Family-owned Thai restaurant in Cottage Grove and Roseville, MN. The restaurant lures locals with a popular Thai menu & lunch specials in a cheerful setting.
Cute little restaurant. Has about 4 tables inside. I would assume most is take out. That's what I saw when I was there. I ordered pork dumplings, and they fried them. I would prefer them steemed only. They were ok. Got the vegetable fried rice very, very good, and fresh. Lastly, I got the chicken satay a little dry, I made these with dark meat, they used white, could be why it tasted a little dry. Seasoning and peanut sauce was good. Service was OK, didn't give me napkins utensils, or even asked if I needed them. Price was good all 3 items were very sharable 2 to 3 people paid $27.00.
1. Spring roll: It was quite messy. The balance of noodles, vegetables, and protein was off, and the flavor leaned heavily towards carrots.
Vegetable Egg-roll: I was really let down. There were barely two strands of glass noodles, and the filling was mushy, resembling frozen vegetables. A deep-fried dish shouldn't be this disappointing.
Pho Beef: The broth had a flavor that was quite different from what I expected, and it wasn't to my liking. The bean sprouts were old, and the lime was dried out. The noodles had a good texture, and while the meat was tender, the portion was small. I wasn't a fan of the meatball, as it had bits of cartilage or bone that surprised me when I bit into it.
Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles): I was really disappointed. I had been craving drunken noodles, which is why I chose this restaurant. I didn't want to drive 20-30 minutes to Saint Paul, so I thought I'd give this place a shot. What a mistake! Everything tasted steamed, the vegetables were overcooked, and the noodles were bland. It felt like too much water was used in cooking, which washed out the flavors.
I tried this place but will definitely take the extra 20-30 minutes to get decent Thai food. For a suburban area, it’s better than nothing.
Pineapple fried rice, added chicken.
Went in and the place was very quiet (around 2 pm). Ordered and got my food within 5 minutes. Left a generous tip as I love supporting quality small mom and pop places. Food was incredible. Would recommend this place to anyone!
Lisu's Thai Taste is a fantastic restaurant with some amazingly tasty food that is quite unique compared to anything else Cottage Grove has to offer. I have had take out from here quite a few times now, and each time my friends and family have loved anything and everything I order from here. My favorite so far has been the peanut based curries they offer. The egg rolls are awesome and unique in that there are not greasy like most others I've had.
Update 1/9/2025
I have been ordering here for four years . I previously had left a 5 star review .
Today, I ordered my usual tofu pad Thai online. I requested 1 out of 5 star spicy like I have for years.
For some reason, whoever cooked today decided to put a TON of red chili flakes all over the food.
I called when I got home and realized … I asked if maybe there was an issue with the notes in the online order??
Whoever answered the phone said “well you said one star. This is Thai food. Thai food is spicy.”
It was said in the most condescending manner and he spoke to me like I was a complete idiot.
He did offer to remake it. I said yes but can it not have so much hot stuff? And he replied “ok so NO SPICE??? You have to order with no spice then.” Again, as if I was dumber than a box of rocks.
I then drove up there and just asked for my money back. I offered several times to bring the incorrect item back- he kept saying “no I trust you.”
Ok so you trust me that the food was made wrong and someone made a mistake, but I’m apparently too stupid to know that “Thai food is spicy”?
I have never been more insulted by a restaurant in my life.
I have been ordering here at least once a week for almost four years. I was a loyal customer and told many, many people to check this place out.
I guess maybe since I didn’t spend a ton of money each time, my business wasn’t wanted or appreciated.
I don’t know how or why they felt the need to talk to me like I was stupid. I have been eating Thai food since I was a kid, and I’ve always ordered 1 star and never once had it COVERED in chili flakes.
I am so disappointed and won’t ever be going back.
I would caution anyone who wants to eat here that you should expect them to talk to you like you’re dumb if they make a mistake.

I had previously lived in the south suburbs and was greatly missing my favorite Thai food place. It was very hard for me to find a local restaurant in my new city, and I stumbled upon this place while getting my hair cut one day. I could smell the fragrant food a couple of units down. With my mouth watering, I followed the scent down the strip mall and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, smiling woman. I love the fact that they have pictures on the wall of what the food looks like. Larger menus, which comes in handy when you forget your readers. I had a few simple questions about the menu, and the nice woman behind the counter answered every question happily. I ended up ordering the lunch size tofu Pad Thai. I was absolutely blown away.
Really really yummy food! Fresh and tasty. We ordered pork eggrolls, drunken noodles and cream cheese wontons. The cream cheese wontons were my absolute favorite with the sweet red dipping sauce. The drunken noodles were thick and sweet and salty. We got it with chicken and you can tell the chicken was real meat.. The pork eggrolls were my least favorite. Although the insides were tasty, I didn't like the wrapper. It's not a traditional crispy egg roll wrapper, but it seems like a spring roll wrapper. It was dry and chewy.. Overall very happy and satisfied. The lady who took my order over the phone was very nice.
Giving this a 1 because there was nothing less to give. We waited 45 mins for our food.... everything was absolutely disgusting! The building inside is absolutely gross, dark and dirty. Too lazy to clean, replace toilet or paper towels, or even replace burnt out lightbulbs. The bathroom was horrendous, feces on the door, grime and dirt all over, no effort to clean whatsoever. They even were too cheap to change the hand soap and just refilled it with water. Gross. The hallway to the bathrooms was a death trap of boxes and storage. Quite honestly not sure how this place would ever pass a health inspection. The food was gross and the white rice was probably the only palatable thing we ate. We really regretted our decision of coming here for the 1st time and will NEVER come back. Absolutely gross.
All I ever get is the Vegi Pho Noodle Soup, which is the BEST!! Also, I don't walk well, and they are kind enough to bring my order out to my car!!!
There pho is my go too
All I ever get is the Vegi Pho Noodle Soup, which is the BEST!! Also, I don't walk well, and they are kind enough to bring my order out to my car!!!
The food used to be SO much better. They changed ingredients or cooks. Just not the same. However the food is still good and staff is always very friendly. They really don’t do anything seated inside anymore. However take out is fine.

Green curry was great, get a 1 or 2 for spice level if your Minnesotan like me 😉 great service.

$35.00 lunch for 2 bowls of rice! I got ripped off.
Wanted to try them, but when I walked in, the woman said something went through he curtains and didn't come back out. Some guy walked into the area looked at me, then went and sat in a room with the door opened. Never took my order. I guess they don't need the money... Stood there for about 5 minutes. I was the only person there. I'll take the ride across town in the future.
Food was excellent. Fresh, fast and savory Thai entrees. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. Small dining area. Only canned beverages - no brewed Thai tea. Very busy take out service. Go for the food and friendly service, not the atmosphere.
COTTAGE GROVE exit 19, BEST THAI FOOD. TAKE OUT OR EAT IN. One of the best places I've been to for Beef egg rolls & Tom Yum soup.
Great lunch, tasty and large portions.
Their food is always delicious.
Great food, good quantities! Will definitely be back!
Never fails to be delicious! Such a great asset to CG. Their curries, the pineapple fried rice, basil fried rice, drunken noodles, papaya salad. A little spice in life is good!
This little gem is awesome! The person at the register was super friendly and helpful. The food was great, and the wait was almost nothing. This is my new favorite Thai restaurant.
Cottage Grove Lisu's is so good! Hot and fresh and the best service. Generous portions and really great flavor. It is our favorite take-out!
Just got back from Thailand last week and am already craving Thai food. I figured I would try this place out since it's close to where I live. I got the Pad Thai with Shrimp and inhaled it! Great flavor! I'll be back to try the Khao Soi next time!

SEE NEWEST REVIEW BELOW (Jan 2024)
May 2023 - Thought we would give them a try, again. Large family order (several different items) - food was average, at best. This establishment had great food when they initially opened in Cottage Grove. Things have changed in recent years - NOT great anymore, just average. 3 stars (being generous)
Jan 2024 - Tried again, as we like to support local businesses. Cream cheese wontons were okay. Spicy chicken wings were fried way too long, dry and hard as a rock (inedible). Beef and broccoli and what was supposed to be sesame chicken had no flavor what so ever, vegetables were soggy and tasteless - frozen crap from grocery store would have been better. I will not return. 1 star (being generous again).
Feels like take out place.
Eat here often, they can make it really spicy if you’re tired of MN flavorlessness. Favorites are their Cream Cheese Wontons, Spring rolls, Pineapple Fried rice, and Kung Pao Chicken.
The veggies are extra crisp and fresh, they source really good ingredients. They put the spring in spring rolls. If you get it 5/5 spicy there’s still an immense flavor bouquet in the dish and it’s not a one-note heat.
The staff and service has always been pleasant, they’re great people.
Highly recommended.
The basil fried rice is awesome and so are their spring rolls. I think the funniest thing is when you order, the response is “you can come right now!” Lols, yes prime now please…. Small location with a lot of heart and delicious food and extremely convenient and fast. I would highly recommend it. I have never dined in so I can’t say too much about the atmosphere.
Chicken fried rice and cream cheese puffs should not cost 19 bucks. Honestly feel riped off cause the rice was was just greasy as ever and the puffs were smaller than I've ever seen at any place that serve them. Save your money.
Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice is amazing
Amazing service with friendly staff. Food was amazing. Got the pork pad Thai, shrimp salad, and cream cheese wontons. Tasty as heck.
This is my FAVORITE place to get Thai! I order the red curry with just the veggies, veggie fried rice, and their wontons…. It’s chefs kiss!! My husband and I love to get our food to go, and they are always very quick with their turnaround times.
Hole in the wall shop that has decent enough thia food. Not overly expensive and gets the job done.
Good strip mall Thai. They ask how spicy, so both hubby and I had a good meal.
More of a take to go restaurant. The curried mock duck up was excellent. Service was fast
Love this place great food great staff
First time there ,food was really good will be going back
Quick place for take out. Consistently quality experience
Good egg drop soup
First time finding out this place after shopping for clothes in the CG area. Went around 12pm, so it wasn't busy. We were planning to dine in, but there's no AC so we decided to do take out instead. We ordered Beef green curry, Chicken red curry, and beef salad. It was delicious! Definitely recommend the beef salad with no spice! Curries will be curries with a different take, but it wasn't bad. I don't expect anything top tier because to me, this place is like a fast food restaurant. They make the food fresh from cooking, but the wait wasn't bad either since me and my husband came on slow day. And we knew what we wanted. Give this place a try if you ever wanna get something quick to go. Our first time and it wasn't bad. Not sure about their other food menus, but we definitely liked what we ordered 😊
We always have good food at Lisu's.
Best Thai place in Cottage Grove by far.
Indulge in the Grove's finest culinary delights at this exceptional eatery. In my opinion, it offers the best food around.
Don't forget to try their spice scale, ranging from 1 to 5, for a personalized heat experience.
My partner and I have been crossing off their take-home menu item by item, and there are very few dishes we didn't enjoy.
I highly recommend the #56 KHAO SOI NOODLE—it's a must-try!
Phenomenal, everytime I go here I am satisfied, Me and my friends keep coming back cause its that good.
Great chicken pad thai-!! 👍
Tasty food, kind people. Recognized our daughter was very hungry and handed her a fortune cookie before we had finished ordering. Pleased to have found a little independent spot for a quick and tasty masamun!
Pineapple fried rice was delicious.
If you want a side of spicy sauce, ask for their homemade chili oil. Best spicy chili oil! Can't wait to try their Pad thai noodles and curry dishes.
Stay clear of the pork eggrolls. Missing the noodles...not sure how that can happen.... frozen knock off? These are not true Thai eggrolls
SOOO GOOOOOD!!!
The food is delicious and cheap, the service is great, the atmosphere is decent. It’s pretty busy with pick up orders, but we were the only ones that sat down to eat. If you want extra egg in your fried rice, ask for two extra eggs.
Food is soo soo good here!! Pineapple chicken rice and wonton soup are my favorites!
Any of their Curry dishes fabulous, pad Thai amazing, thin kA soup brilliant. Best Thai food in MN. This place is fast, delicious, and who cares what the inside looks like the food is amazing and well priced.
I love Lisu's delicious food and everyone is very nice. It is also so close to home.
We have gotten take from here several times now. Friendly service. Really good food each time.
I had the red curry. Nicely spicy. My wife gets the Pad Thai. She is always happy.
We've been back. We'll be back.
My husband and I tried this place for the first time and the dishes were delicious! Thank you for the awesome dinner!
This place is amazing!
Online order was simple. ordered General Tso and a Szechuan chicken, both were totally flavorless. Asked for extra spicy on the general chicken, there was zero flavor and no spice. Overall very bland, chicken was soft and mushy. Won’t return.
Foo
Surprisingly the Basil Mussel meat had a nice aroma and flavor, also fresh.
We ordered the pork egg rolls, red curry, basil fried rice and drunken noodles with shrimp. Our tastebuds were dancing! It was so good! We are so happy to have an awesome place like this right in cottage grove!
We had the kindest, friendliest service in the world. The food was fast, fresh, and delicious! The green curry was amazing! Will definitely eat there again.
A nice quiet restaurant with great food and nice staff.
Quality is not as good as the main Lisu’s in Roseville. I don’t know when they changed cooks but it’s not the quality it was, or the same as Roseville. They’ve also cut the amount in half of the curry dishes. Used to be in a quart container. Now served in the rectangle containers. I put what I got into one of their old quart containers and it was half. For the same price. The curry dish also didn’t taste the way it should. They do have good cream cheese wontons (not Thai but they’re good) but again, you get half of the sweet and sour so you have to ask for double, and again the cook isn’t making the sauce right. 2 stars for their wontons.
Been eating here for almost three years.Food is absolutely delicious. We are vegetarian family and not once I have found any meat in our food.
Quality is good and service is fast as well.
Good service and very flavorful food.
At least what I got.
I come here regularly and it is always worth it.
Simply amazing Thai food!
Overall pretty good especially since there isn’t much to eat and i would never expect Thai to survive in CG. But stick with their Thai dishes. The sweet and sour pork is possibly their worst item and really and insult to other sweet and sour dishes out there. It needs to be detailed on their menu that it is stir fried meat in s&w sauce and not deep fried like most would expect and a Chinese restaurant. Also it had very little meat. :(
Beef and broccoli was delicious!
Great food, fast, super nice customer service. Been here a bunch, and never disappoints.
Always 5 stars. Love the green curry, and fresh spring rolls.
Always amazing food and great service. Best Thai place around.
Highly recommend giving this place a try, spring rolls are amazing. Menu does offer a good selection of spicy foods, but I thought they were very mild, still tasted good though
Best food in town! We visit often for a reason!
The food was extremely tasty. It was a delightful surprise that the food was such high quality in a very low key location. We eat Thai often, this food is top notch. Try it, you'll be delighted too. Husband had pad Thia, I had beef lettuce wrap and we shared the spring rolls. Exceeded our expectations.
No seasoning ordered a large combination house special felt like a small and didn't have much flavor or meat!! Disappointed
Best Thai food in the Cottage Grove/Woodbury area! You know it's going to be good when they have pictures of the food on the wall. Had green curry and pad thai lunch specials, tasted amazing.
Always great food, fish curry is incredible
Its a cool little location and reasonably-priced but as far as flavor goes... it's just not there.
Lisu's Thai Taste Restaurant is the best Thai restaurant for miles. It's in Cottage Grove, which is significantly smaller than Woodbury, yet it is better than anything Woodbury has to offer. I have tried about 10 different things on the menu so far and my favorites are the Pho soup, the spring rolls, the chicken satay, and the Thai pork lettuce wraps. The staff recognizes us now, since we've been there so much. There are lots of new housing developments in Cottage Grove, so I can only imagine there will soon be more businesses and restaurants to come. Thank you, Lisu's Thai Taste Restaurant, for providing food made with flavor and love!
I love Thai food and have tasted all varieties from traditional to modern/fusion. This is definitely moreso on the traditional side. Not anything special when you come in. Very unassuming. But the food is incredible - bursting with delicious flavours. We ordered over $100 in food and I would say all of the dishes were unbelievable with the exception of the pot stickers which don't seem to travel well for take out (they get dry and hard quickly). Thoroughly impressed and the next time I'm in the MSP area, this will be on my radar.
Really fresh tasty food. Fried rice was very good. Will be back
Excellent curry! That's all I've eaten there but it's good enough I keep coming back. Super nice lady there too!
Meh, okay. High priced. My daughter is a fan of the Basil Fried Rice.
The service was absolutely entertaining. The banter that we had with the woman who was at the counter had us laughing for hours after we left. On a side note we really enjoyed the quality of the food as well.
My favorite place. I drive an hour and a half to get my curry and spring roll fix!
The google website showed different prices on their food and they charged my card more then what I was expecting. I called the restaurant and they said the price is wrong and I will charge you my new price and not my fault .I said that is false advertisement on your end…All he kept saying I will charge you new price and no credit back the difference. I will never return to this place.
Great food wonderful attentive staff!!
It was all wonderful. Small place good service, good prices. Curry was very good robust flavor with rice.
We really regretted our decision of coming here for the 1st time and will NEVER come back. Absolutely gross.
Definitely the best restaurant in Cottage Grove and my favorite place to eat. Their wontons are the best I’ve had and the food is always consistently so so good.
The pineapple curry is the best thing ive ever tasted
I am obsessed with their beef drunken noodles and wontons! Great flavor
Great Thai food, always friendly service.
Pad Thai and egg rolls are my favorites but everything I've tried has been delicious. Lunch specials are a good value, but they limit your choices of meat in at least some cases.
Since this was close we decided we try to see if we could find a hidden gem in cottage grove. We went there with low expectation. Our low expectation was met and no hidden gem. We order over the phone not seeing any photo of dishes and we knew what we were getting ourselves into.
Services was like any other pandemic place. One worker and our food was ready when we got there to pick up.
Food was sub par to what I would consider Thai food. They have a Thai menu and American chinese menu.
We order pork egg rolls, spring rolls, beef drunken noodles, chicken pad thai and steak salad wrap.
Steak Salad wrap was no steak. It was ground beef and I believe it was supposed to be laarb dish, but who knows since they called in steak lettece wrap. It was just ground beef with what looks to be cilantro and green onion a little bit season. I give this dish a 1 out of 5
Egg rolls was not crispy but the filling was ok. Not sure if they use spring roll wrap or what kind of wrap but it look soggy. If they use better wraps it would have been better.
I give egg rolls 2 out of 5.
Spring rolls was ok. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Lettece looks like it was from precut lettece bag. I give this 3.5 out of 5
Chicken pad thai..... I have never had a good padthai dish in minnesota so this was the same. Noodles was smaller rice noodles and taste was sub par. Best part of dish was crush peanuts. I give this a 2 out of 5.
Beef Drunken noodles was prolly the best dish we got. Taste like drunken noodle and beef was ok. I'll give this a 3.5 maybe 4 out of 5 cause this was really the only dish we finish.
Conclusion:
This is my first time there and base off of what I order. I might go try the Pho one day and some other dish and make another review. Well I think its Pho. There menu say rice noodle and photo looks like pho.
If you go with expectations that it's great authentic Thai food you will be disappointed. It's place to order from when you are too lazy to drive to St. Paul or Minneapolis to get southeast asian food.
Haha this is my first experience having to bag my own food for pick up. Nice customer service.
It was ready fast and soooo scrumptious... I cant wait to explore more of the menu!
My wife and I order from here quite often! SO good and not too pricey!!
So good!
Best pad thai ever!!! Literally. It's perfect. I also asked them in the special instructions to make it spicy and they did not disappoint!! Amazing service, will be a loyal customer moving forward.
First time I've ordered here. I bought Pad Pak Ruan, Green Curry and Pineapple Fried Rice. I've eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants especially in various places in the NE. This is one, if not the best, place I've ever gotten. Very authentic and fresh veggies.
Decent Thai food. Quick service. Online ordering is super easy.
Food was mediocre, but what bothered me was the portion size. The entire $10 chicken order fit in the small rice container the food came with. For 10+ bucks a pop, I expected the usual amount received at other restaurants.
Very disappointed in the customer service. I was given the wrong order even though my order was confirmed twice by 2 different employee's. I returned the order and was told they did not have my order. By that time I had already waited 45+ minutes. No apology was offered.
Best kung pao
Excellent food! Just be patient, because they have a lot of customers ordering and it can take a while.
Try the fish curry--it's so yummy:)
Great food
Great food perfectly prepared. Service is prompt and anyone working the counter is pleasant and helpful.
Love it!
Probably the most authentic Thai food you can get here in the Twin Cities that's not always located in MPLS. They have the best Basil Fried rice & Pad Thai, and if you haven't tried their different varieties of curies, do it. Super affordable and portion is great. I love this place.
Tom Ka Gye is the bomb.
This was our first time ordering from Lisu's Thai Taste and might be the last. First off, the estimated wait time wad 15 minutes but it took about an hour for our order to be ready so I sat in the uncomfortable chairs for about 45 minutes. Next up, the condiments were sitting out in communal bins for anyone to touch and cough on so I had to go without duck sauce or soy sauce. After all of that we sat down at home to eat only to find that the food was a very mixed bag of quality from edible to pretty bad. The sesame chicken wasn't bad nor was the lo mein. The lettuce wraps however were the worst I have ever experienced. They were basically finely chopped chicken with some lemon grass and it looked like dog food sitting in a puddle with soggy lettuce. It didn't taste much better than it looked and the finely diced chicken was a horrible texture. When I order 4 entrees for $60 I expect it to be at least decent but this was not even that. I really was hoping for much better after reading other reviews but unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. We are still looking for a decent, genuine Thai or Chinese restaurant close by to order take out from but for now we will have to stick to other ethnic cuisine. If you want fairly edible overpriced Thai food then this is the place for you. If you are looking for good Thai tastes then I suggest looking elsewhere.
Ordered pho and a few others and they were all pretty fantastic especially for food in cottage grove
We only got this because it was conveniently located when we were returning home from St. Croix Bluffs Park. SO GLAD WE TRIED IT! We have been to Thailand and really like GOOD Thai - and this is it! the Pad Thai was awesome, as was the Pad See Ew, egg rolls and the red curry, too. We will actually be going out of our way to get food here! Highly recommend.
Disappointed, especially considering the other great reviews online. Ordered two vegetarian dishes and they hardly had any vegetables. Lo mein and red curry lacked flavor or depth. We won't be going again.
Deeeeelish! & the waitress was incredibly kind!
Excellent Thai/Chinese cuisine.
Love the Curry! Fresh ingredients. Spring rolls too! It is great to have your delicious Thai food in the area. Thank you!
I got the spring rolls, chicken satay, and curry fried rice. All were delicious. I'd definitely come back. My friend had some of the curry fried rice and she rated it 8.5 out of 10 which was kinda surprisingly a high score.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Food is always fantastic and ready within 20 minutes. The egg rolls are my favorite. So appreciative this restaurant opened in Cottage Grove.
Best food in cottage grove!
I always love their Spring Rolls and Fried Rice....Make sure to try this place! 👍🤗
Little disappointed, came to pick up my order and the cashier came out with no mask on. Then noticed me and put her mask around her neck on. After checking out, the cook from the back comes out, absolutely no mask period. Throwing the food I just purchased out. No thank you. Never again.
Awsome food best Thai in the area!
Pork fried rice was good. Sweet and sour chicken just ok.. I'm a fan of their pad thai and should have stuck with that. I'll be back soon. Nice people
Tried Lisu’s this evening for the 1st time and definitely was worth it. If you’re in the area give it a shot. Sweet Basil Fried Rice with Chicken was awesome!
