Spiced-to-order Thai eats from curries to customized stir-fries, offered in an airy, casual eatery.
Our family of 5 had a great birthday meal here. We shared 4 dishes as a family and everything was delicious. My husband loves Thai food and the rest of us aren’t huge fans, but we ended up with a meal we ALL loved. And we are talking kids ages 7-14, so that all 3 kids enjoyed their meals here is fantastic. Lots of great choices and had a nice downtown location. Would recommend to a friend!
We had the basil fried rice, chicken satay, sesame chicken, and drunken noodles.
I've been here several times before years ago it delicious. Recently I took my boyfriend out on a date. And was super hot delicious food on a styrofoam plate. Im really weird about plastic thats my only downfall about this place. I only recommend getting takeout. At least get paper plates please. What happened to the glassware?
I am a fool. I ordered the drunken noodles but here they are called the Basil noodles with the brown sauce. I tried to be super respectful to the host and asked if I could please swap it for something else. She explained the difference and talked to the chef who was super cool about swapping out my order for me. I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH! I WAS SO HUNGRY! I also ordered shrimp rolls, always such a great app, and my sister ordered the pad Thai noodles. Everything else was delicious. They were super fast too!! My total came out to $39 before tip. Have always recommended Angel Thai and I will continue to do so!! ❤️
Service is always kind and quick. However, the food has been lacking for the last 6 months. Ive been going here since i was a kid and it is just not the same. The pad thai is absolutely flavorless. The tofu is soggy five minutes out the door on a takeout order. It is just disappointing to spend $50 on food that is not… very good. Especially considering it used to be my favorite restaurant!
We ordered crab Rangoon, two spring rolls, their special noodles with chicken and veggies, and spicy sweet and sour chicken. The lady was super nice and helpful, but I had a few issues with the food. In both plates, there was hardly any chicken at all, maybe three ounces total in my soup and about the same in my girlfriends dish. The spring rolls were very, very small, about the width of a sharpie. The Rangoons were very good, though. The noodles were very tasty, but with the lack of protine and almost no vegetables, it was lacking any substance. Her sweet and sour was good, but she had, I think, only 3 or four small pieces of chicken. Not to mention, everything was served on foam plates with plastic forks and spoons, which I absolutely hate. If I'd have known that bit prior, I wouldn't have even gone in.
I have been frequenting this establishment for well over a decade if not 2 decades!! I have been away fr the last two years and the remodel is absolutely stunning!!! The crispy tofu is always perfection!! I honestly don’t have a favorite dish cause I love Thai as a whole!!!
I highly recommend Angels Thai if you are ever visiting the downtown Grand Rapids area!!
Ordered tofu and started feeling very I'll after. After investigation I realized the tofu was moldy.

Horrible. I literally threw it in the trash and left.

Perfect post ice skating dinner
Best Thai in GR!!! Fantastic menu and flavors!!! Highest recommendation!!!

We had a wonderful healthy Thai dish the broccoli was so fresh. The soup was perfect! Best Thai food I have had in Michigan
I went here many times. The quality is worse than last year. I always order Khao poon but the taste was changed.
Our family of 5 had a great birthday meal here. We shared 4 dishes as a family and everything was delicious. Peanut curry was tasty. Crab Rangoon just okay but didn’t take away from an overall great impression
Down town for art prize. Kids chose this. It was so good!! Cute little place, nice people. Plenty of food. Highly recommend! We will be back! Seriously the best fried rice (kaon pad) I've had in a while!
Food is great, service is solid but it’s impossible to use the patio with so many homeless people sleeping on their floor.
I had the Tom kha soup it was incredible and excellent service
I dont have a lot of Thai food, but I stopped by Angels today and I was glad I did! The woman working there suggested I try the peanut curry noodles and they were incredible; the peanut wasn't overpowering and everything complemented really well. The service was super fast and friendly and the place was very clean when we visited. We took advantage of the outdoor seating with an excellent view of Rosa Parks circle! If you're craving Thai, i highly suggest Angels.
Nice location and friendly lady at front counter. I ordered tofu curry but got chicken. I also ordered the crispy eggrolls, I thought there would be 6 since that is what is listed on the menu. But I guess 6 pieces mean that they take two eggrolls and cut it into three pieces. My Thai tea tasted very off, it actually tasted salty which was super odd. I realized my order was off after I drove home 30 min. Very disappointing meal :(
If you're looking for a small and cozy place to enjoy some delicious Thai food, then Angel's Thai Café is the perfect spot for you. Their delectable spiced-to-order Thai eats are simply amazing and will tantalize your taste buds. This casual eatery offers a wide range of dishes, including curries, bespoke stir-fries, and other mouth-watering options. The best part about their food is that it balances the four fundamental flavors of Thai cuisine - sweet, salty, sour, and bitter - to perfection. So, if you want to taste some amazing Thai food, then Angel's Thai Café is definitely worth a visit.
Excellent food and excellent service! Accommodated our large party for my son’s graduation luncheon when other restaurants in the area would not! Highly recommend!
the girl at the counter is lovely. & i could get over food taking quite a while despite being the only ones waiting, no hot sauce available &
being served boiling food on foam plates if the food was exceptional but the tom kha lacked the flavor & the richness (normally found from a generous portion of coconut milk & lemongrass). 2 small bowls of tom kha and a 4 tiny fries spring rolls set us back $25 with tip & it wasn’t very good 😬
Delicious and vegan friendly
Phuong Is the best employee ever. She is so kind and helpful and I’ve never felt more welcome and taken care of than I did when she served us. 10/10 experience because of her. She deserves a raise!!!!!!!
Gotta make a stop in here. My new best friend, Julie, took my complicated order for my diet needs and worked around it. She was so thoughtful. Thanks Julie!
2 spring rolls, 1 order of the tofu sesame.
Food was delicious! Would love for them to return to plates and hot tea instead of Styrofoam and drinks from the cooler.
Pretty weird Massaman curry, the potatoes are like crinkly cut fries? Not much chicken at all. For 15$ I would say not worth it.
Angel's Thai Cafe was this week's choice for our office's Friday team lunch and it's been awhile since I'd been there. I'd called ahead to let Julie know there'd be a dozen of us and she'd set aside seating for us. There ended up being 16 of us but it worked out swimmingly! All but one enjoyed their meal and the experience. 15 out of 16 of us enjoying our meal is pretty darned good! I'm not a food critic nor am I an expert in Thai cuisine, but I can say that Julie made us feel welcome and that Angel's Thai Cafe will be on our weekly polls again for our Friday team lunch. Thank you, Julie! I DO recommend stopping here, at least for lunch! (The crispy rolls are VERY good)
First time ever here it was delicious
Meh
Absolute worst food ever! The noodles were so salty it burns the tongue. We tried eating it but couldn't get pass how terrible it was. For the price they're charging they need to learn how to cook better. We ordered 3 dish and had to walk away without barely touching it.
It was ok
The pad Thai was all noodles and hardly any chicken. It was wet and runny.
Great service and food !
The food was bad, and we got extreme nausea soon after eating. The owner did nothing to fix the issue, but suggested the food wasn't the problem.
We went there on Saturday night! It was my first time having Thai food, and I wasn't disappointed. I appreciate the gluten free options.
Great thai. Recommended.
Had a simple question and got hung up on very first time calling.. says they're still open but I guess not to answer simple questions.
Food was good. But this place is here only for carry out. Wife and I drove an hour to try this place and eat dine in. Order at counter and they bring your food out on Styrofoam plates with a single plastic fork. I expect more from a dine in joint. There are several other thai places that offer a real sit down dine in experience. If you live local and want carry out, enjoy. But, pass on by if you are expecting real plates and silverware during dine in.
Amazing food and the friendliest staff! If you like a little spice, try the kapoon.
Horrible horrible horrible food. I would prefer killing myself than eating such a pathetic food.
Chicken satay - like a wood brick
Soup- water with some vegetables
Tofu fried - no taste, served poorly
Pad Thai shrimp - can’t even say, it was anywhere even close to edible option.
I know nobody would care from the restaurant
Right off of rosa parks circle, definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area looking for a bite to eat. the gal at the register (phuong) was happy to offer some suggestions as it was my first time in. wonderful service and INCREDIBLE peanut curry noodle. i didn’t use the bathrooms, so i can’t speak for them here but otherwise the front of the restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
Love the food!
Angel was very happy to help me to get exactly what I wanted. Very informative on the menu and will make it to your liking.
They were okay. I had the pineapple fried rice with vegetables. They don't use fresh vegetables. They use vegetables out of the can. Rangoons dont have a swee6taste.
I really enjoyed the food here. It took a little longer than we'd hoped but I was in a group of 7 and there were only a couple of people working. I got pad thai with beef and medium spicy and it was excellent. I wish the portion had been a little bit bigger, but I was still satisfied.
Take out oriented now, not the same atmosphere I was used to before covid. Still good food though.
We ordered crab Rangoon, two spring rolls, their special noodles with chicken and veggies, and spicy sweet and sour chicken. The lady was super nice and helpful, but I had a few issues with the food. Wonderful food tray
Ordered delivery curry pad thai, regular pad thai, and a side of 5 piece rolls. They arrived dry like boiled noodles without sauce and very, very bland. Maybe it's intentional and better suited for delicate palettes, now that I see other reviews are saying the same.
Be careful of the spice levels. Stay with medium. Good soups.
Extremely disappointing for what I paid for. Shockingly small portions for the price paid. Won't be coming back.
Listen. This place was destroyed by the Michigan government shutting the entire state down and ruining the local economy for absolutely no reason. They’ve been forced to change a few things here to barely keep their head above water. A lot of business went down during and after the plandemic. Yeah they switched over to a take out oriented place. I have eaten here a hundred times. The food is still good. Went there today and the food was good as always. The people working here are good people.
Average thai place
Ordered drunken noodles with chicken. There was no chicken. Tom yum soup is too sour, tastes like it was made with mop water. I'm sorry to be harsh I am just shocked at how bad it is.
Great place for lunch down town. Open Sunday too.
Service was friendly, but the food was mediocre at best. You generally expect generous portions at a Thai place, but I was still hungry after spending about $12 for Beef Pad Thai. It was not busy at all - I was dining in, they had two other customers for take out while I was there, and the meal was served on a paper plate.
Thai is my favorite food and this was sub-par with little flavor served on Styrofoam. My drunken noodles tasted like really cheap chicken noodle soup with hardly any chicken. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but $35 for us to leave to have an enjoyable meal is ridiculous.
Basil Thai Noodles with Crispy Tofu, SO GOOD! My usual order. This place is a gem highly reccomend coming downtown for this place.
Always a great place for lunch!!! I love the Masaman curry.
Ordered Drunken Noodles. Looked nothing like the photo. Asked for extra bean sprouts was told no problem.. didn't get them either. Pay at other places 10 to 13 bucks. This place was 15 something and only knocked down 10% with a student i.d.. ordered takeout and didn't look till I drove home.. sorry no photo of the Noodles they gave me..
Excellent as always :) House noodles and house rice is absolutely amazing! Shrimp rolls are the best! Good prices and order is always correct.
Good spot for reasonably priced, solid Thai food. The order took a little longer than expected, but the spice level was appropriate (I went with a 5) and the quality is good. Nice to find a spot downtown that isn’t gouging customers on prices!
Awful. Rice under cooked, crunchy peppers and onions in a stir fry, overly oily. Drunken noodles tasted like watered down ramen noodles.
They did offer to give me a credit or remake it, but it was so bad I declined and left.
great thai spot, used to work 2 blocks from here and get this place at least twice a week for lunch. peanut curry, drunken noodle, house noodle, all fire.
Great food great prices great portions first time going will be going back fast service as well
Friendly staff and good variety on the menu!
The drunken noodles were overcooked, mushy, and had absolutely no flavor unless you count dirty water a flavor. The pad thai wasn’t too bad it could’ve used more flavor but overall the flavor wasn’t too bad, but the noodles were overcooked. Both dishes were seriously lacking in chicken.
Amazing food! Have been going here for years
Food was bland, ignored my request for no egg on my dish, found a hair interwoven into my noodles. Really disappointed.
We came here after an extended wait at our planned destination since we were famished. There was only one other customer in the restaurant but it still took 30 minutes to make 2 mediocre noodle dishes. We felt somewhat I'll about an hour later after eating. Definitely won't be returning here.
Food was really good, kind staff, and fast getting out to us. Definitely recommend
So yummy! Owner is very nice.
They have always surprised me with the vivid taste in all the dishes. Me being vegan- this is my GoTo place. They make it as spicy as I want and perfect enjoyment for me 💯
I dig for Green Thai curry and Red peanut curry with extra tofu. Its the best
Quick and friendly service, but the food (Drunken Noodle, medium heat) was gag-worthy. Worst in the area by far. It was flavorless and the sauce was watery, tasting of only salt and red pepper flakes. Very disappointed, will not be returning.
Food is great, service is slow at lunch. It's too popular for its own good, maybe?
Ordered pad thai take out and was disappointed. The noodles were dry not much sauce or flavor and not even a handful of veggies and the veggies that were in the pad thai were overcooked and soggy. My fiance's food was good I ended up using some of his brown sauce and putting it in my pad thai and adding some of my own veggies.
My partner and I shared the pad thai (perfect portion) and a few spring rolls. The spring rolls had so much flavor! Most spring rolls taste the same to me, but these definitely stood out. Also the sauce that came with the spring rolls was new to me, very unique and well, bomb. The pad thai was some of the best either of us have ever had, definitely the best in gr. There was a hint of sweetness that made the noodles unbelievably good. Highly highly recommend!🧡
The staff is really nice and the food is very good. The red curry and green curry are my favorites
This place is my favorite Thai restaurant in GR. Their takeout is super quick and the food is consistently delicious. I really appreciate that the veggies that are put into their dishes are fresh, add to the flavor of the dish, and are consistent each time. I typically order the peanut curry noodles with chicken and would highly recommend!
Always greet food and service. And you can eat inside!!!
Tried some fried rice and shrimp from here a while ago from off someone's plate and it tasted delicious. Not sure what's the name of the entree but when I find out, i'm coming back to buy my own!
No sauce with my drunken noodle? What the heck?
I ordered the Pad Thai and a spring roll through uber eats and it was delicious. The food came very hot, everything was correct. There was some sauce spillage in the bag but everything was contained. The only complaint I have is the Paid Thai said it came with a lemon wedge and mine did not.
I’ve called twice now before placing an order to be delivered with questions regarding menu items because I have dietary restrictions. Both times I found the employee to be super helpful, knowledgeable and patient! I really appreciate this because so many times I ask about a menu item at other restaurants and the staff have no clue! Food was delicious and good portions.
Fantastic Thai in GR I love their pad thai!
Whoever left a review saying they had the “best chicken pad thai” was not fit to review. This is quite possibly the worst thai I have ever had. Somehow, it tasted like soggy fermented cabbage. So if that’s your thing you should for sure eat here.
New server, brought the wrong item. We'd stated separate checks, and she grouped them. This is her first week so it'll get better. The food was good.
I've eaten here a few times and the food was consistently bland. I had a drunken noodle where I wasn't sure they had remembered to put sauce on it. No reason to eat here with much better Thai restaurants mere blocks away.
Fast service, great food!
Food was very good and service was very prompt and friendly, even though they were pretty busy. Overall a great expirience. Would have liked to have been able to try the Thai Tea, but they were out.
Food is good.
This Place has THE BEST TOFU, IN GRAND RAPIDS!
Excellent food, right downtown. Only drawback, no free parking.
Tasty dishes and very friendly service.
Solid. Good food, good service.
Absolutely tasteless food. Nothing like what was described in the menu. Very unfortunate. Would not recommend.
Too expensive for the portion. I ordered crispy rolls for $5 and it was one roll cut in to 6 pieces. Not worth it.
I got the Pad Nang without Bell Please. The flavor was amazing. Definitely will be going back this weekend. Lexi my server was outstanding
Good food at a decent price. Dined in at lunch time and was served fast without issue. My complaint: nothing stood out either.
Reasonably priced, decent food
Chicken satay needs to be removed from the menu. It literally was dried out white meat breaded chicken fingers with a stick shoved inside it. Served with watered down peanut butter. I'm sad.
We couldn't decide between several highly rated Thai places when in town for the weekend, but are so glad we settled on this one! Great location in the heart of downtown-enjoyed walking around afterward. Charming inside, great staff. But The Best Thai food we've ever had! Thai fried rice was phenomenal; best sauce I've ever tasted. More of a teriyaki than soy. We'll definitely be back!
Great food, got my order wrong but it's all so good I didn't even care.
Best Thai restaurant in town. I think the Pad Thai here is the best and several people I've taken here agree. You can get your food in various levels of spicy so no need to fear the Thai burn of you're not a fan of heat. If you are, their spice blend is super tasty, and if you're sharing a dish, you can get a shaker of their spice on the side (not quite as good as when it's cooked in, but still good). Prices are very reasonable.
The noodle dishes aren't huge, but usually fill me up. My wife always has leftovers, which I get in trouble for eating nearly every time.
Great experience, great food
Food was good.
Server wouldn’t let me sub fried rice for my white rice, even though I wanted to pay for it. Seemed silly, 🤔
Tables were sticky.
We were smashed against a large group behind us, not much room to move around.
Waitress also asked us to come to the back and pay instead of the “inconvenience” of separating our checks...
Overall, I prefer Thai Chef. Proximity wise, Freshii is a similar palette and would be a good choice.
Angel's Thai Cafe in Grand Rapids is great...medium price range and the food and service is wonderful. You can vary how spicy your dish is, and you can vary the protein (chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu, etc.) accordingly. You can be a vegetarian or meat eater...great options.
It's a decent place downtown to have Thai
I love this place. The food is so good here. The prices are also very reasonable. I tend to order the pad thai because it is lovely, and perfect. Other dishes are good as well! Go here! Order food! Love it!
Bomb food
Love the gang garee
I have lived in or around GR my whole life & have always loved Angel's Thai. Recently I have transitioned to a whole foods, plant based diet & ate here for the first time since my switch. I've learned when it comes to eating out this way, it is essential to check online menus. Well, I learned today the importance of asking BEYOND what's on the menu. Warning to WFPB & vegan peeps - the Drunken Noodle, though the menu does not mention it, has eggs in it. At least, mine did. This is definitely my own fault for not asking about it, but still, I find it odd that they listed out eggs as an ingredient for every other dish with eggs in it except this one??
In addition, the portion sizes used to be very large a year or so ago (last time I was there), but now they're substantially smaller. Prior to this time, I'd always have enough for my meal & leftovers to take home! Which isn't a huge deal, but like... I don't know, I guess I had some level of expectation that I'd have more.
Lastly, the prices on their menus are not correct. They have lunch priced on their website as $7.95 with the protein choice of tofu, but yet my total was $10.34!? That is SO irritating to me, especially because the portion was so much smaller, so I literally got less for more money. AT LEAST they need to update their menu pricing. I feel duped!
All in all, I can find soooo many more places downtown to spend $10.34 with better value. The flavors are delicious, the waitresses are INCREDIBLY SWEET, but I was very disappointed in my experience overall. Very underwhelmed.
Food was very good
An okay Thai place for okay food. The location is convenient, and the food is sub par. The staff is very friendly and will make accommodations upon request.
Best thai stirfry, won't go anywhere else. I dont even live near the cafe.
Great food and great service! Love the people who work here, very fun and accommodating. Best Thai I've ever had
Green curry is fantastic.
The food was exalent
Food and service were great!
I had their Pad Ped which had nice tender vegetables and a flavorful red curry sauce. It was very tasty and overall a great experience.
Nice place
Great food.
Food was good and the staff was friendly
Fantastic service and delicious food
Quite disappointed with this place. The food is very bland and theres so much sauce in my takeout container it might as well be soup. Plus I payed for the extra vegetables and seriously out of my whole dish there's maybe a handful of vegetables. There's no extra at all and they still charged me for it. Overall, very disappointed in this place.
I had an excellent experience here! I had the Peanut Curry Noodle and my friend had the Thai Curry Noodle, which we both loved. The staff were very friendly too, which I appreciate. The place is very cozy and almost always has open tables, meaning that you'll be seated very quickly. The only weird thing is that both me and my friend ordered food with a spice level of 4, but my dish was significantly spicier, which I don't really understand. Overall the place is fantastic and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes Thai/Asian food.
