Neighborhood authentic Thai spot that serves lunch, dinner, home kitchen American breakfast, and Thai breakfast
Dipped into Khob Khun Thai, on recommendation of a coworker, for lunch on a Thursday, and it was good.
The place was empty except for another couple sitting down, so the food came out quick, but was so perfectly timed and plated. It came out hot and delicious.
Well priced, hot, delicious, well presented, and I would definitely go back. Thank you guys for the meal. 🌸🙏🏽
When I walked into Khob Khun Thai, I felt like I was stepping into a different world—warm, welcoming, with a lot of energy in the air. You could say it had that classic Thai charm, but with a bit of a kick, like a well-timed roundhouse!
First up, the Pad See Ew—let me tell you, this dish was like a perfectly choreographed fight scene. The noodles were smooth, but they had some serious flavor moves. Sweet, savory, all perfectly balanced, just like in a good action sequence. Every bite was a punch of deliciousness!
And those meatballs? Wow! Tender, flavorful, and packing a punch of their own. It’s like they were training with the best! You can taste the skill that went into making them—definitely not your average meatballs.
Now, the service was good, friendly, but just like in martial arts, timing is everything. There were a few moments where I was ready to strike, but had to hold back and wait a bit longer than I expected. But hey, when the food’s this good, a little patience is worth it!
The portions? Big enough to fuel any adventure, and the prices were just right—no need to break the bank to enjoy a good meal here.
Overall, Khob Khun Thai really knows how to bring the heat! It’s a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for flavors that’ll kick your tastebuds into high gear. I’ll definitely be back for more!
Came at 10am and it was not too busy. When we left at 12, there were only a couple tables left. The black coffee was standard but refillable. The pandan waffle was great. The fried chicken was fried well but I was not a fan of the sticky rice. The Thai omelet was a bit soggier than I hoped but the flavor was good. I would get the mushroom rice porridge again.
Recently visited this Thai restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. The Khao Soi was outstanding, offering a deliciously rich flavor, and the Cream Cheese Crab Rangoons were simply irresistible. What made the meal even more enjoyable was the excellent service; the staff was welcoming and attentive. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend for anyone looking for great Thai food in a relaxed but professional atmosphere
$20 for an average plate of Thai food and they don’t even give you chilli powder or sauce. Gotta pay even more for that.
Not terrible, but barely mediocre bland flavors
Top 3-5 Thai places in SF and Las Vegas lol. 2 cities where I eat lots of Thai. Stellar Panang curry, Multi-faceted Pineapple Fried Rice. Warm service. Priced a few dollars more than others ($4 to add side of rice to curry FYI), but the quality supercedes this detail. Anytime you're on Geary on the West side of SF, this place should be high on your list!
The Tom Yum fried rice is delicious!!! Highly recommend getting it.
Authentic thai cuisine tucked away in the Inner Richmond.
One of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to come back
Had khao soi and duck noodle soup and it was DELISH! Plus the people are so kind and obviously care. Amazing time
Delicious Thai restaurant.
Probably my favorite Thai place in the city. Everything I’ve had there is so delicious and everyone working there is incredibly kind
My go-to Thai place in San Francisco. The food is always of fantastic quality and the staff are attentive and friendly. They pay attention to the little things, and refill water glasses quickly. The yellow curry and pad see ew are two of my favorites!
My best thai food authentic and good service worth coming back.-- and good word of mouth is the best to do business so keep up making ur customer service happy. Please dont downgrade :))))
Not good. The reviews are so inflated. Tried pad see ew and pad kee mao, both completely lacked any flavor. Bland, dry, and noodles overcooked into mush.

The staff was very friendly and the food was really good! The decor inside the restaurant was very nice as well. You could tell a lot of effort went into it. They had a really nice Christmas display in the front and little Christmas trees on all the tables.
Pad thai was a bit salty. Porkchop was ok
Decent Thai place
Fantastic and authentic Thai food. Nearly empty on a Tuesday but the service was fast and lovely. Tom kha, pad see yu and grilled chicken were all fantastic. I’ll be back!
Very good Thai Cuisine. "Thank You"
Delightful Thai spot
I dont know what Khob Khun means, but should mean Good Food! We had lunch on recent visit to San Fran, delicious, we were five and all agreed the food was delicious. I had the Cashew Nuts Chicken, mixed it with rice and a little Pad Thai....mm mm good. Prices were in the $25 p/p range (no drinks), and service was more than adequate. Highly recommend it!
Crab fried rice was exquisite!!
Yellow Thai curry was superb!!

Food was full of flavor! My Thai wife and I both enjoyed our meal very much and would come again next time we're in SF. Not a fancy place, just good food and good service.
Wow best red curry I've ever had!! Also very clean restaurant. We appreciate the cleanliness! Very reasonably priced
The quality of the food was reasonable, but felt it was little bit higher priced for the quantity served.
Love this place! The service was great and the food was fireee. Highly recommend the Thai Omelette and the Thai Tea French Toast. The Thai Omelette was served on top of a bed of white rice and topped with a spicy sriracha sauce; the perfect homey meal, me thinks! If you are in the area I definitely recommend you stop by!!
The food is ok, but all the staff here are always in a rush to give me the check. I eat here 3-4 times and every time I experienced the same thing that made me almost choke. All the waitresses there have the same pushy style of handing me the check even before I finish chewing the food or my drinks. The funny thing is they even did that when there were only 2-3 customers in the restaurant.
From top to bottom..the foodie will love to lick their fingers..
Yummy
Really excellent Thai spot. Tofu and Vegetable Fried Rice was really good, and they were generally very accommodating for vegetarian alterations to existing menu items.
Food was excellent.
Service was great and I liked their background music. Staff is friendly and welcoming
Quaint and cute restaurant. Super friendly staff and the food was amazing!!! Spring rolls yellow curry, vegetables, and Penang curry were delicious! We will come again. Visiting from Sacramento.
I will never visit them again!! Staff are mean
Adorable breakfast brunch spot, delicious savory and sweet dishes. I always want to lick the plate after I'm done its so good. Tried the ube pancakes on the weekend special menu and the fluffy buttery texture was perfect. Had the Thai omelet over rice with pork and it was so savory and yummy I didn't know eggs could taste so good
I went there for dinner and had the Tom Yum noodle soup and papaya salad, the food quality was good but not great. The soup tasted sweet, very sweet, and salad was ok. The server was attentive and great.
Lots of paid metered parking on Geary, and the place is open late afternoon on weekends.
Service is super friendly and the ambience is minimalist. The server suggested that for vegetarians in our party there were limited options. Only 1 of the curries (yellow curry) was truly vegetarian without shrimp paste.
The sticky rice is on the starchy, super sticky side, and needs the curry to soften it up. Brown rice is cooked perfectly.
We ordered a tom kha soup with Coconut milk soup with lemongrass, galangal, onion and mushroom. It was the perfect blend of Thai flavors with just a little sweetness and it was packing in heat.
For the mains, Sweet Basil with Stir Fried chili, garlic, bell pepper, onion and sweet basil was a huge hit.
We ordered both the sweet basil and the yellow curry with lots of veggies and tofu.
This place is solid. Value for money. Fast friendly service. And while not the very best Thai of your life, it’s good enough to satisfy your cravings.

Service is great!! Workers are so nice and the food is delicious. i’m
Amazing food with fast and friendly service. We ordered red curry, khao soi gai, and a sticky rice. Both were delicious, and it was plenty of food for 2 people.
Ordered the basil eggplant vegan style. Was super watery and a bit on the salty side. I don't like the fact that everything is alacart these days
You already pay $17 plus tip and still get no rice? It cost them like nothing. Rather loose customers because nobody wants to pay $$25 for a thai dish with just veggies
Wonderful customer service
My favorite spot in SF for Thai food
Very bland and all dishes tasted the same!
收了20%小費 但對我們説小費不包含, 比我們發現
They sat and served 9 of us, no notice, no problem, and comped us a dessert.
Absolutely amazing food (even the soups, which are usually not great in other Thai restaurants). We had a party of 4, including a toddler, and everybody enjoyed their meal! Would recommend their salads and noodle preparations. For kids, they have non-breakable plates, glasses, and cutlery.
Authentic stuff, good service. Worth visiting on your special occasions with friends.
Very cute restaurant and super kind staff. The food was very good but a little pricy for the portion ($12 for just 5 coconut shrimp)
Popped in this morning and got to try a few Thai breakfast favorites. The service was friendly and fast and the place is so cute. We loved our food and only wished we were in town longer so we could try more dishes! The sticky rice was a fast fav. A fantastic neighborhood Thai establishment!
The tom kha & tom yum was one of the best in the bay area. Will have to come back and try the rest of the menu
They know how to take good photos, you have to give them that.
The Pad Thai was ok, the Green Curry rather underwhelming and quite soupy, the rice was a lump of rice mash.
Difficult to have a conversation with the rave music blurring through the place.
Favorite Thai in all of the city!! Always delicious, fresh, and just has that little bit extra that really differentiates it from your standard Thai spot. Love it every time we come!
I cannot recommend this place enough.
Loved the food here. Might just be my new favorite Thai place in San Francisco. Lots of vegetarian options.
Really good food at a reasonable price. Fair amount of parking available in the area. Atmosphere is okay, but nothing special. Service was great and without any issues.
Overall I would recommend this restaurant.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in SF - charming atmosphere, great service, delicious flavors, generous portions - we've been coming once a week since we found it.
Great food. Great service. American-Thai. Loved our meal.
Pretty good flavorful Thai food. Cute unassuming restaurant. I really liked the crab fried rice.
I've been here a couple of times and the food has always been great ! Loved their fried chicken fried rice . I was also blown away by their mango sticky rice - the mango was oh so good !
My fiancée and me found this place and their food is absolutely amazing.
Great little neighborhood restaurant with fantastic service and lots of delicious drinks and dishes. I came here the morning they opened a few years ago and go every time I’m in town! I love going for breakfast and getting Thai dishes along with a Benedict. Great place to bring friends for a chat!
Think that youth had Pad Thai too many times before already? Not after trying it here! Best we've ever had. We also got the green curry and the Tom kha gai soup. All incredible! Modest but very clean and homey interior. Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Great food!! Everything we tried was super yummy. Definitely would recommend!
Unassuming interior, quick service, great food!
Don’t try to be fancy order the Pad Thai 😍 you won’t regret it. Usually I get bored after half the pad Thai but the flavors were so good. Can’t wait to come back to try their tom yum soup and pad kee mao. So far my fav Thai place in the city. It’s a really cute interior too!
Absolutely delicious & super authentic- even impressed my Thai, foodie friend whom I ate with. “ Best Thai food in SF” in his estimation. Duck curry!
The pad Thai was on the sweet side. And I wish the noodles were stir fried harder. The service was great. She was so kind, soft spoken, and on top of making sure I was taken care of! Will be back to try more of the menu
Vegetarian friendly. Decent service. Not expensive. Fresh spring roll was delicious, chicken satay was flavorless, fried rice was great.
Everything on the menu is excellent. The presentation and flavors are both superb
By far the best Thai place I’ve ever eaten at. Everything is so nicely seasoned and has beautiful presentation. I especially love that they have breakfast options in the morning; their congee is delicious and filling and certainly warms the soul. I also really like their pad see ew and butterfly pea tea lemonade. Whenever friends and family visit I always try to take them here. I highly recommend.
I tried this afternoon, maybe the chief was missing today. This was memorably bad.…Too much of fish sauce and leftover veggies in the soggy noodle, how could they have such a excellent reviews, questionable…
The Tom Yum soup is off the chain! It’s so flavorful and delicious. The best I’ve had so far.
Perfect for a rainy or cold cloudy day. It definitely hits the spot.
Wow!
Tried the Green Curry and I was disappointed, as it lacked flavor and quality of ingredients compared to others in SF.
Delicious pad thai and tom yum noodle soup!
By far my favorite Thai place in this area. Love everything they make 😊 highly recommended!!
Nice cozy spot with delicious food - I really liked the Pad See Ew
The food was tasty, and it's a relaxing and warm atmosphere. Breakfast looks good too, although we didn't try it!
We were in the area and decided to try it for lunch. So glad we did. It was delicious. Ordered the Hat Yai Chicken and the Kao Soi Gai. It's been a while since we've had both dishes so it was great to find them here. They were both delicious. The Kao Soi was very flavorful. The Hat Yai chicken was well fried and crispy.
My favorite Thai in the city! Love their curries and Crab Noodles :))))
Don't tell anyone how good this place is. Crab fried rice, beef salad, fresh roll...yum.
Got a scramble here for breakfast. It was alright, but there were very few eggs, the eggs were too runny, and the mushrooms weren't cut up into small enough slices. They also had no jam to go with the toast. I probably should have stuck to ordering Thai food at a Thai restaurant.
Have only ordered (twice) from this place and have tried only a few items so far. We ordered again because we found the food flavorful and tastes authentic Thai enough. Take this from us who lived in the heaet of Bangkok for 6 months. Staff (perhaps also the ownets) wete very friendly. It is definitelyworth checking out.
Food makes up for any ambiance distractions. Delish!
Excellent Thai food, delivery or dine-in. Quiet spot for in-person dining (indoor only). Friendly service and good-sized plates for the price.
Decent food, bad service.. We got penang curry, red curry, Tom kha soup... Soup was sub par, the curries were very good. The one lady who is basically a one man show taking orders and serving is kinda rude..
Reasonable parking available around the area
Pad Thai and Cashew Nut chicken were delicious! Coconut fried shrimp was not worth the price. It just lacks flavor. But overall tasty dishes!
Worst Thai food I've had, friendly service, live Thai food, thoroughly disappointed.
Love going here for brunch!! They have great food and staff! If you are into something sweet try there nutella french toast.
Very tasty food. I often get the Tom Yum soup. We've tried a lot of the curries. The Po Tak soup is a great choice. Very nice pieces of seafood in there! The roast duck curry was not as tender as I would like, but it was still good. Other curries and soups are good too.
What a hidden gem! I ducking LOVED the Duck Noodle Soup here! They were out of the Beef Noodle Soup but she said their Tom Yum Noodle Soup is their special. I just had that recently so went with the Duck Noodle Soup and it was fantastic!
The duck broth had such rich, deep flavors and the duck was tender and not over cooked. I ordered extra rice noodles so I can finish all the broth and meat and they gave me some for just ONE DOLLA! The extra noodles I got were more al dente which was nice.
As soon as I walked in, the low budget chairs and tables plus oddly arranged working area tipped me off that it was either going to be incredibly awesome or really bad. Fortunately, this place turned out to be absolutely amazing. I think they topped my favorite local places, which are excellent.
First, service was superb. ‘Fern’ greeted kindly, offered suggestions and patiently described some differences in how they make the Tom Yum more traditionally. She sold me on it, and it blew me away. I’m almost always a Tom Kha kinda person, but I would come here every day for this style, it’s not just clear broth but it has milk (and probably other secret ingredients) added to have a delicious circus of flavor. She asked how hot and I said ‘Thai medium.’
I felt like noodles and although Pad Thai isn’t usually my favorite in the States, I felt like trying it. To my amazement, Fern asked me about how sweet and how spicy I prefer- these questions are never asked with Pad Thai- usually it’s just served here bland and without much depth of flavor. I was excited to see if I got something other than the few 1-star reviews reported.
Soup came first. Oh my god, this Tom Yum was so perfect to my taste and loaded with all sorts of colors and mouth feel, I couldn’t believe it was so good. I kept taking spoonfuls to see if I was just imagining but it kept blowing me away with awesomeness. Just the right amount of heat, chicken, broth balance, tomatoes. I’m always playing with adding spices to my food but the whole bowl went down without any extra culinary encouragement.
Next, Fern brought a huge plate of Pad Thai. And wow, what struck me next after the size and beauty of the portion was just how colorful and extravagant the presentation was. Most mediocre Thai places serve 2/3 of this amount for a few bucks less, and seem nothing much more than glorified fettuccine noodles with some tamarind. What Khob Khun brought to my table was nothing less than a loving work of art, probably better than any Pad Thai I’ve eaten in Thailand (and I’ve had a bit of testing there). There was even a beautiful flower on top, of a simple noodle dish. And once I started into it there was no looking back, this was not going to need a doggy bag. Fantastic, fantastic cooking.
So thankfully I didn’t get anything close to a 1-star experience here, all 5’s from this first trip. Definitely many return visits to come.
I love Thai people and really dig it whenever I visit a genuinely “family run” restaurant (of any nationality) that seemingly forgot how to cut corners and ‘Americanize’ their cuisine. I understand they offer an American breakfast here, doesn’t really entice me because I could eat Thai food forever, but if it’s anything close to the quality of what I had tonight then I’d be open. Fern was so kind and intelligent, and attuned to preparing the food perfectly to my preferences, really touched my heart. They deserve the current 4.8 stars as far as I’m concerned, and I hope they continue to keep the quality and service at or above this level (if that’s even possible!). 5+ stars!
Amazing! Get the Tom kha
Very spicy, medium is probably good for most people
Sehr sehr leckeres Esse. Nettes Ambiente und sehr nette Bedienung.
Super good food and great service!
I've lived in SF for 9 years and this is hands down the best Thai I ever had.
Chicken Satay are perfect. Beef bomb is amazing. Basil beef was just right (beef slightly overcooked to my taste).
Mango sticky rice was 10/10.
Highly recommend this place!
So good
Great food experience, loved the green papaya salad.
Also their sweet floral decorations felt light & summery with far away atmosphere.
Clean and neat, masked staff & Felt safe.
Every dish we tried was delicious and the staff was so friendly and attentive! Highly recommended spot for reasonably priced, delicious Thai food.
Really cool to be able to try Thai breakfast foods
I have had dinner here a few times and breakfast delivery and enjoyed the service, the vibe, and the food. Last time I had pad see ew and it was very good. They're always on my life since they're reliable and always provide good quality food and service.
There are a lot of Thai places in this neighbourhood but this one is the best one. Solid!
Loved the vegetarian Pad See Ew with tofu and vegetables (great fresh vegetables too including asparagus and green beans that still had a bit of snap too them!) and the tasty treat of a Thai iced tea. Such friendly staff and the restaurant was extremely clean and bright.
Was just passing through the neighbourhood and saw the great reviews so decided to try it. So happy we did! It was delicious. And reasonably priced. Loved the crispy basil Thai breakfast and the Tom Kha soup. Would definitely come back here!
The food here was so good! We ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp. Must try!
1st time here. We tried 2 of the sizzling platters (1 with mixed seafood and one with salmon and broccoli). Both were amazing! Unique, fresh Thai flavors! Was tempted to lick the plate!! Also tried the coconut shrimp appetizer. Also amazing! Clean little spot, nice staff! We'll be returning when we're in the area!
Delicious Thai style brunch menu that will blow your socks off. I may never go back to regular American brunch.
We got the Thai congee, Thai omelette, side of hash browns, and Nutella and banana stuffed French toast.
The Thai congee was flavorful, with crisp fresh fried dough and chicken meatballs. The Thai omelette was our close favorite cause it was so savory. The hash brown was cooked perfectly with a crispy shell.
The winner was the French toast. Every part of it was decadent. You must get it.
Staff was friendly and attentive. Seems to be a family run business. Definitely worth the trek from Pac Heights!
We liked the food there!
Wonderfully fresh and tasty Thai flavors. We're pescatarian and had plenty of options on this menu in addition to the vegetarian options! We had the coconut shrimp appetizer, and 2 of their sizzling platter dishes, (salmon with broccoli and a seafood combo). All the dishes were amazing! We'll be back!
Loved it loved it loved it. Bite after bite, and I simply cannot stop. I know I’ll be coming back often and I can’t wait to try more!
The food itself is not all perfect, for example the noodle is a little bit too salty and the croissant actually tastes like Walmart’s (the pandan sauce is very good, I meant the croissant itself)… but with this big portion and budget price and good service and fast speed, what can you complain?
