A fine-casual dining restaurant, serving a time capsule of traditional recipes with a modern presentation and classical twist inspired by Mother Tew who passed on her legacy of delicious cooking to her loved ones to carry on. We will be sharing a collection of traditional family recipes that meets the modern elegant style.
From a Luxury Award-Winning 5 Star Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, the Chef, and his experienced team presents their creations not only for your palate but also for your eyes while constantly keeping up with the evolving tastes without altering too much of our loving Mother Tew’s original recipes.
This place used to be called another restaurant but for the life of me, I cannot recall....anyways, food took a while to come out dish by dish. This was only the negative part, other than that, amazing flavor and aroma that excites the eyes and stomach. All the dishes has their own unique taste. Even dessert was decent, most places are cheap in quality, but our dishes were made with emphasis to make a lasting impression to remind you to cone back try other plates on your next visit.
This restaurant has taken the place of Thai Nakorn in Garden Grove. Being that it was Thai Nakorn there were some big shoes to fill. But fill them they did!
The servers are super friendly and greet you straight away. We asked what the popular dishes are and she was able to name several off the menu. We chose from her recommendations and were not disappointed.
The restaurant itself is large and spacious. Plenty of room to bring large gatherings. The restaurant was also very clean and neatly decorated.
The food. That’s what it’s all about. The food. I loved all the legit Thai food flavors as they transported me back to Thailand. Not only were their flavors spot on but the way they plate is a-mazing! I felt like I was eating art!
I understand why they names themselves “exquisite,” because they are! Run don’t walk and check them out!
I came here twice now and so far each experience has been very good. The staff has all been friendly and the atmosphere of there restaurant is very soothing inside. The drunken noodles I had were okay, but a bit too oily for my tastes. The coconut jelly dessert is very well made and very pretty, but the flavor is just okay. However, I love their take on mango sticky rice, which is visually stunning and it offers a wide array of textures and flavors to make for a well-remembered dessert. The dessert chef also came out to greet us and was very pleased customers enjoyed her work. When I go back next time I'll try some of their other savory dishes.
Mother Tew's Exquisite Thai Cuisine is an Asian Fusion Restaurant in Garden Grove. Yesterday my wife and I went there to eat dinner. They have a moderately large space where they can easily accommodate up to 60 or 70 people. They also have a medium-sized banquet hall where any social events can be arranged. The ambience of this place was cool, intimate, and romantic. The staff was nice and polite. However, we had both bad and good experiences. The only negative thing about this place was their service. Yesterday their service was super slow. We checked in at 7:55 PM and we had to wait around 10 minutes to order food. And then again, we waited around an hour to get food!!! When we asked them regarding their delayed service, they told us that they are understaffed, there’s a banquet and most of them are serving there (we were literally upset and about to leave the place but later changed our mind)!
This Thai place has a lot of positive things as well. They served one of the finest Thai Cuisine that we tried so far in Southern California. We ordered Shrimp Egg Rolls, Chicken Satay, Fried Rice with Chili, Basil & Chicken, Drunken Noodles with Beef, and Mango Sticky Rice. The food was amazingly fresh, delicious, decorated, and cooked with perfection! The meat (both Chicken and Beef) was well cooked, and the spice level was moderate. Previously I have eaten Thai food at a bunch of Thai places but most of the time I experience heartburn lately because of the spice but this time I didn’t have such experience. And last but not the least, their desserts are simply so good! We liked all the items we ordered but Mango Sticky Rice was the game changer. It was tantalizingly delicious and beautifully decorated. We later came to know that the Chef of this place used to work at a 5 Star Hotel, and he has already shown the sign of that delicacy through the food as well as the decoration. A big thumbs up to the Chef for his nice work. The price seems alright considering the quality, amount, and decoration of the food. Hopefully we will come back to this place again in near future expecting their service would be way better at that time!

"Thai Nakorn" which my family frequented for 5+ years has been replaced by Mother Tew's.
The dining room has been remodeled to look more elegant and the food followed suit, with the addition of garnishes of presumably edible flowers. They play overly loud pop EDM to accompany your meal, maybe to distract you from realizing that their portion sizes are noticeably smaller, and their prices now resemble modern fusion pop-up restaurants.
I wanted to give them a chance, but our family won't be back. Although the food all tastes decent, I still have a bitter taste in my mouth when I found out they charged $8 to add shrimp to my $16 pad thai that only had 3 shrimp.
Mother Tews in garden grove is elevating Thai cuisine with their stunning desserts and dishes. Their presentation is impeccable an portions are great to share. My favorite dish is their $25 fried fish with mango salad. Look at how big the fish is. It is fried perfectly light and crispy and topped off with a thai salad the combination is definitely a a must try. I got their beef tongue too. It is so goood. Thick cut and super tender and really yummy dipped in their spicy sauce. They also have stunning desserts. Presentation is amazing here and good for large parties.
I also tried their coconut soup and khao soi noodles also coconut milk based. I felt these were lacking in flavor.

Mother Tew’s is a authentic delicious new Thai restaurant in Garden Grove- right across from the Garden Grove Hospital.
The combination fried rice, chicken satay, shrimp rolls, the jumbo water prawns were the best dishes. Second favorite was chicken pad Thai wrapped in scrambled egg!! Mango sticky rice was absolutely perfect 🤩
Mother Tew opened a few weeks ago at this site which was closed for a while. Dishes are trying to be authentic Thai. Pad see ew was done quite good with wok smoke taste present. Tom yam Koong was a bit lacking in richness. I think they made it without the head on shrimp. The grilled tongue should have been cut smaller with more grill marks to bring out the beefy flavor. There is enough parking in front of the restaurant.
Food was boring!
I gave 5, but the restroom is 0
The food was very good, beautiful presentation. Exquisite taste. Great service!
Had lunch there this week. Sadly we were the only ones in the joint. Food was quite tasty and the atmosphere was nice.
Food is as good as it looks and it is plated beautifully.

Good food
Yummy food
Can I just say OMG, this place is freaking ridiculous!!!!! I don't even know where to start because I had such an amazing experience with the food and also the restaurant is just so beautiful. There's even a private room for small parties and I just want to have one just so we can use it!!!! I'm already thinking about when to come back and I've already convinced some friends at work to come here!!!
The chefs are from a famous hotel in Thailand and we are so lucky that they even came here to Orange County. This place will definitely start blowing up once a lot of people find out about it. I don't know exactly how long it's been around but I've been definitely been seeing it a lot on social media and it definitely got my attention and so happy I went because it was amazing here.
I went with some friends to celebrate the holidays and everything we ordered was so good but the highlights were the short rib curry because i'm obsessed with short ribs, the appetizer platter and every item on there was so yummy I could finish it myself, the desserts were IG-worthy and so delicious and refreshing. Another dish that was amazing was the duck with noodles. I don't know what noodles it was but it was so simple and light.
I definitely want to go back for their lunch specials, I heard it was only $14. Comes with appetizer, the entree, and a small dessert.
You need to check this place out, authentic Thai food and so beautiful in their presentation.
This spot BLEW UP on social media ever since it opened and I was so excited to finally get a chance to stop by. So if you haven't been, let me give you a quick lowdown.
They're famous for their presentation which is simply stunning, and each dish is so robust and full of flavor like your grandma made it just for you, you know?
There're gorgeous dishes like an appetizer sampler with crab pouches, shrimp egg rolls, and chicken satay that is served in a gilded birdcage.
I love their Pad Thai which comes with a HUGE dinosaur-looking river prawn, AND the noodles are wrapped in an egg blanket like a present waiting to be unwrapped. ;)
I prefer noodles, but other times, I love a good protein as my entree. They have so many options, like the Spicy fried pompano fish with herb sauce, and Green curry with beef tongue which pairs so well with rice, and THE BEST Grilled Thai ribeye steak salad.
And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, they bring out the Mango sticky rice which is such a classic, and this dessert called the Flower in Garden which is quite literally the poster child for "a work of art".
Thanks for reading! ^-^
This is the perfect Thai restaurant for a date night, bestie/girls/ friends night or to host a birthday/celebratory/ work dinner event!
Mother Tew’s has plenty of parking space, can host maybe up to 200 people! There’s plenty of tables and there’s even a separate room for bigger parties!
The aesthetic is very clean and very dreamy! There’s a tree, water and fire elements and I love how it was incorporated in the interior and the food!
The food is amazing! With all the flavors packed in all the food we ate, so surprised they do not use MSG! I mean all the umami! A lovely woman by the name of Chef Dao renders food she grew up eating from the heart and it shows in the dishes! I love this place and we will definitely be back!
What we got:
1 Drinks we got Thai Tea and Thai Coffee, the staples that go well with all the food!
2 Appetizers:
Chicken Satay- the kids’ favorite! The satay is really good with or without the sauces!
Shrimp egg rolls- perfectly deep fried egg rolls with shrimp inside are wonderful
Our Dinner choices:
Crab fried rice- Thai fried rice with crab is really tasty and has a good serving of crab that you can def taste in every bite!
Tom kha with shrimp- my favorite coconut soup, definitely warmed us up and didn’t disappoint!
Soft shell crab curry- soft shell with curry sauce served with thin vermicelli noodles is a must try if you love curry like me! Has the perfect kick and umami!
Crispy Duck leg in Tamarind sauce- the tamarind sauce complements the crispy duck leg well, honestly not a huge fan of duck but this changed me!
Grilled Beef with Thai grape sauce- the amazing grilled steak, with Thai grape sauce, the citrusy taste of the sauce goes really well with the steak.
The River Prawn Volcano- was the showstopper of the night! Served with inside a flaming volcano, these giant prawns are served with sweet corn and Chef’s secret sauce!
For desserts:
Both too pretty to eat, but sooo delicious!
Mango sticky rice- came with fresh cut mangoes, purple sweet rice, and mango sherbet and what popping boba! It’s literally and explosion of different textures going in your mouth! Surprisingly a good size that can be shared but I ate it all!
Ginkgo longan- with the coconut granita and jelly drenched in ginkgo longan juice, it was soo good for something that sounds so healthy and traditional!

Dishes tasted okay, but food is way too little per dish. They will automatic charge 18% service fees if you come as a family of 4 or 5 with infants, because they will count infants too. So BEWARE!!!
I came here twice now and so far each experience has been very good. The staff has all been friendly and the atmosphere of there restaurant is very soothing inside. I usually do not post but this is an exceptional case I feel like I had to. If I can give this place 0 stars I would.
The place has been updated. But same owner as previous Thai Nakorn. The menu has been updated
We ordered pad thai, satay skewers, pad se ew, mongo sticky rice, pineapple rice and tom yum seafood.
Pad thai tasted ok but with too much bean sprouts, we didn't finish it. I have to say the pad se ew tasted good. The pineapple rice was just meh. The servings are definitely smaller compared to before.
The tom yum soup was usually served with the fire in the middle to keep hot. But that is gone now and just served in a larger bowl. It seems not as much soup as before.
Mango sticky rice looked fancy smansy with addition of popping boba but you're just given 2 small ping-pong sized scoops of sweet rice. Popping boba? Why? Can we just get the traditional stuff.
You get 4 chicken satay skewers on an order. I didn't taste it but I heard it's not that great. In the plate, they added toasted bread. Why is that even there?
The menu is different, the food was underwhelming but the worse has got to be the price. $16 for ea item. And we were ordering the cheap stuff. It would have been fine except they kept adding on. They added $6 to tom yum soup to make it "seafood tom yum". Also for +$2 for pineapple rice and +$2 for the pad thai for adding chicken. And +$2 on the pad see ew for adding pork. +$3 for rice. I saw their curry pricing around low $30 so we avoided those.
I would have just shut up and chalked it up to inflation and paid. But when I got the check, they tacked on a 3% credit card fee and a 18% service charge. I was wondering if this is automatic gratuity(there were 6 of us). But they had another screen for tips. So definitely not.
I argued with the manager who definitely said it's a service charge and not tips. But later on flipped flopped when I became combative.
A bad experience definitely and a rip-off. We will be going somewhere else for Thai food.
Service is good, food is awesome. Delisious noodle, delicious fried rice, delicious tom yum soup. The shadow at the table is awesome.

Great taste and atmosphere is very inviting. Try the beef salad-tender-acidic-great presentation. Soft shell crab curry rich-flavorful. The Green curry taste how green curry should.
