Traditional Thai fare is offered at this unassuming restaurant with vegetarian options & beer.
They have the best duck fried rice and pad thai! The duck is crispy and cooked to perfection. Their fried rice really reminds me of authentic fried rice you can only in streets of Southeast Asia, which has the best taste! Highly recommend any of their other fried rice and noodles dishes. Their spicy level is also up to my personal standard. Looking forward to trying the other dishes on the menu.
Excellent food, and fast, friendly service. We had the Pad Kee Mao and the Green Curry. Both were delicious. The staff went above and beyond expectation to ensure that we were well taken care of!
Easily the worst experience ive had eating out, there was a bug in my food so I showed it to the cashier and they said “sometimes that happens what would you like me to do about it?” I asked for a refund and his response was we dont do refunds the owner came out the kitchen with the head chef I presume and started getting hostile tords me, and refused to refund me for my food and were just rude said “we didnt make you buy the food” and started name calling needless to say wont be returning im shocked they are in business
The Pad Thai at Tai House in Bloomington, IL, is a delightful experience. The dish features perfectly cooked rice noodles, stir-fried to a satisfying texture, and complemented by a rich sauce that balances sweet, sour, and savory flavors. The addition of fresh vegetables and protein options like shrimp or chicken enhances its appeal, making it a well-rounded meal
We absolutely love Thai House. Recently a bit disappointed by seeing the hike in pricing, nearly doubled. We no longer can afford this for our family to enjoy. This is no reflection on the food itself or the staff. It is wonderful! The lady that owns it is so sweet. My husband and I had our first date there!
Perfect Thai food. Except long waiting

There food is very good but there is no inside dining so we chose to find a different place to eat.
Found hair in my food. My boyfriend went back in and the guy said theres nothing they could do about it. I then went in because thats ridiculous?! The guy working the front went and got someone else from the back and she then told us no refunds and she didn’t ask us to order from there. Do not go here.
Dine in on Wed and Thursday. This place is incredible. Back for the first time in a few years traveling to Bloomington for work, and it is still the best Thai restaurant I have been to. This place is a gem that could thrive if you place it anywhere on the planet. Be sure to get something with wide noodle like Pad Kee Mow. The noodles are made in house and they achieve a texture and char on the noodles that is unparalleled. If you are looking for sugary Americanized “Thai food”, this may not be for you, although I am sure they can accommodate that palate as well. But if you are looking for thoughtful, authentic flavors, with awesome service, look no further. Thai House of Bloomington is a national treasure and should be celebrated. Stop in, go outside your comfort zone, try something new and leave happy!
They only offer carry out but the spicy beef pho was fire!! 🔥 so good! Glad I looked them up!

Great food, especially for vegetarians.
Excellent food, and fast, friendly service. We had the Pad Kee Mao and the Green Curry. Both were delicious. The staff went above and beyond expectation to ensure that we were well taken care of!
Food was decent. Be aware that there is no dine in option.
One of our favorite places ever!

This is no reflection on the food itself or the staff. It is wonderful! The lady that owns it is so sweet. My husband and I had our first date there!
We drove all the way from Peoria to try this spot since we love Thai cuisine but they fell short greatly. My husband’s rice was so burnt the odor filled the air as soon as it was opened. When we complained they offered to pick out the burnt pieces, we had to ask again remake it. My basil fried rice was so spicy it was almost inedible, and the mystery meat in our fried wontons left much to be desired. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re used to flavorful food
We moved away from Bloomington ten years ago, and this was our favorite restaurant. 10 years later and it’s even better than I remembered. Great job Sue.
Not what it says on the tin.
Consistently excellent food. I miss dining in but still love the place.
call yourself thai house but use fake crab meat. false advertisement if it's not really crab
Best Thai food in town.
I eat at the Thai House 2-3 times a month. The food and the service has always been very good and consistent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good portions and ingredients. If you like a little spice, I recommend the Pad Kra Prao Shrimp.
My favorite dish is Pho Bowl. I love this restaurant. They never disappoint me. The staff is beautiful and amazing. I appreciate, support and loooove amazing food 💕
Still no dine-in option, post-COVID, which is too bad. Green Curry has less star anise flavor, which was the only disappointment, food-wise.
The food is so good and the people that work here are super nice. I miss when you could eat inside.
You cant eat inside but order ahead.the food and service are excellent
I've eaten here many times. It's the best of the Southeast Asian restaurants in town. Where too many restaurants in town use the same spices for most everything, such as the all-too-pervasive "brown sauce", the cuisine at this restaurant is pleasantly varied and not just the standard fare pleasing to the average American. The food is well prepared, so I'd encourage diners to take a chance and try something different such as eggplant or duck. I agree that it is often hard to contact them by phone during peak hours as they are chronically short staffed, not to mention popular. However, the staff are friendly, courteous and eager to please which is not easy when you're overwhelmed.
AMAZING food! Always happy with my orders!😊
The food is awesome. The only negative is that they are only open for take out.
The best Thai food in central Illinois. I've tried all the Thai restaurants within an 80-mile radius of Bloomington. Try their Tom Ka Kai Soup (Thai Coconut Chicken Soup).
Really good but 2x the price the menu reflects here. About $20 per entree.
Love the food and the people working here. I think it's the only thai food in town. Take out only, place orders ahead of time and wait the full estimate before going in. Google maps sometimes stops the directions short and on the wrong side of the road, just drive slow and keep an eye out for the big thai house sign.
foods good. half the time they never answer the phone when they are open so it's usually a guess if you get to get Thai House some days
Food is phenomenal. I’ve had so so many dishes here, and they’ve all been good. The owning family is wonderfully nice too. Great place to explore new flavor profiles.
Says open on google almost everyday and is almost always randomly closed for no reason. I wish there was another Thai place in town that actually wanted to sell food and we didn’t all have to wait for this place to randomly be open sometomes, super annoying and terrible customer service
Best pad Thai in BloNo! And their curries never disappoint.
Wow. Well worth the wait. You can tell everything is made fresh and with care and attention. I was visiting from out of town so was unaware of the carryout only, ended up waiting an hour but see my first word.
We drove an hour to eat at Thai House only to find out that they only do take out. Their website should say that. We left very disappointed & hungry.
So sad there was no dine in. Great food
Easily some of the best soup I've ever had and the golden eggs are delicious. Service for take out was great and friendly.
Best pho I've ever had. The broth was so flavorful!
Love their food. I wish dine in was an option again we don’t do carry out as much.
Take out only- good red curry and pad Thai
PHO is worth the drive to pick up.
Best in the area! And they have sweet sticky rice now.
This restaurant is the closest you will get to the taste of being in the actual land of the Thai. Has never disappointed. You are doing yourself a favor ordering from here
Delicious food every time.
Right now they only have take out
Excellent Thai Food some of the best in Illinois.
Very friendly owner, she says she can't get enough help to open up the dining room.
If you've not tried this place yet, please do right away, it is great! I lived in Thailand for two years!
One star off because they forgot the rice on my order. I'm diabetic and have to take insulin before i eat that makes my blood sugar drop, my blood sugar dropped way before I could actually eat. Food was pretty good though
This place was the most incredible Thai food I've ever had! My boyfriend and I read their menu, and anticipated coming back to eat it since we rolled through Bloomington on our way to MN. On our way back, we ordered from here, but our car broke down.
Sue, one of the owners, stayed after closing keeping our food until we were able to come pick it up. Things didn't work out, so the next day we ordered the same thing (we had to try it, we knew it would be good) and insisted on paying Sue for the food we couldn't pick up, even after being accommodated last night. She refused our payment in the kindest way and happily made our order again for us. Our bump in the road turned into something amazing because of these people and this UNBELIEVABLY TASTY FOOD.
They we open for delivery or takeout only. Regardless, excellent service when ordering and fast turnaround. The food was exceptional. Their Tom yum soup delightful lemon grass and spices yum! The green chicken curry also delicious and flavorful with a generous amount of heat = perfect for me.
A gem tucked away in Bloomington IL!!
Love the food and the people
Great food, great service! I love how they have continued to be amazing during the covid pandemic. Wife and I get take out at least once a week. Pad Thai chicken and panang curry.
2023 Update: This is still my favorite restaurant in town! They have kept it carry out since COVID and if anything the food has gotten better. Great for date night at home!
Duck noodles are really good.
Best Thai food in town hands down!! Friendly staff as well!
Always great.
Great service, great portion size, great food
Carry out only.
Although this is only the second Thai restaurant I’ve tried - I will say this has to be hands down the best!
I always get the same thing:
- crab Rangoon with the egg roll sauce
- panang curry chicken
- beef pad Thai
- peanut chicken
- side of white rice
When ordering it’s so hard to order something new because I’m always craving that specific order. Every now and then I switch for the pad kee mao beef without basil, su mai, or the duck but it’s rare!
Also for the price you get a nice portion. My family of three can eat it for two days with leftovers! Sadly the inside isn’t open anymore but still worth the trip.
They have 2 restaurants in Bloomington Normal , best Thai foods I've eaten.
I love the Thai House! I have never been disappointed by the food here and you won’t be either!
Their food is amazing, especially the #85 and Crab Rangoon. Fair prices and wait times.
One of the best restaurants for take out in town. Food made with love every time. My favorite dish is Vegetable Pad Thai add Tofu with medium spice. No egg. Be careful it’s spicy, but so delicious. Call ahead and it is usually ready in 15-20 minutes.
Amazing food. Dine in not available through
In the past I have eaten Thai food at highly rated cities in New York and Chicago. Without a doubt, The Thai House of Bloomington is superior. My favorites are Panang with Chicken, Pad Thai, and Pad Kee Moa. We have had the pleasure of eating in house (prior to covid) and take out. Both provide quick and great service. Thank you!
Good food. Take away only. No rest room or trash bin availability
Carry out only? Signs on all the doors say carry out only. Sucks to drive to a place that has dine in and carry out posted only to arrive and see carry out.
They only do take out and that's ok. Their food is always tasty, and I've been coming here for a long time.
trash… made my gf throw up. very plain chicken. i make better soup.
Excellent meal- can’t go wrong with their Pad Thai 🤤
Only take-out is available, dinning room is closed.
No dine in service, food doesn't taste nearly as good as it would if served freshly made
One of my favorite places ever
Soooo good! Best egg rolls I’ve ever had!
Their Pho is amazing!
Carry out only and portions were small for the price. Only 3 pieces of chicken and shrimp. Good taste but very pricey.
Open for takeout only. Meh. No thanks! We ended up going somewhere else.
Very clean, professional, kind, and AMAZING FOOD! We are blessed to have this family make such amazing and trusting meals!! THANK YOU THAI HOUSE, YOU ARE LOVED!!!
Very tasty!
I ordered the red Thai curry dish. It was the worse red Thai curry I have had so far. The bamboo shoots were hard and woody, there were no other vegetables besides the bamboo shoots. The peanut butter taste was so overpowering that it felt like I’m eating out of a peanut butter jar.
Besides that the cook used some red curry paste the dish had nothing to do with red Thai curry dish that restaurants serve.
Poorly made glass noodle salad as well. The noodles used were not the once normally used for this dish. It was just a lump of noodles with some beef and spices. If they would have used the right noodles the dish would have been ok.
I also ordered an additional serving of rice that was not in my order.
Over all I must say the quality of the food went from 8 or 9 to a 1 or 2 . Yes I have eaten there before and the food was actually edible.
I would not consider going back and I recommend firing or at least training the chef in cooking proper Thai food dishes.
Waisted my time for carry out only
Rudest staff ever! VEGETARIANS STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Especially if you are vegetarian by religion. They will make you eat meat in any form and won't believe or accept their mistake even if you show it to them.
Open only for carryout- NO DINE IN
Best Pad Thai in town. Friendly staff.
The pho is heavenly. The egg rolls were the best egg rolls I have ever had. I ended up going back two days later and getting more pho. Feels like I'm back in Chicago, I thought I'd never get a familiar taste out here.
Love it!
Very pleasant service, food was a tasty change of pace!
One of the best restaurant in B/N, and I have been to nearly, all of them. I have been to TH many times and it is always exceptional. Soft shell crab here, will change your life!
Never going to find another place like this !
Great food, great owners, great service!!!!
Nice people. Not much food for $15
Absolutely the best Thai food around! Can't wait for the dining room to open again!!
Wonderful authentic food!!!
The best Thai food I have ever had.
I did a to go and their orange chicken was dry as hell i would say 1 - 10 , they white rice (1 - 10) it was too freaking dry, They gyoza chicken dumplings was a (10 - 10) main thing i would only recommend and order very disappointed this was my very first try and i wasn’t impressed 🤮 don’t recommend eating here 👎🏾
I attended college at ISU and went to this place all the time. Three years later I still come back every time I visit the campus for their amazing chicken Pad Thai. Really nice staff here as well.
I have tried but I have never found Thai food better than they have. Their crab Rangoon is a must.
Orange chicken appetizer is all bread! Gross!!
Best food in Blono. Best shrimp
Pad Thai I’ve ever had!
Favorite Thai place in town. The pork Larb and Pho are my favorite
Thai House is a Bloomington staple! The food is always perfect and exactly what you order. All take out now, with COVID, but always delicious!
Delicious food, wish we could eat there again.
Ohhhh pad se ew
We have ordered multiple times before and the food has been good in the past. Tonight we ordered 2 chicken pad thai entrees and the quality was terrible. The food was cold by the time we got home (and we only live 10 minutes away), there was not enough sauce, the noodles were overcooked and all choppy. The quality is sub par and portions are small considering it’s $11 for a pad thai in central Illinois. I called the restaurant to complain and give my feedback and they asked me if I had eaten my food already, otherwise they cannot give a refund or recook the food. I called about an hour after we got the food. I’m not sure how they expect someone to drive all the way back just so they can recook the food. I do not want to spend another 30 minutes of my time just to get new food. A better policy would be to offer to recook the meal another time. The customer service should have been better, they clearly were very busy and had 10 people in the kitchen and the quality was unfortunately sacrificed. I will not be dining there again.
Food is delicious but, I would like the dining room to reopen. I travel to go there. I eat my meal in the car😏
Hands down the best most authentic Thai food in Bloomington-normal. Update..... Ordered again tonight.. Again 5 out of 5 stars. They just keep crushing it! The duck is beyond compare. I tried the Jjamp pong and it is hands down one of the best dishes I have ever eaten in Bloomington Normal in 24 years. Do yourself a favor and dine here you will be glad you did.
I love their food BUT when trying to order take out they answer the phone and put you on hold and never answer back! I tried for almost an hour to call them to place and order and I finally just gave up. I was on hold each time for over 10 minutes! But called the next day and was able to put my order through, I did call an hour earlier to try and beat the rush!
Chicken fried rice was good
Got takeout here Christmas Eve. Great food and very friendly
The food is amazing and the service is even better. Very sweet people
Absolutely impeccably good Thai food every time!!
We have tried Thai restaurants in Chicago, St. Louis, O’Fallon, and Champagne. Nothing comes close to Thai House in Bloomington.
Some of the best food in Bloomington! Every single dish there is amazing.
This is my favorite restaurant in Bloomington. Every weekend I crave Thai house food. Their fried rice and omelette is delicious. Before the pandemic they stopped making Thai custard. We ask for Thai custard Every time we order food from there and we hear a no. Suddenly this week we asked and it was there. For someone who does not have a sweet tooth I loooooove this desert and I missed it sooo much !! It just melts in your mouth. Eat with 🍨 and you'll keep eating it!!!! Hope they don't stop making it. Don't miss eating at this amazing Thai food place.
This place is great, unfortunately like all Asian related restaurants in the area it is closed on Mondays. I spent 2 months in Thailand and can confirm that the food is very close to authentic. I really enjoy the chicken pad Thai. It is currently take out only but that's ok with me, I live 5 min away.
🤤
Traveling and thought this sounded good. Inside closed. Ok. We ordered and sat in car. One tofu pad Thai. One fried rice with tilapia. 4 crab raccoons. $30. Dry. Pad thai is bean sprouts, noodles and some egg with few crushed peanuts. Watery soothing that looks like colored sugar water. Went in to ask for some sweet and sour sauce. Wants 11.50 more. Or .50 for teaspoon of soy sauce. Argued with ne about expensive everything was. NEVER AGSIN.
Dine in is currently closed. Food is always great at a reasonable price. Staff is efficient and friendly.
NIce balance of flavors in traditional Thai food.
Seriously good.
Food was delicious even though they had to take out a lot of ingredients to meet our dietary restrictions!
This is the worst Thai food I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot in many places. We ordered 3 dishes and each of them are of not just low quality of taste but also skimmed on the amount of food. The curry is so watery that it does not taste like curry. The sparse amount of vegetables are cut so thick that I need to knife to cut it again. The pad Thai has 4 small slices of chewy beef and the noodle is mushy and not enough food after all. I am still hungry after scraping every bit in the container. My son could not finish half of the curry fried rice because it just tastes awful and he has a good taste in all kinds of Asian food. If they offered dine-in and served us this quality of food I would send them all back. Maybe this is why they offer carry out only?
Great flavors and portions. I always have some to take home for lunch the next day.
Tasty food, but should be packing in more quantity for the price
The Pad Thai & Panang were amazing! Everything was delicious & the service was friendly
The food here is amazing, such a wonderful value for the quantity and quality of the ingredients. A nice little gem of a restaurant for our twin cities and would highly recommend to all for the best Thai food in Illinois!!!
Disappointed to be told lunch specials are no longer available.
Excellent place for authentic thai food @ bloomington. The people there care for your needs and are very patient. Will-be my go to place for thai food :)
always amazing food. crispy duck worth its weight in gold.
Great food! The chicken pad thai with peanut sauce...amazing! The egg rolls are also some of the best I've ever had.
Best food in town hands down. Authentic, consistent, humble. What else could you ask for when dining out?
Great food! Great service!
Fresh and flavorful food! We tried Pork and Chicken Pad Thai along with Garlic Fried Rice with Tilapia. Amazing!
Get the number 39 pho. Start off a little spicy. I get this all the time and it is wonderful.
