Flavors of North Thailand in downtown Oberlin. Chef Aon creates authentic northern Thai cuisine in a colorful, vibrant setting. Delicious food and excellent drinks make ThiNi Thai one of Northeast Ohio's best restaurants.
Great food here! The best and most authentic Thai food in the greater Cleveland area.
Edit: Downgraded from 5 stars to 3 - Food in restaurant is amazing but take out was very sub par. Portions were half of what you get dining in for the same price and the quality was not the same (not as fresh).
Excellent food and cocktails (including some truly delicious mocktails). Everything we've tried has been so good. Love the quirky decor. Plenty of colorful things to look at while you enjoy a tasty meal. Love it!
First time I've ever tried Thai food and it was amazing... Every meal was just a flavored and spiced so unique!!! I definitely fell in love with the atmosphere and the service that was provided!!! 10 out of 10 for me!!!!! I also fell in love with the atmosphere and the decor all around, so vibrant and inviting!! We will definitely be coming back as regulars!!! Ohhhh... and their Mocktails.......... OMG!!! Go try them out!!! Also... Everything we ordered was Vegetarian and Vegan!!! That was just the most amazing feeling to have.. .. so many options!!
Upon entering Thi Ni Thai, I was greeted by a friendly hostess and the fragrant aromas of lemongrass, basil, and coconut emanating from the kitchen. The outdoor patio provided the perfect ambiance for a relaxed dining experience.
The menu boasts a wide array of traditional Thai dishes from savory curries and stir-fries to aromatic soups and noodle dishes with vegetarian and vegan options. Wait staff were knowledgeable about the menu and made helpful recommendations.
During my recent visit, I tried several dishes, including Thi Ni Tofu, Yum Brussel Sprouts, Khan Soi Curryπ and sticky rice with homemade coconut π₯₯ ice cream π.
I highly recommend Thi Ni Thai for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Thailand in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
Amazing!!!! My bf and I dined in for the first time last night and enjoyed our whole experience!
The atmosphere is very relaxing and has a cute almost tiki bar feel to it by the colors and decor.
Our server, I believe her name was Madeline or Madison, was very friendly and informative, making sure to ask us about our dietary needs and if we have allergies. She seemed very well trained and made sure we were getting what we wanted.
Our drinks were delicious and I get so excited for unique cocktail menus, and theirs certainly didn't disappoint! I got the Thai Basil margarita, and my bf got their version of a whiskey sour.
We shared the spring roll appetizer that was on special, it had pork belly. Omg!!! The flavors were so bomb, and the sauce it came with was perfectly paired!!
My bf ordered the curry soup with ribs, and I got Shrimp and tofu phat Thai. Our dishes were so beautiful, and the flavors were so exotic, complex and balanced. The ingredients are fresh, their spices are authentic and we are so looking forward to coming back soon! My bf said that was the best meal he had all year, and we are serious foodies!!!
My first visit here. We tried both spring roll appetizers, which were very good. I had the shrimp phat thai and it was spot on taste wise and a generous portion. They have a really nice bar serving a variety of in house cocktails and I think it would be a perfect place to sit at the bar for a cocktail and appetizer. I will definitely return.
Excellent food and cocktails (including some truly delicious mocktails). Everything we've tried has been so good. Love the quirky decor. Plenty of colorful things to look at while you enjoy a tasty meal. Love it!
We loved the dishes we shared. Everything was delicious. The Burns family
Best Thai food I ever had.... amazing find in Oberlin Ohio....I love their Fried Rice with Tofu and even their Appetizer Tofu with their special spicy tangy sauce. Couldn't get better than this β€οΈβ€οΈ
Suggestion- I just wish they list themselves on Ubereats and Doordash and it would get more recognition.
Really great spot tucked away off the main drag in Oberlin. Creative cocktails based on Thai flavors, fresh food including dishes rarely seen in Thai menus in the US, let alone Ohio. Warm and helpful staff. A must-try in Oberlin.
Best food in Ohio. Period. Ambiance, staff, delicious drinks and inspirational, soul nourishing food. Doesn't get better than this <3
Brussel sprouts, spring rolls, tofu, Drunken noodles, green curry and veggie stir fry were all excellent! Highly recommend!
This place is AWESOME!! The food is so freaking good every time, and it has a great atmosphere. My family and I love it here. A must eat!
Great food here! The best and most authentic Thai food in the greater Cleveland area.

I love this place! We've never had a bad experience and the food is always fantastic! We visit often!

The food, service.... never disappoint!
The food here is life changing, I've never tasted anything with the same vibrancy of flavors anywhere else. Possibly the best restaurant I've ever eaten at!
Great service, specialty drinks and delicious food. The atmosphere is very nice. They grill outside on Thursdays and have many spicy options. Wonderful experience.
Excellent food and service, great vibe. The owner and chef came out to talk to us and shared his philosophy on blending food cultures. Great experience.
This is the best Thai food I've had in years.
We enjoyed our meal... It was very good, we sat outside, the service was really under staffed, one person for the whole patio. Very unattentive during our whole visit. We ordered a drink but apparently they were out of it... They never came back to tell us until the meal came.
Waited for over an hour to eat. Nice owner. If you want to go, go. I'm sure you will enjoy. I just had a not so great experience.
Gone here about five times over the past year, driving from Westlake (about 30 minutes). Each time at the end of the meal, I order another meal to go to have the next day for lunch. It's some of the best I've ever had and well worth the drive. Service is always good, sometimes a bit of a wait for a table but that's just because it's so good. My only issue, albeit small, is the benches or stools for seats. I've got a bad back so I try to get a seat at one of their booths so I can be against a wall. I'm assuming they have those type of seats so people don't hang their too long.
Stopped for a light lunch. Delicious and incredibly flavorful.
A must

I couldnt get past the fact they have no seating with backs. Hard pass for me.
My companion and me visited earlier today to have dinner.
Firstly, the restaurant has no seating with back support but just stool style seats. I dont like uncomfortable seating and we agreed to order for take out and eat outside - using a back-supported seats by nearby bakery.
One chief reason for a restaurant to exist is to offer great food, another is to make guests comfortable to enjoy it. So many neglect the comfort factor.
We ordered 2 grilled beef salads, picked them up after 20 minutes - package was suspiciously lightweight.
Turns out we got just the grilled beef with cilantro and dipping sauce but no salad.
Food was very good. Service and dining facility - awful.
We love everything about Thi Ni Thai!
Love this place! Where else can I get Khao Soi this good outside of Chiang Mai?!
First time I've ever tried Thai food and it was amazing... Every meal was just a flavored and spiced so unique!!! Went here with a friend, waited an hour. Customers who were seated 45 minutes after us received their food first. I got my food and my friend's took an additional 20 minutes to arrive. The staff basically ignored us until I received my food. Inexcusable. Avoid this place.
First time here. I loved how colorful and fun the decor and atmosphere was. The food was delicious and had many options for vegan/vegetarians. The brussel sprouts and Thini tofu are a must especially with the various chili sauces that are on the table. They have a large mocktail list and I got the passion fruit mojito that was delicious. The server was incredibly helpful with recommendations. Will definitely return.
This was very disappointing. We arrived and it was busy so we sat at the bar. We waited over an hour for our food to come out. Lots of other parties who arrived after us received their dishes and finished and left before our food even arrived. No one communicated that the food was running late and we had to ask about our meal after 50 min... when it finally arrived it was all brought out together, our appetizers and main meals. They were variations of cold and hot (temperature wise) like they had set the curry aside for 30 minutes. They forgot the grilled chicken I ordered and that came out immediately? The food was ok. It wasnt the best Thai I've had and while we were kind to the servers and tried to be patient, waiting over an hour for even a brussel sprout appetizer to come is unacceptable. We won't be coming back here. We travel a lot and this might have been the longest I've waited for food ever. Especially with no communication. Sad. There's promise here but can't get past the $ spent for a very poor experience.
Hands down the best Thai food Iβve ever tasted. The whole atmosphere of this restaurant was just awesome. The bright colors, lanterns, and decor really transported us as soon as we walked in the door. The cocktail list was amazing and my favorite drink was βThe sanctuary of truth.β Every single dish we tried was delicious, and our server was really helpful. We will definitely be coming back to this spot every time we are in Northeast Ohio.
Our first time and both food and service were superb. The roasted brussel sprouts were the absolute best. OMG! Will definitely be back. Soooooo good. And the Thai beer was great!
Amazing food and experience. Our server, Hannah was fantastic.
Best food Iβve had in my life. Favorite restaurant of all time
AMAZING!! Highly recommended. Service is exemplary, atmosphere is lovely, food is delicious. Recommend the brussel sprouts and pea shoots appetizers, the phat kee mao, and the coconut ice cream mango sticky rice
The Food here is excellent! It can be very difficult to prepare Thai cuisine, and even from Chang Mai region, as well. Now add that to finding this in Ohio farmland! I had Drunken noodles with beef. The beef was cooked well. The indoor vibe here is great and the early dinner crowd was very lively. I imagine the outdoor dining in summer is a lot of fun. If you havenβt had Thai cuisine before, donβt be shy to eat here.
khao soi was great, but the phat thai was weird and the tea leaves were scalded
This was our first time trying Thai food and it was amazing! Everything from the alcohol to dessert was delicious. And Victor was an excellent server. He explained all the dishes and was fun!
Great food and atmosphere.
Update: The owner contacted me and made things right. I am of the belief that this was an unfortunate mistake. I ordered take out. My entrees included the char grilled chicken. The chicken was fully pink and raw inside. I had already traveled 20 minutes to get home. Tried to call, no one picked up. Was told I was early for pick up when I arrived three minutes early, but had to wait ten minutes for food and no one offered to take my payment until my food was brought out.
A favorite restaurant of ours. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, I recommend this restaurant.
Best thai restaurant! Some favorites include green curry, Beef noodle, Spring rolls, and Panang.
The best frog legs I've had in this country, hands down. They know how to prepare them perfectly! It's such a hard dish to find and even harder to find someone who knows the best way to prepare them. It was a delight. I will be eating here every time I come to town.
Amazing!!!! My bf and I dined in for the first time last night and enjoyed our whole experience!
The atmosphere is very relaxing and has a cute almost tiki bar feel to it by the colors and decor.

Best Thai food outside of Chang Mai! Exceptionally authentic and delicious flavors, beautiful plating, and fresh ingredients. Thi Ni Thai can bring the heat, too, if you like spicy dishes! The vibe inside is also warm and inviting, great service. This is a really memorable restaurant, worth a special trip if you're passing through the area!
Just wow. Found this little gem on our way from DC to Michigan and now we stop here every single time we pass by. I've spent a few months in Thailand and this is by far the most authentic and delicious Thai food I've ever had outside Southeast Asia. Every dish is amazing, the staff is a joy to interact with, and the atmosphere is perfectly warm and eclectic. Don't change a thing! Would give 6 stars if I could!
Best Thai I've had in America.
Went to Oberlin to get tattooed and found this Thai place to eat lunch. The place is really cool inside and we were greeted warmly when walking in. Everyone was very nice and the food was outstanding. One of the top 2 Thai restaurants Iβve ever eaten at. Great experience!
Awesome food, made with love and cosy space with outdoor dining available during warmer weather.
Hands down 5 stars. Fun atmosphere, kind and attentive service and incredibly delicious food. Vegan and vegetarian friendly. I had the Brussel Sprouts and Phat Kaprow, both really tasty and elevated vs any other Thai in the area. A must go.
Our son is a student at Oberlin Conservatory so we went here to celebrate his 21st birthday. We couldnβt have had a better experience!! The food was very flavorful especially the fun sprout appetizer, the staff was amazing, so helpful and friendly. I highly recommend!!
By far our favorite restaurant in Oberlin!
This was hands down the best Thai food I have had. The food was flavorful and beautifully presented. The cocktails were very special as well!
First time, loved the food. We went on a Friday so it was very busy but we still were seated in a reasonable amount of time
This was my third visit and it was consistently as excellent as a previous dinner visit and carry out visit. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the service is prompt but unobtrusive.
Iβve been here a number of times and the food is always excellent! Plan on waiting over an hour for your food each time you
Go and do not expect refills
One of the easiest five stars I've given in a while. I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked in. The smells and decor immediately transport you away. The food menu is relatively small but had a nice variety of foods to try . The portions were great and the dish I tried was very flavorful with just the right amount of kick. They also have a decent size drink menu with some very unique options.
The atmosphere was very lively, especially for a Monday evening. They were pretty busy so service was a bit on the slower end but they were kind and helpful and we weren't in a rush so no real complaint. Can't wait to head back and try some of the other options on the menu
Go. To. Thi Ni Thai!
The owners worked very hard to bring authentic Thai to your area. The chef has ventured all the way from Northern Thailand to bring you all the favorites and ones you wish you knew about sooner. Wednesday they have a special grill night and those items are only available that day- plus, the town is embraced in the heavenly scent of what they have cooking up on the outdoor BBQ. Monday happy hour features half price cocktails until 6pm (Try the passion fruit mojito!)
My children and I went in for lunch yesterday. The interior is very cute and bright. Upon entering we were asked to wait to be seated despite there being open tables while they βchecked with the kitchenβ once the kitchen gave approval, we were seated. The waitress came and took our order. It took a very long time for our food to come and our waitress never returned to our table, the food was brought by someone else, no drink refills were offered. The food was not good and the needlefish was very fatty. Nobody came to our table with our check. I approached the manager at the register to get the check and paid there as well. We left a cash tip on the table and my kids and I left. The waitress and bartender chased us outside and yelled across the parking lot accusing me of skipping out on the bill, in front of my children and anyone else outside . I went back in the restaurant and confirmed with the manager that we were paid. Terrible food, terrible service and terrible experience overall.
Not a lot of choices and is not as flavorful as other Thai restaurants I have ate at. Service was good and its a colorful restaurant.
Brussel sprouts as an appetizer are a must... You won't want to share! Outdoor seating is comfy and colorful. Flavors are tasty combinations uncommonly found. Six diners with taste preferences of sissy mild to smoking hot enjoyed each dish. Seriously a delightful place to explore authentic Thai food!
Genuine and unique Thai cuisine. Great drink selection.
We ordered meals to go. I had the Chicken Phat Thai and was disappointed. There was no side of Chili sauce, the dish itself was not spicy but had a sweet flavor to it. The chicken added was minimal which were very small pieces of chicken thigh meat and a few halved peanuts thrown in.
I would not try this dish again but maybe Iβd try something different.
Very nice restaurant! Food was delicious, it was not ubsurdly loud, and the staff was very nice!
Great food, wonderful service, and they have done a tremendous amount of work to make it feel both really cool and really relaxing.
Great spot for lunch or dinner.
Oh so good. I got the fried rice and it was perfection, even better reheated next day. Sample the curry soup and it was just as good.
Wonderful place.
This place tries and fails to be authentic in my opinion. Youβll come to find that their sauces are a little weird in many of their dishes, especially in simple things like their pad Thai and phat Thai. The couple times Iβve went the service is either decent or miserable, especially when itβs busy. The things that they do well are ironically their non Thai dishes like the ribs for instance. Iβd recommend finding another place to try unless youβre looking to be disappointed.
I was amazed by how flavorful the dish I ordered was. It was kind of spicy, but wow! Everyone there was so nice, too.
Phat kaprow is amazing
Ribs are just ridiculous and the drinks are bomb. More please
The most fresh and flavorful food we've had in a long time!! Best Thai food we've ever had. Wishing we lived closer so we could come back more often. Ambiance was beautiful as well, from all the colors to the relaxing music. Love this place!
This is the best Thai food I have ever had!!! So delicious and feels fresh and healthy. The chicken in my phat thai was gorgeous and flavorful. I very much recommend it!
Loved, loved the Khao Soi (we had it with the very flavorful chicken). The pickled vegetables add this wonderful twist to the rich, delicious sauce. Also had the lamb dish, which had super-tender meat, but was just a bit more spicy than my ideal.
Great menu, great service, great preparation and ingredients. Highly recommend.
Nice variety on menu, good food and service. We will definitely be going back again soon.
great food, service was super slow and they were kind of struggling. hopefully they can figure that out bc food is 10/10.
SUCH GOOD FOOD!
Oberlin's best kept secret...
Authentic Thai food at its best everything was delicious... You must try it for yourself
Delicious food, different menu from many other Thai restaurants. Lunch & dinner menus are different, so you might not find what you were looking for if you go at different times. So much flavor, lighter on spicy level if you ask for "medium," but that's subjective. Wish the seats had backs bc they aren't very comfortable, but food & cocktail was great!
Amazing authentic Thai food. If you havenβt tried it yet and you have been thinking about it donβt wait to right now. Plenty of spice here and so tasty.
Every so often you go to place and are wowed. And this is the βwowβ place. The food is so good here I want to tell everyone. Be sure to make the drive and try everything in the menu. We had Khao Soi - with Ribs this coconut curry base comes in a large soup bowl with crunchy noodles and soft noodles. The owner came over and recommended that we squeeze fresh lime juice on it. The ribs we were so tender that the meat fell
off the bone. Our favorite was Phat Karpovβ¦chili paste, Thai basil, stir fry sauce and garlic. Just amazing. We had a chicken dish, Laap Chiang Mai looked mild and turned out to be a fiery masterpiece. And then Aon , the owner, and chef came out a brought us a complimentary portion of Gangnam Style Lamb. We are still talking about how soon we can come back. Go here!!
First time having thai food. Loved it. Especially loved the Thai tea.
Great food, great drinks.
Unique, pleasant atmosphere.
Cheerful, welcoming staff.
I had the Pat Thai with a side of brussel sprouts. (because the girl at the bakery told me to get the brussel sprouts, thank you!) .If I'm ever on death row I think I want this to be my last meal . Delicious
The food was delicious, loved the decor.
Not your traditional Thai. Kaprow was extremely salty. There are better Thai restaurants around. Bartender was extremely nice.
Excellent and exceptional!!!
the food is unbelievable! soooo delicious
Great food... I am planning a Thailand trip and trying to become more familiar with the culture... this place was recommended... it was like traveling to a different county inside... staff, manager and chef walked me through a taste of Thailand...drinks, appetizers and a main course... it was a great experience and the food was tasty
Phenomenal food. Will be back very soon. Fresh ingredients and great atmosphere. Can't wait to eat here again.
Amazing food, wonderful staff, great place to eat!
My fiance and I ordered tonight for his birthday after we experienced this place for our first time a few months ago. Incredible food, beautiful atmosphere, great staff, and this is where you go for authentic Thai cuisine!
I was really excited to have authentic Thai restaurant nearby since I grew up with so many great restaurants. Since moving to the Oberlin area, I was really missing the flavors of Thai cuisine. Sadly, I was extremely underwhelmed. The pad thai was dry and overly sweet, it tasted almost like pre-made sauce. It didn't have the complex flavors, lacked the yummy peanut butter flavor, had absolutely no spice (although the chili oil it came with was nice and worth the star) and half the container was salad. I've never ordered a pad thai and have the container be full of salad, especially since it doesn't say that on the menu. The sticky rice was a giant ball that my partner struggled to eat rather than a roll shape and the Thai tea was very underwhelming in flavor. So disappointing, especially for the price.
Delicious and authentic! Loved every morsel! Service was excellent!
Sweet, sour, hot, cold, creamy, zesty, any way you like it they have it. I dont have pics cuz we devoured our app and meals before I remembered to rate them! We had the wings and lamb nachos for appetizers. I had their steak with veg meal and my husband and daughter had the shrimp meal.
They have ginger beer, sugar cane sodas and alcohol drinks.
This is the place for a party in your mouth! We will be back later to try the noodle bowls they are known for by the students and locals.
Great authentic food!
A hidden gem of a restaurant. They specialize in northern Thai food so part of the menu is a different than typical Thai restaurants. We tried several dishes and we loved everything. Ribs and wings are finger-licking good - if you can take the heat.
Khao-Soi is a must try. Grilled chicken was delicious.
Be warned the food here is authentic Thai food so they can be spicy. Make sure to check with your server. There are many non-spicy options like the grilled chicken so there's something for everyone.
Overall I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely delicious! Able to adjust the spiciness, plenty of vegan/vegetation options.
I'm giving this a 5 for all the flavors that exploded in my mouth. Wow what a great combination of spices and veggies. The wins are amazing, like no other. Great friendly staff.
Delicious food and great service. The basil chicken is good, and the khao soi is to die for. Tasty drinks.
Awesome, authentic food!
A great spot with authentic Thai food (we have been to Thailand a number of times - and this brings back memories of good meals we have enjoyed). In addition to the tasty food, there are good cocktails and friendly service.
We have had dinner here twice and will be back. Particularly love the Brussel spouts, pea shoots, and Pad Thai - although every item we have had delicious.
Really really good very authentic everyone working there are is so friendly had a awesome time thank you
What an absolute joy it was to experience Thi Ni Thai! Some of the best food my wife and I have ever enjoyed! Caring enthusiastic staff who make you feel so welcomeβ¦such a comfortable spaceβ¦very authentic. We loved everything about our evening and are already planning our next trip back. Beware though once you dine here you will not want to experience Thai food at any other place again!!!
AMAZING FOOD!!!! Everyone is awesome that works there, I wish I could eat there everyday
The chicken khao soi curry is my favorite dish I've had in my life. Truly. The atmosphere on this tiny little spot is great, all the lighting is providing by colorful strings of lights and lanterns. The special cocktails are made to order. The menu changes sometimes. Such a great experience.
WOW!!! The food here was amazing and the drinks matched. My wife and I went here as a last resort to find something different to eat. The owner stopped and made some recommendations and we couldnβt have been happier. The entire meal I kept looking at my wife and saying wow this is good. After every sip we looked at each other and said wow. Just truly a great experience all the way around, thank you to the staff and owner for being so hospitable. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis.
Nice cozy place, excellent food and service. Been there a few times and has made it onto our short list of go to places.
My favorite place to visit is Oberlin when I come home, it's my 2nd home. My new favorite restaurant is Thi Ni Thai. I've been home since Dec. 6th and have come here 3 times, the menu is always fresh, atmosphere is authentic and the people who work here are genuine, always so welcoming and kind. Oberlin is a Gem, and this restaurant makes it shine
I was visiting family in Oberlin and Thi Ni caught my eye on Google Maps. I live in Northern Thailand part-time and have fallen in love with the food, and the city of Chiang Mai. So I was super excited when I found out that Khun Aon (the chef) is from Chiang Mai. I brought my whole family for food and drinks and everything was so delightful and delicious. The Isaan larb, Khao soi and ribs taste like they do in Thailand, and theyβre as spicy as I like it but for those who canβt take the heat there were milder dishes as well. Best of all was the warmth and friendly nature of the entire team. My family had a great time and sharing a bit of the Northern Thai taste with them in a small Ohio town was such a fun bonding experience. I will be so happy to come back again soon!
Best Thai food in town. Honestly some of the best Thai I've ever had, even though I blew myself up with spicy. Will definitely do it again!
So fresh and with great flavors. Love everything about this place.
Unique food in Oberlin. Authentic Thai!
Had the khao soi. It was like eating in Chiang Mai. The flavor was spot on. Then nabbed some phat Thai and that was awesome as well! Authentic and delicious!
This a cute little restaurant! The building isn't pleasing to eye but... Oh my goodness the food is beyond delish!! A burst of flavor in every bite and I'm not kidding! Don't pass up the opportunity to eat here.
Ate inside one time. It was pretty good. Ordered takeout and it was reminiscent of rotten slop. Never again. Hyped up.
The food was good. The prices were alittle high but food was good.
