Lily is a most personable and attentive human and I always look forward to her hospitality. My youngest daughter very much enjoys this establishment as well. Every time we go to RAIN we have an amazing meal. The sushi rolls of the Funky Monkey, Cougar, and Pretty Boy were very tasty and delicious. The Pretty Boy was altered due to allergies and the restaurant was fantastic in accommodating. The edamame is always good. Highly recommend

I couldn't belive it when I saw that I hadn't reviewed Rain long ago! I've been coming here for over a decade and it has literally never once disappointed. The owners became friends and it is thr friendliest, cleanest, yummiest place. And I dare you to find better specialty rolls than Chef Bobby's! We've celebrated nearly every birthday and occasion here since we found it when ny son and Rain (the restaurants namesake) were little toddlers. Every person I've recommended come here is sold and it's the one place we can all always meet at and there's something for everyone! My favorites? Everything! But for Soup: Tom Kha Tofu, Sushi: Ultimate Daddy or Buddha when I'm doing vegetarian, Appetizer: Summer Rolls or the chicken wings are soooo good!, Entrees: Duck Panang, Crispy Noodle, Pad Thai Tofu, Pad Woon Sen but seriously I've had it all and it's all good! Do yourself a favor and good, well priced, and served with a smile.

Tried Rain first time tonight! all I can say is absolutely fabulous the Tom kha Gai soup the crispy noodle dish everything was fabulous wonderful spicy tuna roll I highly recommend this restaurant 😀

The best in every category! You can even hear the people at your table on a busy Saturday night! Leave room for their awesome homemade ice cream!

This was one of my favorite spots, but things have changed. Definitely busy on a Friday evening, but not having the server ask how food was is...not okay. Again busy hot apps came out, much smaller portions.
Hot food 30 minutes later, good for the one person, 2 others sat for another 15 minutes before sushi. Yes I asked for some modifications but it was honestly disappointing. Would have asked for something else but she never checked back. Took home half my dinner that son will probably eat...I couldn't. Then came the bussing of the table while someone was still drinking out of that glass...we get it, you wanna leave....change the hours.

Always fantastic! We are really picky with Asian food since we lived there for several years. We eat mostly veg options and love the curry, sweet potato roll,
sweet and sour tofu, pad Thai, aged tofu.

I eat here as often as I can best sushi I have ever had. The quality of the food is amazing and the presentation as well. Very friendly staff and the chef Bobby is a great guy takes pride in everything he serves.

We did not try the Thai dishes that many people were ordering. I would not recommend the sushi (which is what we ordered).

Rain is and has always been consistently delicious since my family and I first started going a few years back. Their Thai selection is phenomenal - I've never had a bad thing.

BUT! What we go back for all the time is their sushi. They have a stellar variety and it's always delicious.

They also have a pretty awesome seaweed salad, and their summer rolls are great too!

Went here the other night for the party of 4. Food was just okay but they have good looking sushi, might try it next time.

Nice venue, friendly staff, nice menu. Sushi was good, top-quality fish, generous portions, specialty rolls were a bit more innovative than most, tastefully prepared and well balanced. Only complaint is that the shari (sushi rice) was far too soft and tightly compacted, also not well flavored. Fix that, and this place would be one of the best in town for sushi.

My wife and I love this restaurant. By far our most favorite place to eat. 100 percent recommended this restaurant.

We walked in not knowing the restaurant had just closed but we we welcomed in and seated anyway. The service in this restaurant was efficient and the server was very attentive. The tempura was cooked well, the rolls and sushi presented well and the restaurant was clean. Very good experience but I wish they would stay open a little later than 8:00 p.m.

Wow my first time trying Rain and I'll never go anywhere else. The best Thai and Japanese food. I'll be going back again very soon, luckily very close to our home too. Wish i hadn't waited so long.

Been here at least 30 times, sushi rolls are the best in pinellas county! They have real crab here too, very few sushi restaurants do. Thai tea is great, gyoza is good and the sushi masters are friendly and do great on the rolls and presentation. Staff is always friendly and attentive and prices are good especially with the better quality ingredients! If you love sushi you need to try Rain sushi!

Rain is a hidden gem. The location is in an old shopping center and from the outside it’s easy to miss. The sushi is good, the service great, and the staff is personable. This has become a regular spot for me.

The service was great. The food was decent. It is a bit too dark inside, making it hard to read the menus. Pricing is a bit steep as well. In my opinion, I feel like unless you've had real authentic Thai food to compare, this place was fair at best.

This is a wonderful hidden gem when it comes to sushi. Customer service was wonderful, prices were better than other places in the area and food was top quality. I will definitely be back soon.

A hidden gem with excellent service. Sushi was terrific.

Went on a friend's strong recommendation. First time with him was fine, but this time my girlfriend and I went and were very disappointed. Nigiri in the sushi appetizer (chef's choice) was very low quality. The super elaborate rolls are decent, with plenty of variety, and are a great way to hide the sub par fish. In hind sight I should have sent back everything except the miso soups.

My girlfriend and I both eat sushi and seafood regularly, but feel ill after eating at Rain.

The ambiance can be loud. We were lucky to come when it was quiet because there were only two tables that were taken. Colorful decor. Reasonable prices. The sushi rolls we ordered were unique and delicious. The menu offers Japanese and Thai dishes. There is a goid variety. They even offer frog legs. 🐸 Does anyone actually order that? 😆 our server was friendly and attentive but interruptive, too. The cheese rangoons tasted weird. Overall, we had a nice meal at a good price.

Tom kha tested like a bad watery seafood soup with lots of salt.

I ordered noodles with vegetables and I received 4 pieces of vegetables.

Don't waist your time and money go somewhere else.

This is exactly the type of Thai restaurant that I love. Very low key, with limited interior decorations. The entrees were very good, particularly the panang curry. The server was delightfully pleasant and helpful in choosing the panang. Great recommendation! Prices are infinitely reasonable for the delicious and fresh food you get. I definitely will be back.

Fresh Sushi, pleasant waitress, comprehensive menu and good service. So, then, why 4 instead of 5 stars? Soup was room temperature, at best, and food-price-quality-portion size was a bit out of sync.

Like most Sushi restaurants, less rice, more 🐟 🐠 🎣 🐡 seems to be the key.

Yes, yes, I'm aware of the ongoing inflationary environment, but at $12 per roll . . . A bit of fish won't hurt.

Overall good experience, average or slightly above food quality, with slightly higher prices.

Oh man, we REEEEALLY wanted to love their food. Presentation was fantastic and the menu is full of creative, seemingly bold-flavored rolls and entrees. After a bite however, they fell flat

I ordered the stalker roll, which supposedly has spicy crawfish inside with smelt roe and scallions, covered on top with tuna, salmon, and spicy teriyaki sauce and wasabi mayo. Once you read this description, you are expecting a bold, spicy explosion of flavors in your mouth. However, once I tasted... this happened to be one of the mildest rolls I've ever had. Just a tiny zing after putting almost the entire sidr serving of wasabi on top of the other 2 presumably spicy toppings.i had to dip it in gochujang sauce and spicy chili sauce that I had at home to have some flavor. Also, couldn't taste the smelt roe? Either nonexistent or such tiny sprinkle inside I couldn't taste it.

My husband had the house special fried rice. It came with huge chunks of chicken, beef, shrimp, and many other ingredients, which made it look GREAT. But then again, after you taste it, it really is nothing to write home about.

We were respecting way more flavor and everything seemed way too mild. Maybe most positive reviews are dated. Rain should really take note of their older reviews and make their dishes BOLD again! Please! With your amazing- looking menu, there's so much potential!

This establishment has zero clue about customer service. Never do you allow a table to sit and wait for an hour for their entrees without a visit from a manager. Nor would you allow the customers to leave without an apology. What a joke. The owner didn’t apologize until I mentioned it again over the phone today. There’s a reason why we are Thai Orchid loyalists, thanks for the reminder.

Service was great. I got the fried duck curry for lunch as a recommendation. The duck was under everything so mushy as heck with the curry sauce and veg on top. I couldn't tell if it was fat or batter a few times and wanted to spit it out but was with a group. I don't remember giving such a low rating to a restaurant. They really need a sushi chef who can at least cook rice properly. That white mushy substance on the rolls is anything but sushi rice that one would expect to have on their sushi rolls. The only reason it's not one star review is because the fish was fresh and the service was good.

We've tried this place a few times now after so many people have said how good it is. Each time we'd hoped to find that joy and simply have not. The food is sadly just OK and not enough for us to go back again with better options available. The Pang curry chicken was very watery and lacked the key flavors of a solid Panang curry sauce. I asked for Thai hot and still had to load it up from the spice tray to get some heat and flavor. The sushi again is ok, basic at best. With places like Blue Fugu and Ming Ming being much better and even the all u can eat Umami being comparable to better. Better Thai is had at Thai Am #2 and Lanna Thai... My wife had the Grouper that came in a Panang curry sauce. The Grouper came out fried, tempura style, very disappointing and somewhat disrespectful to such a good fish.. she did her best to peel off the thick batter and underneath was a tasty fish.. this place needs a lot of work including the very basic and bland strip store feel... Sorry, just not for us.

To start with, I'm thai and eat alot of sushi. I've been to really bad places, and world class restaurants with renowned michelin star chefs. This restaurant in particular I came to check out because they had pretty good reviews. Unfortunately, I cannot agree with them. The service is good and the restaurant is clean.

My wife is Chinese and ordered the Thai green curry with chicken. She mentioned it was the milkiest Thai curry she's ever had while also lacking flavor. I ordered the Sushi Jo which surprisingly came with a nice variety of fish. Unfortunately, majority of the fish had a dry matte look and mushy texture which tells me its not as fresh. Flavor and quality wasn't there. The miso soup was watered down and tasted like someone added a bunch of salt to make up for it. The salad was typical with decent dressing. I requested low sodium soy sauce and it tasted like regular soy sauce that someone added water to. Rice within the sushi was mushy and overly seasoned with mirin. The seaweed used to wrap the nigiri and roll was thin and of cheap quality.

I also ordered the Botan Ebi which gets confused as Ama Ebi. This to my surprise was fresh and sweet with the shrimp head fried perfectly and a slight drizzle of unagi sauce over it which was just right. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was not of the same caliber. I tried this place due to the high markings, but I dont see how they are justified. If you enjoy big special sushi rolls with 8 different fish in it and drenched in 3 sauces, this may be the place for you. In my opinion, there are better restaurants in the area for the price paid.

We've only been sushi eaters for about 5 years now and we haven't tried many different places, but we were having a date night and saw good reviews for Rain and decided to give it a try. So glad we did. How beautiful they've decorated inside. We went early, just after 5, and they hadn't gotten busy yet. They were by the time we left. The waiter was so nice and helpful. Sushi can be intimidating if you're not experienced, but she talked us through a few selections and gave us some delicious recommendations. Then came the sushi. Wow. So good. We ordered 3 rolls. Chicka-wow-wow with fried chicken. Delicious. A veggie roll with Pumpkin. Different, but in a good way. The Key West with conch. Loved it. Their options were so unique to us. The prices were good too. We really enjoyed ourselves and are definitely coming back.

Always a solid choice! The Panang Currie with tofu is my go to dish...I literally will crave it...but they hsve a terrific sushi menu as well. It is a hidden jewel tucked away in a strip center but worth 'discovering.'

I’d say a 2.5 almost a three- everyone there is super nice whenever we take out. But In the last year or so We don’t know what changed but the food has been…. Flavorless? We used to get take out here almost weekly and then took a take out hiatus. We’ve started going intermittently since hoping the food would get better. My pad Thai is always bland, as is my husbands food I might as well get plain pasta. Just sad bc it used to be our go to Thai place!

Thai food was okay, nothing to write home about. I wouldn't avoid it but with all the other Thai places in the area I probably wouldn't go for Thai again. Maybe their sushi is better.
