Restaurant popular with locals featuring a light display on one wall & serving classic Thai fare.
Hands down one of the best Thai restaurants we’ve ever been to! The food is just AMAZING and SO DELICIOUS! The service is fantastic and we feel taken care of! Very authentic Thai and I also love how clean the place is! The lady, who seems like the owner is so kind to us, especially to our babies. She kept checking on us, giving the babies some snacks and also gave my daughter a headband! We’re grateful for the nice experience. Highly recommend this place!
Thai restaurant in a strip mall. Restaurant is starting to get a little run down. Carpets need cleaning or replaced. Restrooms were very nice and clean. Service was very good. They have a very wide selection and my spicy Thai basil was very good. Spice levels are Thai hot. Recommend for good Thai dishes
First time here for lunch with my sister and niece. We were hungry from marathon shopping and decided we needed some Thai food. The service was great and they were very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant enough. The restaurant is small and cozy. The menu has a huge variety of dishes although many of them are quite similar. Our food was served quickly and came out nice and hot. The food itself, however, was pretty bland and lacked much of a flavor profile. I was surprised by this. My sister liked her food (shrimp) but said that the shrimp was a little overcooked. She loved her Thai Tea! My niece who is vegan enjoyed her vegetables, rice and tofu. I had the beef, vegetables and rice and was just not impressed. It was bland, the beef was tough and the veggies needed more cooking time. Rice was okay. I felt the prices were too high for what we got. If the food had been excellent, I would have been okay with the high prices. I still feel like this was a decent 4 star overall experience based on the nice people who work there and the excellent service we received.
The food at Ruang is good! They offer lunch specials and lots of options for dinner entrees. Their spice level is on a whole other level! For those who like spice, this place will definitely meet your need for heat.
The staff is incredibly sweet and very attentive. The restaurant decor gives tribute to the country of Thailand and has a nice feel.
My only note would be is their prices are on the higher side, but I’d still recommend giving them a try!
First time to try this place for lunch. They have lots of options on their lunch menu. I thought the food was ok (though I did clean my plate) but the owner was so sweet and accommodating and I loved the ambiance. Maybe it was just the dish I had but I'm willing to come back to try some other dishes.
The food was excellent.
The curry had raw potatoes, few pieces of meat but loads of undercooked potatoes
Casual dining with a BYOB. I strongly recommend Pad Prik King. We haven't had a bad dish and we've been going there for over a decade.

Get the duck roll!!!!
Amazing green curry and shrimp spring rolls! Highly recommend!

Service is slow. The fobetter od portion is small for the price. Had better thai food before.
Best Thai so far in Dallas, BUT DON’T ORDER FROM GOOGLE MENU OPTION. PRICES ARE INFLATED. RESTAURANT CLAIMS TO NOT HAVE AUTHORIZED THIS. USE AUTHENTIC MENU ON RESTAURANT WEBSITE INSTEAD.
Best Thai I have had in the Dallas area so far!
I had the Pad Thai with shrimp, and it hit flavor notes that I had just almost forgotten. The citrus, and tamarind blended for a wonderfully bright flavor, balanced by the peanuts, sprouts, scallions, and the sweetness of the carrots. The thing that I appreciated most was the fish sauce. There are lots of places that either go really light on it, or omit it altogether, and that's a dang unauthentic shame. The salty, umami goodness really makes the dish shine. This was my first trip to Ruang Thai, and I ordered my dish at a 4 out of 5 heat level. I was told that I may have gone a bit bold by some locals, but I do like it hot, and I was happy with the spice level...the Aunties (at least that's what my experience with being married into Asian Americans has resulted in me calling most silver years Asian women) laughed as they brought me a box of tissues for the sweat and occasional tear or two.
My wife went with the Pad See Ew with beef, and enjoyed it a lot. The wide noodles were cooked well, not falling apart or clumpy mush. The sweet brown sauce had a note of tamarind as well, which I don't know that I have experienced before, but it certainly worked! The beef was tender, not overcooked, and complimented the dish well.
Our daughter had the Pad Kee Mao with chicken, and man was it good! The slightly sweet flavors were balanced by the bright basil, and just the right amount of wok char to make this insanely good grilled flavor. Seriously my order when next we visit (though I'm prone to pork, or beef, and maybe some shrimps).
Our son had the crispy fried chicken appetizer as his meal with some rice, that chicken was magical, it had a lovely light breading and seemed almost like little chicken flavored clouds in your mouth.
We had Tom Man fish patties with the appetizer, and they were good, great with the sauce. We also had the Thai Duck rolls, which were okay, my wife enjoyed them, I thought they were okay.
Mango and sticky rice dessert with a coconut ice cream to finish, oh and my mandatory Thai iced tea.
Delicious food, cute interior, charming staff, and the kitchen and employees were all Thai, so the taste is authentic. Tom Kha soup is spot on, and the entrees were all excellent.
Had a homie feeling and the food was great
Great mango sticky rice and fried chicken!
We got charged extra because she said it was Memorial Day and the food was underwhelming.
Food is okay. Owner lady was pushing us to get appetizer. I had to say no too many times. There was only one lady server in prime dinner time.
Pad see ew, pad thai 讚
Delicious homemade Thai food! The staff was extremely kind and courteous and service was super fast. Love the atmosphere with very cool artwork throughout.
I like this place. I love their pad kee mao. But sometimes noodles get sticky.
This place has gone down hill. Used to be the best Thai restaurant in Plano. I ordered the noodles and green curry. The noodles were so salty and broken in tiny pieces, almost like a paste. The green curry was salty too, not too bad but not good either. Sad to see this.
Lovely restaurant with even better staff! Food was perfect in my opinion and the Thai Tea was delightful! Very clean restaurant with quick service and very kind people.
This place is amazing and always consistent. We've tried many, many Thai places around the metroplex and in Thailand and Ruang is by far one of the best!
Love this restaurant! Definitely the best Thai in the area! Fantastic service as well!

The food is great. It is the place that spicy means spicy no kidding. I love it. The owners are sweet and nice. I like their service mind. Would definitely come back for others.
What attracted our visit was a high 4.7 review rating. This establishment is dedicated to celebrating Christmas, starting with Christmas trees and ongoing Christmas music fom Halloween on!
Tea is a standard beverage in Thai cuisine, and for $4 you get a tea bag with medium hot water at Ruang. I had expected, for the price, a fully brewed put, with unlimited refills. As soon as we had ordered the tea, the owner comes to our table to force our hand to buy a different teabag variety, this one for $6! She insisted we switch. We didn't.
The food was flavorful, but higher priced than expected given the quantity. After leaving, our party of 3 gave it a 👎and had to visit another restaurant to complete the dinner. Getting a paid receipt with the restaurant's name on it was impossible. This was a first and last visit.
Very authentic Thai food and decorations.
Great mom and pop Tai food, always fresh and delicious!
Family owned. delicious and super nice friendly staff.
This the one of the best thai cuisine place in DFW area
We visited this spot last night for a friend’s birthday. Although we weren’t hungry and had eaten beforehand, we ended up ordering some appetizers. The restaurant interior is really nice and the ladies who work there are so sweet. They made our experience as guests a positive one. My only minor complaint is the price, like another reviewer mentioned. The appetizers were expensive (at least $10+) and I feel like for that amount we could’ve gotten entrees at cheaper Thai restaurants. However, I’d love to come back for a birthday or nice date night out.
Almost always order take-out but I'm intrigued with the dining room. Interesting lighting choices! Food is solid and the staff is sweet. It seems to be family run. You can't go wrong with any of the food. It's very authentic Thai!
First time to try this place for lunch. They have lots of options on their lunch menu. Hand down one of the best Thai places 😋😋
Delicious and Authentic, my Partner loved it and said it tasted like home
The Restaurant is covered in beautiful cultural decor and has a humble yet elegant atmosphere. Great for a date or just to enjoy a nice meal
This is a overrated and expensive restaurant with minimal standards to provide quality food. Red curry was terrible probably worst red curry of my life. Chicken curry puff was stale with iron like crust. I wouldn’t recommend anyone.
Very nice place, cool and pleasant decoration. Authentic Thai food!
Food was prepared on time, and was awesome!
Love their green curry chicken. This is our favorite local Thai food. A bit expensive but very tasty.
It was nice and peacefull wonderfull kind and caring staff that will listen to your needs and has some of the best food i have ever had.
Thai places are always hit or miss when it comes to getting spicy, you ask for the spiciest and some places give you something mild. Not this place! Be careful with high spicy ratings if you're not used to it. I love that they make it spicy when you ask, so this is up my alley.
This place is run by an older Thai couple. Some of the dishes are more closely traditionally made so might not taste like a lot of the Thai-American places that are more common around town. The pad thai is not as sweet and the tom kha is a thinner soup (which I prefer).
Overall a recommendation for those wanting some delicious Thai from a mom and pop.
Thank you for filling my heart with happiness.
This place has it all...delicious food and a relaxing ambience, all owned by the great lady that we refer to as "Mama Thai" because she reminds us of our great grandmother. The fried chicken is delightful and all of the curries are beautiful. The flavors are truly out of this world! It is also a kid friendly place and they treat families very well. "Mama Thai" really enjoys helping out and doting on the little kids.
If you are looking to support small businesses in Plano/Collin County, take advantage of this gem!
The people who work there are very nice, which makes it hard to comment, but the reviews need to be honest. I was disappointed with the quality of the food. It was not horrible, but I would not go back. It is also overpriced for the quality. It was also budget to not have paper towels in the bathroom. Those blow dry devices blow on the floor and spread germs. The shopping center itself is dying. Most of it is empty.
I am a regular. It is a genuine Thai restaurant. The food is fresh and well prepared by the owner. His wife handles the service efficiently. A relative takes our order
I enjoy the family owned restaurant. I am a frequent visitor.
Been going here for many years, the food is legit and the staff + owner are amazing. Be warned she's not playing when it comes to spicy! On a scale of 1-5, a 3 is plenty for every spice lover we've taken there. 5 is basically a dare lol
Everything here is delicious. From the Thai tea to the mango sticky rice.
It is really good 👍🏻
Great food and great service. Staff was very friendly!
We have been at least 4 times now. The food is fantastic and the staff is too. Will definitely be returning
I am so happy we decided to to try this place! We haven't had any luck finding good Thai restaurants since we moved here. I had the Panang Curry with Chicken and Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango. 10/10 will definitely eat here again.
Great food, great service! I recommend the red curry with chicken, spice level 4.
Pretty solid Thai food. It has the usual Thai favorites you see everywhere else. For some reason GREAT Thai food is hard to find in Plano these days, but this place is one of the better ones I went too. It’s generic but executed well and you can’t go wrong with it.
Food is really delicious. Their service is top notch. We went to have dinner n our sons second birthday. Lady was super sweet, she gave him animal book and a chocolate. My son enjoyed the food as well. I would definitely come back to this place to have nice Thai food.
Amazing Thai food and even friendlier service. I always order takeout and even am served water while I wait.
This place is a gem for any authentic Thai food lovers.
Great food, incredible service. I highly recommend
Very consistent and good thai food. Not your typical american thai food.
We have been coming here for years. The ladies that run the place are super friendly, attentive, the food is always fresh and delicious. The Thai fried rice is one of my favorite dishes at any restaurant, ever!
The food was okay. I ordered a panang curry but received a red curry. There were too many green beans and not enough other veggies. The spice level was good though. The Thai tea was good too. I give this place 3 stars instead of 2 because the ladies working there were very polite and said my dress was pretty. Customer service makes all the difference!
Panang Curry was fair. Too many strong flavors between bell pepper, carrot, and "makrut" , chicken was fresh. Waitress never sent in complete order, lacked Tom Kha soup
Wonderful customer service and great food! Very satisfied.
The best Thai food in Plano/Richardson area. We love this place. My family has eaten here now for 6-7 years. Our favorites are pad ped, gang ka ree, hoo mak talay, crispy eggrolls, crispy fried chicken, crispy fried squid, nua num tok, pineapple fired rice, and on and on..... We have never ordered a dish that did not delight. You cannot go wrong here. The food is so delicious. Order with confidence! You taste buds are about to be dazzled. :) For a sweet treat try mango sticky rice, fried bananas or green tea ice cream...... ENJOY! I see so many other dished we love in the other reviews. I mean what I say.... Everything is delicious.
Where do I even begin with. I've never imagined how Thai food would taste like until I tried it in Texas. When I begun to like it, my colleagues planned to take me here. Visiting this restaurant was an absolute bliss as it was an amazing experience trying authentic n lip smacking Thai food. Starting from their soup, pad thai, etc.. till their sticky rice mango custard this restaurant serves some AMAZING Thai food. I totally fell in love each of the item I tried. Their hospitality was out of the world. The women who run the store gave us some protection thread to tie around the wrist which I've still tied in my hand. They also gave me a book that talks about Buddhism. The whole ambiance was so thai'ish and classic!! It's a lovely place altogether!!
This food is absolutely amazing, sorry I couldn’t show you all a picture of the food, but how empty my plate is explains it all. I’ve had 7 menu items and every thing was great. My favorite is E15 their curry is great as well, everything is good. The servers are genuinely nice and accommodating. Only one thing that doesn’t work in my favor is they are closed on Wednesday. Other than that GREAT, FFRESH Thai food
this is not Thai, more like Chinese . Loaded with MSG... had severe headache immediately after eating. Pad Kee Mow was oil and noodle no meat, Curries are bland, crispy fried red snapper was soggy and not made with typical Thai sauce. and was definitely an old stale snapper used.
Spicy Thai Chicken Fried rice is amazing! Tons of flavor. Ordered take out, arrived a few minutes early but they greeted me very sweetly and gave me ice tea while I waited. Good food + good customer service.
Good taste and good service
The BEST Thai food in Texas! Also very clean and staff is extremely pleasant.
Felt an authentic vibe and taste here!!
Great food, great service.
Restaurant has a beautiful green interior with traditional Thai designs. The staff were super friendly and attentative. The food is a bit more expensive compared to other Thai places in the area, but it does seem like Ruang Thai is a local owned place. I liked everything I ordered except the egg rolls, which were just 3 rolls cut diagonally and were very vegetable heavy.
We love this place! Service is very kind and welcoming. Spicy Thai fried rice, soft shrimp rolls and Tom Kha were all delicious. We also tried the Gai Grob Horapa and it was amazing!!! Everything was very fresh. Also it’s byob. Highly recommend!
We ordered and sat there for about 25 minutes and hadn't received our appetizers. If it was busy I might have understood a little more, but it was slow and it still took so long. We got up and left $10 on the table for our teas and coke and we left. I will not be back.
Ruang Thai does it right! I haven’t had food this good in a while. Everything was fresh and made to order. The service was quick, attentive, and overall wonderful - the owners were so sweet! Both the meat and vegetarian dishes were done masterfully and they have have options to suit everyone’s taste!
I will definitely be coming back!
Good service & clean restaurant us a food delivery driver
Tasty Thai food and very clean restaurant..
Home made Thai fate. The owner and her sister treat you like family, generous portions. Fresh ingredients, she grows, lemongrass and other things in her home kitchen garden.
Very good food and service for takeout
Must visit. Ordered the Thai fried rice, Penang curry and Pad kee Mow. Haven't had Thai food like this in a while. Each dish was excellent. Service was very good.
Delicious food and the best service ever! Ask for the burnt peppers with the pork dumplings!
Best Thai in town - always delicious, great service, and reasonably priced…and the coconut ice cream is amazing!
Love, love ,love this place! The food is excellent and the owners are so friendly and helpful. And you can bring your own wine! What could be better!?
Pad Thai was delicious!
Service @ it’s best , we visited multiple times and we love this place. she knows everyone by name and is always welcoming everyone in a pure Thai way of showing love and pleasure .their quality of food and service is top notch .. Being vegetarians, we have never been denied of any dish that we wanted to eat/try. She altered those dishes and willingly made them using vegetables and tofu!
Great Thai food. Friendly staff.
Love this place. The people are wonderful, the food is delicious.
Excellent food. We love Thai food and are very picky. This is one the best Thai we have found around dallas. We got two papaya salads and a green and red curry. Lots of veg in the curry which we loved with very authentic spicy sauce. They made it exactly with specific requests and really big portions! We will definitely be returning!
Apparently you cannot dine in. So sad, really wanted to try it on my lunch break based on the reviews. Oh well.
The food was delicious!
I ordered fried rice with no mushrooms and pad Thai with no meat and egg with all veggies. There was mushrooms and egg in pad Thai.same thing happened last time also. when I call them today they say no it will not happen. I kept the food in trash but this time attaching the pics before it goes to trash. The only thing I order is like food is very tasty.
Favorite place to eat
Best Thai in Plano. I’ve had a few dishes, and they were great, but my Go-To, Pad Kee Mow, is always fantastic! The owner is always welcoming and friendly.
Best pad kee mow
Always great Thai food here and the owner is always very welcoming and friendly! Would highly recommend Ruang Thai if you are in the mood for some great Thai food!
Extremely delicious!!
They are open for call-in and to-go orders. Please help support our local community. The food is, as always, delicious!
best! thai! ever! me and my mom recently found this place and are in love. I have eaten pad Thai at ~20 places across 4 states and this place has the best. very balanced flavor profile for the pad Thai. great consistency, travels well thanks to great packaging, perfect level of sauciness, and great veggies on top added for crunch and texture (carrot and bean sprouts). also two sweetest women run the shop and they are always so nice. 10/10 recommend we drive ~25 minutes for this and it is totally worth it!!
An amazing place with amazing food. They had such great customer service, they were very attentive and inviting. 10/10 will be coming here all the time now!
Good ice coffee! Love their curry as well. Good service and authentic Thai decoration.
The people here are so nice. My favorite thai restaurant.
Best Thai food around. Always delicious and always a very friendly staff in a nice atmosphere. Just got an order for takeout because dine-in is currently closed, and it’s just as good as ever!
Great service, very friendly
Ruang Thai is the ideal Thai restaurant. I lived down the street from there for a few years, and probably had Ruang Thai once a week. I moved 40 minutes and multiple toll roads away, and my husband and I still make the trek out there because it is hands down the best Thai.
In addition to the amazing food, the owner of the restaurant is generous and caring. She is attentive, and her face lights up when she sees us. We've celebrated birthdays and Christmases there. Occasionally, she'll gift me a trinket she picked up while visiting her family overseas. It's so incredibly thoughtful. She makes Ruang Thai so much more than a restaurant.
How did I discover this amazing gem of a place? Well, I got into a huge fight with my family one Christmas and tried to go throw the McDonald's drive thru to eat my feelings. McDonald's was closed, and I wound up here, crying and in pajamas. Maybe that is why she is always so nice to me?
Favorite Thai place in DFW area!
Had the spicy shrimp basil fried at heat number 5. It was pretty hot. And I'm a spicaholic.
Good place with a good selection.
Very personal service. They explain all of the items on the menu. Excellent flavors.
This is the best thai food in-town. I usually eat once in a week and the quality of the food is really good every time. I like the consistency and quantity of the food.
My favorite Thai restaurant in Plano!
I’ve dined in once with my family and had takeout three times and each was wonderful. This is a great restaurant with kind staff. Highly recommended.
I headed to Plano for a meeting early to miss traffic and stopped in here for a quick bite and a little work. You know those rare times you find a place in the service industry that actually realizes that's the business they're in? So refreshing! The tea was cold and the food was HOT! Just like I like it. They even brought me a small dish of delicious peppers I'd never seen before to bump the heat up a notch. BYOB, so plan ahead if you prefer alcohol with your meal. Such lovely people! Will definitely be back!
Food is delicious here with a friendly staff and good atmosphere. Price is reasonable too.
My favorite Thai place in the Dallas area. The service is always excellent and the food never disappoints. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody looking for authentic and delicious Thai food.
I like the environment overall. But the food is just ok. And a little bit pricy than other Thai restaurants I go.
The people that run this place are wonderful. It's like your grandma feeding you from her own kitchen.
Our favorite local Thai restaurant. BYOB!
My husband and I have tried a lot of different Thai restaurants around Dallas and Ruang Thai is by far our favorite. The food is excellent and the service is wonderful. The restaurant is also very clean. The owner's are always there and it is clear they take pride in their restaurant and truly enjoy having you dine with them. It's also BYOB! ENJOY!
I thought I knew good Thai food until I ate here. Food here is exceptional. They do a basil fried chicken dish here which is my go-to. Everything that I have had here is the best example of the dish that I have experienced; pad Thai, Pad See Ewe, Pad Kee Mow, you name it, it’s top shelf. Do yourself a favor and order the corn fritters and pork dumplings for your appetizer.
This place had the highest rating for Thai restaurant. So we decided to check this place out, it turned out to be a disappointment.
We ordered
1. Appetizer - Chicken Patty
2. Red curry
3. Thai spicy fried rice
4. Dessert - Mango sticky rice
All these foods we ordered were recommended by the waitress. Chicken patty had really thick crust which was hard to bite into and it was way overpriced for an appetizer $9. Red curry was very watered down version of the original red curry. It was more like a soup. You cannot simply find any chicken pieces in it. it was filled with vegetables that weren’t cooked properly. Thai spicy fried rice is too oily and wasn’t flavorful as it has to be. The only item we thought OK was the dessert.
Awesome food
Best Thai restaurant in the entire metroplex!
Great place for family friendly Thai food. The owners make sure your visit is top notch. It's also BYOB if you want an adult beverage with your meal.
The wife and I love this place. Spicy on demand!
So hospitable and nice. Food was flavorful and authentic.
Very good American Thai food! But I dont think I can find some of their dishes in Thailand.
Food was good but too expensive for what you were served
Wow! Pleasantly surprised! My love and I were craving mango with sticky rice, so we searched up Thai restaurants. This one was close to home and had great reviews. We gave it a try. Ordered a chicken pad thai fresh. A spicy pork and shrimp fried rice, also fresh/A crab fried rice and crispy fried chicken that my picky 4 year old son devoured!
Family restaurant with great food, service and BYOB
The food and service here were both excellent. We showed up shortly after the normal lunch hour, and our host was dedicated to serving our food and making sure we knew the best ways to eat each dish. I particularly enjoyed the pad Thai, which was perfectly spicy and had a great punch of peanut flavor. I would definitely go there again.
Authentic Thai, very hospitable service
Wow! Such a lovely gem with delicious food!! Really great service. Must try the duck rolls! BYOB too
Great food and nice people. I'll definitely visit again. Basil fried chicken became my favorite.
The absolute BEST THAI in DFW!!!
I don’t usually review restaurants but I have to say one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve eaten at in Dallas. I could’ve eaten myself to death here loved everything
Great taste and an excellent service makes it one of the best Thai restaurant in DFW Metroplex.
