Food was delicious and I prefer pad Thai and boat noodle soup here

Diner Review №3

Food was so good! The plate was full!
Staff were very kind and nice. The restaurant was empty but they have the best Thai food in the city!

I recently visited Thai Gai Yang Café in St. Louis, and I loved the food! I ordered the Hot and Sour Soup, and it was excellent and delicious. The flavors were just right, and I enjoyed every bite. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. Overall, a great experience. I’ll definitely be going back!

Diner Review №6

Some of the best Thai food I've had. Pim was cooking the evening I went. She came out and introduced herself to our group. She is fantastic!

Diner Review №8

Food is good but don’t use prices that are shown on the online menus as estimate. Actual cost is about 2x more. I was expecting to pay $50 for takeout and was charged $89.

Diner Review №10

They do not handle customer service well when it comes to miscommunication. The cashier was total disrespect and threw my partial refund on the counter. I order 3 spring rolls and she charged me for 3 orders. When I arrived I questioned the cost and she argued with me that I should clearly know what's on the menu. She was very nasty!!!!

Diner Review №11

Ngl, I was a little nervous eating here with all the mixed reviews but the food was 5 ⭐️! The portion sizes were huge, the food was hot, service was great and fast! I highly recommend the pad see ew. We will be back 😮‍💨

Diner Review №12

PLEASE don't eat here. The place is FULL of knots and I was unable to eat my meal,I asked them to take the food away and I was charged for food that I didn't eat. This place SUCKS

Diner Review №13

I’m a huge fan of the St Louis food scene, and I rarely have bad things to say about local restaurants. Unfortunately, the service and food I received at this restaurant were beyond disappointing. When we walked into the establishment, there was only 1 other patron there and the room was 100% silent - no talking and no music. This was a minor discomfort, but the disappointment continued when they served us obviously rancid tofu in our curry - it smelled and tasted unlike any other tofu I’ve ever had (and I’m a vegetarian, so I eat a lot of tofu). The waitress apologized and said they were going to get new tofu from the other location to remake the dish. We had somewhere to be, so we asked that they just comp the curries with the tofu, and we’d be happy to pay for the non-spoiled appetizer we consumed. She claimed she couldn’t take anything off the bill, and offered us 50% off each curry. I have never, ever asked for food to be taken off my bill, but the food I received was so bad that I couldn’t walk out knowing I paid for rancid/rotten food. I’m disappointed that I even had to pay 50% for the inedible meal. Unfortunately the ambience, service, and food were all a flop here. Avoid at all costs…

Diner Review №14

This restaurant changed it name, its menu, and its prices. The dishes were much different than what was listed online and the prices doubled. When we went in and tried to order it was very confusing and the person taking our order was confused when we tried to submit our orders based on the online menu. The sign above the restaurant still says Thai Gai Yang Cafe but in the windows they list the Thai Country Cafe. Food was ok but overpriced. Ignore everything about Thai Gai Yang and go look up Thai Country Cafe.

So when I walked in I was told they no longer had Khao Pad Thai, they kept trying to get me to order something I didn’t understand. I kept asking them do you have a plain fried rice with chicken, they said no. But then I told my 5 year old son they didn’t have fried chicken, the hostess then show me the kids portion of the menu that had the chicken fried rice. It was really the best thing we ordered. I also ordered the crab Rangoon which had a stick of what looks like imitation crab in it, the pot stickers were cool. My teenager usually gets the chicken pad Thai… it’s usually really good but tonight the glass noodles are slimy and hard to eat. The pac peanut sen shrimp comes with glass noodles and it’s no lie I can’t eat it bc the noodles are so slimy and gross. The chicken satay were good. I never had this experience with them before. I spent $75 with them and it wasn’t worth it. My family and I will not be going back.

Diner Review №17

Rice whichever you get is all vegetable oil and a big pile of mush. White rice too. Stick like mash and old. Too expensive for very poor quality of food. Gone just soup. Can’t mess up soup, or maybe they can

Horrible biggest mistake in life

Diner Review №21

Our first time at this restaurant and we were greatly disappointed. The Crab Rangoon had a runny sweet filling, the shrimp rolls had bad shrimp in them. We couldn't eat the food. Paid the bill and left.

Diner Review №23

Visited again after 30 years and it's still one of my favorite places to eat. Sadly they no longer have my favorite dish. Please bring back Khao Lahd Nar Gai!

Diner Review №24

The quality of the food has really gone downhill, and they didn't inform us that we couldn't pay with our cards until we got the check. We had to use Zelle and Cash App. This place has lost my business.

Diner Review №27

Disgusting, sticky floors, sticky table, and a rat literally ran across the floor while we ate!

Do not go here if you value your health!

Diner Review №28

I first ate here 5 years ago and remembered the food being good, so we decided to give it another go.

The service was great, the staff was friendly. But the food I ordered was not how I remembered.

We ordered Crab Rangoon and it was nothing like Crab Rangoon I've had at other Asian restaurants. The filling was liquid, it looked like icing. And it was super sweet.

My main course was also way too sweet. I ordered a peanut sauce based dish, and I could taste the amount of sugar they put in the sauce. The tofu tasted like it was sauteed in sugar.

Diner Review №29

We should've turned around as soon as we entered and the musty sewer-ish smell was awful. Where we sat was mildly less smelly, The appetizers were just so-so and the beef noodle soup beef was inedible. Besides being brought out long after the other food, it was full of gristle and bland. The waitress, seeing the large blob of gray meat left on a plate, should have discounted the meal, but didn't. I guess we should've pushed harder. We will never go back.

Diner Review №30

Phenomenal food.
I wish they would wait between courses a little longer.
But really, outstanding food!

Diner Review №31

I like the pad Thai. Refrain from ordering soup...

Diner Review №32

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!! Just go with any other place. I'm assuming they have changed ownership and have young family members working that have NO IDEA what anything is on the menu. Can't recommend anything to you and the card reader barely ever works. In years past this place had amazing, great tasting food. I don't know what they have now. Plus they had red cups filled with water with paper towels covering them. So your water is just sitting out and hopefully a bug doesn't land inside. RUN. Highly disappointed, save yourself the time and go elsewhere.

Diner Review №33

Food was fine. It's a college town food restaurant so don't expect anything mind-blowing.

3.5 stars

Diner Review №34

This was our first time visiting this restaurant they were just opening for the day as we were greeted at the door, we were seated and we choose to sit in the window seats that were form fitted leather and very comfortable we then was offered our menu’s, the menu was easy to read with plenty of items to choose from we ordered our food and some of the food came out really fast. The appetizers were a great size and was delicious. I tasted everything that we ordered and I will be back.

Diner Review №35

The table was sticky.

The shrimp rolls were super oily - though they did come out right away.

The pad Kee mao was also super oily and took at least 45 mins to come out. It's not busy maybe 6-8 tables. I'm pretty sure they gave my food to the wrong table and had to make it again when I asked.

Looking around - there are tables where one person has their food and others are waiting for theirs. For a WHILE. I overheard one table who's appetizer came out well after their entree.

My take is that the kitchen doesn't know what the hell it's doing. There are many better options for Thai in the area. I won't be back here.

The staff was nice but that isn't enough to make up for the poor execution.

Truly a hidden with delicious food, best crab Rangoon and Pot Stickers I've ever had! Super cheap and the Aroma when you walk in is heavenly!

Diner Review №40

Ordered carryout from Thai Gai Yang Cafe and the food was okay, but nothing special. The spice was really mild even though I asked for the spiciest they offered. It ended up taking about 15 minutes longer than expected. They also didn't have the drinks I ordered and failed to tell me until after my food was ready and I was about to pay.

Diner Review №41

Loved the food here! Perfect balance of taste and heat. Will be returning again whenever in the city!

Diner Review №42

Everything delicious!

Diner Review №43

Diner Review №44

I have found the best Tom Yum soup in St.Louis! Amazing flavor! Just delicious.

Diner Review №45

This is my own experience which prolly isn’t representative of what the quality usually is here, but the food here is not amazing. I got the pad khao tai and it was more congee than fried rice. It also tore up my innards afterwards.

All I’m trying to say is that I’d be cautious but not close minded about going here

Diner Review №46

Diner Review №47

Servers were really nice but the food was mediocre.

Diner Review №48

We went because I was wanting curry but to not spend a whole ton like the restaurants nearby. At first walking in was a little sketchy and there were many there. Why husband had the dumpling soup which was pretty good not amazing ya know. Though we also got crab rangoons, chicken satay, and gang dang curry all of which were so tasty. I can never find good curry but this was amazing, the chicken satay had peanut sauce and it was magnificent, and lastly the crab rangoons were very good as well. Good prices and phenomenal food. May look sketch but trust me it’s worth it.

Diner Review №50

I have some leftover from there and just found a dead fly. 💀 Even though, the taste is good, this shows me that they are not clean. Also, the ceiling of their women’s restroom has a big hole due to a leaky pipe. Order at your own risk.

Diner Review №51

Ordered food now over an hour ago via takeout, was told it would take 20 mins. I arrived after 40 and still had to wait 20 minutes. Nothing was offered in terms of customer service. I will never come back as there are too many other Thai places in the area with better service and respect for time

Diner Review №52

Yummy and spicy Thai food

Diner Review №53

Diner Review №54

This place is definitely 5/5! The food is so great and amazing quality. Me and my friends really enjoyed it and their crab rangoons and pot stickers are to die for!! I would one hundred percent recommend this place it compares to no other Thai restaurant I’ve had before!!! It some ho3s in dis house‼️👀

Diner Review №55

I ordered chicken satay to go with other menus and the chicken was not cooked properly. It was cooked like a tuna tatami, only cooked outside.

Diner Review №56

New review February 2022:
Something has happened to the quality, and its not good.
Maybe new ownership? This shop had the BEST tom yung soup, now it is not as good even as done by a poor Thai restaurant. The soup was (hard to believe, from Thai food) almost bland. The pork dumplings were not worth half of the cost. Try one of the nearby Thai restaurants first.

Thai Gai Yang has been my favored restaurant (of any) in STL, but now, no more, until they get back to the high quality they used to posses.

Prior review (2018 or so):
Several Thai restaurants in the area, and more spread out in the county, but this one has the best food of all. The Tom Yum soup is superior to ALL the others, and their multitude of other foods are also very good.

Diner Review №57

This place is sooooo delicious. They let you order ahead, and they accommodated my special food requests. I'll be back the next time I want Thai!

Diner Review №58

My husband and I always try to find a good Thai place when traveling. After reading reviews on several in the area, we settled on Thai Gai Yang - but with hesitancy because we were the only people there. But don't let that deter you!! It was soooooo good. They did a ton of to-go orders while we were there (covid + freezing temps) and several other people came in after us. My husband had the Gang Dang curry and I had Thai peanut noodles. Both were excellent. My one warning - even though there is no pepper indicator on all menu items, expect a tiny bit of eat with every dish. Its Thai afterall.

Diner Review №59

Decent.

Diner Review №60

Super nice staff, amazing food.

Diner Review №61

66 people with 4.4 star rating. Did they all get paid or just don't know Thai food? Absolutely aweful dishes. Whoever the chef is, this person doesn't understand how to cut meats. Noodle all overcooked and just disgusting. I post many reviews on google, and this was one of the worst food experiences in Delmar Loop

Diner Review №62

Green Curry was amazing and the interioris very cool!

Diner Review №63

Diner Review №64

Ok

Diner Review №65

I went to eat today with my husband, I had Kao Soi(Thai northern noodle) and my husband had BBQ noodle. It was super delicious just like I eat in Thailand.
I would recommend this place if you want to try REAL Thai food.

Diner Review №66

Wrong order and just poorly flavored food. Ordered rice plate but gave me rice noodle instead even though he repeated the order on the phone. Crispy roll was undercooked and not crispy. Overall food was too salty and just not authentic Thai food. Stay away!

Diner Review №67

Diner Review №68

This is the best Thai restaurant in the Wash U area. My go to dish is the Panang curry with duck. The Iced Tea is perfect. They don't have the best pad thai around but it is no slouch either.

Diner Review №69

Diner Review №70

I'm giving this a bad review for 2 different reasons. #1 when my wife ordered her Pad Thai she asked for it to not be spicy. When it came she could not eat it because of how spicy it was. I got Med spice on mine and it was just as spicy as mine. #2 when we ask for them to take her food off the order they refused and said that the food just comes spicy. I get it that thai food can be spicy but when someone asks for no spiciness then you should at least let them know that's not possible and point to something else on the menu that isn't spicy. Horrible experience overall. We will not be returning.

Diner Review №71

Food was excellent. When you order spicy, expect your nose to run and your eyes to water.

I don't know what old rotten 1950s saccharin candy they boiled to make their Thai tea, but I was not about it.

Diner Review №77

Excellent!

Diner Review №78

good food for a good price; staff was slow to take our order, but it was busy at the time

Diner Review №79

One of our go-to places at the Loop because they do not disappoint! The hit it out of the park once again with their delicious food. The place was clean, staff is friendly and masked for our safety. We'll keep coming back for sure!

TRY THE THAI TEA....This place by far is the best Thai restaurant I've been to in a long time. The food was delivered hot, it had just the right amount of spice. The place was a very clean, I got an education from the student I'm hosting from Thailand. She ordered for the both of us and,.. ok look this place is nice for you by yourself, bring a friend, bring a group, for the group call first. I got full off the thai rice! I had to take the rest home. You will not be disappointed coming for lunch or dinner.

Diner Review №97

Really enjoyed the Tom Yum soup! Flavor was great!

Diner Review №98

Not good. Sorry but been to many places that were much better. You do have great service but that is all. Way to over priced as we'll. Your Food is not good.

Enjoyed the Pad Thai Chicken with clear noodles. Portion size was great and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Will definately go back.

Diner Review №100

Diner Review №111

The food is amazing! The noodle soups will knock your socks off❤

Diner Review №112

Delicious aa always... Tonight the service was extremely slow. The place was empty and it was almost an hour before we had food.

Diner Review №113

I have been going here for over 10 years and no other Thai food I have tried even compares. 6/5 stars.

Diner Review №114

I was going to take away a star for the lack of drinks (no alcohol or fountain sodas) but the food was so effing good I had to go with all 5.

Diner Review №115

This is a pretty good Thai place. I got the Pad Spicy Basil Moo Krob which came with crispy pork belly. It was pretty good and I would suggest if you are a hug pork belly fan. The staff are always really nice and price is good for what you get. I will be stopping by again.

Diner Review №116

I absolutely love this place! It is one of the best Thai restaurants in the StL!

Diner Review №117

Fantastic and authentic dishes.
