Welcome to the heart of China in our well established Bountiful restaurant. China Platter is decorated from top to bottom with traditional Chinese decorations. We serve both Thai and Chinese food for dine in, take out, and delivery. Check out our menu and stop by to try some food.
First time eating here last week. Can right as the lunch menu was ending and it waitress was a like snotty that we wanted the dinner menu for more options. She went and got another waiter to handle us. He was a nice young man. The atmosphere is super cool in there. The good is mediocre. My husband ordered the Singapore noodles I think, and I did the Kung Pao. Super bland food. The wontons were ok and the egg roll was gigantic!
I read some reviews so I thought I would see for myself. I went for lunch and asked the people exiting the restaurant if was good and they had a glowing review. I would agree. It was very good. I had the hot and sour soup, the ham fried rice and the Mongolian beef. Everyone seems to have a different hot and sour soup recipe and this one was pretty good. I loved the Mongolian beef, so good. The ham fried rice was good but a little bland. Still it was good food in a lovely decorated restaurant. There was a calm atmosphere and I had lunchat my leisure. The lunch was about 10.00 and very nicely proportioned. Nice place.
First time here and I must say I was disappointed. The restaurant had a charming atmosphere with lovely decor and the hostess was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about most items on the menu. The disappointment came once our food came. We order take out and while it was fast we didn’t get the soup because they don’t do that on takeout… tell me why an item that is included in the meal I paid for I don’t get because I decided to eat at home? Sauce was leaking all over the inside of the bag my car and my house! Opened the container and was greeted my a meal that was messy, poorly cooked and cold. My “fried rice” was rice with ham and what look to be one whole egg scrambles and thrown in as a lump. The unappealing fluorescent color of the chicken was trumped only by the lack of flavor and seasoning. It was so bad I just threw it away and couldn’t be bothered to go the two blocks back to the restaurant and wast my time with arguing for a refund. Don’t go here and waste your money on sub par food… trust me you won’t be pleased.
Noticed a bad review so I had to chime in, this place does not disappoint, it is fantastic and the customer service is amazing. I eat here all the time and have never been disappointed. That atmosphere is dope and the food is even better. Everyone go eat there, you won’t regret it.
This was my second visit to this restaurant. I was here about 13 or 14 months ago. I didn't do a review about this restaurant then so this time around I will.
They welcomed us immediately and we sat in a comfortable booth. As we scanned the menu we read that they served Chinese and Thai food. We were all elated about our food options.
I think when you dine with people you love the more tastier the food becomes. I was ever so elated to eat here and with my friends I hadn't seen for awhile.
The conversations we had with each other was so uplifting that the food became a healing source for all of us. It is through food sometimes transformations take place because we are at ease with ourselves.
We ordered vegetable Kung pao, chicken Kung pao, China platter pan Fried Noodles, spring roll, and 2 orders of dumplings. Everything we had was so tasty. Although next time I will ask for the gravy in the side. It made my crunchy noodles soggy.
The decorations inside was like a museum and the entrance with the fu dogs was even more eye-catching. We met the owner and she took some pics of us. She was so sweet and mentioned that they have been in business for over 40 years.
The dragons 🐉 😍 on the ceilings was just absolutely lovely. The owner told us that they are the only ones that have that decor and it has been deem a fire hazard. Thank goodness they have plenty of fire sprinkler system placed throughout the restaurant.
Happy eating 😋
This is the place where I discovered I don't hate shrimp. I just don't like shrimp that's boiled. This place has them deep fried and covered in sauce. Will come back for more.

This place is really cool inside! And it's to hide all of the gross, cheap food. Only elderly people eat there that don't know what good food is.
Ordered the entree of Szechuan Chicken. So upsetting that 99% was veggies. There were 5 small pieces of chicken.

Found a metal piece in our beef noodles and gravy. Sadly will not be back

I’m usually not one to right a negative review, however our server clearly could care less about any type of customer service. Very rude, we actually left before we could even order.

been coming here for years, this place is the best chinese food place i have ever been too. @danielle johnson don’t know wtf they talking about fr. shout out mr wong i got your back. i love yall keep it up fr
Ordered take out. Shrimp Egg foo young, chicken lo mein, and fried tofu. This is not authentic good Chinese food. Shrimp egg foo young was bad, this is not how an actual egg foo young should be cooked. Chicken lo mein was basic. Fried tofu was okay. Whoever the cook is need to learn how to cook actual Chinese food.Disappointed
Great service and best Chinese food in the area (trust me, I scouted them all when we moved into the area because I NEED good Chinese food).

Best Chinese food in the area with a great selection to choose from! Don't miss out on this fantastic authentic restaurant!!
Walked in behind a group of 13 with a baby, no reservation, and was sat right away.
The food was delicious! Slightly disappointed about the egg drop soup having very minimal egg in it, felt more like Ramen (but when I make Ramen at home there's more egg, still).
I took my son there today and he’s a very picky four year old, and every single bite he kept saying “it’s so good I love it all” and he would get up and do a little dance . I ordered the meal for two for us which was more than plenty of enough . I also bought a bag of fortune cookies and those are also on point. My son and I loved the atmosphere and food. The owners were real nice, the guy came to us and gave my son a fortune cookie . I’m going to make it a weekly tradition on going there . Keep up the good business and food.
It's such an underrated place! From outside, it's very unassuming and doesn't look like much. However, once you get inside, it has a very cozy atmosphere. We were properly greeted and seated, and water was already served for us.
I usually judge a chinese restaurant by its fried rice, which is the hardest to stand out, and they make the best I've had in Utah. A very kind man who I suspect to be the owner greeted us and came a few times to make sure we were comfortable and have treats to our kids. The food was really good tasting and I was left wondering why we don't come more often to this place! Which we will now do, of course. The whole family loved this place, highly recommended!
Best curry I have had in utah! Yellow curry and sesame chicken are amazing at the china platter! I could eat one or both of them every day and never get sick of it.
We live this place! The Beef and Brocolli is the best! All of the curries are great as well!
Best hot and sour soup I've had!!
The entrees are quite outstanding the soups which are Campbell's chicken noodle (egg drop) or taste like liquifided BBQ sauce (hot and sour). Don't recommend those. But I have never had faster service with such delicious meals at any other Chinese food place! Also double recommend the lettuce wraps!
The food quality has gotten disappointingly poor. (Do not order the egg flower soup) Our server, Karen, was nice & patient. The inside is spectacularly beautiful-too bad the food doesn't match. I think it's time to upgrade their menu and entrees. Each time we visit there's hardly anybody in there and it's a big place. They have the capability of being a shining star in Bountiful, again.
Always love coming here, the food is great, I love the decor, and the little old lady and man that help clean up are so sweet to my little ones. The pineapple curry was great, so was the strawberry chicken and the mu shu pork. The bo bo platter was fun, with it's little flaming pot.
Try the tangerine chicken it is so good
Horrid ... worst chinese American food ever!
Went for lunch on Saturday. Pros: the decor is awesome and looks like a movie set. The service is good. It was pretty affordable! Cons: the food was ok. Not terrible but not incredible. Might be because it was lunch service. Dinner may be different.
We had a great meal and the service and atmosphere is wonderful. You seem to step into an authentic Chinese setting as you enter the restaurant. Order the chicken chow mien and all the other entrees were excellent. Highly recommend this place!
Five stars all the way!!! The food is amazing!! I like the ham fried rice and egg rolls! The water tastes great! The service is great, the waiters are very nice. The owner is incredibly kind.
Love the atmosphere! Great food, amazing prices
Had to return the food. I asked for a chicken chow mien to go and instead of getting a nice soft noodle like every other place I got a thick crunchy soggy noodle. They said that just how their chow mien is and I probably wanted a lo mien. Maybe it was my fault for not looking at the menu closely but I shouldn’t have too, who wants a crunchy chow mien noodle? I might have just eaten it but there was no seasoning on the chicken, the fried rice didn’t look fried at all and had almost nothing in it. Not to mention they hardly gave me any of the highly unappetizing food, seriously the lightest takeout container ever. This was me giving them a second chance and they blew it. They were nice enough to give me all my money back though.
I ordered for delivery and it took no time to get a hot and delicious.
I was confused I thought I didn't get everything and called the sweetest lady answer and was very concerned about it...it was totally my fault I was wrong..
In my defense I was in so much pain from a back injury..Thank you to all the staff...
It’s great to have somewhere both us and our kids love👍
Good local Chinese. Fun decor, decent menu. Ask for the full menu if doing lunch....lots more options. Friendly staff.
This place needs help! Food is terrible hot and sour soup was sweet and egg fu young was awful. Pass by this place and find another way to waste your money!!!
This was my first time ordering here. We will not be ordering from here again.
General Tao Chicken was not hot (spicy). Egg Foo Yung was dry, lacked flavor, and the sauce tasted like packaged brown gravy. Seemed like it was out of a box and microwaved. Cream cheese wanton - tasted old. Shrimp Fried rice - the rice wasn't even fried at all.
Food was hot. Awesome
Food was very bland. No real taste in any of the 2 egg foo Yung ordered.
Shrimp fried rice?
Nothing fried about it. It's like they added shrimp to plain white rice. General chicken. Asked for the hottest. My 2 year old daughter ate it like it was nothing.
Overall.... Dissatisfied with the price of the food in it's quality.
I have always enjoyed eating here.
I had the orange chicken, and sadly the chicken was really dry. The staff was friendly and prompt.
Always great. Long live china platter
Egg foo young was bland, like no seasoning. Combination fried rice was not fried, it was plain white rice. The Egg roll was marginal, not good not bad
The food was fine - I loved the hot and sour soup - the prices were good but the service was terrible.
This place never disappoints. I have been going here for 20+ years and it ALWAYS delivers great food. The price is better than most fast food restaurants. They have a wide variety of menu items.
This restaurant has excellent, authentic Chinese food and wonderful service! I highly recommend their Tangerine Chicken, it's absolutely delicious
Staff was very helpful and friendly food is always fresh and delicious
Love this place been going since I was a kid..
China Platter has been a long time favorite for our family.
The service and atmosphere are fantastic and we are always happy with the food.
We usually opt for the dinner combos as they have a lot of good options to chose from.
I recently tried the pineapple curry (2023) and it did not have much flavor, so I would not recommend that, but the Chinese standards are all good.
Ordered take out. Food tasted good, but the portions were tiny. If you you are worried about food cost, charge a little extra and give me some dang food! Who skimps on rice? Honestly!
Food and Service wasn't that good.
Very delicious!
Cheap place to get some Chinese and Thai food.
Great place to eat in peace
They LOVE their costumers #charmin
Great prices, delicious food, good variety.
I cannot say enough about our experience at China Platter in Bountiful! Our group of 11 (including 6 kids) was sat with less than a ten minute wait. Our waitress was Vivian, and she did so well with our crazy orders. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious! An older gentleman, we believe was the owner, came out several times to play with and entertain the kids, bringing them extra fortune cookies and making them laugh. Absolutely WONDERFUL experience! We will definitely be coming back!
The food was subpar, and the service was God awful. I have NO idea what was up with our waitress, but she was extremely rude. My husband asked a simple question and she was so condescending. I was deciding if I wanted an egg roll, or another one of their options and she snapped “okay, do you need more time??”
It was our party of 4, and a larger party that was already there. It wasn’t close to busy, so I’m not sure what her rush was? I will never understand why people who hate their job take it out on the people who pay their wage. I can’t support small, local businesses when they have unpleasant staff, I’m so sorry. We will never be coming back.
quaint, quiet, pretty good food.
This is my go to Chinese lunch in northern slc. The price is fantastic and the food is great. The hot and sour soup is tangy and fresh. The rice is ok but the main dishes are really good. I have had the sezhuan chicken, hour and sour chicken, sesame chicken all very good
This was my first time ordering and I am not impressed. Egg rolls were over cooked, tasted burnt. Rice wasn't cooked completely & very bland. Tangerine chicken was mostly breading. This was a take out order. While waiting, I will say the staff is very nice & quick. And the restaurant is beautiful inside. I'll try again another time & order something different . So 3 stars for now
Rude on the phone, bad service
Food taste like as they give attitude purple haired girl very rude
Beautiful restaurant with some of the greatest oriental decor I've seen. Super fast service and friendly attentive staff. The food was great with perfect sized portions for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend.
This place used to be so good. This time I'm severely disappointed. I was charged extra for Mongolian beef. There were 3 pieces of beef mixed in with a whole onion. Please guys get back to the place I remember going to.
This place is so retro
Good place to eat
The egg rolls are always our favorite. The shrimp lo mein and orange chicken were delicious
Food doesn't seem of very good quality. Not very big portions. Food tasted like it was freezer burned or like the fridge or something... can't put my finger on it but I spent over 100 for hardly any food. Go to Boba world if in bountiful, you get 3 times as much Food and it doesn't taste under and over cooked at the same time somehow. Only reason we went with China platter is because they had sweet and sour pork which isn't an option at a couple other places in town, blaming my dad on insisting we have it, and now I'm very disappointed that we did.
I am seriously obsessed with this place. The food is so good and so light. You don’t feel like there’s a rock in your gut when you leave. The employees are extremely friendly as well. My favorite employee even knows my order every time I go in. Best Chinese restaurant EVER!!!
Absolutely excellent food at a great price with great service! The dishes generally range from between $11-15, and the portion sizes are generous. I greatly enjoyed my hot & sour soup, lettuce wraps, sweet and sour pork, and fried shrimp. They were all fantastic and looked amazing! The decor is beautiful, and the staff are courteous and helpful. I highly recommend this for anyone, be it date night, a fun family outing, or just treating yourself! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's awesome. I've never been able to have Chinese food before, too nervous about my MSG allergy. They made it possible for me to experience the wonderful flavors and foods! Again, I highly, highly recommend this place!
The food was great and so was the person who took my order. However, the person at the desk was very abrupt. After they brought my food out, she let it sit several minutes although I was standing right there and it wasn't busy. I finally had to ask her for it, and then she tried to make me pay for it again.
I have no idea how this restaurant is rated so highly. Some of the worst food I have ever purchased was from this restaurant.
The General Tao's chicken was overcooked, dry lumps of chicken sitting in a pool of bitter vinegar-y sauce. I could not finish it beyond a few bites and had to throw the rest away.
I normally don't go out of my way to write a bad review, but this place stands out for how highly rated it is and how revolting the food was.
Nice little Chinese restaurant. Elaborate decor. Prompt service. Good food. Reasonable prices. We will be back.
Wow this was such a good place! A little less expensive than the rest of the places around. We ordered sesame chicken w ham fried rice and an egg roll. Everything was so authentic and real. The sesame chicken has fresh chicken w a hint of sweetness to the sauce. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Food was done very quickly. Server was amazing! Informative, attentive, and quick! Barely had any left to box up I couldn’t stop eating it! The store is so beautiful and calm. Clean and good vibes. Definitely will come back here!(: thanks again!!
Just attended the new years dragon dance here and it was beautiful. Kids loved it. The food was great!
Good food, good service, and usually fairly quiet
Good food. Very nice atmosphere
Always a good place for Chinese food
I have been going to China Platter for over 25 years. The food is excellent and the services is exceptional.
Very good can't believe I haven't eaten there before .I will eat there again
Sooo good. Highly recommend the dinner platter for two and especially the dinner platter for four people. Loved the variety of foods!
We were in town for some family therapy and it ran late. We decided to just stay in the plaza we were in and eat at the China Platter that was just across the parking lot.
This is a case where the cover does not make the book. The outside seemed normal and sort of typical for the area, but the inside of the China Platter was different. The interior was gorgeously and ornately decorated and had an atmosphere that was calm and welcoming.
The service was wonderful and the food was brought out very quickly. The food not only looked wonderful, but it tasted wonderful too. They served the best hot and sour soup I have ever had. I ordered the Tangerine Chicken and my wife ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken, both came with soup, egg roll, and fried rice. My wife and I were blown away at the food quality and preparation. Everything was wonderful. Highly recommend!
Best Chinese food ive had in a very long time
Really neat dining experience! Great food too for a good price!
Everyone was really kind. A very enjoyable experience. The owner is very kind.
Always a pleasure, best hot and sour soup ever. 👍👍
Great food, kid friendly, good price.
Amazing food. Got the Orange Chicken lunch with an egg roll. Everything was fresh and delicious! Great value under $10
Absolutely awful. How on earth does this have 4+ stars? Every menu item we ordered tasted stale. The chicken tasted like fish, the vegetables tasted like they were frozen, the Mongolian beef was literally ground beef.
Never again.
It’s still a lovely place to eat, I have fond memories of coming here when my family moved to bountiful 35 years ago. But guys, it’s a little bland and teenage girls make terrible waitresses. They pushed us to order and getting to our booth had some uncomfortable misfires. My supposedly spicy Szechuan beef didn’t even have a pepper. A bell pepper would have been spicier. There was a decided lack of saltiness in the soup. My glass of iced tea sat empty for 10 minutes, as we were leaving she finally asked if I wanted a refill. It’s sad that it’s not busier. We came here because the mandarin had an hour and a half wait. Maybe if they took some time to make this place more hospitable and the food significantly better, they might cut into the market here better.
Great value. Great staff. I Enjoy lunch here.
I love this place! Affordable and delicious!
Very disappointed. Absolutely no taste. My "cashew chicken" was a piece of chicken that tasted like it had been boiled and added to, no lie I separated it out, a Ziploc full of vegetables with 50% being celery. Was looking for a new Chinese place since Wok Lin closed and this is definitely NOT it.
Me encanto es excelente comida.
Me, my mom and brother each had a lunch special. Cashew chicken, sesame chicken and pork chow mein. Everything tasted very homey. The inside is gorgeous and relaxing. We will definitely be coming back
Excellent service. Good food. Beautiful decor.
Not impressed with the food quality the portions in medium size containers 3/4 of the way full. Missing the white rice that we ordered. Thank you for the years of good service it's time to find a new place to go. We understand hard times but when it's mostly celery and vegetables a little bit of sauce you're just not worth it anymore.
Fast, great deal, and tastes good!!
They're food is fantastic, reasonably priced, the service is awesome and very caring. Beautiful gorgeous atmosphere! Go there you'll love it!! We sure did!!
This was my second visit to this restaurant. I was here about 13 or 14 months ago. I didn't do a review about this restaurant then so this time around I will.

Happy eating 😋
We’ve lived in this area for 2 years and just barely tried China Platter. Boy, have we been missing out! The food is as fantastic as the atmosphere. The service is the best we’ve experienced at a dine-in restaurant in a long time. We will definitely be repeat customers!
Beautiful setting, gracious hostess, good food.
I've been going here for quite a while now, everytime I have received quick and quality service. The food is comforting and delicious. The interior of the building is beautifully decorated as well. Will continue to dine at this restaraunt when given the opportunity.
It's been 5 months since I left this review. I moved away from the Bountiful area and still think about this restaurant every weekend... !
Great ambiance, good price on the lunch special, and the food was really good. Particularly the hot and sour soup is amazing.
It was okay. I've had better.
Best wonton soup and egg rolls that Ive had in a long time! I ordered take out but with how cute the inside was I wish I had dined in! I’ll definitely be back! :)
This is not chain store american food.. and boy is it YUMTASTIC!!
The atmosphere is great. The servers were friendly and the food was good. I wish I could give it more stars but what I ordered was not what I was expecting. I ordered the chow mein, thinking it was going to be loose noodles with some flavor. The chow mein was actually little, fried and crunchy noodles, like chips. I guess I should have ordered the lo mein?
Very enjoyable. Good prices.
Good as always
It was a great place to come and eat lunch
Great portion size for lunch, tasty, friendly staff, clean
Great decor/atmosphere! Easy to find parking. Attentive and friendly staff. Food came out quickly.
Lots of variety on the menu, good prices and combos.
I got the lunch special pork chow mein, which was 7-8 dollars. Also two cheese wontons (small additional $) and egg drop soup. Decent amount of food for the price. And I suppose the quality of the food matches the price.
I was disappointed, though, especially after reading all the reviews. The food was okay, but honestly, it was bland and boring. I've had some amazing chow and lo meins in the Wasatch Front area, so I have great stuff to compare to. The pork was sad, and I rarely eat meat anymore so maybe I just forgot what pork is like, but it really seemed like bland chicken to me. The egg drop soup was a little weird too. I felt like it was just chicken noodle soup but with some eggs instead of chicken? I haven't had many egg drop soups, though.
Maybe other stuff is really good, but from this visit, I have to say I'm very "meh" on this place. I don't feel compelled to return if I'm ever up this way again.
This is one of our favorite Chinese food restaurants. Good customer service, fair prices, and great food.
Sesame beef is our favorite. The other dishes are just ok.
Yummy! We love the environment here and the food is always yummy! I love the curry!
China Platter has got to be the best Chinese Restaurant north of J Wongs in downtown Salt Lake. The food was tasty, the ambiance was superb, and the service was the best.
I will definitely be returning to China Platter.
The restaurant is awesome! The environment, the food, the service, the list could go on. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone! Thanks for a tasty meal!
my girls love this place! the staff are so kind and they spoil us.
The Singapore Noodles are to die for.
Very very underrated.
My favorite Chinese spot in bountiful, since I was little! The Wong’s do such a fantastic job. The prices are reasonable and the service is always fantastic.
Service was horrible (take-out), they got my order wrong so I had to drive back there, then they asked me to pay more for their mistake. I didn’t think it was fair so they banned me for life.
Not the kind of business I want to support.
Nice place for lunch. Fast service, good portions, great food.
Delicious.
Once upon a time, back in the day, this was the best Chinese food in town. Probably in a 50 mile radius. Now, it's not. I Ordered the strawberry chicken and the chicken was super dry only a tiny bit of obviously canned strawberry flavor sauce with freeze dried strawberry pieces (maybe three). It was awful 😖. Over the past few years I've tried the restaurant on an off eith the hope that maybe they had an off night, or something but it gets worse every time I get it.I'm done. No more pain for me ever. Good bye China Platter!
Had a family dinner here. It was GREAT!
This place is what a "cheap Chinese" place should be. An absolute time warp to good, decent priced, 1980s vibe Chinese food. 50 yards away from a still open video store, the cashew chicken and oolong tea were highlights!
I've been here many times and they have one of the best hot and sour soups around! The food is good and service is always great! Very resonable prices. A place I would definitely recommend.
Delicious and dependable. The distance between bench and table is a little awkward.
This is my favorite Chinese! Homemade chicken chow mein is my favorite
Good food, good service
If you enjoy eating here, please raise your standards.
The food was great, and they went out of their way to accommodate our group and our special seating request.
Good food at a crazy good price
Excellent food, reasonable prices, great service.
Always a good place for Chinese food, usually not a long wait if any.
Nope. Don't do it
Forgot the shrimp I paid extra for, Szechuan is terrible and small portions. And since when does egg drop soup have noodles in it and no egg?? There is better out there. The potstickers and wontons are good. The beef was decent. But again. Small portions, hardly any flavor. It ends there. How is this place still in business?
Seriously, Asian American food isn't difficult, but this was beyond bad. Go back to School, or Asia and relearn your cultures food if you're going to own a Restraunt. *And yes, I am confident in saying this because I can say that since I have lived in both places. This is beyond American Asian food. It's a whole new food group of bland. *
Love this place. Friendly and FAST service.
They have great atmosphere/ decor. They have pretty good food too. They are doing a great job in keeping things going in these rough times of labor etc. Broccoli beef was excellent, good rice. Good thai curries too.
A wonderful atmosphere to eat in, very on theme. The owners have put a lot of work and thought into the dining experience for their clientele.
The food is delicious, and has something for everyone. The hot and sour soup is among the best in the state. A bountiful hidden gem.
Great food!
One of my favorite restaurants!
This was such a great dinner experience. The service was exceptional, we never had to wait for a server to come if we had questions or requests. They were so kind with our toddler too. The food was delicious as well!
One of the better Chinese food places in Utah. Love the sesame beef it's addicting. Pan fried and mongian beef are good as well.
My mom and I had dinner here it was good.
My girlfriend and I come here once a month and the staff is amazing. We love the experience and every-time we come in and the food comes out fast and delicious. This is the go to spot for sure!
It looks so humble from the outside, and is gloriously decorated inside with many delicious options.
Yummy
Ordered food to go. The person giving us our order was very rude.
Super underrated. Good price. Good service. Great decorations.
0 stars for the food… the chicken lo mein was made extremely cheap with hardly any chicken, mostly bland noodles and onions. The Mongolian beef had minimal flavor, spice and lots more onions. I hardly ate any of it because it was so bland and didn’t taste fresh. 2 stars because the service was prompt, food came on time and was still hot.
I really enjoyed this place. The food was amazing. Staff was friendly.
