Broad menu of Thai curries, noodles & more, plus sushi & sashimi, in refined modern surroundings.
Great Thai food in a nice and pleasant atmosphere. The added benefit of being able to order the absolute best white meat fried chicken nuggets with my red curry is phenomenal. The Crab Rangoon tastes wonderful too. The tea is freshly brewed, and not that nasty canned stuff, which is another reason to go.
We love Thai food and we were disappointed when our normal Thai restaurant was closed on Sunday afternoon. We decided to try The Basil Leaf and see how things compared. The service at this restaurant was great. Everyone was kind, helpful and gracious. It was wonderful service. The appearance of the food was also really pretty. Sadly the quality of the food was disappointing. The very first thing I noticed was that they used frozen mixed vegetables in addition to fresh peppers in their panang curry. The Thai restaurant that we love uses all fresh vegetables... and the fresh crisp versus the soft mush makes a huge difference. Overall the flavors were just not as rich as we're used to either. The coconut milk tasted watered down in the dishes and really made the dishes somewhat dull. While I rate the service as 5 stars, I just cannot get past the disappointment with the quality of the food. Maybe we hit this place on a bad day, but I don't think we'll be trying it again.
I love the outdoor eating that's possible here. It's shady and quiet. The food is also quite good. But I would say that two out of five for spicy is not very spicy at all so for folks who like spice I would go for at least three. Also the vegetables are only mildly cooked so if you like more well cooked vegetables than I would tell them that you want your vegetables cooked a little bit more
Best Thai food I’ve had and the best service. We found this place on a casual Saturday afternoon and we had no idea the gem we had walked into. It is so beautifully decorated and clean. It feels so chic and upscale. The staff is so quick to serve, clean the table, and fulfill every request. The pork gyoza and seaweed salad were phenomenal!! The drunken noodles and green curry were so delicious. We’re from California and we’ve had our share of good Thai food, but this was off the charts!!! A must try in this area. We asked for bags of ice to keep our food cold in the car and they provided us with grocery store bags full of ice at the quickest pace. Im telling you, this place is the best service and best food I’ve had. 10/10. I would eat here every day
Amazing every time! Went for lunch during a holiday shopping marathon.
The food is hot, flavorful, fresh and delicious. The service is always attentive and fast even when busy. Even the bathrooms are nice.
The Thai iced tea and chicken satay are reason enough to come here.
I had the new weekend lunch special Pad Khing(Ginger) with chicken which was awesome. Hubby had the Basil Fried Rice with beef. 🫶
I must say my experience at this location was amazing. The sauces that they had for my drunken noodles we're so good. I must say I will be coming back to get some more because we had a blast and I hope that anyone who reads this tries the basil leaf out and does not think twice about going because it will be well worth it.
Very nice atmosphere and food tasted fresh, very high quality. The servers were fast and friendly. Sushi was the best I've had!

Pad that was one of the best I've ever eaten. So good. And the umagi roll was very good as well. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was great, not too loud.
Nice place! Need more staff during busiest times but food and service were great!
Good food. Will definitely go again.
The best Sushi made in the traditional Japanese style.. This was my family's second and we enjoyed the meat and atmosphere..
Beautiful place/atmosphere and the food was decent. However, service was terrible. I was not checked on and other tables were serviced near me and it didn’t make me feel like a valued customer. Waitress passed me multiple times servicing others and did not check on me. I had to raise my hand to get service. I hope the waitresses are able to do better moving forward.
The drunken noodles just tasted like straight up fish sauce and nothing else. We had a big party, so we got all the different types of cocktails, and every single one was way too sweet. None of the main dishes tastes like what they claim to be.
The food was really good. Awesome fried spring rolls. Good hot and sour soup. I would give it 5 stars but there was a hair in my soup. The server was very nice and brought me another one, but I had paid for the one with shrimp and when they brought the second one out, it had no shrimp. Watch out for the spice, we ordered our dishes hot and they felt more like thai hot. As a Mexican who eats alot of hot stuff, I recommend getting mild if you are not accustomed to eating spicy. I would try this place again if I'm ever in the area.

Fresh, fast service, delicious food ,I would recommend this place highly.
I really enjoy this place. I visit it regularly. Their food is delicious and they have a nice selection of beer. Their wait staff is friendly and attentive.
The food is always excellent.
One of my favorite restaurants in Winston-Salem. I've eaten most menu items and especially like the curry noodles.
Best Thai in the Triad area of NC. I eat here fairly regularly, and it's always been spectacular!
I have enjoyed this establishment for years! I do not know why I haven’t posted a review. Their service has NEVER let us down, the food is remarkably fresh.
This is REAL Thai food. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. They also have an extensive sushi menu... now we just need one in Greensboro.
Not much food for the price. The food and service were fine.
Best damn cashew chicken I’ve ever had. Can’t get enough of it! Everything here is fantastic!
This place was much nicer that I expected!
I had heard from several people that if you like Thai food you should check this place out. VERY glad I did! The food was so fresh tasting and the lunch portion was great! It's slightly pricey but for the atmosphere it's not over priced. You certainly can pay more for expensive duck dishes but if you want typical Pad Thai style dishes it's reasonable especially for the freshness of the food. You can tell it's not frozen bags of food they're bringing out. The white rice was cooked perfectly and while that may seem like something no one can mess up you'd be surprised at how many places have under or overcooked rice. I've even had rice that I could tell was a day or more old. This was vibrant and fresh. I'm picky when I'm paying that much for food.
The service was great! We didn't need much but I completely felt taken care of.
Everyone was friendly from the moment we walked in till we walked out.
The curry and sushi are both amazing!
The food is always pretty decent but tonight it was really good. The panang curry was thicker than usual and the veggies were perfect.
Smallish, friendly place with wonderful food, great service. Great atmosphere, too!
Nice little place for a lunch. Food presentation was very pleasant to the eye and the quality was great.

Great menu! Fast carry-out too! Service inside or on the patio is always a great option.
Always great food and service. One of our favorites!
Great food and awesome Service!!
The food here is fantastic. I would give it a 6 if that was an option. The meal came with a little soup and a spring roll. Servers were prompt, polite, and attentive. The atmosphere is really nice. My only ding on the place is noise. There is a loud hum. I don't like places where it's too noisy.
Excellent drunken noodles!
The food was fine. The issue was getting the food. Used online ordering and arrived at the restaurant about 40 minutes after placing order when it showed ready. I proceeded to wait another 55 minutes before my food was ready and that wasn't the longest time of the people there. Multiple people waiting had been waiting over 90 minutes when I arrived and several arrived shortly after me and were still there when I left. When asking for updates staff members would walk to the back and avoid coming back towards the front. Not sure what happened but if you want to order takeout from here, get a table and order your food to go. The multiple individuals that arrived around the same time I did got a table and were able to finish their food and leave before I got my takeout order.
My husband and I ate here previously (dine in) and enjoyed our meal. We decided to get carry out tonight as we're on town, staying over the night. We placed our order online around 5:45pm. Pick up time went from 6:12 to 6:35pm. My husband went to pick up the food accordingly-where he waited an hour and a half for our carry out order. There were five other customers there waiting 60+ minutes for their carry out orders. Two parties of two came in around the time my husband arrived, ordered, ate and left before he got our order. They were definitely busy for the weekend evening, turning tables away due to capacity. Wish online ordering had also been turned off respectively. A "sorry" was admonished as the order was finally handed to my husband after waiting 90 minutes. The food was piping hot (as it well should've been) and overall tasteful.
Unfortunately there was no easy cancelling to get refund on order as their online order system goes through Door Dash.
Good Thai food
This is the only place we feel comfortable taking our older parents. They will delete items off a dish if needed. They will customize your order to your spice level. The food has always been tasty. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is good. You can hear the person at the other end of the table easily. Great place for sushi. Everything was great.

Delicious and wonderful service . I recommend it!!!
The good here is incredibly tasty. Try the yellow curry chicken. M,mmmm
The food is always great! The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is so accommodating.
Lovely place. Good food!
So. Good. I ordered the drunken noodles. It was spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. My kids are sensitive to spice and they loved it.
The service was quick and friendly
Delicious food. Ordered spring rolls, crab rangoon, yellow tofu curry. Service was prompt. Food was prompt. All dishes were cooked well and tasty. I highly recommend.
I got the hot and sour soup and it was awful! The soup did not have the sour or spice hence the name of the soup. It was just super sweet and had a ton of cabbage. You’re better off getting better and “authentic” Asian food from the fast food Chinese restaurants. Even the hot and sour soup at the Chinese restaurants are more authentic. Honestly, not sure how you can mess up soup?! Therefore, I won’t be returning.
I must say my experience at this location was amazing. The sauces that they had for my drunken noodles we're so good. I must say I will be coming back to get some more because we had a blast and I hope that anyone who reads this tries the basil leaf out and does not think twice about going because it will be well worth it.
Great Thai food artistically presented by friendly servers who enjoy their jobs
Sushi- AMAZING
Pai Thai- AMAZING
Edamame- AMAZING
Spring Rolls- Great
Jasmine Tea- Great
Customer service- Great
Great food and service.
Just fantastic. A "casual upscale" atmosphere, with amazing service, amazing food, and a great drink menu. All at a reasonable price. Highly recommend!
We had to wait almost 30 minutes for our food and our waitress was not friendly. I had Diet Pepsi that was flat. She even cleaned the table next to us spraying to our table without consideration. Food was good but more sauce than normal. Overall we wouldn’t come back for another trip.
The food was amazing. I ordered the drunken noodles and boy were they something special. I love spicy food so I went with a 4 star and MAN, WHOO SPICY... it was very good..
Got green curry, pad Thai, and Tom yum. The people there were lovely though the food was just alright. Maybe I was expecting more by the reviews but the Tom yum reminded me of a water down tomato juice soup. I wasn't getting the spice, the lemon grass, or really any other flavor than tomato. Maybe it was an off day for them.
Basil Leaf used to be my go-to restaurant for curry. Curry was always jam-packed with ingredients (tofu and veggies for me). However, the last two visits, I have noticed that is more broth than ingredients, and the ingredient sizes are smaller than they used to be. Don't know if managment changed and/or chef changed. Also, today for the first time, my order was incorrect. I had ordered tofu curry, but was served chicken curry. As a vegan, not an option for me. Probably will give it another try.
Drove 2 ¹/² Hrs To buy a car in the area and stopped here for Dinner. By Far one of the best Thia places I have been to and I've been to many. Main points: 1)Food was amazing tasting and amazing looking.
2) Atmosphere was super chill and relaxing. 3) Service was amazing and I mean Amazing. 4) Price is comparable to other restaurants of this type, not cheap but not expensive. I AM thankful me and my family stopped in and I would recommend to every one that likes Thia food to come here.
Food is great ,getting a little on the expensive , makes a bit on the high side for lunch.
We came here as a group of 3 on a Saturday around 6:30pm. It was pretty busy inside, but we only had to wait less than 15 minutes for a table. The waiter was quick with bringing our drink orders and our food did not take long. We had ordered appetizers and a main meal. Overall we were happy with the quality and the taste of everything. We have been here multiple times before and have had a positive experience a majority of the time. We left around 7:40pm.
The service is always great and the food is amazing.
One of our favorite places to est. Staff is pleasant and the food is always hot, fresh, and good! My favoritea are the Drunken Noodles w Chicken and the spring rolls!! Try it out!!
I stop here for lunch on the way to mountains. Great for 5 years.
Food keeps getting better. Have been going here since 2017. Usual order is veggie basil Thai fried rice.
My wife and I have eaten here 2 times and both times it was wonderful food and hostess and owner where great, so much so they even played peek-a-boo with my daughter and brought like things to try to keep her as happy as can be. (She is 19 months) also there is a lovely outside area when it's good weather. We love there drunken noodle and pad woonsen as well as the Thai boat.
been a while since I went but was very good
Great food, and the service was so kind and happy to work there.
Authentic Thai dishes, real Thai chefs. ThaiGreen Curry was fantastic!
It was our first time eating here. We ordered crab Rangoon, pineapple fried rice and Pak theim something dont remember the name but it is essentially a stir fried a mixed of veggies with a garlic and a side or rice. The pineapple fried rice was not that great. They put raisins on it and it overpowered the flavor, the rice was also too sticky so it wasn’t or it didn’t taste like fried rice. The crab Rangoon was actually pretty good, fresh and the sauce was sweet and on point. The stir fried was also really good a little spicy but not overwhelming so I totally recommend it. Overall very nice service and a pretty restaurant. We just didn’t love the pineapple fried rice.
I have ordered take out a few times and it has consistently gone down hill. The thai chili sauce has been obviously watered down and the quality of their food isn't what it used to be. The service is great and so is the restaurant but the quality is gone. They are cutting corners and it shows.
Food was fine but service was very slow and lacking
Ok, seriously. We were really impressed with this place. My husband is a sushi addict and VERY picky about the quality. Thai is my favorite cuisine so I also tend to be pickier about the quality. Thai Basil does not disappoint. We sat in their little outdoor area which was nice and shaded. Everything here was amazing. We ordered the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce and they were so good and really well portioned. They gave us a complimentary hot and sour soup with a spring roll with sweet chili sauce as part of their lunch special, which was sooo nice because we had sat down right after lunch had technically ended. We got a bottle of sparkling peach sake- who knew such a thing existed?! I ordered the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodle) which was amazing, and my husband got Pad Prik Pow (Chili Paste) and the Winston roll and was extremely happy with both (he said that roll was the most filling he may have ever had, in the best way!). Our waitress was very kind and helpful as well. 5 stars.
Very good sushi and pad thai.
Great food
First time we came here we loved it, after the food seemed to never be the same. The last time the dish we always get was not right. They offered to make again so we had them do it. It came out the same. Not sure if it was the chef or what. Not sure we will be back but if you aren’t having the highest of expectations it’s decent Thai food in a pinch. Inside is fairly small and not the best lay out and it’s usually cold. Not warm and inviting. Can be hard to communicate sometimes also. Everyone is nice and the food is decent so I’ll leave four stars. The other issues are the reason for the loss of one. Still a good spot and especially for most others.
Food is excellent and service is great! Atmosphere is nice.
Thank you for deciding to close early! Another business to mark off my list to support
Great food.
I will have to say a combination of many things make this my favorite restaurant. First, and the most important to me, the ladies who wait on you are so sweet and excellent at serving with efficiency and grace. Second, the food is always fresh and pleasing to all senses. Third, the price is comparable to the quantity and quality of food you receive. My son and I always visit for lunch, which cuts off around 2 or 2:30 p.m. It is our special place!
Great dishes. Always busy
Great place for date night!
Better together sushi roll was fantastic
This place was amazing! 2 thumbs way up!! Highly recommend
Really good Thai food. We get the curry or pad see ew. They have drinks/sake/wine as well. The servers are always friendly and helpful. Their desserts are so good. Get the mango and sticky rice or the hot custards. Nice patio outside as well in good weather!
The only place we love anymore when it comes to 🍣 Sushi. Delicious!!
You you want great pad thai and great friendly service this is the place to go!
Thank you for both!!
Great, fresh Thai food. A jewel in Winston Salem!
Great food, great service! Also does a great job at making gluten-free food that is celiac-friendly!!
Delicious & gluten-free fare. I shared the Chicken Pad Thai and vegetarian spring rolls with my husband on our latest date night, but the drunken noodles and curry are amazing too.
10/10 would recommend.
Quiet and tasty!!
Fried house rice and seafood combo were amazing. I liked it. Service is also perfect. I recommend this place.
My soup was good! They served so much that I took some home. Everything was fresh. Will be back 😊
One of my favorites in Winston Salem
Great place to eat. Wonderful service and food
Haven't been here in a while. I had given it 5 stars before but brought it down to a 3. My glass of water had lipstick stain. Then I checked sanitation and the most recent one is 91.5 but there was a shadow over the number which made it hard to see. I think this is manipulative. Food was still good, but I couldn't shake that my food was 100% sanitary.
Great Pho! Very authentic!
Went there for dinner! The place was nice, clean and organized! The service was good, the server was very attentive. They have good soup I tried the Tom Kar which had chicken, mushrooms, and creamy coconut taste! The food was good in general. I ordered the Phad Woonsen which was ok but was a bit missing some Thi flavors. It also had the small noodles and eggs which I was not a big fan. The other plat was
Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) which had a lot of flavor and is my recommendation choice now! I would also recommend to ask for some peanut and added to the plat and mix it! It gives an extra flavor! The price was decent compare to the portion and quality. Over all very good will come back again and keep updating in future!
The protein was very plain and not seasoned well. The rice and vegetables was very good but the protein brought nothing to the plate. Same goes for the sushi as it was also very bland. They put plenty of sauce on it and that saved the sushi roll. The wasabi was uneatable as it was hard and crusty. Service was great! Absolutely nothing to complain there.
Really enjoyed this restaurant. Lots of parking, but make sure to get reservations if you're going on a weekend. We went early and by the time we left there was a long line at the door. The owner, Im assuming, really took care of us. She would check on us in between of our server and was very welcoming. The food was great. It's expensive, but you're getting a lot. The curry portion is huge, as are the fried rice and noodle dish portions. I got a Boston Roll and a Rainbow Roll and really enjoyed them both. The fish was amazing and I highly recommend trying some of the sushi/sashimi while you're here. I would stay clear of the $6.00 sushi and spring for the rolls or plates instead. The sushi/sashimi combo was a really large portion and could easily be shared. All in all, great experience. I would absolutely go again.
Last night was the 3rd time I have eaten here. New to the area and I have to say the food is consistently great, very clean, and the entire staff is extremely friendly! My go to for Thai!
Excellent Thai and sushi. I’ve been eating here for years and it’s excellent every time.
This place is impressively good and delicious! The sushi was some of the best I’ve ever had and everything from the crab rangoons to the coconut custard to the little bit of my friend’s pad thai that I tried was DELICIOUS! Yes, sushi can get a bit pricey but I felt like theirs was very reasonable for the quality and large portions you get. We will definitely be coming back, everything was perfect!
Not only great food but superior service. By mistake my wife left her purse there after dinner last night. Our doorbell rang around 10pm last night, a nice young lady brought it by. SO REFRESHING to find such care, especially under current stressful times!
THANK YOU
Best spring rolls and hot & sour soup out there. Drunken Noodles are amazing. Staff are always very attentive
Wonderful authentic cuisine. Food was received very quickly after ordering. Pleasant staff all around.
The chicken in the panang curry was dry and salted, but not particularly well seasoned to match the curry sauce. They just threw some chicken into an okay curry sauce. My favorite dish was the edamame.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Melody was a great server! The food was hot and delicious, as always.
Really, such a good place to eat. I would rate it as perhaps the best Thai cuisine in the area. The atmosphere is semi-formal, quiet, and peaceful. The food is excellent; you request it spicy if you want it, and I've heard it said they will actually give it to you face-melting hot if you request it. Or, don't order spicy and the flavors just sing in your mouth.
Authentic dishes, and a nice place. Absolutely delicious food here. The staff is very kind and attentive.
Amazing vegan options, lol someone order the (vegan pho ) 35. Thai boat noodle soup (with tofu) three times lol, their soup is made out fresh real vegetables and no msg , the soup is so amazing I can’t believe I finish whole three bowl of soups lol thank you :) ขอบคุณ
Food was absolutely delicious!
Thank you to all the nice people there. You made my day brighter! The pad Thai was so yummy perfect. And I enjoyed the spring roll crispy and flaky with sweet bright orange sauce.
WOW! Everything about this place was AMAZING!
The service was just right: polite, helpful, quick, kept us full of water without being overly attentive.
Before our meal came out, all three of us got a small bowl of hot and sour soup as well as a spring roll. Our picky 12 year old loved BOTH, and he usually doesn't like spring rolls at all. The soup was so flavorful.
My wife and son shared the crab rolls, and both went on and on about how good it was.
I had the lunch-sized portion of the red curry with tofu, which was the perfect size for one meal and delicious.
My wife had the phad see ew, and our son had the drunken noodles with chicken. They weren't complaining, but they both were able to get two full meals out of the large, delicious servings. Our son said the drunken noodles were different than what he has had before, but once he got past the difference, he thought they were just as (if not more) delicious as any he has ever had.
If you like Thai food, you'll love The Basil Leaf!
The food was actually pretty good. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because I had asked for my food to be only two stars It was so hot I couldn't eat it. Also I like my pad Thai noodles a little larger and al dente. These were kind of soft and skinny like angel hair pasta.
Excellent sushi
Great Lunch entrees
Great food, will be back again
Really nice experience
This place is amazing. We ordered Chef's special and the salmon was raw but the outside was cooked. Didn't know that but the lady was nice enough to explain what happened and why the fish was raw and the outside was cooked. The service was really great. The atmosphere was fantastic and food was a little sweet. But loved it overall. Please go and enjoy yourself.
I've never had a sushi restaurant serve tuna scrape before, and it was horrible. If you don't know what tuna scrap is, it's scrap fish meat that is ground up. Aside from being disgusting, it's potentially hazardous and has been know to cause food poisoning. I had the chicken satay as an appetizer and it was nice, so I'm guessing the Thai cooking may be the thing to order at this restaurant. I will never return to find out.
The best yellow curry I can find in Winston Salem. Everything we got was good.
You can eat outside. That’s nice. The food was not my taste.
