Excessive artificial colorant in the food. Here is a pic of my green curry with color matching chicken.

Diner Review №2

Not like your typical Thai food restaurant. I order Chicken and shrimp Thai basil fried rice .. the protein was good but the rice was different. It wasn’t what I expected so it kinda threw me off. The chicken wings were good

Diner Review №3

Diner Review №4

The best thai food I have tasted

Diner Review №5

Diner Review №6

I love the Thai food here. My favorite is massaman curry. My only complaint is their portion size. I have been a loyal customer to this restaurant but the shrinkflation is real.

Diner Review №7

This place is not very good. I highly recommend you go somewhere else for Thai food. Some of the worst phad Thai I've had in a while. The sauces for the beef satay and spring rolls were really weird.

Diner Review №8

The vegetables and meats (beef and chicken) were seasoned and cooked very well. The noodles were extremely mushy and oily- I could not palate them. My hope is that they had an off night, but if you order from here I would steer clear from the noodle dishes!

Diner Review №9

I was disappointed with how the food looked before I even took a bite. This is the worst Pad Thai I’ve had in my life. I should have read the reviews. I do not recommend this restaurant. The food is extremely bland. I would never eat here again.

Diner Review №11

I ordered from Wild Ginger for the first time. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. The pineapple fried rice had no taste. I am a pescatarian. So I ordered the crispy fish. Truthfully, it tasted like chicken. I ended up throwing it out. I also noticed that they put raisins in the rice which is strange.

Diner Review №12

Laid back and always good and dependable Thai food.

Diner Review №13

Diner Review №14

Ordered chicken and veggies with Thai sauce. The chicken was super dry, sauce was overwhelmingly sweet. No spice at all.

Diner Review №15

I have not eaten in the restaurant and can’t opine on the atmosphere. The food and service are always excellent.

Diner Review №16

Diner Review №17

This was my first time at Wild Ginger. I won't go back. I ordered the red curry medium spicy. It had ZERO spice. Nothing. This was the most bland Thai food I've ever had. The summer rolls were mostly shredded lettuce with two stands of noodles. Eating my food after reading the glowing reviews was a real disconnect.

Diner Review №18

The Tom Yum Noodle Soup was really delicious.

Diner Review №19

Diner Review №20

I ordered the general's chicken. The chicken was probably old. Was hard and not fresh tasting. I should've known it wasn't gonna that good here, seeing that it was dead on a Sunday.

Diner Review №21

Lovely lovely masamman curry, hard working owner upholding high standards on food and service

Diner Review №22

This restaurant is so good. The kind of place where you can try anything off the menu, and know it’s going to be good. I also had a great dining experience, the service was excellent!!

Diner Review №23

Best thai fried rice ever!!

Diner Review №24

Diner Review №25

Great taste and reasonable price

Diner Review №26

My goodness the service here was incredible from the moment I walked in!! Everyone was so kind and answered any questions I had. The food was wonderful, I recommend the massaman curry if you don’t like spicy food!

Diner Review №27

Everybody’s so friendly and the food is phenomenal. Great spices and everything, honestly no complaints. Generous staff and helpings. If you need Thai, get the Singapore Rice noodles and a Thai Tea 💖

Diner Review №28

Drunken Noodles perfectly seasoned and spicy, Thai Rice FAB & Yum tom soup!!! Service and Food was superb!!!

Diner Review №29

Ordered week night dinner - pineapple fried rice, pad see ew and Tom yum. All the dishes were tasty. I was surprised with the generous quantity of shrimps in the fried rice. The Tom yum was very satisfying. I think this might be the best Thai option in a 5 mile radius. Beats Thai house in Millburn any day.

Diner Review №30

Service is good. Food is ok. Green curry chicken had some funny taste. Mango sticky rice was awful. A number of Thai restaurants take mango sticky rice off the menu, if they don’t get delicious this mango.

Diner Review №31

Really great thai food and consistent service.

Diner Review №32

The food was delicious. There was some missunderstanding with one of our distes because it was supposed to be Spice but turned out to be sweet. Other than that, portions are big, food was super good and would definetly recommend.

Diner Review №33

Terrible..my family had been coming here since they opened and the food has gone from good to awful..not even real thai, it's basically a mediocre Chinese restaurant now.. the last time we visited I ordered the yellow curry chicken that was not only tasteless, but flat out gross ... add to the fact that they only give you about four teaspoonfuls of rice with your meal now, which was not the case previously.. When We complained to the hostess basically Shrugged her shoulder & walked away... really disappointed after having come here for years to see what it's turned into...will never go back again.

Diner Review №34

Ordered Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles with shrimp on a Tuesday night in October. Diverse family atmosphere. Server was polite and prompt. Our entrees came out in minutes. Flavors satisfied our cravings. Clean setting. Adorable town. Free parking within 2 minute walk. Stop by if you appreciate Thai inspiration 🇹🇭

Diner Review №35

Wild Ginger has a good selection of Thai food. We got the pad sew ew, pad Thai, and papaya salad. All delicious! The outdoor dining option is a plus especially during the nice fall weather.

Diner Review №36

Good Thai food.

Diner Review №37

Disappointing 😞...they serve leftover food.. rice wrap spring roll filled with lettuce at an inflated price. We ordered chef special duck, tasted like it was in fridge for a few days and barely warmed up. Had chef special lemon grass shrimp, was very dry, served with plain vegetables and canned pineapple thrown on plate. Food was luke warm....all at a a premium inflated price. Waitress did not even give usual condiments with food. Poor service. Poor attitude. Won't go there again. Wasted my money Then our waitress had the audacity to run my bill right in front of me at the table with options of high percentage tips....😟☹️

Diner Review №38

Great quality every time! Love it here. I always order a Thai Iced Tea and Massaman Curry Chicken. I’ve ordered other items too and they were yummy.

Diner Review №39

The food is always delicious

Diner Review №40

Not thai food. Bland and tasteless.

Diner Review №41

This is not Thai food. It is a Chinese food. I
The taste is no where near Thai food. You are better off saving ur money and going to a regular Chinese restaurant.

Diner Review №42

great food, good service, calming environment, totally underrated place. my go to for really good thai food

Diner Review №43

Diner Review №44

Diner Review №50

Great red curry and pad see yew!!!!

Diner Review №51

We had our company’s lunch catered from here. About 30 people. They labeled everything and they were so accommodating. They even called us the day of to let us know that the road was closed off and where to park to pick it up. They brought out the food to our car even though it was further away.
The food was delicious, the order was precise and nothing was missing. They were so kind. We will definitely be back!
Thank you!

Diner Review №52

Try it out!

Diner Review №53

Good food, good service

Diner Review №56

Very good experience. Our waiter Owen was attentive and delicious entrees.

Diner Review №59

If you’re looking for proper thai food, don’t come here. Food was sub-standard and was not what we expected. We sat outside and they even locked the front door so we could not use the bathroom. Will not go back and will search fir other Thai options.

I love the Tom Khan soup.

Diner Review №64

So I've been loving Newark for almost 2years. Being from Brooklyn I had plenty of options in my old neighborhood.

Well this is the best Thai food I have had in Jersey so far. I will definitely order again. The food Brown rice was a different spin on things. I called ahead and my food was ready in 15mins. The staff was friendly and fast during the checkout process.

Diner Review №65

The drunken noodles, peanut dumplings, and Penang curry are all amazing at Wild Ginger. The servers are all really friendly, and you leave wanting to come back soon.

Diner Review №66

Always exceptional food! Clean and delicious Highly recommended for Thai food.

Diner Review №67

The lady who handed me my order was very nice. But this is the worst Pad Thai I've ever had. No flavor. Can only taste ketchup. I asked for medium spicy, but there's no spice in it. The papaya salad is not much better. Would recommend leaving the mango out of it. Agree with another person that the food is too sweet. Noddles are overcooked. Texture of chicken seems more like Chinese food when tossed in corn starch.

Diner Review №68

Consistently delicious. You honestly can't go wrong with anything- pad see ew, pad thai, pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, tom yum or tom kha soup... you can taste that they only use fresh ingredients.

Diner Review №69

Yummy!!!! Drunken shrimp 🍤 noodles!! The best Thai food!!!!!

Diner Review №70

Diner Review №71

Enjoyed take out right on time. Duck salad was fresh and flavorful, Thai roll interesting and tasty. General Tso’s chicken very good, with delicious brown rice. Calamari was fresh. Crab cake a little spicy for my taste.

Diner Review №72

This place has the best pad Thai in the state! The masaman curi is do delicious and creamy! The servers are so nice and the food always come out quick and amazing every time.

Excellent Thai food.

Diner Review №83

Food was good. The Grilled Thai Shrimp was too sweet. The menu indicated 2 chili peppers next to it so I thought it was spicy however, it was sweet. Very disappointed about that. Other than that everything was good.

Diner Review №84

Diner Review №85

Diner Review №86

Diner Review №87

Good food. In the past service was quick and excellent. Although recently my experience was much slower and worse overall. I would give 5 stars but my past few visits have been sub-optimal.

Diner Review №88

Diner Review №89

When my friend and I arrived earlier today, we were told it would be about a 30-40 minute wait or one table for two. This is the second time we've visited, and we had the same problem we had last time: super long wait.

(We ended up going to a nearby sushi place instead which had more tables)

I'm not sure how good the food is... but the place is always packed in the evenings. I assume the food it pretty good if not excellent because the ratings are very high. They should open a second location because the current location is pretty small and doesn't allow for a lot of customer turnover.

Got take out and was disappointed by the small amount of calamari for $8.50. The food was good, just would have liked more for the money.

Diner Review №94

Diner Review №95

My Red curry was yummy, My husband Pad Thai was just ok, it needed more flavor The service was terrible, not one smiling person. They brought our bill to us just left in on the table with no thank you, nothing. Then a different person brought the receipt for us to sign just left it on the table no thank you nothing. A restaurant should always be welcoming.

This is what I crave when I need some comfort food and it absolutely hits the spot for me.
I usually get - Roti canai, Thai dumplings and drunken noodles with shrimp. Yum.

Diner Review №112

I enjoyed my luncheon selection at this Thai restaurant. Fresh vegetables and fruits , chicken with a delicious mango sauce with just the right sweetness. Wait staff OK. Great lunch special choices.

Diner Review №126

The food was really good.

Diner Review №127

Unlike some of my friends, I really like Thai food. And this place hits the spot!

Diner Review №128

Good thai food at a good price.

Diner Review №129

Nice decor.
Rushed but friendly service.
Food was pretty good, certainly not the best bit perfectly acceptable for a town in the boonies of New Jersey.
Just one bathroom so you need to time your bathroom break when the place is full.
There are a 3 or 4 steps from the sidewalk up onto the restaurant so not strictly handicap accessible. Restaurant itself is flat and accessible.
Overall a pretty good place if you need a good fairly quick meal.

Diner Review №130

The food was okay. The people were very slow in bringing the food to the table.

Diner Review №131

Lunch special can't be beat. So many choices. Mix and match. Food is delicious, always great service

Good price for the food, the food was quite good actually, would recommend if you were in the area and wanted Thai food. The street itself is relatively cute, parking can be a tad bit annoying.

Diner Review №143

Pretty good but not great food. Their flavors could use an upgrade, but the soups are usually not bad. Try the duck.

Diner Review №144

Good lunch specials...good thai food. Service not that bad. Cozy ambience.. I went there a couple of times a month. Just make sure you check the bill if you go there with a big group. They put an increased price for one item, of course they changed it but I think it was done on purpose.

Diner Review №145

Food ordered for pick-up was impressively fast and delicious.

Diner Review №146

Thai food is my absolute favorite and Wild Ginger is the real deal. My first time dining here, after shopping in the village at Kimaya's Kloset. Had a great early dinner with my mom. Amazing flavor, portions, and service.
I'm a new regular for sure. Can't wait to return with my husband.

Diner Review №147

Diner Review №148

Ok. Why do they charge extra for rice?!

Diner Review №149

It's food like tonight's - bland, boring, uninspired - that reminds me why our family hadn't ordered food at Wild Ginger for years. A while ago, We gave it a new chance and found the quality had improved. Boy were we all happy. But that experience is not consistent and rarely an A+. On more popular days perhaps there is a different chef because dishes tend to be better - Sunday nights are always a gamble.

We love Thai and feel Maplewood deserves better. In fact, I believe you guys at Wild Ginger can do better. You are the only Thai place in town - please try harder.

Diner Review №150

Diner Review №151

Nice atmosphere

Diner Review №152

After deliberating on a restaurant for some time we settled on Wild Ginger based on the reviews and proximity.

On arrival there was a 40-plus minute wait and many people coming in and out for takeout; this made me feel confident that the food would be great, but boy was I wrong! The food was mediocre at best. The roti canai was good (not amazing) but my main course as well as my friend's was HORRIBLE!!! I ordered green curry salmon and it was the worst green curry I've ever had. There was only a hint of curry and my fish and veggies were swimming in green syrup---SWEET SWEET SWEET. My food tasted as though a recipe for cupcakes was mistakenly used for the sauce--AWFUL! My friend ordered a veggie duck dish which was also extra sweet and he left most of the food on his plate. The wait staff were kind, efficient and as attentive as they could be on a busy night. I won't be returning to this establishment.

Diner Review №153

Every thing tastes sweet. No authentic thai flavor. Place was crowded and I assumed naturally that the food & flavor would be great. I wont go back again. They need to fire the chef and hire an authentic thai cook.

Imitation is best form of flattery, but on a side note here lots of chinese are now owning and operating thai & japanese restaurants. I avoid those. Just not authentic enough.

Diner Review №154

Not everything is great, but the curries are top notch.

Diner Review №155

Spent my honeymoon in Thailand so maybe I'm biased, but the food is only ok. Which I guess is ok.

Diner Review №156

Great, reasonable and quick luck spot. Check them out at lunch time during the week for good food, good specials and a good meal.

Diner Review №157

Best asian takeout in Maplewood, though it does seem a bit pricey sometimes.

Diner Review №158

Good quality food! Not greasy and portions are nice.

Diner Review №159

This charming restaurant is only small in space not flavor!
Some of the best Thai food I've had in the area. I love the Crispy Thai Shrimp and the Grilled Shrimp Thai Style.

Diner Review №160

Good food. A bit pricey for the quantity.

Diner Review №161

Loved everything about this small place. The specialty teas were great.

Diner Review №162

Satays are good. Spicy Basil Sauce is good, as is the Eggplant Delight
