Here at Thai Smile, we are dedicated to providing premium, hand-crafted Thai cuisine. We do this by using authentic Thai spices and herbs; as well as fresh, crisp vegetables, which are delivered daily to our kitchen. (We do not use MSG in our recipes.) For our seafood and meat dishes, we use only choice cuts from those who meet the highest standards. This is possible because we make use of Thai markets in both Los Angeles and Bangkok, where we carefully select ingredients to ensure the best quality.
I read multiple reviews, particularly the negative ones, before choosing this Thai restaurant. The only comments that was valid was that there wasn’t that much protein in some of the dishes and there wasn’t a bit of a lag in taking our order, but after that, everything happened in a timely manner.
The menu was the most diverse of the Thai restaurants I looked at and offered much more than the most common dishes. Everything we had was delicious. The portions were all large. My dining partner couldn’t finish the basil duck. I’m from NYC and given that a lot of people come to Palm Springs from LA, I expected NY prices and that’s what I found. I would definitely come back.
We had already started the appetizers when I took the photos. There were 4 chicken egg rolls and 5 shrimp blankets that were served.
We loved every single dish that we ordered here. We got the pad see ew, vegetable soup and curry. They had a reasonable number of vegetarian options!
The food was quick to come out despite the restaurant being busy. Usually the wait time can be pretty long during busy times so call and check before you go. There’s street parking in the block.
Absolutely delish!! Ranked up there with my favorite Thai restaurant back home .
Pad sew was amazing...green curry has bell peppers and I wasn't use to that but a nice change. Garlic chicken 👍🏽👍🏽. Frosty mug cold beers 🍻. Nice and fast service. A/C worked well. Outdoor patio dining. What appeared to be a full bar.
I'd absolutely come back.
Overall we had a good meal and if we lived in the area I would come back due to the really good lunch special. Their lunch special includes an ice tea, satay salad or soup, rice and a main dish for $18 which is a pretty good deal.
We tried both the salad and soup which were actually fantastic. Great flavour and being complimentary big enough. For the main we tried Kung Pao chicken and the infernal noodle with beef. Both dishes were good but not remarkable. The spice level on the menu for the infernal noodle is marked as a 3 but it was very mild. If you like spicy and can handle Sichuan food then you won't find this spicy at all so ask for extra spicy. The service was great friendly and quick.
We came in for the day to visit, and Thai Smile was recommended by one of the city's security guards. We are happy we did! Great view, amazing food with great flavors, and the staff were very pleasant! We definitely recommend coming here if you have an appetite for Thai food!
Seeing the owner as Thai, I had an expectation that food would be decent. The queue was an hour and my conclusion after I paid was I wouldn't come back or recommend. The tom yum soup was cold and didn't taste anything like it. I requested the soup to be heated again but we left a lot because it's not very nice. The beef salad was uneatable. The beef was so like rubber. I guess it's a tourist destination so people won't come back or it's just me, been there done that and tried so many.
The appetizers set the tone, and unfortunately, the Kanom Jip (steamed dumplings) missed the mark—flavors were off, and I wouldn’t recommend it. However, the main courses redeemed the meal. The Red Curry with Chicken was flavorful and rich, the Tom Kha Gai (coconut soup) hit all the right tangy notes, and the Drunken Flat Rice Noodles were perfectly spiced and satisfying. Dessert was a letdown—while the sticky rice was good, the mango was overly sour, and the dish felt overpriced. Mixed experience overall, with standout mains but room for improvement elsewhere.
Such amazing food and staff was wonderful as well
The food is excellent, the staff are great and it’s a cozy local restaurant!
Comfort food!! I have been here several times. One of my favorite staples
Food was great!
We've been here before. Our 2nd time here.
Our server SERGIO was outstanding!
Knowledgeable, flexible, friendly and had great suggestions. We appreciated that!
Great vibe at this establishment. We sat outside. They also have a full service bar serving delicious drinks!!
Pad Thai was excellent
La cuisine est ok. Niveau fast food pour de la nourriture thai. Rien de surprenant. Le décore intérieur est l'équivalent d'une cafétéria avec un meilleurs éclairages. Le service était correcte, sans defaut n'y sans qualité particulire.
I love Thai food. I was so looking forward to eating some good Thai when I got off of work. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai. Everywhere I go when I get chicken Pad Thai it always tastes amazing. I get to this place and they charged me over $30 for a plate of pad thai. I mentioned that it's very expensive normally, and they say nothing. The food look delicious. The first bite I taste flavorless chicken and noodles. I then try to add some of their lame chili, and it did not make it any better. I don't understand how this plays has such a high rating. This Thai food is the worst Thai food I've ever had. There is absolutely zero flavor in this. I don't understand how they are in business
The food was fresh and excellent the server was very accommodating
Best Thai food I’ve had in my opinion. Service was amazing, even for a busy Saturday. Bartender made my friends really great drinks (homemade gin infused with Thai basil) my favorite is the Fish Shu Shee but it’s all very good. Ooh! You have to have the pineapple fried rice. Amazing experience !
Hostess is rude and does not treat people equally. You asked me to give you details. Last summer I was visiting your restaurant with my daughter and wife. We all like your food and visit when we are in Palm Springs. We came in the hostess asked us to wait to be seated. More people came after us she asked them to wait. Later she started seating them as the restaurant had open space. She took three couples before us to seat. I complained as she was taking next couple to seat. The couple told the hostess they were here before us. I told the hostess you can seat them but next is our turn we were here first and I asked her why she kept bypassing us. Hostess after seating them came back and told us to leave the restaurant. She told us you are not welcome here. I have my wife and daughter as witness.
Some of the best yellow curry I have had! The teriyaki chicken, and chicken satay were really good too! We were told 20-30 minutes for our takeout order and it was ready in 18. Definitely recommend!

My fav Thai place in my Palm Springs. I've never had a bad dish. I've bought countless friends here and only have had one bad experience where we arrived towards the end of lunch and the server rushed us so that we would eat and settle before their shift ended.
Franchement une cuisine asiatique très bonne je recommande et j'y retournerai.
This poplar Thai restaurant has a large menu, plenty of tables and outdoor seating. The food is plentiful and the service is excellent. You will not be disappointed.
Excellent thai... everything is delicious here. However, tonight on 1-9-25 I ordered medium spiced green papaya salad and they gave me mild. I ordered Mild plus initially and I said I eat here all the time and have gotten lucky in the past with getting mild plus. But tonight only mild or medium...no in between
Tasty but very small and very expensive portions
Seeing the owner as Thai, I had an expectation that food would be decent. The queue was an hour and my conclusion after I paid was I wouldn't come back or recommend. Very nice staff food is very high quality and tasty it came out within 15 minuets that we ordered it The dumplings and fried rice are very good
Food is very delicious. Not very long waiting but the speed of the food is quite slow. Considering it’s the peek season it is expected.
Food was okay, not as flavorful as I’d hopped. Ginger chicken and glass noodles were very good. Pad Thai was mid.
The appetizers set the tone, and unfortunately, the Kanom Jip (steamed dumplings) missed the mark—flavors were off, and I wouldn’t recommend it. However, the main courses redeemed the meal. My kids aren’t into Thai food but me and wife are… everything we ordered was excellent and the service was too!… highly recommend but a little on the pricey side compared to almost same quality back home in El Paso…
We went on Christmas day and had a great meal. Pad see ew, fried rice and the som tam was very good ! Special shout out to Paul (I think)he was very friendly and super helpful.
This used to be my favorite restaurant for many years. I still like it but in the past year or so, the quality of food and service has diminished a bit. Tonight I ordered my favorite dish, Infernal Noodles and I asked for it "Thai spicy." When it was served, it looked dry. And after tasting it, it was not like the other dozens of times I had it. Plus the heat level was not as requested.
After waiting to get my server's attention while they sat at the bar chatting with the other staff, I told her about the lackluster flavor and dryness. She took it back to have the kitchen redo it. It was a little better but just wasn't the same. I then remembered the last time I had it a few months ago, it too wasn't as good as it previously was.
When we were done with our entrees, one worker took our dishes and the server gave us the check without even bothering to ask us if we wanted dessert which we were going to. But at this point i felt like they just wanted us to leave, and the experience left a bad taste so we just paid and left.
We ordered pad Thai, fried rice, Tom yum shrimp, roast honey duck, yellow curry chicken, chicken satay, fried banana&ice cream, mango sticky rice. The yellow curry was a delight! Very tasty, creamy, and full of the coconut milk aroma. This is the dish that I would definitely go back for. All other dishes were very good except the Tom tum soup. It’s overly sour and has nothing to do with the Tom yum soup that I had in Thailand. To be fair, the shrimp was of decent quality, just the flavor was not as good as I expected.
Visiting Palm Springs and was looking for some Thai food. Found this place and was glad I stepped in. Ordered some Pad Prik King. Passed great.
Love the lunch specials here. The food is always amazing. The staff is always friendly. The sweet and sour soup is my favorite. The curry is delicious and a must try.
One of my favourite places to go for a quick lunch. Good food. Friendly staff. Lunch special is a great deal.
A few tasty GF options as well.
Amazing experience the staff was so friendly and the food was so good, can’t think of a better Thai..m I’ve had eating out.
Very good food, they had veg base curries incase anyone’s looking. The service was fast, staff courteous and food very tasty.
The worst service in the world. Never go there ever. We were 28 people for dinner. He said we are accommated. But after 30 minutes of waiting for order he asked us to leave the place. It is a forcefully push out.
Sus, would give 0.
Was not able to handle a large group.
Disappointed.
Delicious food & comfortable setting with a very nice staff.
I had the yellow curry, was good!
Excellent menu selection.
The food quality is very high and the preparation is excellent.
Extremely overpriced for the quality and quantity. Took an order to go only to see that 1/2 the order was two large pieces of cabbage, not seasoned, not cut up in manageable pieces. This was supposed to be a papaya salad with shrimp. For $20 I expected the container to be full of papaya salad.
Always had gpod experience eating here
Server was great. Came here all the way from the Philadelphia area but I have to say I would never come back. I came here to celebrate my aunts 55th birthday. The server was nice but however the manager had the server tell us that we could not be served alcohol we never caused a problem or a scene we had 2 drinks each in our party of 5 prior to arriving to this establishment. We were excited to try this restaurant. While we tipped well but the Manager should’ve came out and told us why we couldn’t be served alcohol. We ate our meal, which was good for the most part besides the undercooked vegetables. We assured the server that it was not his fault why we were dissatisfied. We asked to speak to the manager When he came out, he didn’t seem to care on Why we were upset that we couldn’t be served. There’s explanation wise that we appear intoxicated, which we weren’t. We were a little loud, but that’s expected during a birthday Celebration. We had used uber to get to the establishment. The manager was very smug Didn’t seem to care about our concern or the concern about his waiter
I had an excellent visit to Thai Smile while visiting Palm Springs for the first time. Everyone was very friendly! There are so many great menu options, and their lunch combo was a great deal.
The tea was fantastic, I went with the chicken and mushroom hot and sour soup, and it was the best hot and sour soup I've had!
I ordered Prik Khing and it was delicious as well. I would have been good with it being a bit spicier, but it had a great flavor. The service was super speedy as well.
It's definitely an amazing lunch spot and a great value for all that you get!
This was possibly the worst (and most bland) Thai food I’ve eaten. Everything was just off, and it lacked all flavour and spice. I will admittedly say I crave flavour and spice, and their “hot” was at best 1/5 on a heat scale. On top of that, our server wouldn’t write down our order and we had to repeat it several times (just write it down; memorizing it doesn’t impress me), and asked us more times if they “got it right” than “if the food was good”.
Overall not a great dining experience. Make the food more authentic and flavourful and I’d consider returning.
Reliable casual place for a decent meal in downtown PS
The spicy friedrice and pineapple friedrice lacked any sort of flavour. We had to send back the lettuce wraps because the filling seemed sour. All the veggies used in the dishes had a taste of something going bad. Overall a big disappointment.
I love this place but fair warning about to-go orders. We had four of us wanting to order food. Instead of hanging up the phone and having to call again we just decided to pass the phone around. I ordered my food first and explained we wanted to place four orders. Once I passed the phone and my sister started to order the receptionist said we can only do two orders at a time. My sister said that's fine, "I'm going to hang up and call again to place my order." Which is exactly what she did and so did the following members of our party. We went to get our food and the reception said there were only two orders. She canceled the other one stating it was due to us hung up. We corrected her and told her that we placed the order and she told us we can't do more than two. So we said that was fine and then hang up the phone. She never apologized for the mixed communication or canceling the order. I am chalking it up to her being young and inexperienced. Now we are having to wait an additional 15 minutes just for the other order. So be warned you can only order two orders at once. Don't make the same mistake we did and then have everybody else's food get cold.
We came in for the day to visit, and Thai Smile was recommended by one of the city's security guards. We are happy we did! Great view, amazing food with great flavors, and the staff were very pleasant! We definitely recommend coming here if you have an appetite for Thai food!
Super lunch deal mit zuckerfreiem Icetea, Salat und Hauptgericht für 18 Dollar. Dazu sehr lecker und super freundliches Personal 🙏🏻
Always a place to enjoy a nice meal. Never a problem. Great staff.
After long waiting for our orders, we found the staff unresponsive and rude to others costumers (talking in Spanish while they were cleaning a table on the patio area next to us, someone of my crew speak Spanish and understood that the staff called VIEJO LOCO/ CRAZY to a client while laughing to her request) Additionally, my dish was incorrect. The lack of attention to customers made the experience frustrating.
VISIT 10-11-24
We ordered for pick up. The food was so delicious! A drink was missing, after we the stuff, we received an extra drink! Excellent service.
Thai smile the best place to eat I love it
I read multiple reviews, particularly the negative ones, before choosing this Thai restaurant.
We had already started the appetizers when I took the photos. There were 4 chicken egg rolls and 5 shrimp blankets that were served.
The Pad Thai was nothing even close to authentic. It tasted like they put 1000 Island dressing in it ($25!) My other dish was a papaya salad that was 80% big hunks of raw cabbage ($20). The food is horrifically terrible. The server was friendly but did not bother to ask us why our food was uneaten. Ripoff tourist trap. AVOID. This was removed somehow so reposting.
Guter Durchschnitt
My personal favorite lunch is the red curry with chicken. Lunch includes iced tea and soup or salad, I always upgrade to Thai iced tea, and the salad dressing is delicious.
I can't imagine how this place has such high reviews, it's a joke. It's like a diner that converted to Asian food. Not a single Asian person working or eating there. Food was awful avoid at all costs
Food is soooooo awesome, try the fried tofu appetizer, great staff, nice atmosphere
It was freaking nomnomnom. Loved the food and the ambiance
Fantastic duck, great service. Food came out quick. Could just be a little cleaner. But I will be returning regardless. Great place
Five star
Basic Thai food to go, wayyyyyy over priced. Tourist town price. Payed over $90 for just a few dishes as a selection. In the Bay Area (which is totally expensive) I’d spend at best upwards $60, for the same food and it’s better!
This is our third time going there
Food is always good and good vibe..
Thank you
Decent Thai food for the price. But the waitress was cold and dismissive. She made our dining experience a very negative one
Some of my favorite fried rice anywhere
Thai smile rates as one of the best in PS so far. Great staff and good food.
most restaurants in PS are closed when we were there in a wednesday
good thing this restaurant was open and was able to accommodate our family and we were able to have decent thai food
we had tom yum shrimp, pad see ew noodles (good!), duck shoo shee (good!), kanom jip dumplings (can skip this), lettuce wrap, beef masaman curry (good!), luscious duckling (good!)
Birthday Dinner with my brother from another mother. Truly thankful for the connection made in college that has lasted a lifetime. Post College and we still meet regularly just to catch up grab a bite and celebrate with each other. Michelle, Kevin and Josh mean the world to me. The photos couldn't tell it all... However they do capture memories that will last a lifetime. Cheers to dinner at Thai Smile!!!
I think my expectations were a little high in coming to Thai Smile. Pineapple fried rice was a little mushy, service was slow, atmosphere needs a little bit of work in cleanliness.
Tutto bene!!!
Always on point. Top 5 thai in cali for me!
Excellente cuisine thaï avec des portions très généreuses
Leckeres Thai Food Essen. Empfehlenswert!
This food is some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Easily a fantastic choice.
Kung Pao chicken was great and so was the service.
Great place. Yummy food, everything's good. Also great for Business lunches.
Great food and workers
My absolute favorite place in downtown Palm Springs. The lunch specials are hard to beat. Great variety of food, my to-go lunch spot.
Damn!
Food was decent and service was quick.
Best thai food ive had in a while!
One of a few decent Thai restaurants in the entire Coachella valley in my opinion. Your mail could be either slowly relaxing or deliciously fast yet comforting
I stopped in hurry take out, Natatlie is great servers. Friendly and most of the time quick.
Everything is fine. Great food and a comfortable atmosphere.
Don’t even think about going anywhere else! THIS IS THE PLACE!!! One of my favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. We’ve been visiting Thai Smile for twenty years (first at the old location, and now here at the new place). Highly recommend going at lunch for their lunch special. It is very affordable and includes Thai iced-tea, Tom yum soup or Peanut-dressing salad, along with a main entree. We like the Pad Thai, Red Curry Chicken, Hot Basil Beef, and the Red Mountain Chicken… but EVERYTHING here is amazing! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOIBTED. You can thank me later 😉
We ordered the teriyaki chicken and it seemed kinda dry to me, and a bit too sweet. Almost like it was a day old.
Love Thai smile good food good service
I stopped by Thai Smile in Palm Springs and had a decent dining experience. The noodles and Thai curry were definite highlights - flavorful and cooked to perfection. The curry had a nice balance of spices and a rich, creamy sauce.
However, the soup was a letdown. It lacked depth and flavor, and the broth was quite bland. It didn't live up to the standard set by the noodles and curry.
Service was friendly, but not overly attentive. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Overall, Thai Smile is a solid option for Thai food in Palm Springs, but not without its inconsistencies. Worth a visit for the noodles and curry, but maybe skip the soup. 3 stars from me!
Good luck trying to get a hold of someone on the phone. Called throughout the hour and no one picks up. I finally got in and the host is just leaning against the desk doing nothing. I stared hard at the phone to see if it was unplugged or they just ignore it…
Many mixed reviews for this restaurant. This one is on my occasional list.
I LOVE LOVE Thai food and we’re lucky to have a few options in the valley. I usually come here if I’m downtown and want solid Thai food.
I LOVE their Papaya salad and their Tom Yum soup. My husband loves the Pad Thai.
Try it out, you won’t be disappointed!
Thai Smile made me smile. Delicious!
The food was ok, it's a little too much sweeter than what I have expected and at the end the lady waiter just switched my credit card with someone else's card luckily the other customers where next to us
Great food. Excellent price.
Smile
Pretty good thai food
Excellent restaurant thaï. Très bonne cuisine.
Très copieux. Prendre un plat pour deux.
Really good pad Thai. Nice spot, close to everything. I recommend this place.
Best thai food I've ever eaten. 😋 loved the tea
Very sad. No more yum woon sen..
Excellent food and great place for some great Thai cuisine. Must try when coming through Palm Springs. Try the yellow curry. By far the best I've had.
Good
Food was really great! We had the Red Curry and Red Mountain. Great flavors.
Great food! I’m really picky about my Thai. Since I’m traveling, I was worried if I’d find a good restaurant.
Really good food, and our server, Terri, was great. We ordered so many things, and she took our order by memory. There was one small mixup but she corrected it quickly. We couldn't have been happier with her service. This was probably some of the best Thai food we've had. The chicken in lemongrass appetizer, the mushu pork, and the pineapple rice were the table favorites. We were there on vacation, but if we ever come back we'll be eating at this restaurant again!
Our go to place for Thai in Palm Springs . Close to activities downtown also
I've been eating at Thai Smile since 1994, when they were at the old location. The food was delicious. Sadly, our food wasn't served hot, as it should be. It arrived barely warm. Eat on the patio and do some people watching. Palm Springs has lots of tourists and weirdos. Enjoy.
Great Thai food in downtown PS
Everything was very flavorful and the serving sizes were very generous! Will happy visit here again!
We dined with my colleagues at this restaurant on March 10, 2024. Due to the waitress's poor behavior and bad mood, we decided to leave only a 10% tip. I was surprised when checking my bank statement; she had applied an 18% tip!!! I do not recommend this restaurant.
Its possible it could have to do with the color of our skin: Me and a colleague are down in Palm Spring on a work trip for a conference and the restaurant was highly recommended to us by a local friend. During our lunch break we headed to Thai Smile with another acquaintance, we were three ladies in total.
We walked in a busboy served us iced tea, 10 minutes pass by and no one comes around to take our order nor ask if we needed anything. Meanwhile we are trying to make eye contact with restaurant staff while 5 paces from our table there is this gentleman who is a server, busy in conversation with two customers at the bar. There is no problem with that. The problem is that he sees us, but does not acknowledge our presence. Until a supervisor noticed that we wanted our order taken and until she told this server at the bar he deigned to come to take our order.
Then our food takes too long, but the place was not even busy to say that there is a reason for the service to slacken and foods to take longer than reasonable. The server mentioned above does not come to check on us, continues to be busy with other customers. A couple walk in the restaurant and sit near us and the server immediately leaves his conversation to take their order.
What is curious is that the couple at the bar and the couple that sat near us were both white people, meanwhile we were three women of color. Maybe he did not think we were as important customers as them.
Since the food was going to over 20 minutes from ordering and we needed to leave, and we had no update on our food. We left and let the manager know that his server was preferential to the other white customers compared to us. I may be wrong, but that is what it appeared. We left without or food and an a good portion of our time wasted.
Good food, great service! They have all the traditional meals you would expect from a Thai restaurant.
The hostess with the blue hair treated us badly after she tried to seat 3 of us at a table by the window. She laid our menus on the table. But, when we asked if we could have a booth instead. She led us to the back of the restaurant and rudely "threw" our menus on the table and walked away. Easter Sunday 2024.
Delicious thai, something different from the many Mexican options.
What a great service! The food was fantastic! Love this place and the vibe it has.
In a city with many types of Mexican cuisine, Thai was a welcone change ! They do not take reservations.
We had the following: vegetable spring rolls, Thai ice tea, tom yum soup, steam veggies, Thai smile fried rice and green curry. Spring rolls tasted like they were frozen from Costco, same for the steamed vegetables. Soup had flavorless. Green curry was overly sweet. Steamed rice was good though.
Lemongrass Chicken was delicious, especially the eggplant, and the moo shoo pork was unique (wrapped like an enchilada).
Yellow curry is great
我在这里点餐后等了一个小时 菜才上来
吃你的牛子吃
Food was good….we had pad thai, tofu vegetable curry and spring rolls
Everything was good….i won’t say it was excellent but it was good
Overall a good experience
Pad Thai, Pad See Ew are my staples. Plenty of each and most satisfying.
Conveniently located in heart of downtown. Free parking in the rear. Since we were there on a Monday, we opted for the lunch special. I ordered the Pas thai . The noodles were very orange instead of the brown taupe color. Not.many sprouts or veggies in it. There was 3 shrimps. The spring roll was fine. They did offer some hot sauces but not the Chilli oil. The food did not have any taste. The pad thai did not have that peanut paste coating the noodles.
The sweet and sour fish was less than spectacular. Service was good. They did not include gratuity but had suggestions.
