Place to chill, celebrate and meeting friends also you can bring your own laptop or books and have your own conner.
This was by far the best Thai food we have had in Chicago. We ordered the crab rangoon, shumai dumplings, panang curry and basil fried rice - loved everything. We ordered another round of the basil fried rice to share as we really enjoyed the flavor. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a good Thai restaurant. The dishes were also beautifully presented in a modern style, a refreshing change from the typical Thai experience.
I stopped in while my car was being worked on down the street. To my pleasant surprise, I had a wonderful experience. The friendly greeting, comfortable atmosphere, the quality menu selections. I had the crab ragoons-homemade, the best I have ever had. Then I enjoyed the pad kee mao with shrimp and they removed the tail shell from my shrimp. It was a wonderful dish with just the right amount of spice to make me sweat on a very cold day. I recommend everyone that enjoys Thai food to check this place out. Cheers!
The food was phenomenal. Our waitress was such a queen. The place is so comfortable and well decorated. Overall, our party had an amazing time at Oliang. I highly recommend the Panang noodles, Pad Woo Sen, crab rangoon. & the dessert!! It was my first time trying Kanom Tuay — wow. Their mango sticky rice was pretty good too. I will absolutely be back
Had an awesome birthday dinner at Oliang! They were incredibly accommodating to our big party and Stephen took care of us really well the whole night. Everything that we ordered came out quickly and it was all INCREDIBLE. This was some of my favorite Khao Soi in the city. They don’t serve alcohol but all their teas were delicious
What an amazing experience! The place is well kept and beautiful and the people here are so nice. If you want your dish spicier or have a higher spice tolerance then definitely ask them to change it up for. Food was amazing and everything tasted yummy and fresh. Would definitely come here again. There’s also free parking out front if there’s space available.
Not sure how this restaurant got 4 or 5-star reviews. It's probably from a bot or review farm. We ordered Pad Kee Mao and Pad Thai. Both had mushy over cooked noodles with dry and hard chicken. There was a lack of noddles in Pad Kee Mao as well.
Delicious. The place worth visiting.
Great, clean food in a cozy and eclectic atmosphere. Staff was very nice and attentive. Food was very good, nice portions, and fun mocktails. Must get the crab Rangoon
Tasty!
Wow what can I say about this place. It was soooo good. We are only in town for three days but we came here two days in a row. Their specials are so good and the pad Thai had so much good flavor. And don't get me started on the Thai iced coffee. Just amazing. The apps are pretty solid too. We also had the taro dessert and it was out of this world. I don't know when we'll be back in Chicago but we will definitely come straight back here when we do.
My wife and I have become "regulars" here :) We LOVE the food and the service! Of all the restaurants in Chicago, this is where we bring all of our friends who visit :) Thank you, Oliang! We will be back again soon!
I love this place! Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, super kind and friendly.
Banging food. Hot crispy apps all rocked. Delicious panang noodles and khao soi
Best place to go for Thai food in Chicago
This was by far the best Thai food we have had in Chicago. We ordered the crab rangoon, shumai dumplings, panang curry and basil fried rice - loved everything. We ordered another round of the basil fried rice to share as we really enjoyed the flavor. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a good Thai restaurant. Best Thai Food Ever!! This was my first time trying food from here and let me tell you it's the best of the best. I have no reason to fake it, this is the place to go. The food is fresh, hot and will leave you satisfied. Also the Iced Thai Tea is the best I've ever had. You can tell they take their restaurant seriously. You can always tell how food will be by how clean a restaurant is and this place is cleannnn! I'm happy when restaurants take cleanliness and food safety seriously! It should be a number one priority everywhere, but some places just don't get it unfortunately. I'll stop ranting now. If you're looking for authentic good tasting Thai food that will make you want more come to Oliang!
**Update** I went here again a bit ago and got a weird vibe from the owner/chef. He seems very controlling, strict and unpleasant. I went and ordered my food to go, once I got my food I changed my mind because traffic was bad. So I told the cashier at the front desk that I'm just going to sit down at a table and eat my food instead of leaving. This was okay until the owner noticed and he literally came over and took my food and put it into a plate. I was fine with it being in a to-go container. I guess this is not allowed in his restaurant, he basically told me in a way don't come back here again and do this. The way he came off was a bit rude. The owner's wife is very friendly though when she's there.
🔥🔥🔥
WOW SO GOOD. We ordered the Khao Soi, Pad Thai, and Crab Rangoon and everything was packed with flavor and so delicious. The order was also piping hot when it was delivered. Highly recommend take out from here.
This place is amazing!! The ambiance is delightful and the service is wonderful. Seriously the best crab rangoon I've ever had in my life, and all the other appetizers are delicious as well. I'd love to try all of their drinks, but the Thai iced tea is so good, I get it every time. I've also tried several of their curries and noodle dishes and have been very pleased with every one. Everything is very reasonably priced. Oliang is a must visit!
Excellent food and ambiance! The best way I can describe the experience is very thoughtful; everything from the menus to the food seem well thought out. Hope to be back soon
Some of the best thai in the area. Fresh ingredients worth the price. Ambiance is light and airy too, always a good time when we come!
The best food I've eaten out in a long time. I am very picky about Thai food and this place is as good as I've ever had in Thailand or the states. We shared crab rangoon, the beef salad, and panang noodles. Everything was top notch and fresh and balanced. I can't wait to come back, stretchy pants and all. The staff were super friendly and it's charming inside. It's these kinds of places that make Chicago such an awesome food city. This place would make a great date spot, but I'd also happily bring my parents and kids.
Service was excellent. We showed up late with 9 people and they were super accommodating and made us feel at home. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic. The green curry was authentic and excellent and one of the best have had in the states. My 25 year old son said this might be the best food he's had. All 9 of our group found it delicious!
Really loved the food and ambience.
The green curry and koi soy chicken were too good. Highly recommend the chef specials if you are confused from the rest of the options.
I guess the desserts were seasonal as they had only 2 options, and both the options were really good. Felt very comforting dinning here.
Highly recommend taking your date here as the guest would be very well impressed with your choice in Thai restaurants
Best Thai food I’ve had in a very long time. Crab Rangoons were the best I’ve had in a long time. Kathy was fantastic with her service and was very hospitable and attentive. Just made us feel welcome and the food was really yummy. Definitely coming back soon!! Atmosphere is also really nice, and the menu is simple and focused
I stopped in while my car was being worked on down the street. To my pleasant surprise, I had a wonderful experience. The friendly greeting, comfortable atmosphere, the quality menu selections. One of my neighborhood favorite! The tofu pad Thai is delicious and I can’t resist their crab rangoons
Amazing Thai food! Our server Justin was great yesterday. Would definitely recommend coming here!
Delicious
I was very exciting going into trying out Oliang, but was unfortunately sorely disappointed. We ordered take out and had pad thai, pad kee mao, and green curry. The pad thai reminded me of sweet and sour sauce & we did not finish it. The pad kee mao and green curry were better than the pad thai, but still lacked a depth of flavor I was looking for. Maybe we just had a bad day of cooking, since the rest of the reviews seem to be quite complimentary, but we will not be returning.
This was my first time trying Oliang, and I was extremely impressed! I started with the homemade crab Rangoons, which were absolutely amazing. They had the perfect consistency and were paired with an incredible Thai sauce that elevated the dish. Everything came out hot and fresh, which I always appreciate.
I also tried the khao soi chicken, and it was outstanding. The dish had a perfect balance of flavors—spice from the curry complemented beautifully by the richness of the coconut milk.
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Stephen took great care of me, answering my questions and offering recommendations, which I always value as someone with a broad palate.
All in all, this place is a must-try! I’ll definitely be adding Oliang to my list of spots to visit again with family and friends.
Found this place on accident. Highly recommend. Pad Krapao and Pad Kee Mau is delicious!
Round 2:
Khao Soi Chicken, my new favorite.
I go to many Thai restaurants and this is tops. Even the service is exceptional. Had an issue with our meal and it was quickly resolved. Stay tuned for round 3....we'll be back 😋
Food is ridiculously good. OMG so much flavor and the meat quality is fantastic. Would recommend.
By FAR one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Service, food, and ambiance were all on point. Will definitely be coming back again with more people soon :)
Can't wait to come back!
Oliang is a somewhat hidden Thai restaurant off Ashland. They have a very small storefront, but the restaurant expands very far back. Once inside, you’re greeted by greenery and artwork that transport you away from the streets of Chicago.
The food itself is fantastic. I get a Panang curry pretty much everywhere I go and this is one of the best I’ve had to date. The presentation is also fantastic. The portion size is also perfect for leaving you satisfied but not overfilled.
Overall, I’m glad I managed to find Oliang and hope to be back in the future.
Was so pleasantly surprised! Amazing service and fantastic food and drinks💜💜💜
Beautiful spot with delicious curries, pad see ew, and mocktails! The staff was so friendly and prompt in helping us. They allowed us to modify the dishes a bit as well. The tofu was incredibly well marinated. I could not get over the hanging plants and lamps - so cute! Will definitely be back
We loved the panag curry!
I will absolutely be back
It was a ridiculous amount of money for some of the worst Pad Thai w tofu. The tofu was the only thing that tasted good.It was too saucy and noodles were gummy, tasted very sour and inauthentic. Totally wished I ate at home. The worst part was that it was 14.95 and with tax came to 16.71. For some of the cheapest ingredients in the planet. Glad I didn’t order anything else. If you can’t make an authentic Pad Thai I can’t imagine the rest of the food is good. Save your $$$$$$
Probably some of the best thai food I've had in my life.
Hands down, this was the most amazing Thai food we have ever eaten. My husband and I shared the finger appetizer, then had the pad Kee Mao and the Panang Noodles. My Kee Mao was delicious, but the panang noodle may have been the best dish I've ever eaten in any restaurant, ever. The service was excellent, the atmosphere cozy, and the food was out of this world. The food was inexpensive and impressively spicy. I wish we lived anywhere near Oliang, so I could eat here every day.
Food was so good and the staff was so nice!
found this place by accident and man, it quickly became my favorite thai spot in the city. we ended up having a family style dinner because every single plate was delicious. i was happy to see that they also deliver!
10/10 all around. The food was absolutely delicious. The interior design is perfect. And everyone working there was so sweet and welcoming. We will be coming back with friends and excited to try even more delicious food!
- Also thank you for the 1 year anniversary tote bag! It's gorgeous. So kudos to whoever picked that design. Wishing Oliang many more anniversaries!
I’ve been trying so hard to find good Thai curries in Chicago only to be let down time after time. Oliang has ended my search!! I had the Panang Noodles and the curry flavor was full of depth, had the perfect level of spice, and had plenty of vegetables and chicken. I don’t normally love noodles, but the wide noodles were also super flavorful and added to the flavor of the dish. The crab rangoons were great as well. I ordered to go but the staff was quick and kind. So glad I can stop searching for good Thai food in the city!!
The basil fried rice is wildly spicy. Like, many Thai red chiles throughout. It’s yummy, but on the edge of too much for me… and I really enjoy spicy. It also had way more onions than I can imagine anyone ever wanting. Like, white onions as noodles throughout.
So good! I love their green curry. Everyone is so nice. I intentionally go into the city for this place
Might be the best Thai in Chicago
Oliang is our go to for Thai food! Recently I’ve been getting the green curry, and my partner gets the fried rice. We always get an order of crab rangoon as well
Everything was delicious. We ordered the Panang Curry, Krapow Kai, and Thai Fried Rice. Both the Panang Curry and Thai Fried Rice were very tasty. The Krapow Kai was good, though I would have preferred ground chicken instead of sliced chicken. The service was good, and the ambience was nice.
You ever eat something so full of flavor that after you take your first bite you leave a review? Cause same!! Delicious and fresh! As a Thai food lover this is now my favorite restaurant thus far. The portions are good too! I got the pad si ew and khao soi chicken. 10/10
Update have since tried the pad si ew and Punang chicken both also 10/10. I fear this place will make me fat haha
I have heard from some people that this is the best Thai place in Chicagoland. This is a pretty bold claim and I just had to try it out myself.
There are no noticeable signage out front of the joint. You could easily walk right pass it since it looks just like a normal house. So if you know it you know it. The ambient isn't much, one long single column of tables, right next to the open kitchen. The restaurant could stink up pretty good if it gets busy, so date night is out of the question.
Now about the food, the best traditional Pad Thai outside of Thailand hands down! Holy Cow the flavors. It actually looks reddish brown from the tamarind and that is how it should look like! The flavor was so strong and intense just like they are in Thailand , I love it! The beef was tender and juicy, not dry and hard like some places, and the roasted peanuts!!! The Curries are the same way, deep and balance flavors, intense., perfect! The other dishes are good, but not as impressive as the Pad Thai and the Curries. Do try the Khao Soi! From all of these exceptional dishes, you would expect a couple of experienced Thai or at least Asian chefs in the kitchen, but to my surprise, it was 3 young Mexican chefs dishing out these mouth watering plates! So yes, base on the dishes that we have tried, this is definitely the best Thai place in Chicago land, and we have had a lot.
The only issue that I have is, there is no liquor license here, not even BYOB, which it could explain why they do a lot of carry outs. Strongly recommended!
The restaurant is a good option for comfort Thai food or a casual hangout.
The decor is modern and inviting like a coffee shop which is so different than most Thai restaurants. There's two section in the restaurant. The front is a cozy area with natural light perfect for grabbing a latte and unwinding while the back area is your typical dining tables setting. It's an open kitchen concept so you get to watch the chefs cooking away.
As for the food, it's presented well with garnish and nice plating. The menu has an extended beverage menu which gives you a bit more options than just the usual Thai Tea. The flavor of the food is above average with their own unique flavor. Instead of adding meat to my entree, I added mixed vegetables which had a variety of crinkle cut veggies (a nice visual touch!)
The service was great and even though we're Thai too, the staff was kind and attentive. Our waitress anticipated our needs and was energetic.

Basil Fried Rice
Pad See Eew ❤️
Nom Chompoo
Sticky Rice with Mango ❤️
First time here and the food was delicious! Gott he Panang Curry and the Khao Soi with Beef. Both dishes had great flavor and spice level. Highly recommend this place.
I’ve been to Oliang twice and both times the food was top notch — the best Thai in Chicago and the only one that compares to the Thai my fiancée and I have had in California.
The first time we shared a Khai Soi, Krapow Kai, and Mango Sticky Rice. All three were delicious, the Khao Soi and Mango Sticky Rice were standouts (my fiancée thought it was the best mango sticky rice of all Thai places she’s ever had).
The second time we shared Pad See Ew, Panang Curry, and the Coconut Milk dessert. Again all three were delicious, with the Pad See Ew being one of the best versions we’ve both ever had of the dish.
Besides the food, the decor is warm and inviting, and everything is extremely clean. Perfect date night spot.
Highly recommend and plan on going back more times to try each menu item.
Amazing original food :) highly recommend!
This place is so cute! Amazing food!
One of my favorite overall restaurants in Chicago. The best possible Thai food, there’s no way it gets better than this. Try their Khao Soi Chicken, it’ll change your life.
My favorite Thai place in Lincoln Park. I’m a regular here; love the Oliang special Panang noodles. Also, their Thai tea and sticky rice mango pudding is out of the world! Highly recommended!
Order pad Thai to go. Pick up time took 30 mins but flavor and meat quality was terrible.
Best neighborhood Thai spot! Don’t skip this one! The crab rangoons are huge and fresh. Honestly everything we’ve had has been incredible. And the owner/staff are so kind. One of our regular spots!
Amazing food- this is our new go to Sunday night Thai place. Everything is so fresh and delicious, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is awesome. Highlights are the spicy beef salad and the panang curry. Love this place and have recommended it to everyone I know.
Great spiciness, full of flavor, and good prices.
I've ordered from this place 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I'm OBSESSED. I've been looking for good Thai food since I've moved to Chicago and THIS IS IT. I've recommended it to everyone and am looking forward to eating here over and over again.
The curry is best I’ve had in Chicago for the price point and the atmosphere is really cool! Coffee shop environment but great food
Nothing I’ve had here has been less than fantastic. Have been ordering at least twice a week since they opened. Love it!
200% recommend! Amazing food and very friendly and caring staffs! Everything was delicious. The best khao soi I ever had! Loved it! We would definitely come back again!
Very kind staff and great food(best khao soy i tried)!! Beautiful presentation and delicious food and the place is beautiful too. A little too sweet for my taste but still enjoyed every bite!
Awesome ^^
Super cute cafe, great food and friendly service. Definitely recommend 👍
Beautifully decorated and friendly staff. Food was delicious. I had the chicken noodle soup and it was just what I needed. Thank you
My absolute go to for Thai food! Every dish we have had so far has been amazing.
Been wanting to try this place since it opened, and it was just as good as expected!
It’s a really elevated but casual kind of date night-esque environment. And the presentation and quality of the dishes is waaaay better than other Thai places at a similar price point.
Was glad that you can swap tofu in for chicken on the khao soi! The cashews in the pineapple fried rice were a treeaat, but I just like cashews lol. Def wanna come back to try more of their appetizers!
Great atmosphere, friendly management, and delicious food! I take all my friends here
Love this spot! Amazing how there are gluten free options. The chicken noodle soup is the best I have ever had. Our new favorite Thai spot!
A charming Thai restaurant with great flavors and well decorated interior. Every dish we ordered was well flavored and beautifully plated - we particularly enjoyed the Khao Soi Chicken and Pad Kee Mao. We also loved the baked taro custard (Khanom Mor Gang), a rich and decadent desert with a side of sweet sticky rice.
One minor note is that the menu primarily features staple Thai dishes, and I would have appreciated a bit more variety with less common Thai cuisine options. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable dining experience overall.
Overall Thoughts: This is a relatively new Thai spot in Lincoln Park with cute, green, aesthetic vibes. The space is fairly small, with 8 tables total that seat 2-4 people. I came on a Thursday night for dinner and it wasn’t too crowded. The menu offers standard Thai fare with all the staples from noodles to curries to stir-fried entrees.
I ordered the Khao Soi Chicken, which tasted good, but wasn’t that traditional in its ingredient profile. The broth and egg noodles were both deliciously creamy with a strong curry taste, and had a mild spicy flare. However, I wish they used the traditional chicken drumstick instead of chicken breast, which was a bit dry and not as flavorful.
The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. The prices are pretty standard for the area— not unreasonably high, but not low either. Overall, it’s a spot that I’d be glad to come back to whether by myself or with a small number of people.

Great food and service 🏆
Our go-to Thai spot in Chicago! Love the original dishes and great presentation. Staff is lovely.
Very friendly, cute interior, and great food and bubble tea!
The atmosphere of this place is so inviting and they have even more available seating towards the back on the second floor. This place is good for groups but it can get busy! The tofu and vegetable soup was just okay. I prefer the one from the other Thai restaurant down the street. I would return to this place to try other vegetarian options.
Great food and excellent service.
I order spicy beef salad it so good
Awesome food and so friendly stuff.
Today I come and enjoy the time with my friend. The food is really good and the service is outstanding. Server is very welcoming and sweet. Suggest to come and visit.
I love the Thai Iced tea, it was amazing and also the fried rice with shrimp.
Beautiful people and delicious food, I’ll be back soon.
Awesome food, great taste, the restaurant is so nice. Very recommendable!!
Amazing! Always the best time and food!!
I always happy to visit Oliang 🫶
Tdy i ordered pad thai combination and crab rangoon. It was excellent
Thank you
Was so excited to come here for my bday dinner with my family since I love Thai food. So far was the worst Thai I’ve had in Chicago. I don’t know why this place has such good ratings but it was the first time I did not want to take home or finish my Thai fried rice. It was covered with black pepper on top and the rice was extremely wet, salty, and mushy… Thai fried rice is usually so delicious with the rice super bouncy and fragrant. Everything else that was ordered was the same situation.. super salty and wet. Will definitely not be back.
Service was excellent here. The best thing we ordered was the beef salad and coconut shrimp. Ordered two pad kee maos that were both swimming in sauce and one had barely any noodles, mainly veggies and meat. Pad woon sen and pad thai noodles were almost black due to the amount of sauce added. Overall, everything was extremely saucy and salty. Honestly very disappointed, especially seeing all these 5 star reviews.
Love this little hole in the wall, the place is really big on the inside. I saw a post on instagram about it and encoded to try it. I had the coconut shrimp, Rangoons and Pad Thai. The hostess/waitress was very sweet and patient with me. I went right when they opened so it was so quiet with soothing background music. I got a seat at the window and it was a beautiful day out. Price is also great everything is priced pretty cheap imo. Biggest complaint is parking, I was adamant about eating there so I kept going around 4 times until a spot opened up. I had to park 2 blocks down in front of a residence and I honestly thought I would get towed but took the chance anyways lol would def go back again loved it!
Gluten free dishes available, so delicious! Best Thai food I ever ate! Cute decor and sweet server. Awesome experience, we can’t wait to go back! Crab Rangoon were crazy delicious. Had Jasmine and Thai iced teas unique and refreshing.
I always drive past this unassuming place and decided to try it and I am glad that I did. The inside is not what you’d expect. The staff were cute and very friendly. The food was very tasty and well seasoned. We tried the khao soi, panang noodle, and the pineapple fried rice. The winner was the pineapple fried rice, it was so flavorful that we ate it up so quickly. I would definitely be back for the amazing staff and to try other options. I also want to try their bubble tea.
Most flavorful Pad Thai of my life!
The owners are so kind and caring!
I’m a Fan for life!
Certainly our favorite Thai place in the area. Reminds me of being in Thailand. There foods is particularly fresh and well flavored.
Cannot recommend this enough. The food is extremely tasty. I wanna go back and have everything in their menu
This is the best Thai in Chicago!!
Food is exceptionally delicious which truly is difficult to find in many of todays restaurants. Fresh, clean ingredient’s well prepared and great service.
First time trying and will definitely be back again! Everything was great and the staff are super friendly! The shrimp pad thai was AMAZING!
They put cheese in the crab Rangoon. This is not making any sense.
Went here for a weekday dinner, very cute inside. Great service, I had the pad Thai with chicken, it was delicious ! Big portions, I had plenty of leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. I’ll definitely be returning !
Excellent taste.
Excellent portion size.
Not overpriced.
Superb relaxed no rush atmosphere.
Everyone working at Oliang genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. Easily 5 stars in every category. 👍
Amazing food, amazing staff and good ambience! Definitely recommended
Absolutely loved the lunch I had here with my partner. Everything was delicious and authentic.
Our server was really sweet and friendly.
The ambiance of this place feels slightly higher-end then most of the local Thai places I go to. It has a nice aesthetic.
I hope they either start allowing BYOB soon or get a liquor license, because I really want to be able to have alcoholic beverages here!
Wow, wow, wow! This place is PHENOMENAL! We had the chicken potstickers and crab rangoons to start. Truly delicious. Best rangoons I’ve ever had!!
We then had pad see yew and red chicken curry. So. Delicious.
Fantastic service and truly the nicest people. Parking on the street and such an adorable restaurant.
Run don’t walk to this place! Highly recommend!!!!
Yellow curry is delicious 😋
In a city sprinkled with diverse eclectic culinary artistry and culture, I was searching for my go-to Thai food spot in Chicago. I think I've found it in a neighborhood gem off Ashland Ave in the heart of Bucktown!
All the dishes I tried at Oliang Cafe seemingly tastes homemade! You'll be greeted with warm smiles from the time you walk in, until the moment you step out and happily welcome your most satisfied food coma.
Come for the delicious food and exceptional service, stay for the warm and tranquil atmosphere! The street parking, short walk, or brief wait when they're super busy with carry-outs are definitely worth it! Highly recommend!
My goto for Thai food is Panang curry. And Oliang makes the best Panang I've ever had.
Friendly service.
Ordered from DoorDash. It took A WHILE, but it was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. It means that your food is made to order and you can really taste the difference in the quality of ingredients and freshness. The chicken panang curry is outstanding with a perfect level of spice. The Thai fried rice is incredibly addicting. Superb execution and well worth the wait. Good things are worth waiting for.
Very good thai food prepared and served with care, friendly attentive service!
We ordered take out so I can’t speak to the restaurant vibe or service inside. Overall, we weren’t as impressed as we would have hoped. We ordered the following:
- Penang noodle - the curry itself was fine. Just didn’t seem too different than other places. I was expecting the noodle to be crispier Or prepared differently but it was just noodle with with curry on top.
- pad see wee- usually a go-to item at other restaurants for my toddlers but this was prepared very differently. There was some spice or it had pepper I think so my son didn’t take too it. It didn’t taste bad; it was just different
- pad kraw prow- basil chicken dish was meh. It was strips of chicken so I was disappointed that it wasn’t the usual minced chicken you get everywhere else.
I will say the ingredients seemed quite fresh. Menu is short which is fine. Nothing was very bad but it just seemed everything was just executed differently.
Oliang is a newer Thai restaurant in Lincoln park area. I was blown away by the quality of the food and the service. The restaurant had a great atmosphere, with an engaged host who made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
The food was absolutely delicious, with perfect flavors that were both bold and nuanced. The pad Thai was rich and panang curry was top notch. The portions were generous, so we left feeling completely satisfied. Only down side was the temperature of the space and it was a little chilly inside. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Thai cuisine that is both flavorful and filling.
This restaurant transported me back to my unforgettable trip to Thailand. From the moment I steppin in, I knew I was in for a treat. The authenticity of the Thai cuisine at this restaurant was truly remarkable. Each dish was a burst of its own unique flavor profile. The vibrant spices and perfectly balanced ingredients make this food a stand out in Chicago. The friendly, attentive staff made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. If you are looking for a date night or a lively gathering with friends, this place is the perfect setting. The parking was easier than I thought it might be which is a plus being on a busy street. I look forward to becoming a frequent dinner of this restaurant.
The food was ok but not distinctive and pricing did not match the quality. Does not support BYOB.
I ordered myself a feast; the Finger Combo, Spicy Beef Salad, and Green Curry with Tofu. I think the Spicy Beef Salad was my surprise favourite of the meal.
The Finger Combo samples several of the main appetisers: baby rolls, crab rangoons, potstickers, and crispy rolls. It came with a delightful rooster dipping sauce container. I devoured it all within minutes.
The Spicy Beef Salad was outstanding. Really nicely dressed with generous portions of beef.
The Green Curry was full of layers of flavour. I took the rest of it home since I couldn’t finish it all.
The staff is extremely polite and while service is a little slow, the food is worth waiting for. I wasn’t in a rush at all and the chef brought out my dishes as soon as they were ready.
It definitely is a great option for fantastic Thai food in town.
Friendly staff. Clean and quiet environment
Stopped in Oliang Cafe as a spur of moment for dinner. I was intrigued that it received all 5s in its rating, so had to check it out. Its a nice cozy small bright space that’s set up long-ways. Its located on the very busy Ashland avenue.
The staff is friendly and the menu has many thai favorites so ordered the “sampler” appetizer. This was good but it seemed to come from frozen rather than fresh. Though I did enjoy the crab rangoon the most, the rest was as good as other places. Nothing extraordinary.
Their kao soy was very good, and is a fave thai dish. The curry was flavorful and the soft and crunchy noodle was a nice contrast. I have had this dish at many thai restos and this is some of the best. Portions are decent and service was well paced.
This is a solid 4.3 stars!
They ignored what I ordered and just made what they wanted, in was so spicy that it was inedible...great atmosphere though, but way too overpriced for the quality.
Awesome spot for Thai. Best I’ve had in city by far. The Khao Soy with chicken and beef fried rice were amazing. 5/5 for sure - highly recommend.
Ordered delivery from here and oh my god so good! Definitely the best Thai food I’ve had in Chicago!
A real gem! Everything about the experience was great and the food was excellent.
Amazing Thai food! Very reasonable prices and excellent service. Chicken pad si ew was best I’ve had. Can’t wait to go back.
The best Thai food in the city. Chicago has great food but consistent, tasty, fresh and authentic Thai food has been lacking. Some of the most flavorful food we’ve had in a long time. We kept eating even though we were full. Nestled in a cute cafe style seating. Small and cozy ! Owned by the sweetest young couple who are so kind and helpful.
Pad thai and the panang special were insanely good. The service was quick and the people were super friendly. Great spot 10/10
I hadn’t heard of this place until I happened to drive by it the other day. Very happy I did I will definitely be back the crab rangoon was top tier and so was the Thai fried rice I actually wished I had gotten less protein because the rice itself was so good. I definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try it’s definitely worth it.
If you give this place anything less than 5 stars, you are a crazy! Absolutely love this place
Fresh, flavorful, good heat/spice with appropriate dishes, and a wonderful atmosphere. I will be back.
What a cute and DELICIOUS Thai restaurant! Really kind staff and cozy atmosphere too. We ordered the Crab Rangoons, Panang Curry and Pad Kee Mao. Everything was so good. We are going to be coming here or ordering takeout all of the time. I can't wait to try their coffees in the morning soon. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or dinner!
This place is AWESOME! Waitress was SO friendly and attentive. BEST Pad Kee Mao I’ve ever had. YOU NEED TO TRY IT!
They make us wait for the food More than 45 mnts, then I just can't enjoy, I turn a lot stressed, people have things to do🤬
The owner/chef cooks himself so there is a bit of a wait but SO worth it!! Definitely recommend eating in- service is great and you can see the chef at work - he’s nonstop! Best green/panang curry I’ve had in Chicago.
It was okay, would come again
This place was absolutely top notch. I have had a lot of thai food but this place blew it out of the water. The owners are great as well, very welcoming and personable!
