New location in Uptown area
Food was hit or miss and the waitress was rude. We ordered -
- Satay chicken: this was good, chicken was tender and the peanut sauce was good
- Tofu w/sweet chilli: also good, fried well
- Curry puff: this was not great and I would not recommend. It was very sweet, the pastry was not flaky and it was hard.
- Red curry: had good flavors, spicy
- Pad Khee Mao: spicy and tasty, there was great char on the noodles
- Pad See Ew: this was awful, I would not recommend ordering this. Maybe it was an off night but I've had much better elsewhere.
I would've been willing to come back and give it a try a second time if it weren't for the awful service. The food wasn't that good and there are better Thai places.
Came here after my friends recommended this place, and it did not disappoint! Flavors were on point and taste more authentic than many others. The Panang Curry is a must try!
It is a small restaurant ran by a lovely couple. Saw a guest wait to say goodbye to the owner before leaving the restaurant. Definitely worth visiting again!
This is the BEST THAI FOOD EVER!! I’ve had Thai all over Chicago and beyond and nothing compares to them. The green curry, crispy special fish, pad Thai are simply amazing. I have never had a bad thing on their menu and wish I could give this place 100 stars. They are incredibly sweet and the food comes out crazy fast. Everything is from scratch and a husband/wife run it. They truly know what they are doing! Also it’s BYOB :) everyone needs to go here, you will not be disappointed!
A great Thai place with a very friendly vibe. The owners are super nice and genuinely take care of you ! I liked the food overall and while it’s good, it’s not my fav Thai place this side of Chicago yet. Of the dishes I tried, I must say the beef and rice was great. The chef recommends trying the curries during my next visit, so adding it to my list for when I am back here again.
Cute ambiance. Attentive service. Delicious food. Wish I took more pictures, but the food was just THAT good. My absolute fave was the panang curry with chicken!! Owners even came to our table to say hi. Love that I was able to find a good Thai restaurant so close to home. I’ll definitely be back.
me and my partner went to in-on thai in on a day where it was take out only, and at a few points during our orders we were taken back by the service, or lack thereof. after we ordered, they refused to give us water (even though there was a water pitcher next to them), let us use the bathroom, and at one point it seemed like we weren’t allowed to sit down on a bench inside to wait for our food. this was all because there was no dine in service, which is understandable, but it came across as unnecessarily strict and maybe a bit rude.
in spite of our bad first impression, the food was fantastic. they had all the standard thai dishes as well as quite a few specialties that i haven’t seen elsewhere. the crispy fish with jungle sauce and the fried tofu with curry sauce were our favorites. we also had a hot and sour fish soup, and the papaya salad and pad se ew were both great versions of classic dishes (they seemed slightly spicier than at other thai places). this experience seems to be another example of an asian restaurant where the rudeness of the service is proportional to the food quality. will definitely come back, hopefully for dine in next time 🥲
During our Chicago visit, we happened upon this place. They have an interesting take on their string bean chicken; they used a spicy and savory coconut curry sauce which, to me, was a first for this dish. Highly recommended! My group also liked their papaya salad and curry puffs!
Racist Establishment. I rang the door bell to enter the restaurant and the lady stood there and watched me. I was perplexed and wondered why is she not letting me in. A couple walked by and saw me and the woman said "my boyfriend is black and she did the same thing to him, she doesn't let black people in the restaurant. I've heard complaints from other people as well". I was in complete shock and disbelief, but I figured that made sense because there were only white people at the time. Do not go to this restaurant. It is an overtly racist establishment!
Been here many times. Racist lady. Serves Asians, rushes non-asians, doesn't say thank you, sometimes doesn't even let you in. Will tell you that they are closing soon and want you to leave but will seat asians. Other than that, the best Thai food i've ever had and I've had quite a bit.
My first time. I had Pad Seew with veggies. Very tasty and a creative recipe. The veggies were asian Broccoli (maybe not the correct name) which was delicately bitter and spicy and mini zucchini? These were grilled and steamed. The noodles were hefty but not thick and I had tofu which was also grilled. A brown sauce married it all together which was a take on a classic 50's "chop suey" flavor. Also there was some ingredient that was ever so slightly smokey and chewy it was delightful!
In-On Thai is truly the hidden gem of Chicago's Thai food scene. This family-run establishment offers the most authentic Bangkok-style cuisine I've experienced outside of Thailand. The husband-and-wife team who run the place are incredibly warm and attentive, often stopping by tables to chat and make recommendations.
Their Panang curry is legendary and their green curry might be the best in the city. The pad see ew has perfect wok hei flavor, and their crispy fish with jungle salad is a unique must-try. Don't skip crab wontons and papaya salad as starters - they're exceptional. Everything is made from scratch, and you can taste the freshness and care in every dish.
The restaurant itself is small and cozy with a cute ambiance. It's BYOB (conveniently, there's a liquor store next door), and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. The food comes out surprisingly fast, and portions are generous.
What sets In-On Thai apart is not just the food but the consistency - I've never had a disappointing meal here. Whether dining in or taking out, the quality remains top-notch. Just remember to buzz in when you arrive!
-Try the dishes at Thai spicy level if you're brave
-Don't miss their homemade peanut sauce
-Parking available, but watch out for pigeons under the L tracks!
Without a doubt, this is some of the best Thai food in Chicago. Five stars aren't enough!
Amazing food! My friend and I got the basil beef rice & the pad thai and it was sooooooo good and hot and fresh. I’ll for sure be back 😊
Food was hit or miss and the waitress was rude. We ordered -

Decent food...not friendly service...smoky soup with fried fish very sour
DO NOT DINE-IN: The food I ordered was good, but didn't outweigh how poorly I have been treated on MORE than occasion.
The first time I went, I went right when they opened. A friend and I were the only ones in the restaurant and we weren't welcomed or spoken to politely. The woman in the front made us feel like we were bothering her with every little thing.
A different friend and I went tonight, and sat around 7:15 PM. Same thing -- no hello, welcome, or anything of that nature. There were several other tables who were either eating or finishing up their meal. She kept hovering around our table until we were ready to order which was very uncomfortable and made me feel like I had to decide quickly.
The crab rangoon was delicious, probably one of the best I've ever had. There was no acknowledgment of when we said thank you.
When the food came, there was only one other table still in the restaurant and they were finishing up. By the time we were about 10 minutes into our meal, not even half way finished with our food, she brings up the check. Doesn't say a word, just puts it on the table and leaves.
I was shocked because I saw that both on Google reviews and their website listed that they were open until 9:30 PM. By this point it is 8:00PM and we are the only people in the restaurant She comes back for the check but we haven't paid yet and she is visibly annoyed. I asked what time they close, to which she says "8:30." I said that online said says they close at 9:30, and she responds with, "well we are a family owned business so when it gets slower we close early because we want to go home." Thats all fine and good -- but when there are paying customers still in your restaurant, and pick-up orders still coming through, that is wildly unprofessional.
Mind you, cooks from the kitchen kept coming out to look at us.
We continue eating for a few more minutes until she starts stacking the chairs on the tables, which is when we decide to leave. As we are packing our HALF-EATEN PLATES, a party of four rings the bell to be let in (yes, there is a buzzer to be let into the establishment.) She LET THEM IN, SAT THEM, TOOK THEIR ORDER, right after making us leave.
I highly suggest you DO NOT DINE-IN, what a HORRIBLE experience.
Like others have said, rang the door to get in and was stared at by a woman who did not open the door or even gesture to us.
I brought my parents here because I had been before but apparently we aren't allowed to eat. The open sign was on and the woman inside walked up to the door and just stared at me like a psycho.
Never come this place costumer care is bull shit
Nice little place, you have to buzz in. Careful parking under the train. Pigeon likes to poop on freshly washed cars.
By far my favorite Thai restaurant
Went here on Father’s Day, arrived 20 minutes after they were supposed to open and they were closed with no sign or posted hours. Drove a long way to get there, and will never return.
I read the reviews and decided to try this place out. I had the BBQ Pork Fried Rice and Pad Thai. The taste was pretty mediocre, wasn't delectable but wasn't bad either. The Pad Thai's portion is definitely not worth the price. I did the math and they charged 12.46% of tax/fee for a to-go order. The staff was friendly.
Overall 6/10. Might be back to try other dishes.

It is a small restaurant ran by a lovely couple. Saw a guest wait to say goodbye to the owner before leaving the restaurant. Definitely worth visiting again!
I love love love the panang curry it’s so good it always hits the spot. I accidentally ordered it really spicy once and I loved it even more! There pad se ew so good. I love coming here. The staff are always so kind and attentive.
Been there plenty of times and they have the best pad Thai in town and would recommend the Thai ice tea, it's better than any other places
A hidden gem in Uptown! Great Thai food and very welcoming owners/staff.
The cashier lady refused to give my refund back. I never opened or touched food after waiting my 15 minutes to receive food after ordering to go. I decided to eat in. She was unprofessional and confontational with her voice tone asking, "why i want a refund?" after she told me to move to a new table because some more customers would be coming in to dine later. I started to move to a new table trying to understand; however, the hostile way she asked and failed to assist me after i had gotten comfortably seated at the new table was absurd. I felt disrespected after giving my money to the establishment. There were 8 or more tables in which customers could have sat at whenever they arrived. There is no rsvp from my taking either. There was only one other table holding a customer other than the one I was sitting in. I asked her very calmly for a refund. She never offered to assist me with my belongings to move to a new table . She walked off and went to involve another male customer in mine asking for a refund. She made a complete scene as she pointed and began speaking in her native language loudly. The customer had nothing to do with paying for my order;therfore, he should have not been involved. I questioned if i should call the police just to get a refund back that i politely asked for. I never raised my voice or was rude to her not one time. I remained cool and calm. She made me feel completely devalued, unsafe, and unappreciated as as customer. The guy that was the cook or manager came to front and gave my money back to my card. Terrible experience!!!

Sip on a Thai iced tea was authentic With its inviting ambiance and delectable cuisine, In On Restaurant is a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable taste of Thailand.
SO GOOD! Amazing food from this family run restaurant. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spice, but I LOVE their massaman curry, pad thai and pad see ew. And when I'm brave, their panang curry is also so good. For apps, the curry puffs are not to be missed - great pastry and an excellent savory curry filling. Yum. The service can sometimes be a little slow - so just sit back and enjoy your BYOB from the liquor store literally next door. The food comes out as soon as it's ready and is always fresh and hot and so very tasty. I usually order takeout and it delivers super fast. I dined in on 3/2 and you do have to buzz to be let in and the buzzer wasn't working that well so it took us a second to get in - but it was worth every second. Love this place. Might order again tonight...
I’ve eaten in authentic Thai restaurants all over this country. This restaurant is absolutely top-notch! I’ve never had a meal here that I didn’t absolutely love. I have to force myself not to eat here 3 times a week.
I used to love coming here for food because it’s decent but the lady at the front is very rude, she treats everything like a transaction and that’s it, no hi or hello just says the price of your food like she just wants to get rid of you and has a nasty attitude that you’re confused as to why she’s being rude. I won’t be coming here again absolutely not.
Not only do I LOVE this place for myself - this is one of the places that, any time a friend is in town, I HAVE to take them to! I have told friends and neighbors about this and have heard nothing but amazing things back once I do! I real gem in Uptown!!
A truly family run establishment - often you'll see two or more generations taking EXCELLENT care of their customers! If you love local, and love amazing authentic cuisine - GO HERE!
They get very busy - but I guarantee you that it is worth the wait any time you go! Cannot recommend it more highly!
They had a button and sign that says “dining in please ring the bell to be let in”
We rang it and the cashier/waitress lady just stared at my partner and I
And proceeded to not let us in.
Why say you’re OPEN for dining when clearly you are NOT.
Should get no stars.
it was of course delicious, but very spicy 🌶️
Great food and great service
Love the green curry and the pad see ew.
Best Thai in Chicago
delicious food, friendly staff, huge portions for sharing
Best tom yum soup and musaman curry! Good for takeout and dining in! Byob
I’ve been twice now and each time was met with super fast and curtious service. The food is phenomenal and is the most authentic Thai food I’ve found in Chicago. Specifically the Seafood Thai red curry and the BBQ pork fried rice were fantastic. Will definitely be back!
This place is amazing
In On Thai is our go to take out restaurant. We also often bring out of town guests who are unfamiliar with Thai food here.
We love the papaya salad, Tom yum soup, and masaman curry. The green curry, crispy tofu, and shrimp salad are close seconds.
One of my go to spots in the city!
Take out red curry is amazing, they will make it super spicy if requested. Great little Thai spot!
One of the best restaurants in the city full stop. Have celebrated many special occasions here as well and they're always made memorable by delicious food and incredibly warm service.
This is the best Thai food restaurant in the area! There are others in the area that are good but this is my favorite when it comes to flavor!!
Great gem in Uptown. The food is always really great no matter what I’ve tried. The green curry is hands down the best curry I’ve ever had. It’s the dish I compare any other curry to. Owners are super friendly too. Ask for extra spicy and they will deliver!
2023 update:
Still great. I’ve tried much of the menu and it’s all so good. We’re lucky to have this in uptown!
We got massamun curry and squid yellow curry - both punch you in the mouth with delicious flavors. Definitely can’t wait to try the others soon.
This is one of my favorite Thai joints in the entire city of Chicago and I’m super grateful that it exists right around the corner from where I live!
Everything here is excellent from what I’ve tried. I will say that the Pad See Ew has not been as flavorful the last few times I’ve gone here (not sure why), but you can never go wrong with their special dishes and the curries or soups. The papaya salad here is excellent by the way!
Highly recommend this place - and they are BYOB which is a huge plus!
I slept on In On Thai for waaay too long. Wowed us all. Crispy Fish/Jungle Salad was a stunner, but the basil pork with bamboo was a table favorite.
The best Thai food in Chicago. The food is exquisite. The ingredients taste fresh, the sauces are all very well balanced, and each dish is made in house from scratch. My favorite dishes are BBQ pork fried rice, Masaman Curry, and all the salads are delicious. Get a side of home made peanut sauce (serves 2-4!) and don't forget the crab rangoons (best ones I've had in Chicago) Portions are generous, fair pricing, and quick service always. I LOVE In-On Thai ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
me and my partner went to in-on thai in on a day where it was take out only, and at a few points during our orders we were taken back by the service, or lack thereof. after we ordered, they refused to give us water (even though there was a water pitcher next to them), let us use the bathroom, and at one point it seemed like we weren’t allowed to sit down on a bench inside to wait for our food. this was all because there was no dine in service, which is understandable, but it came across as unnecessarily strict and maybe a bit rude.

Excellent! We’ve been going for years and it never disappoints.
The food here is fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced! Highly recommend!
This unassuming hole in the wall in uptown is serving the best Thai in Chicago. Service was spot on and the flavors were authentic and delicious. Don’t sleep on the in-on fish!
The crispy fish with jungle salad is one of my all-time favorite dishes.
Went up town to celebrate a friend’s birthday and ended up at this authentic Thai food place. So glad we went there, everything was delicious.
Great, bold flavors. The crispy fish with jungle salad was crazy good. Will definitely be back!
Sometimes I come here just to get an order of papaya salad. It's THAT good. No one else makes their papaya juice as good as In-On Thai and I've been to many Thai restaurants in Chicago. Takes me back to Thailand...
Not sure if this happened to just me , but the people here are clearly racist.. they would not let me in to order food but I saw several white people let in right before my eyes…. I have never seen anything like it, I’m America
Delicious food I truly recommend
I paid over 13$ for chicken and rice. My container was practically empty. I had way more rice than chicken. Overall compared to other local Thai restaurants I’ve been to this one i wasn’t super happy with this place . The overall taste was okay.
Overall good, basic Thai. We got the crab wontons, pad kee mao, and basil stir fry. The wontons were super crispy! The noodles were nice and spicy with lots of tofu, but I’ve had more flavorful versions of this dish. Basil stir fry had great flavor and automatically came very spicy, which I prefer but might be an issue for some as there was no “mild” option when ordering online. Our order was hot when we arrived for takeout.
This place reminds me and my wife of our time in Malaysia and the wonderful Thai restaurants there. Best Thai in Chicago!
The satay chicken was so yummy but we were incredibly disappointed by everything else. The green curry was basically a bowl of broth with raw eggplant and the pad Thai was so oily…
Best red curry of my life! Everything was so fresh and tasty. Would for sure recommend.
One word to describe this place: "finally." Doesn't make sense? Let me paint you a picture.
Imagine spending over a year scouring review sites and forums trying to find the best Thai restaurant in Chicago. A restaurant that reminds you of and holds up to the best Thai food you've had in other cities. A restaurant that makes you want to go back day after day, meal after meal. And imagine being disappointed time and time again when you try a new Thai restaurant and discover something good, but not great; great, but not amazing.
Well, this was my story for a long time, but now that I've found my way to In-On, I can safely say my quest is over. Astounding food that is *finally* what I've been looking for all along when it comes to what I consider amazing Thai.
I'm no expert, but believe me, you can't go wrong here.
(In particular, the crispy tofu in curry sauce and the tofu red curry were spectacular!)
Awful red curry
Bland food and poor service. Rude too
Really impressed with this place. It have been a favorite of a good friend who is even more food/drink obsessed than me, and I see why they like it. Excellent food and byob.
Favorite Thai in Chicago!
Wow just absolutely wow.. this place is an absolute gem in Uptown! The Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp has to be hands down one of the most flavorful soups I've ever had. I asked for extra chili sauce on the side because I love spice and was advised to also grab it with a side of white rice to absorb all of that delicious broth and just wow. Don't walk but run to this place ASAP for a lil taste of heaven, can't wait to try more of their savory dishes soon!
During our Chicago visit, we happened upon this place. They have an interesting take on their string bean chicken; they used a spicy and savory coconut curry sauce which, to me, was a first for this dish. Highly recommended! My group also liked their papaya salad and curry puffs!
Got a Thai Iced tea and Pangang Curry with rice, both were delicious. The waitress was even so nice to give me a full container of freshly made rice for my leftovers. The restaurant itself was cute too. Allowed me to stay and catch up with a friend for a bit after we were done with our meal as well. Will order from them again! Highly recommend
Underrated authentic Thai spot in Uptown that I go out of my way to order takeout from. Everything I've eaten here has been delicious: green curry (with Thai eggplant!), pad see ew (good wok hei flavor), and satay chicken. Slightly more affordable than other Thai restaurants in Lakeview that are also not as good. Friendly service too!
The best Thai in town! Love it
Elevated and Authentic Thai food. Great service and ownership.
I’ve never had Thai before, so I’m next door picking up a few slices at the pizza place and I see this place so I’m like…. Ehhhhh why not. Let me tell you I was not disappointed at all. I ordered some kind of combination dish filled with an abundance of shrimp, octopus, pork and assorted veggies with I believe a clear noodle. Fabulouso!!!!! We also paired it with an appetizer, the spring rolls. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommend this place, and they were so nice and kind when I walked in. Give these people all of your money!
My go to spot for Thai. The masaman curry (I get spicy but beware, it's HOT) keeps me coming back. BYOB is a huge plus as well and the service is always great. Take out portions are also generous. I recommend this place to all my friends.
Please update timings online!
While I love this place and believe that the food can't be beat, I was disappointed today when I showed up at 8 and the owner lady said they were closing, even though the close time was 9 online. I had drove 20 miles after work to be here.
5 stars for my past experiences and amazing food.
In on Thai is the reason I know very few other restaurants in the neighborhood. I always just want to eat here! Spicy fish, green bean salad, Tom yom milky broth w fish ... All standouts
I really wanted to like this place; I read so many positive reviews here & the two people at the restaurant were really nice. The food was Americanized so much that it was hard believing it was supposed to be Thai.
Thai food is supposed to have bold flavours, combinations of savory, spicy, sweet, tangy—but the pad thai that I got was bland and tasted more of the cooking oil than anything else. I spent a few months in northern Thailand and every single place I went to had fantastic food, especially the street food vendors. In-On Thai has none of the things you’d expect from real Thai food.
The location is nice, close to public transportation and the lake. I’d suggest you eat somewhere else though.
the baked shrimp with clear noodles was soo good and peppery
Delicious! Ordered the spring rolls, pad kee-mao with pork and the stir fried shrimp. Everything was so fresh and the pork and shrimp were perfectly cooked, seasoned and flavorful. This is what I’ve been looking for after 7 years in this city- can’t wait to try more from their menu. Ordered takeout and it was ready within 15 minutes. Update - Been back many times since this review - loved the fish and jungle salad and the chicken green curry. I always order through their website and it arrives within 30 minutes which is amazing.
Run by the best and kindest people and they just happen to have the best Thai curry I've had in the city!! And they can make it vegan.
Big portions of tasty food. Best Thai restaurant in Uptown area.
Amazing flavors 5 doors from our house!!
One of the best Thai restaurants in Chicago! And probably the overall best restaurant in Uptown! I always order takeout from here and it never disappoints. I have been ordering here for months now and the consistency and quality is always there! ALWAYS!
The owners are very friendly and they always do their best to make things right. In fact, long time ago I ordered the wrong item. I called them complaining that they had gave the wrong item, but then we realized I had just ordered wrong curry. Of course, what a noob right? Anyways, the guy was super nice about it and offered me a replacement free of charge, which I truly appreciated!
My personal recommendation... BBQ Pork Pad Thai! And if you are feeling lucky try some pickled vegetables. Enjoy!!!
This is a very authentic Thai restaurant. I have had papaya salad here that mirrors my experience in Thailand.
There are a lot of things you can do badly and these people did everything I’ve tried correctly. It reminds me of my time in Thailand.
Love Thai food and have been to Thailand a couple of times so when In-On Thai opened their first location on Broadway and Sheridan a few years ago; it became our favorite. The owners are this friendly Thai couple who make you feel good and cozy. The restaurant is clean, airy and inviting. The foods is delicious, the flavors of Thailand are assertive and never timid.
Some of our favorite dishes are of course; the quintessential national dishes of Thailand; Pad Thai; sweet and tangy; so good. Their tamarind sauce shrimps are subtle and spicy; paired with fragrant Jasmin rice and you will be set for a night of Netflix. Their papaya salad is a fresh punch of flavors and we shouldn't forget; their Basil and garlic Pork (pad khing) always a winner. Call and place and order; you will love it.
Excellent food. I love their tom kha soup, it is delicious and comforting. Try the curry puffs and sunshine beef apps. Keang-pa curry is very flavorful and deliciously spicy!
Easily the best Thai food in the city. Wonderful spot. A perfect blend of FLAVOR and heat. The staff is incredibly kind as well. A new favorite spot in Uptown and a gem in the neighborhood.
The special fish is to die for. Everything that I’ve tried is delicious. Super fresh products and the flavor is amazing. They will start opening for in door dining soon. Can’t wait!
Fantastic Thai food. The Pad Kee Mao was nice and spicy and very well flavored and the green curry was very flavorful. Will definitely be back.
Amazing food, very prompt service and just generally nice people. It is my go to spot for wonderful Thai! And the house made pickles are SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD
Love this place! I’m vegan and they make fried rice for me without the egg. That option isn’t available at most places. Food is always fresh and delicious!
Hands down the best Thai food I've ever had. The crispy fish with jungle salad and the tom kha kai are out of this world delicious. Never had a bad dish from this place, and I've ordered a ton of them!
Each shrimp dish had 7-8 shrimps. None were over cooked, perfectly done.
Can't wait if you order food to go.
So guess what.. no.ordering
Now being called ignorant by the owner....wow
Me. Do you have a place to wait for food if I place an order.
Them. Huh?
Me. If I order food, do you have a place that I can sit and wait
Them.. huh?
Me. If I order food to go, do you have a place I can sit and wait for the food
Them. How long?
Me... Nevermind..
The Tom klong pla (hot sour smoky fish soup) was perfectly seasoned! I shared it with my friend and she said it tasted just like the soup she ate in Thailand. Big chunks of galangal and lime leaf in the broth, pungent and sour, not too spicy, cleared my sinuses right up. The flavor was definitely not toned-down like some American Thai restaurants.
They haven't reopened for in person dining (as of June 2021) so you have to order at the takeout window and wait outside.
Really good food! I got the curry and the cheese wontons!
What a welcome change from boring American style Thai food! I feel like I'm back in Thailand. (Spent decades going there.) Finally, a menu that hints at the wonderful variety of one of my favorite cuisines. The fish filets with young greenpeppercorns was bursting with flavor. The pork and eggplant salad used -- my favorite -- authentic Green Tiger eggplants (small, stripey green, seedy, delicious). The chicken satay was great (and so glad this moist, flavorful chicken didn't have a stick). The tom yum soup had straw mushrooms (that's good) and the pad see eiw noodles were thin and delicate the way they're supposed to be (not cutup wontons). I will say the pork sparerib appetizer was way overcooked, and unchewable. And in general, their pork seems on the tough side. But so glad I found this restaurant! We'll be ordering again.
Best Thai on the North Side!!!!
Good test I liked
Loved it!
I had chicken satay and an order of egg rolls.I go to pick my food up and you have to stand outside and ring a bell. I did that and the woman came to the window and indicated for me to move so she could give the customer standing behind me his order. So I did. She told that customer to tell me “I need to order online”. I did order online! Idk why the lady inside just didn’t ask me. Very rude and disrespectful IMO. If I hadn’t already paid, I would have went elsewhere. Food wasn’t even good. Chicken was rubbery and the peanut sauce was watery. The egg rolls were just ok.
We had many different things on the menu and they were all excellent. My favorite was the In-On Thai Spicy Fish. It’s crispy fried fish in a kind of Thai curry sauce.
When I was just going in to pick up an order from PostMates the guy was saying that I couldn’t go in that the order wasn’t ready and The customer decided to cancel the order because I had been waiting more than 30mins. And I said I will cancel the order, but the guy said if I did he will the call police because who was going to pay for the food. Why would I pay for a food that the customer had canceled already. They wouldn’t let me out the restaurant until the police get their and I had my daughter’s waiting outside for me. This was a horrible experience for me. I would never go here to eat or even to pick up an online order.
Truly some of the best Thai food I’ve had, especially at this price! It’s a little bit further than my closest Thai joints, but I always drive the extra distance for In-On.
I always get the massaman curry and pad see ew with tofu. SO good!! I’ve only been able to get take out from them so far but look forward to the day I can dine in.
Great place! Chef's special's are the way to go & Cant wait to try more dishes.
Probably the best Thai food in Uptown! Incredible flavors and great service. The curries are outstanding, and the fried wings are beyond delicious. My wife and I have ordered twice this week and I can’t t wait to get it again!
Have ordered takeout twice and my husband and I and our friends all thought the food we got was awesome! I ordered pad Thai the first time and basil chicken the second. Definitely thought the veggies in both tasted so much fresher and more vibrant than I am used to! My husband got some type of noodle the first time and Panang curry the second time, noodles were great but the curry was a standout! Can’t wait to order again!
Probably the best Thai food in Chicago. I grew up in Southeast Asia and this place always makes me feel I’m back in Thailand. Secret Spicy fried rice, Stir Fried Bamboo shoots, Pad Siew Ew and Baked Shrimp with Clear Noodles are always part of our rotation when we order in.
Their Thai curries are just excellent!!
As a frequent visitor to Thailand and lover of Thai cuisine, this is my go to in Chicago for authentic Thai. Everything is good, prepared the way it is in Thailand not the way typical Thai restaurants in the US do. You get the added bonus of a wonderful, warm and friendly Thai family that run this place plus the prices are incredible for this quality.
My boyfriend and I enjoy this Thai restaurant. We usually order it takeout couple times a week.
My favorite are Penang curry, Pork rib, Padthai, pad keemao. Great quality and tasty food. 9/10 authentic to me(I’m Thai)
Give it a try, you’ll like it.
Highly recommend.
Food was amazing and I really liked the aesthetic of the place. Will definitely make this a staple.
Delicious and comforting yet bursting with flavor and unlike other Thai places in the city. Generous portions and affordable. BYOB and terrific service. So lucky to live around the corner from this place but definitely worth the trip even if you’re not in uptown.
By far the best Thai Restaurant in Uptown. This is easily our new "go-to" whenever we are looking for spicy or sour flavors that Thai food contributes. Everything we had was excellent. We ordered extra food to try a few things out, with the hope of taking home leftovers, but ended up eating everything because we couldn't help ourselves...
Just perfect.
In-On Thai IN NEW LOCATION Broadway and Leland Ave.
Finally I got to try food here and just exactly like I have eaten in Thailand. Ingredients, flavors, cooking techniques and even presentation are the same. In-On Thai offering Bangkok style cuisine with some street food dishes like noodles. Most dishes here you don't find in most Thai restaurants in this city because they don't know how to cook like In-On.
BYOB allowed here which is even better.
Open Thursday to Tuesday 4-10
How this place is only at 4.4 stars is beyond me. If you're after Amerithai food definitely ask the chef to tone it done.
This is authentic Thai food - eat in or take away. Your hosts are the typical warm and friendly people you would met if you were on vacation in Thailand. Having spent much of my late teens til now travelling in asia where my love affair with the cuisine has only grown stronger, it is rare that you find this quality even here in Chicago, foodtown capital of the USA.
Great food and friendly service. Note, that they have recently moved, so some maps may be showing the old location, which is about a 5 min drive south of the current one.
Food is delicious. Delicious.Flavor and distinctive in it it’s freshness. I’m In awe of In-On . Wow.panang curry! Yum. Salads, all of them! Delicious! Yum.
My new favorite Thai spot in Uptown! Delicious food, great service, cute decor and it's BYOB 👍
Enjoyed my first meal here. Food was fresh, tasty. Service was excellent. Staff was very friendly.
One of the best pad thais I've had around the area. Pity it has closed now. If it reopens somewhere I would recommend this place.
Best Thai I've ever had. I recommend the spicy crispy fish. Cute atmosphere. I love the art.
better than you might think
Excellent, authentic Thai food that is reasonably priced.
Great food and great service. I'm no expert on Thai, but unlike other places I've been to, this place doesn't seem to add ketchup and tons of sugar to everything.
Authentic Thai! Great flavors
The food here is excellent! Best takeout in the neighborhood. Try the papaya salad, pad-khing, and Pad see-ew.
Average Thai, I'd go again if I were in the area or recommend it to friends there, but wouldn't go out of my way for it.
My friends liked their food, a chicken green curry and eggplant and pork salad, which was good despite the odd pairing. The chicken panang curry was okay, not very spicy, but very salty (so much so I might not order it again, or ask for less salt, although I should say that in general I'm not a huge fan of large amounts of salt). The service was quick and friendly, the food came very quickly, and our water glasses stayed full. It's byob and there's a liquor store right nextdoor. There's paid street parking around, but parking is a bit of a pain and takes a few minutes, although it's very doable.
Food was bland and taste-less. The waitress couldn't understand anything. They brought food out 20 mins apart. Stay away. Better yet, RUN away.
Excellent food! Loved the Pad Thai.
