Small bring-your-own-beverage restaurant serving Thai favorites as well as more exotic options.
Andy's Thai Kitchen (ATK) has a large menu including both northern and southern Thai cuisine including dishes that are seen at most restaurants. Their green curry was one of the better ones I have eaten (they did not overdo the sweetness). Drunken noodles used fresh rice noodles and was well seasoned. The Palo was tasty but may not be for everyone.
The interior was clean.
*Note* Cash only
Amazingly flavorful and well made dishes with TONS of vegetarian and vegan options. They were so large I think we all took home around half of our meal and got an entire second meal out of it. Located right off the Brown and Purple line at Diversey stop, it’s really easy to get to! It’s not a huge space so I’d recommend making a reservation just in case.
Overall a solid meal, but customers be warned - this place plays it fast and loose with the spice!
My girlfriend and I shared the beef pad see ew and the basil chicken with the grilled squid as an appetizer. All were delicious and well presented, though nothing particularly notable. The basil chicken was very spicy, even as someone who normally enjoys spicy food. Service was a bit slow and the choice of music was pretty bad. I might return if I'm in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
It s another good authentic thai food in chicago. Most dishes we ordered are very good. even some dish that it’s a little too sweet but good texture. the server was great. Place looks comfy, clean and space. Will go back to try another dishes. There are so many interesting dishes. Just head up, order 1 portion, you can eat for 2 people because is huge.
The Pad Ped Catfish and Wild Boar were well-seasoned - the catfish was crispy, and the wild boar was tender and flavorful, though the meat portion felt a bit small. The Pad Phrik Khing Crispy Pork stood out with its very crispy pork belly pieces and excellent seasoning.
Overall, it was a decent meal, but not the best Thai experience I've had in Lakeview/Lincoln Park. The restaurant space is snug with close seating to other parties, and it can get quite busy. Be sure to bring cash for dine-in as well!
The food it was ok, but my boyfriend order his food spicy and it was not and I want mild spicy and mine it was fire. The taste of the salad it was not good only 3 shrimps, the meat it was super hard. The Thai tea it was good, same as the egg rolls and Dumplings, the crab fried rice it was really salty
Service by waitress was awful, food was bland, Pad Thai noodles slimy, meat tasteless only tom yum soup was decent but cost 12$ with shrimp.
Reminds me of great Southeast Asian street food!
Great space with a lot of thai dishes I've never tried. Got the chicken Khao Soi and it was amazing, good price and quality.
Never, ever trust a Thai restaurant that uses broccoli instead of Chinese broccoli in a pad see ew. The pad see ew was bleak.
Sweet little place, great chill ambience and delicious food! Ordered the panang curry with tofu, perfectly balanced between sweet and spicy, delicious and healthy, with lots of vegetables added in. Service is very kind and place has a great vibe and is pristine. 10/10 recommend!
Delicious authentic Thai food! Yummy, large portions, fast service, friendly staff. Would visit again when back in the Chicago area.

The food was just okay. The service was fine. However, they closed early and only accepted cash which was inconvenient.
Got a couple.of apps, two noodle dishes, and chicken larb. The chicken was good but aside from that, I think this is the worst Thai food Ive ever had. The thing I don't get is how this place has such good ratings. We have a few coworkers in the area and none of them would go back here either. Or is Thai food in Chicago just so bad that this actually passes for good?
Our first visit was for dinner before a show, and we were a bit worried about time with a wealth of choices on the extensive menu plus specials. Lucky for us, our personable server and photos looping on a screen in the restaurant helped us narrow down our order. We decided on several dishes to sample among our group, which I would recommend.
Our egg rolls came out golden, crispy, and amply filled. They're quite unique in size (extra large) and flavor (very mushroom forward) but familiar in texture to other similar Thai egg rolls.
Basil Crispy Pork was the highlight of our entrees. This is a rich dish all around: sweet and salty glaze, fatty pork belly... doesn't get much better than that.
Basil Chicken was quite familiar to other Thai restaurants and nicely done. The peanut sauce for the Chicken Satay had a welcome, slight chili heat, and the dish was more than plenty for an entree with a side of jasmine rice.
I neglected to jot down the name of the meatball dish from the specials. It was quite spicy compared to our others, but had a complex "sausagey" flavor that was balanced well with the veg served alongside.
We very much enjoyed our food and experience here and will look forward to another visit when we're in the area again.
Great local Thai place to go for a casual bite. They’re CASH ONLY - so make sure you plan accordingly. Their Pad See Ew and Curries are delicious. Highly recommend.
I don't leave a lot of reviews but their food is so good I'm compeled to share the experience. The chicken satay is a must-try. Thai food done right. The staff are also very personable. Definitely coming back.
Great food, wide variety, and a very large menu. Everything is very affordable and the service was good. Cash only, and very good value! Definitely recommend. Also super convenient to the brown line at Diversey.
My favorite Thai place in the city, hands down. They are cash only, but it's worth it. Trust me and try the nam tok beef salad. They get the balance of flavors (mint, cilantro, onion, and char from the beef) right every time. Their standard American Thai fare is also consistently delicious.
Excellent northern thai food. Kow soi .... delicious
We ordered take out for the first time and it truly is out of this world! We were able to try *so* many dishes without spending an arm and a leg. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. We are immediate fans and cannot wait to make this part of our list of regulars! THANK YOU!!!!
This was super good Thai food. It was so crowded for a reason. I especially like the entrees. I had beef broth soup and I wasn't able to finish it all after the entree. I brought it home and it was almost as good as at the restaurant.
It’s a bummer that it’s in a great location and has a nice atmosphere but the food is nowhere at the same level. My friend didn’t even like the pad Thai she ordered. Was also cash only the last time I went
Pineapple fried rice.
Pad this was mushy and bland. Told the server and she took it away. Did t bring me a new one or offer anything else and didn't take it off the bill.
Never going there again. We didn't realize Penny Noodle was gone and this place took over. Terrible
ATK is a great spot for authentic Thai food, with plenty of vegan options. Not only do they have good vegan options, but their menu makes it very clear which options are vegan. I recommend the Pad Ped!
Please note that ATK is a cash-only restaurant, but they do have an ATM on-site.
I ordered the Pangang Curry with Chicken. I was really disappointed when i got back to work and opened my food. They actually put only 4 pieces of bite size chicken in my dish which I paid over $18 for. They were skimpy on the veggies too! The sauce/juice was tasyy it just did not have anything in it. I will not be returning!
Very disappointed with this place. The info on their Google Maps details stated this new location allowed credit card transaction for payments. Something the old location didn't.
When we arrived, there was a sign on the door saying they do not accept credit cards for dine-in but could place an online or to-go order with credit cards.
This continues to be the thing that I makes me frustrated about Andy's - that they'll cite payment processing fees as the reason why they are unable to run credit cards. And a part of me I suppose might be okay with this - especially if their Google maps Payment info or details about the business indicated accurate info for being a cash-only payments establishment.
That said, given that this business location DOES accept credit card transactions for their online and take-out orders - I'm confused then why their sit down service and orders could not/do not accept credit card payments.
Disappointed.
this restaurant is CASH ONLY
no complain about the food all good , tasty .
nice place , nice service .

Duck curry is fantastic!
Yikes. I am new to the Chicago area and was looking for a Thai place I could frequent. I guess I’ll just have to keep looking…
I order the ATK fried rice with chicken. First issue: upon opening the container there was no chicken. Secondly I asked for this to be made as spicy as humanly possible. It also says “spicy” on the menu. I tasted no spice whatsoever. I see 2 jalapeño slices in there and they aren’t even hot. And lastly, this just had no flavor at all. Thai food is know for its plethora of spices and flavors and this meal was so unbelievably bland. My thai place at home comes out smelling amazing and is vibrantly green and red and the rice has that toasty brownish color to it. This meal what white as can be (and tasted just as plain as it looked). Only color was the 2 green jalapeño’s.
So disappointing especially considering it was $17. I will gladly pay that for great food, but not for below average. Will not be going back here again…
I ordered chicken pad Thai for pickup and i was disappointed as it was very bland. The chicken was extremely dry with no flavor, and while the portion was generous I don’t think it was worth $15 for pan fried noodles with no taste. I will say the pad see ew was pretty tasty and flavorful though. Other than that, the service was friendly and the interior of the restaurant was very nice.
So good!!!! Went w my dad I had the pad ped catfish and papaya salad everything was rly yummy this place is a gem :) wish I had come sooner bc now I want to try everything on the menu
Got the Kao Soy spicy. Such a good balance of sweet and spicy. There was a strong peanut flavor and the broth kept me spooning for more. Only bad things were lack of napkins/none before I noticed stains on my shorts and some kind of acidic (probably the lime) took away from the dish. CASH ONLY
Pretty awesome place. The “spiciest possible” could be spicier.
Loved & will return again!
Delicious
Funky and delicious
Pad Thai was the worst I’ve had, very dry chicken, not very flavorable, basically just a pile of noodles. Tip was already taken without specifying the amount, leaving us to double tip which was not nice. Ambiance was just simple, and a little cheap feeling.

Food looked fairly good but they were not knowledgable about what someone who has a gluten allergy can and cannot eat and thus forced us to leave
Our food was overpriced and very bland
Love this food
Delicious Thai food. They are cash only. Atm on site.
I ordered two items for delivery; som tum and tom yam. I am very familiar with authentic thai dishes and these two dishes would tell me if this joint serves authentic Thai food or not. Kinda like when you go to a sushi joint and order their spicy tuna roll.. a barometer for authenticity. The food came super fast! 5 stars for delivery. As for taste, both dishes are too sweet and tomatoey (tom yam soup) to be authentic Thai. Thailand serves more pungent, spicy and sour taste. I guess they cook to cater to American taste buds. Som tum portion is pretty huge.. tom yam soup is standard in the small soup takeout container
Still cash only. Some type of money laundering happening but that's ok... it's some of the best Thai food in the city! BYOB with a liquor store next door if you wanted to pick anything up before the meal.
We had the Khao Soy and Pad Kee Mao and they were so delicious.
But No Credit cards allowed .Hmmmm
Amazingly flavorful and well made dishes with TONS of vegetarian and vegan options. They were so large I think we all took home around half of our meal and got an entire second meal out of it. Located right off the Brown and Purple line at Diversey stop, it’s really easy to get to! It’s not a huge space so I’d recommend making a reservation just in case.
ATK is my favorite Thai restaurant in Chicago! Their curries are so incredibly delicious. Also the portions are very big so the curry is 2 full meals for me. 100% recommend!
My friend and I shared a pizza and it was tasty and hot. The room was a little dark but the crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves
Delicious
Great portions for the price... honestly was very surprised with the amount of food... please ve prepared to pay in cash as they are a cash-only restaurant, that was weird...
David, Terry, Kris and Vlad were absolutely amazing and the food was amazing! Will definitely come again!
Honestly criminal that this place isn’t on every “Chicago’s best” list. If you like Thai food even 20% more authentic than standard pad Thai, Andy’s should be your go-to, without question. When I come back to town for work, I will take the train 30 mins each way to pick up Andy’s and bring it back to my hotel.
Our greatest hits:
Pork neck (trust me)
Sunshine beef
Som tum Thai (w side of sticky rice)
Pad mee kati
Chinese broccoli and pork entree
Kao soy entree
Green curry
It’s cash only and their atm has a $2.50 fee. Worth it. It’s also byob (no hard liquor but everything else is fine) and there is a liquor store next door. If I had to pick one restaurant I could bring with me to denver? It would be ATK and it is not close. Just go.
Everyone should have their go-to Thai food restaurant and this one is mine. The food is delicious, wait time is minimal, and the ambiance is cozy, particularly around the holidays. BYOB is made easy with Prestige Liquors being right next door. Cash only for dining in, which the staff reminds you of before seating you.
There were four of us and everyone enjoyed lunch. The food and service was fantastic. The only thing I think they should change is they only take cash. Like many businesses today, they can't afford to absorb the cost charged by the credit card companies. I believe they should offer the option, but have the customer pay the fee if they want to use a credit card. Especially because an awful lot of people under 35 years of age don't seem to carry cash with them. I think they are needlessly losing a lot of business, which is a shame because I would love to see Andy's Thai Kitchen be around for many years to come.
Been to this place whenever I'm in Chicago....everything is good, and at a very good price.
The pork neck is one of the best dishes I've ever had, and the tom kha, curry, and fish and wide noodle soup (forget the name).
As of this moment this is my favorite Thai restaurant in town, in no small part because the food is actually spicy
Be sure to bring cash because they do not accept credit cards. The food was plentiful and then some. I was glad to try something new and it did not disappoint.
Amazing food, huge portions, fabulous service!
Delicious Thai food at very reasonable prices in 2022. It’s BYOB, which helps keep bill low.
This is a solid 4.3 rating. Ordered food to-go for Astros-Phillies but postponed. Lets start with the chicken satay, the grill on the chicken was perfect and peanut sauce was very tasty. Also ordered the Tom yum soup, which had nice tart and warm flavors with a lot of veggies. The star here is the kao soy. There is a lot of noodles and their peanut sauce has peanuts in it. Thats first I’ve ever had but added nice crunch. Overall it was an excellent Thai meal.
Got the crab Rangoon and Tom Kha soup for carry out. Delicious!!
Pretty dish presentations, but unfortunately the taste is not quite up to par. A bit overpriced too especially for the smaller than expected proportions especially for a “cash only” restaurant. Good service, but it’s not much worth much if the food isn’t worth coming back for. The food did not taste very authentic and the pad Thai used some thick noodles instead of the typical thin flat noodles you almost always find in pad Thai (in NYC and other cities).
Best Thai food in Chicago. Recommend the papaya salads, pad see ewe, curries, and fried rice.
Used to come always - but service has been very bad last few times and portion inconsistent
Consistently above average Thai cuisine that is far better than much of the Thai cuisine catering to Western palates in Chicago. My recent experience with Singapore noodles disappointing. BYOB. Some will be annoyed it's a cash only business.
Excellent food!! Great portion sizes & presentation, too. The service was fast & attentive. Just remember: cash only!!
Nice neighborhood Thai place. Cash only, so be prepared. Many dishes can be made vegetarian or vegan and they are marked. I had the Green Curry Omelette, and it was filling and tasty. Will be back if I'm in the neighborhood.
Amazing food and service. Best Thai restaurant in Chicago!
We had the neck bones and lad naar empire with shrimp.
It was incredible. The neck bones were so wonderfully seasoned and tender. I don’t even go for that kind of thing normally but god I was happy I did.
The lad naar empire was deliciously crisp and the gravy sauce was divine. All the ingredients were perfectly cooked and well balanced.
I reserved a table and I did not notice the payment policy of the restaurant, which is “cash only”. I usually don’t carry cash, which resulted in going to another place for dinner!
Great for, great service!
This was one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city for over 5 years, but they have recently become too pricey for their ambiance. While they used to include a protein in their dishes, they have not only added an additional charge as well as simultaneously raising their base prices. Very disappointed in this sneaky move.
Awesome and unique.
I've eaten at ATK twice, and both times have been FANTASTIC. The menu is diet friendly, and they work around your spice level, too. Crazy big portions for the quality and price, and the food is made to order, too!
Highly recommend if you're looking for an authentic Thai restaurant in Lakeview.
Authentic Thai food in town. Taste and quality are consistent as always. You can't go wrong with this place.
I changed my 5 star review to 1!! I loved this local place and wanted to support it, so we kept ordering from it and dining in. But lately, every time, we got microwaved dishes! It was obvious they are not fresh because of the awful smell of the chicken! For the first few times we let it go, thinking we may have got them on their off night, but it kept happening… Would not come back to this place anymore.
Service was good.
Worst pad thai I've ever had.
Very delicious food. Good hospitality.
We've gotten takeout from ATK numerous times even though it's a little on the expensive side for good Thai food. The last couple of times the food has not been great. yesterday, the Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew did not have much flavor and the beef in Pad See Ew was very tough.
Not what you pay a premium price for and they don't take credit cards unless you order online.
Food was very good
First timer and I will definitely be back. That crispy pork and basil dish is making my mouth water just thinking about it. The noodles were the perfect texture. Plus you can drink a 40oz'er and enjoy some bomb thai food.
I have been going to ATK for my Thai cravings for over the past 3 years. They haven’t failed a single time. The service is wonderful here. Highly recommend their tom yum noodle soup, duck noodle soup and parang curry. Thai ice tea is a must as well. Make sure you bring cash because this is CASH only restaurant.
Consistently good Thai food. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Good Food. You need Cash for Takeout. They don't accept card but have an ATM within restaurant.
I pass by ATK all the time and finally decided to order takeout (it's cash only if you're dining). I ordered Kao Soy because I wanted to try something different instead of the usual Pad Thai and someone recommended it on Google reviews and I'm glad I took their advice. Very delicious meal. The Kao Soy had a peanut sauce/broth that was tasty, I ordered shrimp as the protein. Price was reasonable and I look forward to the next meal from Andy's Thai Kitchen.
The Pad Thai dish is honestly very O.K. For that reason I would give 3 stars. But the staff is very nice so for that reason I give 4 stars.
I didn't know about this place but when a friend asked me to lunch and I said I felt like chicken curry she said she knew the perfect place. Small, modern and bright inside, ATK delivered the goods. The egg roll wraps were incredible and my chicken panang was delicious, the sauce was rich and so tasty. The entree came with rice and was large enough to have leftovers for another meal. Highly reccommend. BYOB and cash only.
Large position order to share. Real Thai flavors.
It was delicious and the costumer service was great!
Super delicious food!
Didn't go here
Amazing food: really good plating, unique and flavorful dishes. Big portions. Medium spiciness is about native heat; upper medium spice tolerance.
gas
The panang curry is amazing!
I love their spring rolls, they are delicious!
Pros: BYOB, fresh ingredients, great price, fast & tasty meals.
Cons: served us two meat dishes, despite ordering vegetarian ones.
“The highest quality for the price point” is the best way to describe it. Def will consider going back if I’m in the neighborhood & have a hankering for Thai food.
just...wow. did the basil fried rice added lump crab, put the green curry on that, then the absolute MUST is Kao Soy noodles!!!!! Best dish ever !!!! So glad I followed the ‘blue ribbon reccs’ on the menu instead of going for my usual Panang pad see ew safe bets. Try something new here it won’t disappoint
Another great meal at ATK. Blown away by both the tom yum and green curry. The green curry in particular was very good, medium spicy as requested and very herbaceous.
Loved loved the food. We had a slight hitch, my entree which was supposed to be vegetarian came with two pieces of chicken, which I was disappointed about and the server was very apologetic and was willing to immediately replace it.
I would have not been ok if the taste of the overall meal wasn't perfect - sauce, spice level, noodles was 10/10. I got the pad khee mao and my partner got the spicy udon pad Thai which he devoured.
Next time I'm going to try the curries since this is one of the authentic places.
One inconvenient thing though is, they only accept cash.
If you have dietary restriction make sure to specify clearly and have them be careful!
Foods are not fresh crispy pork tastes like rubber. I will not go back to this place overrated
We were stuck an extra 40 minutes while my friend had to go find an ATM to pay with cash. They wouldn't let us pay any other way to avoid taxes and the food was not worth it.
I‘m from Thailand and this is the most authentic Thai food so far. 🤗
Andys has been my fave Thai restaurant in Chicago for 4 years now!!
The food and service was excellent. Super clean, even the restrooms. Make sure to bring cash. They don't accept cards.
Excellent menu. Food beautifully prepared and presented. Reasonably priced.
Conveniently located by Diversey elevated stop. Larger than its previous location which is allowing reservations. The food has always been really good and prepared with very fresh ingredients. An added bonus is it's byob. One disadvantage is that you can only pay with cash, but they have you covered. There's a cash machine on the premise. Four of us filled our tummies and drank our pick for under $75! One even had take-home bag!
