“Bahn” meaning home, is the feeling we want all of our customers to have when they come to our family owned and operated restaurant. We are a Thai restaurant that offers takeout and catering . Serving fresh and flavorful authentic Thai dishes.
In town with my coworkers for a system upgrade. Stopped in based on a review from Yelp. Portions are nice, you're not wanting more or a bit extra. Their spice level is a bit more than most since they use fresh peppers. I had the drunken noodles with tofu. Very tasty with vegetables. Basil and onions are very fresh along with the peppers and onions. Noodles are not dry, very moist. My coworkers got the pork with green curry while the other guy, the fried rice with tofu. Medium spice on their dishes or
both say the food is fresh and tasty. The atmosphere outside consists of folks from the nearby University. My drunken Doodle dish from Bahn Thai. Food was ordered to go. Limited seating, out in the front.
This San Diego restaurant impressed us with its Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken, Thai Fried Rice with Tofu, and Papaya Salad. The dishes were hot and delicious, but the limited dining space was a drawback. The value for money was great, and we highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you're a fan of Asian cuisine.
I have ordered takeout from Bahn Thai twice now and both times have not disappointed! The food is delicious and the orders were ready for pickup on time. I would highly recommend the tofu pad thai and pad see ew. Will definitely be back again to try more of their menu!
We came to San Diego for a little vacation. We got hungry, and we came across this place searching in Google for authentic Thai food. The reviews were great, so we decided to come to Bahn Thai. The food was delicious. I ordered the yellow curry. My wife ordered pad Thai. But watch out for the spice level. Medium has a really nice kick to it. It was spicy, but it was delicious. Customer service was efficient and fast. They were all friendly and respectful. The seating is first-come, first-served. They also have high chairs in case you have children. That was a plus. Once our food was ready, they came out to hand it to us personally. I would definitely return for more.
The food was amazing. We had to wait about 60 minutes for it when they said it would take about 25, but it was worth the wait. It's a very small place with no bathroom, but the people are nice, they have delicious fresh pepper flakes available, and they showcase their portion sizes.
Best Thai food around. Fresh ingredients, great flavor. Parking is tight. You might have to wait unless you do take out. We travel in from East County several times a month to eat here. Always delicious and a friendly!
I have ordered takeout from Bahn Thai twice now and both times have not disappointed! The food is delicious and the orders were ready for pickup on time. I would highly recommend the tofu pad thai and pad see ew. Will definitely be back again to try more of their menu!
Food is amazing, probably the best Thai food I’ve had in So-Cal. We got the Pad See Ew and the crab cream rangoons. So tastey, the noodles are pan seared to perfection with the crunchy garlic oils. The rangoons were so yummy the crunch to cream/crab ratio was perfection!
This is the best Thai Food place I've been to in San Diego! They serve huge portions for super cheap and the quality is 5 star! I can't wait until they reopen their Hillcrest Location!
Absolutely delicious!
The food was soooooo good, I love that they also do spice levels cause I like my food spicy.
Amazing food. Great staff! Docked one star because I am tired of coming here to eat & peoples dirty dogs are sitting in chairs. We sit in these chairs & they step in everything. Also, the guys dog hair kept flying in my food. Until this is addressed, I won't be back.

The best most authentic Thai food I have ever had, tastes just like when I was in Thailand
Great authentic thai food and atmosphere. One of best thai food in US
Tried their mushroom tom yum soup! And this is easily replaced my usual tom yum order !!! Eager to try more items off their menu!!
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in San Diego. Food is about 4.5 stars. I do feel like the quality has not been as high as pre-pandemic, but it is still good. I usually order takeout here because seating and parking are limited.
Their mango sticky rice is perfection. Their pad see ew, roast duck curry, and curry fried rice are delicious.
Great pineapple fried rice and basil fried rice. Highly recommended.
Consistently delicious, love the chili oil!
The best Thai in San Diego. Get the panang curry, eggplant basil, or drunken noodles!

We had lunch on a Saturday. Tom Ka soup, vegetarian, with mild spice!!! Delicious and authentic. Drunken Noodles with chicken. Just the right flavor combination. They can add as many Thai basil leaves for me. More More!. This place apparently can get very busy and there is limited outdoor seating, so be prepared. Otherwise, outstanding.
Best Thai in San Diego!! Good vegetarian options as well.
The food was amazing and the service was fast. I would definitely recommend this place!
A simple establishment with just outdoor seating. Best green curry I’ve ever had, especially as a vegetarian… they loaded this with veggies! I’m super happy. Highly recommend
The best thay food
Very tasty, great quality and good prices. They stay pretty busy, but worth the wait.
Hands down best Thai food in SD! Was a regular spot for us until we moved. Reasonable prices too!
Delicious!!!
Amazing Thai Food and super easy to order via phone and pickup...yum yum.
It's first come 1st serve. There is limited seating. The food is very good. As for spice level it's asian spicy and not the American style spicy. If you love spicy go for the very hot. Highly recommend all the food we ordered were very tasty.
Extensive vegan options! Tried Papaya Salad, Garlic Tofu Stir Fry, Mango Sticky Rice, and Thai Iced Tea. All of it was delicious!
Good food, I wish the take out packaging was less plastic. It's very wasteful
Super delicious food, again service and very quick!!
Got takeout and was bomb. Got the yellow curry and eggplant basil stir fry w chicken.
Buenas comidas
Tried their Lemongrass chicken 10/10. Not a lot of places to sit, but the atmosphere is good
GET THE CRAB RANGOON! 🙏🏼
From people who have taste, this is very disappointing. The pad thai was too sweet and the papaye salad very boring. As for the lemongrass chicken, no taste. Will not recommend.
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had, and the service team was super friendly. Would definitely go back!
Food was a 10 curry chicken 😋😋😋
The food is really good. This is a must try place. The only downside is that there is hardly any place to sit.
We got the pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, and the massaman curry. The taste was pretty good, and the pineapple fried rice could be one of the best we have tried in San Diego.
I just got the medium spice level, but I could take the 'hot' spice level as I couldn't feel any hotness in Medium. I usually eat spicy food but have had bad experiences with choosing hot in other thai places.
Ordered Red curry with tofu for take out. Turned our to be red curry with chicken. Went back, they replaced it for us, no apology, no remorse. Business needs to understand that these errors can be more damaging that they think.
Great place for take out.
Only a couple of sidewalk tables for eating 'in'
I traveled to Thailand and tasted the food there and the food here is the best
Love the food and that they have vegan options. They do not have many tables and there is no indoor seating. Would recommend, but keep the outdoor/minimal seating in mind. Great for takeout.
Why it would have anything less than 5 stars, I don't know. My family and I love this place. We usually get the Thai fried rice w/fried tofu, beef pad-see-ew and chicken cashew; the beef is tender and the chicken isn't dry. Finally ordered the Thai Tea and enjoyed it as it wasn't overly sweet. There is only outdoor seating but it's a nice area and comfortable.
Small little place. The food was all great! If you are not good with spice, the medium is still spicy, so get mild. It was good spicy but be careful!
Small venue, bout have grabbed takeout here several times. Good prices, and really good food. Don't pass this place up, they're outstanding! Small eat-in area, but so worth the wait!
Amazing! Get their Bomber eggs. The best. Good service, friendly and Yummy!
The food is always great and the staff are always such lovely nice and caring even though they are super busy. Try the food you won't be disappointed
We went to the University Heights location, which is small with a few tables outside, but very busy during dinner on Saturday evening. The food was very flavorful and authentic Thai, having spent some time in Bangkok, Thailand. Many people opted for ordering online and picking up. Parking is difficult but well worth the hassle.
So good! Incredibly delicious Thai food. Consistently good, and service is fast and friendly. Their panang curry is the absolute best one I’ve ever had. Their spice scale is legit too. If you want spicy, you can get spicy. Lots of gluten free and veggie options, too.
Amazing Thai food! I love a place that can do Thai hot well, and this is that place. I can’t recommend Bahn Thai enough - everything we got was awesome so you can’t go wrong. Finally, authentic Thai in San Diego!
Good Thai food loved the Tom Yom, drunken noodles, red curry. the only thing missing is a sliced avocado on top.
YUM YUM YUMMMMMM 😋
Good quick service, ordered and received meal in a short time. Pleasant staff
Great food! Super casual spot and can be a lengthy wait depending on when you go. Some tables to eat outside but good luck getting one or even a parking spot!
Service was extremely respectful and family friendly. They greeted myself, my wife and spent time entertaining my 18 month old daughter while we were ordering. Extremely professional and welcoming people and the food was right on par to compliment the service. As a Thai food enthusiast I would greatly recommend this place. My Thai food stop every time we’re in San Diego moving forward. Thank you guys.
Decent food. Not enough seating
Best thai food in SD . My opinion. Always get the pad thai and vegan thai tea so good , will not dissapoint.
Best green curry in San Diego. I love going here and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to try
Some of the best tasting Thai anywhere.
First time here. I'm a huge thai food fan. This place is amazing. A proper thai hot. Pad thai was great, the Tom Yum soup was some of the best I've ever had! Will definitely be back.

Their food, customer service, and turnaround times are great.
The food has all the thai flavors one would hope for. Comfort food and their soup on rainy days warm the soul.
Initially, the best Thai place in San Diego. Quality is starting to diminish. Went for pad see ew today and was told after the fact when I ordered and picked up that they don’t do wide rice noodles anymore.
Essentially was given thin (pad Thai-style) rice noodles instead of the normal wide rice noodles and wasn’t given a heads up.
very simple. good price. good food
Out of the dozens of Thai restaurants, I have tried over the years. I don’t know that I remember one red curry that I enjoyed more than this.
Ann and anna were super great in helping me to choose meals that accommodated my allergies! I love the food and customer service here. 10/10 recommend!they are open late too
Best food no joke.
Coming from someone who ate his way through Thailand🤣, best Thai food in SD! Do yourself a favor and order the spring rolls and the Massaman curry. Simply the good life!!! I would share pics but smashed the food so quick, no survivors haha. Highly recommend 😎
Very busy little spot with authentic Thai food. We like very spicy food so we got a 4 star (very hot). It goes up to 5 stars (Thai spicy). My daughter got a 2 star Phad Thai and it was very good. My husband got a 4 star phad see ew and it was quite spicy but delicious. However my 4 star drunken noodles was completely inedible. It was the hottest thing I’ve ever eaten. I had to throw it out. I’ll order a 3 star next time and get the phad Thai.
Soup was extremely watered down zero flavor asked for not spicy it was extremely spicy, there’s no seating inside anywhere and they have bad attitudes.
Delicious food! Seating area is VERY limited.
When this place says it can make it super spicy, then they mean it. Their pad thai hit the spot in terms of flavor and freshness of the veggies. It took quite a long time for the order but that speaks for this place as it was quite busy.
Good thai food. No indoor seating. Good prices. Big papaya salad. I'd come back if I was nearby.
Best Thai food in San Diego. My favorite is their pad see ew. I love that they mark which dishes are gluten free on the menu, and most dishes can be made gluten free on request.
This is the best thai food you can get in San Diego. All dishes are worth trying.
I moved out of the state and I miss this place most 💔
Absolutely delicious Pad Thai. Wife loved the Pad See Ew. Spice levels are true to the number. Flavors are on point. The line out the door is indicative of how good the food is.
I got their Tofu Pad See Ew and it was extremely flavorful. Their mild spice level added some great flavor without being too spicy.
I like how this location has outdoor seating and can accommodate a larger group (10 people), compared to their original location.
The staff made our meals in a relatively quick time period but still maintained it's great quality.
Phenomenal pad see ew! Very nice staff too
I’ve been here a few times and the food is always phenomenal! High quality food, and great service!
Authentic massaman curry! Rich and complex flavours not made with paste from a can. Simply delicious!
My favorit Padthai at Bahnthai
I love that the food is customizable here. I am usually cautious when I get Thai food because of allergies and food preferences. However, at this restaurant, you pick your base (noodles, rice, etc ), your protein, and the spiciness. Your pick each part of the dish. I loved it. The food was fantastic and I can't wait to go back!
I don't even live in this town! It's literally 50% of why I visit San Diego County. I never leave without it
The crab Rangoon are the best in the world & with that plum sauce! Effn Fantastic
The drunken noodles are my favorite! The Bomber eggs are something I've never had before and it was not a disappointment. Love the flavors!
#2 visit-Finally made it back here for dinner. Take out on a rainy day was already busy at 3pm. Should have ordered ahead by phone. Satay, Tom Kah shrimp soup, chicken wings and eggplant were all perfect! Ordered for 2 but have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. No reason to go anywhere else in San Diego for Thai cuisine.
#1 visit --Just had a bowl of tom ka gai for lunch. Lovely chicken, mushrooms, spiced exactly as ordered & DELICIOUS! A true CLASSIC! I can't wait to go back and try some other items (see above). Seating is limited to a few tables on the sidewalk. Parking can be a challenge.
Definitely some of the best Thai food in San Diego and competitive, affordable pricing!
Deep flavors, can be spicy if you’d like. Every bite is savory and umami - love their curries and pad Thai and everything here really.
Decent Thai place, difficult to find parking during dinner time and had to wait 25 minutes for my order. There are seats outside but it’s first come first serve. I got the pad see ew and I would say that it’s pretty good but not sure if it’s worth the inconvenience.
Incredible food.. we came back for seconds the night before we left San Diego because it was that good. Definitely put this place on your list!
Everything was amazing ~chef's kiss~ !!!
Excellent food. It was quite busy so took a while to get dinner but so worth the wait. All outdoor seating and only 4 tables so plan to do carry out unless you are lucky.
Outside seating only but my go to Thai restaurant in San Diego
We had drunken noodles and mango sticky rice. Both of these were very tasty.
The best Thai in SoCal! Limited seating and street parking
Bahn Thai is a staple for restaurants to go to in my family! My husband loves the drunk noodles and I love the green curry with duck! We both like the spice level medium. Medium is perfect for our palate it’s not too spicy where it’s not enjoyable, it’s lil extra pack of flavor! Hot is just like the word it’s HOT!!! I tried it once and my mouth was watering and I can take the heat. So if you’re not a spice person Just go with the mild. If you have kiddos I usually get our daughter the pineapple fried rice with no nuts, you do all veggies which comes with broccoli and variety of veggies.
Great food. Outside eating only. A little expensive
I stopped by here for my lunch a few days ago and wasn't disappointed. I like Thai food and I like it very spicy. Their 5 star is a real 5 star. I've been to Thailand before and spicy over there is on another level. I had the green curry with beef and the crab rangoon which is one of my favorites. If you want some solid Thai food without going to Thailand, check this place out if you're in the area.
Their food is always delicious, and I love their Thai Tea. The Thai Tea is usually very good. There was only one time I had it that it was too sweet.
Great place! Limited outdoor seating.
Enjoyed some spicy food to order!
Great Thai food, service is great. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended their Pad Thai and Panaang Curry! Mango sticky rice is really good too!
We selected the spring rolls, pineapple fried rice, basil fried rice, and crab fried rice, and every single dish was absolutely amazing! They prepared the dishes perfectly to suit my spicy taste as requested, and their Thai chili oil was simply delicious! I adore the place—its cozy, bustling ambiance, the fantastic and affordable menu pricing, and the excellent customer service.
Great food, fast service, no seating available, so we ate it at home.
Excellent food. I love Thai food and Bahn does it well. Visited on a friend's recommendation and I'd definitely visit again. Limited table space though, but we were able to find seating.
Parking can be a pain but the som tum was worth it. Excited to get more.
The food is very delicious, my 11 year old doesn't eat any else but burgers, fries and pizza. He liked it very much.
Definitely in the top 5 Thai places I have ever eaten...and I have had a lot of Thai! Bahn Thai you're killing it!
Food here is absolutely delicious!!! My favorites are the panang curry and pad see ew. Always lots of flavorful and moist chicken. Great for takeout but limited seating and outdoors only.
I ordered takeout from this restaurant, and I must say their Panang Curry and Drunken Noodles were absolutely delicious. The flavors were outstanding, and I'll definitely be ordering from them again!
Always popping over here! I just got a Chai Tea. Always busy!
Very tasty food, some meals are pretty spicy, which I loved. The atmosphere and interior is great too. Can recommend for visiting
I’m sad to be this person, but this place is pretty overrated. They have great spice level but the actual flavors aren’t there. Pretty disappointing for $40. The staff were kind and my food was hot and ready when I picked it up, but I won’t be returning due to the lack of flavor.
Great food- the place was very busy for take out as well
Bhan Thai is by far the best Thai food around San Diego!!
Delicious Thai food. Unfortunately everything is sold in plastic boxes.
Everything is so good!
This place is so dang good. Probably the best Thai food that I've ever had. And they are so, dang, consistently, THAT good.
My go-tos are pad Thai and yellow curry but their fried rices are amazing as well. Try the crab fried rice next time you're trying to switch it up but want a safe winner.
THANK YOU BANH THAI <3
Excellent gluten-free and dairy-free options. Menu showed what could be requested for dietary restrictions. Very tasty gluten-free pad thai, flavorful. Parking is street parking and its is more like a take out place. A few seats are outside that are first come first serve. 100% would go again.
They really need to work on someone taking orders that speaks or understands eglish... im not normally one to say this, but I have called and ordered food here many times, and not one time have they ever gotten my order correct. Even after repeating several times. Other than terrible customer service the food is actually good when it's right.
