Thai staples highlighting seafood & vegetables offered in a relaxed, warm setting with a patio.
My sister took me to her favorite “Thai” restaurant. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed and now remains one of my favorite Thai restaurants in San Diego now.
I will tell you the flavors and food are simply authentic. Service is also really friendly, fast and the food is decently priced. It’s a bit small, and hard to find parking, but I think it’s worth the wait. We came with my father who is wheelchair bound and we were pleased there was a dedicated Ada seating and enough room for his scooter to fit in.
I definitely recommend this place for your Thai food fix.
*note* Thai spiciness can be very spicy. So I always recommend a 2, so you can have a bit of a kick.
This might actually be the best Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand. I had this spicy basil with vegan duck, which was absolutely freaking amazing. I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time. The restaurant was clean. There was lots of seating. parking wasn’t too hard. The staff was very attentive and polite. They had a restroom. Everything was well stocked. The menu was simple and easy to understand with lots of variety and everything was an amazing value. I really enjoyed my experience here. The ambience was really great and I cannot wait to go back!
Wow! The employees at this place are amazing! Pam went above and beyond to help us with our food orders and even customized our meal with a huge smile. It felt like we were being treated like family! The food is delicious, the place is great, and the employees are exceptional. Thank you, Pam, for the fantastic service! A huge shout out to her! 👍👍👍
Food was good but beware of the level of spiciness. I ordered the Pad Cha with steamed salmon with already a level 3 spiciness (out of 10) but still very spicy for my pallette (and I'm used to spicy. Lol) One of the servers saw that I'm struggling and offered to re-cook my food with regular sauce. So that was good. They take care of their customers.
My husband was smart enough to order Three Flavors fish with spicy sauce on the side so he could control the spiciness.
We also ordered the Tom Kah soup, and we finished the entire large bowl! This is Thai soup with coconut milk. My husband is not a coconut milk person, but this one he could eat. 😁
The Mango sticky rice, together with coconut ice cream desserts, was really, really good as well.
Overall, it was a great experience.
Just one observation, though, their calculation of tips are based on the total amount not based on pre-tax.
We used their calculation because we had a good experience on the food and service. But normally, I calculate the percentage based on pre-tax.
Incredible start to finish. Beautiful space. Every dish, appetizer to dessert, was delicious. The service was impeccable. We were seated in an awkward corner and the waitresses navigated the tricky plates with aplomb. We will be back. Fire warning: they do spice on a 1-10 level, and 5 was VERY spicy. Terrific if you’re a spicehead, but if you’re not looking out. 🥵 🔥 🌶️
UPDATE! We love coming here they know that we have been coming here for years ordering the same dish sitting at the same table. UPDATE Visited today and as usual (99% of the time) the food was delicious! This time I must say I felt that we were being rushed. We usually have at least 5 minutes to digest our appetizers, but this time our whole fish came out before we were even finished. Then the waitress kept coming to the table at least five times "are you finished" ? I'm like if she comes over here one more time... and here she was! This is not the first time I've felt rushed but this was the most egregious. There is also a gentleman that always treats us indifferent. He has NEVER been cordial or welcoming and seems like he resents serving us.when he does. Even take out!!!! I honestly feel as though he instructed her to hurry us out of there. I feel as though they are ashamed to have us here. Seeing that we are people of cokor. Sadly to say after today I don't think we will be dining here again... I do love their food thought so for maybe an occasional take out of Tom Ka soup that will be it.
A small place. Great for lunch
A wonderful place for aspiring vegans. You can get duck made from tofu that is delicious! The spring rolls are amazing and of course they have sticky rice and mango. Draft Singha to complete an awesome Thai experience.

Great service. Food like I remember from Thailand. I've only been once but will certainly go back.
Excellent Thai options, reasonably priced with friendly service.
The food comes out quickly and is made well. My only note is that things are pretty spicy so be careful which spice level you order. It was delicious!
I got the panag curry level 5, it was amazing.

Sweetest staff and delicious food.
Sorry, can't recommend this place. The food was soooo over salted and the crispy chicken wasn't crispy yet it looked like it was over cooked.
The waitress was nice. The atmosphere was pretty cluttered.
Great Thai spot!

Service was amazing and the food was even better. I will definitely return here and highly recommend it.

Wonderful food, exceptional service. The sticky rice ice cream dessert is worth flying across the country for. I will be back even though I live in Orlando. Yum!!!!
Like others have said, be careful with the spineless level. 3 was more than I hoped for. :-)

2020Excellent legit Thai food. We got the steamed fish green curry, two Thai teas, pad thai with shrimp, and mock duck larb. Great spice 4- 5 is either good enough spice or too much spice if you're sensitive. Following good covid regulations
2024 ordered the BBQ Port set - it was so good we ordered one to go
Love this place. The food is incredible, the the service is fast. And if you dine there, it's a nice calm vibe. I love eating here

The pad sed iw was amazing. Also had the lettuce wrap which was delicious!! Great customer service. Becky was so friendly and helpful.
Just picked from Yelp. Was not disappointed! Great food! Great service! Great vibe!
Really good Thai food. Beware their scale really is "Thai spicy" so a 6 anywhere is else is more like a 3-4 here. The beef panang dish is amazingly tender.
The food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the tom kah and tom yum soups and Thai basil fried rice. The staff were very attentive. We are so happy we found you!!!!
Food, environment and service were truly excellent. Pure, complex flavors. Elegant, simple presentations. Yummy and healthy all around!
Service was great, food was fast and really yummy. Great spot for lunch or dinner. Would definitely recommend!
Very fresh and not greasy. Love it. I've been there for dine in and take out.
Excellent food using fresh ingredients
Cute spot with great food. Not too many tables but have inside and outside. Street parking around the area for free.
Excellent food. Very friendly and warm staff. Relaxing and comfortable space. I highly recommend this restaurant. We had the Spicy Noodle and Lo Mein dishes.
We order mostly delivery from this restaurant, and every time is exceptional. The food is so fresh and delicious, and always packaged nicely. We order larb, curry, tom kha, and tamarind chicken often, and each dish is very flavorful! We can't wait to dine-in!
I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were greeted as soon as we entered. The server even let us know when she was going on break and pointed out who would be taking care of us until she returned.
The food was amazing. The yellow curry? Excellent! The beef panang curry? Excellent! If you like well made food, you will not be disappointed.
Always fresh flavors and quality ingredients with excellent service!
We got red curry with chicken, Tom kha soup, jasmine tea and 2 appetizers.
soup and jasmine tea were both great. Appetizers and red curry were good too. It can be difficult to get a table here during rush hour.
The ginger vegetables were so good. Cooked perfectly to a nice tender crisp level. The curry has great flavor and not too spicy. We went twice during our visit to the area. Perfect choice if you need to be gluten free as the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.
Update, food is still just as awesome. We keep coming back each year.
Great food, everything was delicious.
It could be 5 ⭐️but we didn't see any notification for 18% service charge until we got the bill, 4 adults, and a 2 year old, I understand for big parties (6+)you should charge a service fee.
This place is soooo good. Best Thai food I’ve had in San Diego, our go to takeout spot. We have our regular order but even when we try different things it never misses! Get the Tom Kha
The food was just okay. I've had much better thai food.
Nice local spot for University Heights. Food is good and the atmosphere is serene.
My favorite local Thai place :)
I had a wonderful experience eating dinner here. I got lucky with the parking spot so came in for the first time. Staff was prompt and kind. I came for yellow curry and it was super tasty. I would have this again. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere here as well. The restaurant played jazz music and overall gave a warm and inviting atmosphere. I had the rose pedal tea and it was great. It was a cold rainy night and coming here was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!!!
We love eating here. The staff is so friendly, and the food is really good and made with love. The setting is clean and cozy, with nice big windows and comfortable seating. We love it here and we visit a lot, every chance we get!
Can't say enough good things about this place. From the food to the service to the ambience, it's all 10/10. Can't get enough of it!
The papaya salad was fresh and tasty. The yellow curry didn’t taste like some Thai restaurants which is out of a paste. It had much more flavor and richness to it. You could also taste the hint of coconut in the base. I would highly recommend this place and go back again. The prices were very reasonable.
Seriously. Can’t even get utilities or napkins.
The place and service here were good . The food was great, too. We ordered chicken lettuce wraps, vegetable spring rolls, fried chicken, spicy noodles, and Basil fried rice with chicken. Everything was good except the fried rice. There was no flavor and spice in it.
HANDS DOWN ALWAYS DELICIOUS AND DELICIOUS AND DELICIOUS!!
Dining in and pick have always been spot on, pad see ew with pork is some of the best around. Dining in with our 2yr Daughter the staff is very friendly and helpful. Very solid Thai spot, makes me wanna go back to Thailand!
Recently dined in food was great! Service was good until they got busy and a different server kept pushing the bill down our throats. I’m sorry but don’t rush my family because you are overwhelmed, I understand in Thailand and most of Asia this is normal but for what we pay here to eat out I’ll take my time especially when we’re trying to finish dinner.
This thai restaurant is amazing! The food was all fantastic, the service excellent and it is so cute! Nice, small atmosphere and it was easy to park.
In terms of flavor and quality, this is the top Thai place that I've found in San Diego. Everything on the "Chef's specials" section of the menu seems to, genuinely, be something special (edit: except the orange chicken).
The service is perfectly adequate. Their decor is maybe a little bit nicer than the average Thai hole-in-the-wall but it's outstripped by the quality of the food. I think their main issue is that they don't have enough space in the restaurant to lay things out nicely.
I think they should try to upgrade to being a more upscale place, based on the quality of their food.
My favorite panang curry in San Diego! and get the vegan duck crispy, it’s fantastic!!
Good food but a little on the expensive side
Very tasty and pleasant, good and pleasant service
Very classy, small Thai restaurant with big flavor! The service was some of the best I've had regardless of cost of the food and the food was AMAZING. Must try if you have the opportunity! I'll be back.
Incredible Thai food
Really good food and super nice service.
Tried their spicy noodles, and despite the seemingly basic name, it's far from ordinary. A spice level of 4 was perfect for us, featuring a blend of various pepper flavors and, of course, the signature basil found in Thai cuisine. Highly recommended!
The food portions are just right, ensuring you don't leave feeling overly full. Plan on spending around 20 bucks per person here.
The server exudes charisma and is exceptionally nice! Combined with a pleasant atmosphere, I would definitely recommend everyone to give this place a try.
Delicious Thai food, beautiful presentation & attentive staff. If you like Thai food, I highly recommend a visit.
Nice Thai restaurant up in university heights/north park area! Delicious.food, but didn't get to choose spice level, bit it was still great! Ginger chicken and young coconut tom yum soup, plus.cold sake!!! Can't go wrong. Parking can be tricky but they are a bit off the main drag area, so it wasn't awful. The place is nice, clean, smelled great!!!
The nicest people all around, enjoyed everything.
This is the best Thai food we've found in the area. Really good flavor and at a very reasonable price.
Our first visit to Suhko Thai for takeout will not be the last. The kitchen here competes with any Thai food we have had. The lettuce wraps appetizer is so good, and generously sized I might add, that it can be a meal for one. Fabulous. I had the Yellow Curry with Chicken and the Red Berry rice. I selected a spice level 4 (of 10) and it was great. A little heat on the front of the palate but it builds slowly until I needed a short break.
The curry is simply to die for.
My spouse had the Cashew Nut saute with chicken and the Jasmine Rice. When she doesn't want to speak during a meal; it tells me she is thoroughly enjoying her dinner. The only comment she could make was “so fresh, so delicious. Don't miss this when you're considering Thai. You are lucky San Diegans when you choose Suhko.
Waited for too long for the food that doesn’t tasted well
YASSSSS! Perfect spot afterZoo. About $16 per plate. So good. Tied for best Thai I’ve ever had (w/ a place in Seattle). Quiet little neighborhood, very clean.
4.5/5
This place did not disappoint! Good thai food is something my girlfriend and I are always looking for and this place hit the spot. The vibes were great inside. It was our first time trying Miang Kham and now we can't stop talking about it. The flavors were delicious and worked so well together.
This place also does not skimp on the spice, which we like. We ordered a 6/10 and we were definitely feeling it. The spicy noodles and red curry were great and packed with tons of flavor. Definitely want to come back to try something else.
The food is wonderful and the owner is even better, she went out of her way to give our group of 4 the larger table she was seated at in the middle of her meal without hesitation. A couple of us had also noticed she had a meal that wasn't on the menu. After asking her about it, she had the staff make us some so we could all try it, it was absolutely fantastic. We didn't know she was the owner until after she left and the waitress told us, if you see this thanks again!
Tasty, hip, and unstuffy.
So good! Any dish that you try will be delicious. My go-to Thai in San Diego.
This place is an absolute gem for Thai food. This place has raised the bar for Thai food in Sandiego. We eat a lot of Thai around here and this place has a very nice vibe to it.
To be mindful when you order the spice levels. We had at 6 and 7 and spice level was pretty good at that level.
Ordered - papaya salad, pad Thai noodles, cashew with tofu, red curry and kaprow with minced chicken.
Everything was delicious, full of flavour. Perfect balance of sweetness from coconut milk and the spice. A well balanced palate.
Portion size is good for one person!
Smooth, warm and very zen ambience. We got late for our reservation by 10min but they did manage to keep our table for us
Recommend to get a reservation since it can get very busy on a weekend !
This place was really good.
Delicious food, had dessert the mango with sticky rice you have to try. Very friendly staff. Had take out previously and food was fresh and tasted good. Will come back to try more new food.
Exceptional and authentic. I did thai cooking course in Chang Mai and the taste and quality of this place is as authentic as you will get.
Awesome
But you already know this man…
Flavor town 💯
When seeking great Thai food in San Diego this place raised the bar! Their plastic chairs could have been more comfortable and water service was below average.
My only complaint is with the city. We don't live close so we had to drive here. Crossing the street from where we parked was super dangerous!! There were ZERO cross walks for miles! Why do we make our cities so unwalkable! Even if we lived within walking distance the crossing hazard remains. We would only have been safe if we shared the same city block as this establishment.
Fire Thai food and also a great date spot... atmosphere is definitely a vibe... great place will be coming back for sure
I really like the Lettuce chicken wraps and old school pad Thai, my husband likes the curry and pad see ew
Loved the fried mock duck in my pad Thai. Very friendly staff
My family and I eat a lot of Thai all around America and this was one of the best. The service for starters was tip top, greeting us so kindly and seating us right away. They were always aware if we needed anything and checked in often with more water and all other needs. The food was fresh and delicious. I will warn that they have the hottest Thai food we have ever gotten and my husband always get the most spice. We will be coming back.
Good food
This place is really good. The food is fresh and tasty. Love the BBQ pork skewers. So good! Highly recommend.
A little pricier but so worth it. Order was ready quick, still hot when I got home, and absolutely delicious. Ordered the pad see iw and the panang beef- the beef was perfectly cooked and not at all dry, with a light spice that wasn’t overpowering. Will definitely be ordering from here again!
Each and every time we come to this establishment that we have a great time with the service and with the meals that they serve.
Great food and service! Get the spring rolls 😁
Some of the best Thai food I've ever experienced on this planet. 😋
Deserves 5 stars for sure.
We don't have any Thai restaurants were we live so we made it a point to seek out some on our visit to San Diego and are glad we found this place. We made a reservation and were promptly seated even though we arrived a bit early. I really enjoyed my Pad Thai and my wife liked her chicken dish. The service was good - our waiter always seemed to appear just at the right time and even after we were finished and lingered we never felt any pressure to turn over the table
Prices are reasonable and portions are generous
I'd definitely return here if I come back to SD
The curry is SOO yummy, plus when they put chicken instead of crispy chicken in my order I went back and they gave me the crispy chicken for free!
The experience we fantastic. Excellent customer service, seated right away, convenient pay at the table POS. The shrimp curry 🍤 🍛 and Pad Thai were phenomenal. Great date night 👍👍👍
Good service and food! Definitely will come back! It's always fun asking for "Thai hot", max spice, or level 10+😆
Simple and cozy.
Great food!
People who go here are chill. Not too loud.
Parking can be challenging, especially in peak hours, but worth it.
Excellent food, ambience and service.
Food was delicious, servers kind and great atmosphere!
What a lovely experience from start to finish! We got there at 5pm on a Saturday night and got lucky with a table but it’s a good idea to make a reservation ahead of time.
The food is INCREDIBLE. Ordered the red curry and it’s the best I’ve had in San Diego - balanced, complex, and so tasty. I like my food moderately spicy and found that the 5 spice level was perfect! Also appreciated all of the little details - like the impressive porcelain teapot that the jasmine tea was served in, or how affordable the beer was ($5.50 for a Stone IPA!). Bonus: the food came out within 3-4 minutes and every host/server we interacted with was wonderful. Nothing but love for this place!
We appreciate Thai food, but rice and fish are better than soup, too lime taste.
Just excellent! The restaurant itself is very chic, and the staff/service is excellent.
They have a wide dish selection, perfect portions, and above all else…AMAZING flavors!
And Yes! they’re Vegetarian + Vegan!!!
I like this place, the good is delicious, I'll be back soon.
We travel a lot and I am very honest and fair in my reviews
I could not find fault at all
We are in our 60s and are very adventurous in trying international cuisine
The BEST Thai restaurant we have ever visited
This place is AMAZING, the food wow the subtle nuances in flavor and texture are out of this world how we managed to get a table is amazing, we are definitely going back very soon
Located on the corner of Adams and Idaho. Plenty of street parking during lunch. They have indoor and out door seating. Lunch menu, alcohol and good selection of refreshing teas and non-alcoholic. They have sibling restaurants like Plumeria, urban thai, and Kiin.
We had a group of 5 and ordered from the menu instead of lunch plates to all share family style.
Tamarind crispy chicken - popcorn sweet
Miang Kham - grilled shrimp with toasted coconut wrapped in lettuce dipped in the ginger sauce.
Tom yum- we picked shrimp. Had broccoli, adepts, mushrooms in classic broth.
Pad see iw - very flavorful, we picked beef
Pad Thai - traditional, we picked chicken
Red curry - we picked chicken with brown rice. White rice would have been better.
Signature fish filet - choice of catfish, salmon or sole. We did catfish. It’s so crispy and has Thai red curry paste.
Overall, the food wasn’t exceptional but it wasn’t bad either. It’s your typical Thai dishes made well.
The best Thai meal we've ever had! My husband (63 years old) took some of his meal home with him - the first time he's EVER done this IN HIS LIFE! 10 STARS!!!!!
Delicious Thai food. Always fresh tasting, quality ingredients, and they are very accommodating with level of spiciness. Also love the lychee Martini and thai tea.
OK I'll admit Thai is my favorite food in the world but this place was fantastic. I will come back again when I'm in the area if my girlfriend allows me. LOL!
Not quite the fan of Thai as I am :)
Smooth jazz atmosphere, warm and friendly customer service, flavor packed dishes...this is a top restaurant of excellence all around! I had the miang kham w/tofu and the perfect sized cup of Tom kah w/vegetables! The appetizer was layered with flavors that opened up to each other from toasted coconut to ginger and lime all wrapped in a crispy healthy lettuce leaf. The soup was 14oz of comfort and complementing flavors of delicate sweet coconut milk and light tang. I followed with a refreshing and soothing cup of hot jasmine tea and left feeling satisfyingly nourished and healthy!
Cozy. Seating can fill quickly. Only street parking.
Fantastic experience. I had the Signature Fish Fillet with Sole, brown rice, and spice level 6 - it was phenomenal and I would certainly order it again. The other three in my group all loved their dishes as well (Red Curry, Pad See with Crispy Chicken, and Spicy Noodles). In hindsight we should have either made a reservation, or ordered for take out ahead of time, because there was a decent wait when we arrived. This was Friday at 6pm, so we couldn't be upset about our own mistake. Overall, highly recommend, just be aware of when you're wanting to get food and plan ahead. There's a reason they're busy!
The food is incredible, and plated gorgeously. The staff is always super friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxing. This is a great place.
Fantastic!!!
I asked for Thai hot. She replied 'you want 10?' I want 12. "10?" 12. I got close to it and had sip my soup carefully and it made me cough once. Perfect!
Sukho Thai Extraordinaire (formally Chi Extraordinaire) is one of the best places to eat. Each time we dine (which is often) we are never disappointed. The food is always fresh and flavorful and always fantastic. When family is in town we always bring them here to enjoy a perfect meal. Staff is friendly and attentive. They always have a nice outside seating. Must go!
Great taste and friendly staff!
Great appetizers!
