Casual Thai spot with a large menu of faves including pad thai & curries in a brick & wood space.
My kids love the food and my husband and I think it's great! Most of what I ordered from here is really good and the wait staff is on top of things. I've had Thai I'm other places and thus is the best.... now that I've tested almost everything on their menu, I can say it's one of the best Thai restaurants known to us! It's a must try, BONUS IT'S BYOB!
I was underwhelmed with my visit to Opart. I had heard such great things and they just didn't meet my expectations. The food was good, but not for the price. I might give it a second try, but we'll see. There are so many other Thai places that deliver amazing food at a better value.
Some of the best Thai food I've had in the city! Watch out, if you like your food spicy, be careful what you wish for. I usually ask for my food to be spicy, but at Opart, they don't skimp on the spice. I really enjoyed their curry as well. Such a great spot and BYOB too! Just swing by the liquor store next door and you can grab a nice drink to walk in with and enjoy your thai feast.
Went here based on all the positive reviews. Tiger Cry is good, but not the standout in was expecting from all the mentions. Papaya salad was a tasty appetizer alternative. Tried peanut lover and Penang curry for the entrees. The sauces they make are clearly richer and note flavorful than a lot of Thai places, that was the biggest difference I noticed. It is BYOB - go just north for a good selection.
Without a doubt this is the best Thai restaurant I've visited in Chicago. It's far out of the way from my home but will worth a long drive. For those who like spicy Thai, the hot food here is genuinely hot. The menu is varied and great for vegetarians.
I'm stilly trying out all the menu options, but the quality of the service and the food has been consistently good. I love the reasonable prices and the convenient location and Opart has quickly become my new favorite Thai spot.
Also, the pot stickers are HUGE, which is like +100 in my book!
Our food was mediocre, a bit on the sour side. I did not enjoy my dinner. It was 1.5hr before closing. No one greeted us to be seated. They just stared.. why? There was a young lady with her arms crossed who looked not to happy to see us. We felt rushed and bothered. The atmosphere was just so tense. I won't be coming back.
Excellent!
Excellent place. I'll miss the Western location
Great beef fried rice
Stop by not open yet but looks very intriguing can't wait to test the food will let you all know give it a three stars for good location right across the street from the train station
Edit: looks like they've closed this location and moved to the other two. 😞
Great food (comes out super quick), great prices, and friendly service. They have a lot of space, and a really nice atmosphere. Great for groups (though you might want to call ahead) and are BYOB (with a couple places nearby you can walk to that for that).
Service was great, place is clean and beautiful, but the foods...not so much... Thai foods are usually well accepted by our palate, but sadly we didn't like the foods here.. No hygiene issue though..
Out of the many Thai restaurants in the Lincoln Square area, this one is my favorite. The spring rolls are absolutely amazing and the way the noodles and peanut sauce compliment each other in the Pad Thai dish, it makes a truly delicious pair.
Opart Thai has never disappointed me. I've ordered the Pad Paak Roum Mit, Pad King, and Pepper Steak. All of them were delicious. Also, the Thai iced tea was great! As far as city pricing goes, Opart Thai is very reasonable (part of that is because it's BYOB). The staff here is friendly, and really just no complaints.
Great place, love the appetizer selection, especially the Tiger Cry. All food is good here, some of the best Thai in the area.
Great staff service and quality. The food was deemed authentic from a Thai friend and some of the curry is even made from scratch on site!
I like to tell myself "be honest with yourself", and so I speak as if I were giving directions or constructive criticism to my own reflection [through the mirror]. Let nobody feel attacked, discouraged or offended through my own experience, but rather things to watch (or look out) for.
With that being said, I went here on a Friday night (March 9, 2018) to enjoy some quality Thai food, one of my preferred dishes. I started with some Chicken Satay as appetizers (chicken on skewers served with warm peanut sauce, cucumbers and little bit of pepper). The peanut sauce had been cold and solid [as opposed to being very warm and fluid-like]. I then ordered the first entry, Pad See-Ewe with fried eggs, beef and chicken. When it came, I almost threw up due to the foul odor it contained (wreathed of foul/spoilt egg/raw chicken meat). I assumed it was from mixing meat with egg, but I thought "how come?", because I always got the same thing when ordering that dish at Thai restaurants and never had that issue.
I communicated this issue with my waitress and she went and fetched another waiter, someone familiar with the dish. They asked me how I would like it modified. I reordered the same thing, but this time with no meat; just eggs. Again, it had the same foul odor. I thought "OK, perhaps our favorite dish is beefing with us tonight... pfft, what a chicken". [Pun very much intended].
I decided to go with a curried fried rice mixed with beef and eggs. This time, the foul odor was so strong my gag reflex activated a few times at once! I don't know what was going on in that kitchen, but when I requested for my bill, I got charged for ALL 3 entrees that I never touched. I was too nauseated at this time to stand there disputing all these charges. I'm no fan of Trump but as he would have put it: "@OpartThai really bad experience!"
Love this place. Good food, lots of well executed Chicago Thai restaurant staples. Great decor, and many rooms capable of holding large and small groups in appropriate settings.
Very good quality Thai food. A nice experience.
Love this place, I have had 3 birthday parties there already and go at least 2/3 times a month
Best thai food in chicago .. Im addicted to it now
Tasty food, and quick service. Have been going to this restaurant for many years with my Thai friend who really likes their cooking
Good Thai food
Always consistently good food and service at a great price!
Really good! Portions are the perfect size. I recommend the Khao Soy and Pad Thai
Not bad, but their chicken and pork wasn't great. It was kind of chewy.
Soups delicious pad thai yummy
Meh.
Tiger Cry appetizer is worth the drive. Excellent Thai food.
Friendly staff. Good food.
Very good food and service!
Best Thai food in Chicago, best waitstaff, best Rama Delight, chicken fried rice and Tom Yum soup. 💓
Not bad, enjoy take out frome Opart Thai
Really love this place. Warm atmosphere and the food was excellent. Good service, too. Not surprised to see all the awards and the wall near our table
Some of the best Khao Soy I've had
It's ok thai food. Been a couple times and was always a tad disappointed. I think Pho's next door might be a better call honestly
Delicious!
Great food great prices
the best penaut saut spring rools in chicago.
Best tiger cry!
BYOB. And pad Thia. So good. Can't bet the price.
If you like spicy food, this is the place to go. Great place. Thai food is awesome.
Average Thai food. Spring rolls with peanut sauce we're excellent.
Don't know what I ate (friend ordered), but oh my god, life changing
Great customer service. Walked in and placed an order to go. While waiting they brought out water for our wait, very thoughtful. Food was delicious.
Decent city options. Great egg rolls. Good service.
Great Thai and prices!
Great service, friendly, ate late and it was great!
Food is very good. The staff is friendly. Very affordable pricing. Over all pretty great. I say the one thing that would make this place 5 stars is if the food was unique. Nothing too crazy. Great place for budget foodies and take out.
Buena comida.
Frist time my daughter take us here last late night, and I had a frist time Thai food, it's was really test Curry ..
One of the best thai food I ate!
Failed a recent city health inspection - 30 cockroaches crawling on kitchen walls.
Failed recent health inspections.
Best ambiance and great food. Worth driving.
Recently failed 2 health inspections in a row. Check the local news - they found a cockroach infestation and rodent droppings. This is a shame because this was a good restaurant.
Very good restaurant
Good food for sure. Wait staff was fast and friendly, but could have spoken English a bit better.
Quite excellent food in an amazing walkable location near public transportation, with a reasonably nearby metered parking lot makes this a great 1st date spot
Awesome
Good food
Just walked in to get food to go. They were very helpful and let me sit at a table and brought me water while I waited for my food. They brought the food right over to me once it was ready. Only took about 15 minutes. A great carry out experience!
Can never go wrong here
One of the best thai restaurants in the city.
First time there, got the Pad Thai. It was good. Place is very nice and clean. Service was good and prompt.
Went to get carryout. Nice workers, but when i received my order there was very little food for $23.00. On top of that i was told after odering i was told my curry dish did not come with rice. As i left i checked snd there was no cuttlery. I asked for it and was given a fork, spoon, and one napkin. I asked for mote napkins and was guven one other. Aparently the other locations entrees do come with rice, but u get less food. I ended up returning tje food and went down the street to Spoon and got much more and it was worth what I paid. Opart Thai restaurant like to nickle and dime their guest. I suggest Spoon, Sticky Rice or any other reasonable Thai Restaurant. Never will order from Opart again.
I get takeout from this place every weekend. It's my favorite Thai restaurant in the city for Panang Curry. I get the Panang Curry (spicy) with beef and wide soft noodles. They have decent crab rangoon too.
I ordered take out. Love love loved the the curry fried rice!
Amazing spicy catfish
Tasty, well portioned dishes in a comfortable setting.
Highly priced
The sweet spicy red snapper. Truly the best in the city.
This place is the bomb Thai joint
Really like this Opart location, right off of the train/bus station. They are usually busy, but staff is friendly and the decor is legit.
We really enjoy the food here. I usually pickup or order. They have some items that are not on the typical menu.
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. I give this restaurant 3 Awesomes.
I love the pad thai from this place !!
The wait
Best Thai food in the city
Great Khao soi
Favorite Thai food...
Without a doubt this is the best Thai restaurant I've visited in Chicago. It's far out of the way from my home but will worth a long drive. For those who like spicy Thai, the hot food here is genuinely hot. The menu is varied and great for vegetarians.
Good bang for your buck! LOTS of choices. Great yellow curry dishes. Great vegetarian options!
Good food!
Authentic Thai food.
This was really good! Pleasantly surprized! Very good Pad Thai and the crab rangoon was absolutely amazing and I think the very best I have ever had in my life. Wow just get a couple orders of those for a lunch and you'd be set. So delicious!
Surprisingly good.
My favorite neighborhood Thai restaurant. I personally only order off the appetizer menu, it's that good!
Best Thai in Chicago
Most delicious thai food in the city. Get the pad Thai noodles with spider roll (soft shell crab). I wouldn't steer you wrong
Always delicious. Always friendly. We met up with an old friend and spent HOURS at our table. There was no rush to get us out and the wait staff attended our every need (waiting to order, bringing us water). We love it here.
I love Opart food, but service is atrocious. I called to make a pickup order, lady had me on hold for 20 min while i drove there. I came inside with me still on hold, and she tells me they are backed up. She had 20 min to let me know. Rude and inconsiderate. The Opart on State is slow too, but at least they are considerate about it, and the food there is so worth the slow service.
delicious curry. spice level "hot" is enough to get the flavor of the chiles without destruction.
Definitely a top favorite restaurant for me. When I want good thai food, Opart always comes to mind.
Fantastic Tom Yum Kung Goong, pad see eiw, tiger cry, moo ping among other great choices.
Come hungry!
So delicious. Busy, but worth the wait. I was very pleased.
Super fresh and always poppin
Good is decent but had a bad experience with a few of the staff members.
This is one of the best Thai place in the city for the value. No wait, huge seating area, great service. I would recommend it for a Thai escape.
The soup tasted like spoil milk and my chicken satay was pink
This is the best Thai in the area. It has a lot of seating, but they also do a lot of carry out business. It's BYOB, and there's a liquor store on the corner to help with that. They have great Curry dishes, and you must get the Tiger Cry.
The pad Thai wasn't seasoned or "sauced" as well I was would have hoped. The chicken and beef were a little weird too. However, the crab rangoon is tasty.
I go here all the time and the food is good but is there a reason why they refuse to fix their front door?
When eating at the restaurant in the first room the door slams extremely loud EVERY SINGLE TIME someone enters.
It has been broken for at LEAST 3 years...
Laziness at its finest.
GREAT food. TERRIBLE service. Had a bad customer service experience all 3 times I've been here. If the food wasn't so delicious I wouldn't keep coming back. For this reason, I can only give it 3 stars.
It's hard to beat this place. Both the staff and the food are great and have been for the 2.5 years I've been coming here. very highly recommended.
The appetizer sampler was awesome! Crab Rangoon, eggrolls, etc were lightly fried too perfection--not the usually problem of items like this being much too hard/crispy like at other Asian restaurant. I recommend it.
No ONE does Thai food better or cheaper than Opart! they are VERY accommodating with large groups too. the "tiger cry" is the BEST appetizer in the city
I was underwhelmed with my visit to Opart. I had heard such great things and they just didn't meet my expectations. The food was good, but not for the price. I might give it a second try, but we'll see. There are so many other Thai places that deliver amazing food at a better value.
Amazing flavor; perfect amount of spice.
Good music, too.
Im not coming back. I ordered broccoli lover and it took 15 minutes to arrive. When it arrived, it was cold and they didn't bring my brown rice 7 minutes later. I told the lady, my food is cold, and few seconds later, my food arrived and the chicken tasted rubber and the steam broccoli didn't taste like steam anymore. It tasted like microwave food. Overall, they microwave my food after I told them my food was cold. And bad service too, they can't speak or understand English very well.
The place I miss most since I moved away from Chicago!!! Their peanut sauce lovers is the best! Anytime my family came to visit we always made to sure get Opart Thai!! YUM! :)
I have been here numerous times and it has not disappointed me yet. Prices are good, food is deilcious, and they have BYOB! On weekends, there might be a wait.
My favorite dish on the menu is the pad ped catfish!!
My kids love the food and my husband and I think it's great! Most of what I ordered from here is really good and the wait staff is on top of things. I've had Thai I'm other places and thus is the best.... now that I've tested almost everything on their menu, I can say it's one of the best Thai restaurants known to us! My favorite!
This thai restaurant is pretty good. The tiger cry is very good. The soup (tom yum) we got was very tasty. Overall, good food at a good price.
I'm so excited and I just cant hide it...and I know, I know, I know...I want you, I want you...but after going here...I didnt want it.
Oh OPART! What a disappointment!
I got the tiger eye with friends to start. It was tender and juicy with a great dipping sauce. Some pieces were a little fatty, but overall it was good.
Kuay Tiew Kee Mao with tofu...MEH. I ordered it very hot. It wasnt hot at all. It lacked flavor. It honestly just tasted like a greasy mess of cabbage and noodles. It was extremely disappointing...it was like all the folk at Big City Tap at 4AM. So excited, but didnt deliver. They end up going home disappointed...I know the feeling after Opart.
I also had a bite of Pad Kratiam Prik Thai. It was a little better, but definitely not worth a trip up here.
Oh I think I can part with OPART. Bleh...maybe I ordered wrong, but nothing really impressed me. Honestly, I would take Butterfly Thai over this ANY DAY!
I'm stilly trying out all the menu options, but the quality of the service and the food has been consistently good. I love the reasonable prices and the convenient location and Opart has quickly become my new favorite Thai spot.
Also, the pot stickers are HUGE, which is like +100 in my book!
Best place for Thai food in the South Loop!!!
Best crab rangoons in the city. Good for take-out as well. Actually only eaten at the restaurant once, but really great for delivery.
Wonderful food here, my favorite place was the pad-seiew. I know the cooks personally and they are the nicest people as well as the kindest waiters. I had the most fun with other people and is very affordable.
Good food great price
We visited Opart Thai House last Sunday. The food took a while to arrive, but we appreciated that the cook believed us when we asked for a spicy preparation. The Kuay Tiew Kee Mao (with tofu) was pretty good, but there was too much nearly-raw cabbage for our taste. The Peanut Sauce Lover (also with tofu) was outstanding! The Thai Iced Coffee was average.
Having recently moved to Boston we miss Opart Thai. Their food was super tasty and delivery quick. Highly recommend them.
Red Curry is crazy delicious
