I moved from the West Coast and couldn't find a Thai soup I used to enjoy. I tried a lot of places until I came here and I was so excited! It's a small restaurant, but the food, service and atmosphere were perfect. I recommended them to family that visited from out of state and they also really enjoyed their experience.

Bangkok Tokyo is an absolute gem in Amarillo! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is beautiful, with a cozy yet elegant vibe that makes you want to settle in and enjoy every bite.

The food? Incredible. Every dish is bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re in the mood for Thai or Japanese cuisine, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything tasted fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious.

One of my favorite little details? The bathroom is through the kitchen—I love that! It gives the place such a unique, authentic feel, almost like you’re stepping into the heart of where the magic happens.

On top of all that, the staff is beyond sweet. Everyone is so kind, attentive, and genuinely happy to make your experience the best it can be.

If you’re in Amarillo and craving amazing Thai or Japanese food, Bangkok Tokyo is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back!

I was not impressed. Owner ignored us while we sat and waited ages for menus. Boring green curry no flavor. Never asked us if we wanted it mild or spicy like all othe Thai restaurants do. Never smiled as I walked past owner on my out. Did not show interest in us at all. Only one busy but nice server. None of the dishes had good flavor. Too mild. Dirty bathroom door and sink!!

Anytime I am in Amarillo I always come here for dinner! It has some of the best Thai food! Try the Udon Pad Kee Mow!!

We had, egg rolls, wontons, beef & chicken chow mein and mixed vegetable with chicken and all perfectly cooked and beyond delicious. If I could give more than 5 stars I would because they deserve it.

They’re pretty busy during peak hours so I’d be sure to go in early. Although it’s worth the wait regardless. Red and pineapple curry are to die for!! My friend also go the teriyaki chicken bowl and he crushed his😂 very sweet and cheerful staff. I will be returning!

Absolutely amazing!!! We came here for our 18th anniversary and it was the best decision. We walked in it was cozy and inviting. We were greeted and seated quickly our server Priw was 5 🌟 from the min we sat down his timing, professionalism and friendliness was appreciated and refreshing . The food was delicious and you could tell love was put into every dish that was cooked. Me and my father have been on the road for a good few hours. We’ve been driving from Shiprock for 7.5 hours and we were looking for a place to dine in. I was waking up, droopy eyed and eyes red. My dad had asked with his signature smile in his gentle eyes, “Mcdonalds?”, I replied with a “no.” Hopeful for me to pick, he again asked “Wienerschnitzel?”, I relied with another “No”, in a sleepy voice.

After a bit of a good back and fourth, he said to look up the best sushi places in Amarillo. This quaint place has caught my eyes with an endearing 4.7 stars on good. My eyes darted around the screen, it was 3:46 pm. Google had stated it was closed, yet it would open in another 14 minutes. With a hearty voice, my father had said.. “Sounds good. By the time we get there it’ll be 4 o’clock and it’d be open”.

So, we drove down from the freeway and past a lovely avenue with a mural nearby and turned into it.. We were instantly greeted and sat down. There was another couple already inside. They seemed quite lovely.

So, my dad had went to use the restroom. It was outside to the right. The restroom, despite being outside, was clean with a good amount of toilet rolls on the shelf.

okay i can’t keep typing like this,, alright, i ordered a pink lemonade, the drinks were already nice and cold without ice and the cups were frozen in a good way. the portions, you’d expect to be small, but the teriyaki bowl was more than enough to fill me up.

we had fried tofu, it was nice and warm. the outside as quoted, “the color of a good pumpkin pie.”, so a nice, light golden brown :3 it was crunchy on the outside and soft with every bite. the sweet and spicy soft was pretty good too.

in short, this restaurant was very deserving of it’s stars, i would come back to this everytime if i could. 7.5 hours of driving aint fun.

ROACHES! I used to think this place was OK. Was always concerned at how cramped up the place is, how slightly over priced some things like soup are, and how the walls are dirty from years of people's food splatter on the wall... but I over looked it for 3 visits on a row. Then today, I find the most disgusting thing, a couple roaches in my husband's coffee. The small kind that if you see a small baby one in your cup that you know at night, there are hundreds that come out from the walls. I will never return and I couldn't even finish my meal after that. I have only seen one roach at another restaurant and it was an outdoor one and that may be fine.... but these roaches are the kind you see when there is a cleanliness issue in the kitchen. The ones that live in walls by hundreds. I got the coffee comped, but I should have had everything comped because roaches are the last thing I would want to see when I go to a restaurant like this. The lady, which I assume is the manager, came to the table and asked me if she comped the coffee if everything will be fine. I said yes only because I was being nice. Sorry, it is never OK to see a roach in food, I just didn't want to make a scene because there were elderly next to us. I just can't return. Sorry guys, your food is good but I don't trust it now. And you all really need to clean or paint the walls. I am sure it was just us and I am wrong, but I don't believe it so. The normal thing to do is to tell your customers everything will be comped for this mishap, not give the customer the option because I didn't go there for a free meal either.

Traveling through with a group of 8 and got there an hour before closing. We waited for a table for about 10 minutes. Everything we ate was incredible, and even the wary members of our group left happy. The service was friendly. We’ll definitely eat here again if we’re nearby!

The BEST we've had! We were traveling and got so lucky with this place. It's small but quaint and they REALLY know what they are doing! Good is perfect, service is above and beyond and all around just perfect. Thank you.. we'll be back when we're lucky enough to travel and visit.

Love the food

I ordered tofu noodles and miso soup, and it wasn't tasty for me. Everything was too salty. The tofu in my noodles tasted like pieces of bread fried in oil. They were too crispy, and there was no tofu taste at all, just the taste of oil.
The miso soup was like very salty water. This was the worst miso soup I've ever had.
My friend ordered seafood soup and she didn’t eat that soup, it wasn’t tasty for her as well.
I'm very sad that we spent money on this food. We will not be coming back here for sure.

The place also has a terrible restroom with an entrance from the street, water dripping from the ceiling, and it is quite dirty.

The only thing I'm satisfied with in this place is the service. The staff was quite nice, and they often came to check if everything was okay.

I love this place! They have the freshest and reasonably priced sushi of anywhere! The servers are very friendly but not overwhelmingly so! I highly recommend you try Bankok-Tokyo!

I adore the food every time I come here. I went with my boyfriend for his birthday recently, and the gyoza never disappoints. It’s perfect every time, and the sauce is a wonderful balance of sweet and salty that compliments the gyoza beautifully. I tend to get a different dish every time I come, as I love everything (especially the tonkatsu ). This last time my boyfriend and I both got the sesame chicken bowl. The chicken was wonderfully crispy, and all of the ingredients were distributed well. The chicken didn’t get soggy due to the overwhelming amount sauce that other places put on. The rice was perfect as well, and didn’t get soggy from the sauce either. The dishes and utensils are all cute, and the servers are so sweet and attentive every time I come in. By far my favorite restaurant in Amarillo.

This is a great little Thai place. Wonderful food, great service and atmosphere is what one would expect from a small family owned restaurant. Not very big and we were lucky to get seated right away. Even with people waiting to get seated food was served so fast that no one waited too long.
We had our food within 10 minutes of arriving and it was AMAZING.

Ate here for lunch with my family earlier today and had a great experience. It's a small but cozy atmosphere, and the wait staff was fantastic. We ordered a to-go meal a few minutes before the restaurant closed for lunch, and the kitchen was so kind in still making the order for us. That was definitely not necessary nor expected, but we were so grateful for their courtesy!

The food was fantastic, some of the best sushi in town, easily. We all got our own sushi roll and nothing disappointed. Our main course meals were also excellent. Even my brother, who is a very picky eater and was unsure about trying this restaurant, LOVED his teriyaki chicken and finished it in less than 10 minutes.

Best Asian cuisine in Amarillo! The owner is such a kind person. She always shows great hospitality. In the 4 years I've been going here, I've never had a bad dish or bad service.

Some of the best surprises come in small, or in the case of dining, small restaurants. Bangkok-Tokyo is tiny by most standards, and trying to pack 30 people in there might be a little bit of a stretch.

But stretch they do, with every table occupied and a line out the door at a recent lunch rush. Oh, and never mind the constant traffic of those picking up their takeaway orders. The phone was ringing constantly.

All signs of good food, and I vouch for this being among Amarillo’s best when it comes to Asian cuisine.

I went with the yellow curry and tofu. This is a pretty standard dish where Thai food is served, a meatloaf-and-mashed-potatoes kind of dish you see on every menu. They delivered it with panache, the crispy tofu a nice contrast to the soupy curry and cooked vegetables. My colleagues ordered a Spicy Chicken Basil and Bangkok Tokyo Noodle with Beef. We had Veggie Tempura for an appetizer.

I suspect if this place were bigger, its crowds would increase proportionally. As it stands, I heard they only have three woks in the tiny kitchen, which means when diners all come at once, there is never a dull moment back there. But the magic happens, and this place warrants a return.

Look, just don't judge this book by its cover. Parking is hard, seating is limited, place is small but food is top notch. Pad Thai was phenomenal, portions are large. Refills were slow to get, but not only were they full, they had tons of to-go orders, and people waiting to be seated. Staff was most likely as attentive as they could have been as busy as they were. Great food, good service. I'll recommend it, and I'll be back to eat here again.

This restaurant was bustling when we went in with a full house! But we got a table in just 10 minutes. The food was served fast, hot, and exactly as we ordered. I got the chow mein with fried tofu. Crunchy, savory, and delicious! And very affordable. Highly recommend!

Stopped by for the first time last night with a new friends that’s a long-time customer and swears by how amazing it is, and boy they were so right! I loved this place, I got the sesame chicken bowl, they got the teriyaki bowl and we split an order of chicken gyoza. I have not had such good gyoza in forever! The sesame chicken was crispy and delicious and so full of flavor. The staff were so kind and patient and we didn’t feel rushed to eat or leave! There is minimal seating but I think that adds to the atmosphere, it doesn’t take away from it. I will 100% be a return customer and so should you!

Originally being from the Texas Panhandle/South Plains, I was in Amarillo a lot in the past. Long before I was writing Yelp reviews I would come to this restaurant every time I came to Amarillo. Recently, I returned to the area to visit and upon arriving in Amarillo around lunch time after a 10 hour drive, I headed straight here.

I’ve seen a few reviews saying that people may be put off by the exterior but after having come here so many times I find it endearing and authentic. The parking lot is small and so is the dining area. This place gets packed but luckily on both counts I’ve never had to wait. I like everything about this place, from the decorations to the ambiance, it feels very vibrant. The staff is super friendly and the guy running the front area and wait staff, is one of the most outgoing, gregarious people I’ve ever met.

The food quite simply is amazing! Over the years I’ve had almost every sushi roll or sashimi here and have never left disappointed. The Thai food is bursting with authentic flavor and incredibly delicious and as spicy as you desire. I’ve been living in Houston for a while now and I would still put the Thai food at Bangkok Tokyo on that upper echelon tier with some of the restaurants in the area. Who knew you could find authentic Thai food in West Texas? I did. Now you do to. If you are ever in Amarillo whether by choice or not, make your best decision to eat at Bangkok Tokyo!

This might be the best Asian food we’ve ever had! Their sushi was freshly made and delicious. We will definitely be back. For anyone gluten free, I am celiac and I had no symptoms after and had many delicious items. They have tons of gluten free options.

This place double charged my debit card $28.58, and even with evidence of my bank account transactions and double charges, they continue to argue with me about it and will not give me a refund. So now I have to wait for the bank to open Monday to refute the charge. It’s a good thing I don’t “need” that $28.58 this weekend. There have been times in my life when I did.
