Jasmine Thai is a go-to spot whenever I’m craving flavorful Thai food. Their yellow curry is absolutely irresistible—rich, creamy, and packed with the perfect balance of spices. It's definitely a dish I always recommend. I’m also a huge fan of their lunch specials, which offer great value without compromising on taste. The tofu appetizers are a must-try, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Whether you’re a regular or trying it for the first time, Jasmine Thai consistently delivers delicious dishes that keep me coming back for more. Also, their food is great for take-out! If you don’t want to dine-in, just take it home. 😉
My husband and I love yellow curry. We have only had Thai in Orange County and we had our share of favorite spots but since we moved to Bakersfield we hadn’t had any Thai until last night. I had a craving and so we came to Jasmine and The New Taste.
We were the first diners of the hour and then a few other guests came in and out mostly picking up their To-Go orders. One other group came in and dined-in but otherwise it was just my husband, our 3 year old and I.
We both ordered the yellow curry with chicken (mine mild and his medium) and a chicken fried rice for our daughter.
The staff was very friendly and served us quickly. Everything was hot, fresh and my husband and I both agreed that it was the best we had had. The flavor in the curry broth was amazing. Even the chicken fried rice was amazing. We ended up ordering an extra side of chicken since our daughter wanted more and they took care of that quickly. They even complimented us/her on how cute she was.
We had great food and even though it was a slow Saturday night, they took care of us and we felt really good about going back in the future. If you like yellow curry, this was the best we had had and we recommend it. Great food and service 🫶🏻
Edit: The photo of my yellow curry features some of the chicken fried rice added to it. I saw my husband scoop some into his bowl and I thought it was brilliant.
Foods taste are okay. Drunken noodle was okay, no special taste. Panang beef curry was also okay and the curry sauce was very watery, different than the ones served in the Bay Area. Garlic chicken was also okay, no special taste. The garlic wasn’t too noticeable. Also, the “hot sauce” was very sour and salty?
Service was okay too. One of the waitresses was not too nice. The other lady (the one bit smaller), she’s very nice!
Parking was a bit challenging if this is your first time visit the restaurant, because you don’t know that you can park at the parking structure between 18th and eye street.
If you’re in Bakersfield and craving authentic Thai cuisine, this place is a must-visit. I’ve been coming here for years whenever I’m in town, and it’s always a highlight of my trip. Nestled right in downtown, this restaurant offers a wonderful family atmosphere and serves delicious Thai food.
Their soup is exceptional—truly fantastic—and the menu is packed with flavorful options. The Pad Thai, crab fried rice, and pineapple fried rice are all standout dishes. The Thai tea is a treat, and the rolls are consistently delightful. Portions are generous, making it a great spot for satisfying meals.
I absolutely love this place and make it a point to visit every single time I come to town. Highly recommended!
Imagine.. pineapple red curry, just enough coconut milk and the perfect amount of heat. Fresh, cut that day, pineapple and chicken cooked perfectly. The bell peppers are cooked well enough yet still have the crunch. It’s an “OMG this is so good” bite, every single time. The yellow curry has a way of making your heart sing. Jasmine and the new taste is absolutely wonderful. It took a long time to find, but my husband and I are grateful we did.
Cozy place with terrific food and great service. Not busy on a weekday evening. I can recommend their Thai Ice Tea, which is on the sweeter side, but has a very nice caramel milk flavor. The green curry was delicious and the peanut sauce served with the satay chicken was great and spot on. Generous portions and enough to bring home.

Service is always friendly and welcoming, the food is best in town! The Pad Thai is top notch and the curries are some of the best I've ever had. This is great Thai food!
The Yellow curry was very good, but the Khao Soi Shrimp was sublime. The service was attentive.
I almost put 1 because it's them working for Uber I always have the worst service through Uber please put door dash that's why I had to order thru Uber they have the worst
My boyfriend and I are from North Carolina and my auntie introduced us to this restaurant in June. I will be completely honest and say that this is by far the best Thai food I’ve had!! We ordered pho, drunken noodles, & crab/lobster fried rice.. all the dishes were absolutely delicious! I hope this restaurants stays open for a very long time! We’ll be back from NC!
Very tasty green curry. Highly recommended.

Tasty and very competitive lunch specials. Highly recommended!
Great downtown Bakersfield Thai food restaurant. Excellent price, location and quality.
What a fall from grace... my favorite Thai food is terrible. I ask for very mild coconut soup. I'm sick and it's always been mostly white coconut milk and helps with recovery. 2nd time in a row it was super red with floating red chili flakes. Now I can't eat anything after a 30 dollar purchase. Back to stockdale for the elephant is it again. What a bummer I suffer from lack of protein and really needed that tofu.

Pad see ew is usually my favorite. First time having it here it was just a tad bit too sweet. And their shrimp dumpling in curry was beyond sweet. Would like it if it was more on the savory side than the sweet.
Delicious food, speedy service and a downtown staple for sure!
Food is great. I usually don't care for orange chicken but theirs is an exception. It's really good. Not just soggy breading like many out there. It's crispy and has genuine orange flavor. The salad is wonderful. Rice as well. Their Thai tea is great too. Overall recommend going here. They have a lunch special which includes everything I mentioned, with the tea. Or various other combos. My only gripe is they close for a few hours in the afternoon. I believe it's 3 to 5pm. And that happens to be almost every time I'm downtown and wanting to get food from them.

The meal was fantastic! We had the chicken dumplings as a starter and they we're so juicy and flavorful. The mains we had were the driven noodles with pork and the pad see eww with tofu. They were excellent! 5 stars! The restaurant itself was a bit warm and service was a tiny bit slow. I'd go back anytime we are in the area, no questions though!
It was good
I love this place , especially their lunch menu, it bets going to any fast food establishment. The service and food is great . I try to work my schedule around or near this place when working in the area.
This was a nice experience. The ladies are so kind and always making sure everything is taken care of.
The Pad Si Ew was delicious and it came as a huge portion 😀 Very satisfied with the quantity and quality of food.
My first time having Thai tea. It was really good! I will be back soon 🇹🇭🙏🏻
This great little hole in the wall place on Chester is fantastic. Food, services and the vibe are all great. If you get a chance give it a try and try the Tai tea, you'll be happy.
My sister and I were strolling though downtown one evening and she recommended this eatery. Once we got inside we were greeted right away and seated. We ordered our food fairly quick to go and although we weren’t eating in, they still accommodated us ordering appetizers in and getting the rest of our food to go. The pad Thai noodles were so good! I am currently no eating meat and I felt like they had a few Options for me. Which for anyone not eating meat, you know the struggle. All the dishes had so much flavor and were very good. The spring rolls were hot and fresh!
Visited this Thai restaurant tonight and it was an absolute delight! The Tom Kha soup was hands down the best we’ve ever had, bursting with flavor and just the right amount of spice. The service was exceptional, with the staff being incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Despite living in Los Angeles, we’ll definitely be making frequent trips here for the outstanding Thai cuisine. Highly recommend to anyone craving authentic Thai flavors!
Food was decent. Bad wait time. Not a safe area. Impossible parking.
Ordered for a pickup.
The area is not safe and has no parking.
I parked in an alley where some homeless guy just stood in front of my car so I couldn't move. Random people doing drugs on the side of the street.
Arrived to restaurant and the food wasn't ready. Was told maybe my order wasn't in yet. I said I received a receipt and the order was definitely in.
Good service and fine atmosphere.
The food was not good. If your out of town friends are lookin for this cuisine you should take them literally anywhere else. Would absolutely not recommend.
Nice tucked in place. Food was okay. Pho didn’t have a lot of flavor like the usual ones I try.
Always friendly service. Love the options with my favorite being any of their curry dishes
Fantastic Thai, best Thai in Bakersfield HONESTLY!
Pineapple curry with tofu is amazing.
If coming in on a busy day, be prepared to flag down the staff! Also speak clearly, I was waiting for my order after confirming but they apparently didn't write it down, but they got it out fast after.
Otherwise the food is pretty decent, highly reccomend the crab fried rice and the pork bbq appetizer! They taste great together if your looking for a lighter meal.
The noodles we ordered were a bit so and so, but still enjoyable if you're hungry and craving.
If you're a party of 4, the tables are a little small, so pick and choose which foods you want and when so you don't get crowded. Im sure they will gladly accommodate a second table if necessary.
In my opinion, Jasmine is the best Thai restaurant in Bakersfield. I've been going there since they opened and their taste is consistent. I'm hooked on Pad Keemao and they always hit the spot. The chicken satay is amazing. The lunch special can't be beat. Thai tea or soft drink is included with every lunch special. One of my favorite places to eat;
Everything is amazing!! Service is top notch!!!
Went today for my first time to try out the lunch special and it did not disappoint! Top notch friendly and genuine service. The food was delicious. Great price for the portion you receive. I will be returning here more often to try other food items as well! *Panang curry medium spice in picture*
Amended Review! This has to be one of the best lunch spots in Bakersfield. Their lunch special is exceptional and very filling for such a low price. See photo for the idea of what you get (not pictured: Free Thai Ice Tea that is included!!) Love the friendly staff and fast order preparation. Pretty please SUPPORT THIS LOVELY LOCAL RESTAURANT!
I really enjoyed the orange chicken with the Thai tea. Lunch special is a killer deal.
Wasn't sure what I wanted when I walked in, but staff made a great recommendation. Ended up having the Panang Curry lunch special, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Looking forward to going back.
The best yellow curry I've ever had!
This is our favorite place. We love the yellow curry.
Great experience here! I had the yellow curry with chicken lunch special. Delicious! Great price as well.
drunken noodle the chicken and noodles were dry. orange chicken i almost choked on a bone in it. no flavor to the food.
Some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten!! Every dish we ordered was the most perfect version of itself- flavors were perfectly balanced, presentation was great, and preparation was exceptional. We tried the Panang, green, pumpkin and red curries (all with tofu), and they were wonderful. The veggie rolls were crisp and tasty with a lovely sauce, and the mango sticky rice was simply delicious. We also tried the fried banana dessert on our second visit, and it was the best version of that treat I have eaten. I am a big fan of Thai food, and have also visited Thailand several times, so I mean it when I say this place is top notch and absolutely worth a visit!
Only Thai restaurant I like.
Great lunch special until 3 PM then they close till five
Not a clean place.
The yellow curry with tofu will be my last meal. DELICIOUS!
Great Thai food!
Updated review: been coming here for years now and I always get great quality food and friendly service! 10/10 would reccomend as the best Thai food in Bakersfield.
Staff were so sweet and engaging! Food was so delicious and reminded me of home. Had the best possible date with my girlfriend. Wish I could give you guys 10 stars. ❤️
Great lunch specials
Never had a bad meal. Everyone who works there is wonderful, and the quality of food is on point.
I am so glad we came here for lunch!! Their food was delicious. I had the spicy seafood soup and it was out of this world. The services was great and everyone was really friendly. I highly recommend. We will definitely be coming back.
Love their food! Always enjoy it, I'm a big fan of their yellow curry with chicken. They do get a little busy cuz their lunch specials are a great deal and delicious too!
Great food and great customer service...
Curry, noodles, soup, everything was way too salty. Service was slow too. Wouldn't come back.
It was the best option out of the limited choices in the area.
Was tasty portions could have been a bit larger, place was on the verge of dirty and tackey, waiter was the best experience
Special lunch provides free beverages.
The flavor is good, however, serving speed is not ideal. Overall, still worth visiting.
Had a great experience eating during the lunch hour this Friday at Jasmine and the new taste.
The lunch deals are great and offer a good amount of choice even to someone who's less adventurous you might be dragging along to eat with you.
The Food is among the best Thai food I've had in awhile. Especially in the bakersfield area. And the price is absolutely not bad. I'm wondering how the place isn't packed during lunch hours right now. Hopefully they'll catch on more as time goes by. I'm glad I got a hankering for some Thai today!
The food was okay and the prices were great but there was a baby roach in my curry.
Just driving thru California so we simply have no idea where to eat. This was a great choice after reading several reviewed restaurants! A must go! We had pad thai, orange chicken, mango with sticky rice and Thai iced tea. Service was very friendly and quick. Meals were prepared fresh too.
Really friendly service and good food. A smaller place with a really nice atmosphere.
Food is great
Perfection
I love eating here from my work. It is just a few blocks away and if I want a quick light lunch. I head over the Jasmine. Best Thai food without the overwhelming ingredients. It is simple and delicious.
I enjoy The Taste of Thai food. Tonight dinner was awesome. I tried two new meals. One was the chicken satay with peanut sauce and green beans with shrimp fabulous. My favorite was the yellow curry please try this location you will not be disappointed.
These people were so kind and so lovely and I want them to know that we really appreciate the experience of being there in such an authentically Thai setting. The portions were also very generous and a great value.
Our only issue was the very sweet level of the food. We did not understand that they had tuned up the sweetness of all the dishes (green veggie curry, pad Thai) past what we feel is normal and that was not so awesome FOR US. I don't know if this is just this one family's taste palette or it is a way they have changed their Thai food to appeal to Americans who love so much sugar. The other thing is the pad Thai had no smokey flavor which to us is a prerequisite of quality and the Chinese broccoli with crispy pork was extremely salty.
Consistently good. Amazing service and staff. I work downtown and their lunch options are an incredible value. We stop here for dinners when downtown too. Love this place. All the curries are so good, the pad thai, the basil pork, everything. Try it all.
I loved this place, but they've really reduced their portion sizes of late.😩
Update (4/27/22): They've become so stingy with their shrimp. My mom's pineapple fried rice, which was about $15, had only two shrimp in it.
This place is always great!! Great food and service
Excellent food every time! It's been our family's go-to place for years. When we want Thai food for dinner- it's a must. And they never failed us.
I LOVED IT, CLEAN , GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE
VERY PLEASANT RESTAURANT...
Best thai curry ever!!
*update* still the best Thai curry ever! I love the red curry (medium spicy, so I can still add some chili flakes) with beef and brown rice (best freaking rice I've ever had). My husband loves the same, except he gets chicken. Tonight we also tried some pork BBQ skewers. The tamarind sauce was soo delicious that we had to ask for some to-go. I think it will be awesome with some steak or tri-tip. 🤤
The staff is also quite sweet.
Very friendly staff. The soup was hat and wonderful. I had yellow curry fried rice. It was just the right amount of heat.
The food was amazing! Me and my husband tried it out for the first time and were very impressed, we will definitely be going back again and I highly suggest it for lunch or dinner 🥣
Very delicious! I love the lunch special! You have to try the yellow curry, spicy basil, or Kung pao omg sooo good. GREAT SERVICE AND STAFF!
Really nice Thai food
The food was good and the service was quick as well. We had ordered basil fried rice and pineapple fried. The both dishes were amazing. The pineapple fried rice had a little bit of raw egg smell but the taste was fine.
The Thai tea was great.
The servers were super nice and accommodating. I was there on Christmas day and I was able to find the street parking. Just in case you are not able to find parking, there is parking lot behind the restaurant.
Too bad I live in Tulare, otherwise I would be here everyday! The fried rice is amazing!!! The yellow curry, for me, was TOO sweet but it was good. I like my curries more spicy and I asked for spicy and it was sooo sweet, nonetheless, I will be back!
Had beef drunken noodles takeout, it was meh, I took into consideration that being takeout might affect texture of noodles so this review (3/5) is solely based on taste. Noodles were too flavored, it was very sweet and salty at the same time. Prob willl not visit again.
Every time we've come here, they've always been so attentive, and considering the portion sizes, the prices are very fair. Not to mention, everything is DELICIOUS, the yellow curry, the DRUNKEN NOODLES AHHHHH. You'll like it unless you dislike flavor. Pre-COVID they were very accommodating whenever we came by with a party of 13+.
The pumpkin curry is amazing!
Meh, its pretty good, I would recommend the curry over the pho. If you are looking for pho this is NOT the place. Everything else is good. Not great, but good.
Service is amazing and the staff are kind and courteous. Food is good, but sometimes too sweet. 4/5 would come again!
This is a very unassuming place, that served some of the best Thai food I've had in the United States. I was amazed that they had Khao Soi on the menu, which I last had during visits to Bangkok in 2018. Service was impeccable, the Thai tea was unusually delicious, the dishes were beautifully presented (see photos), prices were extremely reasonable, and I was even able to finish the meal with an incredible mango sticky rice dessert. This will be my go-to Thai restaurant in Bakersfield. There's no reason to look further.
Unique Thai restaurant with wonderful customer service. The food is delicious! I always enjoy myself every time I visit.
Living in the east side of town there aren't many options for dining out. My wife and I both enjoy Thai cuisine and Jasmine Thai is not only convenient but also very good! We will usually try something new each time we go and have never been disappointed. The serving sizes are great and we always leave with left overs.
Phenomenal spot.
Incredible food and menu.
Consistently great.
Service is top notch.
5 star for sure.
Bakersfield gem.
We happened to walk by this restaurant and decided to give it a try. The food was amazingly tasty! We ordered yellow curry, satay chicken and the spicy beef it was all great and the Thai tea is very good as well. The price was very affordable definitely will be coming back !
It was my first time here and I thought it was good. I didn't know what to order because it was all new to me. It was really good though.
Ordered to go and everything was delicious. Service is fast and the prices are good as well.
The inside is really unique and really takes you out of Bakersfield and into Thailand. The food is absolutely authentic and the menu is quite large.
The star of the show was the service, however. Our waitress was so kind and on top of everything. She insisted on wrapping or food to go herself instead of just leaving boxes. The other staff were all fantastic as well, taking time to greet our two year old daughter who was all smiles and eager to go back.
Super tasty Thai food and friendly, attentive service
Service is great, Pat did a wonderful job taking care of us. Great food.
Been here a few times. I had the ginger beef and my companion had the yellow curry chicken. Server was nice and attentive. Sat outside and enjoyed some type of normalcy.
Oml, I went here with my family and bf after I graduated, and it was so nice. Very chill, great family environment. AND THEIR TEA IS BOMBBB it's a must yo.
We had dinner here to see if this could be another Thai option in town. We ordered chicken dumpling for an appetizer and Pad Thai, Tom Kha chicken, and Pumpkin Curry for the main entrees. The appetizer and pad Thai was nothing special and similar to the other Thai restaurants in town; but, the Tom Kha chicken and Pumpkin Curry was different and amazing! We love Tom Yum and the Tom Kha was just as good and more and the coconut in the soup was refreshing.Great choice for a cold weather meal. As for the Pumpkin Curry, if you don’t mind pumpkin- you have to try.
Overall - I think this is a great option for Thai food if you’re in the area. I would definitely come back again.
Consistently good tasting food. Sometimes an not so fresh shrimp gets in the curry, but delicious for the most.
Best restaurant for thai food , great customer service , great atmosphere, great food and pretty good prices!!!! Must try garlic pepper chicken, garlic green beans add chicken, pineapple fried rice!!!
They are very friendly
Great authentic Thia food and customer service !!
Safe, good Thai food. Definitely a work favorite, everyone will usually order. Usually we share a lot of dishes, haven’t been disappointed!
Great place to grab authentic Thai food. Pat is great and will always treat you right. Great khao soi and it is my favorite in town. Everything i have tried has been fantastic.
This place was the perfect introduction to Thai food for my boyfriend. I chose this place based on location and the excellent reviews. He literally said that it was the best meal he has ever had! We shared the Pad Thai w/tofu and Pineapple Curry, also w/tofu and both dishes were amazing! Their service, cleanliness and prices were also great. We'll definitely be back!
The best shrimp fried rice in town. Always good service and good food when i go
Eat here! It’s the first non greasy pad Thai I’ve had definitely will be back! Amazing staff and family owned. Good Thai tee coffee too! 5 stars! Come eat the best food ever.
Place is the the center of downtown. Can seat where you want / open. Servers are healthful and nice. As soon as you are seated a menu are given . Turn around of food from time you order and it is served are quick. We went during lunch rush hour. Seen a good turn around/ traffic but due to good service and quick service people didn’t even have to line up or wait for long. Food are delicious, fresh and amount of serving of food and price are reasonable. Been here couple of times and this place always delivers. I highly recommends this restaurant if you are craving Thai food. - Me and my daughter ordered Phad Thai, Penang curry chicken, Tom yang and drunken noodles. Their version sticky rice with mango are good too.
Good food. Clean menus.
Loved my chicken pho!
Food? SUPERB. Service? AMAZING! Pumpkin curry soup is a most try.
I like this place because of their weekly lunch special for 9 bucks that includes a drink. I ordered their pho though and it was pretty good.
Delicious! Great wait staff and atmosphere. We had the roasted curry duck and drunken noodles, sticky rice and mango. Everything was so good!
Yum! The green and pumpkin curry's are delicious, start with the glass noodle salad.
I loved the Panang Curry suggested by the waiter. Hot and delicious! Excellent service!
AMAZING FOOD!!
Amazing flavors with fresh vegetables, meats, soup stocks, & fried finger foods.
An authentic Thai cuisine, at an amazing price for large portions.
Shimp fried rice is one of the best dishes, made with actual whole prawns.
Chow mein & orange chicken are Thai variations of Asian food with loads of savory flavors & freshness.
This Thai restaurant is best in town,we tried all Thai restaurant in Bakersfield but we just come once and never come back. This one we got to tell a lot of friends for sure. Very very good for every thing including service.
It was just ok.
I like their lunch special having a big serving
Pretty different flavors than any other Thai restaurant I've visited (and I eat a LOT of Thai).
Sweeter, and less spicy than I prefer. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't very good.
