Santa Barbara Public Market is a great place to visit for meals … there is a good variety and enough seating. Most importantly, everyone in the family can order their food, and meet up to eat together i.e…. It’s a food court :) we’ve visited the place and eaten at other restaurants before - this time, we tried 3 monkeys! The restaurant is easy to miss on a sweep, as it is tucked away between a sushi and bagel place… the food choices are decent - we ordered the banh mi and the rainbow salad. The chicken and tofu banh mi were delicious - served with some fried rice cakes, but the salad was a huge disappointment- honestly, just skip it! The greens are plenty, but raw sliced carrots, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes with a tiny serving of fried shallots with an even tinier smattering of peanut dust did not make for an appealing salad! The portions are not very big for the price - but that’s true of every restaurant I’ve tried in there IMO! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.
Yum! Just had the Pork Bahn Mi sandwich for lunch. Took it home to eat. Lots of great flavors, a little heat and the bread! Crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside! Highly recommend. Everyone is so nice there! A little hidden in the back of the market. Head straight back to the left.
Unfortunately, this restaurant microwaves their meat skewers. This is very disappointing to learn and restaurants should not be microwaving their food. It seems like they pre-cook the skewers and then let them sit for a while and then simply heat them up in a microwave for a few minutes before serving. Otherwise the food is decent here and a good value all things considered but yeah the microwaving is a pass.
Decent place for southeast Asian / Thai food in the back of the Public Market. Ordered a pork banh mi and a lunch box. The food tasted pretty good, no complaints and the banh mi was fairly authentic. The one thing that was a bit different was the bread - this banh mi was more like a traditional French baguette where normally it would be a little airier. Food quantity vs price ratio was a little on the lower side.
FAB food. Cute location. They’re tucked back in the corner of the public market, so don’t miss it!
The pork banh mi is amazing!! I’m a snob about my banh mi and hadn’t found the ~right one~ here on SB…until Three Monkeys moved into town! They’ve got the meat marinated right, fresh and pickled veg, plus that toasty roll and sweet mayo…you don’t want to sleep on this place.
I want everyone to go here so that they will never leave SB 💗

Food is always delicious! Mongolian tofu and popcorn tofu is where it’s at. Have also had the tofu sandwich and it’s the bomb. Best vegan food in the public market!!

The Rainbow Salad was colorful and delicious and so impressive!
Very unique food, well cooked!
Chicken satay is great. However, I warn against ordering the sticky rice. It comes wrapped in Saran Wrap and appears to be microwaved in the plastic. Like a floppy brick of rice, couldn’t even taste due to its rubbery texture.
Went to Public Market on a short lunch break and found this great spot by accident. I wanted a small, reasonably priced bite and this place delivered! I ordered the Thai chicken skewers and a side of rice. With tip, still <$20 and had leftovers! The girl working there was prompt and friendly, even during holiday weekend lunch rush. Definitely will be returning!
Horrible waste of money🥺🥺🥺😡😡😡😡
Very nice food. We had the beef stir fry and hungry box with skewers. Both were very tasty and restaurant quality. The skewers were chargrilled with a very nice taste. We also had coconut bread pudding that was to die for. Only downside is that the service is without a smile, but the food is easily the best in the place. Other patrons were asking where we got it.
Food was very tasty. And the atmosphere at the food court was nice and relaxing
The sandwiches (Banh Mi) is awesome, and the skewers and hungry box is delicious!
If you are thinking of ordering from Empty Bowl, get your appetizers and proteins from here. Or take a chance and order noodles from here. You're gonna wait for 30min for your order from Empty Bowl. So if you are there with your buds or on a date, endure the wait with a beer. If you are with hungry people/kids/monkeys, get your food from Three Monkeys.
I ordered the Hat Yai fried Chicken, TWICE, because my two kids devoured it so fast before noodles from Empty Bowl arrived. The beef skewers were also very tasty, tender and not dry!
I would strongly recommend this place.
Tucked all the way at the back corner of the public market is this place. Got the hungry box1 with chicken, pork and beef skewers. The skewers are good. Not a lot of options on the menu but I guess that makes it easier to order. Was expecting some other thai food options like pad thai for a thai spot lol but nonetheless good spot that we found wondering around Santa Barbara
Food was really good, helpfully staff, fast service would recommend!
Hungry box #1
Had one of each, Chicken, Pork and Beef. Chicken was super good even the pork, well spiced and flavourful. Beef was bit on the tuff dry side. Good lunch portion, salad was fresh and rice well cooked.
Food took about 20mins, used the time to walk around the Public Market.
If you time it right, there is an icecream place inside that offers a free kids scoop with an adult scoop purchased (3-4pm, $8)
We go inside for lunch time
Id not be busy
The employee very nice
Problem is the food
Flooded with fish sauce
Yes this in the menu say has fish sauce but men thus is to much
Some one there like fish sauce
You order beef and is smell like fish
Else the beef is very very gummy not eatable
Unfortunately this time is only 2 star
I don’t like do it but this my experience
One of the better banh mi I have had!!
Great Thai food, love the place.
Ordered the beef Banh Mi. Omg... it was mind blowingly juicy and good. I think that was the best Banh Mi I've ever had. Unfortunately, I went back to try the pork and chicken and they were no where close to as good as the beef. I highly recommend trying it. It also does take about 20 minutes for them to make it.
