Thai Gourmet Kitchen has taken over a family business from Kombo Kitchen starting 2024. We have been serving great Thai food around Tampa Bay area since 2012 in various locations previously. We had Thai Gourmet Market on Memorial Hwy., of which, we are still operating via food truck all around Tampa Bay, St. Pete Morning Market, and all the way down in Lakewood Ranch area. We also had Noodle Kitchen on South Howard.
We, Chef Petta, and team are very excited to keep on serving great Thai food in this area. We make our food with absolutely no MSG!!! We do not use ingredients that contains MSG. We rely on local ingredients and use no refined sugar to create our wonderful dishes.
I just ordered first time from Thai Gourmet. Oh my goodness, authentic Thailand food. Not Americanized but incredible flavor, great portions and fantastic price.
Owner is very friendly and we will be ordering more often.
This is a carry out order only but I ordered the Drunken noodle medium. Hotness is hotter than standard Thai restaurants.
Wife had the Red Curry with Tofu. She is a picky eater but loved loved it.
Kids had the fried rice and they ate it all up.
The Mango with sticky rice was fantastic.
Try try try to is place. I am attaching their menu for those who are interested.
Local people and great food. Eat here!!!!
Update Oct 2024: Food as good as ever - large portions, flavorful. They recovered from recent flooding and three tables where you can eat your takeout are improved. We enjoyed eating our food at the picnic table on a cooler day.
Update Aug 2024: We have gotten meals here three times in a month. It is worth the drive way down to South MacDill. So good! One week I portioned out the pad thai for multiple meals - huge portion.
This is a food truck that is surrounded by fencing and with a covered sort of platform in front. This is a hidden gem. Tasty pad thai, fried rice, & mango sticky rice. Super friendly owner. There is a picnic table out front and folding chairs to sit on to wait for your order. There is a little back area with a table on grass that could be improved to have better outdoor seating. But to be clear - this is a suggestion - not a criticism. I would consider this mainly a carry out place for now. This is the type of mom and pop place we like to support. We will be back!
I tried Thai Gourmet Kitchen for the first time, and I got 2 orders of the drunken noodles with chicken as my protein with one as a hot spice level and the other mild. The food was super delicious. You could taste the basil. The veggies were cooked to the perfect texture for me, and the noodles were nice and chewy just how I like them. Service was quick, and the guy taking orders was super friendly. I will say, however, the hot spice level is a different kind of hot, and I love spicy, but it was too hot for me. Next time, I'll definitely stick with a medium spice level. My lips and tongue were burning while eating my meal. Overall, I will be returning to try some other things off the menu.
So happy we stoped by this small Thai restaurant located in South Tampa (SOG) . The food was fresh and the staff are so friendly. You place your order at the small black food truck that’s attached to the building. There are a few tables to eat outside, but we ordered to go . We ordered chicken wings, vegetable pad Thai, vegetable fried rice and spring rolls. Let them know I sent you ✌️😉 -happy travels
Staying in Tampa nearby, decided to get Thai food. Everything was prepared quick and the portion sizes were very generous. Prices are pretty good for the size too.
First off, Pad Thai had a lot of flavor with the tamarind tanginess and sweetness shining through. Loved the Crab Fried Rice. It was spicy but not overpowering and the crab itself was definitely real. Helpful guest experience and from someone that is part Thai the ambience and food when I went in the evening made me feel kinda like being back home.
This place operates out of a food bus. So if you’re confused at first look for the sign on the fence pointing to the bus location. The guy at the front was super wonderful and friendly. He was also very patient with me as I was having a day but let me tell you about the food. Probably the best Thai food I have had in a while. I had the drunken noodles and my husband had the pad Thai, very flavorful Super delicious would absolutely recommend.
Some of the best food in Tampa.
My wife and I stumbled on this trailer-behind-a-fence super randomly, and after checking Google to ensure the likelihood of food-borne illness was low, we gave it a shot. We will be regulars at this place, because the food was incredible. The Pad Thai was some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the US, and the drunken noodles my wife got were even better. I am planning our next trip already to try the curry.
Egg rolls are made fresh and you can tell! Thai tea has natural sugars, so it’s a little sweeter than your typical Thai tea which is awesome. HUGE PORTIONS! so yummy. I took it for lunch and dinner the next day. Hot was very spicy, I’m sure you will need extra milk for Thai hot. Will be returning.
Amazing atmosphere at this outdoor food cart. Best potstickers in town.
Don’t let the looks fool you, the food is AMAZING! Great flavors and nice portions!
We have struggled to find good food in Tampa. Probably tried 5-6 place. Thai Gourmet kitchen is hands down the best Thai food around. They are super nice too!
We did an online order/delivery. We ordered two different meals. Both meals were exactly the same and tasted bland and only salty with a few pieces of basil. We eat Thai often and have friends who are from there and I hate to leave a bad review but this was the worst we have ever had.

Best Thai food in Tampa.Authentic & Fresh, highly recommended
I’ve been on a pad Thai kick lately, so I’ve been going to every place in the Tampa/St. Pete area, and this is definitely my favorite.
Not sure about service or atmosphere (I did a super quick drive by pick up) but oh my lord the best duck pad Thai I ever had! RECOMMENDED!
After leaving Thailand, I searched high and low for a place that captured the authentic flavors of Southeast Asia. I finally found it. 10/10, hands down. If you're a fan of Southeast Asian cuisine and crave the best, you must check this place out. Bonus: It's a food stand, just like in Thailand.
So I ordered pad thai about a week ago from them and it looks nothing like the images shown online, furthermore I paid 20 bucks for a pretty mid portion which might I add didn't even taste like pad thai at first due to a random vegetable I've never seen before in pad thai. it's an easy dish I don't know how they screw it up protein of choice then rice noodles bean sprouts egg and peanut and lime on top quite disappointing tbh will be going all the way to lemongrass for future orders. One additional point they put these images with plating but they don't have an option other than to go they shouldn't mislead customers like this, do better.
Friendly and quick service. The food is authentic and fresh, we were really happy with the quality and size of our meals. Will definitely go here again.
So I finally found my Thai place in Tampa. The owner went out of his way to accommodate my special requests. The food is excellent, especially the spring rolls. I will be coming here often.

Pad Thai and the drunken noodles were both incredible! Coming back soon to try the curry as I’ve heard good things. Sticky mango rice dessert was also delicious 10/10
My go-to spot for Thai food! The prices are reasonable, and the quality never disappoints. I especially appreciate that they pack the vegetables separately, keeping them fresh and crisp instead of soggy. Highly recommend!
My favorite Thai food that I have tried in both north and south Tampa. The food is fresh and delicious. It is obvious they put hard work into it. Thank you for not adding too much sugar like many places do. Love the curries and if you ever make a green curry, I will be so happy. :)
Excellent food

I LOVE THIS PLACE, great food and fantastic service. I recommend the yum beef it won’t disappoint
This place is a hidden gem! Must try in the South Tampa area
Just moved in across the street and very happy this is so close. Excellent food and very friendly!
Food is very good. We ordered chicken pad Thai and chicken basil fried rice with spring rolls. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Will order from here again!
phenomenal beef pad see ew with perfect spice level! owners were so nice and the seating area is perfect for a lunch time break
I got tofu basil rice and tofu Tom kha, SO GOOD! The tofu is perfectly fried and everything was super fresh. Cute outdoor seating and a very lowkey/laid back but not to be missed restaurant.
Had Drunken Noodles. Great. Will go again for sure. Food truck for best eats.
Very friendly owner and great chef.
Amazing. Wasn't expecting much when i walked up and a white guy with an accent took my order but WOW! Food is AMAZING, i ordered pad Thai and red curry both with chicken. I will be going there more often. More $ than i wanted to spend, but i feel its worth it, large portion size too.
everything is sooo good
My husband and moved to Tampa from NYC and have been missing Thai food. This place is phenomenal and more people in Tampa need to know about this place- I wish we knew sooner. The food is fresh, well prepared and we particularly loved the mango sticky rice dessert and pad Thai!
1st time since Kombo Kitchen left. Got the Chicken Pad Thai and it was amazing! I would say it was exactly like Kombo's but I'd be lying, it was better! Fresh ingredients, large servings, and amazing authentic taste! The new owner was so welcoming, I will definitely be going back!

Absolutely amazing food. Authentic, flavorful and fresh. We just got takeout and it’s absolutely spectacular. Not too sweet like most Thai places in the area. Highly recommend! We got the Panang and red curry as well as drunken noodles. Delicious!
Fresh and amazing food and even better service. A+

We ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and Larb Kai. The food was freshly made and very good. It is nice to know there is since a close Thai place that we can walk to.
Ordered the spring rolls, chicken pad Thai, and chicken Thai basil fried rice, everything was excellent! Spring rolls were nice and crispy even after the drive home. The basil fried rice is probably the tastiest I’ve ever had.
Tried pad Thai under new ownership. Not good at all. Seasoning did not incorporate in the dish and felt like super fine sand in my mouth. No depth of flavor, too simple. I personally liked previous recipe better.
Great tasting Thai food and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Food was great. Big portions and fast service. Will make sure I come back soon.
Amazing food with good portions 10/10
Place was fire. Will be back
I wanted to love the new menu/owners but sadly I just can’t. We live walking distance away from the food truck so this is a real disappointment. My husband and I both loved Kombo Kitchen (old owners, same location) and would go 2x a month. We’ve been to this new name place 3 times now, hoping it gets better and it just doesn’t. Their crab rangoons are amazing but I’m consistently disappointed in their pad Thai/pad see ew. And their pork here is absolutely disgusting, so I am now limited to chicken (allergic to shrimp). Definitely bummed and miss Kombo.

Awesome food and everything tastes super fresh. The owner was awesome explaining everything as it was my first time trying Thai food. I must say that they'll be getting another customer in the future.
This food was delicious and a great addition to the Tampa area. Fast and convenient with delicious meals and friendly service from Ian. Will be back!!!

Great spot for some quick lunch. Thai basil rice had excellent flavor. If you prefer spicy they will accommodate! Will return
If you love drunken noodles, this place is a must-try! Theirs were incredibly flavorful and some of the most authentic I've had. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu
Listen, people, Kombo Kitchen can never be replaced their customer service was unmatched, and they were truly an exception to the norm, period. Time to move on. Now, the new owner is VERY nice, I'm greeted with a smile and a friendly conversation each visit. The food imo is a bit better🫣 we LOVE LOVE LOVE it just as much! We are sold and happy to still have good SOG Thai food within walking distance of our home. These guys are my new favs & definitely what’s up!👌🏽
Best Phad Thai!! So delicious!
Our food was fantastic! I can't recommend this place more. It's incredibly authentic and the best thai I've had in Tampa. Their spring rolls are homemade and have a delicious flavor and small kick from the white pepper. The pad Thai and red curry were also fantastic. It is a new restaurant, so it's important to support them while they're starting out. Their food is amazing. The British man at the cash register was also very personable and charming.
I had some polite suggestions, as they are just beginning business. Our curry spilled on the way home because their takeout containers are not water tight. I would suggest using the cylindrical plastic tubs with lids rather than tin foil bottoms that clamp shut. Also, the outside seemed not to have been cared for in a long time and the waiting space was not terribly pleasant to wait in. It seemed like there were other people interested in dining in, but it is takeout only so a dine in option would be great. Particularly, the trash can was filthy and could use replacing. A nice outdoor space would go a long way in improving the customer experience.
Don’t come with the expectations that you’re going to get anything remotely close to the flavors from kombo kitchen. If you do, you’ll have a disappointing meal.
Got the fried potstickers as an appetizer. The filling had no flavor and the dipping sauce was just soy sauce.
For the main went with panang curry. The curry itself didn’t have much flavor. It was lacking the nutty and coconut flavor that panang curries are known for.
Also wasn’t greeted with any excitement as what we have grown accustomed to from all the years we visited kombo kitchen in the past.
Guess we will have to continue searching for a new Thai Place in the Tampa Bay Area.
The best Thai food. Great stir fried veggies, spring rolls. I added protein , thin sliced chicken. Lot’s of flavor very tender.
Some of the best Thai I have had!
This place is my favorite Thai takeout. The service is excellent, very friendly people. I’ve ordered the curry and pad see ew multiple times and I can say its by far the best Thai food I've had in the South Tampa area.
My new fav Thai food spot! Food is authentic and so good! Got a chance to talk with the new owners. They were super friendly and helpful. I will be back!
The food is amazing! This is the first time I have tried this restaurant, and I will definitely be back. I tried their drunken shrimp noodles, basil chicken, and duck. Every dish was delicious, and the portions were generous. Service was super friendly! This will be my new go to spot for Thai food!
Ian is great and this is walking distance from me! Really great Thai food 👌
Definitely the best drunken noodle I’ve had in Tampa! I’ve tried it at so many restaurants and this is my new favorite. So much flavor and noodles were cooked perfectly. Also the owners were very friendly!
I’m really disappointed. I loved Kombo Kitchen. Was my absolute fav. I ordered our usual via the phone and noticed it wasn’t the original owners voice; I thought nothing of it. On pick up i found out that Ian the new owner bought Kombo Kitchen. I was ok cool. The food is sadly totally different. The chicken panang was no where near the original recipe. We got medium spice but this came back quite a bit hotter. Plus, the vegetables in the chicken panang came separately cooked in a cup so it did not have the flavor of the sauce in them. The flavor of the panang was lack luster that we threw it out. I’m so upset that they didn’t keep the original food recipes.
1/26/2024 Response to owner reply: I appreciate your thoughtful response and everything you said makes sense. Ive updated my review rating to reflect that.
Authentically served Thai food in the bay area. The wings were delicious 😋, well made rice and veggie too.
Great service and food! Definitely will be back again. No seating - this is strictly a takeout restaurant. And if you ask for medium spice, you'll get it! Recommend mild haha!
I went there to get my usual dishes and discovered that there are in fact new owners for this place.
I was excited to try their new food but it seems that they've completely changed all of their recipes from before. The mild is much hotter than it previously was and none of the old flavors are there, every dish I ordered was different and it wasn't an improvement to me.
I don't know if the new owners bought the recipes and cooking techniques with their sale but it seems that even if they did, bthey are not following the old recipes exactly and are tweaking them to be more "traditional" instead of taking the approach of if it ain't broke don't fix it.
This used to be my favorite Thai place in the area, but it seems going to have to try to find a new one.
I may come back at 6 months to see if they went back to the old recipes or if they are insisting on sticking with new recipes, but I'm not going to hold my breath over it.
My last note is that they seem to have removed the American foods from the menu so if your kids don't like Thai food they don't really have an option anymore. I think that that's what it was for before, more for the kids than the adults. At the same time I have no idea if their American food sales were high enough to justify having them on the menu, so it might have been a warranted change.
I will update this review if I do end up visiting them again.
Very friendly owner and delicious food! Drunken noodles was 10/10!
Yummy Thai, delicious seasonings, Great portions with lots of meat.
This is my go to spot! They have great food and great prices. The meals are almost 3 servings worth. It's a local gem
Super food and really nice, friendly owner. I think they will do very well. Similar menu but prepared a little differently. Loved the parang curry. Will definitely order again soon.
Our new favorite Thai restaurant! We had the pad thai, panang curry, and potstickers. All of it tasted great! The curry portion size was a little smaller than expected but was excellent. Definitely worth trying this place out.
New owners haven’t missed a beat!
The fried rice is very good. 👍
So good! I love panang curry and the thai hot at this place is so good! I ordered to-go for lunch and my husband tasted it and ordered the same to-go for dinner! Highly recommend!
No place to sit and eat but not needed when the food is so fresh and tasty! I was hesitant to stop and eat there but I’m so glad I stayed! Food was fresh and delicious, definitely stopping by next time I come to the base .
We were sad to see Kombo Kitchen go but were very very pleasantly surprised by the new owners! The food was just as flavorful and yummy and the staff was very friendly.
