Bright, relaxed eatery in a strip mall serving Thai specialties amid traditional decor.
Thai Chilli is a cozy local restaurant in Elk Grove with an extensive menu. I recently tried their Thai Noodle Soup and Lao Style Papaya Salad, but unfortunately, they weren’t to my taste. Both dishes leaned heavily on the sweeter side, and even their sriracha and chili oil lacked the spiciness I was hoping for—adding more only made the soup sweeter. I ended up requesting chopped Thai chili to get the heat I wanted. However, their service was exceptional, which is always a plus. While it didn’t suit my palate, it might be just right for you!
Every rime I have gone here I have gotten the best service. The waitress is so friendly and treats you like a friend/family. The whole staff is great. The food is out of this world delicious! I love the curry dishes. Exceptional flavor! This is probably my favorite restaurant!
Thai Chili was a delightful experience! We started with the tofu spring rolls, which were fresh and light. The rice paper was perfectly chewy, and the tofu paired wonderfully with the crisp veggies. The accompanying peanut sauce was a great addition, adding just the right amount of flavor.
For the main course, we had the drunken noodles, and they were fantastic! The noodles were perfectly cooked and had that great chewy texture. The dish was loaded with a variety of vegetables, giving it a nice crunch and freshness. The sauce was flavorful with just the right amount of heat, making every bite delicious.
Service was quick and friendly, making our dining experience even better. If you're craving some tasty Thai food, Thai Chili is definitely worth a visit!
When I get a chance to have lunch alone, I always try something that my family doesn’t like… so today’s choice was Thai Chili in Elk Grove. The pretty, flashy sign has always intrigued me, and as someone who lived in the Bay Area in college and ate a ton of Thai food, I always miss it.
The restaurant ambiance is nothing spectacular. But what that lacks, the food and service make up for. My green chicken curry (4/5 spicy) was very flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the Thai Tea was on point. My server was extremely attentive, and it seemed like many of the people dining there were regulars.
The green curry had a ton of basil and bamboo, which I really love… and my water glass was never empty. The prices are fair and the portions are large, I had plenty to take home for dinner.
They do a huge To Go business, and I imagine that if I’m craving Thai again, that’s the route I will go.
Got the Drunken Noodle plate which came with a small kick to it. Wasn't bad at all. Just the right amount for me personally. Also got Chicken Satay that came with I believe peanut sauce..? Anywho, overall I was quite satisfied. The service was good for the most part. No problem there, although I felt like the place was overall just a bit too dim. 😅
This is definitely my go-to place for Thai food all over Sacramento. Great flavor and friendly service.
Prices have gone up along with everyone else but they still provide a very Hardy portion. I'm a big eater and I can make two meals out of the yellow curry giving it a great value for the money.
I have tried many dishes here and everything is good. Some of my favorites are the yellow chicken curry, and the drunken noodles.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
The food was great! They have a huge menu, and you can choose your meat and the level of spiciness. The food is high quality and delicious. We got six different items for six people and really enjoyed sharing everything.
The system of ordering is really convenient and worked well. They have a QR code on the table that lets you not only see the menu, but also order right from your table. We grabbed a table outside and ordered this way, and got quick, friendly service. I'll definitely be back!
The food is amazing and the portions are enough for 2 days!
Server Didn't offer oil spices. Tropical fried rice was drier vs pineapple fried rice I normally get.
We've been here twice when visiting family in Sacramento. The curry is good enough, but not great. The chow-fun noodles are overcooked, soggy, falling apart, and too sweet. The pad prik khing is served with coconut yellow curry sauce, while I was expecting it to be pan-fried with chili garlic sauce and soy sauce. I wouldn't recommend this resto for those specific dishes and wouldn't come back.
Best Thai food in Elk Grove

Thai Garlic steak + Chicken Satay are my absolute favorite . I never get tired of this place. The food is always delicious. Highly recommend
Ordered red curry with two star and 1 star, yellow curry 2 & 1 star, all very flavorless. Veggie salad roll was flavorless but good portion size. Spicy eggplant was missing from the order. Will not return here.
I have been eating here for 14 years and lately I have noticed some bad choices made by the cook. My Drunken Noodle Beef was not so good tonight. The meat was dry and so tough you could not chew it which told me it was reheated and old meat It ruined my dinner and I will never order it again. If they think people won't know, think again. That is why I am posting this! I hope they read it. Don't let it happen again or I will never eat there again and I will make sure customers know what you do. I have photos but I can't seem to post them here. There are other sites where I will post them. This is Linda.
Little chilli in the building but it warmed up after we got our food. So so good!!!😉

Really good curry
The food sucks. I have tried the dish of Thailand, Pad thai, drunken noodle, and curry. All of it lacked a lot of flavor. It's very blan overall. Maybe it's just because I'm pregnant and my taste buds are off.....wait, I'm a guy and men can't get pregnant.
I’ll preface this post by saying that we loved Thai chili. When getting takeout this was usually one of our first choices. However this last experience was disappointing and I fairly leave reviews but I thought I had to post. We found a hair in our chowmein and didn’t think much of it, then we found another hair in our curry. Two hairs in two of our dishes. We stopped our meal and called Thai Chilli. They were polite and offered to recook our meal or get some credit on a future meal. However, anything less than an offer for a full refund felt wrong. So we declined their offer of more food or a credit and probably will have to find a new favorite spot for a while.
A great Thai place in Elk Grove. Staff is very friendly. Most typical dishes are great: Pad Thai, tom yum soup, drunken noodle, Pad see ew, curry, etc. The spicy levels are not to be taken lightly. I don't eat very spicy so level 1 and 2 are ok, but I cannot go beyond that. So if you don't eat too spicy, I recommend to not go to level 3 or above.
Have you ever been to Thai restaurant and they didn’t have rice? That is brown rice? When you are out of brown rice, no one can go run and get some in your line of business? Plus you charge extra for rice with an entree? I can see charging extra for brown rice ( that you didn’t have) but extra for white rice?! Naw, that’s not good business. And the food was just average, it was not great. The dessert was good ! (Fried banana with ice cream and coconut sprinkles) Yummy.

On April 26/Friday I order on line Deep Fried rolls and Home style Garlic wings. Was Raining very hard. Grab my order. Got home did not get Garlic wings. Call them and they told me will credit my account. Still waiting for my 13.95 + tax to be credit. Call several times always get the run around. I also ask if I can pick my wings because I already pay. They say NO. If I want an order I have to pay Again. I will never go back. Plus I gave them a good Tip.
WOW! Best Thai place in town. I have tried a lot of Thai Restaurants but no one comes close to this Thai Chili location in Elk Grove. Hard to see from the main Elk Grove Blvd but please do look them up. You will not be disappointed. Their Holy Basil fried rice is absolutely delicious!

Good food
Reasonable price
Nice thai food.
Here's what you need to know: Clean restaurant with very attentive staff. Not the best Thai food I've had in the area, but it's good. We love Thai food and it's one of the few types of food that we actually go out to eat, because it's never as good at home. Anyway, what I noticed was the green curry was a little bland, maybe too much coconut milk. Not enough to subtract any stars, but was my observation. The atmosphere was good too, not too loud or crowded for conversation, yet they did a steady business, with lots of people that seemed to be regulars.
Waited for tea to arrive about 20 minutes... It was half a pot and lukewarm and super concentrated like if it was leftover. Waited another 20+ minutes and food wasn't served to us except to other people who came in way after us! 3 new tables that were cleared and occupied while we waited. Finally asked the waiter and he said he "forgot" to put order in but was doing it right away... We decided to leave. I guess it's for "known" or selective people only ...
The food was delicious. There were some good options that I haven't had at other Thai places. The service was great. We really enjoyed our meal and will be return customers.
Food was delicious, rather big portions! Not too much atmosphere but it was lunch! I'll be heading back there
Very tasty food.
All our choices were delicious, service was attentive, and portion sizes made for a great value.
I got the sriracha fried rice with beef, it was absolutely wonderful
Great selection of dishes. Drunken noodles very good. Steak dish was terrible. Needed sharp knife to cut thin strips and very tough to chew.
Best thai place in the area.

really good service but food is blend
Great Thai food , big portions , fast service . Great local restaurant . Highly recommended
Great Thai. Love the Pad See Ew! You gotta get the shrimp wonton Pad Thai asparagus but ask for Thai noodles. The dish is amazing.
great food
I ordered Drunken Noodles with spice level of 3 for pick up. My order was very good size, I actually had two meals from it. Great flavor and look forward to this being a go-go spot....recently tried a Thai place in DT Sac and it just didn't compare to Thai Chili whatsoever.
Love this place! Amazing food and great service!
We have been going here for years. Mostly take out because it's mostly packed. The food is amazing and the service is always good. Their Panang Curry and to die for
The food is great and the customer service us fast even though they were busy. The food flavors can be inconsistent when you come to order the same thing but overall still taste great!
I'm a decade long customer and the food has always been good.
But lately they've come to take their customers for granted. Lots of attitude when they mis-pack a take out order and don't even think about asking to move to another table.
Plus they jacked up their prices 50+%
Now they'll argue that costs have increased but an equally good Thai Restaurant in North Highlands House Of Thai Rice & Noodle has not. Just look at the price differences. Curries at Thai Chilli are $18, at Thai Rice and Noodle $11. Equal size and equal quality so one place is profiterring.
Love the food here! But now, eating Thai anywhere else is disappointing. 🤷♂️😅
If u r craving Thai food, this is the best one in town, their is extremely delicious and portion is great and the service is excellent. This is my favorite restaurant so far😋😋😋
We will definitely be going back there to eat.
Great Thai place and nice workers . Always packed
Portions are large enough for two people. Me and my family ordered alot thinking it was going to be small but we really could have shared two entrees among the 5 of us. Seafood combo Pad Thai was soooo good and oily. The calamari was lightly fried so its more of an airy/light appetizer. Order a to-go order over the phone or on app because the inside is small. They do have a cozy seating area by the front entrance. Great place for out of town travelers. Mom liked the garlic shrimp and veggies!
Delicious, hot food, no wait service at noon. Shrimp, chicken, coconut soup with lemongrass. Yum.
Food is delicious. Very friendly service. Would go again when I'm in the area
We use to eat here all the time but the food and service is so bad now and the food tastes horrible
It really didn't taste like it looked and will never order again.
Delicious food, nice people, good value.
Great food. They forgot my rice on my takeaway order.
Excellent Thai beef salad among other menu items that are delicious as well! Great Dessert selection. I recommend this place.
I asked for spicy they gave me white ppl type of spiciness like I couldn't handle it 😒
This is my go-to spot, especially for vegan options. The food, I must say, is really good!! The service was great. My food came out really fast, and my server was very attentive. The atmosphere is cool...the fan did give me a little chill, but nothing to complain about.
Came in a good time before the dinner rush, and it does get busy. They are also pretty busy with their to-go orders. Service was good, food tasted great, and order came out in a timely manner. Portions are very generous so the value is great. Some other Thai Restaurants we tried are Rao Thai and KB Thai Hut, and compared to those, Thai Chili is our go to #2 since it is close by. In my opinion we still prefer KB Thai Hut if you can go there, it is more flavorful and they customize their spiciness level.
Great customer service and great food. Never disappointed. Good amount of food for the money.
Great food! Everything we got on the menu was fantastic!
My go to for Thai food near my house. Great Panang Curry.
This is probably my least favorite Thai restaurant in Sacramento. I ordered by phone and went to pick up. Total was around $78. The food is bland and NOT authentic Thai food. As hungry as we were, we did not finish the food. It was that bad.
I believe the food is catered for the white people. If you’re Asian and want authentic Thai food, go somewhere else.
Excellent Thai food and cozy place with indoor and outdoor seating. The Food is the bomb.
This place was recommended as one of the best Thai restaurants in CA. I like layers of flavor and heat in my food. This was not the case here. The size of the dishes were on the small side for the price. The flavor was pretty good but nothing like I've had at other Thai restaurants. There was little heat and I had to add from the chili options for some heat. Some in our group had Thai tea and liked it. They were very good at checking in on us and refilling our water. The decor was a bit run down and sloppy construction was present in the booth we sat in. The parking lot is good sized but busy. I will probably not go back but if you're looking for a tame Thai food experience this may be the place to come.
I use to get Pad Thai from here all the time years ago, but moved away & had it again recently. We ordered a ton of takeout...chicken pad Thai, veggie pad Thai, chicken pineapple fried rice green curry & beef Panag curry. The only thing was that actually good was the beef Panag curry. Really nice staff & clean restaurant but the noodles in both pad Thai dishes were over cooked & the pineapple fried rice had raisens in it. Ok food, not great.
I ordered Spicy Noodle with Asparagus Chicken.
Not only is NOT SPICY , BUT SALTY SALTY SALTY --- I HAVE TO THROW AWAY MY LUNCH.
Golden bags ; chicken satay and pad Thai combo is my favorite.
Good food. Service is good too. Restaurant can be cleaner.
The shrimp curry was excellent
Thai chilli is one of my all time favorite places to eat at in Elk Grove. I love their Shrimp/Chicken yellow curry. I love this place.
We have not been this place for a long time. The appetizer fried calamari is yummy. We ordered yellow curry and pad thai with beef. The beef was too dry and hard. I gave up after chewing a couple times. And pad thai was too salty. I can only taste the sauce not the noodles. I will not order pad thai anymore. However, the yellow curry is good.
Great food and service. Will go there again!
Very good Thai food never had a bad meal
Good food, great service but place is to small.
I had the vegetarian pumpkin red curry, and my husband had yellow curry with chicken. We also shared a vegetarian salad roll. Everything was delicious, and those guys know how to hustle! Service was fast and friendly! It was a lot of food too! We will be back for more very soon!
Delicious food and prompt and pleasant service. Honestly you can’t go wrong here.
Customer service was great, the waitress was very helpful. My partner and I got the tom yum soup and the pad thai. Honestly nothing special. Not bad, but not good. The tom yum was really sour, that’s why I dislike the dish. The pad thai is sweet and sour, but mainly sour. The best thing that we got was the thai tea. The appearance of the place is unappealing. I sat on the booth, and the wall is pealing and filled with dirty stains.
Food was delicious and the service was great 😃
The meal is excellent here. This is the area's best Thai food, in my opinion. The noodle meals and soups are fantastic. I've only been twice, but I plan to return. Most importantly, they don't appear to employ MSG or other toxic substances. After eating, I feel fine and have no headaches.
Small, quiet restaurant. Clean area. We were first attracted when we in the parking lot and "What smells good"? We enjoyed the Pad, Won Ton soup, and a couple more dishes. We enjoyed things there and our leftovers.
Today, we had the Yellow chicken curry (not spicy), won ton soup, and shrimp Pad Thai.
Most dishes are set up and priced so you can choose meat. Also they have vegetarian options.
Love the place. Can't beat the food and service are as good. Been there 4 times in the last 2 months
Not the best nor the worst. The beef noodle pho was ok. The pad thai was missing Chilli flakes. The Laos style papaya tastes more like Thai than Laos but was ok. And lastly the panang dish was the best of all the dish I ordered.
The food here is wonderful. This is the best Thai food I have had in the area. The soups and noodle dishes are awesome. I’ve only been twice and will be coming back. Above all they do not seem to use MSG or chemical ingredients. I feel good after dining and no headaches.
I would’ve give zero star but it’s not available. I had the worst experience and want to possibly sue them. I have dietary restrictions and cannot eat spicy. I asked for non-spicy green curry. They brought me the spicy one. I asked to have it remade but then they brought back the one I gave back to the server. I know it’s the same one because the bowl has the potato that has my bite mark. I asked them again to remake the second time. Then they brought back to me the same bowl with the same potato in it but only changed the curry to coconut cream. I asked the server why they didn’t remake a fresh one without the spicy. Her name is Parprucha. She said they don’t have curry that’s not spicy. And that I need to educate myself that Thai food is generally spicy. I told her, if they don’t have non-spicy option, why didn’t they tell me when I placed the order? She said she was not the one took the order and if I want to talk to the owner, I can call tomorrow before noon. This is the worst experience and service I received out of all the restaurant I’ve my entire life!
My family and I decided to try this place out today. We got seated and noticed there's rags on tables with no staff around. My children are 7, 5, 3, and 11 months so they are a little restless and needing lunch. Two other party's come in and get their drinks and orders taken. It's been well over 15 minutes and nobody has approached our table to get our orders. My wife and I decide to just walk out because we felt offended that they wouldn't approach us because we have young children with us. Even as we walked out none of the staff said anything or asked if there's something they could do. I literally felt like they didn't want us there and didn't have the courtesy to just ask us to leave. I hope someone helps these people to learn manners. To some it up don't come here with children they just decide to ignore you.
The restaurant was clean. The staff was helpful and courteous. The food was delicious best in Sacramento.
The real deal! Enjoy!
Nice service. But pobably the worst Thai food I ever had especially on the classic dishes. Super sour on their Larb and Papaya. Not much flavor or spice on those dishes. I don't think the cooks are from Southeast Asia ihmo. I like the local plaza though. 2 stars for good service.
The Rice plates are always tasty and made to order.
The food there are Magically Delicious!
Was looking for a spicy Thai chow mein. Found the level 5 spicy to be best to my liking though it could be spicier but the dish is delicious. Good portions, good prices. Have come more then once plan on continuing to come to try other dishes.
This restaurant has very good food at reasonable prices. Their menu has a wide variety of options both mild and spicy. I highly recommend this one.
Used PostMates to order online. I ordered brown rice, steam rice, garlic & pepper, rice noodle soup, and spicy Thai chow Mein. In total $48.85. The chow main had a rancid smell. Could not eat it. We called the restaurant for a refund and unfortunately since we’ve used a 3rd party app they were unwilling to refund me directly. I contacted PostMates via web chat (only way to contact them) and they could not help me. I attempted 4 times with them and they either ended the chat earlier without warning, used the excuse that their system is suddenly having ‘update’ issues or could not find my order because my order did not post to their system. I gave my order number to them in the chat but they still refused to help me and said to call back in 2-3 hours.
Conclusion: Thai Chili lost a customer for life for $15. They can thank PostMates service. I’m not seeking full refund or restaurant t credit. No excuses, if you have a customer that has a genuine reason to dispute service or food you’ve served then you should be responsible to resolve it immediately. The restaurant is responsible for contracting with a 3rd party delivery service that has poor customer service. I should not have to go through this frustration for $15.
Food was good, portions matched up with the price. Servers were very on top of things and took good care of us.
No AC. Hot and humid.
Noodles are overcooked. Spicy food is not spicy, per se. The spice mixture was fine.
Super good food and friendly staff.
One of the best yellow curry dishes I’ve ever had. A frequent customer.
We had a very delicious meal tonight. The spicy shrimp salad was so delicious. And my husband enjoyed the seafood combo basil stir fry.
Very fast and attentive staff, and the food is always some of the very finest Thai in the Sacramento area.
Get the yellow curry with the pan-fried breald it's the best I've had in California hands down
Big portions, tasty !
Customer service was great, but not the food. The quality and authenticity of the food was just not there! We have had homemade authentic Thai/Laos dishes from coworkers home and this doesn’t compare in flavor at all. We tried the chicken Lab salad with sticky rice, mango sticky rice. We asked for level 3 heat (spicy) had no heat at all. Also asked for fresh mint leaves on the side they gave us basil (we know the difference). Food wasn’t good in our opinion I’m sorry. Didn’t even compare to the best Lao/Thai restaurant in Stockton CA Green Papaya. They are way more authentic in flavor and spices used, like lemon grass, rice powder and everything is made to order. The food we got at Thai Chili Elk Grove came out super fast, which is also another a red flag.
Thai chili is one of my favorite Thai food spots in northern california. The menu is traditional Thai food and I love it!
It was about a decade since I had thai food. Payed 50 for the feast that filled my thai craving. Would go back. Ps the red curry takes me back, get it with Vietnamese french rolls, use as dip.
I can't find any place as good as this since I moved away I still drive half an hour just to have it. Other places don't make anything as good. Higher priced for a reason and it's actually a bit spicy if you ask for thai hot
Food was very good. A little learning curve for the language and face mask the waitress was speaking. Very nice waitress.
Great place to dine in with family. Clean and service is excellent... delicious food. Very large portion size...
Good food for a good price
The food was really good and the all the servers were really nice. Specifically there's a really buff, super hot guy that's a waiter there. After I was done eating, I wanted my waitress to go tell him that I thought he was hot but instead she told him I wanted to tell him something. So he comes over and I say "Hey I just wanted to say I think you're really attractive" but he just said "Thanks" and walked away. So I think either he's flat out not attracted to men at all, or he just wasn't attracted to me. Either way I'm pretty sure I made him super uncomfortable and that's really not how I wanted that to go down. So if that guy sees this and wants to talk, my Instagram is hellagaytorade if you wanna dm me.
Always our favorite local Thai place to eat. Pot stickers are a must. We usually go for the Cashew nut and chicken, but there are so many great options on the menu. Give them a try, I think you will be glad you did!
Omg !!! My husband found this place on google and we decided to go. Thai food is one of my favorites and it did not disappoint! Hats off to the chefs! Laos style papaya? Bomb !! Drunken noodles? Bomb ! If you get curry ask for the croissant like smash bread for it! Melt in your mouth delicious. It was a Monday night and it was packed ! Seriously will be going again soon !!!
Great food, big portions, not greasy or salty. The staff was very friendly, service was fast.
Good food.
This was my favorite Thai place in the Sacramento area. That was back in the day when two couples (owners) ran every aspect of the business. Over the years the business has grown to a point were the service and food quality is sub- par. Disappointing, but such is life.
My order of fried rice with crab had what felt like small pieces of crab shell spread throughout. Whatever the substance, it was unpleasant and inedible.
Had real high expectations for this place, as it was rated highly but was extremely disappointed. Biggest concern/issue was that we got a LONG hair tangled up in the chicken Spicy Holy Basil Fried Rice, that definitely put us off of eating the rest of the food!
We also got noodles and a yellow curry, that turned out to be mediocre and not noteworthy. Oh and no steamed rice came with the curry, guess we had to order it as an extra item? Which isn't usually the case...
Reached out to the restaurant and still waiting to hear back from them.
My wife's favorite place to eat. Mango curry is amazing. Best Thai in elk grove.
Delicious food and friendly service.
Wanted to try Thai food for the first time, so I went here and was not disappointed! Great food - coconut soup/curry and noodles 👍 Best thing was the fried banana with coconut ice cream hands down, a must try indeed!
It was very good, but all I had was alot of noodles and little bit of chicken. I paid 15$ and wasn't worth the price. But like I said the taste was great.
We absolutely loved this place. Ordered drunken noodles, thai garlic steak and green curry. All of them were fabulous, tasty and well prepared. Probably the best thai we’ve had in the US. Keep up the good work!
Nice friendly. Order got up in good time. Seafood soup not to bad. Noodles really good.
Got a to go order of a variety of dishes: pad thai, spring rolls, yellow curry, and ginger chicken. Curry was good and had a nice little spicy kick to it. Spring rolls were also good and not greasy at all (although I didn't have any sambal so they could have been better). I think the only disappointment was the pad thai. It just had a strange tang to it that didnt taste well in comparison to the others.
Despite that though I still think it's a worthy place to visit as the prices were reasonable and the other dishes were still hot and fresh and yummy.
Delicious food. Loved the red curry spring rolls. Word of caution--rhis place is popular and at the busiest times it will take a while to get your food.
