I have driven past this nondescript location numerous times. I finally stopped in and realize now that I have missing out on a great Thai place! As they say, you shouldnt judge a book by its cover, you shouldnt judge JP Thai Kitchen by its exterior.
Inside is nicely decorated. Tables and the space are clean. The person taking orders and serving food was nice and professional. And the food was very delicious.
For my first visit I went with the papaya salad and yellow curry with chicken. Both were seasoned very well. The salad hit the sweet, sour, and salty notes. The curry was rich and flavorful with lots of chicken, potatoes and carrots to make it a filling dish. While tasty, I did not find any of the food too spicey. If I was to criticize, it would be that people who expect Thai food to be very hot might be left wanting for more heat. Fortunately they can provide an assortment of chilli flakes and hot sauces to adjust as you like.
I could barely enjoy the ingredients because the whole plate was covered with overly strong sauce. Some bites were suddenly salty or acidic and too overwhelming for the taste making it an unbalanced dish for me. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you enjoy excessive seasoning or Pad Thai on the heavily sweet side.
JP Thai Kitchen is a hidden gem on Freeport Blvd in Sacramento. The food is delicious with an excellent service. The dining room is a little dated but comfortable. I have the Roasted Duck Curry and Spicy Fish (I want it mild). I also ordered brown rice for the curry. All the dishes are delicious. However, I hope the Roasted Duck Curry is a little more creamy. It is more like a curry soup; even the curry tastes very well.
This is our go-to Thai spot every single time; a hidden gem that is always delicious. We do more take-out than dine-in but the food is ways hot, ready quickly, and delicious. My partner and I like really different spice levels and they always do a great job of meeting both sets of preferences, even on meals that are not low spice by design (like pad thai).
I stumbled upon this "hole in the wall", and I was quite impressed. As a seasoned traveler with experience dining at Thai restaurants from Seattle to New York—and even in Thailand—this place truly stands out. The Pad Thai and Tom Yum were among the best I've ever had, easily ranking in my top 3. Everyone has different tastebuds but it was perfect for me. Can't wait to come back and try different options.
The Thai food here was soooo good! All the food had a very comfortable amount of heat without being overpowering! We got the red curry, fires rice, spicy fish, and pad Thai, and i couldn't stop eating it was so good. I think my only complaint is that the spicy fish didn't have much fish for $16. It was maybe like 2 pieces of fish per person.
Also they do not provide any complimentary rice with any dishes, even the curry, and that's an extra $1.50 per bowl, which I didn't like. The service was good though and they were always coming up to us refilling our water and asking if we were doing well.
The best thai food we had for last few years!
The food is very expensive and the quantity is very less for that price. I have been to several other Thai restaurants and their quantities are more than enough for two people but this place’s quantity was barely enough for one person.
Great food and service!

You will find this cuisine has everything that makes Thai food so special. Hands down the best, most authentic Thai food in Sacramento. The service is fast and friendly. You will love this restaurant!

the besttt Thai spot there is I bring my whole family here we love Thai food
Pad Thai noodles
Avocado green curry
So good
Place is right across from the airport
I could barely enjoy the ingredients because the whole plate was covered with overly strong sauce. Super yummy food. Super clean place Best service. 👌
Best Larb in the greater Sacramento area, hands down. Drunken noodles that never disappoint. Their Avocado green curry is killer and they have nonstop fantastic service with cozy and clean atmosphere. Bring your family and enjoy food that’s prepared with love. I enjoy topping it all off with their Ice Tea Coffee to go.
Yellow Curry with Fish is THE BEST IN SACRAMENTO!!
Good food very tasty! The service was great they were very friendly right from beginning until the end. The disappointment was the price of food does not match the portions they give you at all, very small amount, almost not worth it.
Our favorite thai place in the area, the food is consistently excellent and staff are always welcoming. There is not a bad dish in their menu. Excellent food. You won’t be disappointed.
Their food is delicious! The quantity is perfect. Today we tried dessert -- the fresh mango & sticky rice was the best I've ever had. Even their icee tea is tasty. Love this place.
I ordered the red curry and sticky rice. I knew that there may be a high chance that I will not be served fresh sticky rice but I took the gamble any ways. I shouldn’t have! I have come to the conclusion that all Thai restaurants serve old sticky rice that has been frozen or refrigerated to save time and money. It does not taste good at all!!!!!! It’s hard and inedible really. I was extremely disappointed but not surprised. 😔
Other than that, the red curry was divine. It hit the spot. It was a pretty small portion for $15 but it filled me up and I am satisfied.
Would I come here again? Probably not. It’s out of the way for me and not in my neighborhood but if you are nearby come try it out, just don’t get sticky rice! 👍
Really tasty Thai food. We ate in and had great service in a pleasant restaurant. Lots of choices on the menu and something for everyone.
Awesome Pad Thai and Yellow Curry.

The service was phenomenal! Food was brought out fast and hitting the spot. My wife and I have found our new favorite Thai restaurant close to home. 100% recommend!
I love this place it is my go too for Thai. the owners are super sweet.
Awesome staff and delicious food. My first taste of Thai food was from here and I'm hooked ❤️
It was my first time here. The steak that I ordered was very flavorful and the vegetables went very well with it. It was a light meal, exactly what I was looking for. I can't wait to come back and try other menu items!
👌
JP Thai Kitchen has the best Thai cuisine in the S. Land Park area. Always fresh and always really delicious. The staff are always on top of it and very friendly.
Fave! 🍛 Curry
Quaint, peaceful, and delightful team. Enjoyed the meal. Gotta get signature crab rice dish. Excellent.
Today was my family’s first time visiting JP Thai Kitchen. I used the reviews to decide where we would stop, so I thought I should contribute after our meal.
We were greeted by friendly staff members as we walked in, so great start. The tables and floors were all very clean. The meal was served family style. We had the fresh spring rolls with shrimp, chicken satay, cucumber salad, wonton soup, crab fried rice and chicken pad Thai. Everything was made to order, so they were able to leave egg out of the Pad Thai and the onions out of the crab fried rice when we requested. My daughters shared the sticky rice with mango but I was entirely too full for dessert. Everything we ate was EXCELLENT, though we all ended up having different favorites. I feel that the portion sizes were good, the quality was excellent, the prices very fair for what we got. As we left we were already talking about how much we look forward to going back again. I’d have trouble ordering something new because I liked what we had so much. You should definitely consider trying JP’s.
Thai Basil Chicken is wonderful.
The best Pad See Ew and Wings I’ve had in while. I can’t wait to order more things and try them out.
Our go to Thai spot. Consistently delicious, quick, good spiciness and great mild plates for the kids. The whole steamed fish 🐟 is tasty.
Best Thai food intown seriously I drove all the way from Rio Linda just to try the pumpkin Curry my brother Jason recommended it to me
Always consistent with the food and the prices and portions are very good.
The drunken noodles and yellow curry were amazing! The ‘hot’ spice level for the drunken noodles were perfect for those who like spicy. One of the best Thai places in Sac.
The restaurant was extremely noisy. Several men were gambling.
JP Thai is one of the best Thai restaurants in Sacramento. The food is made fresh to order, the food is flavorful, and the staff are always very friendly. The restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of South Sacramento. There is plenty of parking spaces and I felt safe in the area. I highly recommend this business if you want a taste of Thailand.
Hole in the wall spot that you would barely notice. But wow! Came here for lunch, and every dish we had was incredible. Prompt service and very kind staff! Definitely recommend!!
Best Thai in Sac
I really love Thai food, often cook myself. My bf showed me this hidden gem! I really liked Tom Yam and Pad Thai, recommend trying it. The staff is friendly, the portions are large and the price is fine
Our favorite Thai restaurant in Sacramento. Their flavors are spot on and the veggies are always cooked perfectly!
We recently ordered takeout from here for us and friends. We ordered the basil fried rice with chicken, pineapple fried rice, pad Thai with prawns, chicken larb, and mixed veggies with chicken. Everyone was raving about how fantastic everything was! The staff is friendly, and service was fast. This is definitely our new favorite spot for Thai food!!
Tried for the first time, it was great 👍
Beautiful inside. Server was the sweetest ever! She was helpful and very patient. Pricing was very reasonable and the food was fresh as well as delicious. My kids loved everything. The sauces were spot on. Thank you for a great lunch 😋
Their sweet and sour, avocado curry, and yellow curry were amazing. Clean floors and tables, atmosphere was great!
Awesome thai food!
Incredibly helpful, genuine, friendly staff who are eager to please. Food was delicious and fresh.
Our favorite Thai place in Sac, then and till today! And so far, we haven't found another Thai place that can beat JP! Best Thai food and awesome service. Our fav the best papaya salad, pepper garlic chicken, spicy fish, red curry อาหารไทยที่ดีที่สุดในประเทศ
All the curry dishes they have are excellent. They are very consistent with their taste and is always an enjoyable and delicious to get take out here.
oh, I got to tell you, it was perfect. Perfect. Everything, down to the last minute details.
This place is such a hidden gem, the food is amazing!! I was looking for a good place to eat during a short visit to Sacramento and we chose this place on a whim because of it's high rating. The atmosphere inside is lovely and the servers are nice. I was surprised that we were the only customers inside everytime we went. We ended up eating here 3 days in a row because we got addicted!! The pad thai was my favorite, it's so saucey and delicious.
My goto Thai restaurant in Sac
The quality of food and service is always excellent here.
The Thai food here was soooo good! All the food had a very comfortable amount of heat without being overpowering! Food is tasty!! No wonder there are long wait lines cause they are on high demand
Boring food.
Nice spot for Thai food. I had their red curry, it's very savory and just the right amount of spiciness. Portion size was perfect as well. Would be nice if their interior was a little more cozy and vibey, but it was pretty decent. Would recommend for sure.
Lives up to the hype. The food is really good. The seafood tom kha was amazing and the mango sticky rice was to die for.
This is my favorite Thai place in Sacramento. Unfortunately, they hiked their prices up recently. I can barely afford to eat there anymore. :-(
food was ok but pricey. No fried banana with ice cream. I was disappointed. I was going to eat there again but I see they have removed the dessert from the Menu. Sad about this.
Hidden gem with delicious Thai food. Fast and friendly service.
Favorite Thai food in Sac....avocado green curry and Pad Thai are so tasty! Portions are huge!
I love everything about this place! The food is always great, along with the fast and friendly service. The spotless space is warm and inviting and the restaurant floor is pleasantly un-crowded and seems created to accomodate dinner and dancing once upon a time. Their prices are super reasonable for such ample plates of fresh and wonderfully prepared, delicious food and the menu is extensive with 4 curry bases for their many wonderful curried dishes and like those and everything else on the menu their noodles and fried rices are all wonderful.
It's a handy location too -across Freeport Blvd. from the south end of Executuve Airport and they have plenty of easy parking.
Try this place once and I think you will go there again and again.
Order there for fast delucious take-out too.
Ordered a salad, took 30 min to make and was made not to order
It's a regular spot for us. Delicious Thai food, good spice level and easy. One tip, spicy tofu is best with sauce on the side so it is still crispy when you get home and eat it.
This is the best Thai food I think I've ever had!!!! We got several dishes to share and literally everything was awesome. The service was perfect too!!! I will be coming back here often for sure!!!!!!
Best Tom Ka soup!!!! Great service, our whol meal was absolutely delicious!!
We dined here approx 3 weeks ago but I forgot to write a review until I passed it last night.
So the food was very good. We ordered 4 dishes and they all tasted amazing.
My only complaint is that the portion size is very small…and I mean very small.
Extremely delicious service was impeccable
Don't let the exterior fool you: the food is yummy and is worth a visit. We shared an order of tofu fresh rolls and a chicken-ginger lunch plate. Both were tasty and affordable. The restaurant itself is super-casual. They also do take-away orders.
taste good, portion is big
Pad thai hands down the best in town. Red pumpkin curry is really delicious, all well balanced flavors.
Reasonable prices for lunch menu. Food was good!!!
Great place to eat at in the South Sacramento area and Great customer service.
We love this place! We get takeout from here fairly often and have never been disappointed. The drunken noodles and the green curry are our favorites. The staff is very friendly and easy to order with!
Not a good experience.
Amazingly helpful staff. They went above and beyond. Took a huge box out to our car and offered it without being asked. Food was VERY good! Great place!
Amazing taste, fair prices, great customer service
Always a pleasure dining here. It's been a while but I'm happy to share that the flavors are still robust and food is still delightful. We had the papaya salad Lao style. Drunken noodles with chicken. Red Curry with seafood combination with a side of rice. The two of us were stuffed.
No more happy hour available due to the pandemic but the food portions are plenty and price is affordable. Competitive with other Thai restaurants. Support local because this husband and wife duo knows where the flavors at!
Great Tom yum
Great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices.
Golden wrapped prawns I highly recommend
I love this place, food is always good never had a bad experience.
Large portions, wonderful flavors, definitely a top Thai food spot in Sacramento!
Been coming here for years with the family. Best Thai food in Sacramento and always polite.
This was our first experience with this restaurant. We ordered online and then I went and picked up the order. We put zero for the level of spice/,heat we wanted. When I got the food back to our place, we discovered that the food was too spicy for us to even eat. Even after I send it with all of the rice, with half a head of cauliflower, and a mango, it was still too hot! Also, I ordered the vegetarian egg rolls and they gave me chicken instead. When I called them about it, we were too tired to go back and get the right thing so I asked the woman if she would please credit our credit card. She said because I ordered online I had to get in touch with the agency with the online shopping cart. She wanted me to have a big hassle for the mistake they made! That is not okay. Finally she offered to do it herself. I don't know if they did ever credit our card back for the error. The food was delicious if you can stand things 5x spicier than you want them. They got nothing right in our order. Very disappointed as I was looking forward to the meal.
Food is delicious as always. Flavorful! Fresh ingredients! Hostess are always friendly and inviting. Our favorite spot!
Some of the best, mouth watering Thai food I have had in a while. Service was amazing, the wonderful woman at the front even called me to double check and make sure I was still coming to pick up my order. (it was getting late, and I was late myself) so sweet of her! The papaya salad was super delicious, not super runny and you can tell it was made super fresh!! Love this place and would be happy to come again.
Excellent food and excellent service. Great neighborhood spot. Even if we moved from the neighborhood, we would be back time and time again.
Love this place! The food is always delicious!
Dined in with my friends and had a delicious meal. I ordered the Mango prawns in curry and it had just the right combination of flavor and heat. The staff were warm and friendly and the restaurant was clean with a welcoming vibe. Staff wore masks and used hand sanitizer. Our food came out relatively quickly and the portions were generous.
This spot is SO damn good. Three thumbs up from a guy who worked at a thai restaurant for years.
Avocado Green Curry is the perfect balance between sweet and savory. That added fatty avocado factor hits this dish out of the ballpark.
Everything was authentic, fresh, large portions, with subtle twists on classic plates that seriously set JP Thai Kitchen apart from the rest.
We ordered the vegetarian Pad Thai and egg rolls, to go. The food was packaged nicely and the proportions (of the Pad Thai) were generous. I would return, and even try the restaurant for dine-in service!
Great place to eat! Brought my Sr. Mom, uncle, and aunt. Love the open floor space easy access for wheel chairs. Delicious stuffed wings and duck soup!
My husband and I came here for a last minute dinner and they did not disappoint. Our server was super friendly and so patient with all the customers. She knew almost all the regulars that come in greeting them by name. The food is super delicious! We order pad thai and thai fried rice. Generous proportions at affordable prices. Definitely recommend to anyone in the neighborhood!
Drunken NOODLES MED SPICY ..YUM
Great food !!!!!! Must gO
Might be the best thai food in Sacramento. Their Panang Curry is incredible, I never order from here without getting it. The staff is so nice too, it's always a pleasure to come in, even for take out!
Good food, good service at a reasonable price, they will have indoor dining the middle of February after a deep deep cleaning so get ready.
Their boat noodle and curry are awesome.
Amazing restaurant! Always very nice and the food is amazing.
Tonight was my first time ordering from this place. I normally order from SiamPa but when I called at 635 pm, they did not pick up so I went to try out this hidden corner place. I ordered angel wings, panang curry, drunken noodles, egg rolls and Thai ice tea. Everything is on point. Panang curry though, I have to say is the best, far above par, when compared to all the in town Thai restaurants. I'm going to become a regular after this. Also, the price was good. Paul
Awesome as always.
Delicious food and wonderful service and super fast pickup.
Tasty Thai food. Good portions
Good and Tasty food!!!
Good Thai food! They are really polite and doing well with covid restrictions. To go only, for now, but the food was still hot and fresh when I got home 15 minutes later. I had the curry lunch special and it didn't disappoint!
So friendly, and acomadating. The food is amazing.
Its in a not super great location but it's really good food and staff was prompt and polite when I went for my pickup
When it comes to Thai food I'm pretty basic. Pad thai and angel wings. And this place makes among the best I've had of both!
Friendly staff, great portions!
The food and service was very good..
Best thai food i ever had. Employees are super friendly there. Very good environment. My number one favorite place to be at.
A wonderful experience. Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food. Their crab fried rice is masse with real crab. Order the pad Thai noodles.
One of my fav Thai places. Reasonable prices and great food
This place is close to our house. I’m very picky about my drunken noodles but I always order it here. We go here a lot. Nice staff, clean place, nice atmosphere. Would recommend.
Very good food 👍 a little bit slow service,
Food is good, servers are nice... BUT Small business with only one person working all the tables, cash register, phones, and to-go orders makes for very slow service. Take out will work if you order way ahead of when you really want to eat.
Good food, friendly help. Restaurant is shares a small parking lot with a car repair, but you can park on the south side of the building if needed.
El mejor curry de Sacramento!!! JP es mi restaurante favorito
Delicious food and the place is very clean.
I LOVE THIS PLACE MY FAMILY & I LIVE GOING HERE. The food is AWESOME !!
Food was good
Food was good, service is very slow, only 1 other family in the restaurant and they had their food, waited a few minutes to have waitress take order, and then waited about 20 minutes to get our ck
Food is always excellent every time I eat there.
Tasty
Awesome Thai food!!
Excellent well prepared food!
Definitely on my places to return to.
This place is awesome!! Fresh Spring Rolls are a must!
