Ammata Thai Kitchen in Rivervale offers deliciousThai cuisine that’s a treat for the taste buds. The flavors are rich and the dishes are beautifully prepared . Favorites like the Drunken noodles and Green Curry are standout options.
However, the service could use some improvement. While the staff is polite, the wait times can be longer than expected, and there’s room for better coordination during busy hours. Despite this, the excellent quality of the food makes it worth the visit
The interior has a modern wooden tone and lighting, giving it a comfortable space. Among the Thai restaurants I've been to recently, the interior was the best.
The food was disappointing because the Pad Thai noodles were not fully cooked, so the aftertaste was bitter. The Tom Yang soup that came as a side was very salty, so it was hard to taste the broth. The som tom thai that came out like a papaya salad didn't have a deep seasoning flavor, but it wasn't bad enough to taste the ingredients.
Mobile internet connection wasn't good, so I asked the waitress if they provide wifi service to customers, but she said no. There are outdoor tables in front of the restaurant, so I asked if I could bring my dog to eat at the outdoor tables, but the answer I got was that they couldn't due to other customers' allergies. I have many regrets about recommending this place.
The service seems inconsistent with other reviews but my experience with my server was excellent. She was attentive and checked on us regularly so it might be different when is busy. When i arrived the restaurant wasn't packed. The food came out perfect and with in a good time frame. The papaya salad was amazing 😍 and the bentel leaves were unique and both dishes had a sweet and tart taste to them. I highly recommend if you haven't tasted it. I ordered the duck curry 🍛 🦆 which wasn't spicy 🔥 and it was more in the sweet side because of the pineapple. The duck was the softest i ever had and it was worth the price. I ordered the crab fried rice 🦀 which was tasty and flavors delicious. It had the seafood flavor it should have. Good Thai food is hard to coke by but this restaurant hits all the notes. If you are looking for authentic and savory and sweet this is the place.
I came for my birthday and had a wonderful time. The food was amazing and the menu diversity was nice. I got to try something I hadn’t before and it was a pleasant surprise. The staff was attentive and very sweet. The ambiance was cozy. will definitely be back.
We had our dinner yesterday from this place.. delicious Thai foods. Place is super clean hospitality is nice. Me and my friends ordered so much foods, pineapple fried rice, crab fried rice, pad Thai noodle, chicken sathe, ho batter calamari, spring rolls, Thai chicken curry, thank you guys food was amazing, we really enjoyed it. Wish you all the best. Thank you let us in last moment. Keep it up the good work
We had high hopes for this place but we left a bit disappointed. We ordered the crispy betel leaves, lon of seafood, tom yum shrimp, khao pad (fried rice) with shrimp, pad thai with pork belly, palm sugar ice cream, and thai tea ice cream. The lon of seafood was amazing. Tom yum shrimp was decent, you can’t really go wrong with tom yum soup. The crispy betel leaves that had really good reviews were a major let down, it was way way wayyy too sweet. Both entrees were disappointing. The khao pad was tasteless and the shrimps were overcooked so it was very soft. It was not worth $19. The pad thai was small and also tasted very meh. It was just sweet, and lacked the flavors of a good pad thai. Also the noodles were overcooked and mushy. As someone who’s had a lot of Thai food in the US and also been to Thailand a dozen times, I couldn’t figure out what kind of Thai food this was. Both desserts were very good though. Not sure we would be back. Service was great. Food took a while to come but it was a Friday evening and the place was packed.
I can't tell the server is friendly
Amazing restaurant!! One of the best in the area

My goodness, what a surprise! Amazing food, excellent service and friendly owner. Will be back again!
When we came in, the owner noticed us a maximum of 2 hours dining for the table. It sounds like we need to eat as fast as possible and talk as fast as possible.
We just found out that this restaurant is affiliated to our favorite restaurant GAO Thai in Ramsey and we couldn’t be more thrilled since it saves us the 25 min drive to get there. The food here is amazing!!! Our favorite go to dishes are vegetable massaman curry and the shrimp khao soi. 10/10!!!
We’ve yet to dine in but it’s always packed and looks modern and beautiful on the inside.

Still is our family's go to Thai.
Never disappoints.
Reasonable prices, food always fresh and friendly warm staff.
It was perfect.. Kind and delicious food.
This has been one of our favorite places in the last 4 years and it is stiil is!!

Always delicious! The pineapple fried rice is to die for and the basil and pork belly rice is amazing!
Phenomenal food every time!
Basil fried rice with chicken was really good!
The food is wonderful. We recommend this place to our local friends and visiting friends. Everything we tried so far is really really good but we particularly like the Massaman, Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Thai and Lychee Tea.
I'm giving service a 4 but probably should have gotten a 3.5
Felt a little rush at times, but not really.
Place was so pretty and food was delicious too!
The food was delicious and priced well. I will be back.
We love this restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for any occasion. The staff is friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. I highly recommend this place for a great meal!
I really enjoyed my first experience at Thai food
This place is amazing. This was my second time here and i brought my parents here for Mother’s Day. They enjoyed all the dishes we ordered and the service that they showed was great. Our server was very attentive and the food came out in a timely manner. I would go back here again and try the other foods in the menu. I highly recommend this place if you like good Thai food.
Excellent food and service! One of our new favorite spots.
Great Thai food with diversified menu with authentic spices and decent serving sizes. Best Thai in Northern Bergen County for sure. Staff very professional and friendly. Will return for sure and consider take out.
Food was so,so!
Love this place. Good food, good prices, good service, BYOB
It’s a very nice restaurant with well presented dishes. I guess the pad Thai for me just missed the mark a bit. The food was very fresh, but my dish was a little bit too tangy for my liking. The spring rolls were great however. The service was also quick, and the staff was very friendly
A local gem I will be returning to. Exceptional across the board. Warm and welcoming staff, beautiful decor and authentically delicious cuisine. We were a party of three. My friend is a world traveler and foodie and he was thoroughly impressed. We had appetizers...Lets start with those Crispy Betel Leaves,(a must try) Mussels and Issan Rice Balls. Each had its own flavorful twist. Dinner well there were a few Chef Specials that were sold out (I understand why). So we opted for Chicken Pan See Ew, Sweet Pepper Fillet Tenderloin and our table favorite Pad Ped Chicken. Recommend reservations. Seating is limited to 90 minutes so staff can be a bit off putting. It was a Saturday night and at 7 they had a 90 minute wait. Recommend highly!!!
Wonderful Thai place. From the owners of GAO Thai in Ramsey. Slightly different menu so my wife and I switch between both places every now and then. Great food and service. Always have a good time there. It’s BYOB too.
Ordered Ammata for delivery after reading the great reviews. First of all, I rarely leave reviews but this place deserved one. I’ll start with the pad kee mao, had a 90% out of 33 ratings on DoorDash - that’s okay, still high. But let me say, I’ve never eaten pad kee mao that tasted as dry and flavorless in my life. There was simply oil/grease on it, and that was it. If I had to compare it to anything, it would be dog food. Secondly, the green curry with chicken was spiceless. Not only that, but my boyfriend who ordered it is now dealing with an upset stomach (ironic). Again, don’t mean to bash this place but for the reviews I’ve read and the prices they’re charging, at least for delivery, the food was inedible. Had to take the L and order Thai from somewhere else instead.
I was never a big fan of Thai food, until I discovered this gem in Bergen County. Everything about this place is exceptional--from the food to service to the interiors and the ambience. The best thing about it for me (a celiac) though, is that many of the menu items are gluten-free. It's also a BYOB place, which is yet another incentive to visit. All their dishes are very tastefully prepared and beautifully presented. The prices are reasonable too, considering this is Rivervale in Bergen County. I have been eaten dinner there with family many times and simply cannot resist the urge to go back.
Great place and a hidden gem. Second time here and the food and service was great. Parking is easy.
To anyone who loves Thai food and thinks they have tried everything, you should try Ammata.
Crispy Betel leaves shrimp salad was awesome and I have not had them anywhere else. Spicy basil pork belly was amazing.
The most authentic Thai food I have tried in north NJ. You don’t go wrong with any dish your order. One star off for the reason they are always short staffed, the wait time could be long.
Not a traditional Thai food.
I order noodles to go. Very tasty.
Food good. Service good. Vibes good. Will be back. BYOB
The food is great. The service is great!!!
The best Thai place!
The food is ok here but todays customer service was awful. We were the only customers there, literally NO OTHER CUSTOMERS!!
They gave us a small table and I asked them
to change to a bigger table cuz the table always gets really crowded (we order a lot) and the waitress was like oh we gonna be really busy today and I was like ok(?)... it’s only 5:15, I mean I understand it’s Thursday but first of all there was no customers but us and considering it was only a little past 5, like I couldn’t understand why they couldn’t just give us a bigger table??, so instead of getting mad we just walked out, with all the crazy prices and ppl wanting 20% or more in tips, it wasn’t worth it, I’m not gonna spend all that money if I can’t get proper service
Great place. The pork belly salad is incredible worthy of praise, and the crab and shrimp curry is absolutely delicious. Great service. They are so good that they tried to accomodate some lady that asked for ramen (lol). I mean, dont do that, but thats how far they are willing to go to make their customers happy.
Ka comida exquisita, rápido la atención y muy buen atendidos y precios cómodos.
The food is INCREDIBLE. I have been going ever since they opened a few years ago. I love it every time and have have taken a few people there and they fell in love with the food too.
Excellent food and great service. Very affordable and a byob.
Not sure what and how they do it, but the food here is amazing.
Great food. Great service.
Went to this place for dinner on a Saturday night. The place really got a good vibe and ambience. I ordered Thai ice tea and shrimp pad Thai and chef special shrimp with crab meat curry. The food is good, atleast better than average Thai resturent. The service is satisfactory too. However, I would like them to focus more on the food taste. The resturent located in a popular area and got room for parking.
Service is always good, same as food
Great Thai restaurant, good atmosphere, good selection and food quality, great service. Notice it is BYOB.
Always a good meal!
Good place to have dinner with friends
We was there yesterday. I and my wife agreed that something has been changed. Maybe the chefs was off? Or he/she might left. Anyhow, the food was not as good as before.
Great Thai spot! We've been going to their sister restaurant, Gao in Ramsey for years and knew the menu and quality looked familiar.
Wait staff is friendly and quick. Massaman curry is the best. Love their tom yum soup and chicken satays.
Restaurant is very cute and modern and also BYO! Thai isn't as easy to come by around the area and really glad they're here.
Average Food.
Comida original y muy deliciosa , super recomendado
Great Thai restaurant with exceptional food and service. Although it is located in a string of stores, the atmosphere inside is beautiful and welcoming.
My new favorite Thai place. Red curry is awesome !!!!
Very good service but my steak was chewy
Overall a good experience
Love this place. Great food. Last time we were there was Friday around 1:30 pm and the place was still busy, about 80% occupancy. Service was a bit slower than usual. I haven't had everything on the menubut here are the dishes I really recommend: Fried Calamari, Ribs, Spicy Bamboo, Green Curry, Pineapple fried rice.
Delicious and unique Thai food! The lon of crab is great when they have it; The rice crackers that come with it are good, too. The pad see ew with beef is also delicious; However, the best thing here without a doubt is the crispy pork belly. The spicy pork belly and pork belly salad have become new favorites and must haves. Additionally, the staff have always been friendly and accommodating of allergies. Always look forward to our next visit!
Our favorite Thai place!
Always excellent, food and service.
Really amazing great menu and great flavors! I got the chicken pad Thai and the rice ball for a starter. Great food! Great service and atmosphere. Best Thai spot in NJ I've been to.
Great restaurant, fantastic service & delicious food!!!
The food is exceptionally tasty. The pad thai is not just lots of noodles. Dishes fill you with taste and not volume. Spices are fresh and has the southeast Asian taste that I remember. The curry paste stir fry is very tasty. Spicy level 2 out of 5 is enough for me. The palm sugar ice cream dessert is a must try. Can't wait to try the betal leave dish.
Great food and staff.
The food was delicious and deserves five stars but the service deserves three. Our server could have acted less annoyed when we were asking questions about the dishes. The sarcasm was not appreciated. Overall I would recommend with slight reservation.
My takeout order was wrong and because they felt the issue wasn't their fault, they expected us to purchase an entire meal instead of just compensating us for the error. They've lost a customer over $15.
Not kid friendly restaurant :(
Not great place to eat if you have kids. I went to celebrate special occasion with my family. But even though tables were empty, because we had 1 kid and 1 baby with stroller, they did not allow us the tables rather they start to give tables to people with just adults. We waited patiently but they did not let us know when we will get the tables and when we ask if we can sit one of the empty tables they just told us they are all reserved and ask us to keep waiting… waiting 30 minutes.. no updates and we just came out of the place to stop ruining the special occasion. I use to like this place when I did to go but sad experience when trying to dine in…
We accidentally found this place when other dinner plans fell threw. What a DELICIOUS DELIGHT! Ambiance ✅ Food was beautifully presented with authentic Thai flavors. We started with Tom Yum Goong soup which included 3 good sized shrimp and a perfect amount of heat and spice. The spring rolls had a delicate crisp wrapper served fresh and warm. Pad Thai was some of the best I have had outside of Thailand. The steak green curry was also perfection - beef was tender, curry was bursting with flavor, and plenty of vegetables. Finally the artfully presented palm sugar ice cream was creamy, not overly sweet, with a the delicious crunchy sesame cookie on top, mango and lychee. We left full and very satisfied. I can’t wait to go back.
The food was fantastic! Great service also
Best Thai I've had so far
Every dish is wonderful and delicious.
First of all this place is SO CUTE! And it’s byob. But the food is out of this world. We have tried just about everything on the menu and there’s nothing I wouldn’t order again. Our staples are the crab and shrimp curry (unreal) and the Isaan Steak (delicious way to get in protein. Then we add apps, salads, noodle dishes. The crispy betal leaves are amazing. Calamari and satay are among our favorites too. Can’t beat the pad Thai. Literally never had a bad dish so this review is long overdue!
Extensive delays waiting for meal due to large volume of customers. Constantly told it will be ready when it was not.
I have given this place my business many times. Food is not as good as other Thai restaurants in the county.
Thai ice tea was watered down and not sweet. Soup was rubbery. No flavor.
It’s gone downhill. Never again.
I had visited this place some years back when it first opened. I didn't like it then. This is my second time visiting thinking it may have gotten better. Not much better. Sorry.
Ok place

First time we ever came to this restaurant. We were seated quickly and attended to really well - I must have had my water refilled at least 3 times without asking! The appetizers were really good and flavorful! I had the Spring Rolls and Isaan Rice balls my husband ordered and both were really tasty! Our main dishes were the Pad Ped and Basil Fried Rice, both with steak were delicious! Pleasantly surprised at the level of culinary expertise for a BYO Thai restaurant. Will DEFINITELY come back for round two! (And three and four..)
Fantastic!!! This place is very good … it deserves its high rating which is rare … and my family and I are vegan and we had no problems … so many choices and really really tasty!!! I will be back
Food was great and so was the atmosphere. Would come back to this place.

Good food. Good service.
Very good food and nice wait staff.
This place is so good. 10/10. I'm wondering how come they didn't open in NYC!!!! Cause I came all the way from NYC 😂
Every single dish was so flavorful and perfectly cooked.
Crab fried rice 9.5/10 fresh and rice is cooked perfectly with LOTS of fresh crab meat
Spicy pork belly & basil 9/10 sweet perfectly cooked pork belly with the most perfect light crunch
Pad Thai 10/10. They know how to do the pad Thai to perfection.
Mussel appetizer & calamari - THE SAUCE. 10/10 man I could drink those sauces.
Thai iced tea milk/guava - must I need say more?
I'd love to come back and try the whole menu. Every dish was made with care and love. Never change please!!
The atmosphere is great n I couldn’t believe that I could find an authentic Thai restaurant in this NJ suburb. The food n service was great and price was very reasonable, I should say it is very generous compared to what they offer u. I’m just visiting this area but I’m sure I will try to stop by as often as I could while I’m staying!
Favorite Thai restaurant in Bergen County for both Lunch and Dinner. Well designed interior, comfortable seating, and attentive staff.
This place was great! The food was delicious and the staff was kind. They serve you extremely quick and have a variety of options for everyone to enjoy. The area was simple to locate. We will definitely be coming back soon!
Curries were great. Loved the Tom yum soup and massaman. Pork rib appetizer was amazing.
Amazing food, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff
