Its convenient location in the heart of Harvard Square adds to its charm and accessibility.
Great tasting Thai food at a casual but elevated restaurant! The food is very flavorful. I would say it is a little bit overpriced, the experience and food is worth $3-4 cheaper than the actual price. Yes the food is good, but it’s quite normal and there was nothing spectacular. The mango curry was good except the mango bits took my by surprised and almost had a slimy texture which I personally didn’t love, but that’s just what mango bits in curry feel like. The noodle portions were quite small for the price. The pad thai didn’t look very appetizing since it was a bland beige color and had no veggies. I’d recommend the curry if you come here!
The service was good though and this is a good restaurant for large-ish parties (8-12) as long as you make a reservation.
I ordered the drunken noodles and was kind of disappointed. The noodles were mushy and were falling apart from being overcooked. The flavor was good though. Although there wasn’t a lot of people in the restaurant, I felt kind of rushed to finish my meal and leave by the waiter. Probably because I was eating alone.
Amazing! I went here last night to celebrate my friend's birthday 🎂. I'm not a fan of Thai food, but this place clearly changed my mentality. I had Red Curry (vegetable option). Do yourself a favour and order this! It was so delicious that I didn't want to finish it.
The air in the restaurant is classy! The lights are elegant and the curtains royal gold. It's a proper dinner place, which affords a party just enough privacy to interact without overhearing other conversations. The staff is responsive, proper, and professional. I want to go back again.
Excellent fried rice -- it was simple and authentic.
I’ve had a hard time finding a go-to Thai restaurant in the area, and this place is pretty on par with the rest of Cambridge. A bit overpriced and not super flavorful. Service was pretty efficient, though.
Solid and affordable Thai food in Harvard Square packed with students on a busy night. They have all the Thai staples you could want and then some. The food does the job, and it’s a great student hotspot in a basement atmosphere.
A new favorite spot!
Got the pad see iu and chicken satay. Both were okay, but I've had better at some other Thai restaurants.
Great food for reasonable prices.

Casual place for fantastic Thai. Seriously in the running for best I've ever had. I really enjoyed the Spicy Thai Basil Pork Kra Pow: it's a flavor packed ground pork dish over rice, perfectly portioned for a satisfying and filling dinner after walking around Cambridge. It's a good level of heat (maximum 🌶️🌶️🌶️ on menu), but if you really like heat, you may want to ask them to make it more spicy. It didn't induce sweat, but a good mouth-warming to complement the complex flavors. I'd venture to guess this is one of the better quality and value locations near Harvard.

Gluten free options are sooo delicious!
It was good food. We ordered the pad see ew and drunken noodles. However, the service was bad in terms of bill payment and tipping. The server kept pointing me at the tip amounts and told me that I cannot tip anything else (minimum 18% which is a lot for 2 college students). I told her that I'm not legally obligated to tip her but still put in a custom tip to round up our total amount. She retorted this custom tip, berated/mocked my tip amount and went back to the other servers and tattled about us. All the servers were now staring at us. While tipping culture is toxic in general, the current servers at this place made it even more toxic.
Decent Thai food in Harvard Square
As you already know, I recommend very good places, in this case it is nine tastes excellent cuisine that is very good. So that all the people who have time and can attend visit it since they have delicious menus or I recommend you go to spend a pleasant day and try all the delicious things it has to offer you.
I was charged a large party service fee(18%) when we only have 3 people. I went to a lot of a places, a lot of restaurants, it’s my first time being charged a large party service fee when less than five people!! And there is literally no service at all!! We ordered Tom Yum soup and only one scoop was serviced. I asked the waitress to give me two more scoops for my parents. After I finished the dinner, I still don’t get the two scoops. How dare you automatically charge a 18% large party service fee?
Best Thai food ever!!!
I had a lovely meal here of the Tom Kha Soup (a coconut-based soup with mushrooms, bay leaf, and chicken) and the Crispy Duck. The duck was amazing. Both dishes had a mix of sweet and savory spices, so they were extraordinarily tasty but had no burning "hot spices."
Many other items on the menu looked great. Conveniently, they mark their menu items with 0-5 peppers, so you know what level of heat you're going to get. The ambience is actually okay for a basement restaurant aimed at Harvard graduate students and postdocs. It certainly was clean and tidy. Even on a Friday night, there was only one table of tourists.
Solid Thai food with clearly marked gluten free options
I enjoyed my Singapore noodles. Fresh and hot . Good flavor and staff was nice and personalable.
My husband and I absolutely *adore* this place. Perhaps our favorite restaurant to the point that we are regulars. Some of the best food in town (a huge part of why we keep coming back). Ong on their staff is the most wonderful, even remembering our orders in subsequent visits, and always being a warm presence. Highly highly recommend to anyone passing by or local who hasn't yet tried this.
Nice restaurant. Affordable but tasty!
Everything was great but was shocked by them guiltripping us into paying. We paid 15% tip but they forced us to pay their minimum tipping (18-20%, which is ok) but it was by asking “was the food bad? Was I rude? Was x unpleasant? Why did you tip less?” I found this intimidating and unpleasant.
Good spring rolls. But, I asked for medium spice on my Pad See Iu noodles, but it was so intolerably spicy. Typically, I get medium spicy noodles because mild is tasteless. But, they really need to be careful about following spiciness instructions.
Menu says there are lunch prices (including on weekends) but was told during a lunchtime visit that only dinners are served??? Such a scam!!!
Nine tastes is great and has a particularly tasty red curry. We really miss the in house delivery service they used to have before the pandemic, but takeout is still really good!
I was curious on what the vibe would be like since it’s in a basement. But it’s quite expansive and I liked the ambiance. The service was great and the food was tasty! Would recommend.
speedy service and good food
It seems to be better to make a reservation before you go. Especially at around 7, this restaurant is pretty crowded.
This restaurant has variety of food menus. In addition to curries and gyoza of which I took pictures, you need to take time to decide your menu!
Because it’s a Thai restaurant, take care not to choose too spicy food if you don’t have strength for spicy tastes.
Amazing food , love the pad Thai and service!
The lemongrass tofu was perfect. I love that it’s such a large, healthy serving of protein, available steamed instead of fried, and tastes delicious! I can’t think of a better vegetarian protein option in Harvard square.
Great Thai food!
The waiter, Bew (if I remember correctly), unfortunately, had a negative impact on our day. She displayed extreme rudeness and disrespect, which greatly affected our plan to have a cozy evening with friends for a meaningful conversation.
If you don’t want to be served/treated like an animal, please avoid going this place.
I think the server name was Bew, she was mad for any questions and also when closing the check she was trying to take over the tipping section and was showing rude character.
I don’t know how management of this restaurant is controlling their employees but overall no one shouldn’t be treated the way as this place do.
Hope they will take action.
Lots of GF options and labels ❤️ had some yummy Thai food here and will be back.
Intimate atmosphere, good spot for a date. Food was great!
I've never dealt with such a rude restaurant that gets angry with their customers based on special preferences in their orders. Quite frankly, it's rude and ridiculous. I usually order the Spicy Basil Fried Rice and I have allergies to certain ingredients and I am not able to edit special instructions at all with this restaurant on the DoorDash app. It says, “The store has chosen not to accept special requests. Contact them directly with questions about their menus.” I usually have to call to tell them my preference and the person I spoke with tonight was extremely rude. They were saying that they knew my order already and I should edit the instructions on the DoorDash app. I've told them multiple times over the phone that THEY need to edit this since as a customer, I do not have access to their DoorDash platform to do this! I don't understand why they're getting angry with me when they can’t clearly solve their issue right. I don’t like having to call places to begin with in regards to my preferences and I shouldn’t be made to feel terrible because I’m preventing an allergy attack for myself. Fix your DoorDash special requests option and I won’t have to call anymore!
- Update: The restaurant purposely messed up my food because of the fact that I called in regards to my special instructions. They put carrots and all sorts of things in my food on purpose. I got extremely upset over the phone and asked to speak to a manager and the same woman told me that there’s no manager and only staff on board tonight. I can’t believe the complete disrespect. I’ve escalated this with DoorDash and plan to go forward. This restaurant now has temporarily closed on DoorDash because of their stupid mistake. I will never order from this restaurant again and please let this review be proof that you shouldn’t either!
Best Thai food in Harvard Sq
First time ordering delivery from this Thai cuisine at Harvard area. We ordered their crispy chicken Pad Thai and crispy chicken Drunken Noodles. They tasted great with reasonable price for crispy chicken option but the portion can be bigger. Overall, will try their other dishes next time!
Amazing! I went here last night to celebrate my friend's birthday 🎂. I'm not a fan of Thai food, but this place clearly changed my mentality. I had Red Curry (vegetable option). Do yourself a favour and order this! It was so delicious that I didn't want to finish it.

Delicious food and amazing service!
Probably one of the best Thai restaurants in the area. Lunch specials are great, indoor sitting area well maintained and clean.
Food was ready super quickly and the pad Thai was absolutely phenomenal!!! Classic flavor without too much oil/sauce, it was just perfect. We loved the chicken skewers too. Highly recommend and will be going back! Staff was friendly too!
Solid Thai food, quick and easy!
Rude service. Overpriced and forced 18% tips. Not worth it.
DISGUSTING. I would rate this restaurant zero if I could. Absolutely the worst Thai experience I’ve ever had.
Horrible service, lower than average food, and forced 18% tip!!!! I don’t even know how they can take this for granted since the young lady who served us was rude the whole time - she yelled at us when we walked in, rushed us to order, and didn’t even bother to answer our simple questions about the dishes.
STAY AWAY FROM this restaurant to save yourself some dignity as a customer(or human being). I would not dine in or order a takeout from a place like this.
A solid place to get Thai food that’s close to the Harvard Square T stop
I got tofu pad Thai and pan fried veggie dumplings. The pad Thai was very filling and good enough for two meals.
Keep in mind that there are only stairs to get to the restaurant, so it’s not very accessible
They accommodated my large group of 7 for a graduation celebration so last minute after we failed to enjoy a restaurant elsewhere. So we are very grateful for them. The food was also made really fast and we liked every dish.
True Thai enjoyment. The staff were friendly and professional. I was so impressed I dined there the following day.
Food rotten!! They serve frozen stuff. Not trustworthy. Don’t come!
I think this place used to have higher quality food. I didn't like their pad thai.
The portion sizes are on the smaller side for the price. The food is okay, though I do enjoy the atmosphere and flower centerpieces.
I like their food but there is a really rude waitress if you sit in. Watch out.
Food was average, but service is terrible. Staff are rude.
Great food and service!!
This is a typical Asian restaurant with pretty good food but what is missing is the ambience. Fried rice was pretty good and the thai tea was great as well. Stop by for a quick dinner or lunch but don’t come here for your valentines date if you know what you mean!
The food and service were both very quick, the restaurant is on a lower level but very warm and inviting. Food was really really good packed with flavor, unfortunately they no longer offer spring rolls (nime chow).
I found a large, sharp, curved metal wire in my food. I showed it to our waitress who had no opinion about it.
Best Tom yam with shrimp!!
Great food and service
Sawadeeeeeeekaaaaaa
What a great Thai restaurant. I tried many new dishes, and the flavors were great. We had a large party, and they did a great job taking care of our tables. Would definitely recommend. Parking was surprisingly easier than expected. For 4 cars in our party.
Enjoyed the Singapore noodles and how accommodating they were of our group with a small child. Very friendly.
Good Thai food. Typical, nothing special. Would eat here again.
Worst experience in Boston! Pad thai is way too sweet. The people working here are so rude. I can usually get along with people but not this time. The moment that propelled me to write this is when they give me half cup of thai tea when I said no ice. They didn’t even ask me if that’s ok. (Think how you only get half cup of milktea when you have a no ice order) they made fun of my English, unplugged my phone without my consent, and laughed at me when I sat in the wrong place. When I refuse to offer tip because of their rudeness, they despised me. If they can just ask “did you feel uncomfortable about anything ” when I didn’t offer the tip, it would be another story. On a side note, I know giving tips is the basic courtesy and I always give 15 to 20 percent at restaurants. This is the first time I feel angry at restaurants. Don’t go.
A beautiful taste of Thai food. All food so delicious. Staff so nice and good service. Restaurant so clean. Recommend
It used to be my go-to place for lunch many years back. Not sure if COVID forced a management change, most of the employees are different now and the restaurant had a new menu.
Unfortunately things didn’t change for the better for the restaurant. Few comments from a not-so-great dining experience today:
1. Summer Lover, aka. Steak fries + small bowl of coconut soup for $10.95… I understand it’s inflation time, but for about 15 slices of fries (one of them so over fried that they don’t even bother to pick it out), and a bowl of soup as a dip? Who uses soup as fries dip? It’s too watery to have fries pick up any soup and the taste together is just strange. A 100% rip off.
2. Their spicy level. I used to remember when nine’ taste’s spicy level is legitimately spicy, with 🌶, 🌶 🌶, and 🌶 🌶 🌶. The dish I ordered today with three pepper signs, tasted sour and sweet, nothing close to the level of spiciness indicated. One of Thai food’s essences is its spicy level that activates the taste buds. They failed miserably.
Overall, the taste of Thai food has gone downhill since pre-COVID times. I suspect there’s a chance of management and of course, chefs as well, along with a hyper inflated menu items.
As a former loyal customer of Nine-Taste, I would not come here again.
Lovely little thai place. Great for hungry families. Our waiter was hospitable and kept our drinks full. We ordered the Nine Tastes Sampler, Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp, Pad Thai, Nam Prik Ong, and the Sukothai Jumbo Shrimp Pad Thai. All delicious.
service was great, the place is clean, and altho it was quite busy (it's friday) we were sitted quickly and food came out roughly 10 minutes. now food quality tho... tom yum wasn't hot enough temperature wise. the flavor's underwhelming too. could barely taste the sourness and spice. the mushroom wasn't fully cooked at all. the padthai is on the wet side and had a lot of sauce which was weird.. it's an american thai food and far from the word authentic.
I'm disappointed. The current Nine Tastes seems to have significantly downgraded from the reliable excellent food preparation and comfortably cozy dining environment of the pre-covid Nine Tastes. Menu items seem overly Americanized now and almost like fast food in a mall food court. The new plastic laminated menu with colorful pics and fewer words is a turn off. Server was pleasant though forgetful. Though the food seemed to be of good quality and was fresh, they may have changed the recipes to suit tourists rather than those who love and seek out good authentic-ish Thai food. Boo hoo.
Food was good but service is lacking. Waitress stood around away from guests and only came by to take the order and give the bill. She never checked on us and we wanted to order more drinks.
Bad Thai imitation (it is actually Chinese!)
Giving big ONE star for the unprofessional and rude staff behaviour although the food taste was okay. We had a very UNPLEASANT experience.
Food was good but the service was pathetic with rude staff behavior. Left with very unpleasant experience.
Bad service. Waiter was pushy, insisted that we had our orders mixed up even though we clearly didn't and knew what we ordered. Waiter still acted like she knew better.
Ths drunken noodle is amazing!!!
Went with a friend and we ordered chicken Pad Thai. Not only it tasted weird, but we had a bad evening digesting it.
It was an enjoyable experience, the staff was pleasant in a rush situation. The food was decent, not as authentic or flavorful as other restaurants but the atmosphere made up for it. I would go again if invited, however I would not set up a date here. (Pumpkin curry, pad kra pow, papaya salad)
Incredible food and friendly wait staff. The Tom yum soup is delicious. The service is also very good every time I've been here. The food comes out pretty quickly too even when the restaurant is busy.
Nice atmosphere to come with some friends. The tomyum soup and thai tea really stood out to me. I also got the appetizer sampler, green curry and pad thair. Food was fairly priced but was average.
Loved it
The food was very flavourful, and the spicy labels were definitely spot on
I loved the Chicken Satay appetizer, which left me wanting more!
I had the Seafood Kamikase, which was pretty spicy, but it was delicious
The service was wonderful despite already having a pitcher of water, they still came to refill out cups and check in with us occasionally
Wonderful experience
This place is a hidden gem!! We had lunch there and the staff was very hospitable and the food was amazing. We ordered massaman curry, tom yum soup, Bangkok Jungle, and mango sticky rice. The food portions were not very big but each was enough to fulfill one person. I totally loved the massaman curry, it was so flavorful. Thai curries are definitely my new obsession. Bangkok jungle was loaded with vegetables and so flavorful. Botg the entrées weren’t too spicy at all and had just the good kick of flavors. For dessert we tried the mango sticky rice and my god i have been missing on this great combination!! Its hands down so finger licking delicious. Totally in love. Would definitely recommend this place to all.
Very tasty. Lots of vegetables. Loved the yellow curry and basil fried chicken
Rude and disrespectful staff. Was ignored by multiple people during my visit and told to "sit down and talk to my waitress" when I got up and asked the host a question. The waitress was so embarrassed and extremely apologetic, which is the only reason why I stayed and didn't just walk out. Will not be back.
Amazing food, super quick service
Very good. One of my favorite pad thais. Make sure to specify no fish or oyster sauce if you're a vegetarian and that kind of thing matters to you!
Great food and ambience, food is super nice, must try
Great food!
I loved the atmosphere and the wait staff was great. It was my first time at a restaurant in months. I gave it four stars because I was not entirely jazzed about the food...it wasn't bad, just didn't wow me. I wish there was quite a bit more egg as that was the meat for my entree.
One of the best Drunken Noodle dishes in the Boston area (and I've tried almost all of them). I asked for 'extra spicy,' which had a good kick. Service was really fast, too.
Website needs work. I tried to order online for today, the receipt came through saying it was for delivery in a week from now. I called up to change or cancel and they said they cannot.
When I've eaten here in person pre-covid it was great.
Great service and good food !
Too salty and the portion sizes are small for low quality ingredients.
Food was really good. They have good vegetarian alternative. And their Thai basil fried rice has good taste and quantities.
THEY ARE NOT OPEN DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. Saw they were open on Google, ordered food but it never came. Tried calling their number, but no one answered.
They should update their service hours and availability.
10 stars for the food! Big portions, GREAT taste, very reasonable prices. I always eat here at least once anytime I'm in the area. 2 things to be aware of though. Very steep narrow down staircase to enter. Second, the wait staff tends to take awhile for everything (from drinks, to taking your order, to bringing the check).
Ha! So I found another good Thai restaurant in Cambridge! Good service, good atmosphere, and good Thai food.
I suggest to ask for fish sauce and chilies, which it will come as the condiment jars. So you can add vinegar, fish sauce, and chilies to your fried rice or noodles.
Thai beer is cheap here.
10% discount with student ID.
ส้มตำปลาร้าแซ่บอยู่ (papaya salad with pickled fish is cool.) But non-Thai people may find it difficult to understand why many Thai ladies love this dish.
Отличное место для того чтобы пообедать в хорошей обстановке: очень чисто,отличное обслуживание,хорошая кухня. Шеф учел даже то,что я не люблю слишком острое блюдо. Замечательно!
Decent Thai food in Cambridge. They have student discount and prices are relatively good without it too.
Great place for Thai food around Harvard Square. Been here a few times, will go back again. Love the lunch box specials as well as the other dishes. Safe recommendation - I am not an expert in Thai food, so cannot say how authentic it is. But I love flavorful and spicy food and love this place.
Located in a basement level, the restaurant itself has two separate dining areas. It has all typical Thai restaurant's menu. We ordered some appetizers, two different soups and entries. Our food came fast, everything that we ordered was tasty and fresh. Service was fast and pleasant.
FIREEEEEE, pad Thai, golden bags, scallion pancakes, mango rice. All great and quick service.
