Best Thai food delivery in SD area - Thai Food Near Fashion Valley, Mission Valley, San Diego States University, Mission George
Good and fast service; delicious (but spicy) food!
We came for lunch, and I ordered the lunch special of pineapple curry with chicken (spicy level 3). The Thai coffee was very good, and I enjoyed the flavor of my food. Though it was a bit above my spicy level, I still liked my food.
Lunch came to be around $20 with taxes and tips.
I got take out and was BLOWN AWAY by the larb!! The fresh herbs were on point!! Felt like I was back in Thailand :) but I’m a baby so it’s nice to be able to get a much lower spice level if you want/need. I will definitely come back. If you’ve never had larb you’ve got to try it. It’s one of my favorite Thai dishes
Kao Prao Thai in Mission Valley is simply the best! Every visit to this restaurant leaves me more impressed. The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes, each more delicious than the last. The flavors are rich and genuinely reflect traditional Thai cooking. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a family dinner or a romantic evening out. The staff is friendly and attentive, always making sure your dining experience is exceptional.
Food is good but spicy level is very inconsistent. I’ve had a 3 hurt to eat it was so spicy and a 1 with zero spice whatsoever. I eat spicy food and would like a moderate spice level but have only been able to get all or nothing on the spice level.
One year update! Well I have been coming here on and off over the last year. I am happy to report that Ka Prao Thai Cuisine is great as ever! Small changes here and there but nothing crazy. The most notable change is the interior design. Thank you being the best Thai restaurant.

Best Thai food in the San Diego, Coronado, and Imperial Beach area by far. So good in fact we went here two days in a row try more items off the menu. The staff are very nice and can help if you are not sure what you would like and the restaurant is kept clean. I would suggest anything you order get it a 9/10 on the spiciness. This place is also very popular for take out as well. All the plates can be shared so bring some friends and try out more plates!
Update September 19th 2021:
I am going back through all my reviews of restaurants to be more stringent and to compete my due diligence of each. I have set forth three rules that all restaurant will need to follow to get a three star rating.
The three rules for restaurants is the keep it fresh, keep it clean, and keep it simple!
Getting a four or five star will become harder, but not impossible! Why? Well, people rating poor restaurants as five stars when they are barely a two or three is commonplace in Google Maps and I would like to fix this problem.
I love this place but they need to get more consistent with their food. Their pad Thai spice level is always different and sometimes dry. Never know what you’re gonna get. Could be amazing or bad.

I Love It! 🤤 PIneapple Curry is delicious.
Nice place quick service. Food a little too pricy and salty for my taste. Good alternative to the Mexican and sandwich place here tho
I have had this place twice in the last week. Take out both times. The food was fresh and flavorful and stayed hot until we ate it. It’s packaged well and was ready both times before we arrived. Definitely a new favorite!
The Ka Prao Kai Dao is very good🔥
Been coming to this place for about 4 years now. It’s sad to see their ratings go down when the food is really exceptional. I’ve never had problem with the order either.
Their tomyum soup is the reason I come here. I would recommend small tomyum with veggies and a mild flavor( completely not spicy).
Pad see you and pad Thai isn’t bad either!
The Pad Se Eau was horrible. I ordered it "numb" spicy level and there was ZERO spice, or flavor. The only flavor came from what I can only assume we're burnt pieces of spearmint? I don't know but it was horrible, hard to finish. The crab puffs were also passable, over cooked and falling apart.
We came here for our first time for lunch. And not until after we were served a nester, another customer came by and asked for the lunch specials, and I was surprised how come they didn't offer that when we were there during the lunch special time period. In addition.
They added a 20% tip, which I didn't approve of.
So I won't be going back.
Good food, decent prices and a outdoor patio so you can bring your dog.
Som thum is good there.
Delicious hot food made to order!! Ground chicken with chili sauce, egg basil.. was amazing!!! Outdoor tables clean plenty, inside small but cozy.. gentleman at register was polite & very efficient... will be back!
Meat was dry and old tasting. Will never go back! Plus it was soo overpriced. $18.21 for some rice, chicken and a can of coke? give me a break

Got a spice level six, next time I'll try a four.
Solid Thai food, I get my pad thai with extra sauce and it is tasty! Friendly and quick service
By far the best Thai and sushi in town, arguably in Austin. Coming from Oregon, where great quality Thai and sushi is everywhere, it's hard to find a place that's just as good in Texas. This place is by far the best I've found, and the servers are prompt and so kind! Def have to check this place out if you haven't already!
I have a feeling that at some point there was a change of ownership. Suddenly, the crab fried rice lost all the flavor. It was soggy and mushy. The drunken noodles tasted burnt. This THAI restaurant also added a bunch of CHINESE dishes. Orange chicken was awful. The whole dish was just full of deep fried batter with sweet orange sauce.
Amazing food, and in walking distance. If you want thai, this is the right place, especially if you are someone who's traveling. It was pretty nice on how you can choose a spice level on a range of 1-10, although I wish I had taken photos of the food it was satisfying to my tatses and great overall! Especially the pad thai and vegetables that were cooked in sauce.
Loved it! I’ll be back !
Atmosphere and service were fine. My mango curry and garlic wings were not bad or anything. My issues are the wings don’t have much flavor, and the mango curry wasn’t a burst of flavor. Not ripe, not super sweet, but it was not mixed in properly with the curry. It was just mango chunks with curry on them. The chicken was also dry.. peas are kind of stale…
Overall, it doesn’t hurt to expect a nicer mango curry experience. Not losing hope 🙌
Update 4 seconds later:
I literally found this in my curry…
What?????
Very tasty food and taste authentic they have some nice spicy options the prices are fair the environment inside is nice they have a TV there is a restroom and kind employees
Food is good but they serve it in cheap toxic packaging (plastic and plastic-lined bowls, plastic utensils). Food is served too hot which increases chemical leaching into the food.
I’ve been ordering here for three years and the food is absolutely delicious, but I just noticed that they raised their price on certain items especially the starters. It’s upsetting, but I guess they got to do what they gotta do. I guess I’ll be ordering from somewhere else.
Placed a DoorDash order, was prepared quickly and pretty good. Only complaint was that curry couldn’t be made with “no spice” and the minimum spice level required to order was a bit much for my preference.
The Chicken Satay and the Mango Sweet Rice were unedible . Never had anything this bad in over 200+ times I had Thai food and am truthfully worried I have food poisoning tomorrow. The chicken was just so absurdly bad I am pretty sure it has issues, the mango was stone hard and the sticky rice was weirdly dry and of a super weird consistency.
In the top 3 of my worst food experiences in my entire life.
Spicy Basil Fried Rice was edible, but 1/3 is a really bad score. Have had 1 unedible dish before, but 2?? Hope I am still alive tomorrow after eating this chicken.
How dare you to serve this food.
Food is usually good, but DO NOT ORDER ONLINE through their website unless you're prepared to pay significantly MORE for every item. Online menu prices for in-person pickup are up to $2 higher than in the restaurant or phone in. There's no warning on their website that you'll have to pay more, which is pretty dishonest IMO
Overall the food was good. There was a small piece of bone in the lemongrass chicken and an egg shell in the pad see ew. The Thai tea was pretty good
A few small tables if you want to eat here. Most people get " to go". Food is tasty but spicy. They ask " how spicy?" 1-10. I can eat spice but a 4 blew my head off. I ask for 2 generally. That's good enough
I love the yellow curry
Not worth the price. 15 plus for pineapple fried rice
Tasty food, love their tom kha!
Got food poisoning here been sick for two days don’t eat here
I don’t know what they do but the eggplant is the best I’ve ever had.
Clean and Relaxing atmosphere, Courteous and friendly clerk. We had the pork pad Thai and the spicy basil chow mein, mild spice with lots of flavor! So good! I would come again.
Taste is good, results may land you in the hospital. I ordered a few days worth via Door Dash; crab fried rice, yellow curry, crab puffs, & fried rolls. Took me a day to realize it was their food that caused severe upset stomach, cramping, bloating, etc.
I’ve had Thai several times from different restaurants in San Diego and never had this issue. Normally I have to add a little bit of my g-free soy sauce but I didn’t to either dish even the crab fried rice. No one’s food is that perfect. Which means they add MSG to their food & do not tell their customers which is shameful. I’m allergic to MSG which is why I’m suffering for day after. Will NEVER eat there again nor recommend it.
I ordered on Uber eats pad see eau spicy MALA and was not spicy at all
This was my first visit to Ka Prao and I didn't want a huge lunch so I ordered Larb salad with minced chicken. I only had to wait 5 or 6 minutes until my salad arrived -- quick service! -- and the small lunch I thought I ordered turned out to be huge!! It easily became lunch and dinner! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were thinly coated with a delicious dressing. The young man who took my order and served the food was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The restaurant has an outside seating area but it was a little chilly so I ate inside. The inside is small, well lit and very clean but there are only 3 tables and a little counter seating area. I'm sure it fills up quickly during lunch and dinner hours. Fortunately, I came mid-afternoon so a table was available. When the weather gets warmer, I'll eat outside -- and I'll definitely come again! This little place is great!
Phad kee mao aka drunken noodle from this restaurant is awesome. Noodles are well fried and seasoned and has a strong garlic-y flavor. Has all the right vegetables in the mix. The fried tofu is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this restaurant to Thai food lovers.
Cashew Chicken is Wonderful
Service on point and food was delicious and fresh. Alittle pricey but if you can afford it great place.
The spicy chow mein was such a disappointment. I had high hopes. The noodles are extremely thin and dry. The Tom Yum soup was lacking in luster as well. I wouldn't recommend this place for thai food. I feel cheated. Apologies.
Surprisingly good spot for your thai kick! Their lemongrass chicken (comes with salad and sticky rice) was one of the best flavored chicken dish I’ve ever had. I love their coconut soup and other dishes as well. Great place with really awesome flavors!
This place is no joke ! It’s supa delicious
Great take out. Always really flavorful.
The drunken noodle was delicious favor was there it was sweet salty and spicy with the hint of Thai basil aroma just how I like it 4.6 🌟 / 5 🌟
Chicken larb was lacking flavor like fish sauce lime and pepper but it wasn't lacking any sugar taste too sweet. It was a sweet bland taste. Lucky I had all the seasoning to adjust the favor 2 🌟
The sticky rice was a failure the texture was super soft and gooey not of a sticky rice at all 0
Lacking flavor, I tried pad thai, and fried rice. Pad thai was extremely dry and it really tasted bland. I ordered a six and still had to add chili paste. Definitely not worth the money or the waste of a meal.🥲
I would not trust the food safety here. My girlfriend and I ordered pineapple curry and Pad Thai for dinner. We both got serious diarrhea throughout the next day.
Never had a problem on this place ever since I've come here. Only today, The cashier, I didn't know her name she start yelling at me when I ask to remake my Thai tea cause I saw it was been made in the side they trying to give it to me and they always make when I order. I even call to ask for a manager and she keep yelling at me at the phone told me there is no manager. It was a crazy experience and customer service is horrible. She didn't even give me my discount. It's crazy never had this before.
The service was super quick. I was surprised how quickly they were able to prepare our food. The crab fried rice and the yellow cury were good. The orange chicken could have been better.
Very expensive !! 16$ for Lunch special ! Wth with those prices, im not coming back here!
This place has some of the BEST curry I've ever had!! Hands Down!! The price is a little higher, yes, but the size of veggies and protein are Worth it!! It's Very delicious and will practically come here once a week 🤩
My second time here. This time I got one of my favs, Pad Se Ew, with soft tofu. Spice level 0. It was absolutely delicious! Noodles cooked to perfection, plenty of healthy broccoli, and lots of yummy soft tofu, all in a mouth-pleasing sauce. The cashier was very nice and aimed to please her customers from what I observed as I waited for my food. The Thai tea was very nice too!
I ordered the spring rolls and shredded chicken through DoorDash. The spring rolls were awful. It was mostly just lettuce with two small pieces of shrimp (see photo). They didn't even put rice noodles in the roll. I can't believe I paid $10 for lettuce wrapped in rice paper.
The shredded chicken was not bad, but also not worth $16. It would have been nice if the egg that it came with was cooked over easy instead of a hard, dry yolk.
Bland, felt rushed for lunch. Large order for 5. Range of orders. Chicken was breaded when you'd expect different. Rice was dry.
Terrible. Put meat in my vegetarian dish. Ignored all the special requests of the delivery order. Plenty of Thai places DON'T get from here.
Good food.
Suggestion, be sure to emphasize if you "don't want spicy" be sure they repeat it back to you. If not your mouth will be on fire!!
I absolutely love Thai food and y'all I think I found my new favorite spot. I ordered a lil spicier than usual to help clear my sinuses and unlike other places I don't regret it at ALL; the heat is delicious and layered with flavor, I found myself digging back in for more, I'm laying down full and happy and on my way to heaven. The panang curry is to die for, perfect ratio of sauce to rice, the shrimp is tender and flavorful, the veggies are the perfect Middle ground between soft and firm, the flavor and aroma is other worldly. Their garlic ginger wings are so juicy and the skin is the crispiest in such a unique way, and I almost drank down the chili sauce it came with. Also I ordered the Tom yum to assist in my congestion and my first sip was the best Tom yum I've had in years. Savoryz flavorful, deeply spiced and pleasantly sour, even when it had gone cold I was crushing the veggies trying to get ever drop of gold from them. When the world is less on fire you better believe I'll be visiting here in person, 5/5 stars, highly recommend, I'm in love
The pad Thai was sweet but the Thai tea was delicious 10/10
First time here; food was great fresh tasty and aromatic. Lady at the counter was kind and helpfully. I asked her what was the most popular thing on the menu and asked her to pick out the drink. Not sure what I got but is delicious lol. I saw others peoples food and they also smelled and looked amazing. Would come again.
Posted hours stated that they were open, but when we walked in at 3PM we were told they were closed and reopen at 4PM
I'm so glad I ordered the Pad Thai, it was amazing.
10/29/2021 Dining in was okay. No real table service as this place seems to mostly cater to take out and delivery. The food was okay, fried rice did not have much taste. The salad was too spicy. Pad thai was traditionally made as spicy, but was also made too spicy. Suggestion for ordering spicy food is to perhaps have a 1-5 or 1-10 scale rather than making everything the same spicy level.

I’ve ordered food here a few times & it’s always been a good experience, however it’s been awhile since I’ve been back. Today I ordered pad Thai it tasted pretty bad. The noodles look like it’s been cut short and it’s over cooked-very mooshy, as well as way too sour.
Consistently good food at a reasonable price and the people are polite. You have to get past the heavy accents but to me that just means it's genuine Thai food. There were none of those little balls in my Thai iced tea but they gave me a choice of half and half or almond milk and everything was very good and there's a vegetarian they're mock duck was especially nice.
Best fried rice in San Diego!
Great taste and well proportion meal. Clean and quick service. Clean restroom. Free parking. Order to go or delivery are available. They open for dine in, so outside tables are available and 2 tables inside.
So I walk in and the cook goes into the restroom with gloves on and he uses the toilet I hear a flush and then he immediately comes out with the gloves still on his hands ! And goes back into the kitchen , I walked right out !
Wow! Food was fresh and delicious. Next time I'll order my plate higher on the Scoville scale
Great classic Thai food here. All noodle and rice dishes are what you expect Recommend to anyone in the area!
They are extremely busy during peak hours. Be warned! Everything I have ordered thus far has been very tasty! From the spring rolls to the curry and noodles. One of my favorite spots for takeout! They have a very small place and a few tables outside. However, I usually just order takeout.
Loved the drunken noodles and papaya salad!!
Also, try boba tea from a place next to this place
Great food with quality ingredients. Very friendly staff. Conveniently located. Recommended 100%
Legit thai food
We stopped by on Valentines day and these guys were crazy busy. We ordered what should have been a fairly easy dish and took the meals home to eat. All the food other than the noodles tasted like it was cooked several days ago and heated up to serve for takeout. The chicken was clumped together and hard to break apart, much less chew. I would avoid this place if your looking for good food unless you looking for drunken noodles.
My family and I love this place! I love getting the drunken noodles with tofu and spice level 9-10 And they actually give you that spice level! I love spicy and they actually make it spicy! And my mom and boyfriend don’t really like spicy and they get a level 4-5 and they love it! So we love that you can customize the spice level. Their food is flavorful and yummy! My little sister loves the potstickers! You need to come here for amazing Thai food! We usually go out of our way to come here and it’s worth it!
Very disappointed of their Pad Thai when a few reviews say it's the best one they've ever had... The noodles were too wet and soggy, and cooked like it was pad see ew. The sauce made the dish overbearing, and I'm glad I got an appetizer with my meal. The garlic chicken wings were good.
The food is delicious but they never answer the phone even if I call multiple times especially after 2:30 since they close at 3 for a break and reopen at 4:30.. lazyness if you ask me. Must be filthy rich if you don't care that you lose money.. has happened MANY TIMES. Even if I'm calling before 2:30.
Very good pad thai and fried rice!
The reviews don’t lie. This food is amazing! I got the garlic wings, see through rolls, and veggie pad Thai via DoorDash. I’m always skeptical about placing these orders because the order shows up cold if the restaurant is a bit too far and it’s my first time trying this place... No disappointment here. ☺️ Everything is delicious, warm, and fresh. Thank you so much for the wonderful, comforting meal! I’ll be making future orders for sure! Also thanks to my dasher, Robert, for being gentle with my delivery!
When you don't have your hours on the front of your store you have to resort to there website. Easy enough right! When they see sitting in front of the store for 20 minutes waiting they could have the common decency to say there hours have changed. Piss poor management!
What a hidden gem. I lived in Thailand for a year and I’m very picky about my Thai food. This is my go-to spot. Always fresh, delicious, authentic, clean, and fast. Highly highly highly recommend!
I ordered to be delivery to my house. I had some pad thai. Not sure if it was because I ordered from door dash, I was not asked the spicy level. It was not spicy at all :( it was still delicious just wished it was spicy.
Great food, terrible customer service
Dine outside
I ordered a Yum salad and mid way through, I found a piece of metal and stopped eating. My daughter had the pad see ew and ended up throwing up when we got home along with diarrhea. . we won't be going back.
Uses to love their pad Thai but seems they recently switched their recipe to include more of a tamarind flavor/sauce. Also got the mango sticky rice one time which i loooove and the mango, although sliced, was rotting on the inside. So disappointing because their food is great for the mlst part but consistency is key always.
Good food, service and great price
Stumbled across this place and wow it was good. We live in Carlsbad and might have to make the drive just for this place. Much needed comfort food while our kiddo was at Rady’s.
It's a very quiet & clean place.
We ordered delivery and chose Ka Prao Thai based on reviews. Savory garlic edamame, huge, crunchy spring rolls with flavorful sauces, my partner loved the drunken noodles, and my yellow curry's aroma knocked my socks off as soon as I opened the container. We will definitely come again!
Been eating here for years, amazing quality every time and great customer service. Highly recommend!
We love Thai food and always are looking to expand our personal restaurant catalog. This place was a definite homeroom and we will be headed back soon.
My wife doesn't life seafood so normally I get to hoard anything with crab or fish. I got a crab puff for myself but I should have gotten two. It was so delicious that my wife ate half the appetizer. (Who knows, maybe you have converted her to an appreciation of crab) The Sweet and Sour Sauce paired very well and the wanton was incredibly flaky.
The Yellow Curry was phenomenal. This tends to be my go-to Thai dish since it has hints of an Indian palette (my culture). The curry itself was one of the best tasting I have ever had. The vegetables should be cut into smaller pieces or cooked longer since they were still a bit tough.
I will say that the Chicken Pad Thai was a slight disappointment. It was still tasty but after having two spectacular dishes, I was expecting more.
The Thai Ice Tea was pretty standard (good) and the Mango Sticky Rice had a nice coconut sauce but the Mango we were given was a bit bland but I know that is the hazard with getting fruit when it is out of peak season.
We also appreciated that precaution taken to minimize my need to touch surfaces during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was able to order online and the only thing I touched during the pick up was the bag with my food.
In summary, lots of good food but some dishes really stand out.
Really, really good Thai food from an awesome small business in Mission Valley. Thanks guys!
Super delicious😍

🇹🇭 It’s Thankful Thursday and I’m thankful for the amazing dishes at Ka Prao Thai Cuisine in San Diego. Everything here was so good, affordable and definitely worth a try. Bookmark this restaurant to visit the next time you’re in the area
Best Thai food outside of Chiang Mai
Worst place I have been. Waited for 20 minutes without a sign. Left without food.
A waste of life.
Just had dinner form Here. Ordered Drunken Noodles and Pad Thai. While the Drunken Noodles were good, not great but good, the Pad Thai on the other had was extremely bland with no flavor. It was almost as if the two items came form two different restaurants. I had asked for a spice level of ^ out of 10 for both items, the Noodles had the right amount of spice, the Pad Thai had little to no spice, more like a level 1. Would I order again, yes, but I would avoid the Pad Thai.
SHOCKED! This place was a last minute decision. Ordered something that sounded decent and was blown away by the flavour and quality of meat. I'll definitely be back. I wish there was a location closer to downtown.
Yummy yummy in my tummy
Everything is delicious . Best Thai place around 100%
So I tried this place at least 10 times before I rated it. I LOVE this place. The food is amazing. Every bite is just flavorful and absolutely impeccable. The service is incredible! Everyone is friendly and welcoming, the price is absolutely fair and there is not a bad thing on the menu.
This place makes amazing Thai food as fast as you would expect fast food with all the same amazing flavor of authentic Thai cuisine.
The best
Huge servings
Very delicious
I love this place. Ordered the mixed vegetables with Shrimp for 10 bucks 4 shrimp. Even as lunch special for 11.50 after tip. Not sure I'll order this again.
Great food, nice outside seating, only problem is the staff, young lady at the counter with cirular glasses was pretty rude overall to everyone even to her own staff.
Basil chicken was good and they offerany different sides dishes
Thai food always good the waitresses we're real quick coming back and forth to make sure that you had everything that you needed the wait wasn't long to be able to sit down it is handicapped accessible oh no it's a good restaurant well worth going to and well worth coming back to!
Delicious
Ordered the green curry changed the peas to bamboo shoots. Amazing thank you. Excellent service too!!! Definitely will go again.
While I was a bit startled and disappointed that my food was served on a paper plate, the portion size was large and plentiful and the pad see ew was delicious! I asked for medium spicy asked that's exactly what I got.
I had the chicken panang curry lunch. It was very tasty with a large portion for only $9.00. I’d definitely recommend.
Great food and fair prices. Only downside is their food is sweet.
Love their food
Yummy
Amazing Thai food here! They have many selections from pad Thai to pad see ew, many different types of Thai cuisine. The customer service is great and food comes out quick. I highly recommend stopping by and getting some Thai food!
In March 2019, They have cut their portion size in half and kept the same prices. I came here often because of the good food and good portions, now I will not be coming back.
Restaurants like this deserve to go out of business. Do not go here.
Disclaimer: DoorDash order
Ordered the Pad Thai and the chicken satay for the little one. She loved the chicken satay a lot. You could see it was succulent. The Pad Thai was strangely saucy and the way I like it. It was rather tasty despite being the vegetarian version. Another good place to order your Thai food from.
Amazing food. Fried rice and drunken noodles are awesome. Try their lunch specials 👌👌
Great lunch special!!!
Excellent food. Great prices and great service. Would definitely come back again.
Was quite disappointed in the food and the service in this restaurant, and I'm usually pretty forgiving with Thai food.
I was with my 2 year old son and ordered Pad Thai with vegetables thinking it would be an ok option to share. The portion was generous, but it was so oily and bland it was hard to enjoy. Most of the veggies were mushrooms, which sucks, let's be honest. I also didn't save the rest for leftovers, which is unheard of for me! Mango sticky rice was decent.
