The last time we ate here was around 2020. They used to have a buffet that we really loved. Today we ate lunch here and truly enjoyed it. They have daily specials and the portion size is just right. We went on a Wednesday and selected from the lunch special. I chose the General Chicken that was crispy and not soaking in sauce, the Massaman curry, chicken spring roll, and Pad Thai. Our meal was prepared to our satisfaction and delicious. The service was and always has been wonderful. If you haven't tried this restaurant, I recommend you give it a try.

The yellow curry with a hint of spice with hot jasmine tea (made with real leaves, not bag) was the perfect palate pleaser on a hot summer day. Try the fresh flavorful seafood salad or Panang to spice things up in your life!

Our usual order (and recommendation) for the past twenty years is meekrab and spring rolls to start, evil jungle chicken (spice lvl 2), pork fried rice (with a ladle full of curry), and chicken pad thai. We always look forward to coming down to Norman.

Food was ok. The fried rice was a bit bland, as well as the Pad Thai. The spring rolls were really good, though. The Prik Nam Pla wasn't spicy at all. Being half Thai, I'm pretty critical of Thai restaurants. The food took about 35 to 40 minutes. Definitely not fast. I'm just in town visiting and would probably go back in a pinch, but wouldn't be my go-to for Thai.

This is such a hidden Gem. The pad Thai was absolutely amazing the curry was super tasty as well. The owner and his wife are the sweetest. Don’t forget to try a tasty drink before you leave! I suggest the honeydew melon slush it was fantastic. We will be back absolutely loved this place.

Update 2024: I had forgeten I had been here til I walked in the door. Checked the reviews and the recent ones were all positive, but the food is just not good. It all tastes flat. It's cooked fine, but no seasoning.

2022: I was disappointed. The General's Chicken was just a bunch of crunchy chunks of breading; very little meat. The Pad Thai had very little seasoning.

If you love Thai food go somewhere else. You will be severely disappointed if you go here! On top of not being spicy (how do you make curry not spicy?!) It was bland, chalky, and unbalanced. I took two bites and couldn't finish my curry. We left 95% of the food on our table (the satay was ok). My partner went to pay for our drinks and appetizer and the guy said next time have something else and comped our drinks, but not the horrendous food. There will not be a next time. Go to Thawan on the west side!

This is the 2nd time ordering here and it was bland and flavorless each time. The only thing that had any flavor was the house curry. When I brought the food home, I had to added soy sauce, hot sauce, and oyster sauce just to get any taste other than ginger water.

This is the best Thai food in Norman if not the metro, especially for the price. Pre-covid they had THE Best buffet offered around but sadly it hasn't come back. The daily specials are fabulous however and anything that was offered on the buffet is available to order à la carte. The restaurant is plain with simple furnishings but definitely in keeping with the humble authenticity of a truly good Thai find. It's an owner operated, family business. They are sweet people and definitely remember you when you keep coming back!

Thai Kum Koon is unquestionably the best Thai restaurant in Norman. We have lots of good Thai restaurants, of that there's no doubt. But Thai Kum Koon's food, even when eating from the buffet, is hot and delicious. I like their new location next to Homeland on Alameda because it reflects the quality of their food better than their previous space. Their larb is beyond compare, and their green curry is divine. They have vegetarian and vegan offerings on their Buffet as well as menu . You won't be disappointed if you go to another Thai restaurant; as I said we have many that are good. But Thai Kum Koon has been around for a long time and I suspect they'll be here for a while. Enjoy!

Best Thai in Norman! Strongly recommend any curry, stir-fry, (or my personal favorite the curry stir-fry). Five spice shrimp is also really good. Portions are amazing, and they don't skimp on the rice, like other Thai places.
Prices have gone up due to covid and inflation, etc. but are still super reasonable!

Best Thai food in Oklahoma area

This was a college favorite and we were scared they closed for good. So happy to see they just moved! The spring rolls are phenomenal and you can't go wrong with their pad Thai or pad sieu.

This is one of our favorite restaurants that we have been going to for years. They have some great food there, like my absolute favorite dish the hot and sour eggplant. They have a lot of great options, the staff are nice, and we usually don't have to wait too long for our food.

Authentic Thai Food--they have traditional dishes that most Thai restaurants are too shy to list on their menu as well as your more usual curries and stir fries.

Super friendly owners/chefs. Plenty of authentic choices for the adventurous and not so adventurous. My favorite things are the Vegetable Thai fried rice, pot stickers and pickled pork soup.

Lunch special was amazing, great price and wonderful food! This place is a good option if you are vegetarian or eating less meat as well. The veggie dishes are flavorful and filling; my garlic stir fried vegetables were to die for and the tofu curry was perfect.
The Vietnamese coffee was also delicious and got me through my long work day.

Me and my boyfriend love this place , seafood tofu hotpot is to die for. Tomato egg is also another personal favorite, definitely order from the chef rec on the back everything is a gem and never dissapoints

This place is bar none, the best Thai food in town. When I got back from a month in Thailand, I ate all over town for something that tasted authentic to take me back to that magical place. Thai kum koon, hands down, is that place. I would eat here everyday if I could afford it, though prices are incredibly reasonable. I would try to get a job here just for the perks, but I believe this is a family run place, which adds sooo much to it's charm. It's always the same cook and the same service people when the owner is not there, which I've actually never encountered. He's there from open to close doing most of the customer interfacing himself. So I just try to eat here as often as I can. My favorites: himapon, massaman, and pad thai. Their mango sticky rice is also a must for me. I've been eating here for about 20 years now, and as long as I live in Norman, I will be a proud loyal Thai kum koom groupie...

I've gone here a few times now. I usually get something basic. The Pad Thai and the Tom Yum soup are both really good. But today I had to leave a bad review because I tried to order something new... and it was terrible. I ordered pork Hong Kong noodles. There was nothing at all good about it... The noodles were undercooked and overcooked in parts. There was no discernable flavor apart from salt. I'm not giving 1 star because they have had some good dishes otherwise, but the fact that this one dish was served to me was actually so disappointing. Should a restaurant deserve a bad review for one dish? I'm not sure, but if you tasted what I did, I think you would understand.

My all-time absolute favorite place to get Thai food. Whenever I want the best Pad Thai in the state, I go here. The environment makes you feel like you're having dinner at a best friend's house rather than a restaurant. The staff are so kind and make absolutely mouth-watering food. This place is amazing and I will always come back. If I could give it 6/5 stars, I definitely would.

Hidden gem that has, in my opinion, the most consistent quality of food you'll find. Owners are so friendly and don't make you feel rushed if you have questions or ask for modifications. My hope is one day the world will return to some degree of normalcy for I've heard their lunch buffet was amazing. Can't wait to try it.

I've heard so many good things about this place I finally decided to give it a try. While they aren't opened for their lunch buffet (sigh), you can order off the menu for carry out. We picked up the e dishes all of which were delicious, fresh and beyond ample in size. There are enough leftovers to probably make another meal for the 4 of us. Biggest takeaway for me was how very friendly they were. Definitely in our rotation of go to places from hereon out.

The prices are extremely reasonable compared to similar places in Norman. I highly recommend the Panang, which is an amazing dish with vegetables and chicken in a creamy sweet and spicy curry sauce. Customize the spice level to your taste!

My first visit and WOW! I Had the Tom Yum Shrimp Soup (small). Really really good. And a lot of soup for the money. Then had the Phad Phed DEEP Fried Filet Catfish with Green Beans in mild curry sauce topped with Crispy Basil Leaves. A Truly delightful adventure. Update. 20-Jun-2020. They do dine-in, but no buffet.

This little establishment is the closes to my heart. I have been going to this place since I moved to Norman, about 12yrs ago. The staff is friendly and is on a personal level with all their customers. I always feel like I'm at home, away from home. The Thai food is wonderful and is authentic however they know me. The cooks always prepare my meals the way Thai food should taste when I order my dishes. I'm not sure if all the food tastes that authentic, or if they prepare it the way I like it and I appreciate. It means a lot to me because I have days when I'm really busy at work and I don't have time to cook my own dishes. I highly recommend the lunch buffet and all of the dishes. My favorite dish is the plain sticky rice and a whole fried tilapia with the papaya salad. Spicy level 5

I've been eating here for about 7 years now and people at my job are starting to enjoy it as well. This place has the nicest staff, very family oriented and they're food is amazing! They also have a coffee and smoothie bar now. They're iced coffees are twice as good as starbuck's at a fraction of the price! Try it once and you'll be hooked.

I almost didn't include the lunch buffet bargain.(because I want to keep it on the downlow) Thai Come Soon!!!! It echoes in my head and I salivate thinking about the next time I get go eat some evil jungle chicken.

I freaking love this place!! The quality of food is always *exactly* the same. I order it, it's always just as amazing as it was the last time. Food portions are enormous, 3 people can eat one plate easy. Very decently priced, 3 of us can eat for about $20. Staff is very nice, they remember us and joke around with my son and try and feed him sweets.

This place is really good! Their food had really good flavor and was the perfect temperature. The chicken satay was an amazing appetizer we also got the Po-Tak soup that had the perfect temperature and the other one we got was the PIneapple curry which i hightly recommend as well.Their rice was also on point!
