Thai Restaurant
Got the pineapple fried rice and it was really delicious, would have liked it a bit more if there was some additional pineapple as I only had a couple pieces. The presentation looked great though, rice was cooked well, veggies were nice and fresh. Nice view of the kitchen and easy atmosphere to dine casually in. Service was great, always very attentive to anything and prompt. The servers were all very great! Would come back again if I was in the area of close to the hospital again in the future.
we loved it! definitely felt like we got a good amount of food for the price and everything was v yummy. service was speedy and it was relatively empty at three on a friday. i got the koong pad prik prao, and my table got drunken noodles, wonton soup, veggie & shrimp dumplings, and red curry. we all really liked our own and everyone else’s dishes. it was all the perfect amount of spice and had really good flavor. it was my first time trying red curry, and i was surprised by how good it was. definitely a solid thai spot in ucity :)
I went here with my mom while visiting Philadelphia and staying near the University of Pennsylvania. I ordered Khao Soi (Spicy Curry Bowl) for the first time and was not disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. For someone craving a curry soup with noodles, it is a must order. My mom ordered the Pad Woon Sen, which was also delicious. Great vibe in the restaurant and very friendly staff.
This is not my first time visiting Pattaya Grill and I love the garden seating option of Pattaya Grill! We ordered their Seafood Tom Yam soup, the soup itself is on-point for its sweet and sour, though it arrived in our table in such a luke-warm temperature. I believe the soup would tastes 3x better if it was hot. We ordered the Pineapple Fried rice, Pad Thai and Three Buddies.
Our favorite were definitely the amazing Pad Thai. Pineapple fried rice was ok, it was not dry enough for my tastes. If they just keep stirring the fried rice a bit longer on the wok, it would’ve been perfect. Three Buddies was something new that I’ve tried here, in my opinion it was a bit too sour. The only thing you taste is just the sourness of the dish, guess you’ll love it if you like sour dish. Overall, this is a great place to grab Thai cuisine.
I mostly order takeout from here and have been doing so for years. They’re always quick and it’s always delicious. The portions are a good size and it’s affordable. A West Philly staple.

This is the most terrible restaurant i have ever been to. The stuff is racist they haven’t served us properly they weren’t friendly at all . They were very disrespectful. Iam never going back to this restaurant ever again.

Unfortunately they don’t accommodate vegan customers; we came in for curry after having been told countless times before (2020 to now) that the curries were vegan and today were informed that the curries all have fish sauce and they wouldn’t be able to make us curry without it. Unsure if we’ve had been having it with fish sauce all this time or if they just added it but either way just very disappointed :/ we loved this place.
I used to love this place. Came home from out of town and ordered via Uber eats. It was discusting and they forgot my rice. The Thai Basil taste like Chili paste. The shrimp were dried out and there wasn't any veggies. They forgot my white rice too. The shrimp in wonton raps were old and dry. Sad!! I'm highly disappointed.
Good service but small portions. I left feeling hungry.
Awful food, worse service.
We visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday evening. We were greeted and seated promptly. We ordered and were served just as quickly. The food was off the charts! We have done take out there before, but this was our first experience dining in.
I must also comment on the cleanliness of this establishment, it was immaculate.
Good authentic cuisine, excellent customer service, competitive prices
Was ok. We had a pork belly and broccoli dish which was pretty good but the pad kee mao (spicy noodles) were pretty disappointing. Some undercooked noodles and the sauce was oddly tomato sauce like and quite greasy. Clearly they worked on many takeout orders making the open plan kitchen a loud environment despite fairly few dine in customers.
No special flavor I said hot but they didnt pay attention to it and it not hot at all and the drunken noodles are stick together
Nice and timely service with excellent appetizers and noodles. Golden triangles here are amazing! Only complaints are that shrimp are cooked too long and they become hard in the noodle and soup dishes, and the Thai tea is too sugary.
EDIT in 2024 (above posted in 2021):
Pattaya no longer demonstrates the excellence I was used to in the past. I dined in for the UC dining days deal and received what looked, smelled, and tasted like microwaved entrees. I got the pad see ew with beef and my friend got the red curry with beef. We both immediately noticed that the beef seemed not fresh, had a strange look to it, and tasted subpar. It didn't seem completely inedible so we continued to eat, but I soon realized that many of my noodles seemed hard or crunchy around the edges, which is absolutely unacceptable for pad see ew and indicates the noodles had likely been sitting around for quite a while, as freshly boiled noodles added to fresh sauce would not have that texture. The calamari we received was quite bland, though the salads tasted good and came in good portion sizes. Finally, the desserts were very underwhelming - one small scoop of coconut ice cream (which did actually taste good) and not even half a banana included for the fried banana, with a sad looking chocolate sauce star drawn onto the serving plate. While we left dinner feeling quite disappointed in the quality of the food, the bigger issue was the nausea I felt when I got home. I never felt this way after eating at Pattaya in the past at their original location near 40th and Chestnut, and it's clear that their quality has nosedived in the past few years. I had saved the rest of my (mostly uneaten) pad see ew in hopes of sprucing it up at home but now must throw it away because it seems that eating it will likely harm my health. I will not be returning because this last experience has literally made me feel sick.
This is normally one of my go-tos for Thai food in the area! When I go, I order the pork spring rolls, Thai wings, chicken satay, and chicken pad Thai. I would say that they definitely have one of the best Thai wings I have ever tasted. However, the chicken pad Thai isn't the best I've tried. (It's a little on the dry side.) The service is also very good as well.
The food was amazing, and they really thought about the customer experience, even with delivery. Example: the Thai iced tea is bottled, so there is no risk of spilling during delivery or being watered down, and we ordered calamari and the bin had holes cut in them, so they would stay crunchy as well as warm. Genius. The portion sizes for all the dishes were large, so we have leftovers to enjoy tomorrow. The spice levels were just right, spicy enough, but without drowning out the flavor. Highly recommend this place 😋
Great place w super friendly, hardworking and attentive staff. Food is phenomenal and among the best Thai we’ve had including nyc. West Philly is lucky to have this gem. You can’t go wrong here. Penang curry was a ten and better than the green. Ingredients fresh and flavors were complex without being overly spicy. YUM!
Three of us ate at Pattaya Thai Cuisine this evening and it was a delightful experience for our first visit to Philadelphia. The staff were very nice and service was excellent. We each had different meals; we had the drunken noodles, the pineapple fried rice with chicken and the Pad Khing with chicken. We also had pork spring rolls which were excellent and the dipping sauce was amazing. Every meal was excellent! The portions are perfect and the flavors are wonderful! The restaurant is extremely clean and neat. We had a great experience!
They have the best Mango Sticky Rice I tasted so far! Also, the staff is pleasant.
Everything on the menu is great and it's a popular spot for locals and university students alike.
Good vibes, good service. Had the pad kra pow and wasn't particularly impressed, though.
Love it
The food was quite bland for the drunken noodles. The other dish was much better. For the price was not worth it. I felt like I got a dish of noodles.
Excellent food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. I’ll be coming back soon!
Tom yum was too sweet, it should not be this way ,satay was dry ,pad thai was below average. I feel most of the food was cooked with tge same recipe. The first and the last time I will have this restaurant in my list
Quick service, delicious food, kind people!
The service at this place is great. I ordered the drunken noodles they were tasty.
This place is a real treasure. Their vegetable dumpling appetizer was great. The garlic salmon was cooked to perfection. Salads had exceptionally fresh ingredients. The food came out astoundingly fast.
I ordered the pad see ew and it was delicious I can see why this dish is in the top 3 most ordered. I will definitely be ordering again.
Good food and portion sizes. I just don’t like that they will always add tofu to the pad Thai by default even if you select a meat option.
Super delicious Thai red curry. I loved it!
The staff is horrible! One had the audacity to tell me to “move out the way.” I’m going to say exactly how I felt in that moment, had I been “ someone else” she would NEVER have uttered those words out of her mouth. What she did not realize is who I work with, and you should NEVER judge a book by its COLOR.
If you don't except to give at least 10% tips they will tell you that, next time, take your order away !!!
The food was good and everything was going good. Me and my partner left and we had one of the waitress come chases us down the street to ask why there was no tip. If the owner is to cheap to pay you a proper salary I'm sorry, but it is not my fault. If you mark up the prices for people who eat inside or ask for non-tippers to not come that is fine, but don't chase people outside. As I told the lady I will not come again.
Edit: I love how the you just ignored my recommendation of having mark ups only for people dining outside. Your salary pays them for their service and time, not me.
Food was great and they give plenty of it. Atmosphere was good too. Good thai food place. recommended.
Food is on sweet side. Friendly staff.
This used to be really good like a year ago. Now everything is just too sweet, like they add sugar.
Wow food is delicious. Take out order.
I hate tofu - and somehow they made it so flavorful and delicious in my pad Thai.
Pineapple rice was so good as well.
Everything tasted fresh.
Pattaya is a decent local stop for a variety of Thai inspired dishes. It looks small from the outside, but there is plenty of seating inside. The service is fast and the food is prepared quickly as well. The food was flavorful, but not the best Thai I've had in Philly. The spring rolls were a little over cooked, but the accompanying sauce was delicious.
The most favorite authentic Thai restaurant in Philadelphia that I have tried.
The food here is delicious! Would highly recommended the Chicken Panang Curry and Pad Thai. Tastes great and service is phenomenal. Really enjoyed the Thai Tea as well. The staff here is very accommodating and went above and beyond for a request I made!
we loved it! definitely felt like we got a good amount of food for the price and everything was v yummy. service was speedy and it was relatively empty at three on a friday. i got the koong pad prik prao, and my table got drunken noodles, wonton soup, veggie & shrimp dumplings, and red curry. we all really liked our own and everyone else’s dishes. it was all the perfect amount of spice and had really good flavor. it was my first time trying red curry, and i was surprised by how good it was. definitely a solid thai spot in ucity :)
Best 🥭 Mango Rice tried so far!
The basil fried rice was good but the drunken noodles had no seasoning unfortunately
Do yourself a favor and ORDER from here RIGHT NOW!!! Omg the food is so good!!! I came upon this place by chance and I have literally ordered from here 3 DAYS IN A ROW!!! The food has been perfect every single time… I think this might be my new favorite restaurant! I even called them just tell them how much I have enjoyed the food because it was that good!
Yum yum in the tum tum
The food is Excellent.
Nice place to eat. Friendly staff
Busy place but fast service! khao soy was great but barely had any tofu in it. For my personal preference, I’m happy to commute a bit further out for other Thai places but this is a great option if you’re close by and limited on time.
Thai food is tasty! This place is clean and quiet: ideal for a “catching up” date or solo dining. I had the Thai BBQ half chicken and it was juicy and delicious, came with a sweet chili dipping sauce and some rice w/ some lettuce and carrots(I’d call it a garnishment)! Nothing like bbq chicken I’m use to and that’s a good thing. The staff is nice but it was a lil difficult to hear them and they move quickly very quickly: it was my first visit but I felt a lil rushed with the menu and no explanations or recommendations were available. They don’t open til 5pm but I would love to have this for lunch sometimes!
Great Thai food, close to UPenn.
The drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mow) are fantastic. 4 out of 5 folks in our group ordered them.
The other person ordered the bamboo curry which was very good also.
The “golden triangles” (fried tofu pieces) is a great vegetarian appetizer.
The service is fast and the prices are reasonable
If you are in the UPenn area and want a flavorful meal, make sure to stop by Pattaya.
Excellent food and lightning fast meal preparation!
Great food
Great customer service and the food is great here. Always comes out hot and well prepared.
The panang curry was like water in consistency. I didn’t care for the flavors of the pad see ew or the fried rice.
The spring rolls were the only thing good here. We got the drunken noodles and the basil duck, and both were old to the point of being spoiled food. The basil duck especially. Perhaps because thats not a regular item? But still they should not in good conscience serve food that old. Completely ruined our dinner
Great service and very quick. Food was delicious! Ordered spicy bamboo and drunken noodle, both were very fresh and tasty
Delish
It's pretty good. The taste imo is more catered to non asian taste buds but a great introduction to for ppl who never had Thai food b4
I really liked this place. First of all, the service was really fast, like I got my food in such a short amount of time, and they were very receptive to us. The food itself had a lot of flavor and had good garnishes to go along with it. I especially liked the pad see ew with shrimp and would recommend that to anyone that goes.
Great service, nice staff, fast, delicious food. Spicy, but not too much!
Room temperature when it got here
Excellent flavors, excellent prices, excellent service
Surprising lack of neurogenic poison
I don't want to tell you guys how good it is because I'm selfish and I want this place all to myself! Let me preface my comments by saying my family and I were in love with Lemongrass Cafe since the 90s. After they closed years ago, it was very hard to find a comparable Thai experience with the lunch specials to match. Pattaya Thai Cuisine is it baby!
Location: the new spot is beautiful, light, and low-key. 20 minute loading parking in the front let's u easily pick up takeout.
Food: The calamari is fried with a double layer of something because it's crunch like fried chicken 😍😍😍. The salmon with red curry is on par with Lemongrass's basil salmon, although I would definitely appreciate a few more veggies in the mix.
That's all folks. I'm going back to try more items from the menu 😋
I've been dining at this restaurant for years. They seemed to take a bit of a hit in 2020 and the quality of the food seemed to suffer. However, they've turned it around in 2021. The food at Pattaya is fresh and delivery is always quick. However, the two foods I normally order (drunken noodles and red curry sauce--tofu & veggie) have become over-sweetened and less enjoyable. The sugary nature of the dishes is driving my rating.
Pad thai was not good at all. So dry and why is there cilantro on top. Literally bone dry noodles. Thai iced tea and veggie rolls were good tho surprisingly
Tofu Penang with 3 tofu cubes, a handful of veggies and rice. Tasted good but not generous portions for cost.
I thought this was a new Thai restaurant in west Philly, but upon ordering and trying (and throwing away) a pad Thai, I learned that this is the same Pattaya that used to be around the corner. I just want to know how can a Thai restaurant get the most Thai dish (pad Thai) wrong? I got it with shrimp and those were one of the most disgusting shrimps I’ve tasted. New location (looks nice) but same old bad taste.
Great infusion of flavors!
Lovely new space, attentive and kind service. The food was great! Red curry had a perfect blend of coconut sweetness and chili heat. Fried squid salad was another hit. Highly recommend. Oh, and they're BYO which is always a fun addition!
Awesome food, tastes authentic. And affordable! Would definitely recommend.
I’ve been searching for years for a Thai dish that compares to what I experienced on the islands of Thailand. Finally!! This place is fantastic, and clearly cares immensely about everything from the customer experience to the sourcing of ingredients. Check it out when you get a chance. Best of the best.
The pork spring rolls and the satay was good. The drunken seafood noodles were okay and the pad Thai was so so. Not a bad place the staff was great. The flavor profiles were just off.
Over price, small portions, ordered soup and they brought it to us cold.
First time trying this place.. food is flavorful.. ordered drunken noodles with a spice level of 5.. and it’s just right. The shrimp rolls were tasty, Also I like the dipping sauce. The delivery was faster than expected, major plus. I would order again, maybe try their duck next time. In shaa Allah
Best drunken noodles around!
Delicious
I lived in Thailand for 5 years... the food here reminds me EXACTLY of Thailand (try the Kana Moo Krob) this is stir fried kale with pork.
Service is atmosphere is EXCELLENT.
Cute server named Bomb.
Giving 5 stars on the Tom Yum Shrimp Soup 👍
The servers were very helpful, polite, and extremely attentive to my needs as a diner. The food came out very promptly. I ordered the Thai BBQ Chicken, and the Basil Spicy Chicken, with a Mango Margarita to drink. The food was awesome. I have no complaints whatsoever!!! Great restaurant
Quick service, easy ordering, clean ingredients! Great food!
Very unprofessional. They canceled my order, because I wasn’t paying extra for veggies. Not once did I say I didn’t want my order I said don’t worry about adding the veggies. Instead of confirming with me about canceling they went behind my back a canceled with doordash. That’s so shady and someone should of told me! I have no intention of ordering from them again and it’s sucks because I was starving!
It was closed.
The crab fried rice is a hit....
I’m giving a 2 out of 5 rating because we ordered 5 items and only 2 were good. The pork spring rolls and the pineapple fried rice were really great. The Tom kha ga and tom kha shrimp were extremely sweet. I’ve had this soup many times and it has never been this sweet before. Also got the sweet and sour vegetables with chicken. The sauce was watery and didn’t have much flavor. I will say that the food was hot and ready when I picked it up and that’s much appreciated. Maybe they were having a bad night?
Food was alright. Ordered the drunken noodles and noodles were a bit too soft. However, the spring rolls were delicious!
My food tasted delicious, but after two bites I realized there was a very large piece of plastic in my food; looked like a piece of tape!. I called to get a refund. This has never happened to me before! The person who answered the phone processed the refund immediately with no problem. I appreciate the quick m, friendly and effective customer service. I must reiterate the food is so good!!! Just be careful eating. Despite this incident I would eat there again
the veggie pad thai, veggie spring rolls, veggie dumplings (highly recommend), and chicken drunken noodles were all really good. i ordered off of uber eats and got the food 20 mins quicker than expected!
Delivery driver for the restaurant is extremely rude and threatens to not deliver your food. Order through respectable apps and not through the website for these clowns.
The appetizers (spring rolls and dumplings) were good. The entrees were awful. The beef see ew tasted awful. I think the meat was bad. The red chicken curry was also terrible. The soup was watery and soupy and the flavors were awful. Would not recommend this place.
Food is amazing especially Thai curry.
I just got some takeout as a part of UCity Dining Days and everything was so yummy. It was ready to pick up in 15 minutes, it was accurate and packaged carefully, and it was a great value. Every dish was delicious and this will be my go to for Thai food in the future.
Pad thai was clearly reheated in the microwave, and had maybe 2 bites of tofu in it.
Pineapple Fried Rice and Pad Thai Noodles were excellent. Ordered online and fast pickup.
Food was good. Then my boyfriend found a hair in his plate.
Great place for a quick bite.
Ordered the drunken noodles tonight for the first time, and it didn’t taste like most other drunken noodles I’ve had. There was WAY too much fish sauce which threw off the flavor and smell of the dish.
Absolute nasty waste of 💰🚽 shrimp not fresh and fries soggy. Dry pad Thai with no sauce.
Overly soggy spring rolls.
.
I made an order from here, due to the great reviews. Sadly I was disappointed, not only was my food cold all of it had a bad taste/foul odor. Upon inspection I found that all the shrimp in my dishes were bad and contaminated all the items in the dish. Please check the quality of your food. Tonight I became extremely sick after eating only a slight amount.
Delicious food! I loved the spring rolls and had the best pad thai I've ever had. I ordered mild and it was the perfect level of spice. Good portion with good amount of protein and vegetables. Good value for the price. This was a delivery order and everything came warm, well packaged, on time, and the man who delivered was so kind!
The ribs that we ordered wasnt cook through. I also ordered the shrimp & crabmeat fried rice with side of fried tofu. I only received the shrimp.
Lastly, I ordered the egg roll and it was so oily and flakey I couldn't eat it. You could tell it was refried.
I had high expectations going in and they did not disappoint!
Excellent food
Service, food and atmosphere were all fantastic. Nate and his staff truly run an outstanding operation. I will be back and I can’t recommend Pattaya enough for genuinely wonderful Thai cuisine.
The food is always great, and the service excellent. A must go to place
3.5 stars. Ordered yellow and green curry, pork spring rolls, golden triangles, Tom kha soup. I also had the Thai mojito, and it was good & refreshing! Nice atmosphere in the window-covered back room.
Overall, food was just okay. Rice was overcooked and a bit mushy. Flavor was there, but not quite as rich as I've had at other Thai places. Everything tasted...watered down. Would definitely try other places first before going back. Service was quick after an initial long wait to have our orders taken. (There were only 3 other tables occupied, but a lot of takeout orders).
Very tasty!
Best Thai food I’ve had
The staff is so racist! This isn't the 1950's people! You'd think they never saw black people before. I came in with a date, both of us black, and we were seated and from then on frozen out of their little restaurant society. No waitress came by, no one asked us if we were okay, no order, no acknowledgment of any kind. I thought we were in the twilight zone. We left after an hour and 20 min of staring at people and being ignored. And the place wasn't even full. There were two or three tables still emply. Crazy! Never, ever, ever, going back and I hope they lose business and close up for good!
The delivery took forever and to make matters worse there was a maggot in the food! I almost threw up, when I called the restaurant they offered to replace my food , I will never eat there again! Wont give me a refund! NASTY.
Dry food, little and not good flavor! Doesn't look like original Thai food.
Good service
