It was our first time here, we enjoyed the service and the food. They only have bottled water. And only one free refill on the sweet tea. The golden purses were pretty good (it was my first time). The fried dumplings were very yummy with the soy sauce. My son enjoyed the chicken fried rice (no veggies) and I had the seafood (shrimp, scallops and fish) yellow curry (this one comes with (pineapple) it was good although not really spicy. The Thai tea was tasty!

This one is a true Mom and Pop operation, and sometimes with the help of a young woman to run table service. I give high praise to the two owners for their steadfast commitment to being open and serving excellent fare. You don’t get rich doing this.

Tonight, Youngest Daughter had the Spider Roll sushi, which included crab meat, avocado, asparagus, and two kinds of tuna. The serving size was more than adequate, and she brought half of it home for tomorrow's lunch.

I had one of my two faves, this time the Tofu Pad Thai. This is my comfort food. Noodles, carrots, broccoli, tofu, peanuts, and a few other ingredients come together with the perfect heat-rendering spices to make for an explosion of flavor. And typically, that explosion results in a Level 1 response to Thai heat, which is a runny nose. Napkin, please.

Prices are very fair (we both ate for about $24), and you cannot leave hungry. Come here enough times, and they already have a good idea what you will order. We may not be able to communicate much in English, but food is the universal language, and I love what they're saying with each dish served.

We’ve visited here several times and always enjoyed the food. The King and I seems to be a family run concern and they are always courteous and friendly. This restaurant is not the easiest to find and does not have a clearly marked parking area. BUT if you’re nearby it is well worth the effort to find it.

A hidden gem. This place has the best-flavored Thai dishes and seeing them from the most unsuspecting location. We are from Houston, which is arguably one of the Asian food capitals of the states - I can confidently say that The King and I would hold their ground in Houston.

I just wanted chicken fried rice and it was amazing. Enough for two meals, which I ate and then ordered the whole thing over again two days later. While it doesn’t speak well of my creativity this should represent a heck of a reference for their fried rice.

If you haven't been to King and I in Canyon y'all are missing out 🤤🤤I give a 10/10 everything was so fresh and all had amazing flavors this is probably our new favorite spot... Our server Lauren was amazing and sweet as could be and if you had any questions on the menu she could tell you what you needed to know 🤤😍🤤

the sushi is good but every time I order from here I have to drench the rice in sauce bc it's usually kinda dry(in my opinion) and the meats could use more flavor/seasoning. still a good experience

I have gone back every day while in town. The Mexican sushi role is good. (More rice than stuffing) The egg roles tend to be overcooked. The Ramen soup was delicious. The lo mein was the Ramen soup without broth. Same noodles.

We come to Canyon to visit my son who attends WT. My son said he wanted Chinese. We google searched and found King and I with great reviews. We were very pleased. The service was fast and the food was amazing! We will be back!

Our family loves Thai food. We didnt see this restaurant listed on google when I searched for Thai food. We went to another restaurant listed and left because the business hours listed online were wrong but luckily a very kind woman waiting on a take out order at that restaurant suggested we go to The King and I because they are open a bit later. I am so glad she did. The food was phenomenal. The service and the staff were exceptional and so warm and welcoming. We had a sampler appetizer, 2 sushi rolls, i had a bowl of phò, my husband had a fried rice entree, my kids had teriaki chicken, pad thai and pad mee. The menu is gigantic. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. The prices were so reasonable too. I couldnt believe how much food we got for around $110. Definitely impressed. We will be returning!

It was not very busy when we went, it was around 8pm though so i could understand, but i would really love if more people could support this business and keep it here forever! Very blessed to have this restaurant so close to home!

Very delicious, flavorful, and serving. This is not a Japanese restaurant, it’s mainly Thai with Asian varieties and sushi. So I felt fraud when I arrived here wanting Japanese. No chicken katsu etc.

They do not honor military discount.

The food was really good here. I got the green curry the flavor was awesome but for me there was no heat to it. My mother-in-law ordered the weeping tiger and that did have a nice amount of heat and was very flavorful. Will definitely be going back the next time we are in Canyon.

I’ve been enjoying The King and I for over 10 years. Always loved their sushi, amazing Pad Thai, wonton soup, and the list goes on. Great people own it too!

So far this has been the best Thai in the Canyon, Texas area. They were quite busy both with dine in and take out which is always a good sign. They had two of my favs Weeping Tiger salad and Panang Curry and they were great so as Arnold says, "I'll be back"

On my first visit to "The King and I", I ordered the Pad Thai (for takeout). An excellent choice - at a great price - and very delicious. Sydney (hopefully I got that spelling correct) - provides excellent customer service - and I was able to observe her speed & efficiency in handling multiple existing customers - and taking care of multiple new customers that arrived while I waited for my order.

Bad experience, we went on recommendation and it was a disappointment. Ordered several rolls, broth and other dishes to try everything and in general everything lacked flavor. The slow service because they did not have waitresses but even so we were the only ones that day. Hard rice and poorly made rolls. We don't come back.

This place is the best! I van call in an order and with in 15-20 minutes it’s is ready.

This was the second time here. The food has been good both times but it seems they don't have a lunch menu. That means the portions are very large but it is a bit pricey for lunch.

Wonderful. The rice wasn’t dried out. Veggies were fresh. Sushi was fresh and very flavorful. Service was great and very clean restaurant as well. Best Japanese food I’ve had in the area (canyon and Amarillo) and it’s not even close.

Food came fast, real fast. The duck was great, and the appetizer platter was good. Service was fine, and the prices were fair.

Be very careful what you order. I ordered Salmonroll like I do at every Japanese restaurant and they have me fried salmon. The worst is when I called to get my money back and he said they're not going to give my money back and I said it's not the way it's made at Japanese restaurant and they said they're not a Japanese restaurant. The guy dust even take the time to look up receipt or help.

Why is this listed as Japanese restaurant then? I will be disputing this with my bank.

Love their fresh spring roll - it got all the herbs we were looking for - unlike some other thai places that only puts lettuce as the vegetable. Will definitely come back!

Amazing food with great customer service

The food is typically pretty good, some days better than others of course. My complaint is how cheap the owners are. They give you canned sodas and Sams club bottled waters, no ice, no free refills and tea with very small glasses crammed with ice and you get 1 free refill. Went in this evening and spent $65 on our meal for 3. We asked the waitress if we could get some glasses of ice for our bottled water, she said, “Can I say no? Our owner wants to keep the dish count down because we are a small crew.” Haven’t particularly cared for that waitress as we have had her often. She typically wears hand covers which seems so unsanitary, didn’t today for the first time we have seen. The other waitress and waiter they have are normally pretty good. Would love to love this place but it’s hard when you spend good money for them to cut corners on things as simple as washing a couple of glasses.

Food was okay, but seeing bottled water is sad. Wearing gloves and touching everything and not changing them is uncleanness.

I went to the King and I once before and had an okay experience, good food but terrible service. Today I went and found pieces of plastic in my sushi and when I told the waitress she acted like it was completely normal to have plastic in the food. She was unable to communicate with me, which made for an unpleasant experience.... and I will be very reluctant to return again with this kind of service.

We the worst experience I've ever had in a take out order. Took an hour and a half to get 2 vegetable fried rice with a side of chicken. Also very overpriced after waiting that long I payed $39 for the 2 very small portions that I got. Not to mention the amount of people returning with wrong orders or that they left something out. This was my first time here and will never go back. To get a better picture of how busy they were, there only had people at 3 tables they were serving that night so there is no excuse for such horrible service.

This is the worst restaurant in town! I ordered sticky rice and asked for sauce with it but forced me to pay a dollar for two sauces. The owners service was very rude and the food was cold and hard. Very upset!

Lived in Canyon 8 years and never been here, finally decided to give it a whirl, if you like a place thats super quiet and peaceful this is it. The staff seems pretty good, a tad slow for service but maybe they arent used to a lot of folks there. I ordered some different sushi plates and will say it was very surprising how good it was and the presentation on the plate was very nice. I also tried the tofu soup and was pleasantly surprised how good it was.. Overall i was happy the the experience. Give them a try if you like to try new things and Thai Food

Found this place while on a road trip. Not gonna lie, by it's outer appearance I was expecting much. But after receiving our meal...Wow! This place blew us away. Their sushi is fresh and hand rolled, I had the tamarind duck which was delicious! Would definitely recommend!

As usual we had a lovely experience at The King and I. The food was fresh and tasted wonderful.

The food was good. We ordered a lot of things including chicken fried rice and chicken tom yum soup. But, after eating, I had an allergy attack, which is due to my allergy to sea foods. So, before you order, just check with them if they use any oyester oil/sea food parts in their food, if you have any specific allergy. Nevertheless, good service and they were supportive after I talked to them about the allergy issue.

Loved the food. Delivered a huge order in an hour. Let them know if you have any seafood allergies. One of our friends got sick, but we were not aware that they use fish/lobster oil in chinese fried rice

Passing through Canyon to head back to Colorado. My partner and I went to The King and I and absolutely loved it. Due to COVID-19 we had to get take out and the service was extremely quick! We drive 45 min for the singular purpose of ordering to go here. The customer service is amazing !!!! They are always super polite when calling in an order. The food is delicious my husband is from California and he can never find good sushi till we found this little hidden gem. It is in a fairly odd place and tucked off the road very quaint. Worth every penny.

Had to give a star to even right a review. My girlfriend has a peanut allergy and she told them no peanuts, it is even on the ticket. I guess they don’t understand the concept of cross contamination. YOU HAVE TO USE EQUIPMENT THAT HAS NOT TOUCHED PEANUTS. She is now in the hospital for a severe allergic reaction. Will never return to a place that cares so little about the needs of their customers especially in a trying time like we are in now with the pandemic we are faced with. Such careless can result in pain or even death. Shame on you.

I absolutely love this place. It may look run down and dilapidated on the outside but once you walk in it becomes a cute little restaurant with amazing food. Their lemonade is some of the best lemonade I've ever tasted. Fresh and tart and sweet just like my grandmother used to make. I'm forever ordering their dragon roll sushi to go whenever I need a quick and delicious lunch.

I was very happy and surprised at how delicious everything was! I recently moved back to the Panhandle after living in Dallas for 23 years. I had gotten quite used to a certain level of sushi and have been missing it for sure! Imagine my surprise and delight with the King and I. Taste, freshness, presentation and service were outstanding. I will be back!
