Bare-bones Thai restaurant serving generous portions of noodles & curry in-house or to go.
Cheap, fast, very greasy, low on protein.
Ordered Pad Gai, I think? It had chewy rubbery noodles, which is a texture I absolutely hate. I couldn't finish the dish even though I was quite hungry for lunch after a hard day of work.
The overall flavors, spices, etc. were overtaken by the cooking oil. Not balanced very well, it was hard to enjoy. It's a cheap joint, basically a fast food version of Thai food.
The guy running the front-end was super nice and polite. The peanut sauce they made was actually delicious. So, it wasn't all bad, but overall, not a place I would recommend.
I went to this location today, I haven’t been here in years felt like since I was in the neighborhood I would enjoy some Thai food. Well that wasn’t the case, the lady who’s always at the front came and took my order. I told he I wanted Veggie Fried Rice. When she brought my food out it had meat in it. I told her that’s not what I wanted, she began to yell at me and ask me why I order what I order. I explained to her I wanted that particular fried rice just with veggies, she continued to treat me disrespectful and continue talk to me inappropriately. I will never eat at a place where I’m disrespected. By the way the rice that was brought to my table look grease and disgusting.
Delicious, authentic flavor dishes. Good serving portions for the price. I especially love the crab rice. They are generous with ingredients. I enjoyed every dish. I would order again when in town.
Update: 5mos later. Good flavors but they tend to overcook the meat. All three dishes has overcook meat. I'm disappointed.
We were there at 7pm and had no problem getting a table. Our food was prompt and excellent. I had pad thai; my husband had yellow curry with shrimp, and we share coconut shrimp appetizer. We'll have two more meals off of our orders. We had excellent service and shared our Thailand experience with owner who returns to Thailand every one or two years. I am glad they are now open for in restaurant eating.
One of my favorite Thai places! The owner is lovely, so incredibly friendly and welcoming. We've been coming here for a while now and he always remembers my partner and I, which is a bonus.
Love love their Tom Yum! Generous portions without losing any flavor.
Food is amazing! However! Never use the online order, it charged my card 6 times for $74I, my bank put a stop on it and returned all the money. I had to call them to unfreeze my card. Then I called and placed an order for $74 and when I arrived, they tried to charge me $83. I told them, and she said it was correct! I asked her to use her calculator again and I was right, only $74. Just watch your bill for correct price and never order online it goes through a variety of places you can choose from.

I love Thai Ginger! It is my favorite Thai food restaurant. Excellent food and atmosphere and wonderful service as well. I recommend this restaurant to anybody and everyone who loves Thai food.

I am sorry to say i forgot to take pictures of my beef pad kee mao, I opened it and the smell was so good I set upon eating the entire entree nonstop until it was gone. Every part of this dish was perfect. In particular, the beef is cooked well here, it is incredibly flavorful and tender. I also loved the fresh veggies. This was really what I needed today and I will be coming back with friends and family. Thank you!!!

Best pot stickers I’ve ever had! I will not share!

Fantastic neighborhood Thai restaurant. We took 3 hungry runners here after a cross-country meet. Dinner did not disappoint. We tried chicken satay, wontons, stir-fried vegetables with tofu, two different pad Thai dishes, and a yellow curry. All were really good and the service was quick and friendly. Will return!
I have been eating here since I was a kid and it has always been amazing! The food is always so so good and the staff are extremely nice! Best thai food in portland
The people that work here, are extremely friendly. The food is delicious, easily some of the best thai food in Portland.
Good food
First off- service was great and staff were very friendly.
I ordered takeout. The salad rolls were split open when I unpacked them. They came with sweet chili instead of peanut sauce. I doubt they would have served them for dine in the they looked.
The noodle dish I ordered had overcooked, broken noodles, and the veggies were that off color and texture that comes from cooking too long at a low temperature.
I get take out from Thai ginger often and it’s consistently good! I regularly get red curry with tofu and the pad eggplant stir fry is so flavorful, love it.
Adore them!!
Service was fast and the food was excellent!!
Got food poisoning here last week. Avoid anything with chicken in it. I was sick for days
FOOD POISONING guaranteed if you order food from Thai Ginger. They don’t refrigerate their meats and they serve expired food to people. Puked my guts out for 2 days straight after eating here
About 4 pieces of chicken, about 35 pieces of baby corn.
Friendly , service is good.
awesome thai… flavoring is balanced and never too sweet! pad woon sen!!
Thurs is our go to Thai place in the neighborhood, and they always make delicious food with ample portions. Staff here are very warm and friendly
Everything was delicious! I ordered Pad Prik stir fry (40), wonderful flavors! Gaeng Pa Nang (52) great pa nang curry! And Kao Pad ga Prau fried rice (75) also delicious! Will order these again!
Eating or ordering from Thai Ginger is always on our Places To Eat list when we're in Portland. Im not a huge carbs fan, but my goto is their Pad Thai. 🤪
I’ve only been alive for 32 years, but feel confident that I’ve experienced enough of humanity to say that the people at Thai Ginger are the nicest people who have ever roamed this earth. The food is great too. Consistent, piping hot, hits the spot, etc etc. just what you want from Thai take out. But even if it sucked, I’d keep coming back just to hear them say “thanks for your order, we’ll see you again soon”. You will see me again soon. I love you.
Thai Ginger has the best Pad Thai, hands down. I’ve been coming to this place for 20 years now ever since I went to the UP back in the early 2000s. Doesn’t skip a beat. Always get “Thai Ging” when I’m in NoPo!
All I can say is WOW. So fresh, so flavorful, so delicious!!! Please try the curries, you won’t regret it. I can’t wait to get this again.
Normally this place is lovely. This last time it was absolutely awful. Our noodles were mushy, gross and had an old flavor. The spring rolls were not crispy, we put them in our air fryer hopefully to make them crispy. They were just mushy on the inside. The normally flavorful soup was weird and off. We ended up throwing 60$ worth of food in the trash. I don't know what happened, but I hope it gets corrected. We won't be returning any time soon.
My very favorite Thai restaurant. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu.
Always delicious. Lovely people great service.
Ordered house special (fried rice with chx, shrimp and beef(I asked for no beef). Got home - wrong order. Called and was told by order taker that I got the ‘other’ house special and if I brought it back she would have to pay for it out of her own funds as she placed the order wrong. I finally backed off but did not enjoy a single bite of that meal.
Love this place! Always visit when I'm in town!!!
Among the best Thai in Portland. I wish they would open up indoor dining but it is what is, killer lunch menu too.
This has been my go-to Thai place for almost 20 years. We've never not enjoyed a meal from Thai Ginger!
Absolutely fantastic food, consistently delicious for years, and the service/owners are extremely friendly, lovely people.
Thai Ginger is the best place for take out in the area, hands down. You won’t be disappointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you Thai Ginger for the delicious Thai food and great customer service:)
Love this place. Tasty food and very friendly staff.
I looked online for places to get salad rolls and this place came up, online the price listed was $3.25, so i called in one order of salad rolls and asked if I could substitute peanut sauce for the sweet and sour and they said yes and confirmed it was no extra cost to do so. I had a $5 bill ready, but when I got up to the pickup window they told me it was $8, so I was flustered and had to pay with my card and was confused why it wasn’t the listed price. That’s more than double the listed price online, they need to update their prices or maybe they were just trying to get a few extra dollars from me. Not sure but either way the two small salad rolls were not worth $8.
I want to like this place. I always give a place at least 3 tries and given this place at least 5 tries. Disappointed in the food and paying over 30 bucks for two people for salty flavorless food. It’s is not worth it. Sorry
Love this place we ordered our lunch from work. On weekends
family love the food.
We ordered the first time for a business lunch, and everything was absolutely delish!! Highly recommend.
We've been going to TG for the last 9 yrs or so. We're not big eaters and typically get 2 or 3 meals.from a dinner portion. Food has been good and consistent, in our experience. I don't know if it's my body or the food but it's seeming way to salty lately. Have not seen comments about saltinesss from others but it's become an issue for me. Could not find any nutritional information but seem to wake up "puffy" the.morning after eating here.
I got the pad thai, medium spicy. It was absolutely wonderful.
A go-to spot for takeout (they only do to-go orders; no dining in option). The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. It's not the best thai food I've ever had, but it's good/solid takeout or delivery thai food for those rainy days when you don't want to cook. Be warned that the parking lot is small and annoying, but it's still worth it!
We came across this restaurant while in Portland. Service was quick. We picked up at their service window, take out only, no indoor dining options. The parking lot seemed small with limited parking space. Food was delicious. We tried the house special fried rice, my go to meal, when I don’t want to try new menu items and the Thai spring rolls, which was pretty good. Great customer service.
My absolute favorite thai restaurant in portland!!!
Staff is very friendly, food is always delicious, good portions, very fast order fulfillment, the list goes on. Lately when ive been getting food they have been giving me extra orders that canceled or is left over(i think im just getting lucky heh). I literally have nothing bad to say about this place and I am very critical of thai restaurants (worked in one for 3 years so i am picky)
I feel so lucky to have this spot in my neighborhood <3
Consistently fresh and delicious. Portions are big. Always super friendly and fast service! Would love to sit down in the restaurant or have a heater outside, but either way this is one of my fave Thai places in Portland.
My favorite Thai place in town. So quick, beyond delicious, and very reasonable pricing. Tom Yum soup is so good.
I made a mistake & called my order in, viewing the online menu found on their Google entry. Apparently prices went up since the Google entry, & 2 appetizers + 1 soup, a whole meal for one person, costs $34, instead of $14. That was a shocking disappointment.
I know, those text print Google menus are often outdated, but I hadn't anticipanted a 230% price difference. $21 would be a rip off for what I ordered. $34??
It would have come close to being worth it if the food was amazing. It was edible, I ate it. But I've eaten exactly this same order at a food cart in NE, and the food honestly tasted quite a bit better & costed about 30% le$$, too.
So overall, this was a disappointment.
I'm glad to report the staff was not mean or rude in any way.
We have been here many times the food is great
Friendly folks and good Pad Thai.
I ordered takeout for 6 friends. Everyone ordered something different. By the end of the night, almost everyone had mentioned that this was the best Thai food they’ve had in Portland. We will be back.
That’s a not good food
Absolute favorite Thai place in Portland. It's worth driving to the other side of town to come here. I've tried most of the things off their menu and recommend them all. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff are super friendly. I remember a valentine's date I had with my wife was here and they gifted us salt and pepper shakers that hug 🫂. It's a very sweet sentiment that is indicative of the restaurant's environment.
Their Pad Thai and Papaya Salad are very good. Definitely will come back.
Best Thai food. Hands down.
The food is consistently very delicious. We have been ordering takeout from here for almost 2 years, a few times a month. However, in the last few months they have repeatedly prepared my food incorrectly. I just got takeout and this is the third time I've had my fried rice prepared incorrectly. It's to the point where I don't think I can order from here anymore without checking inside the containers before leaving the parking lot to go home. We love your food, please just give us what we order!
Love it 🤣
Excellent food and exceptionally friendly! At this point in time, you cannot eat inside, only order at an outside window, and then either take it to go or eat at one of the few covered picnic tables that they have. The food is truly scrumptious.
Food is always great and the staff are very nice.
Window/pick-up svc only, fast & fresh. Delicious!
This is my favorite Thai place in North Portland.
Consistent and well spiced. If you like the heat get at least "Hot". Call in and ask for "Thai Hot" if you're willing.
Pretty awesome. The best Thai places are ones that take a while to cook the meal, as in true Thai dishes. Thai Ginger is no exception. Great meals.
It says this place is open. They are only doing take out. Might as well be a food cart. I came here to eat. Not take food home.
I blame Google for not letting me change their "dine in" listing
I tried this place a few a years ago and my hubby and I decided to try it to tonight. It was just as delicious as I remembered it back then. We ordered the chicken yellow curry and the pineapple cashew fried rice . I decided to add shrimp and chicken. It was so good and fresh. Their peanut sauce was delicious as well.
The phad thai is one of the best dishes I have had in Portland!
Delicious
Mediocre food but good sized portions. Overly sweet peanut sauce in pad Thai and pra ram, and loads of runny sauce in the pad see ew. We used to eat here often but haven’t been in a while. We were disappointed. Also: their online prices are outdated, so the price was way more than expected. From previous reviews, it’s been that way for a long time and the woman knew full well. Sounds like it works out well for them so there’s little reason to update it.
Best Thai food around. Great friendly service.
Delicious
I don't want to be mean but this was some of the worst pad Thai I've ever had. I ordered the tofu pad Thai with extra sauce, instead the noodles were dry, there was a little egg, the fried tofu was falling apart and the lime wedge that usually comes with the dish was already squeezed. It was just not good at all.
Best thai in Portland..
I had a curry that was mild, creamy, delicious!
The crab fried rice is so good.
Got the yellow curry. Was very bland. Just a mild bit of spice but no flavor. 🥴
Great food every time, nice friendly staff.
Horrible conditions. Bad Service. Clusterf*** of a parking lot.
Great takeout! The portions are generous, and the ingredients seem consistently fresh. One of my go-to Thai places in PDX!
Amazing, best Thai in NE Portland
The pad Thai is very good and the quantity was great for lunch. The Thai tea was tasty too.
Favorite Thai food joint by far
Best green curry ever!
I’ve lived in Portland for over 20 years, and this is easily the best Thai restaurant in town. The food is consistently amazing, and quickly ready. The staff are warm and friendly everyday, and always quick to accommodate. I’ve never met more talented, hardworking, & passionate people— and that is perfectly reflected in the food, which words won’t do justice. A true Northside gem 💎.
Such a great selection of dishes. Really tasty. My favorite Thai.
Always great Thai food every time
Outstanding value. I had tender noodles with perfectly cooked broccoli, carrots, and tofu in a rich, yet unheavy, sauce balanced with crunchy bean sprouts. The large portion means I get to have the same experience when I eat the leftovers tomorrow! The service is fast, friendly, and professional. ❤️
I'm disappointed Thai Ginger isn't open for dine-in yet but happy to report the takeout meals are just as delicious. Our spring rolls were crispy, everything was still hot & fresh in our order and the staff was very friendly. Glad we stopped!
Gave order to someone else. Had to remake.
Great food. Super delicious chicken pad Thai medium spicy was so good.
The spice level is somewhat inconsistent (I usually order medium) but it is always super delicious!
Great pad thai
Thai Ginger is a staple in our house. We order it at least once a week and have never been disappointed!
Always good food
High quality food, lots of delicious options and very friendly staff.
I’ve had a ton of the standard Thai in Portland and this is the only good one I’ve had. Not too much sugar and the flavors are good. They also have some interesting ones like curry noodles
Good Thai food
Super yummy!
Consistently tasty Thai. 👍🏻
They forgot my utensils
Great place
I read that this place was supposed to be good, but unfortunately it was not. I ordered one of their peanut Thai specials and it was very very dry, like no sauce. I assume it’s supposed to have a sauce because it is a pad Thai dish, but maybe I am wrong. their menus stated the combo would come with shrimp, chicken, and beef, however mine had 0 beef and 2x pieces of shrimp were not clean (the poop vein was still there, see photo. I also asked for an extra order of white rice, and it was over cooked and mushy. The straw that broke the camels back was they did not give us any utensils or napkins, this was a take out order.
When I got back to my hotel I had to drive out to the closest store to get a fork because my hotel does not have a conti-breakfast so they didn’t have anything I could use. This was a HUGE inconvenience after being in the road for over 6 hours (traffic wasn’t great today). I didn’t want to go out again that’s why I ordered take out.
Needless to say, despite the fact I am only driving through Portland today and will be gone tomorrow, I will not be a patron of this restaurant again. Hopefully if you do it will be a better experience than mine.
Love the food
A regular stop for us.
When I was in college at UP, this was my best friend's and my go-to restaurant. We still come here almost 15 years later as a best friend date because it is that good. I highly recommend the pad thai, along with their tea and soups. Fast, quick, and delicious service, cannot recommend enough!
The service was fantastic but they overcooked it a little. I ordered the Pad Gai with chicken, and the noodles were very mushy and it was overloaded with basil and the lettuce was very old too. I’m guessing the rush probably didn’t help, it looked like there was only two workers.
I’m willing to give this place another chance, as I know COVID is having a terrible effect on small businesses.
Great Thai food ...the taste is excellent and the service is quick and friendly....this has always been a definate place to eat in my neighborhood when I do not want to cook or to take friends and family for a delicious meal
Really good Thai Spot. Live in NoPo and just started going here a few months ago. I will drive the extra distance from now on, to go here. Best Thai in North Portland, IMO. Portion sizes are always great as well.
Delicious Thai food drink. I ordered a curry dish (I couldn't spell it if I tried) with a Thai iced coffee & my GF ordered the Pad Thai. The curry was the perfect amount of spicy, the Thai coffee was excellent & the Pad Thai was a very generous helping. There will be leftovers for at least 2 days. Highly recommend this establishment. I advise ordering in advance.
Very good Thai good and good service with friendly people.
This place has the best Thai food! Love this food and this place!
Tastes great!
Food is always yummy.
Best Thai food in Portland
Taking fried bananas off their menu will prove to be their downfall .
Favorite Thai spot in Portland!!
Delicious food at reasonable and affordable prices.
My family has always loved coming here & appreciate the personable staff.
We love to see them still in business during this time & appreciate the safety precautions they are taking during this time. No indoor or outdoor dining.
If you want to support local businesses that will articulate back into the community then this is the place to go
Wonderful place, great good & service. A NOPO treat!
I got an order delivered from an app--this was some of the best thai food that I've had in a very long time.
Top notch! A+
I’ve been a customer of this place since it first opened. The food is as consistently delicious as the first day I ate there. Their Pad Ke Mow is amazing and the best I’ve ever had. Any time I get that dish anywhere else it’s never as good. Always great service, price and portions. The place is always clean and the staff are always courteous, efficient and friendly.
Menu prices are outdated 6 months, and paid a lot more and food wasn't that good. Will never eat here again.
I LOVE their green curry. creamy with just a little heat
Great service, the man who runs it all is probably one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Delicious curry as well!
Really good food, nice staff, and a good COVID system. They appreciate their business and customers.
Staff is amazing and so kind! Great portions and great food.
The best Thai place in Portland Oregon hands down!
DELICIOUS!
Thai Ginger, in it's most humble appearance- did not fail to deliver the most savory, fresh, and delicious Thom Kha Soup on a day, when I was coming down with a fever, desperate for Pho and having zero luck finding any on a slightly warm Wednesday afternoon. I pulled into the parking lot, called in and waited 20 minutes, before I was handed my order with a cup of perfectly brewed Thai iced tea. The service was warm and efficient and a hand-written note in the window thanking long term customers for support proved their heart-warming presence in the neighborhood. Happy to see this little business kicking through a pickup window in Covid times. Go support!
Been going to Thai Ginger for over 15 years. Excellent food and large portions.
The food is very good, but I wish someone would edit the menu prices listed on Google. Menu lists prices as $8 for most meals, when they're actually $12.50. I obviously had a shock when I my total would be $32 and it was $50. That said, a typical order feeds two, so you can get away with cutting costs by sharing.
Go to Thai spot in North Portland! Our favorites are the Pad Thai and Fried Rice
Every dish has been a hit each time. Open for pick up!
Will never order from here again.
My stomach is currently in knots from eating a salmon dish with rice. I don’t have food allergies like that so I know it wasn’t that. The food has my stomach feeling horrible. I just hope it doesn’t get worse
