Finally had the chance to try this spot. We ordered the green curry, pineapple fried rice, eggplant dish, and chicken pad Thai. The curry came with jasmine rice which always hits the spot. It had a delicious spicy kick to it and hint of sweetness. The pad Thai could’ve been spicier but it was seasoned perfectly. We also ordered the chicken satay that came with the peanut sauce. It was okay.
The service was really slow. We arrived around 4pm and ordered at 4:30 ish but our food arrived at 6-7pm …. We were super hungry so the wait was strenuous.
The interior decor was thoughtfully placed for the season and had a cozy feel to it.

I’m a delivery driver and was picking up food from here, granted, food was not for me but I asked to use the bathroom being that I was providing a service for the restaurant. The attendant responded to me saying she doesn’t like my kind using the bathroom because our kind leaves a mess in the bathroom and she has to clean it. I understand the frustrations of working in a restaurant industry because I have worked in many gigs at restaurants, however, that does not make saying racist comments to an individual acceptable. Another young lady who heard the comments from the attendant walked out and decided not to order. I would not recommend o this restaurant to anyone I know nor will I provide my services here anymore.

My friend and I went here right before Christmas so the ambience was very cozy and warm. Elena (sorry if I got the name slightly wrong :P) served us. She was just wonderful, extremely sweet and always had a smile on her face! We had basil fried rice, crispy volcano shrimp, and Pad Kee Mao. All the dishes were yum but wish they were a bit more hot! For the desert, we went with melted choco lava with ice cream which was okay. The best part is it has BYOB. So have fun with your drinks as well!
It was a great night overall. Thanks to Topaz!

I went to Topaz with my girlfriend.
It was very good the ambience and the atmosphere was very nice.
The food was awesome and we like it a lot.
We got :
1. Crispy shrimp roll.
2. Basil fried rice.
3. Asian wok style ( garlic chicken)
Everything was very good and yummy. We liked Asian wok style garlic chicken a lot.
They also gave small candies with the bill.

Shoutout to Lexi, who suggested us and gave us informations about the dish. She was very friendly as well.

Will recommmend people in nearby place to go and try out this restaurant.
Will visit again soon.

I have eaten her many times before but the food this last time was not good. It upset our stomachs and seems rushed.

The lunch option is a good deal for takeaway. Not 100 authentic but hits the spot.

Food has become lackluster.... even the Thai ice tea is meh!

Came here for lunch and several other occasions for dinner. Pad Thai was extremely small portions and greasy as the other review mentioned. they tend to skimp on ingredients which is so dissatisfying. If you ask for extra veggies they will charge extra $4! No other Thai restaurants does that.
If you want a small kiddo dish with little ingredients for $15 here is the place for you. It’s really not worth it.

I got take out from here and the pad Thai was so soggy from all the oil that was used. I have never had such a greasy pad Thai. I wasn’t even able to finish the full plate from how much oil it had it was literally dripping out of the pad Thai. I immediately got a stomach ache after having it too.

Pad Thai should NEVER be that greasy.

I don’t recommend this place.

I am so disappointed with my experience today. My husband and I usually have amazing food, but this time the food was really different. We ordered crispy volcanic chicken and couldn’t stomach the smell of it. I dont know what Happened this time, but they lost a customer, because I traveled 40 minutes to have a bad experience

Always a great experience. Food is always delicious. Thai iced teas are my favorite as well as any noodle dish. The service is even more impressive. I always have a nice chat with our server even when I’m picking up delivery. Definitely my go to Thai place!

The food was amazing and quick service! The Mama Loaded Tacos were AMAZING 🔥 I got the curry was very tasty and same with the pork, plus the fried ice cream!

I am an extremely picky eater so I was reluctant to try this Thai location. My husband decided to get it anyway, and I’m so glad that he did. The food came so hot as if we were just served in the restaurant. Granted I only live about a mile from this location however I was still impressed. Our first time we bought the Gyoza, drunken noodle and pineapple chicken fried rice. Each bite was delicious and better than the last. Food is delicious tasty but not over seasoned, trust me when I tell you, you will not be disappointed. We’ve had it several times since and will continue to order from Topaz.

Absolutely amazing place. We were in Branch Brook Park, Newark, NJ for Cherry Blossom Festival and then decided to go eat somewhere. Some of us, myself, due to health reasons have some dietary limitations and this place was absolutely fantastic. For starters we got Vegetable Tacos, which was incredible and what we liked is that the shell is made with rice paper, so no corn. It was delicious. Then we had main courses. Two of us had massaman curry (one with chicken and one with tofu), then my wife had mango curry with tofu and my mother in law had basil rice. All the dishes were impressive, and considering that I had Thai food many times and in many different areas, this one was impressive and very tasty. Definitely going to be back and try some other dishes. Great place to dine.

FINALLLYYY!!! I’ve been craving authentic thai food similar to a place that I would frequent in NYC! I have now found it! I called to inquire about how their food is prepared and the worker was very kind and told the truth!! The Drunken noodles were delicious and authentic not sweet! My new spot!!

Ordered take out for lunch. Had the massaman curry and drunken noodles. The curry was flavorful, rich and not too heavy. The drunken noodles were wonderfully spicy and flavorful. Excellent food!

Topaz no longer makes the really great pumpkin soup… Does anyone know where the chef went that made this amazing soup

It has been a few years since we’ve dined in, but we frequently order takeout — and it’s—consistently—delicious! I’ve been helped by reviews when making decisions about where to eat, shop, etc. and am trying to get better about leaving reviews that could possibly help others. My favorite items are the Basil fried rice with chicken and tofu and Tom Yum soup. My family likes the Topaz fried rice and pad see ew.

Small neighborhood type place. Just a few tables. Good food. Service somewhat slow. Very good choice of dishes and very good food. I would recommend.

If you haven't tried this place out, and you love Thai food, you will love this place! We had the papaya salad, it was fresh, tasty, and crisp. Generous portion, enough for two people to share. Then we had the Thom Kah soup. It was delicious 😋 one of the best I ever had. Finally came the chicken Kra Pow, with plenty of Thai basil, garlic, string beans, a very generous portion, we both had to bring some home. You can order white or brown rice with it. There was also delicious dessert choices but we were too full. The place was very clean and bright. The service was excellent. Give it a try

Food tastes great, but the portion size is lacking. I ordered shrimp drunken noodles for an extra $2 ($18+ worth of food) and only got 4 pieces of shrimp. A little overpriced for the quantity of food -- portions seem to have gotten a lot smaller since doing solely take -out.

Disappointed - wish they'd go back to in person dining. Atmosphere at the restaurant used to be homey/lively, but now is depressing

The Spicy basil was decent, it was spicy like the name of the dish.
But the CHICKEN SATAY was HORRIBLE!!!!! It stink so bad, it smells like bad smelling feet. The sauce was just as bad.
It was a waste of money.

Food was really good. We have been going here since we moved to NJ. Learning that they are now on Uber eats makes it a bit easier to access. We have had their steamed dumplings, curry chicken puffs, volcano chicken, pork curry fried rice, pad Thai, drunken noodles, their amazing Thai iced tea , duck salad amongst other things. Their seasoning, spices and good quality are consistent. Will continue to buy or order from their during my time cravings. Thank you Topaz for all you do.

Consistently I credible service and flavor! Definitely my favorite Thai spot since moving to Jersey 5 years ago. The volcano chicken is hands down the best!!!

Good quality food

Had the Spicy Pad Chipotle with Chicken. It was outstanding. Perfect heat level. The Steamed Dumpling was very good as well. Will definitely order from them again.

Don’t let people who misplace their misery on restaurant review pages affect your decision to order from here. The food is always delicious, I’ve been coming here for years. No one cares if there’s new management, I don’t come here to stare at pictures on the wall and leaving 3 stars for that is irrelevant and also affects people’s livelihood. You walk in, grab your bag of food and leave (minimal room for error here IMO) The food is great, every time, and the staff is always fine when I go! Highly recommend it here.

I'm big on hospitality. I didn't get a greeting, nothing after being in there for a few minutes. Someone who walked in minutes after me was addressed and serviced immediately before I was even acknowledged at all. So I wasn't a fan of that. The soup was ok, it did what it needed at that time, but nothing to rave over. Personally I like buying where I feel comfort and that wasn't a comfortable experience at all. I felt like I was judged walking in, hopefully I'm wrong.

First let me start by saying I have been a loyal fan of Topaz for about 15 years. I love a Momma and the staff that worked there. With that being said, I went today to pick up my lunch order since there is currently no dining and found myself at a loss for words when I saw the place. No warm greeting like before, place always looked homey. The atmosphere used to be so inviting. Now it looks like a regular Chinese restaurant. All the decor is gone no more family pictures like before. I asked the lady and she said it’s under new management. BUT, the food I ordered was really good and cannot complain about that. I will continue ordering from Topaz but I can’t say that a part of me feels we lost an amazing place.

They're only take out right now. The food we ordered was yummy and even the mild still had a liiitle kick which was fine with me.

I like the food but not since after covid the shorting us on the food and raised the price. Fried rice dish depending on what meat you want instead of giving us 4 shrimp we get two no. I ordered the seafood fried rice there's which is $20. There was hardly no seafood in there just a lot of rice and two shrimp. For $20 that aint right just for a bowl of fried rice hardly no seafood.

Topaz is one of my favorite places to go to! I always nag my friends to go there. Food is reasonably priced and delicious.Atmosphere is cozy, clean and friendly. Would be great for a date! You also get a lot of food. Staff is friendly and its byob. There is absolutely nothing i can find wrong about this place. Wish them always the best of luck.

Update 2021: we came all the way from South Jersey to come here as this was the place we'd always eat at when living in the area. Unfortunately, we called about 4 times after it opened for no one to answer. We also tried to see if it was opened. It was not. Google says it is. It would be great to know for sure and update the times if it wasn't. Needless to say. We traveled there for nothing and drove back without it. Maybe next time.

Delicious. You know how Pad Thai w/ Chicken can be a little (or more) dry, with the chicken resembling little more than "pieces of leather?" NOT this place, everything I've ever ordered is moist, flavorful, and fresh.

I really wanted to like this place as I love Thai food and have been looking for a good local place. I decided to try Topaz today for the first time and unfortunately, my food was not that great. I'm giving 3 stars for ease of ordering, good packaging, and quick and friendly service. I ordered the pad see ew and spring rolls. The noodles were way over cooked and all stuck together and quite mushy. The flavor was on but with the overcooked noodles, I couldn't enjoy the meal. I guess I'll stick with Thai Essence in Nutley.

The best Thai Food in Belleville NJ, Pad See-Ew and Pad Kee Mao were tasty. Thai ice tea it was very refreshing.

This was some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten. They don't allow dine in still, which is a bummer.

This is my go to spot! I have to try to remember to get other things bc I fell in love with the Volcano Chicken! I stop in and grab a Thai Ice Tea all summer. I’ve never say down in here even when it was an option. My son even loves the food and he’s super picky, chicken fingers and French fry type guy....

Now I will say this, they are not the friendliest bunch of workers, pleasantries are limited but I like to chalk this up to cultural differences and the fact that they are always busy! It’s not off putting enough to make me not wanna pay for their product.

Poor attitude & service of the woman taking orders. If I’m spending my money, the least you can do is greet customers. And since they didn’t I left and went where the service is spectacular & the food amazing. It doesn’t matter how busy you are, you don’t have to be rude.

Delicious! ordered the Thai chicken fried rice with a Thai iced coffee. My husband ordered a Thai iced tea, and we both enjoyed the drinks. The rice was incredible, literally ate it within minutes of having it! great spot. Worth a try if looking for a near by Thai spot.

This place has great pad thai, pad see ew, etc. and they can be customized (e.g. made without eggs) to fit customers’ dietary needs.

My favorites include the grilled pork and the loaded thai tacos. The pork is extremely juicy. Whereas the tacos were very aromatic since they were filled with many spices. The ladies who run this restaurant are extremely friendly. But, there is a $15 dollar minimum charge for credit cards. There is also a parking lot conveniently located right next to Topaz. If it’s full, customers can also find street parking around the area.

Update: randomly increased prices but is not listed anywhere. Check out my other reviews to see which places are better nearby.

The area this restaurant is in is extremely sketchy. I suggest going during the day, or going with a buddy at night because I was genuinely scared. The food itself has a weird flavor to it. I had to force myself to finish it off. Also, I had to buy an extra drink because I didn't have cash on me and they have a $15 credit card minimum which should really be stated on the phone when they take an order. The thai iced tea I was forced to get was mediocre.

Food is good. I have never seen the desserts that are posted on this review site though, lol. 15 dollar minimum to use a credit card.

Ordered spicy basil noodles with chicken lunch special over phone. When I arrive lady tells me $11.72. I'm like thats the wrong order then. Lunch special supposed to be $8. She breaks into some speech about chicken price increase then shows me menu with price change and says: "been changed at least 2 weeks: where you been!" Lady, you don't know me like that to talk that way. 37.5% price increase is ridiculous. Let the buyer beware...

This place is worth trying. Currently they are only doing takeout. Is it authentic Thai, not really. It caters to the palate of the neighborhood.

We've ordered the fish cake. It was cooked and spiced well. Pad sew eww and spicy basil noodle was too sweet that we could not eat it. It was like eating a dessert. If you order it, ask for less sugar. The standout dish of the restaurant is the crispy basil duck. Juicy and crispy duck served along a garlic basil sauce. Must order this.

Overall it is a decent restaurant with friendly staff. Just ask for less sugar in your food

One of the best Thai restaurants around. Try the duck dishes, really good but can't go wrong with any of their menu items. Best of all are the reasonable prices.

Great Thai food. Their Thai tacos are an amazing must try! The shrimp pad thai was authentic and delicious. Pad see ew over had many times that seems to be so salty at other locations is just right here. Really flavorful and delicious.

First off this should have been 5 stars. The location is centralized well. The food is tasty and can be made to your liking. However, the service is horrible. The individuals that work the establishment are rude when addressed with questions or asking for additional items. It's a shame because the behavior alone take away from this charming resturant. I hope they work to improve this matter. Go for the food, the environment is not friendly.

This review is not for the food (because I never got to it thanks to them) but for the customer service. The restaurant says it closes at 10pm (9:30pm on Google)on saturday. It does not offer delivery or dine in so I called them twice in the day to see if they take over the phone orders and what time the kitchen closes. Both times the call was not picked or went to mail box straight. Nevertheless, reading the good food reviews I arrived at 9:10 to find the restaurant closed. When I waved at the staff inside, she just gestured back saying its closed. Well, I can clearly see that but do keep it permanently closed if you don’t want the business. Else, either update your restaurant timings or pick up the goddam phone. The food might be great but it doesn’t help if I drive 15 mins for nothing. In the covid era, when businesses are struggling to survive and its as it is hard to find food after 8pm, this left a very sour experience in my head

I typically only write reviews for bad experiences (yes I’m horrible) but this place deserves all the stars it has. It was my first time trying Thai food so I don’t have much to compare to, but it was delicious. Ordered the loaded Thai taco as, mushroom puffs, crispy shrimp rolls, and pork pad Thai noodles. The shrimp rolls were super crunchy and the dipping sauce amazing. My new go to take out spot!

Crispy Volcano Chicken is the food of gods.

I’ve been going to topaz for years it was one of my favorite spots to go to. Last few years the quality of food has gone downhill!! Idk if it’s the same owners but it’s been bad! Just yesterday I order food and they both were terrible had to throw one of them away & the other I ate a little bit because I was starving. The noodles literally tasted burnt and smelled burnt too and the basil rice order literally had no flavor to it. Sad because back in the day the food was AMAZING disappointing to see what’s happened to one of your favorite locations.

I ordered the pad thai, the volcano chicken and spring rolls for take out. And I say that because usually food doesn't always carry well, but the food was crispy and delicious.

The price was also very good for the portions and I must give them credit for pumping out all the food in a timely manner. There must of been 15 orders in front of mine and my food still came out in about 25mins!

Great taste, great service, friendly waitress. Better priced.

This place is phenomenal. I'm plant based so I am able to make accommodations. Food is bomb and MAMA treated me like family even though it was my first time. You can't pay for service like that. For all my plant based peeps get the Topaz Rice , with no egg of course.

Best Thai food in NJ!! The volcano chicken is my favorite dish. The beef pad Thai with pineapples is another favorite as well as the spring rolls for an appetizer. Can’t forget the fried pound cake with ice cream and deep friend Oreos!!

Love the volcano chicken and the topaz fried rice. They have levels of spiciness but be careful after level 3 it's really hot!
