Casual spot with an eclectic Pan-Asian menu including curries, rice dishes & gluten-free options.
There service was not great the food is to expensive on how it tastes. I have been here 3 years ago the food was perfect and the service was perfect but fast forward i come back today and get my regular green curry with chicken and this is what i got three year ago and it was soo good and now it’s bland and tastes like straight bamboo shoots. My mom got the Thai stir fried cashews and the dish was watery and wet the cashews were soggy just overall not good. So let me save you a trip and money and go somewhere else this food is not good. But at least the rice was heavily portioned and tasted well.
Tasty, flavorful food, with generous portion sizes. Met with family here and everyone enjoyed their food. The Currys are all amazing. I got the fried pineapple rice, which came in a pineapple, and subbed a salmon fillet. The fried tofu was delicious, the satay was amazing and so well flavored. The fresh spring rolls are good. Chicken wings are okay, nothing special. The drunken noodles are fabulous. The ginger rice is heavy on the ginger, with giant chunks. Definitely coming back to try all the Currys!
Solid Pad Thai! The fried tofu was chewy and flavorful. The sauce was rich and savory. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Wish there were more been sprouts, egg, and garlic chives to freshen up the dish. I love plentiful garnishes! Still, the tofu’s texture and the noodles’ flavor were spot-on. Would definitely order it for lunch again.
An authentic place to get Thai food, finally! The servings are generous and it would break your wallet. The desserts are worth saving space for but the seasonal mango ones are not always available so just ask your server when they will be available next like the mango sticky rice (yum!)
There’s free covered parking across the street or at the basement of the complex on Market Street.
I love this place. The food is amazing. Online ordering is super easy. I drive 20 minute each way to get take out. Eat here!
DONT EVER ORDER TO GO. All you’re doing is putting gas honors Porsches and Range Rover‘s and never comes out as fast as they quote and they’re rude about it. We waited an hour and a half multiple times for food that was quoted to come out in 20 minutes for takeout don’t ever go here.
Never order takeout. They don’t manage the kitchen at all. And lie with “5 min”. Not worth the food and don’t “pre-tip”
Take out is great! Drunken noodles were excellent (hot spice), along with the pineapple curry- delish! Will be back. Yum 😋
Honestly food was solid, but the server messed up my order twice because she did not write the order down. I ordered Mild Beef massaman curry. Got chicken, so I asked to get it replaced. Then she gave me the beef, but for some reason she made the spice level to medium. Which I do not know why she changed it to medium, when the first one she gave me was already mild. Made me not enjoy the food as much as I wanted to.
How hard is it to just write the order down so you dont mess it up?
Their Tom Yum soup is the best thing I’ve ever tasted. When I had an issue with my doordash order that resulted in me not getting my soup, I cried harder than I did at my dad’s funeral — and he was a great guy.
The food was ok, but the service was horrible! Our server looked so angry. He took our order, brought out the food and that was it! We had to asked another server for more hot water for the tea & to go containers. Will never go back.
This is one of my favorite places to eat. Food is delicious, you should try the pineapple curry with shrimp, it is just the best. This place is so good, that it gets crowded around dinner time, try to come here a little early if you don't want to wait for a table.
Very tasty Thai dishes at very reasonable prices
Amazing Thai restaurant! Service is great, and we love the menu. Lots of options. Comfortable seating and surroundings. Would highly recommend.
Very good Thai food. The pineapple fried rice served in a pineapple is great.
Some of the best food in Edina! The staff is prompt and courteous. The atmosphere is classy yet comfortable. The pineapple fried rice comes in a half pineapple and tastes amazing!
This place has my heart. Some of my favorite pad kee mao in the states!
The most bland Thai food I have ever eaten. We tried 3 dishes and none of them were edible. If you are looking for Thai food that has lots of flavor and spice, this is not the place.
Horrible service. I went in to order Pad Thai take out. Just one singular serving. When I walked in I was not greeted with a smile. The front staff looked angry that I was even in there. On top of that my one order took them an hour and a half…. I’ve worked in the industry and I I’ve never seen one order of food take that long even in the busiest of rushes. Not to mention there was only about five tables in the restaurant. To make things worse when I got home the food was cold and disgusting. Never coming back.
So far the best Thai Cuisine place. The food tasted fresh, adequately spiced... The variety of curries, preparation, quantity is all good. Loved the squash Curry, Tom Kha soup...
Best Tom Ka soup I’ve ever had. It had actual chunks of lemongrass and galangal root. Our waiter said it’s better than any he’s had in Thailand.
Incredible food and service at a fantastic price and casual atmosphere, suitable for families and first dates alike! Also they are super accommodating - we visited without a reservation and they still managed to seat us. Try the drunken noodles, the tom kha soup... and the chicken Satay is perfect for toddlers!
Service was terrible. We ordered veg dishes, she brought non veg and said well other people like this. Why would she decide for us?
I met a colleague for a work lunch and the food was fine but not as good as I was hoping for and the service was lackluster at best.
Great Thai food ...lots of options for vegetarian too
I love this place! Their green curry and pad see ew is the best!
Absolutely top notch!
Most everything on the menu is fabulous. The rest I just haven't tried to know! The service is always great, with the occasional forgetful things, but always willing to fix anything 😉
Inviting and friendly service and great menu choices.
Absolutely delicious. A mastery of Thai cuisine.
Amazing place and always my go to place for thai food!! Definitely recommend.
The food had no flavor - the basil fried rice tasted like boiled rice, no Thai flavors, very disappointed. I’d recommend going to the Grand Ave location.
Probably the best Thai place in the twin cities suburbs. Great quantity and amazing taste.
My husband and I were huge fans of Coconut Thai and it was our favorite take out/dine in restaurant for Thai Food. However, the last visit we brought home our typical favorite of Crab Fried Rice and it was FULL of hair. It looks as if it had been chopped up by accident and put in with the food. At first we told ourselves it was crab, but upon closer examination we realized it was hair. I don’t know if someone preparing the food had animal hair on their clothing or what, but it was DISGUSTING. We unfortunately live over 35 minutes away and had to throw our food away. My husband called the restaurant after the holiday to voice our concerns and request some sort of fix for this unsanitary error and we were met with nothing but horrible customer service and gaslighting.
Chia Ice Tea was really tasty. Egg Rolls were really good. Chicken Pad Thai, wow, very good lots of flavor. Will have to go back and try something more. A lot of tasty items on the menu.
Had to change my review. Not as good anymore unfortunately. Meat is always dry!
Racist restaurant NEVER going ever
Again
Coconut Thai is our favorite restaurant, we usually go to the location in St. Paul but decided to try out this location. They were great and now we know we can do either!
Super chic little Thai place! Love the decor and clean lines. The food was delicious! Wasn’t crazy about the egg rolls, but the panang curry and the papaya salad were amazing!
We love the food from this place so we usually take out since their customer service is poor. It is not even like hit and miss, hands down poor customer service always. This is our experience - the staff always treat people of color differently.
We have dined-in here a couple of times. During one of those times we infact saw completely unsatisfied customers telling off the staff how bias they got treated compared to the white people who came there to eat. We consciously ignore their bias treatment when we go there to eat. During our most recent experience what we discovered is that the staff TRY to be nice only when the owner is around. Very pretentious. We met with the owner he seemed a very nice man who genuinely cares for his customers. We was making sure ALL customers had a good dining experience.
The same owner owns another thai restaurant in Apple Valley called Nongs Thai. We are regular to Nongs too. Surprisingly, the staff here are really friendly and sweet.
so good!!! everything is super fresh and flavorful! 10/10!
Literally the best Thai food I have ever had in my life. Even in Thailand.
Great service, awesome food. I Recommend.
Best food in Minneapolis area!! You can tell it’s made with love :)
Service was great as was the food. The battered vegetable appetizer was delicious. The green curry was probably my favorite. The flavor was outstanding. The pad Thai was okay, was a little too sour for my taste, but that won't stop me from returning.
Great "mild" Thai food. Seafood is great, Masaman is a favorite. Pineapple curry is good too. Love the curry flavors and Thai noodles too!!
We ordered a curry dish and a ginger stir fried. The chicken was way overcooked. It was more chewer than beef jerky. The service was beyond horrible. Anytime we asked for something, it seemed like we bothered them. We had three Asian females brought us food. They all were very unpleasant and irritated. The food flavor was very decent. We would not recommend this place or come back again.
Great spot for Thai. Lots of parking in the area, and although usually busy, you can get a table easy. Food is always good.
The place is very clean and the service excellent. Appetizers Thai spring rolls and fried tofu excellent. Red Curry with beef and with Panang Curry with chicken over-the-top delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here on Sunday evening 9 June 2024.
I’ve been coming here consistently for two years and the food never disappoints. My must haves: papaya salad, green curry, black pepper and garlic stir fry and mango sticky rice. The staff is kind, helpful and accommodating. LOVE YOU COCONUT THAI!!!!
Food is decent but not as authentic as I prefer. Service was relatively fast considering the weekend dinner rush.
We were a bit thrown off when our server looked us up and down, and asked if we were “really going to eat all that?” while placing our main order. It was our first time and we were interested in trying a number of dishes. Didn’t know it was a problem for smaller people to eat a lot. We’ll probably only do takeout moving forward so we can enjoy all our food without feeling judged…
Probably my current favorite restaurant hands down! I've been to this restaurant many times and have always had a wonderful experience. The waiters have always been kind, the food is always phenomenal, and I absolutely love the presentation as well! I will continue going here.
Great Asian food with excellent selections
Great vegan and vegetarian options!! Great food and great service!!
Although the restaurant is located in the whitest community in the area, the food did not disappoint at all. When we asked for the max spice level they did not hold back. 10/10.
Editing this review after visiting a few more times. When they get the orders correct, the food is great. But I'd say more than half the time, they mess something up with the order. They have been particularly bad with proteins - we're vegan and order tofu dishes, and two of the last three times we've gone here we've received meat instead. Strongly recommend checking every single dish before leaving the restaurant if you ordered takeout, because I've reached the point where I'm surprised if they get it correct.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the twin cities and I highly recommend you try the Paneng Curry.
I must admit that my experience with the service was horrible. My friend and I entered and left the restaurant without a single greeting, which was rather disappointing. Throughout our meal, there was no check-in from the staff to see if everything was satisfactory, and we had to continuously flag down someone just to get water refills. My friend wasn't pleased with her dish and requested a swap for the green curry. However, instead of accommodating the request smoothly, our waiter charged us for both meals after discarding the initial one. It was a frustrating and unnecessary inconvenience. I would recommend opting for takeout instead.
We got the spring rolls and 2 curries. Love, love, loved it all.
Amazing food! I got the fried rice curry dish. Delicious!
The food is good, but the service is the worst I’ve ever experienced.
Ordered many items. Over an hour to wait for pick-up but everything was very good.
Tasty Food
A haiku for my favorite Thai spot:
Spicy curries flow,
Coconut milk, a warm embrace,
Minnesota yum.
Expect to wait 30 minutes before being acknowledged.. terrible service
We had takeout. Basic chicken pad Thai, shrimp Basil Fried rice and a shrimp spring roll. Issues with all of the items unfortunately. Good portion size BUT Chicken was super dry. The fried rice had bagged peas and carrots. I recall a much better variety of veggies in the past. The spring rolls had a huge amount of lettuce, very limited vermicelli and herbs and the sauce lacked flavor. Sadly disappointed in our local restaurant. It’s okay to reduce portions and amp up the quality/care.
Very clean place, generous portions, fair price. Limited parking.
Great food and good prices considering the 50th and France corner area. We've ordered several times and have never been disappointed.
Just absolutely meh. Very bland food. Low cost, low effort ingredients (veggie stir fry was 60% celery, drunken noodles had no kidding an uncut quarter of a green bell pepper). Such a convenient location, I wish it was better.
Bland maybe good for some people and some types of restaurants, but never for a Thai restaurant.
We went there to celebrate my birthday last night. I'm still not sure who was our server since every time there was a different person coming up (also gratitude was automatically added to the bill). Starters and curry were eatable, I wouldn't reorder the soup or pad thai though. Dreadful atmosphere and sadly not that great experience overall.
Not properly staffed for the size and order volume of the restaurant. Hire more people.
Food was really good but the service was terrible!!!!
You got man at the reception desk seemed annoyed that we asked for a booth that he had to clean. Did not speak or show any emotion as he presented the menus. Ordered and food came out before beverages. I asked to switch the entree for take out. The booth next to me had to ask for silverware, soup spoons, Condiments etc. The service seemed very down and inattentive today. The to go order had no utensils or condiments. Very poor service. Chicken pad thai had very dry chicken.
Favorite restaurant, hands down! We come here every time we want to eat out, nothing else compares. For the price, the taste and quality of the food is great!
Absolutely LOVE this place! Drunken noodles, pad Thai, curry, the soups everything is amazing!
We always love the food here and are regulars. Best Thai in the Minneapolis area and also a great value.
Great food, service and atmosphere!
Perfect! Delicious food, excellent service, my favorite go to place for Thai
This place is not authentic thai. Every dish is diluted with lot of broth and coconut milk. If you like it spicy please mention it elsewhere you will end up getting a very bland dish. If you are spoiled by flavors of Big Bowl ( their curries are excellent and fresh) and Thai Table, this place will disappoint you big time.
Food was absolutely amazing. Had dinner prior to a concert. Service was average to slow...always felt like good intent with the service....just busy. Did I mention the food was incredible. Likely a medalist in my Thai restaurant rankings. I look forward to returning in the future.
Very loud restaurant, hard to talk and hear. Service was good but a little slow. All the meals in my party were well received and my one minor complaint was the shrimp in the pad thai still had their tails. But overall the dish was really good. 5 entrees, 2 apps, 1 dessert, and 3 drinks came to only about $150 including the 18% gratuity on parties of 5 or more which I thought was pretty good for that area. Good, close parking options too.
Tried carryout Thai Panang Curry and really enjoyed it! Was wondering if the spiciness scale was 'Thai spicy' (it is) medium has quite a kick.
Delicious food. Many vegan and vegetarian options.
Everything served was delicious. Environment was pretty, though a little on the crowded side. Service was simple, but quick. Only complaint is the Thai tea was too good, suits better as a dessert!
Food is ok. The service is super slow and rude.
Our favorite Thai place in the cities. The massaman curry is amazing
A new go to restaurant for me. Love the food. Service is good. Plenty of parking nearby. Highly recommend.
The drunken noodles were the best thing we tried, but everything was really good.
The food was great but the waitress was extremely rude. My girlfriend and I come there every week because she loves the food there. However, today the server treated us really bad. She took the order wrong and then instead of coming to the table and ask us about the problem and what she could do, she came front of me and said: ”You did ordered the Beef salad” and put the attitude on us. I didn’t touch the Beef salad didn’t mind paying for the Beef salad but all we need is an apologizing from her. If you don’t know how to respect your customers, don’t be a server.
I'm not sure if they were having an off night, but the service was very slow. 25 min before we even got water, and another 20 min before someone came to get our order. Food did come out fairly quick after that.
Used to love this place a lots. We’re Coconut Thai’s loyal customer but I don’t think we would come back again. Foods are great. However, my server was very rude. My sister ordered beef Lab salad, but it ended up with beef salad on my table. We were very clear that we wanted Beef Lab less salty and extra limes. But the server came to my table with no apology, talked rudely and blamed everything on us. We would happy to take that salad if she politely apologized us. But all we got was a very rude attitude. Such a big disappointment!
Love the pad thai!
We used to go here a lot a couple years ago and we really liked it but we moved. My wife just spent 90$ tonight well she was in town and the food isn’t even recognizable from what it used to be.
My fried rice was so bland basically white rice with the cheapest plainest chicken.
The Thai Chicken wings are just plain with what tasted like bottled Walmart sweet and sour sauce.
Really disappointed in the trend of places completely caving after having a successful launch and begin cheaping out on the ingredients and riding on the name.
Very busy place. Try to make reservations or do pickup great food no bar they do wine
No Smile while taking orders. No questions about customization of order. We literally got rice and vegetables with no salt and spice for Thai fried rice.
Not asking how the food was . No refill on waters.. beverages not served whatever we ordered. Very bad.
Americanized Thai food. Panng curry is well balanced with sweetness and creaminess. Papaya salad too salty and not sour enough. Tom yum soup too salty and not enough acidity and aromatics. Drunken noodles was good if slightly salty.
The food was good, and our server was pleasant. It appeared that more people ordered ahead to pick up their food for take-out than people who actually come to the restaurant to sit to eat. I watched 15 to 25 people come and pick up their orders during the half hour it took to get our food. I would guess that's just a sign of the times.
Relatively new place in the new open mall area at 50th and France. I had to go up to 4 as it definitely wasn't a 3. Will go again and make a final decision.
Food was good. The fresh and fried Thai spring rolls were good. I would ask to have the sweet, lighter peanut sauce they serve for fried rolls next time. The fresh rolls are more a dark peanut sauce.
I went a little off script and got the young ginger stir fry, as I wanted something a bit lighter. It was good, met the expectation of lighter sauce, lots of veggies, decent number of shrimp. The yellow curry was good, but more Indian in style than Thai. Next time I would try the Penang or green curry I think.
Limit beer options, but a decent number of wine options.
Service was a bit slow. I suspect they are still working out as they are fairly new.
Parking garages around so parking not much of an issue.
Worth a try and there places around to meet and have a drink before dinner if you are waiting 😉
Had chicken pad thai and it was delicious, large portion, fresh veggies.
Pros:
A nice place with abundant sunlight during the day
Cons:
1. All except one curries are made with shrimp sauce and can't be made vegetarian
2. A few dishes can be bland. One has to add salt, pepper and chilly flakes themselves
3. Poor service, we got our entrees and had to ask for the complimentary rice and spices
4. Very limited parking nearby
Great food and service as always.
We had 2 or 3 people helping us it seemed. They work as a great team. Loved my curry! My husband was disappointed in his story get but I liked the bite I tried. I think it had too many vegetables for him! 😆
Amazing food! Very quick.
Very pleasant experience here, mainly the food! The curry fried rice is a huge dish and you can probably split it with someone (plus an app, unless you’re both starving). We loved the flavors and presentation. Very enjoyable meal. Service was good, food served quick, parking ramps close by, and the neighborhood is lovely.
The food was awesome! Service was great and the atmosphere was plesant!
For the longest time I was avoiding this place as it seemed from their website that they didn’t have too many vegan/vegetarian options. But went ahead with a group of coworkers sometime back. Their stir fry and fried rice can all be made vegan upon request in addition to some appetizers. Service was quick, prices were reasonable and portion size was big. I would definitely go again.
10/10 for the food. I’ve always loved their food. Excellent taste and quality. Very vegan-friendly as well.
1 star for the service. Our waitress was visibly annoyed by our existence, and I have my theories but I’ll stick to the facts:
She gave an attitude when I added appetizers to our order. She kept trying to take the menu and I kept telling her that I had more to order. She was visibly annoyed by this. I asked for a certain spice level and she was annoyed by this. I asked for chili oil, chopsticks, extra napkins, straws, and plum or sweet and sour sauce for the veggie rolls and curry puffs and she darn near had a fit. Mind you, by that time we realized she had a problem so we asked for a few things at a time, but that didn’t help.
Oh, and when I asked for the Thai Fried Rolls (or whatever the name is on the menu) she was like “what is that?” I pointed to the menu and she said, “Oh, egg rolls. They’re egg rolls.” Miss ma’am the menu doesn’t call them that so how are we to know that you call them something else??
My friend asked about the spice level for her Sriracha Fried Rice and the waitress got annoyed, saying it’s already spicy. Completely ignoring the request to adjust the spice level (which can be done on rice and curry dishes).
Lastly, no checking on us to see if we needed anything. No refilling of our empty water glasses. I specifically waited an hour to see if she’d notice my empty water glass. She didn’t. It wasn’t until she audibly heard my slurping of the empty glass that she brought water. Mind you, the table of Caucasian women behind us kept getting refills.
I was fed up and told her that she seemed annoyed. She denied and gave me the most lame excuse, “No, but you keep asking for things and… Well, but it’s not that busy right now.” Poppycock. Her attitude commenced when we walked in. (And we were there on business, working with our laptop too. So it’s not like we were a loud, rambunctious party of two.)
I still tipped her, though she didn’t deserve it.
I love their food, so I will no doubt order again, but carryout only henceforth.
This is a must stop if you have not tried this place already. Amazing food with fresh ingredients !!
I went to this place today and I must say I will never be back again. This place used to have good customer service but our server was just plain rude to us. Their menu states that they have vegan and vegetarian options but when I ask if the fried egg rolls were cooked in the same oil as the meat dishes. The server simply said they fried all their fried foods in the same oil (non meat, vegetable). So why adv that u have vegan and vegetarian dishes then?? Make it make sense.
Anyways. This place also feels like they cater to certain groups of people (EDINA!!)
I got the mock duck drunken noodles and tofu soup plus Thai tea for drinks.
I like the one in grand way better.
Also train ur servers better plz. And provide better options for people who eat kosher/vegan
Very good
I've eaten here twice while traveling in the twin cities. Our food was excellent both times, with generous portions. Many gluten-free and vegetarian options. Bonus feature is the free parking ramp next door.
So delicious and great portions! I had the squash curry. I will be going back for sure
Best Thai Food that I have had in a very long time. I wish we lived closer ...we would be there every week.
I absolutely love the food here! It is my go to place to meet friends and co-workers for lunch or dinner.
The Calamari is fantastic! Lightly battered with a wonderful plum sauce. The Satay's are also very good with a slight curry flavoring and they come with a good peanut sauce and a vinegar style sauce with cucumber. Yum!
My favorite entree's are the Green or Red curry's. You truly cannot go wrong with either choice and you can select what level heat you want them to be. Even mild is super flavorful.
I have also enjoyed their Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle, and Pad SeeEw. I would recommend eating this at the restaurant else the noodles suck up the sauce and it can be dry by time you get it home. I typically ask for extra sauce on the side for this reason when doing takeout.
Overall, it's excellent food served by nice people in a clean and bright establishment. Highly recommend.
Pictured are: My Green Curry with beef, sans eggplant, Garlic and Black Pepper dish with beef, and Panang Chicken Curry
Went to the restaurant on July 1st. Food was quite good but customer service was one of the worst that we have experienced in a long time. Please teach your employees to understand the words " customer service". I will try this restaurant one more time to see if the service improved....
Food is always so good here. Huge portions. Great for gluten-free.
Very tasty sauces!
Recently tried a Thai restaurant and the food did not disappoint! I opted for the Pineapple Fried Rice with Beef, which came in a generous portion and tasted great. The beef could have been more tender, but the combination of nuts, especially cashews, elevated the flavors of the dish. As for drinks, I tried the Thai Coffee, which was a bit too sweet for my liking. Next time, I’ll stick to the classic Thai Ice Tea.
The restaurant space was spacious and had an elegant ambiance, making it perfect for large gatherings with family or friends, as well as for romantic dates.
The service was friendly, although they seemed to be understaffed during our visit, resulting in a delay in processing our payment. It’s worth noting that an 18% tip was automatically added to the bill, with an option for additional tips, so be sure to check and read the bill carefully.
The food here is always fresh, flavorful and delicious. My only complaint is that they always cut their chicken with the grain, which makes it stringy and tough. If they cut it against the grain, it would be food perfection.
