Familiar Thai dishes come in a cozy restaurant with bright colors & a comfortable outdoor patio.
Loved our meal here. The food was distinctly "fresh" and flavorful, with an understated, classy, and welcoming decor. We ordered a dish for takeout so we could eat a meal again for lunch!
Good food but portions could be just a bit bigger and with more vegetables.
Prices are reasonable and chef or owner is known by repeat customers.
Outdoor patio available on front street. Indoor seating is plentiful.
They stayed open for us to finish after the served us quickly on the cusp of closing.
Park at back, the back entrance is unlocked!
Fried banane dessert is a bit light.
We just had one of those meals that we shall remember for a long time. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice with cloth napkins and fresh paper table clothes. The water has a very clean taste with plenty of ice. We started off with the three roll combo which was good. We ordered the vegetable fried rice which had a great flavor and we learned of the extra hidden white pepper technique, my wife had the tofu flat rice noodles with vegetables dish that had so much flavor that I wanted more myself. I had hot beef platter that had tofu and vegetables cooked perfectly. One of the owners (Dan) paid is a visit and we chatted for a bit. Seventeen years in business “We have to cook a lot of rice to pay for the space” We all laughed so loud, great time with Dan. This was our best meal since moving to the area. We can suggest Patou Thai at our highest recommendation if you want delicious food and amazing service.
Best Thai Food in New England! This is our family's favorite restaurant for over 23 years. They offer brown rice as a side order or in their excellent Fried Rice. Can customize dishes to be Gluten Free for Celiacs.
The owner/chef, Dan Tanabat, is amazing — so courteous and friendly! He came by our table personally to make sure we enjoyed the food. And the food was amazing! Some of the most authentic Thai food in Boston, but none of the notoriety it deserves. Also, I really appreciate the atmosphere here. Too many good Thai restaurants are lacking in the atmosphere, but not Patou Thai! Dim, romantic lighting, white table cloths, leather menus, and antic Thai decorations line the interior, making for the perfect date night spot. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Disappointed with their portion, very small and what they called as wild boar Thai Basil. Don’t think it is wild boar at all. Just usual pork meat. But I have to say it was fragrant with Thai basil. The pork meat was too hard and only a few slices, very little amount for the price. I doubt will try other dishes
The best pad thai I’ve had in a very long time! Also, the muscles are delicious!

To go order - missing drink and crab Rangoon was burnt. Surprised and disgusted that they would charge me for food, knowing that it wasn’t edible. No, we won’t ever be back.

Delicious food, no matter what you get. Also, perfect mango sticky rice.
Still using plastic bags for takeout. Banned in Belmont years ago!

Great food.
A little on the dark side light wise
Love you neng! I had the Red Snapper and oh my GOD it was amazing! I highly reccomend to everyone. This is REAL authentic thai cuisine.
Really nice restaurant, and people. Great quality. They do a lot of take out but it's a comfortable, clean place to eat in! Always a great experience.
They made wait more than hour for the food
Patou in Belmont Center is the best Thai restaurant my family or I have visited in the United States (yes, I’ve had comparable dishes in Thailand). I estimate i have eaten Dan’s cooking (the owner) well north of 50 times.
Barring food restrictions, order my go-to and you will not be disappointed:
- Siam rolls
- Beef satay
- crab ragoons
- Spicy chicken fried rice
- Royal Thai noodles
- Green curry with beef
Folks don’t realize, however Patou makes their appetizers fresh by hand (including the Siam rolls and crab ragoons above). They also make their own dipping sauces (I’ve encouraged Dan to try and bottle and sell them through Whole Foods).
Save yourself a ticket to Thailand, Patou is the real deal. Dan can be seen in the kitchen nearly every day and treats his staff well. 10/10
Nice ethnic local restaurant. Ample seating. Municipal parking directly behind restaurant.
Nice space. Easy parking. Crab rangoon was good. Nice presentation.
Brown rice was good. Seafood dishes had rubbery scallops and portion size was small. Prices were too high for the quality. We won't come back.
Excellent food.
Best pad thai and beef satay around, been coming here for years and it’s always delicious

Minimal A/C, pad Thai was ok, Siam fried rice was delicious.
An "ok" at best Thai restaurant. Nothing on the menu is particularly amazing, but nothing is terrible either.
The food here was both fresh and delicious! Started with Shumai and crab Rangoon and the flavors were delicious. Some of the best I have eaten to date. Our server gave us great recommendations and was clearly proud of the food they serve. Highly recommend this place.
We went for my sister's birthday it was a great time very friendly staff excellent food I got the spicy salmon and they warn me it was spicy and oh boy was it spicy but very good
Best Thai restaurant in town.
Tasty white tablecloth Thai restaurant with a nice ambiance and soft lighting. Food is good but not amazing. Great service.
Food was outstanding. Service a little slow but worth the wait.
Food and service was great, although I wish they had more vegetarian menu options. I was going to order their vegetable curry, but it had fish sauce, which made it non-vegetarian. This was further confusing because it was under a section of their menu titled 'vegetarian'. The waitress mentioned we will have to get green curry to get something vegetarian, although we did not see that item on their menu. The actual dish was very good although I think the restaurant can be better with their vegetarian options and communication.
So slow
Lots of unfamiliar dishes on the menu for me so I stuck with something I knew and was not disappointed! The red curry was wonderful! Nice atmosphere and decent service.
Horrible customer service. I went in to fix my meal and the lady at the front was very dismissive and rude. When I went back to pick the food they had left the same food (just reheat it) and they left the same dirty utensils I had previously used. Portions are very small not worth my time or the money. Wost $35 dollar meal I ever received. Going to a fast food restaurant would have been better than this.
Everyone, including the owner are sweet and nice people. The food is good and the restaurant is great at placing tables at a good distance from one another, which I like.
Awesome owner, great food, reasonable price.
Delicious. It’s been our go-to Thai spot for a couple of years now. The food is less greasy than at other nearby Thai restaurants. Highly recommend the pad thai, pad see ew, chonburi wings, and fried rice.
Good food but portions could be just a bit bigger and with more vegetables.
Prices are reasonable and chef or owner is known by repeat customers.

Super rude! I was told by an employee that we could have drinks on the terrace and then when I tried to order food alongside the drinks they asked us to leave. Told us it was law that we had to order food with the drinks and then they wouldn't let us order the food, waspy staff
Delicious food!!
The food is excellent. The vegetables were fresh and cooked just RIGHT! The service was perfect. I had a wonderful experience.
The food was beyond disappointing and with only three parties in the entire restaurant, the waitress still managed to neglect us. We had to flag her down to take our order and then again to get the check. Two TINY UNDERSIZED dishes and one appetizer cost $42.00!! We will NOT return.
Hands down the best Thai food in the Boston metro area! We tried Pad Thai, Yellow curry chicken and siamese fried rice, everything was delicious!
We've been regulars here for years. The food is absolutely wonderful, and so are the people who work there! Nice ambiance too.
Decent place, great service delicious food. COVID-19 safety protocols observed.
You know when you’re Starving and craving Thai food? I was this eve and Still Hungry after an appetizer & a stir fry 😞 My chicken ginger stir fry had Very Little chicken which left me searching my kitchen for more Protein ...My Second try .. maybe three’s a charm ?
Great place, delicious food. We'll be back for more!
Great food, very fresh and helpful staff. The meals here are very consistent and well prepared. Ingredients are often purchased at the local farmers market.
Fantastic (not greasy!) pad thai and swordfish curry! The interior of the restaurant has a unique ambience, and I loved the outdoor seating. Definitely will be going back.
Go there every couple months for years. Yeah, the service is on the slow side, but the food is very good and the portions great. Go there for a very tasty, relaxing meal.
——To the people who wanted faster service, tell them you have to be someplace and can they put your order in right away.
Yum
We were here over the weekend and had a lunch special which included two appetizers, soup or salad, and a main dish. If you chose a main dish $10.50 or under, the lunch special cost $14 for everything. I had a vegetable dish with brown rice and soy sauce. I also had a garden salad and vegetable rolls. The quality and quantity was great as well as the service!
Place was dead, yet service was very very slow. Our waitress was nice, but very inattentive. Food was bland but good portions for price. I asked for spicy, and I can handle spicy but it seemed like they dumped the entire bottle of hot peppers. I left with swollen lips, couldn't finish the meal.
Very average tasting food which is disappointing when considering what the menu is trying to do. Also the service was incredibly slow. It took over an hour for our food (table of 4).
Weird tasting noodles and dry tofu cubes

My favorite Thai restaurant. Wonderful food and friends.
The place is a little pricy compared with other Thai restaurants. Food was just so so. Service was minimal. Environment is good.
Lovely, inviting little restaurant in Belmont center. It is our go-to for a quiet scrumptious dinner. We especially love the spring rolls, the pad thai, the chicken satay. Always wonderful!
Had sword fish Thai curry for lunch. Taste is good. But serving is way too small.
The food was very good especially the appetizers, the curry roll and the beef satay!
The service was excellent.
Quiet, pleasant surroundings and a variety of Thai Dishes at reasonable prices. Everybody at our table was pleased with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Street parking.
Great service!
Excellent food !!!! Great service!
salmon pad cha is out of this world. never find it in any thai restaurant.
I had their lunch special for $14. Spring rolls, curry puff, glass noodle soup, and pad thai. Overall the experience was mediocre. It says on the menu that there would be two spring rolls ("Spring rolls (2)"), but what came were two cross section pieces of a whole spring roll. You get about a half roll's worth. The pieces were stuffed mainly with cheap lettuce (and you can tell the original roll had loosely wrapped lettuce so they couldn't even be bothered to put a lot of a really cheap ingredient). They each had a piece of what I believed was chicken; the meat was so small I couldn't even taste it. The piece had none of the traditional noodle, basil, cilantro, meat combo (the lettuce used isn't even indigenous to Asia). The curry puff was a small triangle that contained about the same volume of a McDonald's chicken nugget and stuffed with, again, mostly with cheaper ingredients like potatoes. If there was chicken I could not taste it. The glass noodle soup was made with chemical-ly "chicken bouillon". There was barely a mouthful of glass noodles, a not very fresh shrimp, two pieces of tasteless canned mushrooms, and one green bean pod that wasn't trimmed of the fibrous sides. It wasn't even a bowl's worth, maybe a half bowl. It just looked like there was 'more' owing to the bowl that is wide and shallow relative to the quantity of soup. So again, they skimp on premium ingredients, use cheap substitutes, and then skimp on the quantity served of this mostly cheap offering. The pad thai came with three pieces of not fresh shrimp (tail ends had already turned black and texture turning to muh) and loads of noodles. if there was chicken I didn't see any. I could have counted the number of bean sprouts among the mass of noodles. The pad thai would totally not be worth the $10.50 it normally would have cost a la carte. I've had better quality and quantity of premium ingredients (eg, shrimp, chicken) for comparable, if not less, elsewhere in the Boston area. For using mostly cheap ingredients, skimping on serving a fulfilling quantity of even cheap ingredients, using unfresh 'premium ingredients', I'm not impressed. How they make up for the mediocre food is with the ok decor and ambiance. If they served this kind of food in a more cafeteria like setting I doubt it would be much above 4 stars, it would be more around 3.5. In fact I've had better food at places with less stars. what seems like a deal for $14 is really just paying for a lot of mediocrity. I'd rather spend a little more for much better and more premium/traditional ingredients. I'd give the ingredients 2 stars. A lot of cheapness, and unfresh premium ingredients. The dressing for the spring rolls and the pad thai tasted 'traditional' enough. but owing to the over substitution of cheap ingredients it did detract from 'authentic taste.' So I give the taste just under 3 stars. That makes the average just under 2.5 stars, and I'm annoyed enough that they have been getting away with such mediocrity owing to the decor such that I'm going to round down.
They seem to do more take out then dine in. Food is very good but prices are a bit high. Service is great.
Good and freshly cooked food. Big portions for the price. Cozy restaurant with warm atmosphere perfect for anyone and groups. Service is perfect and fast.
Great food. Cannot complain about the price given the quantity. A bit too dark for team outings. Very good service.
Food was exquisitely prepared. Beautiful to the eye and tasty to the tongue.
Fresh food. Good taste. Good service
I went with a dozen people who ordered lots of dishes to share, and each dish was delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy.
Patao Thai has been a family favorite for more than a decade. Today, I had not been feeling well and felt much better after a bowl of glass noodle soup with jasmine tea and a side of larb.
Other great staples are the fresh spring rolls, the country-style chicken basil, tamarind salmon, and noodles tofu. Highly recommended!
The food was very good and the service was top notch. I had the honey pork and sampled the Sawgrass chicken. I recommend you give them a try, you will like it.
Pretty Good Food. Lunch specials are great
Great lunch specials, food and service is always great, the short rib is an excellent choice, as well as the more traditional Thai dishes, wd boar basil and pad Thai. The ice tea is great as they serve it mix your own style not pre-made so you can tailor to your liking.
Very good Thai food. Very nice service. Just missing green curry
We love this Thai restaurant. We have been coming here for over 5 years and it is always a wonderful experience. The food is always prepared just right and service is outstanding. Their lunch specials are perfect for a business meeting or get together.
Excellent food. Service is a bit slow and portions could be a bit larger. However, very satisfied overall.
Extremely delicious and consistent food. Great service. Chill atmosphere. Excellent
We enjoyed our meal so much.!! We are vegetarians, and do not eat dairy products, and your Veggies with rice was delicious, and the vegetable spring rolls and the sauce were delicious!!! And, the folks who work there, are so kind. Loved our time in your Restaurant.
Take care, Pamela and Darrell Griffin
Love the place and staff. Food is great as well!
When I walked in, a man shouted “for here or to go” at me from across the restaurant. Then, I was seated in the absolute back of the building away from other diners. When I said I’d prefer to sit where I was visible so that the person I was meeting could find me, the man told me no in fact I did not want to sit close to other people and proceeded to plop my menus down where we were. Better yet, I was left with no service for over 10 minutes while I watched other patrons walk in and out of the bathroom from my secluded seat. There was nobody available when I walked up to the host stand to ask for a glass of water. I left without ordering because of the embarrassingly poor service.
Food is always good here.
Always stop by at the local Thai restaurant for great food and service. Must have when I’m in the area.
Terrible service. Really rude and not well informed. Asked about allergy information when ordering didn't hear anything back until the food was infront of me and I asked (for the 3th time). There were only 2 other tables occupied in the restaurant at that time so she wasn't bussy half of the time (you could also see the staff talk and joke 2 tables behind us). Was expecting a great restaurant didn't live up to the expectations and would not recommend.
Best Thai food in the area, easily.
Nice food, nice ambience, excellent service
Good food, reasonable prices, nice ambiance.
Service was good, food was good. Table was wobbly.
Food very good, friendly staff, nice ambiance. Service on the slow side
Incredible food
I love this restaurant.
Great atmosphere and only authentic Thai taste in Boston!
great spicy chicken fried rice
Good food, good service. they don't have a kids menu.my boys really enjoyed drawing on the paper table cloth with the provided crayons.
My go to when quickly needing Thai. The spicy beef salad was always good
Very tasty menu, quick service!
My family has been coming here for years. The food is always delicious and prepared quickly for take-out. Great job Patou!
Very good food! I think it's the best Thai I ever ate! Special lunch are amazing for the price and quality of food! Very nice staff and service! Highly recommanded
Well established, consistent, well managed, friendly staff, clean, and great food have made this restaurant one of my favorites. Try the Tum Yum meal in a soup made by Cow. Lots of great, special dishes.
Excellent Thai for Belmont. The curry rolls are really nice, as are the soups! Ginger chicken is my fav-- lightly, but well flavored.
Great Thai restaurant located in Belmont Center. They offer a wide selection of options as well as lunch specials and dinner specials.
Good curries, pad Thai, and specials. Nice quiet atmosphere for dining and good for takeout.
The food is great!!! The atmosphere is fabulous!! and service always with a smile!!! When ever I travel to Boston I make sure to stop in and eat at least one meal if not more.
pad thai was good but the chicken was dry and a little burnt, did not dine Ine but the place looks nice including the function hall
I had my wedding lunch here and they were great. The food is delicious and well priced. The owner, Dan, is extremely nice and accommodating and the servers spoke English natively or very well and were great. I would highly recommend Patou and plan to visit regularly.
Love this place! Food is delicious and flavourful, atmosphere is peaceful/relaxing. Great reliable food at a reasonable price. What more can you want after a long day....
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!
my fav dish is the pineapple fried rice
i get that every time
and it always tastes DELICIOUS!!
The decor is slick and the food generic suburban Thai. Avoid.
