We had a lovely experience at Basil Asian Bistro! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a casual meal. For our starter, we shared the crab rangoon. While it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, it hit the spot for what we were looking for.

My husband ordered the Pad Kee Mao with shrimp at the highest spice level. The flavor was good, but it didn’t quite live up to the spice level we were expecting. He also tried the spicy tuna roll and tekka maki roll. They were smaller than anticipated, but the taste was spot on.

I went for the Walnut Glaze Shrimp and absolutely loved it! The sweet and tangy flavor was the perfect balance, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The service was fantastic. Michelle took excellent care of us, always staying on top of our drink refills and checking in without being intrusive. She even helped us pack our leftovers, which was a nice touch.

Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back!

We had the BEST waiter ever! He was very attentive to all our needs and especially our “birthday girl”! Our food was served fast and hot with everyone getting the correct food without having to remind our waiter who got what! Had a great time with great food!

You can get it “regular” or with added spice, I got regular. We also got crab rangoons which were delightful as well as a lychee martini and espresso martini. Both drinks were delicious and the lychee martini had dry ice in it which was something I’d never experienced before. Our server was super friendly and helpful as well

2/18/25 I am so over eating at Basil’s. The pot stickers tasted like they were 3-4 days old and the Hunan Beef was just plain awful.
1/29/24 Update - My Hunan beef was completely bland, no spice at all. And they forgot forgot the crunch noodles for our Hot & Sour Soup. Again, don't order carry out, Basil's does not care one lick about carry out customers. They got the order wrong, they gave me pasty white rice. I do not recommend getting Carry out because there’s always something wrong but I love the dine in food and experience and service. If that’s all we did I would give them a five star. But the carry out is bad.

I walked in to get a carry out order. A door dash mind you. It wasn't ready. When it finally was ready the young hostess brought it out abd stapled it without her making sure it was right. I asked for extra sauce she asked if I ordered extra. I informed her I didn't order it. She went to grab sausage sauce I notice I'm missing my spicy crab rolls. She said "we don't have spicy crab rolls. " huh? They were sitting at the bar kind you. Whatever I take my order She says "did you pay for that" I said what it's a carry out.she runs over to the computer to check to see. The other girl comes over and says "it's a doordash she's good". No apologies from the girl or nothing.get a hostess that knows what they're talking about and has better customer service.

Great food with amazing service.

Basil has been one of my favorite places for years. The service used to be fine. Within the last year or so- I have literally had to go ask the hostess if we have a server..every time we go there. They just seat you and ignore you. So many workers walk past you and pretend they don’t see you. I don’t understand it. I’ve seen other reviews saying the same thing. Then they don’t check on you at all and when they do it’s so quick you can barely get a word in to let them know they forgot something. It’s a shame because the food is great but the service is really lacking. And they really don’t seem to care. We also waited 20 minutes after our reservation time.

Ok listen, I can’t even review the food or I would probably say something else cause it looks. Fire… but me and my pregnant girlfriend came to eat last week, but they were so busy we had to make reservations for the next Saturday. 8:00 we rolled up with reservations and laughed cause we didn’t even really need them, none the less we sat down in a room with not to many people but 7 tables (we are both servers btw) and we ended up sitting there for 35 minutes. Only had a couple waters dropped to us but I really was upset and we left. No one talked to us, I serve and so does my girl. We both were shocked with the situation cause that would never happen someone would say something but 35 mins in the middle of the room with water menus and blank faces…

Best food around by far!!!!

Order 3 different appetizers and ALL of them was delicious 5+! 21 of use had dinner and everyone loved their entree! I must go to if you are at the Palace Theatre in Canton or just downtown touring the Centennial plaza!

I'm not sure what happened with Basil in the kitchen. Their food used to be amazing but the last two times I've been quite disappointed. The staff used to know more about dietary restrictions but I also had issues with my last several visits.

This place didn’t disappoint. In fact Asian food is not my husband’s favorite. I picked this place 2hours away from home due to a state football game close by. The hospitality there was impeccable. Food was outstanding. Mr. Long Lee because of you it’s not only one of our favorites but we will be back from the Toledo area just to see you!. Thank you so much for making myself, my husband and my parents wonderful. Food is so flavorful. You made my mom’s birthday such a remember able experience: thank you again from all of us!!!

I went here a few months ago for a work outing and it was amazing! I have a slight shellfish allergy and the cook + server(s) were very attentive. I got the Korean sizzling steak, white rice and edamame and it was delicious!

Where do i begin? Excellent awesome fantastic these words aren't enough. From the expert staff moving in unison to meet your every need to the owner Tony, a remarkable example of ownership and culinary expertise. His welcoming demeanor and attention to detail in providing the BEST in Asian cuisine is unmatched.
The wonton soup is the epitome of comfort food, it's firm pork filled wonton floating in a flavorful broth is the very thing to warm your soul on a cold day. The sweet and sour chicken and pepper steak and lo mean are some of the best anywhere hands down. And the topper for me the pork fried rice with its generous portions of pork and vegetables supported by rice firm and tender at the same time. Tony and his staff are both a joy and a comfort in the search for proper and authentic Asian fare.
If an amazing atmosphere and unyielding flavor is what you want than look no further.
I could go on forever but to sum it up I will simply say this...
Go there and experience Basil Asian Bistro for yourself. Your only disappointment will be that your stomach isn't big enough for all they have to offer .

We went before an event at the nearby Palace Theatre. Despite our being a table of 12, service was fast, our food served quickly, Portions were generous and everyone was happy with their selections.

The hostess was darling and sweet at the greeting, and the Bussing staff was friendly and super on top of making sure our plates and waters were taken care of! Michelle was pleasant and very attentive! On top of everything! We will be back!

No photos, but we went for a birthday and the food was fantastic the beef stick appetizer comes with its own fire grill to char them to your liking.

The Thai curry was fantastic as well and they have Asian beers too.

When you pay $50 for two people, the wait staff should box up your left-overs. The waitress/waiter should also stop and see how the food is, actually taking the time to make sure all 8 people at the table are satisfied with their meal.

Refilling empty drinks should also happen.

None of this happened last night.

The food is suddenly mediocre as well. Crystal Shrimp dish was bland, the Fried Noodles & Beef tasted like a frozen dinner, crazy salty and fake beef flavor, and gummy noodles. Since the waitress didn't stop to see how the food was, we had no opportunity to say.

Awesome Nigiri, Sake and Curry Dishes. They have one of the most diverse Asian menus of any restaurant I've been to. Traditional stir fries, Curries, sushi etc. For those vegetarians and vegans out there this is a must-see place. And the service was top notch.

I've been to Basil more than once and each time I've been quite happy with my choice. The place is nice, the service is clever and kind, the food offering is wide and of a very good quality. If you like fusion food, this is the right place to go! You'll not regret it.

The basil roll was terrible. Rice paper was dry from probably being made and sat and it was basically a salad in rice paper. Very bland and dry. Korean BBQ steak was chewy and terrible. Brown rice was stale and dry. Very disappointing when you pay decent $$ for bad food and waitress who could care less.

Worst asian restaurant we've been in..

First time here as it was nearby a baseball field.
My son ordered a dish that was $21. I asked if it was a good size portion and the server said yes. But it turned out to be a small portion and my son was still hungry. I requested no msg on my dish, but they said it wasn't possible because their sauce is premade and it contains msg. I ended up just ordering the crab ragoon and dumplings. We spent over $50 here and we weren't full.
Won't be back to try it again. Nothing interests me.

Treated my mom and godmother to a birthday lunch. Was prepping for my mom's party so sent them to lunch on me (mainly to get my mom out of the house). Basil was so great to work with and my mom and aunt raved about the food, service, and being treated like queens when they were there. Thank you so much to the Basil staff for giving them some great time together along with great food! They really were saying everything was just excellent!

Looking for a lunch place after visiting the near-by McKinley Monument, we found this on Google Maps and it looked intriguing. Good move to come here! Even though it was a Wednesday midday, there was ample street parking available and plenty of available seating. I was with a group of vegetarians so we all went for vegetarian entrees. They offer you a selection of proteins so this was not a problem for the restaurant, but if you prefer meat, they can do that too.

Many of the dishes on the menu were ones we had not seen anywhere else. We ordered a couple of those (Thai Spaghetti? Walnut Sauce?)

Every dish that we ordered was absolutely beautiful to behold (check out the photos) and tasted just as good as it looked. We shared all of them amongst the four of us and wished we had bigger stomachs or appetites so that we could have tried more things!

Service was also first rate with a server who was very patient and explained everything to us as well as checked back frequently to make sure we got everything we wanted / needed. Prices are very reasonable.

We also noted the bar and the nice selection of wines they had. Some of which are quite exciting and priced extremely reasonably. If we had come for dinner, I am sure that one of those bottles would have made its way to our table.

Should our future travels bring us back to Canton, this will definitely be on the list of places to visit again!

I didn't know what to expect when we picked this place but I was hopeful for some good Pad See Ew and they did not disappoint. We got the skewered beef as an app and other guests were stopping and asking what we ordered, all of it was wonderful. The service was collaborative and attentive to our needs but left us alone otherwise.

NOTE: They have some unique chairs that I liked with my bad back, but other guests may not like. They do have other seats these are only the high top table seats, I believe.

Really good food and the employees are awesome! Someone was always checking in our table (about 12 guys) and our waitress was on point! I got the General Tso chicken with fried rice and it was some of the best Asian style food I've had in a while. They have a full bar if that's what you're into. One of the guys at my table ordered sushi and he said it was good. Everything that came out looked amazing and for the price was a good amount of food. I highly recommend, im planning on going back soon.

. Wife’s chicken lo mein was good. Chicken fried rice was cold in the center and overcooked. Vietnamese pho was ok, at best. About four pieces of beef in the entire bowl and I swear the meatballs were tofu based on the rubber-like chewy texture. The man clearing the tables/refilling water glasses was on top of it! Unfortunately the waitress we had was more inclined to tell us to hold on in order to run and take care of the two larger parties that were present. She asked how the food was, I explained and told me hold on and she immediately took off. About 5 minutes later she came back with our check which had been discounted, even though this wasn’t the point of explaining how the food was. Honestly… First time here & probably won’t be back soon.

This is an amazing little Bistro with outstanding food, awesome service and a great atmosphere. When in Canton this will certainly be one of my go to restaurants and I can't wait until my next visit.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants. Amazing food, I do not even like seafood, but I love their sushi. The potstickers are very unique and different from everywhere else in a good way and you can never go wrong with any other entrees.

Great avocado curry.

Food was good. Could of been a little spicier but was still tasty. Garlic fish was excellent crab Rangoon I thought was just ok. Lemon grass soup was good. Spicy peanut cury was flavorful but not apicy.

The food at Basil never disappoints. Everything is so fresh and they will adjust spice level to your taste. So many delicious options. I could eat there multiple times a week!

This was our first time to basil so we ventured around the menu. Our server Brendan was fantastic great energy and friendly and also top notch recommendations on the food. I got the pad Thai but choose the thicker noodles it was great nice fresh and flavorful. My wife got the spicy wontons and a wonton soup. The soup was so flavorful and fresh I’d come here alone for it. The spicy wontons sauce it comes in is deep in flavor and is good to put on anything. We then ventured into some of the best sushi if not the best Iv ever had. We got the shaggy dog and the crunch roll both are amazing the eal sauce goes great on everything. For dessert we finished with the fried bananas and coconut icecream. Let me tell you that was some of the creamiest light ice creams Iv had it was so good and the bananas had just the right amount of crisp. Great experience found a new date night place. Highly recommend coming to check this place out and sample some of everything. We spent alittle more per person just cause we wanted to sample alot but most options are around $10 very affordable for those on a budget also.

In my opinion, this is just a glorified Chinese restaurant. Higher prices than your local Chinese take-out, but essentially the same food. What this does have is a plethora of fancy drinks, albeit expensive fancy drinks.

Kind of dirty too. They did not sweep under the tables before we sat down. I don't know for sure, but under the table, it was so dirty that they may not have swept the night before.

This tofu is awesome. It's like between a tofu and chicken texture. Deep fried I think is how the waitress said it was. Excellent!

Everything we ate here was delicious. I got the spicy peanut curry and it was perfection. The only negative for me is the fact that it is sooo loud inside. It was difficult to have a conversation.

We made a reservation around 5:15 PM for 6:45 PM arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 PM, waited 10 minutes before a hostess greeted us and then were told that even though we had a reservation that they would not be able to accommodate us. I asked why they accepted our reservation OR why they didn't call to let us know the situation. The response I got was "Yeah, I don't know but we camt get you in tonight" We then left.

My first experience at Basil and I was overall impressed. It took a minute to be seated, but our server and the food made up for it! The Crunch Roll is the best thing on the planet, and the pile of Pineapple Fried Rice I got on my plate fed me for an additional two meals!

We went on a Friday night and it was very busy. Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Our waitress was very kind and quick. I ordered the Pad See Ew which was a large portion and delicious!

Food was an absolute disappointment. This place to be so good. I ordered it for take out. I called the restaurant after I got home and notice my order was all wrong the girl that answered the phone told me there wasn’t anything they could do. I ordered the volcano roll, it looked like a plain California roll,

Basil can be a great place to eat. There is a pretty large menu that includes a huge sushi selection. The rooms (building) can be very loud depending on how full it is.

Reservations are recommended.

There is a large bar and TVs on the main side.

The kitchen is honestly not very flexible at all with menu changes, so it is probably best to stick with ordering "by the number" for best results. Table service is hit-or-miss ranging from great, to "What is going on?.

The busiest times coincide with events at the next-door Palace Theatre.

I honestly want to come back to have ever item on the menu. It's hard to find babysitters, can someone watch my kids every week so I can take my wife to Basil?

Our server Melissa was so kind and sweet! Excellent service and the food was really good. We did have to wait A bit longer than expected on our appetizers. Kitchen seemed to be struggling a little bit, but understandably so with how busy they were for a Thursday night. Thankfully our server made up for it in her excellent service. Will definitely be going back.

I have been going to Basil since they have opened. Basil is easily one of my favorite places to grab a dish.

Love Basils! It is our go to date night spot when we have a babysitter! My favorite is the tuna tataki! The Bodhi Bubbles is a fantastic prosecco and it's for a great cause! We had reservations, but arrived early and sat at the bar for an appetizer and drinks. The bartender was so good we just stayed there instead!

Was there for my daughter's birthday. They were very busy that night, but our service and food were still great.

I have been to Basil twice this week and both times everything was wonderful. This evening we celebrated my nephews 18th birthday and the waitress did wonderful handling the cake we brought as well as taking care of our party. Thank you so much! Can’t wait to come back.

Food and service were fantastic. If I had to find something wrong I would say it's not the place for an intimate quiet dinner. It's a hip and happening place so it's a little to noisy for that quiet dinner for 2

When purchasing a gift card, beware. Attempted to use a basil gift card and it was declined because the owner said they no longer took them as they switched vendors….a $50 dollar gift card was Purchased from Basil directly.
When we questioned it, we were told that the manager Is aware of this, and because they have switched vendors there is nothing that can be done. Absolutely 100% unacceptable and we’re told this has happened to other people, and to accept their apology.
We paid our bill in full, and will never go back…. horrible and shady business practices. So during this holiday season buyer beware if you’re purchasing a gift card at this establishment, it may or may not be any good.

Fantastic food and service. Literally the best Crab Ragoons on the planet! It gets a little loud in the dining room, so I wish they took advantage of their street seating, but still absolutely excellent. I do feel that over the years, the atmosphere has gone down just a bit only because they are so busy. When there are dozens of people waiting and they're nearly sitting in the laps of the patrons who are eating, its a little much. We had reservations for my sisters birthday for several weeks and when we got there, they gave us a table right by the door, so it was freezing cold and the people waiting were literally leaning back against my father's chair

Saturday night, what a mistake! So crowded, we did have reservations but still waited 20 mins. So loud in the dining room, had to talk so loud to hear our party talk, If you order anything with brown sauce be prepared to eat soy sauce, our meals were so salty! I doubt if we ever will go back!

In-person service is great, but I have yet to have the same experience with take out. I’ve ordered take-out 10+ times and have never received my food as ordered or within the time given for pick-up. Today I ordered 2 beef pho and a bowl of Tom Yum. I got the 2 pho and one container of Tom Yum & another container of Tom Yum Gha. Thankfully I love all of their soup, so I just kept it.

Large portions, Friendly and helpful staff. I had the Hibachi fried rice, it could have used a little more flavor (sesame oil and side of yum yum sauce) I enjoyed the atmosphere and music selection.

Our waitress was excellent. The food was great.

Get a window seat and people watch while enjoying some very good food. Service was quick as well.
