Makmak is an absolute gem. Darling small establishment. Several small tables give this space a cozy intimate vibe. The decor is just right- minimal pieces with clean lines, high contrast. The staff is friendly and joyful while exhibiting excellent team work. We saw them handle a rush of patrons, balancing food deliveries smoothly, and keeping every table cleaned and ready for the next party.

We started with two of the hand made Nadda's egg rolls. They are perfectly crisp- flavorfully filled with veggies, meat, and rice noodles. Flavorful enough without a dipping sauce, but the sweet chili sauce is good too.
We ordered the Massaman Curry with Beef and the Mak Mak Nam Tok. The curry was perfectly seasoned, tender veggies, and melt in your mouth beef that was out of this world. The Nam Tok was one of the most delightful flavors of fried chicken ever. It has citrus notes that evoke a brightness of flavor without overpowering the other seasonings of the fried chicken pieces. The accompaniments of pickled red onions and sliced cucumbers added hints of flavor and texture without detracting from the fabulous chicken.
Do not pass up this quaint little stop. Worth every penny.

This was good for a casual Friday night dinner. The Thai food was tasty. Their heat levels are 0,1,or2. Level one was enough to make my nose run but not burn my lips. You'll have to judge. The ambiance is casual, tight, and maybe a bit noisy. There are a few outdoor dining tables. Plenty of parking on the sides and street in Fri t of the restaurant.

Excellent food and a nice clean environment. The girl up front has really knowledgeable about the different dishes. We had the Drunken Noodles and the Pad Thai. Both of which were big portions. The vegetables in the Drunken noodles were perfectly cooked. (Sometimes those can be mushy). And we loved the crispy egg rolls so much during our meal, we ordered some more! Excellent experience here and will definitely come back. And on a side note, no tip was requested at the point of ordering. They have a cute little sign that says “skip the tip and leave a review”. How refreshing!

My friend got the massaman curry and I got the drunken noodles. Both were great! Everything was fresh, I especially loved the vegetables in my noodles.

My 2 girls have Celiac and I have a gluten allergy. We came here with my husband. They were very thorough in making sure that our meals were cooked separately. All their sauces are gluten free so there is no worry that the wrong sauce is being put on it. The food is delicious and very fresh! Everything is cooked fresh and comes out piping hot. We had the pad Thai noodles, fried rice, and massaman curry. I would definitely come back! Thanks for making delicious gluten free options that are safe for celiacs.

We tried the pad see ew and I liked it, I just wish the portion had been a little bit bigger. It has a good flavor and I liked the tofu in it. My wife got an acai bowl and it was quite large for the price and tasty as well.

We tried the drunken noodles, pad thai, yellow curry and the egg rolls. They were all so delicious! This was my first time having drunken noodles and I think i preferred it over the pad thai! It was more of a savory flavor instead of sweet! It had cabbage, broccoli, carrots, onions and garlic with chicken and egg noodles. It was so flavorful and delicious! The pad Thai tasted really good as well but i thought it was a bit more bland. The yellow curry was also pretty good with a bit of kick to it even on 0 spice rating, it was yummy! The egg rolls were also really good and flavorful. They came with some sauce and were so fresh and crispy. These are my favorite egg rolls I have had anywhere. My favorite dishes here were the drunken noodles and the egg rolls. The service was also friendly and the restaurant was nice and modern. I highly recommend this spot and look forward to returning someday!

If you want that authentic Thai food experience, hit up Mak Mak. I tried the Massaman, pad thai, yellow curry and the egg roles.... not your typical egg roll btw! Can't wait to go back.

Mak Mak is a hole in the wall place that all Thai food lovers should know and experience. Their Massaman curry is one of the best I have had yet and can't wait to go and get more. Really creamy curry with fast service, and clean tables. Unfortunately there is a 6-inch step to the front door that makes wheelchair access problematic.

Food was yummy and the causal vibe was good. We got the mak mak chicken and drunken noodles. Both were delicious. The medium spice level was not spicy at all, which was the only disappointment. The mak mak chicken had a nice lime flavor. Overall 4.5 stars since the price is comparable to the nicer Thai places in town. We will be coming here again.

Had the Pad Gra Pow. One word. Tasteless.. green beans did not taste like green beans so it tasted “funny”

This is our go-to Thai place for flavor and price. It’s more expensive than fast food, but definitely less than you’d spend at a fancy Thai restaurant, which matches the more laid-back and casual atmosphere. We love doing the weekday “Happy Hour” lunch special, which offers a limited selection of entrees with a drink and egg roll. Serious bang for buck (Monday-Friday, 1:00pm — 4:00pm).

We’ve yet to have a negative experience here. Our favorite dishes are the Massaman Curry and the Dry Khao Soi. If you’re in the area and not feeling fast food, give this place a try. It’s delicious.

I had the pad thai, it was pretty good, tasted low on sodium. It's somewhat bland missing some flavor, could probably incorporate some spices. The thai iced tea is not fantastic, unless you really like tea, could be sweeter or they could at least have the option. They could benefit from introducing Thai iced coffee, which I personally like. The mango sticky rice is really good, probably the best thing I had. Overall Not really worth the price, but the quality of the food is reasonable for the restaurant.

We were super excited to try this restaurant but they didn’t ask us what spicy level we wanted. The food ended up being way too spicy for my family. None of the kids could eat and we had to run over to another restaurant to buy them second dinner. It was an unfortunate experience. Khao Soi was good (despite being too spicy for us) but pad thai was probably the worst one we had UT. Drunken noodle was just ok.

The food here was amazing! Highly recommend everything here but if I had to choose one dish the Khao Soi is a phenomenal choice. It is a delicious spicy coconut curry with perfectly seasoned crunchy fried chicken on top.

Great costumer service and sooo freaking good food! I love it

The yellow curry with chicken was really good and when I accidentally spilled a Coke they cleaned it up quick without giving me a guilt trip. But perhaps most importantly, they're a counter service restaurant that programmed their iPad to not ask for a tip! I'd go back just for that reason alone.

A GREAT Thai place in Bountiful. I had the drunken noodles, which were good, but the massaman curry and Nana's eggrolls were on another level (big thanks to my wife for letting me try it)!

It's a family owned and operated, and there's some serious dedication there. As the owner was checking on guests, I heard him talking with a couple and them thanking him for making their food special (less spicy in this case) for them.

Pricing is fair in a post-inflation economy.

They appreciate tips, but don't seem to expect them, which is also becoming more of an exceptional thing these days.

I hope this place stays around for a long time!

Very hit and miss. One day amazing. One day very undercooked noodles. The next... using some type of.awdul citric acid powder instead of lime juice. The next time really good curry. The next zero carrots in the whole dish...

Some staff are very accommodating and will remake the food. Others kinda shrug and more onto the next guest. I've got probably one more shot at this place... cause I want to love it. Consistency is key!

Great noodles! The sauces are the star of their dishes. The breaded pork is perfectly cooked. Tender and extremely juicy all at the same time.

I've been a few times and the food is great and the service is fantastic. However I did take a star away due to not having the special for lunch anymore. But if you can go between 1-4 for what is now a happy hour that is a great deal.

The food is terrific. We had yellow curry. Maybe the best I have had. It is a little spicy, which I loved but some people might think too spicy. The fried rice is very good. Flavor is great and prominent veggies and chicken. The Larb is very good—a cold rice and chicken dish with a sweet spicy flavor. I am coming back.

I'm half Thai and I can honestly say the food is amazing and tastes just like Mom's! The atmosphere is so cheery and vibrant, they have outside seating as well as the air conditioned indoor seating. The Khao Soi was delicious, the mango sticky rice was awesome. The owners are so sweet and amazing and legit Thai, their story is so cool. I cannot recommend this place more! 10/10 will come back.
Update 10/1/24 - the only issue I have with this place is the fact that the front counter kids taking your order have no idea what's in the food. I have a shellfish allergy and despite the "shellfish allergy" checkbox on the online ordering, I asked one of the kids working up front what that does if I check it, they had no idea. Every time we go in and ask if a new dish has oyster sauce, they have no idea. They need to train the front desk staff better. It would suck if someone has to go into anaphylactic shock before the front gets better training. I get the impression they don't even remove the oyster sauce if you request shellfish allergy, so why have that option? I've also gotten conflicting responses to that question from different front desk kids, seems like if you have only 8 dishes that should be an easy and consistent answer to the question
