Simple spot for classic Thai fare plus non-standards like spicy “angel wings” in chile-garlic sauce.
If you like Thai Food then search no further, this spot is among the top in the city when it comes to pad see ew for sure! I will have to return to try more and I’ll be back soon.
Angel Wings to start and they were delicious! Crispy Outside with a not to sweet sauce with nice size juicy chicken wings.
Pad See Ew for the entree and it was very good, huge portion. Chicken was very fresh along with the veggies and it wasn’t dry. Flavor was good.
I will definitely recommend this Thai spot to others!
The thai food was very tasty and flavourful. The veggie pad kee mao and it had a lot of veggies and tofu. The spring fried rice was also pretty good. For appetizers we had imperial rolls and roti kanai. The roti kanai was not good as the roti was too oily. You will feel the aromas as soon as you enter which is amazing. The place is a little cramped up through with tables too close to each other. I would recommend for good food but not for a great ambience.
I had been wanting to try this location since its opening, and finally got the chance to try it out. I was expecting everything to be the same as the original Marnee Thai; but the experience was somewhat disappointing.
I wasn't too fond of the ambience. It was narrow inside. The dim lighting made the space seem even more narrow. The table surface was small, which made it inconvenient for us to fit the dishes.
The hot Thai tea was just lukewarm, which was totally unfitting for the December weather. The Pad See Ew was good. So were the spinach dishes. The Coconut Stir Fried Noodle was too dry, and could have used more taste. The portion of all the dishes were good, though.
I give a thumbs-up for the courteous customer service.
For those who haven't tried either Marnee Thai locations, this might be a good one to try first.
One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood! Never have to wait for a table but the inside always feels cozy and lively. Food is delicious and spicy and the portions are huge for the price. Service is quick and friendly. Great casual neighborhood spot.
I have to say, competition among restaurants is the best thing for customers.
I live in a neighborhood where you can find five different Thai restaurants, in addition a few Korean and Chinese restaurants.
However, I just love Thai food.
So, why os competition so good for us food lovers?
Well, at first it was Marneee Thai, years ago. Then their customer service and quality of food went down a few years back. Then the completion opened shop at various places. Then the pandemic hit. Once it was safe to go out again, I tried various Thai restaurants in my neighborhood. One of them was of excellent quality, better than OSHA Thai, which has no restaurant in my area. Their food was two classes better than I was used from Marnee Thai. I gave them a rave review.
And then magic happened. I tried Marnee tonight, and I was totally surprised about the quality of their dishes. No more greasiness. No more poor service. No more overcooked rice. Everything was not just perfect for my taste. It was the first time that I tasted Thai food of such unexpected quality. It even tasted healthy.
I had ordered three main dishes and my favorite dessert, sticky rice with mango. Every single dish was a symphony of flavor, color, and fragrance. The ingredients were absolutely fresh. The sticky rice with mango contained double the mango of competitors. And it was the ripe and juicy kind.
What shall I say? Hi five to true competition and to the fact that competitors know about each other and then try to outclass each other.
Got the yellow curry and duck pineapple fried rice. Both were superb! Fried rice was slightly salty however. Great restaurant nonetheless and will come back again!
Fantastic food!
Delicious, tasty Thai food is what you will find at Marnee Thai, and I say this with dozens of visits under my belt. My favorite dish is the pumpkin curry with prawns. I often skip right past the specials to order this dish.
Got the yellow curry and duck pineapple fried rice. Both were superb! Fried rice was slightly salty however. Great restaurant nonetheless and will come back again!
The food isn’t as good as it was over 5 years ago.
Pretty good food, but the water quality feels a bit off.

Amazing Thai food. Best Som Tum I have had since Koh Samui. My new favorite Thai restaurant. Aroi Mak Mak!! ❤️❤️❤️
One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood! Never have to wait for a table but the inside always feels cozy and lively. Food is delicious and spicy and the portions are huge for the price. Service is quick and friendly. Great casual neighborhood spot.
Loved the food , waiter was really nice. Will be back next time we are in the City again
Ottimo ristorante Thai, prezzi ragionevoli e servizio veloce.
The banana curry is amazing
Thank you for trying to fit us in. The food looked and smelled delicious.
its good here..try to come for lunch because the prices did go up ... its a better deal during lunch..the seasonings and flavor are still tasteful..be specific and say your not in a hurry and they will make it good i know it sounds bad but they still are busy
Très bonne
Mplace !
I love the restaurant decor! I used to come here all the time with my Grandma and the waiters were always super kind! This is my go to spot for Thai food
Pretty good, which was all I was looking for.
I agree, this place seeks like its best days are behind it, and my dish was inconsistent within itself.
But, as someone very picky about Thai food, I was happy with what I got.
Service was attentive enough. I was there alone for lunch, so that's what I would have wanted.
I would go back.
It’s been 14 year since I know this place I love it its my favorite restaurant!!!😋
Great food and fast service. All the old people eat here. :)
Had a Pad Kee Mao, vegetarian style, and was absolutely blown away. Topped it off with a Mango sticky rice and that really hit the spot. 10/10 and would go again.
I wish they still had some of the items they used to have on their menu, still the go-to for Thai food though
If you like Thai Food then search no further, this spot is among the top in the city when it comes to pad see ew for sure! I will have to return to try more and I’ll be back soon.

Very yummy and creative angle on Thai food. Try the wings. And the spicey Pad dishes are hard to stop eating.

went there for lunch today, I had roti and green vegetarian curry with butternut squash, roti was a little oily, but the curry was absolutely one of the best i have had..will go back
We dined at Marnee Thai and had a mixed experience. The ambiance was delightful. Convenient parking near Golden Gate Park added to the overall accessibility.
We tried a variety of dishes, and while the Pad Kee Mao stood out with its delicious flavors, the Roti Kanai fell short. Priced at around $12, the Roti Kanai seemed overpriced for what was essentially a flour roti, and the portion size left much to be desired.
On the positive side, the Imperial Roll and Fried Rice were delightful, contributing positively to our overall dining experience. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with some hits and misses, making it a place worth exploring for its strengths.
Despite the inconsistency in dishes, the inviting ambiance and the flavorful Pad Kee Mao make Marnee Thai a contender for those seeking a Thai dining experience. However, improvements in the value proposition of certain dishes would elevate the overall satisfaction for patrons.
One of my favorite restaurants in SF. Chicken satay, angel wings and red curry are staples for me. Love the atmosphere.
The banana curry with plantain is genius!!
Heads up for vegans and vegetarians - be sure to confirm verbally that there is no fish sauce in the dish you're ordering! Otherwise delicious food and an inner sunset staple.
Best Thai in inner sunset
Solid choice with a nice back room for birthday parties.
Great little "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant which I remember coming to since I was young. Great food! I especially loved the fragrant spices and flavors. Authentic tastes. A must try.
Very good
Food: I got the Kang Dang curry, and it was labeled medium spicy, but it gave my taste buds a run for their money! You buy the rice separately, with options for white or brown, but the brown looks like wild rice. My husband got a plate with scallops, shrimp, and curry, which was also delicious.
Gluten free: At the time I went, the waitress said I can eat most anything except the chicken and duck. I understood that as any curry and From the Wok section, as well as noodle dishes. Basically, you have plenty of options!
Service: The service was a little slow, but they were constantly doing something, so that's not really on them.
Atmosphere: As soon as you walked in, the delicious aroma overwhelms and entices you! The music was a good level and the lighting was nice as well.
Great Thai food we found while visiting San Francisco.
Great taste and nice personnel!
We ordered a Pad Thai and a massaman red curry. Both had incredible good taste. They have the thai spiciness that is hard to find if you ask me. Very authentic, really recommend if you are around or if you have thai cravings.
Soooooo Disappointed. This was our Favorite Thai restaurant for years. No Longer. The last meal I had was Horrible. I was thinking of sending it back. I ordered a meal with Duck....such a treat and change....but HORRIBLE. Only Duck Fatty Uneatable Skin. 1 or 2 small pieces of duck meat. Kept spitting it out...oh my....not my idea of a good time.
My wife got a chicken dish which was just OK
To leave there with a $70 bill for a few meals and drinks + tip was something I do not plan to do again. Ever.
This restaurant is slipping away. Time for a new Thai in the city.
There are many choices...why go to an OLD SCHOOL one that is no longer very good.
Also busy, seems great...but try another restaurant in our great city.
If you notice, the reviews have slide Down Hill this year. The good reviews are from several years ago.
I feel badly about writing a negative review for Marnee Thai, but I need to be honest. The Marnee on 9th Ave. must have a different chief. The one on 24th St. and Lincoln Way was not good. My husband and I didn't even eat the food. I ordered the same thing I always order from 9th Ave Marnee and it wasn't even the same dish. Dry, tasteless and so Not Marnee.
We sworn as we left, that we would never go back.
The service was poor. The waiter didn't even ask us if we liked our food. They staff caters to TAKE OUT and the customers eating inside are cold since the required door is open and not waited on in a timely manner.
Again, I know, this is Marnee. We have lived in the City for 40 years and I am so disappointed.
I can not recommend this location.
go to thai place because i’ve tried a different dish every time and honestly have never tried something i didn’t like— which if you’re indecisive like me is a dream come true. just go with whatever your stomach is telling you because honestly all their descriptions sound good on the menu. so if you’re curious about something new but don’t know if you should stray from the dependable favorites of pad thai, tom yum, pad se ew etc. take the leap.
Don’t!!! I want a refund! Money in the trash 😡Amazing how they are still
Open for business. Oily and tasteless got the wrong order. On the phone she heard chicken satay instead of chicken pad Thai which would’ve been ok if the chicken satay wasn’t so yucky. I wish I never had that pad kee maw with duck 🚮 it was greasy and full of skin and fat. 🤢
Absolutely a terrible experience!
I was hosting my Canadian friend last night and wanted her to experience San Francisco Thai food at a restaurant that used to be good .
Environment is dingy and dated and food honestly is not all that at all . In fact mediocre to say the least .
But that’s not even the worst part .The waitress abruptly butted in about 3 times asking us what we wanted to order and wax extremely irritated when we were not ready .
I just felt like they were wanting guests to get of there as fast as possible . This is surprising since the restaurant was pretty much empty .
They kept the from door wide open and it was a very cold night .
When I asked her if the door could be closed even half way , she refused . So we sat there freezing .unfortunately we had already ordered our food otherwise we would have left and I’m sorry we didn’t .
we were barefly done with our meal at 8:30pm , when they turned on the lights to bright and basically hinting that they wanted us out .
People were in the middle of their dinner.
Horrendous experience. Will never step foot in there again !labs I suggest you either .
Also overpriced food and beverages. Not worth time or money
Pad Kee Mao was delicious, my friend was fine with her chicken satay dish. Service was fine, place was pretty cold for winter, it was overall okay.
More expensive and not as good as Sriracha Thai Cuisine 1 block away
Great beef panang!!!
The summer rolls were nice but nothing extraordinary. The Panang Beef was amazing. I usually don’t order beef for curry but I was amazed at how tender the beef was. The waiter listened to me (usually they don’t trust me when I say spicy) and the limeade and Thai iced coffee were good too.
Great customer service, great tasting food, had the #27 with duck and the seasonal hotcakes which is something I remember on my trip to Bangkok 🤘 you guys rock thanks for making my birthday amazing this year
Just so so. It is not as good as it used to be, but still very reasonable Thai food.
Our go-to Thai location. We love the peanut sauce and their curries. Our faves are the mussamun chicken curry, panang beef, and pad praram. Always solid. If you like the standard noodle dishes (e.g., pad Thai, pad see ew), you may be a bit disappointed here - we don’t tend to be impressed with them when our kids get them. They can be dry and/or mushy. But it’s worth branching out and trying some of the dishes here - so many great flavors.
May 2022 - Food was OK but our larger party waited almost 2 hours when they said the table would be ready in ~30 minutes. If we knew it would be that long of a wait, we would have opted for takeout or gone somewhere else. By the time we had been waiting over an hour, it was too late to find another place for dinner. They kept saying "it'll be soon" or "just a little longer" to all those waiting for tables, which was largely false. Because of their failure to set expectations, all those waiting understandably became impatient and tempers running high with arguments breaking out over who was here first for the next table-- very stressful, NOT a pleasant time. We were finally seated with only ~30 minutes until closing. Guests were cold and hungry. Would not recommend coming here on Fridays, weekends, or any peak hours unless you are fine waiting indefinitely and being placed in a stressful situation.
Food wasn't that good. Service wasn't good. They asked if we want dessert while serving the main course, and presented the bill without us asking for it and while we were still having our meal. I wouldn't suggest this restaurant.
Never again! This place does not deserve a star. It was crowded and loud inside, I felt like a sprout in a can. The plates on the table were dirty and had some grease on them. Worst customer service ever. The waitress was rude and did not listen to what I asked. She laughed at me because I wanted Tom Yum with beef. I wanted to order more food, but she did not wait and just ran away. Then even more customers walked inside, and she started moving my table while I was eating, in order to make enough space to sit them. The food was 2/5, compared to other places I've been to. The wine was good, but it couldn't make me any happier after bad service that I had.
Ask them to limit the salt otherwise too salty. Thai tea was sweet but once ice melted it was good. Pumpkin curry ok. Eggplant pork was good except salty. Added a bowl of rice for the sauces. Roti was ok. The pad thai was the best.
Really enjoyed, reputation well deserved.
A must try in the neighborhood - their roti is truly delicious 🤤
Great spot, great service, clean and fun to be in. Had the wings and would come back in a few hours when I’m hungry again.
Maybe I was stuck in the past, but when I went here after almost 10 years, I was expecting time to stand still. It didn’t. The minute you walk in, it’s cold. The atmosphere or ambiance is cold/sterile. It was like eating in a prison cell. Rushing to our table was a woman ( not a young person but an older person…maybe the new owner?) who did that all through our meal…rushing us through. She was not friendly and was not accommodating. I eventually told a younger staff member for her to back off. The food & menu? Definitely not the same. Would I go back. No. Would I recommend? No. These people should go back to Marnee’s original roots.
I have to say, competition among restaurants is the best thing for customers.

Wok food portions were not big. Recommended to order side rice with it.
Eenvoudige restaurant.
Lunch: overheerlijk!
Mediocre at best. Not a good value. Lacks flavors.
Delicious
Great service and food was phenomenal
Every time, it's a winner.
Angel wings!!! Cool small spot, enjoyed this place with the homie Alejan.
A loyal customer here! Trust me! You will never be disappointed for sure.
I don't accept it to be a Thai food.
Visited here for a family lunch during our visit to Golden gate Park. Located very close to SF botanical garden. Even though restaurant was busy, we were able to get table quickly. We ordered Chicken Satay with lettuce wrap, Green Curry, Roti Parata, Basil Chicken, Pad Ke Mao and Tofu Red curry. All items were very tasty, specially liked the Satay with Lettuce Wrap, this was something different from other Thai restaurants. Service was pretty good too. Restrooms were well maintained. Check it out if you are in the area!
Very authentic Thai food!! Great Tom Yum.
This place is cozy and romantic. This is the restaurant where I went on my first date with my husband. I have tried real Thai dish here for the first time. Pad Thai was especially amazing but others were all yummy. Everything melted in my mouth. The waiters were really helpful. The price was a bit expensive for us as university students, but considering the taste, I would say it is reasonable. You may need to wait during busy times but worth to wait.
This is my daughter's favorite Thai restaurant in Sacramento, crowded when we got there, but luckily on wait. Food amounts were generous to fill us up.
Craving for thai?? I recommend Marnees!!! I've been to a few places in the city but I think Marnee's takes the cake. Their portions are humungous and such great value for such
Superb Thai cuisine,
All dishes are out of thus world, I live in Fremont, so so worth the drive,
My absolute favorite dish was the pad thai - classic dish done so perfectly...
Super friendly service and cute ambiance inside!

Great food
Has a good selection of Thai dishes outside the standard set of pad Thai and curries. They're also very nice. Also has a broad collection of alcohols including wine and sake. Honestly, it's catering a bit to wealthier San Franciscan who want to experience exotic cultures but who still, honestly, cannot handle their spice. If you want a nice night out and to try something new but still have a glass of wine, then it's great and you'll love it.
If you're really looking for those rich complex Thai flavors that knock you away, then it's not really here. Maybe if you look Thai, but I look white and they asked me if I can handle spicy food after I ordered. Not once, anywhere, ever, has anyone ever made me spicy food with all the traditional nuance and complexity after asking me if I could handle spicy food. So while I'm glad there's a restaurant offering these dishes that can't be found anywhere else in the bay, I cant recommend the flavors for the prices.
Nice Thai place with a good selection of food and drinks. Great service as well. It’s small so can get busy quickly. We ordered Pad Thai, their vegetarian special and sticky rice with mango pudding. Loved the food - the Pad Thai could’ve benefited from some more tofu. The wine didn’t taste great but that could just be down to selection or my taste.
Best thai food in town
Food was good not great for the price. The spicy pork was spicy but did not go with the lettuce. Had the spicy green curry which was not spicy at all.
Horrible service and worst off the food is also not tasty when compared to other Thai restaurants. I tried this place for the first time and the ladies who work there are not only rude they always act as if they don’t understand questions that are being asked concerning the menu items. When I finally got my food which by the way took almost 25 minutes it was cold and very salty. Never eating there again. If you really want good Thai food I would travel to Alameda and try Toomies, best I have tried so far and worth the drive. Marnee Thai is the worst I’ve had so far.
Very authentic Thai restaurant. Pad thai is delicious!
Ehhh! Split a bunch of things among four people. It was okay, not stand out in any way.
My family and I had the pleasure of eating at Marnee Thai a couple of weeks back. I really enjoyed the golden triangles appetizer and the banana curry with duck. We were craving Thai food while visiting SF and were glad we found this place.
Quick service. Big portions and delicious food.
Wonderful food though apparently very restricted if you need to be Gluten Free and Dairy Free like me. I'm not sure waiter understood my request but was told only the Pad Thai and the Thai Fried rice were safe. I went with the Thai fried rice with pineapple and prawns. Generous portions - I had l leftovers to take home. Delicious! It is a small restaurant and I was amazed we were able to get a table for 12 of us on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I got some bubble tea from a few doors down and the staff seemed fine with bringing in outside drinks.
MmmmmM excellent food, fast service!
Classic SF all-star
I definitely wish I had read more reviews of this place first. The good: service is good.
Penang beef: best dish we ordered. Good flavor and good portion, beef is slightly soft but I really liked the sauce.
Maseeman curry: definitely lacking in flavor. I used to love this dish and now it seems the recipe changed. Chicken lacks flavor.
Chicken satay: lacks flavor, slightly dry and crispy. Otherwise good peanut sauce.
Good food
Excellent food!
We ordered lunch of Spring Rolls, coconut stir fried rice noodles, and Ma Kuer. All the dishes were really tasty. The staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
Had the Prawn Kang dang curry(red curry). Quantity was good for the price. The peanut sauce was very delicious.
Delicious food & very courteous efficient service
Sorry, I didn’t take more pictures. I forgot 😅, but I ordered their “specials” of the day, the summer rolls and steamed wild sea bass. I looked through their old photos and I think the specials don’t change because both items I ordered were on each of the previous specials. A shame because I order them because I thought they were maybe seasonal dishes. The tom yum soup was very delicious though. I highly recommend it with the shrimp. It’s a pleasant sour and lingers on your tongue making you want more and more. The summer rolls were good and the steamed sea bass was alright. I think the ginger and black bean sauce was a bit too overpowering and it didn’t pair well with the sautéed bai choy underneath. And the last thing I ordered was the Mango Sticky Rice. I enjoyed it. I would prefer it be top with sesame seeds or peanuts rather than the seeds they put on it because it was a bit too hard for me and I was thinking to myself am I eating a piece of uncooked rice XD. Overall, a pretty good place. I recommend coming and I definitely will come back when I visit SF and the Golden Gate Park again.
Order coconut hotcakes
Loved every bite!!
Everything they make is good and ok price
Our favorite dish was the Green Curry. It had chicken, basil, eggplant with a little heat.
Do not order from this place! I had been a repeat customer here ordering the pad thai with peanut sauce on a routine basis. However my most recent order did not include the usually large side of peanut sauce that I always order as the side. When I asked the restaurant for my peanut sauce they instructed me to just request a refund through postmates. I then had to eat my food with no sauce. I even offered to go to the restaurant and pick up my missing peanut sauce that I had paid for and they would not give me the peanut sauce. They said that they checked with the bagger and I should have received the peanut sauce but I did not. This experience has been some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I will not be going back here ever again. No peanut sauce = No orders from me.
Smelled Thai food on the way home the other night and had to order this place. Got the Kang Dang (red curry) medium heat with tofu. The order was pretty quick and ready for pick up in like 30 mins. The curry also came with rice. The curry itself was pretty good and spicy but the contents was just bamboo shoots and tofu. I’ll be back because it’s close but just wish there was more in it for the price.
The fried rice was on point! The pad thai was pretty dry though...
We got the pad thai and pot stickers. The sauce that came with the potstickers was super delicious yet very greasy. It was our first time there. Totally worth a stop. Very helpful.
Authentic Thai cuisine
Just order for the first time and the food is amazing! Very tasty! I recommend the place!
I love this place! Great thai food, fast service, and reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back!
Matinee is pretty good to eat-in, but always feels a bit dank and dark for my preference. They really excel in take-out.
For some reason, all of their food arrives slightly happier than everywhere else’s. Their Pad Thai is great, and they keep everything pretty balanced between being bready, greasy and fried and light, crunchy and crisp. At least, in terms of take-out.
It’s not cheap, but they do a good job.
Best Basil chicken.
Our favorite Thai place in the area. Consistently great food and service
This is one of our usual spots. The menu has an amazing selection of authentic Thai food and good selection of vegetarian dishes. This place is usually pretty busy but turns their tables fast.
Friend got food poisoning, won’t be returning. Too bad, I like the back area ambience
amazing!!
