I was really looking forward to this place, and it satisfied a need, but I was underwhelmed. The online ordering is super great, so there's that. I had the spring roll and Thai iced tea same day and some entrees the next day. Skip the summer roll. While I normally love the soft crepes, there wasn't much to these. It's just tofu, cucumber, and iceberg lettuce, and with paltry filling, the rolls fall apart easily.
The mussaman curry is the winner for me. It has great peanut flavor, a generous serving of meat and vegetables, and a good spice level. As for the pad see ew and pas woonsen, it's basically the same seasoning with different components. The pad see ew is loaded with Western broccoli, a strong flavor the next day, and the pad woonsen has a lot of onion and canned mushrooms. Both were covered in black pepper.
Overall, it's a fine option in the area, but not someplace I'll go out of my way to try again.
I have been wanting to try a new Thai restaurant, and Smile of Siam was a good choice. We ordered a combo Platter for appetizers, and every one of the appetizers was outstanding. My favorite appetizer is the fried tofu. For the main course, we ordered 4 different Pad Thai , the duck, garlic, shrimp, and chicken tofu. The super duck dish I was looking forward to eating, but to be honest, I didn't like it much. It had a strong smell that made me set the dish aside. My absolute favorite is spicy chicken and tofu!! I wanna go back today and order the same oneπ€. Prices are reasonable. The service part was okay. We are planning to order takeout instead of dining in from now on since something inside or the smell inside worsened my son's asthma, and he didn't stop coughing the whole time we were there. Or maybe the plants inside triggered his allergies.
It was my first time having Thai food.. I loved the fried veggie rolls. They had the perfect flavor and crisp. I had the pad thai with beef. I added some peanut sauce. My husband had the pad thai with chicken. He added the homemade hot sauce to his. Both dishes were delicious. Our service was great. The man taking care of us was friendly, funny, hospitable, and very attentive. We were the only ones eating in, so that was a bonus in my book. We will be returning to try new dishes in the near future. I really want to try the Super Duck in the Chef's recommendations.
Don't miss out. The sweet lady who took care of us, didnt catch her name but we enjoyed everything! Very attentive & it was steady business.
Start with spring rolls, the dipping sauce was by far my latest favorite in the sauce kingdom. Sweet n' sour chicken is my recommendation. Crispy chicken, plenty of white rice its a solid choice if you're unsure. If you want a little spicy, then look no further----> Sriracha noodles. The egg & cabbage really set it off. Again, huge portion. Definitely shareable. If you're a fan of leftovers then no sharing!
The atmosphere alone is a little slice of serenity in Shorewood, plant life is lovely along with the fish. Cute little fountains. Cute everything.
My husband & i have done carry-out & dine in, there's only ten tables if that but the natural sunlight peeks in & it's roomy enough for a quick, DELICIOUS meal. Only complaint is they are closed Monday wouldn't you know we had a craving for it. Could be worse. Smiles of Siam is worth a visit.
Just tried Smile of Siam for the first time after living in the area forever. My only regret is not trying this place sooner! I ordered the drunken noodles and they were fantastic but everything everyone ordered at my table was amazing. Not only was the food fantastic, but the service was also excellent. Overall a great dining experience. I will definitely be back!
Small but beautifully designed place with great staff and fresh, tasty, and perfectly seasoned Thai food. This place is a bit hidden away from main streets but once you are in, you are treated well with amazing food and service. Definitely recommend and will visit again soon!
Great food, decent price, fantastic host. A real funny guy. ππΏ
Eklian where are you my friend. This place is amazing. Take your time and spend some of it there.
Friendly service and vegan choices

Huge proportions and very delicious

I love the woon sen pad thai and the Thai iced tea!!!
The staff is awesome and the food never disappoint
Both Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice were poor quality, shrimp wasnβt pealed or cooked fully - this place is a 3* tops
This place is the best in the area for this type of Thai! Great flavors, high quality and healthier options! Love them. Not a bad dish on menu!
Very nice atmosphere and friendly service. Love the fish and fountain in the restaurant.
It's so hard to find good Thai, almost every place in the area has been a let down. Even in the city it's hit or miss. till just one bad evening with no food in the house, no energy to cook and the only thing to save the day is some good Pad Thai. This place came in to save the day, not only was the pot stickers and crab Rangoon excellent, it's even passed the left over test. Don't be let down by disappointing Thai again just go to Smile of Siam!
Noodle dishes were good, portion size was large. Soup was very tasty but put off by mango sticky rice where the mango tasted rotten.
Absolutely delicious! I wish the fried rice was more spicy, but that's just me. Everything tasted fresh! The curry had more spice to it.
This is one of the best restaurants Iβve found in the area. A few times a year I meet with family in Joliet (halfway between us) and we try different restaurants. This place is definitely excellent. Food was great and large servings. Staff was very friendly and the restaurant is clean and welcoming! Will definitely be coming back!
I guess new owners. You must go. Very good food. Great service. My favorite Thai restaurant. You will not be disappointed. Another great meal and service. This place is awesome. You must try.
The server was very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was pleasant. But the food was very unpleasant. Having eaten at Thai restaurants all over the United States for the past 30 years and having lived in Thailand for six years. My wife cooks many of the Thai recipes. I can say objectively that this is some of the worst Thai food I have tried. My wife and I ordered spring rolls, massaman curry, tom kha tofu, and pad thai.
Spring Rolls. Instead of using a rice paper wrapper these had an egg roll wrapper--but it wasn't fried. They were stuffed with a fresh vegetables but I was surprised to find chopped iceberg lettuce with a brown oxidized coloring to it. One spring roll had the stem of the lettuce in it. A sweet sauce was liberally poured on top of the cut spring rolls so we couldn't control the amount of sauce we ate. It was sick sweet and we couldn't eat it. The server kindly replaced it with coconut tofu soup (tom kha tofu).
Tom Kha Tofu. It appeared to have been frozen. The broth was not milky white but a tan color and was watery, lacking richness. The flavor was overly sour.
Massaman Curry. The potatoes had the texture of a sponge and crunchy. It was clear this was frozen and microwaved. The flavor was overly sweet. The rice was mushy and room temperature. It was clear the rice had been sitting since morning or perhaps the day before.
The Pad Thai was made fresh and had a nice fired wok flavor. However, it was smothered with loads of sauce -- clearly pre-made -- as if it were a Chinese noodle dish. The typical fresh bean spouts and herbs, with some cucumber slices and a wedge of lime were not included.
Each dish came plain. If a person wanted any protein they would need to add $1.50 or $3.00 based on the protein desired.
We only ate about half of the food and don't plan to ever return.
Enjoyed a excellent meal celebrating my sons birthday! Plenty of food and reasonably priced. Excellent service
Great little shop. My favorite curry in the area!
The spring rolls are fire. Brought extra home.
Iβve ordered from here many times. Everything is delicious. Everything!! It comes packed neatly as well. I especially love the Thai Iced Teas, and havenβt tried a Noodle dish I didnβt love. My friend enjoys the green curry as well.
Wish I could give more stars! Also the inside is very calming and beautiful, need to definitely make plans to stay for a meal next time!
All time favorite restaurant. I don't live in the area anymore, but the food is always amazing and when Kimmy is working she is always lovely to talk to. The tom kha soup is phenomenal. I recommend the sample platter and eggplant noodle with peanut butter sauce.
I could smell how delicious this was going to be when I walked in. I have not 1 single regret making this travel detour.
Its ok. Good service. Food was ok.
best pad thai in the area hands down.
Excellent food.
My favorite restaurant in Shorewood. I usually get the Wonton soup and Tofu pad Thai. The food is always spot on whether you dine in or carry out and reasonably priced for the portion sizes.
Had a great experience definitely going again
The food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!
Amazing food !!!! I frequent a place in Chicago and nothing in suburbs has even compared until I found this place.
Best food and best service.
Very authentic tasting ! Will be back next week !!
One of the most authentic Thai restaurants I've been to here in Chicagoland! They serve the best Khao Soi noodles outside of Thailand, absolutely impressed! Cozy ambience and friendly service as well.
Excellent Thai food! We ordered the Basil ground chicken stir fry, Basil Noodle, and Pad Thai. All were phenomenal and our kids liked it too. Iβm a big foodie and I travel a lot and this is definitely one of the better Thai restaurants Iβve been to, and the best in this area.
I got the spring rolls and pad thai and they were both amazing! The waiter was very nice and the food didnβt take long at all. Definitely recommend if you like authentic thai.
Food was very good! Service was great! I was looking for someplace that had mango sticky rice and they had it. Was very good little short on the sticky rice portion but still was good!
Great food and service with generous portions!
Authentic and delicious foods, we so much enjoyed our foods, so we forgot to take pictures
Highly recommend if youβre looking for delicious Thai food, you can find here!!
Food and portion size was perfect, owner is hands on and gave us great service right before closing. Food was fresh and full of flavor. Will be coming back soon
I called to order carry out, the gentleman kindly asked me to hold, after about 20 seconds, the line disconnected. To my surprise, HE CALLED ME BACK. Thatβs never happened before. He was very helpful during the ordering process and when I picked up my order he was extremely polite and my order was spot on correct. He asked if I needed plastic ware and how many I needed. Everything with them was top notch and I will return for sure next time I am in town.
Great food amazing service.
Very nice restaurant, clean great food and reasonable prices. Everything i order, i like, never disappointed β€οΈ
Awesome place to eat for Thai food
Amazing food! Itβs hard finding a good Thai restaurant that isnβt overwhelming but this place was awesome! Definitely recommend!
The food was good. Served Quickly and with a smile. A little overgrown with fake plants and flowers. Always feel like there's no way to keep that cleaned regularly. Would do take out next time.
I have been wanting to try a new Thai restaurant, and Smile of Siam was a good choice. We ordered a combo Platter for appetizers, and every one of the appetizers was outstanding. I live 25 minutes away from this place and i don't like to Drive, even then i would still make that uncomfortable and anxious drive to come here because everything was that amazing, my party ordered the appetizer platter (6 different food items) and i had probably the best Crab Rangoon i have ever had and the other 5 foods were great as well and our EntrΓ©es were just as delicious, i came to this place as it was recommended when asking around for a place to eat for my birthday meal and i can fully get behind on recommending this to any Thai food enjoyers
Food was delightful. Had a satay chicken, soup, basil duck and garlic chicken. All wonderful. Chicken dish was mostly meat. Duck was sparse in that dish, but I understand the disparity. Both delicious. Appetizers both amazing. $50 lunch for two seems heavy, but large portions made that seem fair. Staff so Friendly and helpful with menu. Will definitely be back!
Food was excellent

Yellow currie and jasmine rice was wonderful.
The food was delicious, and the portions were worth the price. I loved the ambiance, and the service was warm as well as welcoming.
Lived in the area over 25 years. To think we have missed eating here for 25 years. Everything on our carry out order was amazing.
I drive all around the Chicago land for work and this place impressed me. Well done.
No lunch menu, just higher priced dinner menu.
The kind woman at the front desk is such a breath of fresh air!
This place has some of the most delicious Thai food that I have ever eaten. The place is a small hidden gem that is warm and inviting and the staff are super friendly. My husband and I shared pot stickers; he had peppered steak and I had pineapple red curry.
Smile of Siam will now go into rotation with dining in and delivery. π€
Recently I had an AMAZING experience with this restaurant. I spoke with Kim at length to ensure I was ordering food for delivery, properly, and also ensuring that I was ordering enough food for a very special occasion. She was patient, kind and extremely helpful in ensuring all of my goals were met. I cannot thank Kim enough for her help! As far as the food goes, my best friend, that is a total foodie, said it was amazing! She and her family were on the receiving end and grateful in receiving such fabulous food. I was able to taste it and I absolutely concur. I would definitely order again! Authentic, fabulous thai food with phenomenal service!!! Thanks agsin Kim! You exemplify outstanding customer service!!
Nice little restaurant - excellent pineapple fried rice and pepper steak. Friendly server. Weβll be back.
Nice dine-in atmosphere. Prompt service. Great food.
The food here is so fresh and delicious
If I can go here everyday I would, food is great and so are the staff. I usually get the yellow curry which is my favorite. Wish I could try everything here but I can't have spicy food, but I'm sure it still tastes good.
Small but beautifully designed place with great staff and fresh, tasty, and perfectly seasoned Thai food. This place is a bit hidden away from main streets but once you are in, you are treated well with amazing food and service. Definitely recommend and will visit again soon!
I love this gem of a Thai restaurant! Great service! Authentic!
Their beef pad Thai was perfect the family really enjoyed their meals.
New to the area and can not say enough about how good this food is! Had pot stickers, Tom Kha w chicken, chicken satay, and pad thai chicken and they were all delicious!!! Moved to the area, originally from the city - I considered myself spoiled and this makes me REALLY HAPPY! FIVE BIG STARS!!!
Not for us. Food was just two sweet, that was the main βspiceβ nothing special. Food was just to bland. It was not worth the price. First and last time ordering
I did not like the food or the atmosphere. I had pad see ewe and it was flavorless, chicken was tough, and just wasn't good. Also the single stall bathroom had no lock on it, so I had to use the female bathroom, which the woman behind the counter told me I couldn't because it was for ladies.
The place seems fine but the pad Thai was not good. It was just noodles and chicken with carrots as garnish, and it was very sweet. One of my colleagues had red curry and said the curry was very sweet too.
This place has lovely decor, and it was quiet and peaceful. The lady who took my order got my food ready for me very quickly (I ordered green curry with tofu). Enjoyed every bite of my food, and I also loved the beautiful Asian music that was playing in the background. I need to come back here every possible chance I get. I really like this place.
Always very fresh I tell everyone about this restaurant
Amazing food! Very cozy and awesome atmosphere and great service!
Very small portions and overpriced. Thereβs way better Thai places out there. Stay away. Very disappointed that I decided to give this place my business.
I just noticed the $70 charge from this weekend and it absolutely wasn't worth half of that. My grandson sent his back once but didn't like the second option.
Fantastic food, friendly service, reasonable price.
Very cute little place! The food was good and generously portioned. Gotta get that veggie roll appetizer!
Best Thai food in town.
I ordered beef and papaya salad tonight, which I usually get when traveling, but tonight was very disappointing. I couldn't understand what cut of meat they used as it was chewy and the sauce was weird. The papaya salad was just papaya, tomato, green beans and peanuts. The sauce was just lime juice. Where's the fish sauce? This is not authentic Thai cuisine. I'm never going here again. Not sorry.
Love the food here. I always get the Pad Thai with tofu... They make it vegan too if you ask for no egg and no fish sauce which is really cool. Staff is friendly and the food is always done quick.
Our favorite Thai food restaurant ever
Great place! Ordered online and called them so they had food right when we arrived. We had been driving all day from Iowa, and food was on the table when we walked in the place around 7:50 pm. It was really nice to eat in ~20 mins and then go to the hotel because the kids were getting cranky after all the driving. Thank you!
Have been here a couple times. They have some good options. Great little spot.
The first fried rice I have really liked. Gf had shrimp fried rice, and I had the green curry. We live in Oswego but might have to take a trip back here it was so good!
Every dish I have tried is 10/10
Everything we've had has been good quality and fresh
I always loved their soup, very light and perfect on a rainy day. This soup is one of my favorites and as I was next door waiting on an appraisal I ran next door for their soup. Got to try it! I do got the name but it is win ton soup with shrimp. So tastyβ!
The staff is always very friendly and you can strike up a conversation easy with.
I will be back!
I like this place but I'm not getting forced into using delivery service from apps that upcharge.
Funny this place is called Smile of Siam, because nobody working there seems to be smiling or friendly. But feelings aside, on the note of business, the price is not that great for the food they offer, and the pepper steak isn't anything like their competitors.
No bean sprouts in the Pad Thai. Runny. Canned mushrooms in the Tom Yum.
My gf and I stopped en route for dinner (Friday evening). The decor is really welcoming and the staff is friendly and courteous. However, the food quality was less than desirable. Our appetizer, spring rolls, unfortunately came with the tamarind sauce all over it. This had two negative effects: (a) the spring rolls were now warm, and (b) the dish was unedible because they put an excessive amount of the tamarind sauce, which made the spring rolls taste like sugar/honey. My entree, crazy noodles, seemed to have very overcooked noodles (no bite, no texture), and again, having too much sauce. I regret not sticking with a rice-based dish. For what it's worth, my gf enjoyed her friend chicken rice entree.
Perhaps, their other dishes are prepared better, but at least two of them were a miss.
We came in to dine just after 4pm. Walking in felt like walking into a jungle. In the center of the room, they have a small pond with dozens of tiny fish inside. It was empty, quiet, and pleasant.
The waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered hot tea, Pad Thai with duck, green curry with chicken, cashew fried rice, and Thai fried rice. The food was the best Thai we've had in Illinois!
As this restaurant is small, off-peak times would be best for dining. They do takeout and a few delivery services, also.
Nice place and delicious food
Very small inside. Food is really good
Very good Thai place weβve ordered from a few times. Food is always good and they have a very good selection of dishes that you can customize with various meats and veggies. The fried rice was decent and the won ton soup was ok, but my spicy basil chicken was very good. Also, my wifeβs panang curry was delicious!
My favorite thai spot in joliet area π
Good portions good taste. Average price.
Wonderful experience. All the kids loved and begged to come back soon. Loved all the plants and fish. Food was excellent! Kids especially liked their pineapple refried rice dish.
We are from a couple towns over, where there are two Asian restaurant options and neither are very good, and happend to be traveling through Shorewood. Having been craving decent Asian food, we researched a place close by and found this 4 star Thai establishment. We decided quickly that this would be the place.
So, at just after 4:00, we walked in to a fake plant jungle with stained carpet on the floors and a dingy overall atmosphere. That should've dissuaded us, but it didn't. Sometimes the best food can be found at these holes in the wall, so we forged ahead.
We started with the sample platter, and for $13 we got a couple small, greasy vegetable egg rolls, a couple of weird wrapped shrimp, some kind of shrimp nugget, 2 dried pot stickers, and a few small pieces of curry chicken. The best I can say is that the chicken wasn't too bad.
My wife and I both got separate pasta dishes. Both were loaded with the mushiest pasta I can imagine. The flavor was super meh, and the texture very yuck. We got my daughter the chicken nuggets, which were actually flavorless pieces of tempura chicken with a grease filling. Not good. Though, she did eat most of it, so I'm adding a star for that.
Now don't get me wrong...I was able to eat all of my meal. It wasn't awful, but it also wasn't good. I'll certainly never go back.
Great food and service !
Authentic and delicious Thai food
Food was served cold, but portions were hot. That lead me to believe that they prepared the chicken beforehand and just added it in to the plate.
Delicious Thai food every time
My family and I have eaten here multiple times We have never gotten a bad meal. The people who work there are pleasant and the decor is beautiful. I had never eaten Thai food before and they got me hooked. And the price is great about 20 per person with apps. It is byob but the supply glasses, ice and even bottle opener if you need it.
Tasty food, good packaging and on-time delivery. The only not good thing is that they sent me plastic utensils which I didnβt ask for.
It was ok. The server was cool but the food was not be greatest. The veggies we're raw and the whole dish had no flavor. I ordered the spicy basil beef and for some reason it had chicken in it too, wouldn't be bad if the chicken tasted fresh. There was probably two pieces of basil in the whole dish and it wasn't spicy at all. I asked for hot sauce and I got this sweet and spicy sauce that made it worse. Average Thai restaurant prices.
First time customers for lunch. The staff was very patient and helpful. The food was delicious and reasonable. We will be back.
First time here. Very good experience. We all left happy π
We ordered take out. The food tastes so much like what we had while we were in Thailand. Good job. Next time we travel through this area, we're going to have to come back.
This place has been my go-to Thai for some time, but that was based primarily on proximity. Tonight, however, they have solidified themselves as my favorite Thai restaurant. They recently added duck as a protein option (makes up for lack of pork), and tonight I had that in my Pad Woonsen. It is the single best most flavorful Thai dish (that doesn't rely on spicy heat) I think I have ever had. The veggies were crisp, the noodles were perfect, and the protein was dense and plentiful.
The Tom Kah soup was also terrific, but that has always been one of my favorites from Smile, anyhow. Pad Thai, Pad See Ewe, and Basil Fried Rice are our other favorites from here. The Woonsen, though... This dish reigns supreme.
I am not sure if this restaurant has changed ownership, but in our opinion it used to be much better. We have been going here for many years and loved the food! Now whatever dish we order itβs like ordering soup. The last few times we had pickup, they gave us a container with sauce and a tiny container with noodles. I always order their noodle dishes, so thatβs what I would expect to get, not soup. Donβt know if weβll be ordering again.
Always the freshest and spiciest Thai food. Delicious π
I love Thai Coffee
Love Thai food here. The food was fresh and delicious! Service was also great and Staff was awesome.
My problem is that there is too many bugs there. U got flies flying everywhere. I didn't like the tea and the food is okay.
We liked the food until we found bugs. I went to dump the food into a larger container and there where flies at the bottom.
Great small place. I ordered the Tom Kha Soup. It was incredible, and had awesome flavors. I found a new place to frequent.
Thank you!
Amazing Atmosphere, Very friendly and welcoming staff, and the food was phenomenal!! Will definitely be back!
Food was so GOOD!! I had the green curry and the tom ka soup! Yummmm!!!
Good food. Thai ice tea was the best. Large portion size. Left feeling full with leftovers. Very good will return. The chicken satay appetizer was awesome. The pain Thai was good too.
Vegetables were watery, lm certain they were frozen.
Good and consistent Thai food. Great customer service!
Tasty food, but I had a bug in my meal tonight. I donβt find this acceptable at all and I wonβt be back. I have no idea how clean their kitchen is kept.
Iam going to this Thai restuarant to eat Thai food 24/7!!!))
Wonderful. Our server took pride in the food and service. He may have been the owner. Pleasant decor and nice choices on the menu. So happy to have found this place.
The food was fresh and delicious! Service was also great! Staff was awesome.π
One of my favorites!!!
Delicious.....a good place to eat.
Came back for the panang curry dish! It's just as great as a remembered it. Now I'm ready to try some other remarkable dishes! Love this place!
Very good
