We serve a variety of Thai dishes. Excellent service and friendly staff.
I always come here all the time. This is a very affordable place for good portion size and delicious food. I highly recommend their pad see ew and drunken noodles and mango sticky rice. These are my two staples every time I come.
The atmosphere is quiet and very nice. Their service is pretty good too. Itβs family owned and good comes out pretty quickly every time. One of my favorite go to spots in Richmond for sure.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Chadar Thai. My favorite dish was the Tom Yum Soup-- bright lemongrass flavor and nice spice! You can specify spice level on almost all dishes, as well as include whatever meats or tofu and veggies you want. Dumplings and curries were great too! We were able to place our order on my phone at the table and the waiter still made sure to check on us several times and refill our drinks -- seamless, pleasant experience. I especially loved that there are pictures of everything on the digital menu.
The restaurant is located behind another block of buildings off Broad Street, making it hard to see from the road. That said, there's plenty of parking and it's very easy to access. Lots of folks were ordering to go and picking up while we were there, which suggests that's an easy process too.
Looking forward to returning to this hidden gem of a Thai restaurant! π
If you're looking for delicious Thai food- look no further! These dishes were full of flavor. I got the Curry Noodle with Tofu (Level 3 Spicy) and my sister got the Pad Woonsen with Tofu (Level 3 Spicy). The Pad Woonsen came with a side of rice too which is great with that extra spice.
I also ordered Crab Rangoon for the table. Do not skimp on these. GET THEM. Thank you Chadar!!
This place is extremely underrated. I always order the Pad See Ew with thin noodles, the consistency/flavor of the egg and noodles combined with the spices is delicious. We also get the noodle soup with chicken, the broth is clear and is so flavorful and savory. Portion sizes are great too. My favorite Thai place in Richmond hands down.
My favorite Thai restaurant! My dinner consisted of shrimp spring rolls, Tom Yum soup, Amazing Thai with shrimp, and some homemade Thai ice cream to finish (Thai tea and Pandan flavor). Everything was amazing. The Tom Yum soup and the ice cream are both out of this world, highly recommended! You could order anything here and not go wrong. It might not look like much from the outside, but inside the atmosphere is clean, cozy, and casual. The service was great too. 9.2/10
This place set the standard for Massaman Curry and all Thai Curry for me. Was always thick like gravy, very coco-nutty and perfectly spiced with the right amount of fish oil. When I was vegan, their fried tofu was always perfect crunchy skin and dense yet pillow-y inside.
Thai hot level spice really is the only way to go here for me personally but even when it was plain you could really appreciate the combination of flavors in your mouth more.
Best tofu at any Thai place! Love the pad Thai and curry fried rice.
This was some of the best shrimp Pad Thai Iβve had in quite awhile. I highly recommend it. It was delicious!
Love this place! Been coming here for many years, always quality and consistent food and service!

The service, food and atmosphere are all fantastic!
Really amazing affordable Thai Place. All of their Curry is very good. Also try the Curry Puffs!

My husband and I have been going to Chadar for over a decade, and they are the best! The staff are always so friendly, the food is delicious, and the service is fantastic. Highly recommend!
Good variety of dishes, and choice of hotness was very good.
The food is delicious every time! The service is friendly. I only get take out so I can't comment on atmosphere.
Great atmosphere
A must try menu everything I've ordered has been amazing the duck basil is one of my favorite things to eat
Simply put, we were very disappointed. We used to think this was the best Thai food in Richmond, but not after this night. The jasmine rice was terribly overcooked and mushy. This alone should say a lot. The entrees lacked balance and honestly were just bland. Spicy is not spicy here either. They offer chili oil at the table if you want your spice level higher, some dry chili would be preferable for some dishes. I hope this was just a bad night, if not, they went from the best to the worst Thai food I've had in Richmond.
Service was average, little slow.
Atmosphere: Decore is very nice, but the place feels dead somehow even with people in it. It's so quiet and you just listen to people clinking their silverware around.
Amazing tasting food!!!!!!
This is my new favorite place to eat now
Fresh food, clean dining area, clean bathrooms, and polite staff
This place is a gem.
Whether you just want Pad Thai or are well established in your taste for authentic Thai or Curry, this is the spot. Good people making good food.
WOW! Absolutely a hidden gem. Came by on a Saturday before visiting Lewis Ginter and it was fabulous. The food, the service, just amazing all around.
Spicy Thai Basil for lunch. The flavors were good. The Thai Hot spice level was medium at best. Definitely one of the mildest Thai Hots I've had in the area. Reasonably priced.
Had a lovely lunch today cozy place good food service was on point ..will be returning πππ
The food here is EXCELLENT!! Always. The staff are lovely and the menu is varied and totally authentic. It's amazing to find food so well made and well priced nowadays. π

I absolutely love this restaurant! After trying Thai places near and far, it has the most delicious dishes I've ever had. Their Pad Thai is fabulous and their Pad See Ew is amazing!! My family has loved their curries and soups.
A family run restaurant, Chadar Thai has friendly service and is a hidden gem!

Quality and customer service is on point! Food is authentic. The owner is very nice!
I was shocked at how empty this place was shortly after 12 on a Saturday. Their lunch specials are very reasonably priced and everything they had was so tasty! From the Thai iced tea, to the drunken noodles and the mussamun curry. The environment was great and the server was just as delightful. Wish they got the traction here that they deserve!!
It was okay and we enjoyed it but I felt there could have been more flavor in the food.
Good food.. Terrible service.
Went in around 8.20 PM while the restaurant closing time was 9 PM. The owner who apparently was at the entrance to check us in wasn't too courteous to begin with. Upon seating us at the table, he was rude taking the order and wasn't ready to listen for modification in orders. Towards checking out, he auto added the tip ( can you believe it?)
Given the taste, I'll want to give the resto another try but if the same service is encountered, will quit visiting and pass the same to folks around too. RVA after all has lot more Thai options.. isn't it? :)
Recently moved to the area and we were looking for a good Thai place. So impressed with our first visit! I had the panang curry and my husband had the drunken noodles. So yummy, rivals Thai food I had in California. We will for sure be back!
Best Thai food in Richmond.
2 star reviews a extremely rare for me, but this food was extremely disappointing. I'd give 1 star but maybe it's an off night. The chicken satay was bland and chewy. In my 35 years I've never disliked chicken satay, but this place accomplished that. The "Amazing Thai" was not amazing. It was some veggies which were ok, and some very thin beef that was paler than the chicken, SWIMMING in bland watery and weirdly sweet peanut sauce. To boot, I requested "Thai hot" the highest on the scale, and it was... Meh slightly spicy. I threw 95% in the garage.
So glad we decided to check this place out! In a strip mall beside Big Lots. Inside the atmosphere was cozy and attractive. The food was excellent! Service was great too. We will definitely be back!
Amazing food,Amazing people Amazing service no complaints

Great food. A good ambience. Fantastic staff/service.
We were there recently. A local friend recommended it to us.
A group of 15+. It was late in the evening and we called in to check if they could accommodate us as we were still driving and still a couple of hours away. The manager was open enough to tell us that we needed to be in at least 45mins before closing. We made it with 30mins to go. Yet, he took us in. Patiently waited for us to settle and put in the long order. The food was really good. Just a note, make sure you ask them for the spice scale. Medium (3/5) turned out to be pretty spicy. Anyways, he made it up giving us all some green tea ice cream on the house. The soups were really awesome.
Highly recommended and would definitely go again when in the area.
Best food I've ever had!!
First visit and we were very pleased with the entire experience. We will be back...
Excellent Thai food which received high marks from my Cambodian wife. The place filled up fast at dinner on a Friday, so Iβd suggest arriving early. The spice level is serious-start off medium and add more if you need it.
In addition to excellent food, the staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Delicious massaman curry!!!!! Best I've had in a long time!
Ive tried the curry at many thai restaurants in richmond from upscale/expensive places to hole in the wall spots but I always find myself coming back to Chadar thai. Been going here for over 10 years now and it remains my go to for panang curry. Never disappoints
The wonton soup, which is not traditionally Thai to my knowledge, was surprisingly good.
drunken noodles are the best there. prices are good, staff welcoming.
Another visit after a long time and another happy belly :-).
Good food great service.

Looking forward to returning to this hidden gem of a Thai restaurant! π
I ordered basil chicken (American spicy), crab Rangoons, mango sticky rice, and a Thai tea. Basil chicken was delicious and very spicy just like I like. Worst Rangoons ive ever had. Disgusting. But the mango sticky rice was great and the Thai tea was ok. I'll definitely order basil chicken again !
Everything is great! The food & desserts, the service , the prices and the atmosphere. I highly recommend giving it a try you won't be disappointed.
Tried the Chicken Pad Thai and it was delicious. The serving amount was very generous.
It was so amazing very good food nice employees
Good food and fast service!
Not bad, very clean environment
Great food. Hard to find massamun curry and they had it.
This by far going to be in the top 5 of places to have dinner. I like heat in my food, and they delivered. The Curry Fried Rice was awesome. The marriage of flavors in it as well as the Drunken Noodles was first rate and their preparation of the calamari was perfect. We got there about 45 minutes before closing and by no means felt rushed. The menu is extensive, so plan on imbibing on some adult beverages while browsing it. Canβt wait to return and try more items on the menu.
I had the Yum Woon Sen and was delicious. My wife had the Drunken Noodles and was really good, last time we were here the we had the Som Tom and my Thai wife said it was fantastic and authentic. Don't let the outward appearance fool you, the food is great.
Great service, excellent food - price was on point!
Delicious food at best price
Possibly the best Tom yum soup I've had.
Had carryout. Food delicious. Even had my order at the front in a container to keep warm! Nice touch!
The restaurant is interesting from the outside, but when you walk-in the setup is good from the inside, the do have a variety of items on their menu, I ordered βMee Ka Teeβ Thai-Hot. The dish looks delicious and has a good ingredients but I kinda regret that ordered that spicy hot because it overrode the flavor of the food, so o really couldnβt know what the taste looks like.
Prices of the food is decent!
I will give it another try before I decide if I will be a retuned customer or not.
PLEASE BEWARE!!! At first I wondered how can the basic spring rolls come to you scorching hot on the outside but luke warm on inside with a definitive weird smell.Β The quality of the cuisine (dare I say) could be re-created better at home from Trader Joe's packages.Β Great service and excellent staff but the lack of quality could be due to slow cooperation from the community amidst this pandemic.Β The food is not fresh and I am sure the more people order the better the quality will be.Β At this present moment they are currently not appeasing the appetite of those wanting a Thai dining experience.
This is a restaurant we frequent. Their quality and quantity is PERFECT! We always order the Shrimp & Crab Fried Rice and it delicious each time!! We also get their mini Thai salads with the orange drizzle. YUM
The customer service is amazing π€© the food is delicious π usually my first choice in Thai cuisine in the area
This the BEST thai food in all of Richmond. We have been going here for years. We moved to southside and now drive all the way up here at least once a month because nothing near us compares. Staff is super nice and it is very clean. I can't recommend it enough. If any small business deserves to survive the corona hard times, it's this place.
Best Thai in Richmond. I have never had anything here that wasn't amazing.
Yes is our go to thai restaurant. Food unbelievably delicious, hot made to order. Staff absolutely w. They deliver too.!
Well done.
Food so good and looking so nice inside Only thing I can say just check it out
Drunken Noodles are on point. Everything else is great.
Our family eats here regularly. Food and service are always great.
Best Thai food in the Richmond area, by far! Great options for vegans and vegetarians, too, and an AMAZING value. The massaman curry, panang curry, rama tofu, and pad pa (sauteed veggies in a delicious sauce with basil) are all excellent. If you go for lunch, the entrees are only around eight dollars for a generous portion, and they come with a tasty, complimentary salad. The servers are very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere inside is cozy and cute. Don't let the strip mall location fool you. This place is great! βββββ
Great chicken pad Thai, and the BEST beef and broccoli around! Been here for lunch many times, and the food always comes out quickly, but they are often pretty slow to take your order and bring the check.
Authentic Thai flavors
Went here for the first time tonight and absolutely loved it, will be back!
This is my go-to Thai restaurant! My favorite dish is Curry Noodles -- I will eat it twice in one week, I can't get enough of it. The food here is so flavorful and I am always satisfied no matter what I order. The service is very friendly and quick. Whether you're ordering for pick up or sitting down at the restaurant, they are always pleasant and on top of it. Also worth mentioning -- large portions for a great price! I tell everyone about this place. Highly recommend!
Great Thai food. A go-to for our family. Donβt miss the Crying Tiger appetizer.
Good Thai food
The BEST Red Snapper I have ever had!
Small portion poor quality vegetables. Wont be back
Closed earlier the normal hours. Call before you go.
Hidden gem with great food
All just ok...nothing spectacular
My favorite Thai restaurant in Richmond area!
I love this place! The massaman is SO delicious! Definitely go here.
They staff are always nice and the food is always good. They're good on keeping your glass refilled too lol. Have gone a good number of times and will continue to go unless the quality of the staff or food declines.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in this part of Richmond. Their Tom Yum soup is the best we've ever had
I ordered a bunch of Thai fried rice dishes, but these were terrible. They were extremely greasy and soggy. Not at all like the typical Thai fried rice. Itβs more like a soggy mixed rice. I paid more at a Thai restaurant instead of a Chinese restaurant because I wanted to avoid the βmixed riceβ, but it would have been better to just order them from any old Chinese restaurant.
Good food
Food was delicious, lunch specials for $10.25 not including beverage. I had Panang curry and rice, salad, spring rolls and a delicious brownie. Good friendly service.
Authentic Thai food, some of the best in RVA.
Amazing
Best Thai/Lao food in town!
Came in with a larger party of six as there were a few other tables already seated. There were two waiters and they were slow. Im glad they were not filled up as I would not have waited so long as I did with my party of six. It was 20 minutes before they even came to the table to ask us if we wanted drinks. But forget that, we were hungry and order our food instead. Great Thai curry dishes with plenty of rice and sauce. Thai basil and duck was a bit spicy but great flavor . I will be back as often as I think Thai food. Their Thai curry, thumbs up. work on your service. Food came out quickly, so kitchen on par.
The food was excellent as was the service. Will definitely return.
One of the best Thai restaurants in the area. Highly recommend
Delicious Thai food. Everything I've had has been great, especially the Panang. And the prices are reasonable.
So good. I got the gang ped curry (American hot) and pandan ice cream.
So let's just start with the fact that they have pandan ice cream. It was delicious! And they gave me a good amount, I half expected one of those tiny kids cups of icecream that comes with a wooden stick to eat it but it was a small soup size bowl.
The curry was also great! Good heat, great job with spices. Will be returning here in future
The restaurant was clean and the staff were professional and courteous. Spice level wise: Mild is still pretty spicy IMO here but the dishes are so delicious I didn't care. A Thai iced tea helped. Best Thai restaurant I've been to in the RVA area.
It was my first visit and the customer service and the food was very good I will be going there again.
Had the Yum Nua (beef salad) and it was delicious. Heat was just right. Thanks Chadar!
Nice delicious food. Ordered pad thai and drunken noodles.
The red curry is awesome. Lunch box deal is just that! A deal
This place is amazing. I took a friend who went to Thailand repeatedly and they agreed the food is simply amazing. I order online, and they deliver early. Iβve never tried something before, and theyβre willing to deliver with and without certain elemants. I have allergies, and they accmodate, and Iβve never had to use an epi pen. (Just make sure to specify if you have an allergy). THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
This is a gem snuggled next to Big Lots. The food is always good - it has fresh flavors in well spiced dishes. The portions are ample (but not enough for lunch the next day), the service is quick and good. We have never had a "miss" with anything that we have ordered.
Awesome food and great service
It used to be my favorite Thai restaurant in Richmond and I had given five stars in the past but I don't know what has changed, the chef or the management, my last three experiences were terrible. They messed up with the spice levels the first time and the chicken was uncooked second time, it was smelling wierd the third time. I don't have anymore courage to try agian.
Best Thai, and my favorite restaurant in Richmond! Well-priced, delicious food, and very friendly staff. I love this place!
Good food
Really good food, fast friendly service.
The food was so good
Chadar Thai is a really great choice for Thai cuisine in Henrico. In general, I go here for lunch every other week.
They have a plethora of vegetarian options for practically every dish, and I really appreciate that!
They have lunch boxes where you can choose an appetizer and entree, and receive a salad and dessert. It is a great value, but you are limited on entree choices to basics like pad thai, drunken noodles, fried rice, etc.
My personal favorite dishes are the pad woon sen or any of the curries!
Wonderful food, a little shy with the spices though
Good food
Food was very delicious and service was good and friendly. Although the flavors were there, it was slightly underseasoned. The prices were very reeasonable! I would return.
Meals always good and service too
Been here a few times, they're fast and the food is good
