I’ve been ordering here for about 4 years now. Never dined in, only ever picked up or had it delivered. Each and every time, the sushi is delicious. The fish and avocado are always fresh. Anytime I go to pick up (for myself and I also drive for doordash) the staff is very friendly and attentive. Definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in Maryland!

I ordered the rainbow roll and eel + cucumber rolls and they were absolutely delicious and fresh. The bubble tea, specifically the mango milk tea, was also a very nice complement to the meal. The service was also outstanding, creating a warm and energetic atmosphere. Finally, it's clear that the staff love working at this restaurant, which only enhances the overall environment and dining experience. Food served well. Great service & great value. We had hibachi steak, drunken noodles, sexy jalapeno(spicy), sushi rolls served on nice wooden ship style plates. I also enjoyed the taro smoothie (made by Kendy). It tastes very appetizing. Hopefully we can come back here someday.

I had the pleasure of doing date night with my wife and it was a really pleasant experience. The food was good and we enjoyed ourselves. my wife wanted sushi amd we saw this place and decided to go and the sushi was good. The main dish we ordered took a little while to come out and I ordered Drunken Noodles with shrimp and chicken. My dish only had 3 shrimps which was very shocking so I mentioned and asked the server about it but they made it right and bought me out extra shrimp.

Been going here for years and unfortunately the quality of the sushi has gone down. My last order was so bad my son and I spit out our first bite. The fish was rancid. Total shame too, they worked around both our food allergies.

We went for dinner with a party of five on a Sunday evening and it was really good food. The sushi was great, the staff waiting on us were really nice, and it was reasonably priced. We definitely plan on going back.

Had a beer and sandwich with wife and daughters. Very good. I should have saved half of the sandwich.

They do cross contaminate, so I couldn't eat anything other than edamane but others really enjoyed the food.

Place has two entrances making it confusing about where you are actually supposed to go to get food. Sushi was pretty good and cheaper than the other sushi places in frederick. But they are lacking in there kids options they cost more than just getting the food as a side and give you less or equal amount of food. The noodles for the kids options tasted so strongly of mushrooms that our kids would not even touch them and we couldn't even eat the noddles just threw them away.

Place was pretty decent. Prices are great, service was good. Is not fancy by any means but it was well worth the visit. Will be back!

This place has great sushi. We get to go from here a lot and are always pleased with the quality and price of the food. I don't think I have ever had bad sushi from here. It is always spot on. Disappointing Dining Experience at Old Dominion

I visited Old Dominion yesterday with my boyfriend, and unfortunately, our first dining-in experience was a letdown. We've had their sushi for takeout multiple times, but the subpar service and mediocre food left us disappointed.

The employees seemed uninterested and disconnected, leaning on counters, using their phones, and watching TVs on the wall. This attitude translated to poor service, making us feel like an inconvenience.

While the sushi was decent, the main courses were surprisingly subpar. I ordered the beef pad Thai, which had stuck-together noodles and was overpowered by sauce. My boyfriend's chicken hibachi was also underwhelming. To make matters worse, our drinks were never refilled.

Considering our previous positive takeout experiences, this dining-in experience was a shock. Hopefully, Old Dominion will address these issues to improve their service and food quality.

We went on a Saturday night off a Google recommendation for great sushi. I was really happy with the amazing sushi selection, especially their vegetarian options. I don’t know if they don’t have sushi bar seating but the area we sat at looked like the bar but with no seats. They didn’t have the Olympics on, instead showed softball, mma fighting and news. We ordered the tempura appetizer. The Shrimp were well cooked. The vegetables were greasy and the broccoli was very overcooked. I ordered 3 sushi rolls, the veggie roll, cucumber roll and a salmon roll. The special salmon roll had no salmon in it, but the waiter insisted that was what I ordered ( maybe there was a language barrier). The veggie rolls were ok but loosely rolled, like they didn’t use enough rice. I don’t know if this is a place to bring kids but there were a lot of kids running around. Not necessarily the restaurants fault but detracted from my experience. With all the sushi options in Frederick we won’t be back. I would recommend Sapporo 2 in downtown Frederick.

The sushi was so good. I think we found our favorite sushi place to go to here in Frederick. Even my kids were in heaven. I loved the Raven Roll and my kids loved the Con Loco roll!

One of the best sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to. Food is amazing for how quick they are, fresh, tasty, the portions are generous and the price is great. I don’t usually bother giving reviews but this one deserves it.

It's a standard sushi and grill. What I really enjoy is the reman shop that is connected to the restaurant. You can order those items as well if sushi and hibachi you're not your thing.

The rolls were good and the fried rice. The Thai mojito was delicious. Although the place is a little dated it's still a nice establishment that offers many selections, not just sushi.

Was not impressed. I had sushi and nothing stood out enough for me to go back.

Ordered from here because my usual sushi place was closed. The gyoza was good, the spicy scallop roll looked and tasted like they stuffed some tempura batter in some seaweed and rice then called it a day. Ordered a simple salmon roll and tuna roll as I liked the small size. They weren’t completely sealed and fell apart when picked up. I gave it three stars because the taste wasn’t awful, just not what I’ve come to expect from a sushi place.

The sushi here is OUTSTANDING! Our all time favorite place to go to eat sushi. Excellent service and delicious food. 10/10 recommend old dominion for sushi.

Great food! YingYang Shrimp, Kani Salad, and Hibachi Chicken. My daughter had Sushi, Loco Coco Rolls and 2 others that were delicious! And a Banana Mango Martini.

The maryland crab roll is my favorite speciality roll here. However I was a bit irritated I couldn’t find any calorie information for all the menu items online anywhere. I recommend one be added so people can make conscious decisions about what they are eating!! :)

Great choice to go with a variety of offerings and great seating spaces. We love the sushi rolls, and I particularly enjoy the cowboy roll. We were a party of 8 on Christmas Eve, and everyone was happy with their selections.

The sushi is very good and so are the burgers. It's a surprisingly good versatile place. Great for a family that has totally different tastes and desires. They can also accommodate a group fairly easily.

When I come it's usually positive. This time the service was bad, I mean real bad. Our server Feenando sucked. Took him a while to give us menus because he was watching tv. Never came back to ask if we wanted drinks never asked if we was finished just assumed we were and gave us the check.

The reviews for this restaurant were so good that I could not believe how bad it was when I ate there last night. Really bad.

I ordered sushi. My yellowtail roll was hot. The eel roll I could not eat- the avocado on top was black, it was filled with cucumber and then the little bit of eel inside was fishy and not fresh. I left it all on the plate. The waitress didn’t notice or ask if it was ok.

Our kids ordered smoothies. They brought out milkshakes instead. They tasted bad- fake strawberry, super sugary. The kids didn’t even drink them.

I ordered a drink. It never arrived.

My brother ordered sushi. It had hair in it. He ordered a Long Island iced tea- it was half soda.

The rest of the food was ok ish- my daughter ate her avocado roll, my nephew ate his California roll… my husband got drunken noodles and they were prob the best of the food but nothing we would order again. Bland.

It wasn’t an expensive meal. I was embarassed though because my brother and his kids came to visit and they wanted sushi so we wanted to take them somewhere good. And it was awful.

Very positive experience here! Food was great, lots of options on menu, waiter was friendly and professional, and they seamlessly accomodated our party of 12. Generous portions for entrees. There is a nice indoor dining area, outdoor seating, and a cafe-esque side area that appeared it'd be good for getting drinks. Would definitely recommend for a variety of occasions!

I hate to be hard on this place because the rest of my family loves it and eats the sushi. I got hibachi chicken last night, ended up horribly sick with food poisoning. Chicken was raw!

Old Dominion has the best sushi in town, hands down. It is also a perfect restaurant if dining with others who don’t eat sushi. I’ve done both dine in and take out and both are delicious. My personal favorite is the Ravens Roll, and the sweet potato roll is also very good. Highly recommend!

I have walked by this place several times on my way to work. Today my wife and I finally decided to try this place out. OMG their food is to die for. Service was speedy and concise. The price of the food was reasonable too. I would recommend it to everyone.

We went for our son's graduation lunch and it was rather empty. For paying $150+ a 20% tip,the female server was extremely rude, hurrying us to order and we had not been seated for 5 minutes. She also messed up 3 of the 8 drink orders and two meal orders because she didn't write them down. I will say I gave a 20% tip because of the other male waiters who were attentive and treated us kindly.

Place has grand opening banner outside. when you go in the seats are all scratched, old and ripping apart. Food was not good! And service was just ok. One of those places I can say I tried and definitely never going back.

Headed back again tonight. This place is SEVERELY underrated and deserves your patronage if you like sushi, American, Thai, or happy hour. They have a boatload of beers on tap and extremely friendly, knowledgeable staff. Their rolls are huge. Compare their base tuna roll with any other in town, I dare you. All of their rolls/portions are great.

This is my all time favorite restaurant! The food is phenomenal. The restaurant is clean and has a great atmosphere. The owner, Becky, is a wonderful lady. She runs a tight ship! Service is shears incredible. My favorites are the Ravens and Cowboy rolls, chicken hibachi, and tempura cheesecake. DJ is also a fantastic addition to their team. The kitchen staff and sushi chefs have my respect for consistency and superior quality food.

The raven roll is the BEST

I made the mistake of trying a different sushi place in Frederick and immediately realized what a mistake it was! Old Dominion is the BEST. I have never had a bad dish and all of their sushi is incredibly fresh and their rolls are so good. Their fried rice and drunken noodles are also delicious. Staff is incredibly friendly and their carry out is great too. I have learned my lesson, so instead of writing a bad review of the other place, I decided to write a great review here. I'll be coming in soon to remember what great sushi tastes like.

Lots to choose from on the menu. I had teriyaki steak and a tuna roll. Both were delicious.

Very nice staff. Our waitress was helpful and kind. She made sure we had we everything we needed. I think her name was Becky. And the food was absolutely incredible! The bento box was excellent and everything was fresh and perfectly proportioned. Great sauce included but I’m not sure what exactly it was. The batter on the tempura was perfect. The ravens roll was very delicious! It seemed like they perfected the portions of each ingredient on the ravens roll and the texture of it was amazing. Bubble tea was excellent as well. Amazing mushroom soup and edamame. I’d come back here every week if I could!

Great mix of Asian dishes and a wide-variety of sushi. Also, a large menu of surprisingly good standard American fair like burgers and fries and cheesesteaks all reasonably priced. Connected to the restaurant is a full-service bobba tea shop, so you can order bobba with any meal.

Came in with my 12yo in tow. The rolls are delicious. Ordered a special roll and a hand roll ....both were delicious. The rice and fish both tasted fresh enough to think it was tasty. I can't compare it to other places because it's the 2md time I've tried sushi in Fred and the first place was horrible.

My partner got the 3 different rolls and he also did not like them.
Sushi here is not worth buying. Fish just as not as fresh as it could taste.

The miso was disappointing. The broth of the miso was very separated and chunky. They put too many green onions in it. Also not enough tofu. Tofu is really tiny.

Also the female wait staff are not friendly at all takes forwver to get your drinks filled. 1/2 way through my meal I got a guy waiter and he performed so much better and was really friendly. He also noticed I did not like any of my food and discounted the st patty roll bc I didn't eat any except one piece.

It was really good. The seaweed salad was fresh and so was the sushi fish. I really liked the bubble tea i ordered. I used uber eats for delivery.

My family and I recently visited Old Dominion sushi restaurant and were impressed with their quick and accurate service. Despite only giving them a 2 hour notice for a large party, they were able to take our reservation without any issue. The food was properly prepared and delicious, with a great variety of options to choose from. Our server was attentive to our needs and did everything we asked, but seemed slightly agitated to be there and had a sense of urgency for some reason. Overall, it was a great experience and we highly recommend Old Dominion for anyone looking for sushi and other typical Japanese offerings.

Good Sushi

From the first sip of a smoothie, my family was hooked! My 5yo says the chicken udon are the best noodles in the world. The 14yo felt like he was eating ramen out of his anime and my husband was wowed with his burger & fries. I had the best eel roll since I left the west coast. I think this is our new favorite!!

The sushi is great and good selection . My husband loves the burger. The reason for one less star is the service-its not always the friendliest and sometimes rushed.

Last week we had gotten the ramen, and it was really delicious, so my boss went again and picked some more up for her family. They too said it was amazing. So this week we got some lunch for the office from here. Drunken noodles, pad thai, and sushi and we all raved about it. I don't know how they manage a menu with so many items and variety of dishes, but they do it well. Compliments to the chef(s).

Never disappointed! Get the yin Yang shrimp or a burger. They have helped me introduce so many friends to sushi! Everyone there is so kind and they help you order the right amount for your party!

Old Dominion is one of those places near my house that I enjoy visiting time after time. Servers are attentive and food quality has been consistent.

What makes them stand out? The servers let us have our time to eat and talk without interrupting, which shows professionalism of the field. That may the main reason why I love going there.

So, my daughter graduated yesterday and requested dinner at this place. They could not accommodate a reservation for 6 people. We showed up at @ 5:10pm and we were hungry and ready to order. However, they took our drink order and then waited almost a 20 min before our order was taken. We had a 10 month old with us who was struggling to stay in his high chair bc he was hungry. At 6:10 an hour later they brought out the appetizer we ordered with no utensils along with the nuggets for our grandson. We were literally so hungry we are with our hands bc noone was paying attention to our table for service. We had to ask for drink refills. Then they brought out 2 of the dishes and we had to ask for napkins and utensils so 2 people could eat while the rest of us waited. Then they finally brought out the rest of the dishes and again we had to ask for refills and then after another 10 minutes they finally brought the other dishes. They forgot the soups that went with the first 2 dishes and we had to ask for that too. The 2 alcoholic drinks we ordered were weak and I don't even drink that often. It was like juice. $8 for juice. What a waste of $150. The service was just plain awful!!!! The food was good but not in any way worth the experience!!! Choose someplace else to eat if you are looking to eat in a timely manner with service worth the price!!!

I'd definitely have one & more sushi again

No use in writing a lengthy review for this place. All I can say is that they have hands down THE BEST SUSHI IN FREDERICK. We love this place and order sushi every few weeks from here. Always fresh, delicious, large sushi rolls. Employees are fantastic every single time. Must try!

It was just okay, nothing great or bad. Just very standard .

I went in for the shrimp ramen ($14) and I didn't like it at all. The broth wasn't good including the noodles which weren't cooked properly. I don't think I'll give it a second try unfortunately...

I love this place. Their the best and most fresh sushi in town. The staff is ok. The place is a little dated but when the food is quality, thats all that matters. Godzilla roll for the win !!

The food is always good lots of veggies. This was my view prior pandemic.

This review is now for 2022 I went into Old Dominion I order online and when I got there I changed the appetizer Becky was very rude and disrespectful every time I come in there she has a terrible disposition.

She also charged me $44 for order of $13 which I have not gone in to get my money back yet. But I do have my receipt hold on to your receipts and keep them until your purchase post to your account.

This was on March 17th 2022 at 1:39 afternoon. I'm not sure if Becky is this way with all customers. I am a black woman who lives here in Frederick and I'm 60 years old but she is always rude and nasty.

I will ask all black people to stop spending your money here if they don't respect you they don't deserve your money here in Frederick.

No matter how good it taste respect is number one.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Saw this place on a Facebook group and my fiancé and I love sushi and figured we would try it out. it was amazing. and we will definitely be returning.

The food has always been amazing and the staffs are always above and beyond!
We ordered the must-try YinYang shrimp for appetizer, Tonkotsu beef ramen, eel avocado rolls and Dragon rolls for dinner today - the food was chef's kiss (meaning 10 out of 10!) as always👏
The staffs take covid19 safety measurements seriously so we feel really safe whenever we dine in here during the pandemic.
We have been regular customers and will definitely come back for more delicious food from Dominion!

Not good sushi at all good pad thai. Thai tea tasted horrible do not get that. Overall I would find somewhere else for sushi.

OMG always great

Well thought I was getting good hibachi delivered--steak, scallops, fresh veggies and fried rice. Miso soup & sushi. Packaged very well except the sushi was sitting on top of hot soup and the hot "hibachi." Sushi was rather warm needless to say.... the hibachi was neither hibachi nor had fresh heated crisp veggies in my opinion as all 3 meals were placed in a runny heated veggie and sauce combo. Not likely to order again from here.

An unassuming facade and location conceals an absolute culinary gem for those who seek delicious Japanese fare. Rolled sushi is made to order, menu selections are abundant regardless of your dietary preferences, and the atmosphere is friendly and courteous.

Sushi was a bit on the small side but made up for it in quality. Everyone enjoyed their food a lot. It’s nice to see tempura not covered in a ton of soggy breading (the way it’s supposed to be) Only issue was that the steamed broccoli was a bit too raw

I only had the Bubble tea, which was delicious. My son had their sushi and loved it.

I love sushi and I love this place the sushi never disappoints and the customer service is phenomenal.

The sushi was really good and they had a large selection of specialty rolls. I got the dragonfly roll and the lava roll and both were amazing. Their roles are larger than other sushi restaurants. The service was great as well.

The food is really good, but there's this one aggressive waitress that makes me uncomfortable because she's always mad or has an attitude.

Ordered takeout. Received raw meat and some kind of bug in the sushi. I’m horrified. Never again.

1 star for lack of vegetarian and vegan options. All cooked dishes have animal based broth, no veggie sandwiches on the menu. Only thing for vegetarians/vegans is the sushi.

Great selection of sushi and other Asian type dishes. Service was very prompt and continuous. Portions generous. Beer selection surprisingly plentiful and varied.
