Dining in is pretty good but DO NOT ORDER TO GO! I have ordered pick up orders many time and EVERYTIME something is missing or wrong, this time I got a only half of my sushi I ordered and it's not even cut. I understand if this were to happen occasionally but of the +6 I've ordered pick up, every time I'm missing something or they half ass it so if you want to eat here dine, now when I want to eat here and I know they close in an hour I will be dining in instead of ordering pickup! For the price of the food I expect better

The food is straight up π₯, and just like my pad Thai was also π₯. I asked for it hot and they obliged. You can order the food 1-5 on the peper scale - I ordered 4 and my face was ready to melt. I loved it. You can order any way you like. It is authentic, most of the gals working there are Thai or Japanese.
Great place, try the crab ragoon or chicken satay for a delicious apps
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. I've been coming here for a year to pick up takeout and to eat in. The dish is flavorful and incredibly excellent. Every time, the meal is served really quickly. Excellent cuisine; the entire menu is worth sampling, but the curry and pad thai are my personal favorites. Good hospitality is shown. Friendly staff provides excellent client service. Love getting takeout or a quick bite here. Unquestionably a fantastic spot for Thai food.
Update: there new location is awesome, lots more room but still the same friendly staff and amazing food
I visited this lovely restaurant with my family on Father's Day. It was the only place with plenty of parking, and it offered a variety of food options including Thai and Japanese cuisine, vegan food, and items for kids. The food was AMAZING! Even my father-in-law, who is a professional cook and usually very selective about what he eats, loved it and didn't send anything back or complain! Additionally, unlike other restaurants, they accepted reservations, which was a huge plus for us, especially on Father's Day. They even accommodated our group of 9 people by moving our reservation to an hour earlier and were still ready for us. I tried the tofu yakisoba and it was fantastic! My son loved the potstickers and rice. I can't wait to return and try the rest of the menu!
The food was hot and delicious.
The service was excellent; very attentive and knowledgeable.
Very, very clean and comfortable atmosphere.
The only unfortunate business process was that they charge a percentage of you pay using debit/credit card. If you pay using cash is not an issue.
I will be a returning customer paying with cash.
Really good Thai. The Drunken Noodles were tasty. I went with level 5 spice and it was just enough heat without going overboard. I like spicy food though.
We were here the night before Thanksgiving and it was fairly crowded. The reason I took a star away is because they just didn't handle it well. We waited up front for maybe 5-10 minutes with a few other groups before anyone even asked how many were in each party. Then they didn't come back again for another 5-10 minutes. The service didn't get much better once we finally did get a table. Maybe just a bad night.
2024 update
Location moved a couple/few years ago. New space is really nice and clean. Maybe not as much charm, but the old place has obviously been well lived.
Fantastic food and great, quick service

Had the best drunken noodles of my life tonight.
πππππ
Wonderful
Food was delicious. The server was so kind and very attentive. I got the pad see eue and it was perfect. The rest of my table all loved their meals. The Thai ice tea is so good!

Service was wonderful. Food was great. Had lunch menu drunken noodles. Wife had spicy basil chicken. Lunch comes with soup and egg rolls. All was delicious. Will return.
Food was AMAZING! Also, as someone with food allergies, i especially appreciated the menu clarity of what dishes contained allergens and what they were! Very helpful.
BEST Red curry I have ever tasted. Great restaurant. Clean and friendly.
One of our favorite places. Good and fast every time. Friendly staff
The Thai curry was good. The Thai green papaya salad was good. No idea about the sushi.
My favorite place for Tom Yum Noodle Soup!
We were a group of 12 and everyone enjoyed their food. The waiter was very polite and explained the menu when individuals had questions. Some of our friends attempted to eat a little hotter spice and struggled with the spice they probably shouldnβt have requested the hotter level of spice. Overall we all enjoyed our experience and definitely will be returning. We went to the Zen Thai on a Sunday afternoon.
Yum yum yum, I have ordered delivery from here a few times but never have been in person. I have always liked everything I order and I have never been disappointed! This was no exception!
Always great food at a great price!
Delicious, extensive menu
Always a good experience here. We love this place. If they add fresh Thai spring roll to menu they will be perfect.

Location moved a couple/few years ago. New space is really nice and clean. Maybe not as much charm, but the old place has obviously been well lived.
Service is great, crab Rangoon is good. I do not recommend the sushi. It was the first time I ever left uneaten sushi on a plate (4 pieces), and now my stomach is definitely not right. Maybe the other dishes are good? I'm guessing that's the case because it was fairly busy on a Sunday afternoon which is usually a good sign.
Before the move to the current location, ZenSTL was amazing.. amazing food at a decent price. Loved it!
Since the move, prices have almost doubled, and the wait staff does not listen to what I'm ordering.
I have no intention of coming back, anytime soon.
Love the new location! Beautiful dining room. I tried the Tom Yum noodles, and they were delicious. My friends were very happy with their entrees too. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Zen Thai never disappoints.
The food was average, the service was good.
I love the new location and the staff were so nice, so friendly and welcoming. My family and I will continue to support.
A special thanks to Divya for being a rockstar.
Thank you all for spreading your joy.
Amazing food! We are huge pad thai fans and the chicken pad thai exceeded our expectations! The Zen roll was incredible too! We ordered online and our food was done in no time⦠The atmosphere inside was great and everyone greeted us with a smile!
Love the new location! Space is much bigger. Food was delicious, and everyone was really nice.
The fried rice tasted like yellow saffron rice from a box and the chicken was spongy.
Food was ok. Service was ok. I have had much better
Not good for vegans.
This restraunt specifically labels itself as vegan friendly but then has milk in many dishes traditionally lactose free... I think this is the least vegan friendly thai place I've been to.
Their 5 thai spice is also closer to a 2.
Fish tank is nice.
I love Zen Thai. It's always clean, has delicious food and fabulous service.
Had not been in since they relocated and wow...somehow the move improved on everything. Love this spot.
Simply the most delicious Thai offerings served with consistent excellence in taste, quality ingredients, and service. The. Best.
Been going here for years, good food and friendly staff. Sushi, Japanese and Thai, beer and sake available as well
This has become a favorite lunch spot the past 6 months. Delicious food, and the food is offered spicy on a scale of 1-5. And 5 is absolute fire π₯
Great prices, great food!
Food is delicious! Curry puffs, dumplings, and egg rolls for appetizers, drunken noodles for dinner. Service and cuisine are both excellent. Highly recommended.
Elena, petch, divya, thanaphat, best, may, pun, kanita, jimmy, autumn, matthew are the best and will give you good food fast
Did a take out order with sampler appetizers which were very dark as they were left in the fryer too long and were tough. Also my part of the order chicken katsu don did not have any of the katsu sauce so I ended up with dry over fried chicken and dried rice - it was awful!! Did they get a different chef? This is the first time Iβve gotten such bad food and probably will not order from them again.
Service was great, the iced tea is great, the spicy food has good flavor rather than just being hot, although i wish there was a bit more decor. It feels a little blank inside, i think it could use a couple of tall pots or something. Otherwise this place is great and you should order their sushimi, the fish is amazing
Food was pretty good, although it gave my wife and son pretty gnarly diarrhea a couple of hours after we ate
Food at Zen is fantastic between the crab rangoon and curry puffs for the appetizer and the main course of green curry, pad thai, bbq dish, and sushi this place doesn't disappoint. Will be back again.
Drove by and saw it so decided to check it out, glad we did it was delicious!! Will be back for sure
DELICIOUS! Everything is so tasty and price is right! We didn't have to wait for long, then the food was served. The owners Paul and Pan were so nice. Excellent food and customer service
I visited this lovely restaurant with my family on Father's Day. It was the only place with plenty of parking, and it offered a variety of food options including Thai and Japanese cuisine, vegan food, and items for kids. The food was AMAZING! This place is amazing! Clean and great food. Nice people. Is great!
We visited from out of town and ended up going twice because the food was so good!!
Absolutely amazing. We love this place! Fast, friendly service and the food cannot be beat. Try the mango sticky rice if it's in season.
My soulmate and I just had a yummy dinner there and everybody was really nice.
We went in there a little bit towards close- but we received patience from everyone and they even waited to put up the chairs until after we left.
Very courteous people, delicious food, highly recommend. Thank you for reading.
This place was amazing. I got the yellow curry and some sushi. Both were equally delicious! The Thai place by my house went out of business and this was my 1st time finding Thai since then. Very happy I stumbled upon this place. Will definitely be going back.
Prices were very reasonable as well!
We had a really nice meal. Chicken Katsu and Soba were very good and servings sizes were generous. The staff was attentive and not pushy. These Japan dishes were not spicy which was good with us. There is a lot of carryout traffic but the dining area did not fill up while we were there at prine Saturday dining time. Help fill the seats, they are a great place for a meal....oh and food is served very quickly.
Hands down, the best veggie sushi in town!
Delicious food, great service, and food was served quickly. Finally found a place to replace Pho Grand since they closed.
Bright cheerful place. Very friendly service. Excellent green curry! Wish I found this place sooner!!!
I've been to Zen Thai a few times now and love their food- best Thai in St. Louis, in my opinion!
Their staff is incredibly friendly, which is always a huge bonus when going out to eat.
I'd reccomend the Tom Yum soup, it's so delicious! I love how the broth has just the right blends of umami, sour, and spicy.
In terms of appetizers, the curry puffs are one of the most delicious appetizers I've had from a restaurant. Even though they're fried, they're so light and delicious, and the sauce that comes with them is both refreshing and sweet and it's just a wonderful experience. The chicken satay is another one I order every time.
Also, if you're a coffee fan, you have to try the thai iced coffee. It's so good! They also have Thai tea, which is a super unique drink if you've never had it.
There's more I could say, but you'll have to check out this place yourself. Support local businesses!
Zen has been highly recommended, and I finally got to go.
Wow!!
Nothing is better than having expectations exceeded with friendly staff greeting us, making great conversation and recommendations, in addition to fast and amazingly delicious food.
Chiang Mai Noodles were blowing my mind!! Everything was great, and I can't wait to get back to Zen.
Matthew was a great server, and I appreciate him for being so courteous.
Thank you Zen!!
Stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday. Seated right away.
Ordered:
Crab Rangoon (basic - didnβt have a lot of filling in them for how much outside there was). My daughter enjoyed them.
Lunch specials (come with soup and 2 small egg rolls)
-spicy fried rice (my friend enjoyed hers but felt level 3 was too spicy)
-chicken pad Thai (I ordered level 3 and it was perfect)
-ordered 2 sushi rollsβ¦I donβt have the name on my receipt but it was basic rolls with shrimp. The shrimp was incredibly βfishyβ. My daughter didnβt like them and I tried them and felt the same way. They were not good and I wouldnβt order them again.
Would try again if ever in the area.
Oh how I wish I could have pictures for this! We immediately start eating because it's so darn delicious. Y'all, I hated sushi until my sweetheart had me try Zen's and I'm addicted. Love the ambiance and the food is one of a kind. Next time we go back I'll post an update. Highly recommend Zen if you love great food with a kick. ( Update on the new location, wowsers!!)
Went here on a date. The food was so good and the service was amazing. I will definitely be back to try more of the items on the menu!
Best Thai food in STL. Hands down! Super nice employees. Love it!
Staff was friendly, 1st time there, would love to go back to try out their sushi.
This place never disappoints. Often come here when visiting the in laws, but we're moving here. Will be sure to come in more often. Definitely recommend the drunken noodles! Remember to go lower on the spicy scale if unsure. It's better to not be spicy enough and add from the spice rack than have it too spicy to eat!
Tasty food. Laid back atmosphere. 2024 theyβre still making delicious food.
Food came out quick and the meat and noodles were delicious
The new location looks great. Food is amazing. Sushi, ramen, thai, they have it all.
Food was good, they didn't have sushi as advertised, but everything else was nice.
This place is definitely a hidden gem. The service is fast and friendly. The food is so good and very well done.
Awesome Japanese food it will not disappoint
The food was hot and delicious.
The service was excellent; very attentive and knowledgeable.
Very, very clean and comfortable atmosphere.
The only unfortunate business process was that they charge a percentage of you pay using debit/credit card. If you pay using cash is not an issue.
I will be a returning customer paying with cash.
We LOVE this place. We get carry out regularly, and dined in at the old location - havenβt gotten to dine in at the new location yet, but it looks really nice inside. The food is delicious and the service friendly. We love being able to get sushi and Thai together!
This is our favorite Asian food restaurant in St. Louis. Definitely check out this place. Iβd recommend the Tom Yum Soup, crab Rangoonβs, and Ginger Chicken.
New larger location, but same great tasting food. They have a good selection of items to choose from without being overwhelming. The option to choose your own level of spiciness is fantastic. Hubby can get his meal extra fiery, and I can get mine with a more modest amount of heat. It's become one of our favorite places to dine out.
The dinner dishes are large and shareable.
Fantastic authentic food.
I loved the old location. This evening was my first dinner at the new location. Same great food. Bigger, nicer environment.
Tucked away in a little shopping center is this charming restaurant. Inside, the vibe is cozy and welcoming. The service was delightful. We both ordered Massaman Curry with tofu and it was phenomenal. We don't get to that area of St. Louis county too much, but when we do, we are looking forward to returning here
We used to LOVE this place before it moved. Biggest complaint is the menu. No longer includes GF labels. Servers came to our table twiceβ¦to take our order and to deliver the food. We had to flag down servers 3x. And the food is now double the cost and presentation is sloppy. So sad this STl staple is no longer a consideration for us.
Great food, friendly service.
Excellent cost benefit foid and service!
We have been dining at Zen for over 20 years. Highly recommend. I'm an old Chef and I dabble in Asian Cuisine. It was nice to run into the owner at Global Foods, when picking up a few things to cook dinner. Have to say that I've had some of the spicest dishes there, of course at my request. I always recommend Zen to my friends.
Tom kha gai was the best I've had. Katzu chicken was also excellent. Will be going back soon!
The Curry here is π₯π₯ if you like spicy get one level lower than your thinking.
UPDATE:
Zen just moved to a different location and omg the vibes of the new place is amazing. Modern decor and everything else definitely feels more upscale. The food is still solid and they added more drink options so that was a pleasant surprise. I will definitely be coming back to dine in more often!
Compared to the other Thai restaurants in St. Louis Zen is definitely one of the best. The food is great and best of all the price is really inexpensive. The portions is good and the food comes out relatively quickly. However, when it gets busy it's very clear the kitchen gets backed up making the food come out dramatically slower than usual. The service is usually good here. Everyone is nice and cheerful. I would definitely recommend Zen.
Clean - bright - friendly.
Amazing food!
We will be back for sure.
The service was great, the food, fresh and delicious, and I'll be back for the lunch specials!
We picked up dinner from Zen and let me tell you, the service and food was as good as dining in. Their staff is so incredibly nice. The restaurant is clean and open and smells amazing. We had drunken noodles and red curry shrimp. DELICIOUS! π. Canβt wait to go back. Highly recommend!
Great food, family owned, great service
We love this place for Japanese and Thai food. Their new location is really nice. Try the udon noodles!
Love the beautiful, new location and the food is always top tier. The service is always great. Can't recommend this place enough!!
Chicken was too tough. $3 for 4 tough and tiny shrimp added to a dish. Sushi was okay but nothing special. Both pad thai and green curry were EXCESSIVELY sweet. Too sweet. Rice was cooked to mush. Passable in a pinch but I'd never go out of my way to eat there again. Further, an older man who was a regular complained his dish was too tough and I overheard another couple explain their order was wrong. During the meal I asked for salt and was brought a spice rack with no salt. Just a lackluster experience. Maybe I caught them on an off night with new cooks. Your mileage may vary.
This is a great thai cuisine, the green curry is amazing as well as the sticky rice mango, the service OMG is the best in town! Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the girl who was in charge of us but she's the very best, once you get to the place and she takes care of you, you will know what I'm talking about, btw I'm so sorry my dear for forgetting your name but keep up your great attitude!! β€ Loved this place!
4 YUMMMERS. We love Thai food so we could be a little biased. Love their new location.
Nice ambience, quick and friendly service, and the Musaman curry was amazing. Will go again.
Our favorite restaurant! The Chang Mai soup is exquisite. Itβs ALL great!
New site is wonderful, spacious but the Thai cultural wall decor is still in a box. They just reopened in the new location so I wont complain but I miss the elephants! I got the yellow curry with Tofu, level 2. Just the right amount of heat. Awesome! My husbands ginger tilapia also very tasty. Same menu and pricing, same gracious family. New dishwater and music, a little trendier but still warm and welcoming. Love it!
My favorite Thai place in St. Louis!! From the curry puffs to the pad Thai, this is the place to go!
Food was alright alittle.pricey.
We visited here for the first time last night with some friends. The food was amazing. Some of the best thai food we've had. Service was wonderful and friendly.
Honestly kind of disappointed. Lived in Seattle for ten years so lived next to a lot of great Thai restaurants. I was excited to try ZEN based on all the great reviews but itβs been a let down the two times Iβve been.
Iβm no stranger to spice but it seems like their scale is way off. I had a 3/5 yellow curry that I could barely even eat because it was so spicy. The second time I got a 2/5 and itβs the same story. On top of that i donβt think the yellow curry has enough flavor for me. Itβs all heat but not enough flavor.
My wife got the drunken noodles (pad kee mao) but they came with the basic ramen noodles (??) instead of the wide rice noodles which I have never seen before. On top of that her spice level was also way off.
Maybe we just got the wrong dishes but very disappointing.
I love Zen Thai so much. The food is always good and service is always top notch. Everybody is so sweet and nice, they always try to come by to your table to make sure everything is ok. I love that they give you egg roll and soup during lunch time with almost every dish.
Great BBQ noodles!!!
The new location is just as great as the old location. The food is amazing and the service is great. Despite coming on their opening day and being pretty busy, the service staff was very attentive and the food came out quick! We were in and out in under 40 minutes and everything was delicious! Zen Thai is our go to Thai place :)
Being a keen fan of Thai food, I have tried many Thai restaurants in the region. Zen Thai & Japanese is always what I come back too. Great food, and in true Asian culture, they serve you quickly and quietly UNLESS you want to talk and then you will find them all so very friendly and willing to converse. They are now moving into a nicer building and I can't wait to see how great things will be there!
Great, affordable food and friendly staff.
Update: We have been going to ZEN for years now. The food and service is always wonderful. We even celebrate birthdays and other special occasions at ZEN.
We ordered for delivery and it was made quickly which we appreciate, but the food itself was bland in comparison to many of the great Thai options in STL.
Friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere make this a wonderful dining experience. The food is prepared perfectly and served piping hot. Highly recommend.
Me and a friend went there the other day, food was really good but the issue is, my friend has sensitive teeth and he ordered his tea without ice, they charged him .45 cents extra on his glass of tea.
When I asked about the extra charge they said it was because of no ice wanted in his tea. My drink was filled to the top with ice and hardly no drink so I complained to the manager about charging more for tea with no ice and he said βwell thatβs how it isβ
We will not be going back there ever, no decent restaurant is going to make you pay more for tea and soda just because you donβt want ice.
The food and staff were wonderful! Can't wait to go back.
Yum love their soup their soup is basically mushroom Iβve had better. And if you ask for Thai tea with no ice because they cram the glass full of it they charge you a extra .75 cents after your bills for one is 40.00 and you come twice a week . They have lost me as a customer cause I will now go to the great one in LAMPLIGHT SQUARE. Hope they enjoyed that 75 cents compared to the 60.00 I spent a week Bye
The food and service is awesome!
Food was terrific!
Wonderful sushi and the staff is courteous. Be sure and check the hours.
Worth the trip here for the Tom Yum soup alone. Everything is good but the pineapple fried rice is my go to when I can't decide on anything else.
Zen is always great food I'm never disappointed. I love how I can get sushi and pad Thai at the same time
Have dined in and ordered take-out, always very flavorful and high quality! Absolutely love the curry puffs, red curry with chicken and any of the noodle dishes!
Great place
Good food, tastey lunch specials, nice outdoor space.
so delicious, the service is amazing and everyone working here is so nice!! food is incredible
Have you ever eaten Chang Mai noodle soup (Khao Soi)? Lots of complex flavors packed into a large bowl.
Best curry in town!
The tom yum soup was exquisite. The servers really catered to the patrons.
Did not expect a place that offers two different cuisine types to be excellent at either one, but they are. I got sushi (Zen roll) and it was the best sushi I've had in the St Louis region. It was even better than the sushi I used to get when I lived in Seattle where there are tons of sushi restaurants. Can not wait to go back here.
Great people and great food.
