Cafe-style Thai restaurant with traditional art & serving a menu of familiar dishes.
I want to like this place, especially since we order a lot of catering from them for my work. When I visited them for the first time, my friend who was a regular find the food not as good as usual so their regular chef might be on leave. Being from Southeast Asia I hold Thai food to a high standard so it might still be nice to others. It was Friday evening so it was pretty packed so as soon as we finished eating we felt rushed to leave because the staff approached us apologetically and told us that there are people waiting for our table. I don't know if that's common in the US but I've never experienced that before. The timing was also difficult because my friend was crying and sharing her story at the time when we were told to leave. I know it wasn't personal but it wasn't the best feeling.
Authentic Thai cuisine with great explosive flavors. The curry had a good mix of spice and coconut flavor. The appetizer plate gave a good mix of all the favorites. Good pricing.
The restaurant is small with only 8 tables. They do a lot of take out which is a bit annoying if you sit near the door but the food more than makes up for this.
Really kind, personable service in this cute little nook of a Thai restaurant. There is a brisk takeout business, too.
The fresh , crunchy Thai cucumber salad had lovely flavours and was spicy enough to make me cry throughout the entire meal.
The summer rolls, were well, bland like summer rolls, with their rice noodles and bits of chicken and veg inside and a saccharinely sweet, slightly peanutty sauce.
The pad Thai was a strange, though not unpleasant, amalgamation of chewy noodles, as they should be, in a sweet, oily sauce that tasted more like KC barbecue than anything else. Bits of chicken and a hint of slices of vegetable rounded it out.
Good variety of tasty food. Lots of parking. The waitress helped make some suggestions of what to order, and everything was good, except, I wasn't crazy about the sticky rice. It had some hard, crunchy(dry) pieces, and for an individual serving, it was expensive. I would definitely go back, but no sticky rice
I use to love this place. The shrinkflation is just so bad now. Same prices but this is the third time where there is a noticeable difference between the quantity of one order vs the other, even though they are the same type of noodle plate. We both ordered Drinken noodles but for some reason the beef came with almost half the amount of noodles. I really loved this place, enough to get cheated three times, but sadly this will be my last order Pictures are before we ate anything.
Atmosphere is more for take away. But food was great for vegetarian. Also made sure and didn't add fish sauce.
Good Thai food
Be very careful with this place. I ordered a papaya salad medium hot to go so I didn’t tip and she looked at me offended. The papaya salad was extremely spicy on purpose and I got so sick of it I spent 5 hours in the hospital with food poisoning. I’m in the process of filling a law suit against them. Stay away from this place would be my advise.
Harriblw place.
Very rude sever, foods were too salty, and rice noodle in a dish was almost gone bad. After paying bills, we informed our server that the nooldles were at the borderline of spoiled so they would check before serving to others. She was very rude and told us the dish contained vinegar and that's why we felt it was gone bad. It did not make any sense. We can tell difference between vinegar and spoiled food.
Good 🤙
Flavor is good, though the veggies have been way overcooked in the curries. Super mushy and just disintegrate in your mouth. It’s giving geriatric mush. Just a heads up to the chef!
Delicious every time.
We ordered food to go specifically a pad seeiw with chicken and pad Thai with chicken. When we got home my grand daughter got a pad seeiw tofu!! Not only was it a wrong order, it was salty like the ocean and pale! My pad Thai was boring like it came out of a Food Court USA! I usually order here but not anymore. They were so lucky we ordered the food when they were closing or else I would call them to complain. HOW can you mess us the protein though!?! Chicken is chicken not freaking TOFU!!
The food is pretty good and fairly priced
Worst Thai food I’ve had, no taste, no spices! very bland,
For those spicy Thai curry with sticky rice craving days..yum!
Food was ordered at 4:22 and ready at 5:10pm. 3 plates. Terrible. Service is terrible and the people who do the take out have no customer service. I had to ask for my order, wait 30 minutes, then grab my own order that wasn’t called out or handed to me after waiting for 30 minutes for food that was pre-ordered. This was on April 28 Sunday at 5:10pm. Please teach your employees how to communicate.
Great food
The best Thai food we've ever had!
Ordered Tofu panang curry, summer rolls, pad thai, golden calamari and tofu green curry. The food was very good but I wasn't a fan of the calamari and the summer rolls. I do recommend the pad thai. It was tasty and flavorful!
Good authentic taste. Tried red curry with shrimp and beef jasmine rice and papaya salad with one chili pepper today 2/ 16/ 24.
Thai issan has great food and great service! I am a returning customer and will continue to come back, especially after today. I ordered a fried rice for to go one and it was a little burnt. I called them and they made me a new one with no questions asked. I really appreciated that. Thank you thai issan.
Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in Honolulu. Delicious food, great friendly service
The people are really nice + attentive, and the food is so good for the price! We got the kabocha (pumpkin) curry and scallop fried rice and it was delicious.
I want to like this place, especially since we order a lot of catering from them for my work. Wouldn’t recommend.
One of the best Thai spots on the island - I recommend the drunken noodles and their curries. Didn’t give them 5 stars because the quality can sometimes be a bit inconsistent.
👎
This is one of the best Thai places on the island! Incredible food, good service and you can BYOB! Awesome Tom Ym soup! Hidden gem for sure!
Food is just what we like. Service can be slow because there is busy take out as well as dining in. Small cramped space with only a handful of tables. Parking can be tricky because the restaurant is right next to Foodland which is always busy. We still go because we like the food!
This place has new owners and is AMAZING! The lunch menu has soup, two amazing Thai dishes and spring rolls, everything you could want and need for less than $20. They remodeled the space and it’s super chic and simple and Emily our server was amazing.
I like the service but the food here is not good. We have ate at quite a few Thai restaurants across different States, and even in Thailand. This gotta be one of the worst. One place in Hawaii that I don't recommend or come back. This is also one of a few places I see charging extra for rice.
Terrible! Worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Do not order online. Placed a takeout order through Uber Eats and not only did the order come completely wrong, but it was also packed worse than I would pack for an animal. My papaya salad didn't come with papaya; instead, there were just bean sprouts in a thin plastic bag, all crushed and unappetizing.
Our go to Thai restaurant. We order the same thing every time and keep coming back. Pad Kee mao noodle, king of chili and stuffed chicken wings. Over the years, the portion size varied but it's back to the size where I could have left overs if I wanted to be sensible.
Clean, friendly, and good food in a convenient location and parking!
Excellent place for Thai food. Eat here regularly with friends. A little hole in the wall that is usually busy. Get your Thai on here.
Very friendly staff. Fabulous green curry chicken. We shall return.
So delicious
We went to pick up a Doordash order and they said they were closed. Very rude. Not sure what is happening since I had received an OK for the pick up.
Ordered via grub hub. Got panang curry and tom kha soup. Delivery gets here, no white rice to go with the curry. Turns out you have to order white rice separately in order to enjoy your curry. Called them, they didn't seem to think this was an issue. Terrible service. Who sells curry without rice!!?? Never in my life have I had to specify "add white rice". Was nearly $50 delivered. Buyer beware
Not delicious food
Delicious pad thai. Penang chicken is superb. We loved the yellow curry with fish.
Food I got was ok. Order was not complete. Total disaster!
This place is the worst. I was visiting Hawaii for the first time and ordered Massaman Curry with the expectation that it came with white rice. I would have gladly paid for white rice on DoorDash is it was mentioned that it was a separate order but it wasn’t mentioned. I got my order of curry but no rice to eat it with. Called the restaurant to ask about missing rice and the lady was so rude and said I should have called them first before ordering. That did not make sense as how would I have known there was a reason to call them in the first place. While I was still trying to explain and possibly order rice. She hung up on me. Pathetic and excuse for a good business. Never ordering from them again and I hope the keep loosing customers due to their stupidity.
Delicious flavorful food with abundant portion sizes. This is a must visit restaurant if you like Thai food and are in Honolulu. I did a doordash order of a green curry, a red curry, spring rolls and a rice order. Food was plenty for 4. Dishes were hot and fresh. Curries were savory and just the right level of spice with plenty of serving size. Highly recommend this place.
The food was Delicious!
I use to love this place. The shrinkflation is just so bad now. Same prices but this is the third time where there is a noticeable difference between the quantity of one order vs the other, even though they are the same type of noodle plate. Overall experience is really good. It's a small Thai restaurant, run by a family and the food is good. The Thai fried rice had to be my favorite and the flavors were spot on. I also got the drunken noodles and pineapple curry. The drunken noodles were cooked perfectly and the pineapple curry was ok. My friend wanted the pineapple curry and I'm not saying that I didn't like it, cause the flavors of the curry was good, I just don't think that I favor pineapple in my curry, but that's just personal preference. The restaurant is really good if you want good Thai food, the portions are reasonable for the price, and the service was good, but nothing special. Will be returning if I'm around the area and am craving Thai food.
Love this little gem! Tasty curry.
They are moving to a nearby location by end OCTOBER. I will update the location once I confirmed it
I love this place. The food comes out fast and tastes fresh. And the servers are always very nice. Very consistent, never disappoints.
Excellent pork fried rice with just enough spice. Probably some of the best spring rolls ever, seriously!
Beef soup is amazing!
Great food and reasonable prices. Parking on top area sux but still got the bottom parking.
Food is really tasty, like the basil stir fried grounded pork rice plate most
best fu**ing thai in hawaii, wow, wow, wow. i cannot highly recommend this place enough, pad thai is amazing and everything else wow
Best Thai I have ever eaten. Every bite was better than the next. Go here!
Really kind, personable service in this cute little nook of a Thai restaurant. There is a brisk takeout business, too.

Excellent yellow curry. Excellent service. Everything was very tasty. They have uber eats so I'll be ordering lunch from them weekly.
No sense of time
오래 기다려야 하는 곳
Authentic thai
I love the staff I door dash Uber orders from there all the time and the food is hot and rdy
Been ordering take out from Thai Issan out of pure convenience. Unfortunately, the food has progressively gotten worse. Inconsistent portions and flavors. Vegetables are old and flavorless. Service has gone from indifferent to straight up rude. Will stick with Phuket on Ward from now on.
Sweet sour chicken was bomb! Must try! Fried pork was good too. Clean restaurant with a small homey feel. Quick service and friendly staff. Loved it!
Our server was professional & friendly. The food was served steaming hot & everything we ordered was delicious. Reasonably priced.
Great prices! And the portions are good too. The pad thai and spring rolls are delicious. Some of the best Thai food I've had in Honolulu.
Food is good.
They mistake alots service is so bad and no respect
I'm not gonna go anymore.
Got the chicken pad Thai. While the spice level was spot on (5 star - Thai hot), there was minimal amounts of chicken. And for the reviewer who said that portions were huge, I felt them to be average for typical Thai food. Would have been a 5 star rating with more chicken. Can’t beat the price, though - $11.95 vs $19 at home.
We had dinner at restaurant a year ago(2021) and it was good. We took our cousins from out of town to this restaurant for dinner last week(February, 2022) and we all were so disappointed!!! New chef ?
We would not come back!
Pretty good thai. Order everything as spicy as you can get otherwise it’ll be a bit bland.
DO NOT USE THE ONLINE ORDER. Twice now I've ordered online from the Waikiki location using the ordering platform they link on their website, and both times they didn't get the order. Despite me receiving confirmation emails and texts and payment going through.
Their curry is good (for non-curry dishes, their pictures definitely don't match what they actually serve and it's very disappointing to say the least) and good enough that we'll keep ordering curry from them I the future. But only phone orders or dining in from now on...
wrong order, poor quality food
Some of the best curry and pad thai 👍🏻👍🏻
Ordered take out and faced one of the rudest customer service ever. Not going to order food from here again. The staff needs to learn to be more polite.
We ordered from here a few times from Doordash. The soup and wraps were ok but the thai meals are way too spicy!! We're trying other Thai restaurants.
Delicious food (alloy maak maak na khrap), pricey. (I'm used to Thai food prices in Thailand. Mai Peang na Khrap), but not as pricey as other Thai food restaurants in the area. I wish they served Khao Soi Gai. That was my favorite while I lived in Chiang Mai. I know they would do a great job.
Ordered brown rice and sticky rice on top of curry and stuffed wings but did not get the sticky rice. Also did not get their "most famous - according to them" peanut sauce. Penang curry is meh and wings are have little to none stuffing.
Really, really good! Great food! Yellow curry was phenomenal!
Food was delicious!
Drunken noodle is a must.
Ordered the pineapple fried rice which was kind of bland.
The yellow curry, pad thai, cashew nut dishes were amazing . Very flavorful.
This place is so fire 🔥 it was so good and also great value!
I got the look fun noodles and it was tasty and also the noodle texture was amazing. Great portion with tofu as well
You can request without egg making it friendly for vegans ✊🏾 follow @mlam604 on instagram for other Hawaiian festivities
Best Thai food anywhere!!
Hello there,
We’re tourists from Houston Tx. We were bummed that foodland ran out of poke and it’s was getting late 8:45p and restaurants were beginning to close. We noticed the Thai restaurant that was only doing take out,
We were hungry and was like let’s try this place.
We tried the pumpkin curry, and surprising it was fabulous!! It was very tasty. (In my head I was thinking of pumpkin spice flavor and it wasn’t like that what so ever)
We also had the fried fish and children ate it all up, we were shocked! You know how kids can be so picky, but she loved it. She asking us to take her again the next day.
We also has the basil beef and the eggplant stir fried tofu, which was just as good as well.
The price is extremely reasonable compare to everything else we’ve been paying for on Oahu! Would recommend it to friends and family if they were living here.
The employees are very confused of how to do their jobs. I do delivery’s and this company always fails to complete orders correctly and on time. I hope they start reading the reviews and do better.
Good. Not the best. Prices are low, but portions not too big. Perfectly average Thai restaurant
Food was good but service was horrible. Felt rushed and took a while for the waiter to come to our table and was not welcoming, also they forgot one of our dishes but yet almost paid for it except they still charged us for it.
Extremely rude staff.
5 stars for the food and 2 stars for the to go service. We ordered 2 pad Thai, one yellow curry beef, and one dung yung soup on the phone. It was about 5 PM on July 17. The lady sounded impatient. When we got the food, the lady didn’t want to provide extra containers (we were to eat in our hotel room) and gave us only 3 spoons (there’s four of us for four dishes). My wife had to ask twice for a break down receipt. They seemed annoyed by us (we are really nice people, no kidding). On another note, the food was AMAZING!!! My daughters joked that the workers can afford to have an attitude because their food is so great.
Want to love but half of the time food come out wrong. Keemao is super bland when another time is awesome. I order green curry with nothing and they give with notmal amount of vegetable , but then next time they put brocoli and a whole bunch of carrots and veggies I never added extra. There is no curry or soup , just a trickle of curry and a bunch of veggie probably worth less than $1. Want to love but they wont let me be their regular customer. Most of the time green curry is good and not spicy. Last time is super spicy. Hate it
Was excellent will go again the wine sauce is very tasty.
My fiance and I absolutely loved this place. This is our first time visiting Honolulu and we were looking for a place to get some dinner on our first night that was close to our hotel. We are so glad we picked this place. We haven't even been here for 4 days yet and have already been back twice. The curry is amazing and the Pad Thai was also great. The best part is the service. Very friendly staff an attentiven. Definitely recommend.
I had the Pho and it was incredible! Also the curry was amazing! The brown rice was great and the noodles were delicious!! I love this place. First time here and I’ll be sure to be back
We were crazy looking for vegetarian restaurants in Honolulu and we found this place in google recommendations. They have a big menu with lots of different options. Everything on the menu can be switch to a vegetarian meal... instead of meat you can ask for tofu. By far the best meal we had in Oahu. When we went there we had the best waiter... so friendly and nice! I really recommend it even if you are not vegetarian!
I try to give them second chance after chance but they mess up my order EVERY SINGLE TIME. Sometimes it’s really busy or I forget to check but every time I don’t check before I leave the building my to go order IS WRONG. Like forgot to tell me ran out of Kee mao noodles so they subbed pt noodles like NO.
My rating is for the food. But the lady who appears to be the owner is quite nasty, especially when she's "redirecting" her employees. It's important to note that the employees are very nice, and the table service is solid. My issue is with the fact that I did not order dinner AND a show. I wanted to redirect the lady: It is altogether easier to train someone on protocol or the POS system than it is to teach someone how to be a kind and polite person...obviously. Be professional, be supportive and do this in the back of the house. And this is not the first restaurant I've visited with an inappropriate environment.
What these owners fail to accept, maybe until they're in the red, is that no matter how rare their product or how delicious their food, if someone is rude or inappropriate, eventually customers are disgusted, eventually, and the cons will outweigh the pros.
I look at it like this: I'm 48 years old and it took me that long to eat here. I survived just fine for 48 years. Is the food amazing? YES. But I ain't gonna die if I don't eat here. And it wasn't like it was sooo much better than EVERY OTHER Thai restaurant. The curry was delicious and it was worth the money,...so far.
Especially, in this time of Covid, businesses should be very careful. Consumers are scarce. Money is scarce. And even if you don't feel it now, karma will bite back. I'm not saying consumers can take advantage, but we are more frugal than before. I wanted so much to tell my server to hang in there. Good employees are difficult to find. Good people seem to be critically endangered.
Ooops... So, all this apparently took the spotlight away from the food! The curries are amazing. Yes they are better than many. I've tried the green with shrimp, yellow with scallops and red with chicken. The spring rolls are unique as the outer wrapping is not as crumbly or messy and yet just as crispy and crunchy. The vegetables are fresh and service never takes very long. You know that this is good food as their take out orders are relentless. I am looking forward to tasting their other dishes ...without the drama.
Love this place. Just tried to shrimp drunken noodles with my favorite stuffed chicken wings. The drunken noodles were spicy, tangy, and sweet. Lots of umami flavors. Stuff chicken wings are good as always.
Hard to find parking.
Excellent Thai food & reasonable prices
Not the best curry I've ever had. The chicken tased weird, and there is never enough veggies. ): Just mostly coconut milk sauce.
Went to Thai Issan several times a while back. I remember that sometimes the food was excellent, but other times only average (depending who was cooking). Just ordered via Door Dash. Delivery was fast (since it was around 1:30 pm), however, the food was below par. Ordered chicken fried rice (since shrimp was not available), garlic shrimp, stuffed chicken wings, and larb moo (w/chicken and beef). The Larb moo was good. Just like the larb moo in Thailand. The garlic shrimp was disappointing (and bland- we ordered med spicy)- no garlci taste or nice flavor. The stuffed chicken wings were only ok (needed more sauce). The most disappointing was the chicken fried rice. I've never had any bad fried rice from any Thai restaurant before- but the one that was delivered today - WAS BAD! No flavor, and some parts were mushy (had small balls of rice stuck together). Don't know if I can trust a restaurant when the food comes out different all the time. 2 1/2 stars for the food delivered today.
Best sticky rice ever.
I am a FOODIE and have hundreds of spots mapped on Oahu. I say that to say that I try to not go to the same spot repeatedly so that I can scratch new restaurants off of my list. I cannot stop going here when I am craving Thai (and we live Windward side). Cheap, delicious and super fast service and oh yeah, the best part...BYOB.
A hole in the wall Thai place tucked away in the corner next to Foodland. Food was decent. Seemed pretty popular with lots of to go drivers coming and going (good sign).
My wife and I ate here last night, and we enjoyed our meals; but afterwards, we had trouble getting to sleep at home, and we both woke up around 3amin the morning, wideawake. So of course you will know what that means, they probably put MSG in everything. Whenever we accidentally eat MSG, we both have trouble sleeping that night, and are tired the next day. The food was OK, so I can’t give them a bad review for that, but there’s no reason for MSG. Make the food taste good and you don’t need it. And at least tell people if you are putting it in the food. If you guys don’t use MSG, contact me and I’ll remove this post.
Fast door dash delivery! Restaurant answered a few questions on the phone prior to ordering and very nice! I got the seafood mixed vegetables dinner. Not at all happy... Mixed vegetables yes. 1 small scallop ,2 small shrimp and a few pieces of calamari. What
the heck happened?
Much better wait staff. Good food!
It took an hour to get my order. I stood there and watched as other customers who ordered long after I did received their orders. I checked to see if my order was ready every 10 to 15 minutes, and I asked politely and tried to be understanding, but the staff became very obviously irritated by my “constant checking on my order” which I believe was 4 or 5 times over the course of about a hour. The response every single time was “we’re waiting on one more item”. This is a rating based solely on my experience with the customer service. I hope others had a better experience than I did, but I can assure you that I do not intend on returning to this restaurant considering that I’ve had much better experiences at similar establishments.
Always a good place to have lunch and dinner or take out. The dishes are all very flavorful and presented well. I think we waited for a out 15 minutes for food to come to the table. Very nice service and welcoming. I definitely need to come back and try new and different plates.
There were sand grits in the dish. Taste is not of typical Thai food, more like Chinese food.
Authentic food at incredible prices. Is this my favorite Thai restaurant in Oahu??? Could be!
My favorite Thai food on island. Everything is great.
Good food. Parking is limited
If you don’t get the pad ke mao... your wasting your life.
Lost a customer again, I would like to call for takeout but they never answer. I call before hand because they run out of things.
food is good but workers not wearing face masks when it's mandatory
Very delicious!
Why does your menu list every single ingredient in a dish except for the tons of egg thats in it??? Please fix your menu.
Great variety and authentic taste. The pad thai is one of the best here
I’ve ordered from this place 3 times since my quarantine started and got something different each time...green curry and summer roll, shrimp pad Thai, and vegetarian fried rice...each amazing. It’s easy to mess up a to-go order but they killed it
Best best best!
I have been ordering for 1 year since I moved in the area. Last 2 times you guys have dropped the ball.
Overcooked Look Fun and tonight a very small amount with barely any Chicken.
Very Disappointed.
Ordered a take out. They said it was gonna wait 20-25 min. Waited outside for 40 min to give them extra time before we go back inside and check on our orders. Time past, we check back in and still wasn't ready. Finally, they give our take out. We take it home and open it. Come to find out they gave us the wrong order. We had to drive back and had to wait another 40 min or so for our orders to be ready. When we were waiting, we also noticed the yellow card on their window. ✔food temperature ✔cross contamination
Great Thai food, friendly service, wonderful experience. Would definitely eat here again.
AROY Mak Mak!!!
Extremely poor customer service. We ordered to go and in the middle of taking our order she turned and walked away without saying anything. The food was decent but lacked flavor.
Came with wife and daughter... Asked if 3 could order and eat in and if our one daughter could bring pasta in from dinner upstairs. They said no... Upstairs pasta place said we could come up there.. we still went ahead and ordered our food from the Thai place and the hostess was very rude and short with us... Hope the food is good... Will update post on those results!
Great food, great price, great service.
Food was delicious and service was good!
Good and affordable food
We had the stuffed chicken wings, seafood pad thai and because I can never resist, summer rolls (with shrimp). Utterly delish. Fast service for a lunch hour. A+ recommend!
Small place but good food and prices. Not crowded at lunch. Worth looking for in the shopping center.
Go to spot for Thai food.
