Spicy curries, noodles & other traditional Thai fare served in small, comfy quarters.
Good restaurant that's well established. The food is as good as I remeber it. Good portions, flavor and reasonably priced. Satay chicken comes in 4 pieces with traditional peanut sauce along with cucumber side. We also had Pad Thai, Green curry, and Pad Siew. You can always ask for the ground chilli, chilli sauce and fish sauce w Thai chili if you're on the adventures side and like things spicy. Cheers!
my partner and I have been looking for a very good thai spot seeming the one we used to go to closed it's doors. Then we came across Thai Smile.
Walking in the atmosphere is chill,
Food was very good from the crab Rangoon and the egg rolls down to the main entrees which were chicken pad Thai & catfish garlic.
We asked for medium spicy and that's what we got. Every bite was delicious. We recommend you try out Thai Smile for yourself if you are looking for a good place to eat. We left content and full. π€π€
Nice quiet spot to eat. The food was good but not spicy enough for me. I usually go for as hot as I can get it but didnβt seem to be an option here. But the service was good and I left feeling satisfied.
Found this little gem tucked along/off Harlem Ave (Palos Heights,Il). Itβs BYOB.The food was good quality, fresh, moderately sized portions, & lunch for two was about $50. Here are a couple pics of the inside dining area, crab rangoon, spring rolls. Forgot to take pics before we dived in. Still, Iβd recommend this spot for a local Thai lunch. Itβs kind of dark inside, and the outside doesnβt have much curb appeal, but for lunch, it was just fine.
I was a little worried due to recent poor reviews, but we decided to see for ourselves. Ordered a red curry dish and pad thai. Everything was nicely cooked, fresh ingredients. Just wish it would've been spicier. Better restaurants usually ask how spicy you want it. We did ask for some chili sauce to ramp up to the spice level I prefer. Nice Thai decor, free parking. Not bad overall.
The prices are great the food is really good. Staff was really nice and the place was cute. The only thing I would say is it's a weird spot for parking so try to come in off peak hours or just be prepared to walk about half a block.

I've been going here for almost 25 years. Food never disappoints.
It says they're open on Tuesdays but no one is answering the phone- have they changed which days they're closed?
My daughter and I have been going there for 20 years. Bring your own π· wine coolers and have a great time.

Overpriced and small portion sizes. They taste good though!
been going here since the 90s when Sam owned it. moved south to manteno and stil come back. it's the best
The boba and food is amazing!
My family and I come here often and love the food! Everything is so consistently delicious. We have many different dishes and have not ever been disappointed!
I visited my parents over this holiday season and they know I love a specific Thai food dish. They wanted to take me out so I found this place and I'm so glad I convinced them to make the drive. It was the best Pad Si Eiw (however it's spelled. Seems like every place spells it differently) I ever tasted. I normally never finish the whole plate but I just couldn't stop eating it. Even my parents loved what they ordered (some kind of lobster soup and a pepper steak soup), which is really saying something if you know my parents. 10/10 would recommend. Oh yeah. They had 2 Pad Si Eiw options. The normal with broccoli but also one with asparagus and I got the asparagus one which still also had broccoli. It was perfect.

It was a cute place, very decorated & tidy. I had the chicken pad thai and thai ice tea. Both were very good. The one size is good for two or three people in my opinion. The spring rolls werenβt what I was expecting but I think I need to read descriptions better. It was a little expensive if youβre by yourself but tbh what isnβt these days? I didnβt have to wait long at all, oh and highly recommend getting an extra side of penut sauce its really good.
Delicious. Everything was great. We ordered chicken fried rice, Bangkok chicken and red curry. Service was excellent!

The prices were astronomical considering the portion sizes were rather small. Not sharing portions-very much individual meal sizes.
Great food, great servIce.
Friendly people

Great food. My new go to Thai place
Literally the most delicious, happy tummy making goodness!! Everything was so delicious!! Made my night:)
Delicious food
Good seafood fried rice
A hidden gem of the burbs! The food never disappoints and staff is friendly! Recommend panang, chicken satay, tempura veggies and so much more!
Food was good, nothing special
We come here at least every other week. Everything weβve tried has been great. The owner/server is so nice and friendly. Plus they are BYOB!
Always tasty food
Great takeout! Panang and Yum Tokar Curries plus the duck are my go-to entrees. The satay and the Vietnamese Spring Rolls are excellent.
I have been searching for so long to find a good Thai restaurant. I finally found one I really enjoyed eating there. I ordered a chicken pad Thai, Thai iced tea which was a little to sweet but drinkable just add ice and the most delicious fried banana. I am definitely coming back. I will share this with my family and friends! YUM!!!!
The food is super bland and all the sauces are watered down. There's a wet basement smell that doesn't go away until 30 minutes in.. when your food is delivered. It looks like the only reason the place gets business is because of the BYOB. If I could give zero stars then I would but the lady serving was really nice. Ordered the red curry... Looked like a white curry... Vegetables were undercooked and super crunchy. The edamame was definitely microwaved.
.
This is great local Thai place run by really sweet people who know how to make an excellent curry! The noodles are top notch too. We get takeout here now almost weekly.
I have been coming here for around 2 years now since discovering Pad Thai and I can never get enough. Reasonable prices, kind staff who is very hospitable, and the flavors are immaculate. If I ask them to remove something in the dish, they eagerly do it. If I ask any questions, they are happy to answer. Take out and dining in, I will always trust Thai Smile to get it done right!
My favorite Thai place! Their food is the best! Love the tofu panang and pad kra pao!!! Bo is the best, nicest, friendliest server ever!!! I highly recommend this place!!!πππ
Awesome food, great service... Yum Nua is a must, basil beef/chicken or cashew chicken is a can't miss, love the spring rolls and it's BYOB! One cook and one hostess just doing great things there!
Food just extremely bland and the orange chicken was a waste of my money.
Not good.
Long wait
Great Thai dishes at good prices . Just remenber its BYOB but they have no shortage of wine glasses .
Chicken pad Thai is pretty good. Weird that it is pink but good flavor and would definitely order it again. The chicken satay was delicious π€€ and the peanut sauce, just a smidge bit spicy. Portions arenβt the usual GIGANTIC portions, donβt plan to make multiple meals out of it. Definitely worth the money and a huge bonus is BYOB!
Great egg rolls and SERVICE !!!
Unassuming location. Warm decor. Respectful efficient service. Excellent spring rolls and the ginger chicken was perfectly ginger spicy with fresh vegetables bursting with flavor. I'll be back to try the tempura pad thai and a garlic dish. β€β€
Live this place. A little hidden spot.
Great Thai restaurant.
We love this place! Supporting it during the pandemic. Food is delicious, service great, nice atmosphere. Have been coming here for many years.
Food was great, only dine in thai restaurant i found in the area. Service was also great and service was amazing.
Delicious food--- Ingredients are always fresh. You can take your time dining. The people are hard working and gracious.
The pad see ew is the best and the prices are great. Pad thai was better in the past.
Food good overall but the spring rolls could be described as :
Wack, bunk, dry, inedible, trash, janky, bleh, sorry, etc...OR any adjective or phrase that would imply that they were disgusting and should never be served let alone sold to any human or living person. If I found them after being stranded or held in captivity without food, starvation wouldn't be enough motivation to choke down these "things" they attempted to pass as food. To make it clear F*** the spring rolls
Very nice customer service, fast cooking time, and yummy Thai food. Would recommend the Basil Fried Rice!
Excellent food!
Absolutely amazing food and the service was excellent!
Very good meal & service!
Great food great service
Fantastic service, appetizers really fresh, excellent pepper steak with a ton of flavor and vegetables. Will be visiting again soon.
"For an appetizer, try the fried tofu, spring rolls, shrimp & vegetable tempura."
We dined in. The staff were very nice. The prices were very good. The flavor of the food needed a little something else. Just a touch bland.
Been coming here for years and honestly the food is amazing. I love their garlic chicken and pad thai. Their pineapple fried rice is the best. You should definitely give them a try all their dishes are great.
Great place. The seasonings and ingredients they use are absolutely mouth watering delicious.
ive loved their food since i was little, the staff is great and the food is so good
Always have a great experience, food is very good and service is prompt.
Consistently good food and friendly service. Been at this location for at least 10+ years and for good reason.
Yellow curry was good. The pad Thai is pink... and not good. ** Photo taken after I mixed in garlic chili sauce. It was dry, like they forgot to put in the sauce... Also, barely any chopped onions and fix-ins (bean sprouts, peanuts, etc). I like my pad Thai on the saucier side so it made it doubly disappointing. I know people are trying to make a living, so I'll givem another shot!
I enjoyed the food very much. Egg rolls were delicious and fresh.
This has been my go-to Thai place for over ten years always a great treat!
Delicious tofu panang and very quick, courteous service! Cannot wait to order from them again!
This place is absolutely amazing. We used to order lunch from here all the time at work, but hadn't ordered in several months since we were trying to cut back on ordering out and there's also another Thai place that in walking distance of our store. Well today we ordered from Thai Smile as a treat, and of course the food was fantastic (as per usual), but the lady taking my order remembered my weird special orders! Then, right before we went to pick it up, I remembered that they had brown rice, which I prefer to white rice, but most places don't have it or charge like $2 extra for it (which I think is ridiculous). I was annoyed I forgot to ask for it when I ordered, but it was too late to call. Well, when I sat down to eat and opened my rice-it was brown rice! They remembered me and went out of their way for us! Talk about amazing customer service! Plus, the inside of the restaurant is super cute. I definitely recommend checking them out (plus their tofu mussaman curry is the best)!
Quiet....good food....
Great service very good food
I ordered a tomar curry through doordash but once I saw what it was I realized I didnβt like it. I called to see if I could get it replaced and they happily replaced it with the red curry which was delicious. Thank you !
Pineapple Chicken Curry was super!
Absolutely the best service to here!! Food is delicious.
Great food at decent prices. Friendly staff and quick service.
I liked it. The food π² was cooked fresh and it was piping hot β¨ when I sat down to eat an hour after taking the food π² home. The lady @ the front taking my order was very, very nice. This was my first visit, I'll need to revisit for 5 stars β¨.
I ordered a noodle with shrimp and beef.
I asked for it to be a little spicy, she said medium. I said ok, anyways, she said 15-20min.
I get there in 15 min and get a bowl full noodles, 3 pieces of shrimp, a few pieces of beef. Anyways it wasnβt warm, I got less then I expected, and the shrimp/beef wasnβt fully cooked. It came out to $14.15 I gave her 15$ and to keep the change. Honestly never going back.
Delicious get here and try it.
Great food! Always have leftovers
This has been one of my favorite restaurants sice high school, but I hadn't been going much until the last couple of years. My boyfriend and I are now regulars to the point that we don't get menus (don't change our order), Bo (spelling?) automatically brings me warm water, and she even knows who we are half way through a phone order <3 It's unassuming from the outside, but so, so good.
The vietnamese spring rolls are the best at this restaurant.
We were the only people in the place for lunch hour. And it took a long time to get our food. The crab Rangoon literally had nothing in it, a very light layer of stuff inside. Our lunch entrees were good, but overall place wasn't staffed and it's lunch and took too long.
Always fresh, friendly and phenomenal. Iβve had Thai all over Chicago. This is my favorite. The basil chicken is fabulous, as are the Vietnamese spring rolls, and the Pepper Steak.
Pad Thai is yummy, and curries are all great.
good food n service
Clean, friendly and quiet in a Tuesday evening. Waitress was nice and service was very good. The Thai veg. Egg rolls were amazing. Entrees were spicy, but not crazy hot. Flavors were very good. I've had some slightly better Thai, but Thai Smile is a winner.
Good for take out I like the Shrimp Pad Thai. Decent customer service.
Best Thai I've had since I was in San Diego. Many dishes I want to try. I will return soon.
Cozy. Good, healthy food. BYOB. Owners are so nice.
Love this little local treasure. Good food, good prices, and the owner and waitress is nice. My favorite is curry, pad Woon Sen, and pot stickers.
Iβve been here several times. It is an amazing little restaurant. The service is very quick and good! Food is exquisite. Iβve had their Thai tea and it was also delicious. I would 100% recommend it. This is THE place I take family members that are visiting and I pick for my birthday!
I was there for a late lunch/early dinner, unbelievably the place was empty. This place needs to be put on the map. The food is Soo good, the server was very kind, I strongly recommend this place. No alcohol is served here.
Best Thai food ever! Such a hidden gem! Great service and amazing food!
I've visited countless Thai restaurants around the country and this place is still my favorite. I suggest: Vietnamese spring rolls, all curries, Tomkar and the garlic entree. Their iced coffee is also great!
We felt this was a fairly priced restaurant. We received polished service and enjoyed our dinner. My pad thai had just the right amount of sweetness.
Great times with friends - low key atmosphere and with the BYOB, low cost.
Great food!!! Love this place!!!
Food was very good and desserts were delicious. Service was a little slow with one person running the restaurant, worth a visit.
Great thai food, carrot salad my favorite
Excellent food and great customer service.
Nice cozy place for thai food. We like that it is a BYOB but they don't have wine glasses and you would have to drink from a small water glass. So we brought our own. Good food, reasonable prices.
I eat thai every chance I get and thai smile is my absolute favorite.
Nice
Great place been going here more than 30 yrs.
Eggplant delight with beef. Must learn to make this at home its so good.
Great fresh authentic Thai food. BYOB works great.
Awesome food for good prices
Good food, did smell a bit. But smell goes away
Best Thai in the neighborhood! Great service. Although, closed on Mondays but other than that great food!
Great little off the beatin path place. Food is good and it's BYOB. Good night out!
Good food
Not impressed with my food at all. The flavor was missing and it didn't meet any of my expectations for the price. I will not be returning.
Great food and service!
Really good food!
Great food, Good portions, very nice staff
Love Thai and this is one of my favorites. Great food, very friendly people. It's BYOB, so you can have your favorite beverage with dinner at about half the price.
excellent Pad Thai
What a wonderful surprise to stumble upon this hidden gem! Definitely very cozy but the servers are so nice and literally running to attend to all the tables so it must mean they are very busy and therefore, doing something right!
This definitely hit the spot for my craving for Thai food, very modestly priced too!
Thai Smile is one of those little hidden jems that you wish you would have discovered long before. The Service, atmosphere, and most importantly food all are stellar.
Don is a culinary genius, his food has complex flavors and you can taste all the different notes of whatever you eat. His food explodes in your mouth with flavor. It's very obvious he crafts his recipes with years of experience and the love for cooking. It's like going on a culinary vacation through Thailand. You will definitely smile after eating at Thai Smile!
Not impressed. Lousy food. I am familiar with Thai food and this was awful. My husband didn't enjoy his meal either. Not going back.
The best Thai place in the suburbs hands down. I have yet to have a bad dish from Thai Smile. The dining area is smaller so there may be a wait during busier times. BYOB as well so be advised if you wish to drink.
Great food, great service, great prices, BYOB, can't be beat.
Enjoy your favorite dish here. The chef makes great appetizers and main dishes. Even tofu is made well and enjoyable. Panang is just right. Nothing special, but just good food. The table service is slow. Other than that, you must ask for spicy hot if you want it. They can provide any level of heat.
The lady was nice but never came back to check on me. I would also argue it was Chinese food more than Thai. But it has a Thai name so you won't know! :)
Have been coming to this restaurant for at least the last five years. In all that time have never been disappointed. Tried almost everything on the menu. Their sweet and sour chicken is wonderful. And the prices are so reasonable.
Been to Thailand so this is where I go for good Thai food. Chicken boot stickers are wonderful.
The best duck ive had in a while.
Small place with small prices and good food.
The BEST Thai food I have had out of about 3 dozen chicagoland Thai restaurants I have visited.
For an appetizer, try the fried tofu, spring rolls, shrimp & vegetable tempura.
Then move on to the pad see eiw.
Share a bottle of Reisling, Moscato, or some citrusy pale ale or IPA.
Unbeatable.
I would have rated at 2 but the tum yum soup was good. My husband and I ordered Pad Thai it was like refried noodles without any spices. Perhaps the most plain tasting noodles I've ever tried. They also forgot my peanut sauce. Vietnamese spring rolls we're also at best mediocre.
Been dining here for 10 years best spot and friendly service. The wAiter always puts a smile on my face and never forgets my order. If your looking for a small cute little place with amazing quality food this is the place
Absolutely my and my friends favorite Thai food craving solution!!! Uber friendl, chill atmosphere and best of all is the delicious cuisine! You owe it to your belly, come and eat here!
Love their pineapple curry with chicken!
This place is so great. Whether you want a quiet, un-rushed evening without complications or just a nice carryout dinner it's perfect every time. Not sure if people had an isolated bad experience before (or maybe you're just pretentious), but I can count on great food in a laid back friendly environment every single time. Highly recommend this place.
And the guy who blamed Google maps and said it's closed.... learn how to READ the map! They are very much open and a fixture in Palos Heights.
small, neighborhood place with fantastic people- BYOB so it can be an incredibly reasonable night out. No one rushes you. Service can be a little slow with a big group because it is such a small place but they genuinely want their customers to be happy and do whatever they can to make it happen
Not sure what the one guy was complaining about. I order carry-out from here every week or two, and I always get utensils, hot sauce, napkins, etc.
The food is delicious. Their egg rolls are the best around, and I'm a big fan of their Basil Beef.
THAI FROWN:
Ordered carryout from this place once. The food is mediocre and the service is poor at best. I didn't get any napkins or utensils and if you want sauce it's an additional charge which they don't tell you, but most reasonable individuals would assume atleast one sauce is included with the meal. Needless to say I will not be visiting here again.
Update your stuff google maps, tgis isn't open anymore.
We read the reviews on this place and decided to try this place out and took the drive (12 miles away). Needless to say, we went out of our way. The food was [just] okay. And the prices were reasonable. The service, on the other hand, was overrated. The guy seemed like he was in a bad mood and put a bad taste in our mouths from the start. He was not helpful when asked for recommendations and projected a cold and unwelcome attitude.
This may be a good place for Palos Heights residents, but NOT worth the drive. Will not go back. We will go back to our spot: Benjarong in Westchester. 22nd and Mannheim (much further for us but worth the drive and also BYOB)
Great BYOB place. It doesn't look like much, but go there in the evening, and the ambiance is great.
