Local family-owned restaurant serving authentic Lao & Thai cuisine, one home-cooked meal at a time.
I am so glad I found this place! Best Thai food I've had in years, and across multiple states! Huge portions, nice and saucy (vs dry), and an actual spice scale to match my palate. I lean spicy, and I got the "very spicy" option. They have an even spicier option than this, but I'm glad I stuck with the "very spicy." 10000% will nom again!
Good takeout Thai food. Medium spice was just right. We had coconut curry soup with noodles and vegetables and curry squash with shrimp. The noodles were basically the same as Ramen noodles, but were good if you like Ramen!
Flavors were spot on. The shrimp were slightly overcooked.
Still would recommend this restaurant. Average price per dish was around $12.
Serving size was generous.
I got a curry, soup and drunken noodles. Practically inedible. Everything tasted like canned vegetables, noodles were squishy. Curry was thin and watery.
I've had very disappointing experiences with rising sons food twice now. First I got the chicken lo mein, second I got the drunken noodles. Both dishes had mushy noodles that tasted as if they had been boiled for an hour. The vegetables were bland and appeared to be from a pre-cut freezer bag. The chicken was tough. I dont have anything redeeming to share.
Love the food and adore this whole family...Pho' is my jam and their's is amazing...
One thing I would change is to have in house seating again...Part of the price is for social engagement and community...
The food is great, and they treat their customers very well.

Excellent food. Good amount of spice
I got take-out pad kaprao with tofu. Was excellent, will return
If you like your Asian food hot and spicy this is a great place. All the dishes were good. I like having plenty of various vegetables and they do an excellent job. I like their beef too.
I’m not sure if there was a new cook today but our food was made like someone saw a photo of it and then tried to recreate it. The sauce on my Pad Thai was more like a gravy. My husband got Pad Bami which was bland but edible.
The one good thing was that the portions were huge… but it was just a lot of really bad food. I’d rather smaller portions of edible food. Left over Thai food is one of my favorites but we threw it out. We also ordered the gyoza and it was breaded??
My husband got red curry from here before and he said it was good but I’m not sure I’ll be back to give it another go.
The pad ew was like overboiled fragmented pasta-paste. I wouldn’t serve that to anyone. Shame , shame, shame. The crab Rangoon was the best. The dumpling was so so. If not for the crab Rangoon I’d rate this food a zero. The male elderly receptionist was warm, friendly and very pleasant - him I give a 5. The food 1.
I really wanted to like this place. I found a hair in my noodles, my chicken was bland, my meal came with items it wasn’t supposed to and didn’t come with items it listed on website. The picture on the website was very misleading to what I actually got. Disappointed :(
Carryout. Pad Thai was decent. Curry Squash was too watery thin, Tom Kha was awesome with lots of shrimp (paid extra for shrimp though). Fried spring rolls were great.
A disappointment. This was the second time I've ordered from Rising Sons, and I'm sad to say there won't be a third. My party ordered Pad Thai with tofu (medium spice), Drunken Noodles with tofu (medium spice), Panang Curry with chicken (very spicy), and spring rolls with pork.
The Pad Thai tasted solely of ketchup, and the tofu had clearly been pre-cooked in one large slab and then cut into pieces. Overall it was a sticky mess, and not pleasant to eat. It was not spicy at all.
The Drunken Noodles were similar, though tasted vaguely of soy sauce instead of ketchup. Again, no spice to speak of.
The Panang curry was indeed very spicy...but that's it. The overwhelming flavor was capsaicin.
The spring rolls were okay. The sauce that accompanied them was insipid and did little to enhance their flavor.
Amazing authentic and tremendously spicy homestyle Thai and Lao food. Some of the best Pad Kee Mao and Papaya Salad I've ever had! The pork was tender and delicious and the veggies were saucy and crunchy. The Pad Kee Mao had the delectable aroma of fish sauce, not soy sauce as many other places might use. Note that they are takeout only, and it's faster to order online.
Only the most hardened veteran spiceheads should dare try the "spicy as possible" level! It is extremely potent Thai birds eye chilis and perhaps something even spicier that made me tear through my freezer looking for ice cream. I will return here next time I'm in Verona, but I've been humbled and will be getting the "very spicy" next time!
We used to go to the High Point Rd location regularly before it closed and opened here. My favorites are the Coconut Soup with chicken or pork, and Keng Kari with tofu. The flavors are so wonderful, portions are generous, and prices really reasonable. I would highly suggest ordering takeout!
This restaurant is currently carry-out only, no dining room. I was pleased with the menu selection, and clear markings of gluten free items. I ordered Pho, and it was amazing. Way more than I could eat (and I can eat a lot!) We were given an accurate prep time estimate, and we all enjoyed our dishes.
Only takeout.
Delicious food. Always ready quickly and has some of the nicest owners :) I try to go at least once a month for their crab rangoon!
An excellent place for Thai or Laotian cuisine. I only had their beef jerky appetizer and then their sticky rice. Both were made to perfection and I'm interested in knowing how they seasoned their jerky as it wasn't too dry or too moist and had a nice sweetness while still being savory. The sticky was was perfectly made. There's plenty of items I'll now want to try if I come back to this area. The staff are polite and professional. They are following current Covid guidelines. Recommended.
Amazing food!!! Fresh and delicious!! Great portions
Late. Wrong order. No utensils for carry out.
Try the Panang with shrimp if you like coconut curry b
Had pork fried rice, it was delicious. The meat sizes was a little too big for me in though, I like my meat in fried rice chopped small but flavor was very good. Also had crab rangoon and it was delish.
Good takeout Thai food. Medium spice was just right. We had coconut curry soup with noodles and vegetables and curry squash with shrimp. The noodles were basically the same as Ramen noodles, but were good if you like Ramen!

Drunken Noodle과 Curry Squash 둘다 맛있게 먹었다. 양이 많다. 23년 2월 기준 가게 안에서는 못먹고 테이크아웃만 된다.
I got fried rice, super delicious and it was ready to be picked up in 10 minutes. Great food, great service. 10/10 will eat there again
This place was pretty darn good! I took a small group with me and we all enjoyed our food. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean.
Amazing food and large portions! I ordered an extra large chicken pad thai and probably had enough for three meals. I ordered spicy which was pretty hot, just a heads up!
Rising Sons has been a standout for Laotian and Thai cuisine in the Madison-area for many years. I’ve been getting food from them for many years. Seeing them open a location in Verona, closer to my home, is a gift! Owners Ken and Be, with rest of their family (including their 4 Rising Sons), do an amazing job at delivering a consistently high-quality meal with home-cooked feelings. Veggie spring rolls are very fresh! Keng Keow Vane (green curry) has incredible flavor. For the adventurous? Try the roast duck. Yum all around!
Very respectful, seem like good people
Couldn't order because during business hours posted it was closed.
Tom Kha soup was bland & had no galangal & sparse lemongrass, and was sweet - not at all what I would expect. Pho was not super flavorful, but the beef was tender. Spring roll noodles were mushy. In my experience Thai food is bright and flavorful and fresh, this was not.
Absolutely obsessed! This is the BEST laotian food I have had in the Madison area! As I walked in to pick my food up, a couple was raving about how good it was to the chefs and seriously it did not disappoint! The crab rangoons are to die for, tastes freshly made and perfect ratio through out. Seriously if I could give this 6 stars I would, the staff was nice and friendly my only mistake was not sitting down and eating my meal there. Really loved it and I will definitely be back!
Incredible place with wonderful recipes, take it from me, you will enjoy it !
I got the pad Thai and it was so good! It definitely satisfied my craving. The peanuts could’ve been a bit more finely chopped (this is a bonus if you like peanuts though,) it could’ve used a bit more spice, I would’ve liked if the egg was more intact as it was very chopped up, also could’ve used a piece or two more of chicken in my opinion 😄(i don’t mean to be very critical, these are just the things that could be better). The amount of pad Thai I got was amazing! Plenty for later. The only real downside was how my gut reacted to it. If you have IBS or some other gastrointestinal condition, just be ready. This might also just be because I’m VERY white 😂. Overall I’d rate it a 4.5 stars if I could, only taking that .5 star off because of the lack of fried egg, which is one of my favorite parts about pad Thai 😊
worse Pad thai ever! No flavor. Didn't make it to order.
Great Thai food, friendly family owned business
Best Thai food on the west side
Love their spring rolls!
I've ordered takeout from them and have not had a bad meal. It's family owned, so always great to help a local business.
This place is AMAZING. Super great egg rolls, noodles, and curries. Everything. My husband loves drunken noodles and these were his favorite ever. My favorite thing was that the meat was all really high quality. The Thai coffee was great as well! We got several dishes overall for our 5 kids to share and try new things. Pad c ew, fried rice, panang (which was a little too spicy for them so we got to eat it instead). We got so much, someone helped my husband carry out our order, so super kind and friendly staff as well.
The XL size is a standard Styrofoam carry out box F U L L! The regular size is a standard black carry out/meal plan container.
TLDR: Great value, great taste, great quality!
If you could not find any other Asian cuisine near by then this could be the place. I ordered pad Thai and spring rolls. They were sub par to say the least. However, the owner was nice and polite. You could not dine in but only carried out because it seemed that this place still had the COVID ban from eating inside the restaurant.
I have been craving Tom Yum and was not disappointed. Looking forward to a return trip now that I know this place is here.
Amazing. Best eats in Verona, hands down. I have been a big fan since they had a madison west side location next to the Dean hospital. Everything on their menu is absolutely delicious and they probably have the best soup in the city (Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup).
Seriously, being close to this place was actually a selling point on making an offer on a house nearby (we ended up moving into another one that was pretty close).
Their Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao are consistently excellent and I will be ordering those weekly as long as they're around.
Delicious, friendly, and worth every penny.
Great food made by a family run business. Always nice to get great food with a friendly greeting.
It was average. Drunken noodles needed a little more flavor (soy or spice). The squash curry lacked flavor and "body". It was so watery that the brine from the baby corn and bamboo shots was the over riding flavor. The squash was raw. Portions were big.
Tried this place for first time on a Saturday, we ALL loved our food! Portions are big, we ordered Pad Thai's, Drunken Noodle, and a curry dish. ALL were Excellent! Staff very friendly and order was ready on time. They ask what level of spice you prefer, we were all happy with what we got. Will definitely be back!
Decent but could be better.
good thai food for a small town. the laotian food was something new.
Friendly service, delicious food, generous portions, reasonable prices. What more could I ask for?
The food here is absolutely amazing, a must eat place if you are in the area.
Had the chicken, squash curry. With Papaya salad. Tasted homemade. Enjoyed immensley.
The food is outstanding! Fresh & lots of vegitables!
The papaya salad was so so good. We will be back.
Great food. Fast service
The food is very fresh and delicious! I love the variety of options, and I always try something new when I order.
My favorite take out place, I’m so thankful I live in Verona LOL
I moved here from Michigan and had been craving my friend’s papaya salad for MONTHS. Her family owns a Laotian restaurant and I wasn’t able to find anything similar to it until I came here! I literally crave it at least once a week, RIP my wallet but I happily fork it over for their amazing food
So good and not greasy like a lot of Thai places in Madison
Food is authentic. Very pleased and will order again!
Excellent food - love the chicken curry!
We tried the spring rolls and a couple of the curry dishes. They were fresh, flavorful and just delicious.
Delicious food!
Had takeout from the Verona location and it was amazing. The food was very fresh and tasty. We had the appetizer sampler and the pad Thai. Both were awesome. Will definitely get food from them again.
