My networking group had our holiday party at the resturant and I was very impressed with their accomodations to food allergies and preferences. Pookie, the manager, was very helpful with communication of the cost and the pre-set menu. She even worked with us since we had a smaller group of 20 for the room cost and allowed us to pay for drinks on a seperate tab since not everyone in our group drank alcohol.
The food was excellent, some of the best Thai food I've had in the Bay Area I look forward to returning!
My company held a private event for a client and their team (approximately 50 people) and the Coconut Bay team did not disappoint. They sectioned of the back room for us and it was just the right size for our event. We were able to do a combination of bringing our own bottles of drink, but were also able to order from their bar. The food was fantastic dining in just as it was when we had catered delivery. All around great place and great ambiance. Highly recommend and will do business with again. Thank you!!!
Servers are nice and the place has a decent atmosphere, but the food is not great. We ordered Panang Curry Beef and Green Curry with Chicken. Both dishes had very cheap / low quality meat — beef was full of tendons and the chicken seemed like cheap store bought chicken breast cut up into pieces. The green curry also only had two pieces of eggplant and not too many vegetables. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place and won't return.
Went there for a late lunch as we were a bit busy that day. Most restaurant already closed and wouldn’t open until 5pm.
The restaurant was bigger than we thought when looking from the outside. The decorations were pretty and the seatings for each table were spacious. The staff were friendly and attentive.
It was our first time having coconut rice. We only had coconut sticky rice before. Well, nevertheless, it tasted just like coconut sticky rice, minus the sticky part.
We ordered their Fresh garden rolls, Legendary pad thai and Wonton soup. The fresh rolls were good, but the sauce was a bit plain compared to other Thai restaurants. Pad thai was delicious, as well as Wonton soup. The wontons were very tasty, but having them with spinach instead of bok choy kinda put me off.
Overall, this place was more of a Thai fusion restaurant rather than an authentic one, but their food was good regardless. The price could be on the expensive side compared to other restaurants.
We booked a private room in the back for our post-wedding lunch with our tier A friends (if you know, you know).
It was easy to arrange the details and menu over email with Aimorn. She originally suggested I scale back the menu, saying it was too much food. I accepted her suggestion, but at the lunch itself I realized it was too little food. Maybe her usual groups don’t include 100% hungry young adults with healthy appetites? We ended up ordering more food.
They let us come early to set up, and already had some decorations on the table which was appreciated.
I would recommend you book your special events here!
I wanted to acknowledge Pookie for the her excellent customer service in helping to plan our group's annual holiday event and making it a success. We were lucky to have the private room in the back of the restaurant. I was impressed with the level of attention to detail in providing personalized menus. The servers were all very attentive and accomodated our many dietary needs. They even helped us with some group photos which have already been posted by fellow group member, Kelly Scott.
Our 5-course meal was perfectly planned. Coconut Bay is truly living up to your 2024 Best of San Mateo Area award for Best Thai Restaurant!
This is a huge restaurant! It's so large that a lot of it was unused during lunch, including a semi-private dining space in the back, but it didn't feel empty since the space is cleverly broken up into multiple spaces. Could be a good place for large groups. The furnishings are dark wood so during lunch the restaurant interior felt a bit heavy against the brightness outside, but overall it's quiet and spacious.
We rarely find restaurants that serve Kha Moo and were thrilled to find it here. It was made of pork belly and more fatty than what I've had elsewhere but flavors were good. We asked for no spice in the Sweet Basil Bean Curd and Mint Leaf Surprise (Larb) but they came out mild, as a word of caution for families. Flavors are on the sweeter / richer side, so I'd enjoy eating here in moderation.
Had lunch on Sunday and it was delicious. Got the pumpkin curry and coconut rice and they were both amazing!
Fried rice is wet and bland. Hotplate dish is too spicy and too bland at the same time.

Food was okay. The Pad Thai was underwhelming, but the Sweet Basil with Pork dish was a bomb! Service were nice but it seemed like we were hurried to finish our meal (it was likely 9pm, but it was still ahead of their closing time at 10pm). Overall, I'd still come back and try other dishes.

I had the panang beef stew and it was incredible. Highly recommend!
Not my first time there but unfortunately not a good food experience
Super amazing authentic Thai food. All foods we ordered are great. Thank you Chef. Fantastic customer service from Dara, BK and even the receptionist Chloe gave us a warm welcome. Highly recommended. I will definitely come back and bring my friends.
Coconut Bay in Burlingame offers a delightful dive into the rich flavors of Thai and Southeast Asian cuisine. Known for its vibrant dishes and warm, inviting atmosphere, this restaurant has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike
Coconut Bay excels in delivering authentic Thai flavors with a menu that’s both extensive and diverse. Signature dishes like the Pad Thai and Green Curry are crowd-pleasers, bursting with the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory notes. The Tom Yum Soup is another highlight, offering a tangy, spicy kick that’s both refreshing and comforting. For those who enjoy seafood, the Drunken Noodles with prawns and the Pineapple Fried Rice with a mix of shrimp and chicken are must-tries. Portions are generous, and the presentation is always appealing.
Food is okay. For take out they don't include any utensils or napkins. Not great if you just want to eat at the park
Food tasted good but not budget friendly. The tea was strong, not smooth. I felt the dishes needed more spices and they did not ask how spice I would like my food.

Excellent food (not the best Thai we've ever had but it's way up on the list - top 10 for sure). The staff we're very cordial and attentive.
The food is delicious and the environment is friendly and inviting. Not only is the food fabulous the owners give back to the community regularly adding to uniqueness of this small business. Thank you!
We all arrived about 8:05 pm on a Saturday night. Restaurant had a few tables full but was not busy. The staff were so eager to get us fed and out that they offered us dessert before we all got our main courses. The waitress asked us if we wanted dessert because the kitchen would close soon. We looked at each other and could not believe it! It wasn't even close to 9pm yet and two people had not received their mains yet.
We did not feel relaxed because you could tell the team wanted to wrap up and leave. Food was good though. Its a pity that the vibe was not as relaxed and welcoming.
Great food and friendly service
The flood lacks flavor and is very bland. Thai cuisine is usually spicy. I had the pineapple fried rice and the sweet basil chicken.
Delicious Thai food and great atmosphere! I loved the live music and cozy interior. The coconut soup and pad thai were soooooo good. We ordered a Panang curry but it never came, so our server gave us a dessert on the house. I told her it was perfect because it was my friends birthday and she came back with an entourage to sing to her! Great food, great service, and great price!
I do miss Johnny, my bartending friend here, but the food stands on its own! I used to love coming to eat here after getting paid at Vinyl Room.
Great food. Good service good prices
Good food. Great service.
Food was good. Vibe was very loud with the live music
Got the Pad Thai. It was excellent, just wish I had asked for it more spicy.
We always have a great experience here!
We’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, and it never fails to impress. The delicious Thai cuisine is a culinary delight, and the staff's kindness enhances the overall experience. The yellow curry is my absolute favorite – a flavorful masterpiece. Five stars without a doubt!
I recently visited Coconut Bay for a delightful lunch.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food. The pad Thai and paneng curry we ordered were delicious. TThe dishes were expertly prepared, with just the right balance of spices and ingredients.
the staff went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was truly enjoyable. They attended to our every need, providing prompt and friendly service throughout our meal.
As a pet owner, it was wonderful to be able to bring our furry companion along with us. It is rare to find a restaurant that not only serves great food but also welcomes pets in such a warm and inviting manner.
Overall, our experience at Coconut Bay was outstanding. We will definitely be back, especially to try out their lunch special.
Was hoping to get some delicious Thai food here. When I stepped in, the atmosphere was chaotic. No one was at the reception. Waited 5 minutes and no server showed up so I left.
Went there for a late lunch as we were a bit busy that day. Most restaurant already closed and wouldn’t open until 5pm.

Very tasty food. Ordered several dishes and shared them family style 👌
Clean and cute dining area. Very polite and attentive staff. Food could use slightly less sugar, but the chicken was cooked well
Great job
This place is awesome. Super reasonable prices and amazing food. Highly recommend the lamb curry.
Horrible experience. The pad thia tasted like rotten shrimp and the green curry was tastless. And on top of that it gave me an upset stomach. The service was subpar at best and they got out order wrong. I will never come back.
Street parking is problem. Full bar. Lunch menu different from dinner menu: fewer options.
Nice atmosphere, tea comes on a wood plate. Silverwear was a knife and fork, not fork and spoon. I ordered the two item $19 option. Meal came on wood serving plate with salad, entre, spring rolls, coming in individual compartment dishes. I didn't like the short cut of the green beans. Overall disappointed but can't put finger on why. Nothing outstanding.

The food was great. They accommodated all our modification requests such as replacing side of Jasmin rice with coconut rice and making Panang curry less spicy. The server was helpful in answering all our questions about the menu.
Note for future self:
Even less spicy Panag curry is a bit spicy and don’t order silver noodle soup as it has got barely any flavor.
Update:
This time we tried red, yellow curries and pineapple fried rice. All had great taste and big portion sizes! They accidentally gave us chicken yellow curry instead of tofu. But they promptly replaced it tofu curry after pointing it out.
Ordered delivery through Caviar app. Food came in flimsy paper boxes that were already leaking and soaked-through when delivered. There was no option for spice level, which left the pad Thai and drunken noodle dishes extremely bland. For the quality and preparation, this is extremely over priced and disappointing.
I had garlic chicken. Very garlicky but tasty.
Went here for happy hour, extensively asked about happy hour in terms of drinks, and was charged for drinks as if they weren't happy hour
So flavorful food
Good food
Parking was relatively easy, food and drinks were fantastic (if you like heat, this is the place for you.
Tasty Thai curry, loved their roti dip
Delicious food and now I can get takeout without the guilt! Coconut Bay is the first restaurant I've been to that is using REUSABLE CONTAINERS for takeout. They are even stainless steel so no chemicals getting into my food. Thank you, Coconut Bay, for not just making the freshest and tastiest Thai food, but also for getting rid of all the waste!! You are my hero! I hope you inspire all other restaurants to follow suit.
He t food and great service… drunken noodles very good!!
Wow! Second time eating here. Everything was delicious. Eggplant and tofu!! Panang curry!! Drunken noodles!
They were very busy, but the food was very good
The food here is some of the best Thai food I've ever had! Hands down! The atmosphere is okay. Smaller front of the house with a larger area in the back for what I'm assuming are parties. You're greeted by a friendly host and an array of tiny Thai sculptures and that replicate a Thai town. It's really cool!
But..... the real review. The food! Amazing! The chili sauce that comes with the beef appetizer..... I could drink it! It's so good!!!! The hit pot stickers are perfectly crispy and so tasty.
The Pineapple fried rice was gone from the table in a few minutes because it's just so flavorful and amazing. Also got the Thai Garlic chicken. Soooo good! I'm sure everything on this menu is amazing because the limited amount of food we got was fresh and delicious. If I lived in the area, I'd be a frequent visitor.
Came for dinner after graduation with our family of 9. Food was really good as well as service. On Thursdays there's also a band. The band was so good. Will definitely be back on Thursdays!
My husband and I recently had a fabulous dinner at Coconut Bay. We’ve been going to Coconut Bay since it first opened over 15 years ago. The food is always delicious. Something that we recently tried on the menu with the seasonal sea bass. It was absolutely delicious. The best fish dish that we’ve ever had. The other outstanding dishes include the garlic prawns, the garlic quail appetizer, and the roti with curry sauce. We also recommend the pad thai annd Highway noodles and Panang curry. Have tge curry with the garlic rice. The watermelon mojito, and Coconut Bay Breeze cocktail were delicious too. We will definitely be returning soon.
watered down americanized food. space is a little stylish. drinks are light pours.
I called and asked what timenisnthe last seating and I was told 9:45pm. I arrived at 9:20pm and was told that the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes. I had to order takeout. They gave me no sauces, no cutlery. I spent over 60 dollars. The food was good but not pleased to have to eat it as takeout.
Consistantly delicious!
Awesome food
This is my favorite Thai restaurant. The food is delicious and flavorful and I recommend the yellow curry!
Excellent food, great presentation, exceptional taste! Would definitely come back
The food was absolutely delicious and the staff very friendly.
Food was awful. It looked like bland, boiled chicken. Not exactly what I expect when getting Thai food. I was charged for inedible garbage and not sure who would rate this place anywhere near a 4. Plenty of better options in Burlingame.
Came here with the whole family for the first time and we loved it! To begin with, our reservation was well taken cared for. The food was served at the right time and everything was amazingly good! Even their special cocktails were great!
Prices were decent.. probably even less expensive than at other Thai restaurants. The whole staff was very friendly too.
The place is nice..not classy but definitely not beat down. Outdoor seating is another plus. And they have a nice bar too...with happy hour specials.
All in all, highly recommend by me.
Try them and you'll agree.
Ordered coconut bay soup, eggplant basil, appetizer plate and pork broccoli, everything was good. Definitely will be back
So amazing. Pricey but Thai food always is since it's so delicious
Too cheap to turn on the heating?
Food was great! The highway noodles was splendid!! The service was amazing too. 10/10 would come back again
We ordered steam rice not fully cooked. Tastes just okay
I love the food. My favorites are their pompano fish, garlic chicken and the Pad Thai. The reason I don’t rate this higher is the seating, the decor and the atmosphere. They only have a few cushioned seats, no booths, no cushions on most seats, uncomfortable lighting and the temperature is chilly. I also like restaurants where they given you free bread or something to snack on when you arrive. Here you don’t get anything: just a hard, cold seat to wait for your food in. I tried to call today to see if they are open, tried several times, but the call just disconnected like someone hung up- no voicemail. But the food is good, prices are reasonable and the people are nice, so we do eat there.
Used to be great. Has gotten more expensive and serving sizes are way smaller. We keep trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but $20 for chicken curry that is watered down and small is just not acceptable
Disappointed. Entrees of curry do not come with rice. We ordered to go and found out once we had opened the stapled bag of food that the curries did not come with rice. For the price of $20 each entree, shouldn’t be asking too much to include rice?!?
Great place to eat some good Thai food. With friendly staff. I highly suggest the Drunkard Noodle! And spicy means spicy here.
Just love this place! I have been coming here for years. The best Thai Food and service ever!!!!!!
One of the worst meals I have ever eaten. Not sure what happened to this place. Greasy and not fresh tasting. Will never come back
Overpriced, bland food. Can’t believe a curry dish is 20 dollars without rice. Ridiculous. And the chicken was not tasty at all.
👍🏻
The owner and staff are very customer focused! Always a great experience!
The dishes here are too sweet for me.
Awesome food! They have a great variety in the menu for a Thai restaurant!!
Ordered the Drunkard Noodles Seafood combo dish, very tasty, just the right touch of spice but a bit heavy on the squid. Good service, reasonable prices.
Appetizers were tasty. Sweet Basil Shrimp was delicious. Tofu and eggplant delicious. Sautéed greenbeans were just right. Brown rice a little overcooked. Yellow curry, good flavor. Scallops are tender and delicious. Selection of popular cocktails but limited wines. Service was good. Overall a very good dinner experience.
Love those lunch specials!! Yummy red curry!!
Good food. Easy to share.
Came across this place for lunch. Has a great lunch special. Mai tai was delicious & strong. Decent food, my girlfriend and I cleared our trays. I ordered my red curry "Thai hot" and it had a nice spice to it. Great find overall
Had a refreshing coldie on tap while waiting for my takeout order. Cheers 🍻
Delicious
Genuine Thai cuisine.
Loved the food. The service was exceptional.
Most dishes can easily be shared.
Very tasty..nice out side eating options
Starter platter is good
Everything was delicious. You have to order the virgin coconut bay drink.
The food and staff are excellent. Crab fried rice the best.
Very good and cheap food considering is Burlingame
Ordered pompano fried fish and duck curry for takeout. The sauce to go with the fish was packed separately and it's almost like a third dish over the rice. The fish was good by itself, very nicely made and not dry. The duck curry was very yummy too! It was early lunch hours, so restaurant was quiet.
They have really great, big lunch specials under $14. Super delicious. I had red curry with chicken. Much healthier than a lot of places nearby, I think. Fast service today too -30 minutes in and out, if you want. But comfortable to stay longer. They sing happy birthday and bring a cake. Just saw that happen.
Not as good as I expected. The Tom Yum Soup is a bit salty with string fish sauce taste. The Duck Curry is not as “really really good” as our server describe it. The Eggplant Basil and Pad Thai are good though. The Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango is also good but toppings is quite sparse.
Great dinner on Saturday night. We made a reservation but it was not busy when we ate at 5:00. We had the Panang curry, pad Thai, cashew chicken, and calamari appetizer. We also ordered 2 kids meals and the portions were great for $8! We had amazing service! They left a water pitcher on the table which I personally enjoy, but it was not needed someone filled our glasses before they were empty! They were very attentive and so kind to my children! Happy hour was a great bonus too! We will be back!
The Shrimp Pad Thai was very good!!
Very nice restaurant with the added touch of attention. All plates were served to impress. Had the Fried Quail with delicious fiery sauce and the Tumeric Puffs (very unique) for appetizers. I had Legendary Pad Thai and my partner had the Pineapple Fried Rice. We finished off with dessert, chocolate mousse and mango sticky rice.
All of the food was delicious and I'm going back to try the Drunkard Noodles and the Sweet Basil entrees.
Really great Thai food and super friendly service
Food was delicious, service was attentive and polite. We did wear masks when not actively eating - Feb 20, 2022.
Wonderful food
The staff were very nice and the food was splendid. Pumpkin curry ftw, and oh the food arrived impossibly fast. Excellent pricing too 😋
The menu has a nice variety and food is delicious and fresh. The staff are great, very friendly, welcoming and nice. The restaurant and bar are well kept, comfortable and nicely decorated.
Don't bother eating here. The service is good. The food is not worth the money. I had the pumpkin curry, they left on so much of the squash skin that was all I tasted. And it made the dish crunchy. My friend had the Pad Thai with shrimp. The dish was monochromatic and tasted as bland as it looked. The lemonade was green tinged and kind of odd.
I love the decor in the place the food is fabulous with seating outside good service
We just got a carry out through GrubHub, was so excited to have my shrimp pad Thai , requested that it be spicy and no eggs as I’m allergic. Took my first bite and needless to say it was not spicy at all, went to take my second and found a huge piece of hair dangling with my noodles. Took the entire thing and dumped it in the garbage. My husband drunken noodles were not impressive as well as he also took one bite and threw his out as they tasteless . This has got to be the worst experience ever! Ordered pizza and loving it!
Good food and good services
We thought the puffs and the apps are good but then we got to the main course dishes and it was okay.
Decided to get dinner here because a friend recommended the place having gone before. Threw of us ordered drunkard noodles, one had the peanut sauce and bf had the legendary pad thai along with cocktails which were quite delicious. Everything tasted fine and had a good time as the wait staff did a fairly good job checking in on us. However, the next day, my bf and I had to fight to use the bathroom from food poisoning. My other peer who had the drunkard noodles texted me how he was stuck in the bathroom half the night from his stomach knotting. Spent almost $200 only to suffer from upset stomachs and diarrhea. It definitely wasn't anything else I had but this that caused all of our stomachs to sync in pain. It's too bad since it's close to my place and would have been great if not for that.
A group dinner for 18 served outdoors buffet style was perfect. Excellent food and lovely staff.
Love the ambiance, amazing & courteous service, really nice presentation, and c
Of course the food is amazing!
I went here on a weekday so there were comparatively less people here but they had great food and service. The menu is pretty good and has some vegetarian options as well. Their dessert menu is really good and the presentation is top notch. This restaurant is one block away from the main street on Burlingame so it is calmer and quieter
Tasty, aromatic food! Never had such tasty fish cakes before. We also ordered Pad Thai and Trout. The chef is truly gifted. Service is excellent and gracious! We will go there again for sure. The views of trains passing at the railway crossing are a plus for kids. The Mai Tai here tasted better than any Mai Tai I’d ever had!
We ate here on a weeknight, the 4 of us were super hungry and ordered everything on the appetizer menu and multiple entrees. Fast service, excellent food. Highly recommend. Wings, coconut shrimp and Pad Thai were my favorites.
Great price and great quality. We ordered takeout and it was ready quickly with huge serving sizes
You know what you are going to get with thai and it was excellent. Had the garlic rice, and pad thai with veggies. Also had yellow curry and tofu as well as the veggie rolls.
The food lasted us for two or three different meals as leftovers. Real chill vibe in the place and has outdoor dining if you want to eat out.
Very classy and romantic. Great for parties or other events. I celebrated my best friends wedding reception here and the lighting alone set the mood for me. Highly recommend for the food and atmosphere.
