Family-run venue serving standard Thai dishes in a cozy, unassuming space, as well as takeout.
Iβm not sure what I attempted to eat but this was the worst pad thai Iβve ever had. One big clump of dry noodles with some peanuts sprinkled over the entire dish, which added to the dryness. Not even a lime on the side. I ordered this on the mild side but it was completely flavorless even with shrimp added. This restaurant should be ashamed of themselves for identifying as a Thai restaurant. Total waste of money and grub hub fees, delivery was also lateπ‘
I have been living in Thailand for the past six years. When I come home to Dover, DE I always look for an authentic place to eat Thai food. Soooooo glad I discovered this place. I have actually been to the province that the owner and her mother are from. It was very nice to carry on a conversation with them in Thai language. This place is definitely authentic.
Letβs get to the food, these ladies definitely did not forget how to cook their native Thai dishes. Everything was seasoned perfectly! When I asked the owner to turn up the heat, like I like, although I would have liked it to be spicier, it was to my satisfaction.
I will be back! Kob Khun Krab!
My favorite Thai food in Delaware. Service can be slow, but food is worth it. My go to is the flat noodle with spicy basil sauce with chicken. My wife loves their pad thai and the Thom yum spicy soup is so good.
This is real Thai by real Thai folks. Family run, theyβll make it as spicy as you like
We came in at 6:09 and it's 6:40 when I wrote this review. Only a tom yum soup and 2 cokes have come out. They said they were having a busy night but there were undone tables with dirty dishes not taken into the back. Tom yum soup was the most mediocre I have ever tasted and we have been to SO MANY thai restaurants. We chose this one because it was recommended and we were on the middle of highway.

This place is a favorite for delicious authentic Thai cuisine

Place is good. Itβs a family restaurant, very nice server and the portion sizes are above average in my opinion. This was my second time here and I like it. Food is all cooked to order.
This place never lets me down for the crusted Duck in Basil Sauce (spice heat at 2 stars). I have been to many Thai restaurants for duck (in basil sauce) and only found some to be close not as great as it is here. Due to the size of the place there is normally just one server so it does take a little time to get your order but worth it!
Pulled off of the highway for a disappointing meal. A very long wait for mediocre food. Burned pad Thai. No lime or chopsticks. Server was nice, but that was the highlight. Unfortunately would not return.
Kids were running around while adults sat in a completely different section and basically ignored them. Restaurant was super busy which didn't bother me except for the kids disturbing everyone trying to eat. Food was fantastic
We had fantastic food . . fantastic service on a Saturday evening . . in an empty space because this place is on the edge of the "hood" of Wilmington DE. Perhaps they make their money on take out?
Very Dreary Atmosphere. I am from Thailand. I can honestly say this is the worst Thai food that I have ever tasted. The service was slow too. Go to any other Thai restaurant instead.
Drove 30 mins only to be turned away and told there's no dine in, just take out. We did try to call but it went straight to voicemail. We really wanted to go out the house and dine in, how were we supposed to know that they were only accepting take out?
Three of us went for dinner. We ordered the dumplings which were tasty and served with a nice sauce. Two of us ordered Panang which was served with strips of beef that were overcooked and tough, but the curry was fine. One of us ordered Pad kee mow which never arrived. It seemed like there was only one person working and the concentration was on take out rather than dine in.
Don't come for the decor. Come for the food! Best Thai food in Wilmington! In the back, they have a play area for kids, like 8 and younger. So bring the kids, fantastic place.
Great take out!
Came inside to no one, on my 2nd attempt but they came out shortly after. My Shrimp Pad Thai was terribly dry and flavorless. I tried this from somewhere local so that I didnβt have to travel out.
I could not eat here. Walked in and it smelled funny. No one greeted us but there was a couple at a table so we knew theyβd be out to serve them and see us. 15 minutes went by and no one came out. When she finally did, she said βknock on the door when you know what you want to eat.β The menu was very limited and there were no descriptions for the food. We left.
Stopped in for the first time for some takeout. I had to go to restaurant and order because their phone went right to voicemail and said the mailbox was full which was a bit weird. Once there, the woman behind the bar was very friendly and took my order. They were out of duck. Apparently it's been very difficult to get lately. That's not a knock against them. Supply issues are affecting everyone right now. Unfortunately, what dropped my review to a 3 was the food itself. None of the chicken was velveted and was dry as a result. My red curry was lacking in flavor. The noodle dish was slightly better but still not great. The shumai was the one bright spot. It was tasty and had a nice dipping sauce. Overall we were a bit disappointed. That's just our experience though. You may feel differently.
Food is so sweet
My daughter and I really enjoyed an authentic, Thai family-owned/operated curry dinner tonight. We dined-in. The red curry was an explosion of delicious flavor with every bite! So glad they were open with seating. The menu is short and concise, as it should be. Pictures would've been nice, but they're more than happy to explain the menu descriptions and give recommendations, since it's authentic Thai. A few menu items weren't available, ice for drinks, not much AC, etc, but that's the economy impact and we didn't mind being a little flexible to help a wonderful family establishment stay in business. My daughter and I love delicious, spicy, authentic Asian foods. If you do also, consider stopping by Bangkok House and help support local, authentic, delicious restaurants!
Amazing, I mean amazing, fresh food. The restaurant is authentic and charming. This place is a hidden jewel.
This place is a family opened awesome place. Consistently fantastic. A secret I share with lots of people. Please click 'like' if you like my reviews... Just went back, post COVID. Good is better than ever. Man we missed this place!
We stopped in around 5pm and there was no one anywhere. There were multiple tables with dirty dishes and food. There were unpleasant odors of spoiled food and the floors were dirty.
We have been here a few times, and the food has been good, and at times, excellent. The problem is that we don't live close by and want to place a takeout order. Yet we call, and are never able to get through. So we have to go in person and wait 30 minutes (or more), while the food is prepared. The last time we went, the person working the register and taking orders was on the phone for a personal call. She was talking the entire time I was waiting for my order. It was clear she really wasn't interested in the business. Since then, we haven't been back. It's a shame because we liked the food - but we value our time as well.
Great food and better service
Food and owners are wonderful, but you canβt help but notice the air filter thatβs covered in years of dust, right when you enter, that kind of makes you pause as to cleanliness.
A little tidiness goes along way!
Their tofu is to die for!!!
I always order their Pad Thai because it is delicious!
Good food good prices
Bangkok House is a staple in Wilmington. They have been around forever and they NEVER disappoint. Everything is made fresh to order. Family owned and operated plus they are always pleasant and accommodating. The young lady who takes my order is like a breath of fresh air. Itβs rare to get such good customer service now a days, and I work in the field. My only complaint is that they are closed on Monday! Remember to leave a couple bucks tip for take out and 20% minimum for dine in. They are truly a gem.
I have tried the food at Bankok House. I loved the food, atmosphere and the conversation with the employees. The owner of this restaurant is very friendly and patient. I will be going back again, to try other traditional Thai dishes. #121 on the menu is my next choice. The owner of Bankok House, told me about it. ππππ You have to try their food! It's my favorite restaurant in the area. The many awards on the wall of the restaurant aren't there for nothing. I assure you.
One of my favorite places. They ways get it right. Been going for 5 years now
Mannnnn listen..... the food here is bangin!
The best Tai food in Delaware!
Spicy or not spicy. One of the best Thai fried rice my fiancΓ© and I have ever had!! We drive 20 mins to this place for take out.
The restaurant is clean the staff are nice
The food is really really good. But it's never ready when u call ahead.
Easy ordering and food was delicious!
Very good food
Always Enjoy. Good Food
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I've only been living in Delaware for about 5 months. I had a taste for Thai tonight, went online and Bangkok was the 1st thing that popped up. After reading the outstanding reviews, I figured EVERYONE couldn't be telling the same lie! (lol)
The Shrimp Pad Thai is OFFICIAL! I picked up take-out and I had a lovely conversation with the beautiful young lady who rang me out. The meal was absolutely exceptional! I'm definitely taking my boyfriend back so we can dine in. There's nothing better than having a craving.......And finding a spot that totally satisfies it! πππππ
Best of all
Bangkok is one of the few restaurants that truly has hot & spicy food. My husband loves it!
Absolutely amazing food. Wonderful environment so friendly and welcoming
Excellent Thai.
Good food
Our favorite place for those nights when we cannot decide what to cook (or dont want to cook). Authentic dishes made to order. We have dined there and called in for take out. Food is great either way. Everything we have had has been great, but we seem to gravitate to one dish in particular fried rice with thai basil, green beans and a choice of shrimp, chicken or beef. One warning, if the menu says spicy, it means what it says. We love spicy food, the first time there we ordered things "extra spicy" we should have known from the raised eyebrow of the waitress that extra spicy was not needed.. so, if you dont like spicy food either choose one of the many dishes that are mild or ask them to tone down the spice.. they are very accommodating. One of the best things? The portions are LARGE and the food is GREAT the next day.
A good family owned restaurant..taste is excellent though the service is slow because the owner is a one man army. Mother is a cook ( cooks yummy food) and the daughter runs the restaurant.. over all great food
My food was good.. Only gripe I have is the service is soooooo slow! The server was nice and my food was hot π I didn't give 5 stars because they need to air out the restaurant and clean the carpets.. I would go back but I would do take out instead ..
Place came highly recommended, its off the beaten path (Read I-95) and is in a cozy corner of wilmington. I Went there on a Friday about 45 min before closing time. Place had two to three customer parties and most of it was empty. ENough parking space in the front. Ordered the Padthai and another dish for my wife. The food was authentic thai - I liked the dish ordered for my wife but my own dish though a bit sweet . the only gripe was that the dish seemed to have been cooked in a pan that must have been used for soemthing else, because it had a smell to it that wasnt great. that said, the prices were reasonable. there are no kids meals but the food is enough that one dish can easily be shared by two kids.
Great Thai food. Slow service.
Food was ok..there was some construction happening when we went.. serving was nice.
Ordered take-away for a diverse group for lunch. Several different dishes ordered... rice dish, noodle dish, soup, etc.. Everyone enjoyed the food, good flavor, and both ordering and the staff were friendly. Will definitely head here again!
Ive never had a bad meal. Spiced the way I ask and willing to accommodate changes to a dish. Nice, affordable, family run business. Food is great, cook is wonderful and the hostess and bartender are the best you can ask for! Ill be back a few more times Im sure!
The food was great, but I sat for about 10 minutes before even getting water and there were stink bugs all around and on my table.
This is the perfect spot for thai. I dine here at least once a week. The food is never a disappointment. This a family run restaurant so with that comes enjoying the delightful grandson of the chef/owner. I have tried the fried rice, soup, and pompano fish just to name a few favorites all are delicious.
Best Thai food around! Highly recommend
Great food. Good service.
Best Thai food!
Went into this establishment and the tables were dirty with food actually stuck on the table I sat at. The waitress wiped the table with a DIRTY WHITE TOWEL.
The food is good and the hostess is very friendly...i will definitely be back
You want Thai food? Go here!
Good service . Great food ! Will definitely be going back soon .
This where I go when besides good food, I need to spice in my soul.. real hot spice
My first time was excellent I will go back again and recommend my friends
Great and comfort thai food. I enjoyed it. Lunch menu can be a little more enticing. Only one condiment option which is salad. Can include some appetizers OR option. And salad have only lettuce, could add more veggies.
Ambience & food ok but it smelled stinky at times. Water tasted bad
Great menu and service. It's frequented by regulars and the local neighborhood and while a bit difficult to locate, it can quickly become someone's favorite. Parking can be a hassle and it's located on a one-way street to make it even more difficult. But dont give up, I'm sure you'll enjoy the meal.
Best food east of Thailand
Great place my first wont be my last. I enjoyed my meal vary much. Only thing I was displeased with is when I sat to eat. I didnt have a fork. So, I was forced to eat off two knifes.
The chicken coconut soup was amazing and so was the Tofu Pad Thai. Losing one star for the food coming out slowly but besides that the experience was awesome and the waitress was really sweet. Would highly recommend this place!
Delicious food in family atmospher. I'll be a regular from now on

I will be back! Kob Khun Krab!
Best Thai in the area. Excellent curry and Pad Thai. Also try the Tom Yum Gai soup. Best to order take out on weekend because dishes are cooked to order.
Love this place..atmosphere is really comfortable and people are like family..not to mention food is really authentic
A quiet, no frills restaurant with good food and service.
Great food
Excellent food and friendly service!
I went to two different thai resturarest to see which would be the best in Thai within Wilmington, DE. I went to Ubon at the Riverfront and Bangkok House off of Union St. Both locations we're okay. My boyfriend ordered the pad Thai and we both agreed that we could have made better pad Thai if we had the ingredients in our kitchen. I order the crispy duck with red curry and I honestly don't think I got ebenou food for the price I payed ($19.00). Otherwise the dishes was delicious. I still have not found the best Thai restaurant in Wilmington. My favorite Thai restaurant is Tasti Thai in New Castle they don't skimp on portion sizes and have an overall different style compared to Bangkok and Ubon.
The food was delicious. The interior is a little outdated but don't let that bother you.
Good food and nice service
Best Thia food in Town...
I agree with Harris in the prior review. This is one of the best Thai kitchens Iβve had the good fortune to enjoy. Itβs a mother daughter team in the kitchen and they are excellent. I feel the menu is difficult to understand because it only lists one or two ingredients of a dish when there are usually multiple ingredients. I got to a place where I just gave one word like ginger, basil, or cashew and boom - beautiful, colorful fresh with a health side of rice and plenty of βgravyβ to mush it into! Downside street parking is wholly inadequate and dining room dated. This kitchen is a 4.5. I have been there two and three times in a week. Highly recommended.
Very nice. The food is delicious
I am sorry that this is the best Thai that some people have had. Pad Thai soggy and with minimal taste. Satay chicken flavorless and dumplings soggy.
Fabulous food. It is one of the best Thai restaurants that I have ever eaten in. That includes, New York City, Washington DC, California, etc. Unbelievably, the restaurant was practically empty.. The neighborhood is older but only 9 minutes from downtown Wilmington where we went to the Opera House. This is a jewel and prices are reasonable for this quality food.
I enjoyed my food the whole vibe..I sat down and ate my meal..spicy shrimp soup shrimp fried rice and shrimp dumplings very good & traditional
Delicious and cozy
Great food
Authentic , Traditional Thai restaurant.
Great tasting food.
We have be eating here for years.
Fantastic noodle and curry dishes.
It's amazing for sea food.. just we had chicken clear soup which was extremely spicy..
Hidden gem on the way from NY to DC. We stopped by because of a convenient and short detour. The place was empty but quickly filled up. The crowd was local and easygoing. Food was fantastic. And service friendly. What else can you ask for?
Great food great prices
Good food at good price. People are warm and friendly. The citrus plant as a center piece not only adds to the ambience but also to the flavors of the dishes which use the fresh leaves.
The only room for improvement is that the interiors could use an upgrade.
Had red curry...tasty
Hands down the best Thai place around.
Great service but not good food, who cooks cucumber, yuck, and smells bad
Delicious, authentic Thai. Staff super friendly, like family.
The food is awesome.
Hidden gem. The food was very good. So good I was surprised the place was so empty. The service was also fantastic. You can tell it's a family owned place. Definitely recommended.
The Pad Thai is wonderful there! All of their dishes are extremely tasty and authentic! The staff is so knowledgeable about the menu if you are a first timer, they will walk you through it. Parking is minimal but I never had a problem finding a parking space. Cute area of town, lot's of business's and family owned restaurants in that area.
The pad thai is always good and my husband has finally found some spicy dishes. Dining in is cozy and take-out is available. The restaurant may be easy to miss so keep your eyes open for the green and white sign.
Spicy, friendly
The food is so good but the decor gets a thumbs-down.
La comida es deliciosa y te atienden muy bien lo recomiendo
The food is fantastic!
Very good food and very fresh a must go if you love Thai food. Amazing!
Best Thai food in Wilmington. The area is not the best but the food is worth it. Can't go wrong with the pad Thai soup and curries.
Wonderful food and amazing service. The Pad Thai is through the roof. Highly recommend to anybody.
Love their drunken noodles. Consistently Fresh. Place is dingy. Would give 5 stars if the place inviting to stay longer and eat in.
I love the food. I find that food is prepared very fresh. For example one time I wanted so.ething with shrimp and they said they were out. About a minute later I see somebody come in with a bag of fresh shrimp. And our server came out and said they can do the shrimp dish I wanted. That's fresh.
The service is horrible, my wife and i are the only one that was in the restaurant and it took 20 minutes for the food to come out. After we were serve with our meals, never saw the waitress again, soda cup was empty and 2 glass of water was empty , she never return after giving us our food. I went to pay for my meal amd she never even said thank you or anything..i will never come here again for as long as i live
Best Thai food in Delaware. Authentic Thai and they will actually serve it Thai hot -- so many won't spice it up, but they will until they get it just where you want.
The best Pad Thai I've ever had. FRESH, great, complex favors. Accompanied it with Thai Lager, fresh, perfectly cooked spring rolls. To start, had Tom Kha Gai, which was very good. Will definitely come back to try the Green Curry. However, it receives 4 stars, to be fair to other restaurants, because service was only decent, very slow, even if kind. It won't keep me from coming back, but to others who might be in a rush, my pad Thai took about 45 mins with no explanation of wait and with no other customers to deal with. Just an FYI.
My family has been eating here for years and we have not found another Thai restaurant in our area where the food is this good.
For starters, the location is pretty crappy. A dingy tiny place with little parking in a sketchy part of town. The food didn't make up for that either, the spring rolls were good but the pad thai was basically flavorless, chewy rice noodles. I'd pass it up.
Lived in Bangkok for 5 years. Bangkok House has real Thai food not an Americanized version. Great place to go to have the real thing and to practice my Thai!!
Consistent quality...excellent pad thai
The best pad thai I have ever eaten
