Established in 1994, Thai House Restaurant has been a staple of Oklahoma City for nearly 30 years, serving authentic Thai and Laotian cuisine. Located at 500 Northwest 23rd Street, Thai House offers a delicious taste of Southeast Asia in Oklahoma City.
My family and I visited this place a 2nd time, and decided to post this review. Born in Bangkok, I’m pretty picky about my Thai food :). I’d give this place 3.5 - 4 stars.
Pluses: pretty authentic dishes for the most part - extensive use of fish sauce, which is mostly a good thing. Availability of Tod Mun Pla - only place in OKC that has this, our favorite appetizer. Wife also loves Kao Soi - which we can rarely find elsewhere. The Thai egg rolls and Thai iced tea were also really good. La’ab and other dishes we ordered the first time around were also good. Prices were decent for what you get - portions were okay. Service is good overall - waiters were very soft spoken but attentive. Ambience is okay - could use an updating, esp giving it a more Thai feel.
Misses: inconsistent with their food. This last time we ate (this past weekend), the Tod Mun Pla was too salty (likely an excess of the red curry paste used), and some of our dishes were not as bold flavored as before.
We will likely return - but would recommend to the staff to monitor and taste the flavors to make sure the Thai flavor comes through strong without being too salty or too bland.
Food: Tasteful, vibrant, tastebuds will have a happy dance. You can’t go wrong with any of the dishes. The vegan fried spring rolls are AH-MAZING! Their food is spicy, so if you can’t handle spice don’t get mild spice. It’ll be too hot for you, trust me.
Service: They are usually short staffed but they stay on it.
Atmosphere: Its a hole in the wall but thats usually where all the good food is coming from.
Final thoughts: Fave Thai place in the city. They are closed on Saturdays which is weird.
I recently dined at Thai House Restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. I ordered the Thai basil fried rice with chicken and a Thai iced tea, and both were absolutely delicious.
The Thai basil fried rice was packed with flavor and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The dish had just the right amount of spice and the basil added a wonderful aroma. The portion size was generous and it was served piping hot.
The Thai iced tea was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. It was sweet and creamy, with a hint of spice that complemented the flavors of the fried rice.
The service at Thai House Restaurant was also excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that I had everything I needed throughout my meal.
Overall, I highly recommend Thai House Restaurant for anyone looking for authentic Thai cuisine. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I will definitely be returning.
We go to this place about once a week. Staff is excellent and remembers us plus our order at this point. Very friendly team and they just remodeled exterior of building. Inside is always clean and fresh flowers on the tables every time. 100% our favorite place in OKC!
Wasn't impressed food stinks service was okay the place itself did not smell good I don't like smelly restaurants

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! NICE SERVICE
Definitely check this Thai food our for yourself! I enjoyed my experience.
Best authentic Thai food in town. Be prepared to wait.
Honestly, don’t waste your time here. Customer service was okay, however, the food was very bland. I got the Thai masaman curry and my partner the pineapple curry and it was very watery . No authentic flavor at all, the rice was stale and the portion size was minimal for the price point. Don’t waste your time or your tastebuds!
Food(IF YOU SMELLLLLLL)! Music! & Service by Logan were impeccable!
Not busy at all on a Tuesday at 2 pm. Great Pad Thai.
The food is very good. You won't be disappointed
This thai food was AMAZING, and I’ve lived in NYC and L.A. Anyone who has said a negative thing about this place is lying to get attention.
I've eaten in a couple of Thai restaurants here in OKC, but Thai House is the best for me. Their food is packed with flavors, similar to the Thai restaurant I used to go to growing up. I had their Pad Thai, and the noodles were cooked very well, not soggy or falling apart. The Tom Yum soup was perfect for this cold weather.
Lunch special is a great deal, and the food delicious!
They definitely seemed pretty badly understaffed on the Friday afternoon I was there last, however. Some of the other customers were a bit less understanding, but the two women who were working the floor and counter were super friendly and doing a great job despite how busy they were.
I’m glad to work across the street so I can come here as often as I want, it’s one of the best places in Uptown!
The food here is amazing! I always have the chicken panag curry, and it never fails me! I compare all curry dishes to this! The sauce is very creamy but thin and superb! My friend had the Hawaiian chicken fried rice, and he loved it. The portions were huge, and neither of us finished our meals. This place is clean, and the service is usually spot on. This particular visit we received our bill too early but aside from that, it was decent service. I visit this place almost every visit to SA!
This place was really neat! It was my first time there, but the food was awesome! The group I went with got the spring rolls, and everyone’s dish looked amazing. I got the Thai chicken noodle soup and I tell you it was absolutely delicious. Our server was kind and so was the lady working there. Great place and great food!!
Great food. Love their MooPing. The reason I left 4 stars was because I called in advance so by the time I got there I could pick it up. I was left on hold for 30 minutes and my order was never taken. Needless to say I got to the place before they got back on the phone, and had to wait another 30/45 minutes.
Went for lunch and ordered from lunch menu. Which you pick 4 options from about 12. Portions were good and filled up myself and guest ordered from lunch menu pick 4 too and loved his food. First time going and will definitely. Great bang for buck.
Food is great but service is Horrible
Definitely-5 take forever they don’t even check on you or acknowledge you
It’s bad definitely a place where if you want to eat good but be aware you’ll be waiting for a while and you will get a horrible service.
Waited almost 40 minutes and then I had to call the waiter to get some stuff like refills and napkins
The food is amazing. Probably our new favorite spot
I’ve ordered several times through Uber eats and it’s really good!
Being coming here for over 25 years. I ordered to go pad Thai noodles(3). Food was late, food was over cooked, noodles sticking together and very small portions for over $50 + tip! Seem like everywhere in US. This is the case. But in Germany or Brazil, the food always good and affordable!

Their portion sizes have gotten noticeably smaller.

Last visit was 8/18/24. My Thai salad was not tasty as an expected. We also ordered Thai curry and it was ok. It took us 40 minutes to get an appetizer. Service was not good. Very slow. Unfortunately used to be one of the best Thai buffets in town. Not anymore……
decent food. bad odor in the restaurant.
One of my favorite neighborhood spots
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. My party of six arrived for lunch and quickly placed our orders, but after 45 minutes, only three of our meals arrived. After waiting an hour, the remaining three orders still hadn't been served. We eventually had to leave because the wait was far too long.
To make matters worse, smaller tables of two were served before us, and we noticed takeout orders being delivered while we were still waiting. It was clear that the restaurant was severely understaffed, with only one person handling orders, serving food, and managing payments.
While the food we did receive was good, the extreme wait time and disorganization overshadowed it. I can't recommend this place based on my experience.
Stopped on our way through OKC from Phx. GREAT! The red curry was delicious and the unique “Thai green eggplant” in the dish was special. Worth trying for sure
I can't say enough good things about this place. If I were on death row, I'd request Thai House as my last meal
Ordered take out timing said an hour I arrived an hour later and everything was hot and fresh, and very good! Worth the wait! Thank you!
Y'all!!! Been looking for a good Thai restaurant like we have back home in Texas & man I think we have finally found the place!!!! I got the Tom yum soup, husband got the Pad see ew and daughter got the chicken fried rice, let me tell you it did not disappoint!!! Delicious! Our server was a younger kid and he was super nice too!! Also the spring rolls were super good too!
Took a trip to Thailand recently and was craving Khao Soi. Thai House didn't disappoint! Our boys loved the lunch special and Thai tea as well. We will be back!
Our server was super nice, but the food was horrible!!! I’ve had Lao style papaya salad all my life and that was by far the worst papaya salad I have ever ate! Tasted like padek and msg with no other flavors to balance. We asked to have it fixed and it wasn’t much better. I couldn’t eat it.
The sausage was okay, not very flavorful. The Nam Khao tasted weird. It’s pretty bad when we are Asian, love Thai and Lao food and even finish any of our food and we were starving! Their Americanized noodle dishes might be better idk but these dishes were terrible.
Delicious!
Food was good but my to go order turned from a 20-25 minute wait to 40 minutes!!
I'm from N.W. Oklahoma & have been craving Thai food for 4 years now! This was fabulous & had wonderful flavors!! 😋 The 2 young gentlemen working the front were awesome! Very attentive & were perfect with their recommendations! 🪷🥢🍚🥡🥠🍶🫖
Thai House used to be good. Now it take 1.5 hours to get a to-go order ready. Plus, there’s barely any A/C in the restaurant. Definitely has gone downhill in the last few years.
We were visiting from San Francisco (to visit a college) and needed some good Asian food. So HAPPY we found this place. The food is delicious! The portions are generous and the service is friendly. We ordered: tom yum goong, pad thai, crab fried rice, pad kee mow, Thai iced tea, and ALL were delicious! Highly recommend!!!
Good food but the decor leaves a lot to be desired
Best Thai in Oklahoma
Waited more than an hour for a to go order. We walked in with another group that sat down to eat. That group was able to eat and leave by the time we got our food. I complained to my wife and a server over heard and said "I mean, we have other to go orders." I said "yeah, but we have waited an hour". The entire time the staff never updated us and only apologized while giving us our food. It wasn't a big order either, two noodle plates and curry. This was our first and last visit here.
I recently dined at Thai House Restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. I ordered the Thai basil fried rice with chicken and a Thai iced tea, and both were absolutely delicious.

Quality and food taste has gone way down! Higher prices but smaller Portion. The fried rice still has clumps and no flavor at all. Me and my friend both had stomach ache after eating here. Will not coming back after 10 years at this place!
Lacking of taste on Black Pepper Garlic Shrimp. NO black pepper on my shrimp.
Excellent service!
The staff was disinterested in getting us sat, and they also weren’t eager to clean any dirty tables. Sat for 15 minutes in storefront waiting for a table while one lady ran the register. It was my friend’s birthday, and she was invested in eating here, so we waited. One of the employees likes to stretch his arms over his head to show us his navel frequently, that was our entertainment. It was 20 minutes or so after we ordered to actually get our lunch, felt like too long. When it arrived I took one bite and that was all. I ordered the fresh spring rolls, she ordered a rice dish. Neither items were fresh food like some of the pretty pictures I’m seeing included with these reviews! My spring roll was hard and weird, probably made a day or 2 before? My friend’s food didn’t look any better, looked like it came out of a can. She seemed happier with hers than I was, so I gave a 2 star response. I’m going to steer her to another restaurant the next time we meet for lunch. Maybe somewhere with good food, clean restrooms and a parking lot without big craters.
My favorite Thai restaurant in town. Curry is bomb as are many of the fried rice and pork dishes I’ve tried. This is my ultimate comfort food place. The fermented pork appetizer is my absolute favorite
Good Thai food
Great place and the place around it is my style too so it's really nice, the food is great I often clean my plate here and the service is a little lacking due to short staff but it's nice either way. Nothing to hate on, but nothing to love on except the food.
Food is good most of the time.
Both the pineapple fried rice and sweet & sour chicken were bland, tasteless, and nothing to brag about. Ate maybe 1/3 of each and decided that was enough not to stay. All these raving reviews below obviously by people who do not regularly dine at good establishments much less have good Culinary taste buds.
No longer offering a lunch buffet. That was the only reason I went out of my way to try this place. In and out in 20 seconds. Don't currently advertise a buffet if you've stopped doing that. Now I'll go try somewhere else.
Best Thai food in town
Regrettably, my recent experience was not satisfactory. I visited the place during the lunch rush, a circumstance I accepted without complaint. Additionally, I did not object to the consolidation of my large group order into a single container nor did i had a problem with employee deliver one of my orders to another patron, resulting in a prolonged wait for the preparation of my own order. However, I found issue with the conduct with the said employees behavior. While I understand the possibility of being overwhelmed during peak hours, I was troubled by the lack of follow-up after being told that they will come back with an estimated wait time and just disappears leaving me standing at the counter, instead of just properly communicating with me. Upon querying the employee about the wait, I received a response indicating a high volume of orders, which I comprehended. However, I would have preferred for them to verify the wait time (since i place the order 45 mins prior) rather than simply stating the workload and then disappearing. Subsequently, when my name was called, I anticipated completing my transaction but was disregarded in favor of attending to other patrons and just the said employee just leaves and does not saying anything. Another employee comes in finally and was at least decent enough to communicate the problem. But unfortunately this initial encounter with the other employee left a sour experience. I didnt feel welcomed or acknowledged.
I ordered pad thai from this restaurant for the first time. I was severely disappointed I assumed it would not be warm since I had it delivered but it was congealed and hardly any sauce and tasted like fish though it had none in it unfortunately I won't be ordering from here again I will say the egg rolls were fairly decent.
Incredible food, and wonderful service! We tried a handful of things and each one was so flavorful and delicious. I will definitely be visiting again soon!
The food was absolutely wonderful. Authentic recipes. Atmosphere is just a nice quiet place.
I ordered the beef pad Thai. I ordered it hot. And the spice level was perfectly balanced.
My wife had the cashew chicken and it was so mellow in flavor and balanced that it was refreshing to taste.
Good lunch combo deals!
A true gem! I tried this place for the first time and ordered 3 dishes to get a good sample of their menu. Little did I know I was going to love each of the dishes. very unique and exquisitely made. Drinken noodles were a standout by itself, but then there was the short rib ramen. I just…need… more. Sooooo good, couldn’t recommend them enough!
Walked in about 8:30 on a Friday night and it was completely empty besides one other table - a bit worrisome. Was greeted with the friendliest staff and the service stayed at that level with our waiter and throughout our entire dinner. Food took a little longer than expected to come out (probably close to twenty minutes), which seemed a little surprising considered how dead they were, but it did appear that they had quite a few to-go orders. Food came out very hot and fresh. I ordered the Thai Basil with Beef, medium spice, and boy let me tell you, if you don't do well with spice, either order the mild or even no spice - this absolutely lit me up. My girlfriend ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and it had great flavor. Prices were very reasonable in my opinion, would visit again!
Great service and delicious food!
Food was okay. Amount given was a little less than the container? Felt that the ingredients are a bit misleading. Ordered red and green curry, both were missing bamboo. May not be a big deal but if you’re saying something should be in the dish, add it. That’s the point of it all.
Pad Thai is off the chart. Excellent staff and food
Amazing service, amazing red curry and steamed dumplings! I will be back!
Awesome place. Great service. Very nice place.
Three of us went, one food didn’t come out after completed fished meals… asked for multiple times to check on the food. Would not go back.
Best restaurant in town. I go here at least 3x a month<3 their moo ping + thai tea is worth any wait time.
Excellent food and service.
We’ve done take-out now three times and each time our order looks completely different in sizes. We were pumped the first time, sharing a papaya salad, pad Thai and a small Tom yum and all looked fabulous. The last two times we’ve had a tiny salad ($13 salad that should maybe cost $5 at the size) and HALF the portion we got of pad Thai the first time. Not worth the $$. Plus ticket times are always an hour +. We just moved near here and we will be driving back up to North 20 mins to a more reliable restaurant.
Food is always amazing and service is usually good if you go during early dinner hours
Food is amazing!!!
I had the beef meatball style rice noodles and it was delicious! Despite the appearance it wasn’t spicy which is what I hoped for. My one issue is that they only put in 2 beef meatballs when more was expected. I will come back however and try the curries.
Nobody can match their food... best food you'll EVER eat in your life!!!' Been eating here for over 25 years follow them wherever they go just like Family!
Eat here! It's amazing! The larb is on point and the curry is fantastic! I've not once had any issues with their food, regardless of if I dine in, take out, or order through doordash.
I can't keep myself from going to this establishment. The dishes are divine.
The people here are so friendly! However I will say if you want something vegetarian (outside of the veggie egg rolls which are actually pretty damn good) you should probably look elsewhere, I’ve tried curries here and some pad kee mow and both times it felt like there was just something lacking
Amazing Thai Food, Best Tom Yum Soup! My favorite place for sure. If was closer to home would eat there many many more time. Staff is amazing here. Even though they are short staffed like many other restaurants, they still have amazing service. Moo Ping has to be the best pork skewers I have ate in my life. Their broth for Tom Yum Soup is absolutely my favorite. I'm a fan of others too but if I have a choice I'm coming here. I just tried the Tom Ka Ta Lay, for the first time, Wow, impressed, same base as Tom Yum for what I've read but it has coconut milk in it, so the spicier the better. The coconut milk makes the spice level better. I love spicy and you can get that here without taking away flavor!! If you like Thai food and have never tried this place, give it a go. Let me know what you think!!! I'm always a sucker for amazing food!!! And it's still amazing! Staff is Awesome and the food is Awesome! Went back this evening
My first time to have Thai and it did not disappoint.
This was my first time trying Thai food and I absolutely enjoyed it. The service as amazing as soon as I walked in the door. Then when I got my food and took it home, it was so fresh, hot, and very delicious! I got the chicken and shrimp pad Thai and added some broccoli and we got the seafood fried rice (mild), the flavors were delectable! This is my new spot! I am highly impressed!
It takes a long time to get your food
This was my first time having Pad Thai. It was amazing. This is my new favorite spot. Fried spring rolls are huge and yummy. The owner is just so kind , I had a lovely conversation with her. I’ll continue to return to this place. So glad my friend recommended this to me. 🔥
Amazing Amazing food!!!
The service is just okay. But the food is definitely worth it! Highly recommended
food was great. i ordered takeout and it was ready when they said it would be. i had a curry with dried catfish. the spices tasted authentically exotic. i chose mild spiciness but it still had some strong spiciness to it. my girlfriend had veggies and tofu. i did not think this item was authentic or unique it seems to be served at even chinese-american places. she enjoyed her meal however. overall this is an enjoyable restaurant if you want to momentarily escape to a far away land albeit if only in culinary experience.
Great 5 stars restaurant.
Good Service and Food
Solid Thai food. Interesting menu. Although they seemed a little understaffed, the service was great.
Weren’t as attentive as I wished. We sat for almost a whole hour before we ate for sure. Servers were nice they were fixing up the place but it smelled super strong. Papaya was okay def won’t be back though.
Great food and service every time!!
My fresh spring rolls had little black bugs in it some were alive and some were dead, I assume the lettuce was not washed at all. The bathroom has a sign to please not flush toilet paper and to throw it in the trash instead. I have been here many times… this experience was my last and final time. The food is decent but this place is extremely unsanitary.
Dirty, poor service, lacking atmosphere, empty even on a Friday evening. The place needs a serious makeover. This is to the management. You need to do much better for a good review! Read above..
I have ate there in a while. So I thought I would get some food. I got pad Thai with chicken and some sesame chicken. Half way through eating pad Thai. I noted that it kinda smelled funny. A little bit later I felt sick.. I ended up throwing away almost $40 of food with tip. Not happy...
And the price was a little high for what it was. ( just a side note i ate there a few times before it was great!) Gone down hill lately. 😔
The wait takes too long we were even about to decide to leave
Good service, little short staffed but the food is just average
Great food. Love the beef salad!!
I've just had dinner at this place. I'm vegetarian and so my options are very limited. I did have the panang curry which was yummy but the portions are small. You won't have any leftovers. Overall, the experience was OK.
7/2/2023 - I ate here again for the 2nd time. This time I had the V11 menu item "Tofu Stir Fried." It had a mix of silken tofu coated in batter to make it more solid, fried tofu, and mock chicken (which tasted realistic) with a side of steamed white rice. I thought the meal was OK. I would order another vegetarian menu item if I ever come back here. My first impression upon walking into the restaurant was not great. There was a fly on the set out plate and there was an ant on the table which I killed with the provided napkin. I still ate here (cause I needed to eat) but it didn't leave a great impression. So I changed my previous 4 stars to 3 stars. It was an OK experience.
Best Thai. Everything we’ve tried was delicious
Sorry. We trusted the review in Oklahoma Today but were greatly disappointed. Peeling paint off the floor, dirty tablecloths, very dusty, and a sour odor everywhere. Food was okay, nothing special. Our waiter was very nice and friendly who really liked her job. But ... Not going back.
Best Thai restaurant in OKC!
I have ate Thai all over the world and this is the worse thai I have ever ate!
This is always a great place to eat !!! Everything’s good .
10/10 service and professionalism by JoAnn and Eric— incredibly busy dinner service and these two were by themselves handling it like champions. I watched several customers be very rude to them about wait times. Which obviously they cannot control. They deserve recognition.
We ordered chicken Thai fried rice with Pineapple Chicken. It was delicious and a must have when visiting here!
The best Thailand food I've had since I moved here 2 yrs ago!!! Already been there a few times.....Myself being half Indonesian,, this is up my alley....Keep up the great work!!!
Absolutely Delicious!!! I’ve never had tasted Thai good so good!!!! It’s what you would taste when cooked by your family, full of love and flavor!!!! Makes you come back more and more and always consistent!!!!
The pad thai was horrific. Smelt like wet dog. Was completely put off eating. Will not be coming back
The service here by the manager was excellent and hospitable. The food was delicious and they gave us big portions. Highly recommended.
Nice people great food
5/5 for the quality of the food served and amazing service.
The pad Thai is awesome and when you ask for spicy they take you seriously. 🔥 The curry is also delicious and I recommend the iced Thai tea, so creamy!
Hands down the most flavorful dishes comes out of this kitchen with excellent portion sizes.
The stadf is friendly, very soft spoken. And, the food is always good.
