This place is a hidden gem! Haven’t had such delicious Thai food in a long time. Great service including built into the price other courses for dining in like chicken and rice soup and watermelon for dessert. Lots of variety on the menu and other dishes I would’ve loved to try also. Decent pricing and generous portions. We ordered the fresh rolls that came with a phenomenal/delicious sauce with peanuts. I ordered cashew chicken that had such great depth of flavor in the sauce! My friend ordered pad Thai and it was also SO good. Great decorations and hole-in-the-wall hidden gem vibes in a good way (you would t expect it from the outside but don’t be deterred!). Only negative was they could use sprucing up the bathroom a little. But I’ll definitely be coming back here when I’m back in town! ❤️
Ok, this place punches all the tickets! Food is amazing, service is prime, prices are reasonable, and restaurant is clean. Ordered a mild pad Thai with tofu and it was to die for. Fresh ingredients, tasty!, and a decent portion (saved half for dinner, so easily two can eat out of one plate). Don’t let the area discourage you from trying. It looks kinda sketchy, but once in, it feels pretty safe. I’m a fan!
Amazing Thai food!
The Mango Curry will put you in a trance of flavor and texture. A very unique dish that I have not seen in any other Thai restaurant.
Fresh rolls were refreshing and not too filling.
The main dishes came in hefty portions, so come hungry unless you want to take some home!
Also, they have an axolotl in their fish tank. It’s not empty 🦎
FYI, they are renovating, and there is an off-putting smell right as you walk in/in the restrooms. Once the renovation is done, I think they'll be an amazing dine in location. For our visit, the service was great, which is why I am still rating them very highly. A customer who was there before us said she saw a bug, but I didn't see anything 🤷🏻♀️
Onto the review:
The service was great. Our waitress was polite and attentive. She knew the menu very well and helped us make selections.
We got the black sticky rice as a substitute for regular white rice with mango. It was very good, and the mango was fresh. We also got a mango salad, which was something I had never heard of before. It was interesting. The two shrimp on top were huge! I always get papaya salad, and theirs was delicious. We got Thai dumplings, my partner liked the filling and I really liked the dipping sauce. We also got the drunken noodles, and while they were a bit sweet for my liking, they were still pretty good.
Overall, I really liked this place. Everything was fresh and tasted good. I can't wait to see what they look like all renovated.
We are stuffed and happy. We came on a Friday night. I had a cup of Tom Yum soup with tofu, basil fried rice with red pork. The rest of us had Wild Siamese, Crispy Duck with Thai Sauce, Thai Coffee, Crab Fried Rice, and the soup of the day, which was like chicken noodle soup congregation. Our food came quickly and was delicious
Great food
Great service and very consistent food quality. Always a winner.
The food I order online was terrible only the sticky rice was great the Tom Yum Goong is too sour and the pork was supposed to be fired
Walked in, smelled like sewer, walked out.
I didn't eat there. I just wanted to see what it was like inside, very clean. I'll go to see how the food is at a later time because I like Thai food.
This is my favorite restaurant in my area. Delicious Pad Thai, amazing customer service, HUGE portions. You’ll never leave this place hungry. The food is always so good. My absolute favorite.
What an amazing experience
The ambience is inviting yet peaceful, beautiful decorations
I love the food, it’s both cheap and tasty
Asked a coworker where to get some solid Thai food. Pointed me to Sawasdee. Did not disappoint. The green curry was amazing and the service was on spot.
Now I now what FRESHLY made crab Rangoon tastes like! No comparison. This place has the creaminess filling ever! Everything was hot and made to order. The red curry (mild) was so flavorful. I appreciated that they kept Chilli oil on the table so I could modify my heat level with each bite! Service was excellent. Will definitely xomw again.
I've come here a few times for lunch and dinner and the service is always very friendly and fast.
Never disappointed. Always high quality food.
Service and food really good !!!!
Overall, a decent choice for takeout. I appreciated the option to get dark meat chicken. The portions were good. The red curry was pretty beige compared to others I’ve had—if the kitchen is using packaged curry paste rather than making it from scratch, adding more coconut milk may be the only way for them to make a dish mild. Kudos for not watering it down, though. It was very thick and creamy. The rice that came with the curry threw me off. It wasn’t jasmine rice. The texture and aroma was that of generic white rice. Perhaps you need to specifically request jasmine if you expect that at a Thai restaurant. To end on a positive note, the complimentary soup with rice, ground chicken and scallions was tastier than expected.
This is possibly the best Thai food I've had, ever!
Without a doubt, the best Thai food in the area, I’ve tried it twice now and have been greatly pleased both times
Please look no where else
It is a little pricey but the portion sizes are fantastic
Our server’s name was Munwoo (I hope I spelt that right) and he was just delightful
After ordering my food, he told me it would be ready in 10 minutes and after 10 minutes passed, he loudly told me that I had to wait another 15 minutes and told me to start arguing and he said cancel order
Big Portions probably too big but it was great
Very good place to eat!
Fantastic meal. Great eats.
Alright. I've eaten at this place for five years and they never disappoint. Their crab ragoons are the best!!! Their chicken dishes are large strips of all white meat chicken. Just ordered another very large delivery tonight and evening was wonderful!! Thank you!!

Pad Thai is hands down the worst I’ve ever had, the whole dish tastes of nothing, cardboard and red pepper flakes on chicken and that was with the “Hot” option. Absolute waste of $15.
Everything else? Good. Drunken noodle? Good. Rangoon? Good. Thai egg roll? Good. Mango sticky rice? Yep.
Amazing Thai food!

Nu Nu is the best!!!
Always delicious, very nice staff.
We were visiting the Virginia Beach area and did not really know what to expect from this restaurant. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the host and quickly seated. We came in at an off hour so it was not too crowded.
The facility appear to be very clean and well kept. The decor was inviting. They rapidly provided us with water and gave us a few minutes to peruse The Fairly extensive menu. We decided on the pad thai and the green curry. We also decided on the appetizer combo.
I ordered a Thai beer which they brought out with a chilled can and a Frosted Mug which was a nice touch.
The appetizers were delicious. They were crisp when they were supposed to be crisp they were full and succulent when they were supposed to be that way and every single item was full of flavor. The entrées themselves soon followed and were quite large. We had underestimated how large the serving sizes would be.
The Pad Thai was tasty and not overly sweet or salty. It was perfectly seasoned in my opinion and we had requested hot which was appropriate level of spiciness for us.
The green curry was similarly and very delicious and well seasoned period I'm going to Thai places seem to overdo it but this one was well done and full of flavor yet not hitting you over the head with it. Again the portions were large and we ended up taking at least half of both items home because we were so full.
When we did eat the doggy bag portions at home 2 days later, both items were just as tasty. Highly I highly recommend this place as you will get excellent service and delicious food.
Ordered pineapple pad thai. No flavor! Haven’t found a decent “thai” restaurant in VA.
Very good pad thai, quick and friendly service. The "large" portion is huge! Order it hot!
Love this place. No wait for call in orders and when I dine in the same.
Food is awesome!
My family and I just ate here this evening for the first time. The service was great from beginning to end. My family and I all loved our meal with plenty to take home. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful meal!
The food is really really good! I had the red curry with chicken and it was bursting with flavor
Date night with hubby, and I wanted Thai. I'm glad we found this little gem. I had Chicken Cashew Nut and hubby had spicy Pad Thai, and it was excellent. Plenty of food for lunch tomorrow. Will add to my favorites. Was wondering a little when there weren't a lot of people, but after sitting for 5 minutes watching the steady stream of take out orders, I realized how popular this place must really be.
Yo, Sawasdee Thai, bringing the heat,
Uber Eats on the beat, delivery fleet.
Racing the clock, streets they sweep,
Bringing me dishes that make my heart leap.
Rolls so fresh, chicken’s a treat,
Eggplant stir-fry, tofu can’t be beat.
Customize my meal, spice just right,
Vegetables galore, a delightful sight.
Generous portions, flavors so bold,
Every dish served, a story untold.
Freshness locked in, every single fold,
Sawasdee’s magic, joy to behold.
So here I rhyme, feeling complete,
With Thai cuisine that none can defeat.
Sawasdee’s wonder, oh so neat,
In every bite, my happiness greets.
One of my favorite Thai spots in Hampton Roads.
Absolutely amazing food! Every single thing I've ordered there was delicious. And most items are sized for two! Or taking home for lunch the next day.
Excellent Thai restaurant in Norfolk! The food is delicious and has generous portion sizes. The staff are very polite, kind, and efficient. Highly recommend.
We got takeout and it was fantastic!
I have been to Sawasdee three times now and each time has been delicious. I ordered different food each time and it just continues to be outstanding. Good atmosphere and nice staff. The food really is the star of the show though.
Hours are wrong on Google.
Ordered via Uber eats. Food came hot and delicious. But to whoever angrily topped my husbands food with extra nuts…. THANK YOU! Because every time he ordered extra before he said it still wasn’t enough 😂
He finally said it was enough! So thank you for your passive aggressive act of kindness
I ordered the shrimp pad Thai(2 of them)I’m not sure if it was me or the restaurant, but I could not enjoy the food. Though the portion size of the noodles are generous, one of my boxes came with maybe 4-5 shrimp. To clarify again, it could be that I personally do not like pad Thai, I do prefer drunken noodles, but it could be the restaurants style. I hope everything else in the restaurant is very good though.
Absolutely the best!! This place never disappoints every time we go I wonder why I waited so long even if it was only a day or two! Lol
Barely any customer service, the food was okay though
Wonderful service and extrodinary food. With a visit
As always the food is great! I've been trying to order something different every time. But I have to have my dessert of the mango sticky rice. They're corn chowder soup is the best that I have tasted. It's a small Mom and Pop restaurant that treats you very nice and are very friendly and want to make sure that you have a great meal. We have been there several times over the years and will return.
Sweetest green curry I've ever had, very nice service esthetically calm dining perfect for being caught in the rain.
Everything was lovely, from the food to the staff, great Thai food!
I’ve ordered Sawasdee through UberEats twice now. It’s delicious. The green curry was my favorite. We also had the crab rangoon, tom yum soup, pad see ew, and drunken noodles. The medium spice has a good kick. The vegetables were fresh. The only criticism I have is that they could chop their meats, tofu, and veggies slightly smaller.
Everything is delicious but the curry dumplings are a unique treat!
It was quite expensive for Thai food. Pad Thai was very good, but enough for three people and asking for shrimp added another 25% to cost that I was not aware of. Won Ton soup was easily the best, by far, of any I've ever had, but order the small size.
Great food and excellent customer service
The best!!
Earlier today, my husband and I mutually agreed to order some food from Sawasdee Thai Cuisine (the Virginia Beach boulevard Military Highway Norfolk Virginia location) via grubhub. The driver had a pleasant friendly demeanor and delivered our food in a very reasonable timeframe. My husband enjoyed his Massaman curry dish and allowed me to have some bites of this dish which I can easily understand why he liked this curry dish. We both shared and enjoyed some potstickers. I found the tropical fried rice dish to be extremely yummy (which is listed on their online menu to come with wok fried jasmine rice with shrimp chicken egg pineapple raisins onions and cashew). I admit that I felt both that the portions of the tropical fried rice I received were very generous and the mix of raisins and pineapples greatly enhanced the dish. Much to my pleasant surprise, there was more than enough of the generous portion amount of Tropical Fried Rice to save for my hubby to consume for another day because the amount I received can easily feed at least 2 people. The chocolate mousse cake had the perfect mix of moistness and sweetness. Overal I am glad both that my husband enjoyed his food and I felt that ordering from their today definitely was worth the money (with gratitude intent, I feel lucky to have been able to pay for the food with money made from my current place of employment).
NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!
I ordered Pad thai, pad see ew, and oreo mousse cake.
Pad thai was bland, soggy overcooked noodles
Pad see ew also bland, mushroom and broccoli was not cooked AT ALL. Top part of noddles are crispy and the sauce were everywhere out the container but the noodles.
Biggest Issue, they served expired oreo mousse cake. Which I am demanding a full refund.
used to be better had the pad thai and sauce was thick no vegetables very little egg - we did not could not finish. Have had a lot better from there before.
I’ve visited this restaurant a few times during my lunch break. They always provide great service however, the food is just average. The serving sizes are generous.

There's a problem when one of your dishes is $20
First time trying this restaurant it cost a little more than I normally would pay but came with more food
Food was amazing but with that being said it was about $20 for chicken pad thai.
The portion was healthy and it was amazing but it was basically just noodles and not very much chicken, and for that price point, to me it should be covered in chicken.
That is my only complaint.
P.S. this place was a lot cheaper prior to COVID, but the lack of meat/price point is where I find a problem.
The best thaifood i ever eat here the service so friendly and there’s family, very good for me
The food and establishment is successful because of its mananagment! It's always a very beautiful a experience! Thank you! 😊
Had the Thai beef salad, garlic pork and holy basil with beef. The beef is not tender. The pork was. They gave us a free beef stew while we waited. Also had the curry puffs. The flavor in the garlic and holy basil dishes were good.
Also had the Thai tea which was the best I've had. The tea is not too strong and everything balanced well together.
The food was delicious. A little sweet. I asked for Thai hot and it really wasn't hot enough. Their souce tray was also kinda weak. No variety of Thai peppers. Just chili oil and crushed Thai pepper in lime and fish sauce and dried crushed chili's.
They gave a free beef stew to start. Had the curry puffs, holy basil with beef, garlic dish with pork, Thai beef salad. The Thai tea was the best I had. The tea was not too strong and it blended well with the coconut milk.
Great food and large portions. A little expensive but you'll have leftovers for days. Definitely will eat/order from here again
Went while visiting the area. The food was really delicious! The service was ok, nothing special, HOWEVER, I did witness them give a homeless guy free food without any questions. I have never seen this done before except on YouTube.
The food was spiced so well here. Pad see ew moderate spice leaves a nice heat after each bite. The fried tofu has great texture and added to both dishes we had was good. Highly recommend. Service was good, nice staff. Convenient location.
It's very pleasant when the guy chris is up front . He actually knows the guest even if they don't come for months. He's very friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone else that's been up front was less than pleasant or even welcoming. If Chris is off I won't go.
Delicious drunken noodles with added pork, large serving and cooked perfectly
Absolutely delicious!!
All I can say is thai iced tea, thai iced tea! It was absolutely delicious and a wonderful first experience. Almost went back the next day and ordered a half gallon. Everything was prepared quickly, and the portion size was perfect, almost too much, actually. The fried meatballs were not my favorite, but everything else was spectacular.
Excellent service. Very good menu selection and specials. Reasonable pricing and very traditional and clean ambience to the place. Had a very brisk take out service while we were dining there.
I do DoorDash and Uber eats and I pick up here every now and again the dude that works there. He's really cool and I'm dying to try the food my wife and I love Thai food
Really good. Got the pad Thai, chicken satay and mango sticky rice. Everything had great taste, this is my new favorite spot!
I gave this restaurant a try at lunch based on other Google reviews. Boy, am I glad I did. The place is not much to look at inside or outside but the food is outstanding! We had Chicken with Basil and Pork Masuman Curry. Both quality and quantity were exceptional - among the best I've had - and I have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants.
Sooo good!! Everything I've had is amazing
Great portions and flavors. Sometimes skimp out on the vegetables which I would hope wouldn't be the case for a $17-20 plate, but otherwise consistently solid. Come like twice a month. Crab rangoons, curry puffs, and dumplings are all delicious. Every noodle, rice, or curry entree and soup I've had has been great, minus some of the times they skimp out on the vegetables. Tried the black sweet sticky rice the other day and it was amazing!
My wife and I had dinner here. Service was good and fast. The food was very bland but otherwise good.
We were to go orders. The food was enough for 2-3 days, the food was great.
Have been a couple of times for lunch, the food is excellent, best Thai I've had in the area in a long time. The service was friendly and efficient, dining room clean and bright. Highly recommended.
Driver was very polite and food carefully delivered. Delivery was on-time and food NOT spilled all over. Packaged very neatly. Ordered the Pad Thai with fried tofu and extra veggies at a med heat ( ordered single portion but will last atleast 2 more meals. ) Mango sticky rice, and Thia egg rolls. Very delicious. Everything was on point! Happy with the cost of my food. Well worth it.
Service was very good 👍 food was delicious and hot.
Had sampler platter, fried tofu and shrimp tom kha soup and all wonderful. Will return for the fine service too with lovely presentation.
I've been meaning to try this place when we moved closer but never had the chance to. Thankfully, Uber Eats had a Buy One Get One (BOGO) deal for the restaurant so I said, "why not?" I ordered the BOGO pad thai and two mega sized Thai tea because my wife and I love Thai tea.
Pad thai served was a LOT. You get your money's worth with the amount... except for the taste. I've tasted a way better pad thai elsewhere. 5 stars for the very good portions and -2 for the taste. They also have a Mega sized thai tea which was definitely a good option if you like Thai tea
Sincerely the BEST Thai in the Hampton Roads. I have tried it all around here and you guys them all, head over shoulders above. Not only that but the portions offered are such a great value for the price. I even will admit that this place has the BEST rangoons in the Hampton Roads. And i have been to almost all Asian Cuisine restaurants around here. Absolutely worth a try to all.
Crab Rangoon was just delightful. Pad Thai equally on point. What a wonderful experience.
