Authentic Family-Owned Thai Restaurant
Great soup and staff! We both had colds and wanted to break them with some spicy soup. Please don’t judge that we went in public with colds, spicy soup was the only thing that sounded good. I got the Boat Noodle Soup and hubs got Tom Yum Soup. Both were great! The broth for each of these is made from scratch on the premises. We both agreed Boat Noodle was our favorite though.
This was a cozy, small restaurant to dine in. Service and atmosphere was pretty good. Really enjoyed the Lo Mein (chicken) noodle dish. The sticky rice with mangoes was good, and a nice portion size for the price. Also tried the spicy catfish which was okay. The spice level 4 was not too spicy for us.
We always stop here on our way between st croix falls and the cities. Jay’s is a fantastic find and you don’t want to miss out. We’ve sampled much of the menu. I can’t recall ever bringing home leftovers! Authentic, friendly, fresh - what more could you want? The atmosphere is basic but we couldn’t care less about that. They focus on the food, not the aesthetics. Do yourself a favor and get your Thai fix at Jay’s.
Food was good (solid 8/10). Unfortunately, many items on the menu were written-off as "out" on the menu, or our server had to tell us other items that we wanted were out of ingredients. We had to order our 3rd pick from the menu. Eg. We wanted the papaya salad, but our server said they were out of it. Very disappointing. The company I came with advised this has been the norm for their experiences as well.
Otherwise, the restaurant was very clean and the restaurant was very peaceful. Service was good. Best wishes to this restaurant.
Quiet and simple restaurant in a nondescript strip mall. 6 tables that seat 4 and 1 table that seats 6. Plain atmosphere but that's not why you go. Service was slow to get menus, order taken, and no follow-up after food was delivered. You pay up front on a kiosk with tip line.
Food was very tasty and portion was moderate for price. Would certainly return for takeout.
Update menu prices.
This is one of the best Thai restaurants we’ve been in years. My friends and I went to the Taylor state park and stopped here for lunch. We ordered a few dishes and every single one is meal taste so perfect. Very well cooked, flavourful and all at a reasonable price. We were taken care of by the owner named Jay. So shout out to you Jay for a memorable experience. Check them out guys , cheers
A friend brought me to this place today and it was great! I love the decorations and plants they have and the food was very tasty; they had a very good selection! The waiter was super sweet and he did a great job. Thanks guys!
Delicious food. Ample portions. Friendly service. Decent prices. We love this place.
*edit*
Stopped in and got the boat noodles- not good. Broth was cloudy and had powdered spice floating on top. No fresh bean sprouts or basil. Tasted reheated and no where as good as it used to be. They used to give you an egg roll on the side. Sad.
Very good food.

Had a pleasant lunch
Food was delicious. We had beef in oyster sauce and beef and shrimp pad Thai. And an order of Spring rolls. Very clean. We will definitely be back.

Great service and food. Lots of good bubble teas.
Really well made food that’s authentic!
Boat Noodles were excellent and the Red Curry was fantastic! Recommend getting mid spice!
Moved less than 5 min away from the city and miss having asian food besides Chinese. Very lucky to have this thai restaurant nearby. If your ever in town or just passing by this place is worth the stop. Tried most of the dishes and they are all very good.
Truly delicious food, kind and gracious staff. Would come back again.

Food was tasty but portions are small. On our stir fry dishes the rice literally took up half the plate. Restaurant definitely caters to Midwest tastes. Their fresh spring rolls for example have deep fried pork meatloaf in them.
Meat dried out and hard to chew and quite tasteless. Rice dried out. Will not eat here again. Wasted $40!!!!
We received excellent service and the food was very good. I had the green curry and my husband had the pad se ew. Mild spice was plenty spicy for us.
Hehehee….. just tried a BOAT noodle today !!! Hit the spot !!! Been here few times but this would be my fav dish now
Amazing Thai food with outstanding service! The atmosphere is basic but the food and the service are incredible.
Oh my Thai!!! Excellent pad thai. Curry was fantastic!
Jay's is a great addition to the Chisago area and has the authentic tastes we experienced in Chiang Mai recently. Highly recommend the green and red curries, papaya salad, Tom yum noodle soup, and they have the best pad see ew we have found. Thank you Jay for this amazing place that is close to home for us!

Alittle pricey for me. And food was OK
Sometimes it's hard to order verbally due to some language barriers however it's worth it.
Remarkable good Thai food. Living in Sydney in my life, I know what top-notch Thai food is. Bursting with flavor, well balanced, fresh, and puts a little pep in your step. Jay’s Thai hits the spot. Like many authentic spots, the interior is a bit dull but don’t let that fool you.
We live in the area and have ordered from here multiple times. Our last order was not good. I specifically ordered two chicken pad Thai with Mild spice and the shrimp pad Thai with no spice. The mild spice was not mild, that was Hot! And the shrimp pad Thai we requested to be not hot was mild. I reminded her of the spice levels twice and they still didn’t get it right. I don’t think we will be ordering again. Our kids don’t like spice yet.
Outstanding Thai food! Interior of restaurant was pretty simple, but the place was clean, service was great and the food was phenomenal!
We were in town from the twin cities looking for a place that could accommodate vegetarian, dairy free, and gluten free and decided to give this a try. It surpassed my expectations. It's a small interior with about 7 tables. We arrived around 7pm on a chilly Saturday in April and there were 2 tables occupied when we arrived. The waitress was extremely attentive, our food was prepared very quickly, and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the pad see ew with vegetables at a level 1 heat and it was not too spicy for me, just a nice mild heat that only slightly enhanced the flavor. My companion ordered the pad Thai with chicken at a level 4. I tried one bite and it wasn't overflowing but no way I could've eaten more than a few bites. He enjoyed it but downed both our water glasses more than once and said he'd probably do a 3 next time. There will definitely be a next time. I think this will be a regular place to stop if/when we're looking for dinner in the area.
Excellent food (such a rare find when you get away from the cities imo!) and courteous, quick service. We'll be back :) Highly recommend!
Great food
Shocker, to find really good Thai food in Chisago. I had the green curry, it was a little spicy for me, but maybe next time, I'll request a little less spice. Interior is fairly basic. Service was slow and random, but the food was worth the wait. Next time may order to go.
Food is always so good. The staff and chef are very friendly.
The best thai food and service excellent.
Not overly fancy, but LOVE the Pad Thai!
We happened to dine in with our wild, young children because we were the only ones. Glad they put up with us because this place is a genuine gem. Reminded me of my favorite Thai restaurant in Wisconsin that closed years ago. Authentic, fragrant, exceptionally delicious is how I would describe Jays! Red curry(3 heat) , hoi pad cha(4 heat), spring rolls did not disappoint! The tissues provided are a great touch! We will be back soon!
We most recently tried the Red Curry, Pad See Ew and Thai Fried Rice. 🔥🔥🔥
Once again, Jay's did not disappoint!

I love Thai food and Jay’s Kitchen never disappoints!! I’ve tried many things on the menu but my favorite is the pork belly stir fry #17!
Simple dining in a quiet atmosphere and outstanding delicious food!!! Great service too.
Great restaurant. As good as any Thai food I’ve had in Minneapolis. Recommend the red curry (not too spicy) and the egg rolls.
I got the tofu red curry and it was so good. Thank you!
Chinese fried eggplant was delicious as were the tempura shrimp. I didn’t expect the dumplings to be fried but they were still tasty.
A place to visit for any spice level and a delicious affordable meal.
A mom and pop type place.
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Absolutely amazing!
Great food!
Perfect place for Thai cuisine. We ordered Thai basil rice with tofu, Chicken fried rice & Thai green curry. Everything was perfect with right amount of spice & taste. The attendant was really sweet & friendly. She catered to all our dining needs. Will surely visit this place again.
This place always claps
Everything we ordered tasted fantastic. We will definitely be going there next time we want Thai food.
Reasonably priced and service is very good.
Yummy.
Decent restaurant for the location but the food was pretty average. We ordered papaya salad, pork belly, and chicken/pork stir fry, all were pretty decent but nothing to write home about
So mich food for a great price and super great and fast service
Excellent food.

Food is pretty decent but they are often closed when their hours say they will be open. Half of the time I try to get food here I can't because they closed early. Get yours at least an hour before the posted closing time.
I love this place! The food is always wonderful and sooo fresh.
Everything we've ordered from here has been delicious! So happy to have an authentic Thai restaurant in Chisago City.
So good! The red curry had a slight kick, and the dimensions of flavors were fantastic. The lo mein had nice crisp, fresh vegetables. Of course I had to try egg rolls and the crab rangoon and both were fresh and tasty!
Delicious food nice place good customer service
Its a real Thai street food
I loved this place. I had the papaya salad to go and it was very fresh tasting.
The best pad Thai ! Everything is good, love this place!
Jay's is absolutely fantastic. Best restaurant in the region - as good as any Thai in the city. Authentic, delicious, great menu.
The pad thai was DELICIOUS! Glad they let me choose the spice level- they understand their customers needs. Most authentic food in the area for sure.
Edit: Tried calling to order takeout and absolutely no answer. Actually sent to voicemail. Really disappointed.
This place is amazing. Walked in and it smelled like Thailand — the food is so fresh, flavorful and authentic — a gem to have in Chisago! Got the cream cheese wontons, green curry and pea tips — all for the win!
Food is always so amazing and fresh and kind folks :)
Honestly the best green curry I've ever had.
Amazing family owned Thai restaurant! We finally tried them and I figured there was no way they'd be as good as my favorite Thai place in MPLS, but I was wrong! Amazing good, great prices and friendly staff! So glad we tried this not so hidden gem!
Great flavor catfish was amazing
My wife is Thai and I spent years in Thailand. We try every Thai restaurant in the twin cities area that opens. We were so surprised when we tried Jays. It is THE best and most authentic Thai food we’ve found in a 50 mile radius. Hands down, it’s better than a lot of the food in Thailand even. Jay is also a very gracious host, the service is always top notch. Can’t recommend it enough. If you’re curious about real Thai food, this is the place to try. I also love that their menu isn’t loaded with stuff. They execute perfectly on a well stocked menu. Most Thai restaurants try to make everything and do it halfway, but Jays has it down to a science. Highly recommend!!
I had an excellent experience when catering food for a small party. Great food and great service!
Incredible food, greatly appreciate it!
most favorite place to eat. i’ve come here many many times and i swear it gets better and better. same guy working every time and my bf and i adore him. 100/10 recommend.
The food was amazingly delicious! I couldn't stop making yummy noises. We will be back!
Staff were very friendly and the food was amazing! Highly recommend the Chili oil Tom yum soup! I really recommend this place and will come back every time I'm in town
Excellent Tom Yum, looking forward to trying more!
Great spring rolls and Thai fried rice! Owner was very friendly and space was very clean. Would highly recommend!
good food. good service. everything was excellent.
This place is fabulous! Food is on point and they have some unique dishes. Service is fast and friendly. Price doesn't break the bank. We will be back very soon.
Had the chicken pad thai. Was excellent! Great service too!!
The food was good and very friendly
This place is so great! We ordered take out and had the chicken pad thai, chicken lo mein, and chicken fried rice…all were delicious! We’ll definitely be returning.
A local gem in Chisago City! Excellent Thai food. I especially love the shrimp fried rice, and the egg rolls.
New ownership and the best Thai food!!
We got spring rolls, pad Thai, fried rice, and boat noodles.
Everything was amazing but the boat noodles (pho) was by far the best I’ve ever had!
I cannot possibly express enough how amazing the quality of food and service is at Jay's Kitchen! The food in this neck of the woods is pretty basic - mostly bland American, very little diversity, where ketchup is considered spicy. Jay's is the real deal! SO much flavor, SO much freshness, and Thai level heat! We have only eaten in and the young gentlemen working the floor provide exceptional service. I love how helpful they are with teaching about Thai food. We've noticed last time we were in they had kleenex at all of the tables. 🤣 The spice is no joke!
Our absolute favorite dish is the Larb Nam Tok with grilled pork. 🤤🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌 The amount of fresh herbs and depths of flavor is out of this world! We have also enjoyed the red curry, pad thai, pad-see-ew, pad kra pao, several stir fries, and all the fried rice. All delicious and great portion sizes. Great to eat family style! Be sure to wash it down with a bubble tea - it's blended and is more like a fruity shake!
Jay's Kitchen, thank you for making Chisago City your home and thank you for the great food!!🍲🥘🍛🍜
Very delicious food. My wife says some of the dishes taste exactly like what she used to eat in Indonesia, she is originally from there.
Fantastic food! The Hoi-Pad-Cha has three different types of ginger in it so it has a bit of bite, but it’s fantastic for clearing sinuses. Online orders seem to work better than calling, and they do (sometimes?) offer tofu even though it’s not on the menu
Delicious food! Best Pad Thai I’ve had! Can’t wait to go back!!!
Stopped in on my way through town for a quick dinner. Best red curry I’ve ever had! In Chisago of all places! Fresh food, amazing layers of flavor.
New hidden gem! Ordered the Chicken Paid Thai and my taste buds were immediately transported back to when I was in Thailand. Chisago is super fortunate to have authentic Thai food like this in the area. Jay is super cool and nice. Can tell he is passionate about his craft!
Our kids said it was the best food they had ever had! Jay was friendly! We will be returning!
The food was delicious and our server was friendly and thoughtful. The portion was large, so I have enough for a 2nd meal. Jay's Kitchen is a great addition to Chisago Lakes.
Good food and the price was not bad. Will be ordering again.
This is one of the best Thai restaurants we’ve been in years. My friends and I went to the Taylor state park and stopped here for lunch. Been there twice, will be going again. Loved that all of the veggies are fresh and cooked to perfection. Have never been a fan of eggplant, but theirs has changed my mind.
I got the pork larb, extra spicy papaya salad, spring rolls, and the SO got chicken fried rice. The papaya was on point and I definitely enjoyed the pork larb. One of the best Thai style papaya I've had in a long time. Wished they had sweet (sticky) rice as a regular order to go with the larb and papaya salad. Talked to the owner for a bit and he was very nice. Will definitely come back to dine in to try other dishes.
I called ahead to get an order of Chicken Pad Thai for my first time there. The pad thai has really good flavor and the chicken is good (not all gristle - thank you for trimming your meats)! I ordered it as-is from the menu and I will get it again, but try it with a little bit of spice next time.
Friendly and fast service for a Monday around 12 pm - I will be back again!
I've been back twice since my initial review. Pad See Ew was really good. I also got Pad Thai, spicy number 4 out of 5. I would dial it back down to spicy #3 for next time.
Stop in this place if going through Chisago Lakes. Great food, friendly service and clean restaurant.
Love the pineapple fried rice with shrimp! Great flavor and nice big shrimp and cashews. Crispy pork belly anything is tasty and the Pad Thai is decent too. Thankful for something different and fresh nearby.
to be honest jay's kitchen has the best pad thai i've ever experienced in my life -- 🌴
ab-soul-utely perfect w/ a 2/5 spice level!!!
🥰🤌 𝓪𝓶𝓪𝔃𝓲𝓷𝓰 fresh coconut water... 🤤
what else can i say 🌤
highly recommend restaurant.
--- you're welcome (ツ) 🤣
Although finding Thai restaurants is getting much easier these days finding quality, flavorful, and authentic ones is still quite a challenge (even in WA).
Our first time in the state (visiting family) and delightfully surprised to find this gem. A bit off the beaten path but if you really like Thai food I would highly recommend making the trip.
All the owner's recipes, established from his experience in Bangkok, are traditional yet unique in flavor.
We enjoyed the Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Crispy Pork and Broccoli, Red Curry, and Frog Legs!
Got the Stir-Fried Basil w/Crispy Pork Belly and rice for the third time today and I swear each time I come back, it gets even tastier. I got the "Medium" heat, which I felt was a good level. It was enough to give my mouth the tingles a little and was super flavorful still. I'd love to try it full heat, but if you're not huge on spice, I would recommend medium or less. I also got the egg rolls again, I love them ❤️ I'd have to say, I need to try more variety but based off my 3 experiences so far, it's worth trying out as I've never had a bad experience yet and the food has always been fresh and tasty!
The red curry is amazing--hearty, fresh, full bodied... and the waiter says to me "if you want more rice, just ask, it's free." Wow!
I've had a lot of Thai food and this might be the best I've had. Wonderful meal
Food was delicious and fresh! I definitely will come again and try the rest of the menu!
We ordered the Boat Noodle, EggPlant dish, fresh Coconut, Taro Boba and Spring Rolls.
Placed an order for pork belly fried rice. Ended up with chicken fried rice. Was told 20 min wait. Waited for 45 min. Called multiple times to let them know they got my order wrong. Not a single call answered. Foods good but apparently they are not firing on all cylinders. If I wanted chicken I would butcher the ones in my yard.
All around GREAT!
Unbelievably delicious!! My husband and I were in heaven! Can’t believe this place is in Chisago! We are about to become regulars!
Amazing!!! Service for dine in was great, very attentive staff, and the food is delicious. Tried shrimp fried rice and pork belly with rice. The fried rice was flavorful and buttery and a great portion for the piece. The pork belly was crispy and perfectly seasoned, I got it in medium spice and it was just enough to get my nose running but not painful; just how I like it! (You can ask for no added spice) overall super yummy, haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since I ate there lol. 10/10
We've ordered take out here at least 4 or 5 times since they've opened and each time it is SO delicious!! I worked at a Thai food restaurant in Minneapolis for 7 years and found myself getting picky with thai restaurants. Jay's Kitchen Thai Street Food is so great! I'm glad we finally have quality thai food in the area. If I could afford it, I would probably order take out here multiple times a week. My favorite is their green curry :)
5 STARS!!!! This place is DELICIOUS!! We were very pleased with the Thai food selection, everything was hot, fresh and ready when we picked it up! Great quantity of food for the price. My husband loves a solid “heat” with his Thai, and upon our request they certainly delivered! So good you have to go. We’ve been to Thailand and this food may even be better than what we experienced in country! So happy to have some solid Thai food in our area!!!
Best Thai I've had in a long time!! Welcome to the neighborhood.
The green curry, boat soup, and pork belly was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back. Especially for the curry.
Soooo good. Why drive to the cities to find awesome Thai? Right in Chisago. Go try it if you haven’t yet
I've never had Thai before and the staff was amazing at helping with choices.
Food was delicious!
